HP Envy Inspire 7955e Wireless Color All-In-One Printer. I received this product as a sample to do this review & that doesn’t mean I’m going to sugar coat anything because of that reason. I want everyone who reads this review understand that I will be blatantly honest with this printer.

The printer is touch screen so that’s a upgrade to me instead of that classic LED Buttons, It weights around 18-20 lbs & it’s well protected from the factory with all sorts of Styrofoam cushions along with protected screen tapes on delicate areas on the screen, system trays, scanner & ink area.

It comes with the 2 inks of BLACK & COLOR so no worries there. Installing the ink is easy, This is a easy to set up printer that I would recommend using your mobile device to activate it 1st then you can smoothly configuration your options on your PC/MAC.

It takes a while to print from mobile devices but it works properly since you can basically print from anywhere around your home wirelessly, the system tray can be a bit tricky when you’re adjusting papers to it so make sure you always align your tray in order or else it would give you a little blue light on the side that tells you to fix it.

Printing Pictures come out in excellent format as if you’re printing them from somewhere like Walgreens so that’s a plus. You can adjust the tray to print out long paper sheets that usually wouldn’t fit in most printers.

It’s not noisy & it scans, copies & prints everything quick from your PC/MAC. It connects to 2. 4/5GHZ on your internet WIFI-ROUTER to get the best connectivity rate in your home. It does have a slight wi-fi drop on the 2.

4GHZ so I would recommend connecting to the 5GHZ. It’s a “OKAY” printer but the price tag it’s not worth it as the design seems a bit “dated” with that Box look & if you’re looking for a speedy printer then I suggest looking elsewhere.

Received the HP Envy Inspire 7955e Wireless All-In-One Printer a few days ago and have been putting it through its paces. Upon opening this package, I noticed that HP took extra care with packing this printer up, by placing a box within a box to ensure it arrived safely and not all banged up.

After removing all of the plastic and cardboard, setup was a breeze. Simply plug up the printer and download the HP Smart app from the App Store for iOS devices or the Google Play Store for Android devices.

Once downloaded, it took no time for the app to discover the printer and asked me if I wanted to add it to my Wi-Fi network. After that, the app pretty much guide you through the rest of the setup process which includes adding the ink cartridges and paper.

During the setup process, I’m not sure what happened but I did have to turn the printer off and back on and close out the app completely are restart it. Seemed as though there was a hang-up on the setup process somewhere, but once rebooted everything kicked into gear and the setup process finished within 30 seconds.

After aligning the printer heads and the initial test pages I started printing off some pictures from my iPhone. The pictures were crisp and clear. Color lines did not bleed like I’ve noticed with other printers that I’ve tested in the past; however colors did not appeared somewhat dull in some photos.

Everything we copied and/or scanned over the last week has worked flawlessly without any issues thus far. HP also included some photo paper as well in the package. This printer is a nice size and doesn’t take up a lot of space on a desk or top of a small file cabinet.

And this sandstone color is a nice change as well. HP really pushes the HP+ and Instant ink program through the app and has a tendency to bombard your email to signup. Although this printer is decent at printing photos, it may be better suited for documents and such.

You can print documents/photos directly from your phone via the app or AirPrint if you have an iPhone. You can also download and install the HP software to your computer and print from there as well.

The printer was advertised as coming with installation CD and manual, however neither was in the box from HP. There was only a page referring you to their on-line set-up, which would be a problem if internet is not available.

It did not come with a printer cable, although that was indicated on box. After much trouble trying to install the printer via the Wi-Fi options, and downloading the necessary software and instructions, it would not work on the local network where we were staying.

Locating the necessary files and information was challenging on the HP support site, which directed you to unrelated help pages if you used the search function. Once installed, any attempt to print a page using the local wi-fi port option crashed my computer completely, requiring a hard shut-down and restart to regain control of the computer (Windows 97) after a page partially prints out.

The same result if any attempt to scan a document with it. Only by shutting off all wi-fi functions of the printer and using a separately purchased USB cable could successful printing and scanning be achieved.

That said, once the horrors of getting the unit set up were done, the print quality and speed is good, as is the scan operation, if somewhat cumbersome to access via their interface. The printer is compact, and easily portable, and the battery power is likely to be useful, although I have not used it so far, other than having to spend the two hours to charge the battery before being able to set it up.

However, be aware that if you are traveling and not on a home or business network, the wireless functions are useless, and operation is only possible using a direct cable connection to the printer. If you don’t need the scan and copy functions, I would look to a different manufacturer.

I would expect the problems would be the same with the HP print-only version as the set-up software appears to be the same for both the OJ-200 (printer only) and OJ-250 (all in one) versions. If you do purchase it, get the extended Staples warranttee on it, as based on my other experience with HP printers, they fail after a year or so, and it is expensive compared to non-portable units.

It does NOT come with all items needed to work after set up!! I do not mind needing additional set up since it is a multi-function machine. But come on now! No user manual with instructuons, no printed sheet with easy set up that lists AT LEAST the LINKS NEEDED to DOWNLOAD more set up just to simply PRINT A DOCUMENT.

No cord to connect to laptop! (Only wireless printing!). Ok but more downloading for since it is “wireless”. Hum, still can’t use it. I HAVE NEVER PURCHASED A PRINTER REQUIRING such work to set up. Over an hour of set up time and still cannot print a single document.

Followed all instructions and nothing, nada, zero.

Very easy to install to my Wi-Fi. My iPhone and iPad automatically recognized it when I printed from them. You can even scan from your phone directly to the printer no matter where you are. If you ever printed photos in a printer that doesn’t have a dedicated tray for photo papers, you know that it can be frustrating and it is prone to errors, making you waste time and money.

Fortunately, this HP Envy Inspire comes with a tray exclusive for photos that actually works and does so very well. Equally important, the pictures look professional, which is something really important to me because I take a lot of photos and I expect the best ones to look great on paper.

Text is excellent like all modern HP printers and the speed is very good for most home offices although it could be considered slow if you print a lot of work documents. What I dislike is the fact that it uses a tri-color cartridge, which is a waste of ink in my opinion.

You run out of magenta, for instance, and you have to buy another cartridge, wasting the remaining yellow and blue inks. Here are the Pros: • Easy menu on an LCD color screen • Dedicated photo tray with two-sided capabilities • Supports up to Wi-Fi generation 5 • Easy connection to mobile devices such as phones and tablets • Excellent photo and print quality • Great app features such as remote scan and print • Duplex printing, a must for many people and great to save paper.

• 6 months of Instant Ink included, which is sent to you automatically when the printer senses your running of ink And the Cons: • Only works with Original HP ink. It guarantees quality but HP ink is not cheap • Instant Ink Subscription is great and started cheap, but they just increased their price depending on your type of subscription.

It is convenient but it also optional, so you can decide whether this is a con or pro. • Tri-color ink cartridge. I prefer individual color cartdriges. • Doesn’t support the newest Wi-Fi generations 6 and 6e.

Not many homes have that yet, but it is the future of newer Wi-Fi routers. You can’t go wrong with an HP printer, and this one is no exception. Despite my complaints about their tri-color cartridge and Instant Ink subscription, which is somewhat pricey but very convenient, especially if you print a lot, its print quality is unmatched.

With this printer, my expectation was not that it could produce perfect, professional quality photo prints at its price point. I was looking at this as something my family could use to make a quick print from a phone or tablet on the go.

That’s pretty much exactly how this printer is being marketed. I have had a similar printer for several years, and lately it has started to deteriorate, but I had a baseline for comparison from when it was new.

In Terms of design, I personally like the simple, streamline, utilitarian build that doesn’t take up excess space and doesn’t have excessive “styling”. The design of the paper trays and the out-feed are well thought out.

Selecting the correct place to put various stock sizes is very easy. The out-feed support is a very simple piece that slides out easily, not at all like the complicated, clunky, noisy and now broken mechanical out-feed that was on my old printer.

Overall, though made of plastics, the printer feels solid, and there don’t appear to be unnecessary bits and pieces that can break off, dislodge or otherwise become problems. When setting up the printer I was prompted to install a mobile app, and a QR code was provided that linked my phone to the app.

After installing the app, basic setup of the printer was extremely simple, and I ran the printer through some calibration and test prints. While not silent this printer is much quieter, and also much quicker to start prints than my previous printer.

The machine doesn’t shake rattle and roll, just a couple of noises as the paper is picked up then there is just a nice smooth finish. The app on the phone seems to be pretty handy, especially considering the limited number of options that the mobile device has natively for printing.

There was a bit of learning curve to navigating some of the options to get exactly what I wanted, in particular I found changing sizes to be difficult. After running through several prints on my phone, I decided to try out printing from my windows laptop.

Normally, when I print from the laptop I simply use the built-in print utility and everything works fine. I have done this with a variety of printers. The laptop saw the printer on my network and I figured I was all good to go.

This is the first printer that I have had that forced me to download the brand specific print application so that I could change certain preferences, and unlike the phone, I found the printing process very convoluted on the laptop.

For example, when I tried to print a photo from the laptop at the highest output resolution, it would continually throw back to a lower quality when I selected the exact photo stock paper that was recommended.

This was a bit frustrating and I had to play a bit of guessing game to find which combination of paper would work for the output I wanted. In terms of print quality, I cannot complain about the sharpness of the prints as all of the high-resolution images that I printed from both my phone and laptop looked nice and crisp.

I was however disappointed with the color reproduction. This printer just seems to struggle with skin tones. Everything seems too red and over-saturated. I ran the calibration utility, and then I scanned an older photo that I had using the printer’s built in scanner.

The scan to laptop utility worked very well and the image that I saw on the laptop was a very accurate, very true to color and tone copy of the photo. When I printed it out, the skin tones were simply too red.

This seems like a very big flaw for a printed that will primarily be used to produce pictures of family and most likely people more than anything else. The printer came with a free 6-month subscription to the HP ink delivery service.

I have not had the printer long enough to say whether this service will be worth paying for later. I will say that the ink tanks on this printer are combined 3 color in one cartridge tanks, meaning that when you are out of cyan, you have to swap the whole tank.

This is something that I cam not fond of. Considering the small size of the tanks I feel like I will be blowing through ink cartridges quite quickly, though the documentation for the ink delivery program states that the tanks you will received through that service have more prints in them than the XL tanks you can purchase at retail stores.

Overall, I feel like this printer is just ok. It has some solid design and some nice capabilities (the wireless scanning is my favorite feature so far!). On the downside, it’s difficulty printing skin tones and some of the difficulty I had in the Windows environment are pretty big issues, especially considering the price point is higher than some similar printers I have owned or encountered.

This is a very nice little printer! I like how it’s able to print wirelessly, but I wish it had come with a USB cable just in case it needed a direct connection. HP is like Apple in that they require only HP products to be used with this printer, any other brand of ink cartridge will not work with it.

One must follow the steps in the quick-setup guide that comes with the printer TO THE LETTER, and I was very careful to opt out of all advertising, customized experiences and product recommendations, and subscriptions of any kind.

None of these are required to make the printer work. It’s important to only download the HP Smart app (computer or phone) and I believe you also must register the printer under your name by making an HP account for the device.

That’s about it. Performance-wise it’s fast, easy, clean, and accurate. I get some really crisp pages out of it, and at 1200dpi I can scan some really crisp ones into my computer! Copies are just as clean as the originals and the color is chef’s kiss.

I gave it four stars for all the extra steps in trying to figure out the app and the fact it didn’t just come with a USB cord, but I wanted to give it five for performance.

My old printer was so old that I had difficulty in getting the branded inks for it. For a while I used generic copies but then one leaked into the printer and onto my desk. I decided that it was time to purchase a new one.

I went along to John Lewis and a very helpful young man assisted me showing me the different models. I really wanted one with a separate draw for photo paper and this one filled the bill. I went home to sort out my finances and proceeded to order it on line.

It arrived very quickly the next day and I went and collected it. It was relatively easy to set up and I am really pleased with the results. The quality of photographs is excellent. I signed up to have new inks sent when mine were running low which I thought was a really good idea.

I can now print from the computer iPad and iPhone. All in all I am very happy with my new printer and I would certainly recommend it to anybody else thinking of purchasing one and the place to get it plus the option of extended insurance is from John Lewis.

This printer is awful, please do not buy it. I was excited initially about the ability to print wirelessly from anywhere, but this printer constantly disconnects from the network. Since it has no touchscreen display, it takes about 2 hours or more every time for me to figure out how to get it reconnected.

Their “virtual assistant” through the app is useless, it gives you a list of options to select from, but none of them fit my situation. Save yourself the headache, spend the extra money to get a printer with a LCD display, so you can be directly prompted by the printer itself on what to do.

The little extra money you’d save in buying this one, you will spend 10 times over in Tylenol and frustration. I don’t print things very often, but when i do, i need it to work. Having to fight with it for hours on end every single time is absolutely not where it’s at, but because i do print somewhat infrequently, it was well past the return period by the time i realized this was going to be an “every single time” problem.

I bought this printer 13 months ago. I just started a small business and use it primarily for printing out black and white documents and color documents every once in a while. I used to have an hp desk jet 15 years ago that lived to be 10+ years so I felt confident buying this brand.

Big mistake, as with most companies that date back everything has turned subscription based. I am not a fan of their cartridge program because I do not like the fact that hp has access to the documents I print (highly sensitive).

I declined this feature for security and left me with the inability to get help when my printer was having issues. Another big issue with this printer is the cost of the cartridge if you aren’t involved in their program.

The printer really doesn’t print that much for each cartridge and it would have been cheaper to go to a fedex and print there. The bluetooth portion of the printer has been a complete joke. Each time I want to print, none of my devices can see the printer’s bluetooth.

I have to go the printer restart it completely and then restart my device each time. Not really sure the bluetooth is working properly. I also have a Macbook and apparently hp is not compatible so you can’t get into any settings without downloading their app.

But even the app cannot pick up on the bluetooth. The worst part about this printer is that in this 13th month of having this printer, it started taking 10 mins to print each page. I went to customer service but because I am now a month out of my 1 year warranty I don’t qualify for any customer assistance other than their virtual assistant which only answers up to 4 questions.

I would have expected better support. With all that said, I buying a new printer (different brand) and going to destroy this one ‘Office Space’ style before I have an aneurysm.

When my HP 5640 gave up the ghost after nearly 10 years of reliable service, I needed to replace it with a printer of similar quality whose cost would not break my piggy bank. I found this printer, the price was right, and it had several features my now departed printer did not have (such as scan and copy).

When I received it, I was surprised by how lightweight it was. But setting it up was a snap (directions included for doing so were clear and easy to follow). Inserting the ink cartridges was a new experience since they required being “snapped” into place instead of closing a spring-loaded cover.

However, when I loaded it up with paper (the feeder is substantially smaller than what I was used to with my previous printer), turned it on, and then had my laptop print its first page to it, I was satisfied with the result.

I was pleased to see that I could also “print” to a PDF format instead of paper, if I chose that option. This printer also has the capability of using a Wi-Fi connection via a router using Bluetooth protocols), and that means more than one device can use it from anywhere within range PLUS one can use a cellphone or tablet (with Wi-Fi capability) to print out a document to it.

I did not try that option, so I do not know how well it works. But the best featureis that the printer can order additional ink cartridges when it senses they are getting low–provided you set that option up with HP when you register the printer AND as long as you leave the Wi-Fi connection open.

I also tried the scan and copy functions, and they worked quite well. However, both those functions work only with standard paper, so things like framed photos and the like cannot be done. All in all, this printer will serve my needs AND the ink cartridges are substantially less expensive than they were for my previous printer (like about a third the cost), so that definitely makes up for any “inconveniences” there may be with this printer–as in paper loading is not quite as simple as loading a tray and the receiving tray does not extend out long enough to properly hold the printed sheets without them slipping off onto the floor.

Also there is no reverse print option, so printing out a series of pages that are meant to be in order will need to be reversed by hand. And while the software accommodates two-sided printing, that must be done one at a time by hand (while the printer waits for you to flip the sheet and then it in the paper tray a second time) as each side is ready to be printed.

I will also be interested to see how long the ink cartridges last compared to what I used before. However, the two supplied “beginner” cartridges (that supposedly held much less ink than the “regular” ones I will need to buy did provide me with two good weeks of printing, or about 150 pages total.

The regular cartridges claim to produce at least double that. The unique aspect was that the software needed to run the printer had to be downloaded from a dedicated website and not from a disk, but once installed it identified my printer and all worked well.

It includes features like choosing specific pages to print (helpful when you only need certain pages–like from a multi-paged digital document), adjusting margins, adjusting print quality (draft, normal, best) and resolution (up to 1200 dpi), and having access to a wide variety of paper sizes Including envelopes, index cards, etc.

I found the printer even worked well with label sheets and photo paper, but I doubt that anything thicker or stiffer than that would not be handled by this printer. So if you’re looking for a printer that can handle relatively light printing demands from home uses, then this one is perfect.

If you are looking for something to handle the level of a typical office’s output, then I would suggest looking for a different model. But either way, I can say that HP is a brand I totally trust for reliability.

I bought this printer thinking it would have the basics for an older couple with an up to date Windows 10 PC I was helping who do not have WiFi, but just wired internet. All printers I have ever bought have either worked by just plugging it in by USB, or by downloading a driver from the official website.

I went through the HP Smart App Prompts several times, and the printer was “Setup” and “Ready”, but all I could do was print test pages from the app. I even tried setting it up through Windows Printers/Scanners List, but still would have issues.

In all other applications like Microsoft Edge or Microsoft Word, the print jobs would get stuck in queue and go no where. As an IT, I tried several ways to get it working with printing from other apps, but it would not work.

Removing the printer, then re-setting it up. There was no way this older couple I was helping was going to figure this out if I was having a hay day with it. I like the printer, and it printed clearly, that part is great.

it just doesn’t support Windows 10 PCs from my knowledge, and nothing on the HP website I tried worked, and so I ran out of drivers/programs from their website to try. I have used the HP Envy 5070, and the HP Envy 7855 that use the very same HP Smart App as this 3755.

Those work, amazingly, almost to the point that you can plug and play. So the issues with 3755 was baffling. I went ahead an returned it, as it won’t work with Windows 10 computers it seems. If you are looking for a decent printer, look for a higher number of model than 3755 and spend the extra money.

Almost a Perfect Printer. The OfficeJet 9015e is replacing one of the best printers I have owned, the Canon MX922. The HP 9015e prints and scans much faster than Canon MX922. I can confirm the following features which made me stick with it despite having to return it to the store today for a replacement unit.

It does auto duplex printing and scanning so I don’t have to manually flip the paper when using this printer which makes scanning bills into searchable PDF docs a breeze. The HP 9015e has a great feature where you can setup a shortcut directly on the printer so you can send your scans to your OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.

, accounts without the need of your computer. You can also scan documents for digital faxes without needing a landline. If you don’t want to participate in the HP Ink program, simply buy your own ink instead of using the subscription ink that comes with the printer because the provided ink will be deactivated when you stop using the HP Ink program.

I signed up for the 700 pages a program for 6 mo. free and they already sent 2 ink refills to ensure I have enough ink at home despite not printing that much. If you don’t print 700 pages, it rolls over to the next month.

I plan to roll it back down to the $. 99 or $4. 99 a mo. level since I don’t print that much (15-100 pgs. mo. ). Just know that HP will deactivate the ink if it detects you are using their subscription ink after cancelling the subscription so have your own ink if you still want to print.

The Printer sounds like it will break at any moment, and I guess it did because I took it back when scanning to OneDrive produced an error message only when scanning from the Printer after it comes out of sleep mode.

It worked after I cleared the error message but didn’t have that problem when using the same shortcut from my laptop or phone. While I can’t print directly to DVDs like the MX922 or place regular paper and 4×6 photo paper in the printer at the same time, the easy of printing directly from my iPhone/Android devices, laptops, and scanning directly from the printer to cloud or networked storage devices makes this almost a perfect printer.

Hope the printer works out, and yes, I contacted HP same day tech support twice which was nice since they have 7 day a week support using chat or phone support.

The printer has been good so far, though on rare occasion it seems to slip trying to grab a sheet of paper. But that has only happened twice right at the beginning and since then it has not been an issue.

The bigger issue is that HP does not tell you that in order to use all of the features you paid for, you need to connect your computer to their servers with an HP account. That means that every single time you print, you are sending analytic data to HP for their marketing department to use.

If they offered a discount for ink, or a rebate, or even just some money for that, then I would say that was fine. You could make a choice how much this invasion of your privacy is worth to you. But in this case, you really do not have an option.

If you want to use a few of the basic functions of your printer (like scanning) you HAVE to create an account and you HAVE to connect to it to scan. This is called “HP Smart” and it is not optional. I am extremely annoyed by this REQUIRED invasion of my privacy.

I was able to find a workaround by using the built in features of MacOS to scan and print – but I lose out on some of the more advanced features the HP software provides. And none of this is advertised when you purchase the printer.

They sell you on all the cool features, but don’t easily disclose that you have to connect to their servers for every print or scan to take advantage of these features. I am keeping the printer because it is too big of a hassle to return and I found a workaround for basic scanning and printing built in to my OS.

But I will never buy another HP product and cannot recommend this printer to anyone else.

I returned the HP 9015e printer immediately as it did not come close to fitting my needs. It is my opinion the whole HP+ line of printers is garbage mainly because of their software. First of all, I am a long time HP Printer user and have liked them previously.

My current HP printer broke after 12 years so I didn’t think twice to go pickup a new HP printer. I was wrong in thinking things would be the same, after all it is just a printer, right!? 1. Quality is nowhere near my decades old printer.

Plastics aren’t as good, seams don’t align as nicely and ink cartridges do not slide in easily nor do they provide positive feed-back that they are even seated correctly. The paper tray and paper catcher just seemed clunky and cheap to me as well.

2. Setup is a joke. The setup assistant can’t add printers to a different WIFI SSID then from computer running the setup. Ever hear of having printers and computers on separate networks? So you have to add it manually from the printer itself and the keyboard layout is most silly thing I have seen and has no QWERTY layout.

Once you tackle that the 6 months free ink is a joke as well because it is dependent on entering your credit card and signing up for some subscription service (which you can cancel at anytime) so they can start charging you after 6 months is up.

3. The printer does not like name changes or changing to static IP. I had to factory reset and start over because it messes up registration with HP and their Smart App. 4. Printer REQUIRES internet so you can print.

If you need to print from outside your home, sure, maybe you need this feature. Or maybe you have VPN and can connect privately that way. Or maybe you just want to print to your own printer in your private home on your private network, nope, you still need internet access.

Of course, HP will say, just use usb cable or WIFI Direct feature which are silly responses. There is NO need for REQUIRING internet access to print. The only purpose this services is so HP can monitor your usage and sell your data.

Or they’ll say they need to monitor ink levels. Again silly, my 12 year old HP printer told me when ink was low just fine without needing an internet connection. 5. The only thing they did right, was the plastic bag the printer comes in.

It has handles built-in so you can easily lift the printer out of the box. In short, loved the plastic bag it came in, everything else is garbage. I went with a different brand entirely and couldn’t be happier.

It didn’t have the cool plastic bag but all the other issues where a non-issue.

IšverstiShow in original languageYou really have to ask yourself: How often do I print in color, or rather, how often do I actually NEED to print in color? If the answer is very seldom or not at all, do yourself a favor NOW and get a laser printer.

This one is very good. Others may be better for your needs. I don’t know, I’m not your Dad. Or maybe I am. This printer has a nice small form factor and prints quickly and accurately. It has wifi. I don’t know how well it works because I am a barbarian from the wasteland and I have it plugged into my PC tower via USB.

It does not have any fancy features like double-sided printing, nor does it have a scanner built in. For me, I like this because I feel like there is less to go wrong. My only gripe (and it’s not necessarily specific to this printer) is that while a laser printer cartridge definitely is a better value per page printed than any inkjet, it’s still not as good as I would have hoped.

The cartridges are also large and not easy to dispose of/recycle easily.

It is also capable of duplex printing manually. Just select double sided print, and the printer will print out paper on one side. Then transfer the printed out sheets back to the input tray and press a button on the printer and it will pick up the printed sheets to print on the other side.

While nice, would be annoying if you need to consistently need duplex printing and you would look for another model with automatic duplex print. This printer is great if you only need to occasionally need basic functionality to print out documents and don’t need a scanner/fax/copier and you have limited space.

Set up was easy, although the interface for the driver downloads was a bit convoluted. It offers “basic drivers” which is what I really wanted, but then it warns you that a bunch of functionality you’ll really want (like wireless connectivity) requires the full software package.

My only gripes (and they’re very minor) is that the printer only takes about 50 sheets of paper. The printer (or software) doesn’t automatically recognize when paper has been put in. It remains in a “paper out” state until you physically press a button on the printer; finally, the print quality with some Quickbooks output is poor; but it only seems to happen with Quickbooks.

I wanted to like this — I still WANT to like it. It’s sleek, small, purportedly super savvy — but I literally just cannot get it to print for the life of me. Everytime I try to print something I spend half of the time regretting everything and the other trying to rationalize about sunk costs and such, until I finally just decide ‘forget it’ and I’ll read onscreen whatever I was hoping to expedite review of by printing it out.

In short: it is almost less than worthless, for the time and energy I have to spend to get to the point where I give up. In fairness, this happens only approx 80% of the time I try to use it — so occasionally it surprises me.

And in actual fairness, I’ve never figured out what the problem is – no matter how much or little I’ve tried — and when I need it, I really need it and so typically don’t have time to troubleshoot (tried that too – the AI process is worthless).

So in all I strongly regret. Probably not having one at all would be far better.

Style points are off the chart! This is the perfect printer for someone who just needs to print things every now and then for everyday family type needs. I followed the steps to set it up and didn’t have any problems, even when setting up on my MacBook Air.

I didn’t love that you have to download an app to get it set up to a computer, but wasn’t the end of the world, and I’ve already printed from my phone a few times so ended up being great in the end. I haven’t had any problems to date with it not connecting after it’s been closed up for a while.

I tried printing some photos on the included paper and they aren’t bad for the level of printer. I wish some sort of pull-out catch tray was included in the design, I keep mine closed up until I need to print something, and have to make sure I’m there to catch the papers as I keep it on a cabinet that is only 12” deep.

Would have to be kept on a larger surface to not have to deal with papers falling. Also, some sort of space to keep paper when not in use would be a nice inclusion in the design. Right now I keep a small stack on top of the printer under the fabric cover.

The charcoal cover is definitely a dark blue/navy. More cover options would be nice. Very happy with this purchase!!!.

The printer is very cute and convenient but it is not worth it for the price. It’s really only good for printing things quickly. You can’t expect the best quality on your prints which I was expecting due to the price.

It is just a printer so I was expecting it to be great. The colors are very dull and don’t come out at all like what you are looking to print out. I tried many different things and any color I printed came out looking different.

I have tried to contact customer support from the HP app but when I fill out everything to get in contact with them it turns into a white screen and I never get in contact with anyone. I’m going to return it and get a different printer.

I do like how simple and small it is. Could have been a great printer.

My terrific Canon MX922 stopped working and I had to get a replacement in a hurry – Office Depot delivered this HP quickly! – thank you OD. Too bad I didn’t have time to research and get a better AIO than this stinker HP.

Amazing that HP, perhaps the top-selling printer maker, can’t turn out a decent all-in-one. Examples: printer comes out of the box set to scan at 200dpi, which results in a nasty, crude-looking scan.

Set it to 300dpi for decent results. When you copy from the printer front panel, it won’t remember the color/B&W choice from the last copy — you have set it every time. When you save a scan, PC software won’t remember the last save folder setting.

When you copy the bottom part of a long document on the glass, with the top part of the document extending over the side of the printer, a plastic tab sticks down from the lid and punches a hole in your document when you close the lid.

The bloated scanning software takes forever to load on my high end PC, and has a confusing user interface. The HP+ scheme forever locks out your choice of ink and will disable the printer if it is disconnected from the Internet for too long, and has other nasty features.

It’s a torturous process to avoid HP+ during setup, and you lose a year of warranty. If you ever allow the printer to do a firmware update, your non-HP ink may stop working. The noise it makes when copying and scanning is loud and truly obnoxious.

And that’s just what I remember off the top of my head. Need I go on?.

LONG STORY SHORT(er). When, after years of good service, my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600+ printer finally quit, HP pronounced it obsolete—no parts available. They talked me into buying an OfficeJet Pro 9015e (“It’s even better than the old 8600.

”). But when it arrived—after hours, days, even months (I’m a very patient person) of jumping through all the HP hoops—although it would copy and scan, it would not print from the computer. HP Support pronounced the new 9015e “Defective” and had me send it back for a “Replacement”.

The “Replacement” arrived in a plain brown box, was labeled “REFURBISHED” and was without a printhead. When I complained to HP Support, they answered, “All of our replacements are refurbished. ” They refused to refund my payment.

Another week of waiting for them to send the printhead. After, yet, another week of HP Support and myself re-jumping through all the hoops, the “Refurbished” was the same as the new one had been. It would not print from the computer.

HP Support determined that the only way it would work properly was for me to give up my Windows 7 for a Windows 10 even though the online ad for the 9015e claimed to be compatible with a Windows 7. So, I DID! And, finally, the “Refurbished” 9015e would print from the computer.

Obviously, shortening this report omits all the anger & frustration that occurred. Yet, the end result is. I paid ($250 w tax) for a new 9015e and ended up with a “Refurbished” (used) 9015e and was compelled to surrender my entire comfortable Windows 7 for a thoroughly discombobulating Windows 10 to get the 9015e to print-from-computer.

My suggestion: If you don’t have or want Windows 10, be very leery of buying a printer from Hewlett Packard.

The printer arrived before the promised delivery date. It was well packaged and easy to unpack and install. This is the second printer of this model that my Husband has installed. The first printer was installed in a matter of an hour or so, and this included signing up for the Instant Ink service.

The HP OfficeJet 8020e was selected for use as a network COLOR printer, and for use as a networked scanner – to be used by our families multiple Windows and Linux computer systems. This printer was purchased to replace a 6-year old ENVY 5530 all-in-one printer, that became totally non-functional after a multiple hour “debugging” session with HP Support technicians.

Prior to the support call, the ENVY 5530 could print, but its scanner suddenly stopped working. It has been used as a low-volume copier/printer, and to scan original documents for storage or transmission.

After the multi-hour support call, the ENVY 5530 printer is now a dead paper-weight, and now will not print or scan. The first HP8020E that my Husband installed only required a 5-minute installation of the required print driver for Windows, and it was instantly available for use as a network printer by our Windows and Linux computer systems.

The new HP 8020E, however, REQUIRES that you install HP SMART PRINT on a Windows system, before you can even sign up for the Instant Ink service. We experienced difficulties in (1) the installation of Smart Print, (2) updating HP’s Support Assistant, and (3) attempting to add the new printer to our existing Instant Ink account.

My guess is that some folks may have had trouble in the past either installing the appropriate Windows printer driver, or maybe they had difficulty in using printer’s built-in Web Server for any of its fancier functions, such as scanning from a networked computer.

And the “fix” by HP appears to have been to require the use of the HP Support Assistant and/or the HP Smart Printer application. The Smart Print application, however, kept confusing the previous ENVY 5530 printer with the HP OfficeJet 8020E printer and so kept claiming that the “proper” driver –was– installed, but the app (Win10 program) could not communicate with the newer HP 8020E printer – and the app suggested that we call HP Support for assistance.

After several different phone calls, and hard to hear conversations, the problems were finally resolved. As soon as the necessary changes were made to our Instant Ink account, the printer was fully operational from all of our computing devices.

Would I purchase this printer again? YES! The printer works flawlessly and does everything we needed.

First of all, I want to say that I purchased this printer after reading a ton of positive reviews and based on my great experience with my old OfficeJet printer that lasted for years and always provided excellent quality prints and scans.

I was 100% confident in my purchase of this product, now I wish I had never bought it. I have had nothing but problems from the day I got it home. I did not want to connect to my wi-fi (and I have excellent wi-fi speed with boosters all over my home that were professionally installed by my carrier).

Then, it didn’t want to connect to my Dell computer. After many HP support chats, I finally got the thing set up, but it won’t stay connected to my laptop. I’m constantly having to run the HP Smart Troubleshoot and repair it to get it to reconnect to my computer.

I’m replacing the ink for the first time, using a generic ink from a brand that I have always used and trust well. I just put the new ink cartridges in the printer gave me an error message “Cartridges Rejected”, “The indicated cartridges have been identified as altered or cloned”, “HP+ Printers require Original HP cartridges.

Replace the non-original cartridges to continue printing”!!!! Now, if you don’t mind all of this, this print quality is good, and the scan quality is good. I haven’t had any trouble with paper jams either.

Mechanically, it’s a well-built printer and worth the money. That is if you want to spend all of your money on overpriced ink and all of your time fighting to constantly reconnect it to your non-HP computer! So for Value, I’m rating this a 1 because they expect you to spend all of your money on HP supplies, including the computer that you connect it to.

Quality, I’ll rate it a 4 because when you are able to print or scan, the quality that you would expect from an OfficeJet is there, but I’m very disappointed with the time that I have to spend to get it to produce.

For Ease of use, I would rate it a 0 if I could. Would I recommend this product, as I stated, only if you have a newer HP computer and are willing to spend the money on HP supplies, including paper.

I bought this a couple months ago with the intent of using it for both personal and work use, as I work from home. The initial set up process was okay, as I bought this printer with the full intent of using the HP+ and Instant Ink services, so I knew I’d need it connected to wifi and all that.

However, the HASSLE that came with also trying to get the printer connected via USB to my work computer which utilizes a VPN rendering the wireless connection unable to be used – was ridiculous. You would think the printer would be able to be connected to a computer and work the same way printers always have worked, but it still needed the wireless connection for set up which was interfering with my ability to use it.

Long story short there, through a lot of work with my work IT guys, we figured out how to simultaneously have it connected wirelessly to my personal computer while also connected through USB to my work computer and both options work to print and scan.

It was a seemingly unnecessarily long, complicated process to get to that point in the first place though. What’s troubling me now is that sometimes the printer just wants to refuse or takes forever to print something, especially if it has been a little while since I used it.

It will sit and make all kinds of annoying LOUD noises like it’s *going to* print, but never actually prints anything until you cancel (which also takes forever) and restart the printer. This is what I’m talking about when I say when it works it’s great.

When it is seamlessly printing, the quality is good. I like to print pictures on letter paper and the print and color quality for those are nice. The HP+ or HP smart whatever app on my computer has nice features and I enjoy the Instant Ink service a great deal as well.

It’s just the hassles that this printer sometimes has to just go through the simple task of printing that drives me insane.

I bought this unit to replace a Brother color laser printer that wasn’t meeting my increased printing needs now that I am almost 100% telework. I was looking for crisp color copies, a reasonable ppm speed, a document feeder and scanner for duplication, and a small enough footprint that it would fit in the same space as the unit it was replacing.

This model fit all of those requirements. Another very important requirement was that it had auto duplexing available. Manual duplex is fine for a few sheets, but printing out manuals really needs auto duplex.

The fact that this unit has auto duplex was the deciding factor for me. Most of the set up process was uneventful, but here’s where things went sideways: gone are the days of getting a set up disc. Now you must download from the web.

The HP site is VERY controlling about how the download proceeds based on your OS and version. The site kept directing me to download their app, and then to set up from the app, but it became a circular path when the app couldn’t discover the printer and kept sending me back to the website — to download the app.

Eventually I gave up, went to the website on my laptop (not the desktop where the printer will be installed) and dug around until I could manually download a software bundle that included the different OS and version of the desktop.

I copied that to a flashdrive and installed it on the desktop, and then followed the instructions for set up. All was fine and good, EXCEPT the printer could not find its auto duplexing unit!!! The printer properties didn’t offer any way to change from Manual to Auto (there was no Auto duplex setting available), and no amount of browsing through the user guide gave me any additional insight.

I was not happy. I finally disconnected the USB cable, shut everything down, then rebooted. I plugged in the USB cable and turned on the printer after the computer was fully booted, and checked the settings.

No change. Fast forward to the next day, boot up computer, turn on printer, pull up a document hat needs printing and discover to my absolute joy and puzzlement, that I now have an Auto Duplex option.

So I don’t know what all that was about, but it was far too random and frustrating for a standard user process. HP needs to fix that. Otherwise, I like the printer and can now use it the way I had wanted.

I’ve had this printer in use now for about a month. It’s in my home so it doesn’t get a lot of use. I picked it after my high-capacity inkjet started to give problems after I retired. I wasn’t using it as frequently, and the printheads would get clogged up with dried ink.

I never managed to resolve this completely. Frequent cleaning resolved it for a short while but blank sections on printouts came back more regularly. Now, cleaning the printheads does little and to get clear printouts, I had to use “high quality” mode which, of course, uses a lot more ink.

So the inkjet was too problematic, hence by decision to go with a colour laser printer which would not suffer from dried out ink problems. I guess I gave up a little on picture quality but I rarely used the inkjet for photos anyway.

Any photos printed on the laser printer so far, have just been those associated with regular documents; I’ve not tried printing any of my own photos yet. Anyway, I’m entirely happy with the quality of printing from this printer.

So far, no problems at all. It’s totally wireless so no need to connect directly to my PC so location placement offers more choices. Printing can be done easily from my PC, tablet, or phone. I also tried out the remote printing over the internet and it worked flawlessly.

I bought this directly from the HP Canada website because it was cheaper than Staples or BestBuy because they offered a discount + free shipping. It took a week to get from Ontario to British Columbia.

Overall, I’m a happy customer.

Excellent choice for small office. Bought this one for my second office, first one in use for nearly 2 years. No issues! Printer does what it is made for: printing and scanning 😉 I love the air-print feature, allowing me to print emails directly from my phone, when connected to WiFi.

Printing when not connected via WiFi is possible through email, but I do not use this feature. Printing duplex/two-sided papers is possible and very convenient! One small imperfection: Scanning of two sided/duplex pages is only manually possible.

You have to flip the page yourself. You can flip manually or scan stack two times and then manually rearrange scan in app. But it can get messy, when you scan large print outs… but I knew it. Plus, HP printers with auto-flip for scanning cost much more! And keep in mind the cartridges are expensive (you need four) but that should be known for laser printers.

I only use original HP ones. Five high-yield cartridges costs as much as the whole printer! Nevertheless, I love my HP laser color printer.

From day one I’ve had nothing but problems with this thing. I know everyone says they’re tech savvy, but as a PC enthusiast that builds from scratch and is well aware of troubleshooting. But this thing.

If it’s not possessed I can’t come up with a solution. First off, it took almost an hour to set up, and that’s not even counting the half a dozen times HP tries to shove it’s subscription offer down your throat.

Once your forced into downloading their app (yup, no driver file) and registering online for an account (yup), THEN you get full access to your printer. And I will agree, it worked fine after that until later that night.

It would wake up and grind it’s gears for a few minutes with a “Firmware unable to update” message on the screen. This went on for weeks and the only resolution was to unplug it. One day a couple months later it randomly showed a message that the firmware was updated successfully.

No idea how, when, or why but ok. For ink, it’s a hog. And there’s nothing really out there generic wise to save some cash so your stuck with OEM ink. Or pushed into a monitoring subscription service where HP monitors how many pages you print and how much ink your using monthly (yup, again).

The breaking point was tonight. Between the HP Smart App and the print service needed on phones makes it all but impossible to print (feel free to school reviews of HP print spooler). Could not get it to connect properly or print.

Either through a normal connection or wifi direct. This printer spends more time installing unnecessary apps on devices and over monitoring the usage. Add that in with terrible connectivity and compatibility issues and it’s over.

Unfortunately it met a sad ending today and will not be missed at all. My parting words for a horrible, horrible, printer. “PC Load Letter”.

When my Canon printer died, I needed a printer that was less costly on ink. After reading a ton of reviews I went with the 8025E since it was inexpensive and very good on ink usage. The setup was easy until I had to finish the setup using the app.

My PC is hooked up directly to my router, so it isn’t wireless and it doesn’t use bluetooth. So I couldn’t use the app. So I tried using my tablet, after installing the app, the app would lockup during the setup.

I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app several times but kept locking up. Then I decided to hook up the ethernet cable from my PC to the printer to finish the setup but I can’t keep the cable hooked up since it turns off the wifi.

I went back to my tablet and the app detected the printer. I was able to install the app on 2 other devices to detect the printer which is a stupid design since I should leave it to the OS to detect the printer.

Back to my PC since it wouldn’t detect the printer w/o the ethernet cable hooked up, I had to buy a bluetooth adapter to finish the app setup, then install the USB cable. Why couldn’t the USB cable be used to setup the printer instead of bluetooth or wireless???? As I said stupid design!!!! If the initial setup was done from the front panel, I wouldn’t have this problem.

As far as functionality, printing, copying, scanning, double sided printing worked great. But if I want to print from another room, I have to physically turn on the printer since the remote turn on is an added payable feature.

Time will tell how much it will cost for ink since I signed up for the instant ink program. I dropped the overall rating to 3 because of the setup fiascal.

Received on 8-9-2022, would not set up HP account, does not scan to PDF format; have been troubleshooting on my own for >8 hrs. today. Had to contact HP support twice. They installed new drivers (not included in set-up), new apps, and when they couldn’t resolve issues, they wanted to connect me with a pay-for-support team, they also wanted to uninstall firewall to troubleshoot remotely.

Finally, they said that there was an issue with my computer. Windows 10. I shudder to think of trying to set this printer up on my tablet, and will require several days of decompression before I tackle that! Yes, it prints, it’s fast, and the copies are perfect.

But for now, I’ll have to keep my old printer to scan, and this one to copy. Maybe this just isn’t Windows friendly; or not friendly towards me at all. HP also said that the warranty expires in 23 days, and I just purchased this “all in one” printer.

All in one print, yes, Scan, no. Not for my intentions/purposes.

Purchased the HP Envy Inspire 7958e since my older hp printer finally gave out. The new printer had the right features at the right price. The 6 months of free hp instant ink was also a plus. The setup was a breeze through the hp smart app, but unfortunately the printer out of the box could not complete the printhead alignment.

It also would not print in cyan. No matter how many times I cleaned the printhead, the cyan would not print on the diagnostic report. I wasted an hour of my life. 😡 and I ended up returning it. I purchased the same exact model again for a second time.

The set up was a breeze and alignment completed without a glitch. however, same exact problem again. NO CYAN!!!! At this point, I don’t know if it’s a crappy tri color ink cartridge or a faulty printhead.

Updated the printer, but the same result. I’m not gonna waste my time attempting to chat with a HP rep. I’m just gonna return this HP junk for a 2nd time.

Buyer Beware. Bought the HP 7958e Envy Inspire a couple days ago. After getting it set up I printed about 5 or 6 color 4×6 pics before the ink ran out. This was within the first hour of use. It gave me no warning.

I know the initial ink included with new printers is minimal but this was crazy. Very frustrating. Regretting this purchase. Now held hostage for at least 10 business days in hopes of receiving instant ink replacement.

Normally I always have backup cartridges and would never run out. Waiting 10 business days for cartridges each time you run out of ink is unacceptable. If you use this printer for work, school etc beware when it runs out it won’t print.

When the 6 month free instant ink trial expires I will not be renewing. Can’t rate printer itself as used under 1 hour.

I have had all HP printers for many many years. This one is not equal to the others I have owned. He claims that it’s an all in one, but I do not see a way to fax anything. In addition, when printing a document it prints it halfway, then says it is drying which takes several seconds and then it continues to print the rest of the page.

It also says that it has two-sided copying which is true. However, if I put a document in the feeder that is two-sided, it does not copy both sides. It requires that you lift up the lid and put the flipside on the glass.

As I said it’s just not up to the standards that I am accustomed to from my copiers. Other than that it is doing a fine job of printing and would be adequate for general household use. I would not recommend it for a business though.
