20 Best Hotspot Spray For Dogs (2023 Updated)

My small four year old fur baby has had hot spots for a few year’s now. I have tried so many different remedies and products for his hot spots, from changing several dog foods, specialized shampoo’s, sprays, medications, etc.

to try to help, although, nothing seemed to work. However, I just recently tried and started using Vet’s Best Hot Shot Foam and it has been working wonderfully! It seems to work better than anything else we have ever used on him, and it works almost instantly to give him quick relief! It relieves his itching and scratching.

This foam is easy to apply, takes just a few pumps, and is affordable. It leaves his skin and fur moisturized and most importantly it’s natural, Paraben free, sulfate free, no artificial colors, and fragrance free.

It’s made with tea tree oil, aloe vera, chamomile, and collagen. Although it’s fragrance free it still has a nice minty scent. The only con is, I have to rub this foam into my dog’s fur or it will fall off because it doesn’t dissolve instantly.

I would highly recommend this product and will be trying other Vet’s Best products, as well.

I am glad I tried Vet’s Best Hot Shot foam on my dog. My dog is getting older and experiencing some health problems that have him lying around more than he used to. He has developed areas of sore skin that gets flakey and seems bothersome to him.

I have tried various things to help heal these areas but nothing has really worked. Even using it just a short time, it seems that this foam is improving these troubled spots. The skin looks healthier, better moisturized and smoother and my dog seems to be paying less attention to the spots which makes me think he must be feeling more comfortable.

The product is easy to use. It is packaged in a container that makes it easy to apply. I really like that this product is all natural ingredients and I don’t have to worry about chemicals that could further harm my dog’s health.

It also has a nice scent that makes it more pleasant to use. I’m glad I finally found something that works well and is safe for my old buddy.

When we first got him we noticed certain shampoos made him itch so we switched and found the perfect shampoo, or so we thought. After a couple of months my dog was constantly licking his paws, dry spots on his tummy that then cause red spots to appear.

We took him to the vet where they told us the shampoo is fine, that these symptoms are from seasonal allergies. We have a hedgehog that’s has had numerous skin issues. I’ve tried searching for any information on this animal, but information found is often conflicting. We don’t have a vet within 100 miles that will see a hedgehog or isn’t accepting new patients.

After reading other reviews I purchased this item, desperate for anything that might the poor little ‘Rosie’. It has worked great on her skin, the hedgehog’s skin can quickly dry out and gets a huge range if problems, many are the same as us.

Finding a product that stays on their skin long enough and doesn’t get everything stuck to it is a obvious plus. That it’s in a easy to spray bottle helps me get the areas that I normally couldn’t. They can pass things into other pets and to people.

Having a younger daughter that loves Hedgehogs more than anything, except her 2 cats, I need to try and help and protect them all. This is a great product, especially getting it lower priced for reoccurring delivery.

I really don’t think hedgehogs should of been breed to finally be able to be ‘pets’. I’ve done my homework and research on them, there is still so much unknown about them. Even still studies and debates of what to feed them.

They do not make any type of good pet for a adult or child, they can and do get easily brick or hurt and good luck finding a vet that will see them and acutally know how to treat them. For the price they cost, there are many other animals that are a much better fit to be a pet.

Even after all the reading I did prior to getting one, it wasn’t until It was home and a few days went by that I deeply regretted getting it. Especially now that I can’t find a vet for it and if it was for me stumbling across this spray medicine on your site, ‘Rosie’ probably wouldn’t still be here today.

Please think twice before getting one, especially with the holidays coming up. You don’t want to get a pet that really isn’t interactive, that you can’t take to get the proper care, just because they look cute.

I will diffently always have a bottle or two if vetericyn pet wound spray on hand for it’s versitile use on any animal and it’s quick response I’m helping the skin wound to heal. If you own any pet, you should own a bottle of this 2.

Recieved a 3oz bottle of Vetericyn Plus Hotspot Antimicrobial Hydrogel for free in exchange for an honest review. I have to say, this stuff is amazing! My lab/beagle mix suffers from skin allergies, and the poor thing will scratch and chew herself until she bleeds, so I was very eager to try this product.

The day I received it, I rubbed down her belly with it (this is where she itches the most) and it seemed like she felt instant relief. When she starts scratching, I apply a thin layer of the gel and she stops almost immediately.

And it lasts for hours! I love that it is a non-toxic alternative to antibiotics and steroids for a safer way to relieve skin, and vet approved. It’s comforting to know that it won’t make her sick if she licks it, and is made with ingredients I can pronounce.

My rottie tends to get dry skin in the Spring & Fall, making his coat appear very dull. This was my first time trying a Burt’s Bees product for dogs & it did not disappoint! Very simple to use – I just sprayed a pretty good amount on him from the back of the head down to his tail, prior to a normal brushing.

This did not leave an oily or sticky residue. I don’t feel it is very fragrant at all, which I’m fine with since the purpose was to help moisturize his skin/coat. I’ve also used this on him after a bath (while his coat was still damp).

Overall I really like this, my only complaint is I wish the bottle had a different type of spray nozzle – since he is such a big dog it takes a lot of sprays to get his coat covered well. This worked great to give my dog back his shiny black coat & ease the itchiness of his dry skin.

I will purchase this again!.

This spray is everything if you have pups to brush! I imagine that it works perfectly on all dogs, with no adverse reactions like itching. It makes our sheepadoodle look even more like the King of ALL Pups.

We also have a rescued doodle : not exactly perfected on which type of doodle : ) , but she’s one Curly Girlie. By that, I mean like the little girl on the Lilt home perm commercials from years ago – crying on the front porch with a mess of frizzy curls (if you’re old enough to remember that!) from her perm.

A light spray-as-you-go and a good brush and Millie goes from crazy to ‘Hi Smooth and Fluffy!’ in a flash. Try this product. not sure how you could lose!.

This conditioner is perfect. Barely scented. Doesn’t affect my allergies. Tried first spraying brushes and all the static fur stayed on the brush. My dog didn’t mind the product and the next day I started spraying directly on coat and then brushing.

In less than 10 days I could pet her without fur flying everywhere. Her fur feels so soft. I can tell my dog appreciates this conditioner. I will purchase this again because I love my dog.

My cat had started to pull his hair out from anxiety so his back had been red, scabby and irritated. Luckily I found the calming products and he almost immediately calmed down. Which is when I started to use this product to help his skin feel better.

I am so grateful I got this PetArmor Hydrocortisone Spray for Dogs & Cats. It has really helped my cat. She is an inside and outside cat and loves coming and going. In the summer months, though, she seems to get bit on her ears and it causes irritation and scabs.

This stuff is amazing. We have a three legged cat who is missing her back leg. Her skin gets very dry in the winter and without our help she can’t scratch one side of her face. Her dry skin really started last year and she was having these strange uncontrollable head bobbles.

Like all Earth Bath products I’ve used, the Mango Tango refresher spray works great and smalls amazing. I love every Earth Bath product I’ve tried. I love the company as well. They seem to truly care about the users of their products and formulate them gently with high quality, plant based ingredients and are very effective.

They also leave out soap, parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes, etc. They are cruelty free as well, as one would hope for an animal product company. This spray smells so good and the fragrance lasts on my dogs fur for a long time.

He never gets the unpleasant “dog” smell so I am not sure how it holds up to more pungent odors, but when used just to spruce or freshen up, it works awesome. My dog does not like the spray out of the bottle so I spritz my hands and massage him and work it n well.

He loves that, of course!.

When my 13 yr-old pitbull mix has trouble setting down for the night or getting up from her bed in the morning, I massage this Hemp Oil onto her shoulders and hips and sometimes onto her knees. She loves it.

My dog stretches out when I put this on her and then can have a good night’s sleep or a good morning walk. Sometimes I use it daily or sometimes she goes a few day without needing it. Smells great.

I have been using this on my golden retriever’s back hips and front shoulders. Unfortunately it stays in his fur for days on end and even ended up in his ear after rolling around in the snow. Therefore, it is not recommended for long hair dogs.

I purchased this product as the PH is perfect for dogs with the type of hair Maltese has. It stops breakage and snapping of the hair. The Shampoo is gentle on the skin but brings the coat to a brilliant snow white from tiny paws to the face.

Thee dogs tear but the shampoo letting it sit while bathing the rest takes the tearing to a white color. O f course I place 1 drop of mineral oil in each eye so not to get the soap in them but the dogs never act like they have ever had a drop of soap irritate then in any way on any part of the body.

When I sell my pups I always give them the samples of the shampoo and conditioner and tel them DO Not use anything else and you do Not need to take them to a professional groomer who has harsh chemical when you have the best right here.

I’ve been using this on my sheep. Chase them around with the spray; I don’t get a chance to rub it in but it helps keep the flies from annoying them. I have also washed them with the shampoo! (Harness and tie on a tree with a hose!) I have the prettiest, healthiest looking sheep around! I use the fly spray around the door entry of our home too, in the ducks shed, around the chicken coop.

I really like this product!.

I have two maltese that their beards and feet were getting stained. They do have eye staining as well. They have been bathed twice with the shampoo and conditioner. I like how it makes there hair look bright.

The conditioner gives it sheen I have noticed that it helps with knots. One of my babies had knots bad and it helped to put the conditioner on and let it sit then comb it out a bit.

My cat drools when I pet him and this has caused him to start to get cat acne. I needed something to clear it up and this seems to be working. The directions don’t say how often to use, instead saying to consult your vet.

I’ve been applying this once daily. I think twice daily might have made it work better but it is hard enough to get a cat to allow medicine to be applied once daily. This is a spray and since this is applied near his face I use a cotton swab soaked in the liquid and rub it on the affected area instead of spraying.

Once the whole area is clear I plan to wash his chin whenever he drools so hopefully it won’t come back. This is a large bottle and I didn’t need nearly this much. It would be nice if it came in half this size or even less.

After reading the reviews, I purchased this. My maltese is 9 and since the day I got him at 3 months old, he has had terrible problems with chewing on his paws. Through the years we used another brand of spray and allergy medicines.

Those worked just “okay”. As he gets older I find it’s getting worse. I was VERY happy to see the immediate relief this spray provided for him. It smells nice, too. As usual with Chewy, it arrived timely.

Bought this for my 15 year old Chi with a fungal infection on his feet. After taking him to the vet for a proper diagnosis, ordered this and the matching shampoo to hold him until I could get his prescription in the mail, had to be compounded bc of his weight.

He is only 6 lbs. First of all, the shampoo started clearing up the infection on it’s own and I used the spray after he would come in from outside or if he started chewing his feet. Worked like a charm.

Held him over beautifully until we got his medicine. Always get a diagnosis from your vet before you start treating them to make sure you are treating the right kind of infection. Not a replacement for seeing the vet if it is pretty far along in the infection, but if you catch it early it might stop it from progressing.

This is a really great product, I bought this for my pup because he had been digging at his paws. His paws were pretty red and bothered him almost the entire day. Didn’t take long to catch on, got this stuff because of the lidocaine.

It gave him immediate relief of itching and didn’t take long within a day of using it twice for 10 minutes with or without socks he stopped touching his paws completely. What is great about this product is I continued to apply it religiously for 3 more days and his redness has gone and no more digging at his paws at all.

It wasn’t just temporary it fixed his issue, I’ve only seen him lightly lick his paws once or twice and then I bring out the socks and spray. Highly recommend this product for your fur babies itchy paws.

I literally just purchased yesterday, normally I wouldn’t write a review this soon, but this stuff is amazing! I read the other reviews about the sprayer not working, but I haven’t had that issue. However, my dog is terrified of the sound the spray bottle makes and jumps and runs when I try to spray it directly into his hot spot.

I’ve discovered using a cotton round to apply is much more effective than trying to spray it directly on his hot spot. I’ve applied twice since purchasing last night and already the hot spot is starting to dry up, the redness has decreased significantly just since last night.

I’ve never seen results this quickly. This stuff may have saved us from an expensive trip to the vet.

The spray bottle itself doesn’t work at all. We put the product in an empty sprayer we bought from the store and it’s been fine. It seems like it stings when we put it on our dog’s hot spot but we’ve been using it for the past couple days and it might be working.

We also gave him a cone and started wrapping it to prevent licking though so I’m not sure how well it would work on its own.

Our Doberman gets hot spots frequently, especially on hee sides and feet, which causes her to lick frequently. This spray has come as a huge relief for her from the first use. She is good about leaving the spots alone with this spray on, and she rests longer without having to lick.

She looks forward to her sprays and lets us apply it any time with no fuss. A particular spot on top of her front paw had been raw form excessive licking but it is now healing since we started using this spray; visible results like that give me confidence that this product works well.

My dog has pollen allergies and has been getting frequent baths to wash off the pollen. I purchased this because it got such good reviews. It seems to desensitize the skin for a few days and the dog was less itchy.

But unlike other shampoos I have tried, this stuff does not dry out the coat and actually seems to improve it, leaving the dog glossy and shiny. I will purchase again!.

My furr baby Finn got into something that he was allergic too. We were fighting the hives down with Benadryl but wasn’t quite enough. So I did some research came across this to try. After two washes I can say the rash is all cleared up.

(Also changed a couple things that could have been causing his reaction when we noticed him having trouble. ) but 10/10 recommend.

So far I’ve only bathed my black lab once but I noticed a slight difference directly after. She has terrible itchy skin on her neck/chest area and scratched even directly after shampooing but she didn’t with this shampoo so I have high hopes that it will stop the scratching with more bathing.

My Lab has ears that appear to be more closed than my other dogs. Perhaps it’s a water dog adaptation? Whatever. She shook her head a bunch and DID have a sore in her ear presumably from rubbing a dirty ear which caused a small sore to get bigger.

Well, I bought this stuff and applied it every day for over a week, and I will use it more after that as necessary, and I would say it works. I would start with this product for any ear irritation and then perhaps go with an ointment.

And, yes, dogs shake vigorously the moment you let their head loose following the spray of a teaspoon size into the ear canals. (Do both ears. ).

Rosebud was biting at her nether parts due to itching. This applied liberally relieved her jitters. Purchased this product with not much confidence made a huge difference in my GSD allergies. Sprayed on the area he was chewing when he would begin chewing. It gave him instant relief, he now comes to get the area sprayed when he chews.

I am going to use the same product which is an ointment to see how well it does. I try my best not to let him breathe the mist but he does and carries on when it happens. The ointment is rubed not sprayed.

My poor dog has hot spots and he digs himself constantly. Ive taken him to the vet and they gave steroids which dont work. I also tried this and dont work. I tried switching his food, no dice. Im at a loss for what to do to help him.

GOOD THING INGESTING THE PRODUCT IS SAFE. HAPPILY IT SOOTHES MY OWN INSECT BITES LOL SO THE PRODUCT IS NOT A COMPLETE WASTE.

Not sure what the issue was but hair falling out in spots on my cat. Used this twice a day for several days and hair is now growing back. I have ordered an additional bottle to see if it will help other areas where he is scratching.

I bought the liquid pourable Sulfodene years ago for one of my dogs who frequently had bad skin and hot spots. It worked great at helping him heal and stop licking. He no longer has issues with that, but years later our other dog does now.

I couldn’t find Sulfodene in the stores, so I ordered it at Chewy. I love the sprayable application they have now! It worked on my younger dog well. It’s easier to apply, and his licking has stopped and irritated skin has healed.

This stuff is great! There’s even a pleasant apple scent to it that is better than the old scent.

We have two puppers that are extremely skin sensitive. They can’t have anything with chicken and during the winter, their skin gets so dry and itchy. We have tried so many different anti-itch sprays and most are heavily fragranced and did nothing.

This is the third bottle I’ve purchased and will continue to do so! The little spot above our Manchester terrier’s tail was losing hair and constantly itching him. His fur grew back in under a month!.

My poor dog got eaten by mosquitos and fleas while camping recently and hasn’t been able to leave her backside and back alone long enough for them to heal, so I picked this up to help with the itching.

My Great Pyrenees seems to be very prone to hot spots in the hot weather. My vet tells me that because of his long thick hair he tends to get more because of potential grass and/or pollen allergies. I use the Pet Armour when I see him start scratching in one particular place, and so far it has worked pretty well in keeping them at bay.

My dog doesn’t seem to mind it, there’s no smell to it, and am pretty happy with it so far. That doesn’t mean he still won’t get some but it does help control his itching in the hot months and keeps the hot spots to a minimum without getting infected or worse.

this time only 2 cans busted and leaked on 17 cans that had to be washed, scrubbed of the odor. don’t bother to replace the 2 cans. i was told the last order that i would get credit for 6 busted cans on my credit card.

I gave my senior pup a bath today and used this for the very first time. I love that it is tear free because he has very sensitive eyes, and this didn’t seem to bother him. I like that it lathers very nicely and leaves his fur super soft.

The scent is very mild so if you or your pup don’t like super strong fragrances, you might like this. I would liken the scent to a fruity melon fragrance.

Awesomeness smells great and leaves her coat so soft and fluffy. She doesn’t scratch as much in this dry desert heat.

My puppy has atopic skin allergies and we are treating it with Benadryl and the Benadryl seemed to help I purchased the BB itch spray after seeing reviews on how much it helped others skin integrity and honestly it made it way worse.

After the Benadryl dose he wasn’t itching at all. His fur is red, blotchy and dry and figured with Avocado oil it should hydrate it. Nopppeee he started to itch like crazy and I have like 3 hrs left for his next dose.

If ur thinking this will help moisturize their skin or soften it think again. The only relief mine got was the coldness of the spray… continuing on with my search to help his skin clear up and let him feel some relief… also if ur pup has skin allergies from ragweed, ryegrass or pollen Benadryl works amazing just be careful on the dose and either wash w/a moisturizing shampoo or use wipes all over (in paws too) every time he is exposed to those elements.

Too bad I couldn’t use it’s a 10 on him lol bc when I go blonde it makes my hair feel so soft when it should feel like straw….

We have three shampoos we use for our rescues, two which we purchase from the Vet when needed. Burt’s Bees oatmeal shampoo has been our go to over the counter shampoo for decades now. One of our rescues is like our old Lab was, pollen comes down thick enough to write your name on the car and the dog’s coat dries out.

With the dry coat, shedding is unbelievable, even in a short hair dog. Then the constant scratching begins. With this oatmeal shampoo, it takes care of both issues, scratching stops and the shedding goes back to normal.

It’s definitely a chore reducer! The great thing about receiving the shampoo from Chewy is not only the lower price, but the fact that they taped the top down so no spills in the box!.

I just bought this product to wash my two busy little pups who are constantly up to no good. They get into everything that they shouldn’t, are in the raw funk of the potty training stages in their crates, they love to roll around in dead things, and aren’t living their best life, unless they are covered up to their ears in mud and muck.

This Oatmeal shampoo sounded very gentle, and in my mind I thought that it would be great for their fur and smell like an oatmeal cookie, or like most of Burt’s Bees honey scented products which are all great- except, I was very disappointed.

This shampoo literally smells like nothing, and it doesn’t seem to deep clean their fur- especially if they are fluffy. Also, it doesn’t seem to wash or mask strong puppy odors after my two rebel pups get into funky things.

I was really bummed out, I opted to spend more on a better valued product due to their brand name that’s won me over with their human products, but instead got some that I’ve used this not a few times and will most likely discard.

It’s not at all doing the trick. I think that Burt’s Bees just needs to stay in their own lane, and do what their magical at, by making awesome snd affordable skincare products for humans. Because this shampoo isn’t good quality, and it’s certainly not what I’d call affordable skincare.

I was skeptical that this would really work after trying several others. I am very happy to say that it really works. My dog Nala has a serious scratching issue to the point of causing bald spots. I sprayed this on it and she relaxed, stopped the itching, and with the antiseptic aspect, it actually started to heal and regrow hair in that spot.

This is such a wonderful product. Gives relief to our furry loved ones, and happiness to me knowing she is happy. I highly recommend this product to anyone who has a similar issue, or that has dogs with skin issues.

I received the Tomlyn Allercaine Hit Spray for Dogs a few weeks ago. I have a elder Yorkie who is ALWAYS biting a herself, to the point of being bald in spots. I feel so bad for her. She will even go under chairs just to scratch herself.

So, when I received this spray, I went right to her and sprayed here she is having a problem. I was utterly surprised. It was working. It didn’t affect her in any way, meaning she wasn’t bothered that I had sprayed her.

It really helps her a lot. I have already ent out and got more for her.
