20 Best Hot Rollers For Travel (2023 Updated)

These work good. I’m very new to hot rollers, or rollers in general. I have very long hair, past mid back, so this set didn’t have enough for me. What hair I could get in, did curl. The plastic clips aren’t the greatest, but do work if you can get them on right, without pulling your hair off the rollers.

I would give 5 stars if the set come with more. I don’t know many people who only use 5 rollers. Unless you are using these with another set.

I was looking for rollers for travel that would be smaller and lighter and these fit the bill. I like them so much have bee using them daily. They work great for me. My only suggestion if buying is to use the pins over the clips that come with it as they do leave a mark on my hair.

I have the metal pins (?) that slide in and do a great job.

The product’s concept is a good one. It heats up quickly. The rollers are not as “JUMBO” as l need them to be, for a “Bob” hairstyle just below the chin. The clips that came with also leave a lot to be desired.

They do not hold the heavy roller in place. Thus, leaving indents in the curl. I want a smooth, straight appearance with the curve just under my chin. The pins they offer for a bit more will not hold roller in place either.

I do not see volumn of curls being effected either, as advertised.

Personally I love these- yes the Velcro makes it a bit tough to take them out, the first few inches I just unroll them and then I’m able to slide them out. This is the only reason for 4 stars. Taking them out may be easier for people with finer hair.

Also, I have highlighted hair and am used to flyways and breakage, so that doesn’t really bother me, but I’m sure it could if you’re looking for ultra-smoothness. I love big, bouncy hair and that’s what I get with these.

My hair is just above my shoulders, so I use the small ones at my crown, mediums in the middle and biggest on bottom. When they come down, it’s all volume and bounce. The Velcro does work on its own in some places, in some places I use a clip.

Overall, they’ve given me great hair that I love and I’ll continue using them!! P. s. I bought 2 packs.

I was drawn to these because of their velcro properties with ceramic. However, if you have damaged or brittle hair, do not use these. The velcro is very strong and you really have to pull at your hair to remove them.

Removing them is like pulling cactus burs out of your wool hiking socks. I think they work for a good-looking blowout but I probably won’t use them every day. How do I use them? I use a tubular ceramic brush and divide my hair into a halo section.

I use the curlers on the front of my hair and on the top of my head. I blow dry my hair straight up and then apply the curlers to sit and cool with some hair spray.

I bought these rollers as I was looking for something to give me that trendy 90s blowout. The rollers are great quality and the size variety is excellent! I recommend if you have thick or long hair that you purchase two packets as one wouldn’t be enough for your whole head.

I blow dried my hair with a round brush, placed the rollers in my hair and waited 45 minutes. I was left with extreme voluminous, bouncy hair. The only reason why I gave it 4 instead of 5 is that it is quite difficult to use at first and takes a while to get used to.

Overall a great product and excellent value.

I originally laughed when I saw one review say that these rulers don’t get as hot as she would like! Really!?! I thought. after using one time. These things are HOT and burn my fingers! But I will have to say that she is correct in the fact that they don’t really seem to be hot enough to keep the curl in hair.

I have been using hot rollers at least once a week for the last 25 years. I was really sad when my old set finally died and figured I would try this new technology. Was nice that this brand offers different sizes to choose from.

I already knew that I did not need 20 rollers. After years of experience I found that 6 rollers is perfect for me, so the 5 roller set wouldn’t work either. So I settled on the 12 rollers and because they are so hot I need to roll them up quicker and used smaller sections of hair which take 8 rollers.

I have long, normal (not thick not thin) hair. I have always received compliments on the days that I use hot rollers. Hoping this roller set would last as long as my last one did. Note: I waited to post this after giving it a fair chance and trying it on my hair for 5 weeks.

I am disappointed and would not purchase these again as the curls do not last throughout ONE day! And believe me I’ve tried every thing I could think of to help them last. My last set would keep the curl for at least 2 days.

After eyeing a new set of rollers and having huge success with hot rollers in the past, I finally pulled the trigger on these. Huge mistake. When I opened the box, I noticed right away that the clips were flimsy.

The teeth were overlapping on them and I was already anticipating having to buy claw clips to replace them. Then I realized there was no clip storage. I gave the curlers a go. I got no volume, no curl.

The biggest rollers resulted in STRAIGHT hair. Straighter hair than I started with. The small rollers gave me curl for less than five minutes. My hair generally holds curl quite well so this was astounding.

I’ll be returning.

There is another brand that sells the exact same sizes for much cheaper. I find that they do make my hair curl but within 4 hours my hair falls flat, and my hair holds a curl really well. The instructions say that the light turns white when it’s heated but it’s actually just the roller with the red dot that turns white when it’s up to temp.

The white edges do get pretty hot and I’ve burnt my finger tips every time I’ve used them. I just decided it’s not worth it for me because of how long it takes for me to fumble with then clip only for it to fall short.

For reference I have bleached fine straight Asian hair last my armpits.

If you’re looking for big curlers, this isn’t the product for you. The curlers are smaller and will produce very tight, vintage-looking curls. I have mid-back length hair and these curl my ends up to my collarbone.

I can’t figure out how they’re supposed to be pinned in, so I just put the pin onto the middle of the curler and it works just fine. They heat up in about 10 minutes and are pretty hot to the touch. They cool off quickly so by the time I finish my entire head I can wait about 5-10 minutes and all of the curlers are cooled.

I really love these more than I expected!!.

I had a Conair set for many years. They were metal rollers covered in plastic, so they stayed hot. You could interchange the rollers on any rod. These are all plastic, so they don’t retain heat, I’m disappointed in how cheaply made these are.

I would rather pay more and get a well made product. I will be returning them.

I should have given more credit to the bad reviews, but I thought they couldn’t be that bad. Well, they are. Just a plastic roller, nothing to help them retain heat. The set gets hot enough that by the time I got my hair in rollers my fingertips felt slightly burned.

The issue is that by the time I got the last one in place over half of what I had put in my hair had cooled to the point they were ineffective. The rollers cooled so quickly it didn’t set the curl in my hair.

When I removed the rollers there was a bit of curl, but within 5 minutes my hair was straight and frizzed on the ends from the high heat. Please, save your money. I thought this might be a good solution for the period of time from now till I can get back in to my hairdresser after the COVID shutdown, but it is a total waste of money!.

No stars deserved!!! The first time I picked up a roller I knew that I needed heat resistant gloves. For the next two weeks the rollers worked very well. The third week I tried to pick up a large roller and it had expanded and melted.

Most rollers had melted and/or had expanded. Some were expanded so they could not be removed and the others continued to expand and could not be replaced. Eight rollers could be removed and put back.

I love my Chi Smart Magnify complete roller set. I have long hair, which requires my using the 1. 5 inch rollers. While I love the set, I could have purchased at least 8 or more full roller sets because I continually have to buy the refill sets of rollers and clips, but only because I need the clips.

No matter how gently I use the clips, they are cheap plastic and the tines snap off easily and constantly. I wish Chi would make better clips, possibly unbreakable ones and sell them separately. I have only had to replace 2 rollers over the years, so now I have an abundance of rollers.

My only issue is with the cheap plastic easily breakable clips. Otherwise, I love the set. My one star reflects the clips only and that continually have to buy the roller/clip set to replace all of my unusable broken clips which won’t hold a roller since most of the tines are broken.

Should better clips be made, I would give 5 stars and recommend them, however, until that is done, I can’t do so.

I was getting married and had purchased the CHI roller set. With long. long hair to my waist, and it being thick. thick. thick, I needed extra rollers. The CHI rollers are Awesome! They work so good in my hair.

The added set gets placed on the got rods to heat up as I use the already heated rollers. They heat up in time for use. The biggest disappointment is the price for just only 3 rollers per set. I had to purchase 3 sets to get the needed amount, as to get all the hair on my head done.

They could have thrown in another roller and reduced the retail price to make it more fair. I’m very familiar with CHI products, out of all their products this is by far the one and only disappointment.

The large-sized roller gives a nice smooth wave/body to my fine-texture, blonde, medium length with long layers, hair. BUT, here are a few tips before you use the rollers : 1. They can get very HOT — it takes only 1-2 min.

to heat up. If the rollers stay on the posts too long they’ll get too hot and you’ll need to let them cool down for a min. or so 2. Instead of the plastic clips, I use metal clips/pins from an old set of hot rollers and they work great , stay in well, no “dents” in hair.

You can probably order these type of metal clip/pins on Amazon and get the correct size for your roller size. I highly recommend trying this set – if doesn’t work for you, simply return it. Hope that helps! “.

The hair curlers are very surprising. I haven’t owned any since the ones I had back in the 90s. When I inboxed these, I read the instructions and realized that the awesome Velcro pouch their in heats up! So you just leave them in the pouch and plug them in.

Within 90 seconds they were ready to use. I have very long and very thick hair. I can either use them all once for wavier curls, or I can heat them up and do two rounds, with parting my hair down the middle and using them two different times.

This way, I get much tighter curls. Either way, the look is effortless and lasts very long in my hair. My favorite feature is how fast they heat up. I also love how the pouch and curlers themself are way smaller than the old school curlers.

I would recommend these to everyone and I believe these cause no damage to my hair.

I wanted a new hot roller set for travel and this Remington Compact is perfect. Great curls with the Ionic and Ceramic rollers. The compact size makes it easy to store. The set of ten rollers is ideal and I can use them for large or medium curls.

The best thing I like is the rollers are color coded and so are the J clips. I have fine hair and sometimes other rollers fell out because the clips didn’t hold well. I found no problem with these rollers and clips.

I received the Compact ionic+ ceramic hot rollers to try out and give a review. I was very impressed! As their title says they are very compact, in a soft Velcro closing case. They heat up in 90 seconds.

They are very easy to use, no burnt fingers or scalp. I have fine hair to the shoulder. I am blind and well over 65. I should mention that my hair is thinning out. I had no problem rolling my hair, they only need 15 minutes on the head.

I admit mine were on a little longer since they are comfortable and light. I was very impressed when I took the rollers out. After a comb out my hair had volume and a nice wave on the ends. I haven’t used hot rollers in a very long time.

I got tired of the waiting for them to heat up and then they were very hot to touch. I like the speedy heat up and the ease of curling my hair. I recommend the Compact ionic +ceramic hot rollers.

I have fine limp hair and was excited to try Conair’s Travel Hairsetter with Jumbo Rollers to get more volume and also curl my hair. These rollers are great and I love that they heat up quickly in around 2 minutes.

I apply by first brushing my hair, then sectioning my hair into 5 sections with 2 on each side and one in back and securing with clips into place, then leaving them on for 10 minutes and then unrolling them.

They are jumbo sized in that they are 1. 5 inches big so I get big volume if that’s what I’m going for or I get big voluminous curls if it is that. If I’m going for volume I brush my hair out and if I’m going for curls I gently comb over a couple times.

I wish that this set had 6 rollers so I could fit two in front and back but it comes with 5 so need to manage to fit all hair into one curler which is only reason I take off a star because feel it should have 6 to equally divide and fit hair into sections accordingly.

They are great for traveling though and I recently traveled and they are so compact they easily fit in my suitcase and did not take up a lot of room. They really give a ton of volume which I love and have never had before and have always wanted! Im also happy with how easy it so get big voluminous curls as well which I like to have on some days.

Overall, I’m very pleased with the Babyliss 30 Piece Heated Ceramic Roller Set. There’s a good selection of sizes for different looks and length/thickness of hair. Despite the little teeth around the barrel, because of the ceramic coating, they do not pull or tug the hair when removing and slip out very smoothly, so do not drag the curl out when you unwind.

They are quite lightweight rollers so don’t feel heavy once in. I particularly like the butterfly clips for the larger rollers around the crown and front, but also find the pin clips to be very secure and do not get loose after multiple use.

Rollers heat up quickly but I’ve found they do not heat up well if used abroad. Also, with regards to travel, the unit is so heavy and cumbersome to travel with. Overall appearance of unit could be more stylish and sleek.

I just absolutely love them, first of all they look stylish and compact in their container. They plug in and the tou simply section your hair (I did it very roughly) and rolled up and used the roller clamps to hold in place.

About 10 minutes later when the rollers had cooled I took the rollers out 1 by one. Well I simply could not believe the beautiful and professional finish it gave. My hair had soft voluptuous curls everywhere with very little effort (I looked like Marylin Monroe!).

I then thought I would let my daughter who is 10 have a go on her even longer hair, under my watchful eye she managed to put the rollers in herself and again 10 minutes later she had the most stunning curls, for once she was eager to get to school to show her friends! I chopped my hair to above shoulder in order to start curling my hair. Freshly washed and dried, these should have really made my hair bounce. Sadly, the soft curl lasted about 15 mins before I realised it had dropped out.

I dont think the covering on the rollers works well at heating the hair. I bought these as my old hard spiky ones with pins had died, but they did great job with my hair. Why fix something that wasn’t broken??? Fancy box and clips, pretty rollers, fancy price too.

No good if it doesn’t work. Unfortunately as I have used them I cannot return. Shameful.

Purchased these because I love hot rollers and needed some new ones. I love the way these look but the functionality is terrible. The bottom rollers are difficult to slide up and good luck not burning your fingers in the process.

I lost one clip with a roller on the bottom rack and had to use the end of my comb to scoot the roller up (it was too hot otherwise). Once I was done with the rollers I noticed that putting them back proved to be difficult, they don’t slide down easily at all and I wanted to use the rollers for a fast morning routine but spent more time putting them back than I did putting them in my hair.

Like the title says, a good idea in theory but over complicated. Unfortunately, the good old fashion roller setup is more effective, easier and I cant tell a difference with this thermaluxe they are referring to.

Purchased a set of rollers in the normal hair setter container and it was much faster and effective (rollers were bigger in length than these too).

Don’t deal with this company. I had to remove a bag to view the product properly. The item was not suitable. I returned to Just my look. They returned to me,saying that I should not have opened it??????.

Breached health and hygiene rules,????On plastic rollers. HOW. WHY. Unless I opened them How could I judge. Not very happy. Will NEVER deal with them or recommend them. EVER. I can return underwear,swimwear,any clothing if not suitable but not plastic rollers.

If you are going to buy it to do other people’s hair keep in mind that you need to get at your customers house 30 minutes before to get it heated. Second thing is you have to place it in a secure bag becouse the plastic lid is really cheap and breaks easily.

You also have to buy 2 sets, one is not enough for a full head. With that said it can work easily with the hot rolers, just use a good hair spray before and after.

Love the set. Love the price. Hot rollers works best for me. Nice volume & the right amount of curl. Plus it saves time. No standing around w’ the curling iron or whatever. you roll & go about your work.

Fifteen minutes later. out come the rollers, you fluff & go! Easy- peasy. The soft velour the rollers have protect your hair.

I ordered these to help make my morning styling easier and i’m so glad i did! My hair is really long and thick so after blow drying the last thing I want to do is curl it with an iron. These heat up while I’m blow drying.

I dab a small amount of gel on each piece before rolling and use the metal holders – not the claw clips. Once they’re in place I spray with hair spray and keep in place while I do makeup. By the time my makeup is on and I’m dressed they’re ready to come out.

My hair is so soft, perfect amount of curl and the style lasts 2-3 days with dry shampoo. I love them. For a more modern look – use hair wax on each curl – gives a textured curl and you can re-shape to some degree.

The rollers heat rapidly and work well. This is my fourth set of these rollers. They are u favorite. They give y straight hair body and tame it a bit. Please keep making them.

These rollers are great for short to med length hair. been using these for years Have to replace unit bit because it stops but because the rollers get old and the plastic on top breaks off after3 to 4 years ! Very durable considering the price.

Work great ! I love this set Downer : is the clips to hold the rollers in your hair !! I never use them I buy bigger hair clips from dollar tree to hold them in place instead ! But otherwise great buy !! Love to be able to roll all my hair and curl it all at one time instead of hot ironing each individual section.

I find these rollers easier to use than a curling iron. The only thing I dislike is that the unit doesn’t have an automatic turn off after a certain amount of time.

Your hair stays in place when winding. Hair has more curl and volume. Heats up but doesnt burn your scalp. These are the best rollers that I have ever owned. Thank you

YouTubers show fabulous, bouncy curls. Thick, colored hair may work, but NOT on my babyfine non-colored, below shoulder hair. Read the instruction book. Used 4 times. Varied my methods. Used different hair products.

Blow-dried the curlers once. Let them cool completely. Today kept them in 45 minutes (who has this much time?). My non-frizzy hair is frizzy and wavy-ish! Ugh! Curlers trap steam water too. A regular curling rod does 100% better.

I have owned a couple of these before. They have changed the way I am able to do my hair. I went from terrible hair to wow-curls! Steam set curls are definitely the best kind. They do indeed last and last.

As long as you clean the machine with a tablespoon of vinegar (it tells you how in the user instructions) every twenty uses, your steam machine will last along time. Also, having used this product daily, I can truly say, my hair has received no damage from the steam rollers.

In fact, after curling my hair, it looks more shiny and healthy with the curls in.
