20 Best Hot Plates For Cooking (2023 Updated)

Can’t even cook an egg. Took 20 minutes to fry one egg and the yolk was even runny. The plate cools when it reaches a certain temperature. I used it outdoor and it did not even kill a fly that touched the rim of the frying pan while frying fish that took more than 30 minutes to cook and fish was not even crispy.

It was soggy. Very poor quality.

I’m in airbnb for 2 weeks and this proved very useful. Doesn’t take much space, heats up fast and I can use it for mild cooking. Isn’t too powerful yet does my breakfast perfectly, I can make tea (I dontblike the coffee makers) or cook a soup without problems.

Works well but like one of the previous reviews I find the numbers rub off easily. It is lightweight making it very transportable for trips. The burner is the same size as a standard stovetop burner which means it fits all my pots and pans.

Besides for cooking outdoors I find this useful when I have table top cuisine like shabu shabu because its compact size fits in the middle of my dining table nicely. Also good as an extra burner for when friends come over to help prepare a feast for the holidays.

This is a very portable hotplate that lets me move my cooking space out of my kitchen. I love having the options it opens up when prepping dinner. Especially with cooking at home for the past year due to covid, this hotplate helped my family and I to recreate some of the restaurant cuisine we were craving like hotpot and KBBQ.

It gave us the ability to keep our soup base nice and hot as we dropped veggies and fish balls into the soup to be cooked. When I used it to grill meat, it seemed to heat pretty evenly letting me cook thin slices of meat quickly.

That really helped recreate the feeling of freshly grilled KBBQ on the table. It takes a bit longer to heat up some of my cookware but I think that is expected and works very well with some patience.

An extra plus in my book is its ease of cleaning. Unlike some traditional hotplates with the exposed coil this one is much easier to clean and take care of.

This hot plate worked just like an electric stove hot plate would. A 10 inch pan worked just right on it. I used it on my countertops and it did not make them hot, but to be cautious I would put it on top of something.

Read the directions because it does point out that you should wipe off the top before using and during the first use or first 10-15 minutes you can expect a little smoke and smell. I experienced this, but it was not bad.

Also note, the cord on the device is not that long. Depending on where you want to use it, say the middle of an island or camping, you may want to use an extension cord with it. It worked great for creating an extra place to cook and my food came out just the same!.

We camp most weekends during the year. We got this burner to use at our campsite, mostly for outdoor use, not necessarily in our camper. This has been a great addition to our other outdoor cooking units (grill, smoker, griddle, crock pot, Fire).

Not only is this great for having an extra burner outside, but it also does a great job at keeping food warm on the serving table. It does seem to have an offensive smell at first but after the intial use, it’s gone.

Probably just something sprayed on at the factory?.

I’ve given this product a 3 because it does work, but the design could be improved. There are two indicator lights on the machine which light up when you turn on a burner and stay lit while the burner is heating, however the lights turn off once the burner has reached it’s temperature.

The lights will relight occasionally when the burner needs to warm itself back up again. There are no lights that just stay on when the machine is on. For this reason, it can be difficult to know at a glace that the machine is still on, even when the burners are hot.

The actual power knob for the machine is in the back of the machine, so yoi can’t just look at it and see. It would be a helpful safety feature if there was just a light that came on when the machine’s power was on.

Used only once so far, both burners at the same time. Convenient for my outdoor kitchen, Cooked a nice meal. I would be able to say excellent only if I had used it over a longer period.

This Electric Double Burner appears to be sturdy and will hopefully prove to be efficient and a helpful supplement to my small stove in my new home which is a trailer. At 75 years old I have finally become mortgage free and have a great place to live out my golden years.

Having this Electric Double Burner will give me options for my cooking needs.

I bought this unit to replace my Broil King single coil burner when it went out after 20 years of almost daily use. WHAT I LIKE: * The heavy cast iron burners – Before I owned my Broil King, I had a unit with stainless steel burners, of which badly warped after only a few years.

I’m hoping the heavier cast iron will hold up better. * The unit has a matte finish which doesn’t show splatters like a shiny finish does. * The knobs don’t get as dangerously hot as my Broil King. WHAT I DON’T LIKE: * The cord is only 27.

5″ long (excluding prongs) & doesn’t reach my outlet easily. * Indicator light constantly goes off & on during cooking (On 2 different pages of the user manual, it states “The power indicator light. will glow indicating that the heating element is turned on” AND “The indicator lights illuminate when the unit is turned on”).

Nowhere do they tell you that the lights go off during cooking – this is dangerous if you are not paying attention to the temperature dial. * Unused side of burner gets fairly warm, though not enough to burn your hand.

This is only a minor issue. HOW WELL IT COOKS: * Temps range from 1 to 6 but can be set anywhere in between. * Number 1 only gets warm enough to keep cooked food warm. * Number 2 took about 15 mins to heat a bowl of noodle soup.

* Number 4 took about 20 mins to bring 6. 5 cups of water to a low boil, just hot enough to cook pasta. * Number 6 (max) it took about 16 min to bring 6. 5 cups of water to a full boil.

Both my sons are Eagle Scouts and camp quite often with there troop, friends and father. They are always looking for more camping and cooking supplies. I got them this hot plate and they were beyond excited.

It’s light enough to pack and take with you but sturdy enough to handle boy scouts. It’s easy to use and the directions on how to use were simple. The temperature heated up like promised and the portability is perfect.

This is now a camping must.

This Buffet Burner looks really nice on my counter, but what I needed it to do, it doesn’t! The smaller burner takes for ever to heat, and the burner surfaces, both of them, discolored very badly after the first use.

I used new, induction pots, the proper size for the surface, and they now have very light gray circles that can’t be removed. The entire base gets hotter than normal after I am using it for more than about 15 minutes.

Love this product. Boils water in mins. Cooks evenly and doesn’t displace heat. Best hotplate I’ve ever owned and I’m 33.

Beautiful piece. I use hot plates in my cabin rentals and am tired of them looking old and used and out of place. This one fits perfectly on the counter and looks like a small stove. I am happy to have bought it.

We have used the unit twice since receiving it. We took it to the annual Christmas Dinner of my Chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association and used it to keep the turkey and stuffing we provided warm.

Secondly we used it to cook breakfast, when our propane tank ran out. It performed as expected for both occasions. It is easy to operate and easy to clean.

Slim and trim, I use it in my full time camper instead of expensive LP gas. I love to cook and have prepared some very nice meals with it. One draw back; the knobs are very hard to turn and you cannot see the settings on them unless you look streight down from the top.

I recommend the knobs should be larger and more clearly marked. I would buy this again.

Affordable, compact, and heats quickly. I bought this and a large toaster oven instead of a standard range and cook on them multiple times a day. I have no complaints.

Pros: (1)Nice looking. (2)Easy to operate(It’s a hot plate, how hard can it be right?). Cons: (1)The blade connectors were very loose(wobbly). One just barely hanging on! This caused a bad connection which resulted in the wires overheating and melting the insulation on one of the female blade connectors.

Had I not shut it off, it could have caused a fire if left unattended for a while. I guess whoever makes these has no Quality Control at the factory. (2) Pots & pans slide around on the cooking surface too easy.

Make sure you have a good hold before stirring! (3) Takes a long time to heat up and cool down. Advise: If you buy this,have someone knowledgeable of electrical wiring take the back plate off and check the connectors before using.

Boil, fry, do it all. I use a double wide cast-iron griddle that covers both burners. Since both burners are the same size and wattage, making pancakes is easy.Fast high heat output.

It works just fine just gotta use thin pots because I had a medium thick pot and it took the water a long time to boil so I used one of my thinner pots to boil water and it worked just fine.

It was meh. It worked fine the first couple of months and then it took e longer and longer for it to get hot. Until it finally stopped working after 5mo since purchase. The body itself gets hot so be careful.

If you are using this as a temporary disposable appliance, it should suffice. Otherwise invest in something better.

We are currently living in a small rundown motel due to being homeless and I have been using all of my small appliances throughout this winter so was somewhat limited to what I could make for our meals daily for both of us.

I decided to order this hotplate to be able to expand some of our meal choices. It works very well but the base does get extremely hot. So YOU MUST keep it back and out of reach of young children. It does cool down in a reasonable amount of time.

This has worked very well for me. It seems to heat up more slowly than the old exposed element unit I was using, but the closed design is much easier to clean, provides a nice flat cooking surface and just feels safer.

It works fine and I’ve had no problems with it. The power light does go on and off – I assume as the thermostat cycles the heating. This is a little annoying as you can’t tell whether you’ve turned the unit off except by checking the control knob position.

I’d prefer that it stayed on or they provided a second light for power.

This hot plate never worked. The entire body would heat up but the plate itself never got hot enough to boil water. It was thrown out after several weeks of attempted use. Do not waste your money or time with this product!.

Plus The Burner Stops Heating Once It Reaches The Certain Temp Max For Medium Or High, Once The Temp Lowers It Reheats Thus In Consistance Heating And Longer Cooking. I Think This Would Be Best For Traveling Or Safe Enough To Teach Others How To Cook Since It Is Small And Doesnt Get Too Hot.

I Wouldnt Recommand This Product For Thise Hoping To Cook Food Needing Higher Heat/boiling. Always Look Put For Burners That Say Temp Numbers Not High Low Settings!.

I am having a new stove put in my kitchen, as well as new countertops. My old stove had already been removed and discarded when we found out that my new stove would not be in for 2 weeks. I was so upset, as I LOVE to cook.

When I found this little burner on line, it was the perfect “mini stove” until my new range could be installed. I bought 2 of them for cooking. They heat up quickly, are super easy to clean and work great! I do wish the cord was longer though.

You have to plug it in right near an outlet with the short cord. All in all, it was a great purchase!.

This burner is awesome! I needed something to set on my buffet table to keep one of my pots hot and this fit the bill. I also can fry foods to perfection while plugged up outside on my back patio. The hot plate is a good quality item and it works fine.

I received a flat-top griddle that covers my entire stove as a Christmas gift from my husband. Our research indicated that a necessary accessory with one is to have a stand alone electric burner so that you still have burners available while cooking on the griddle.

I looked at several dozen in a wide range of prices. I decided to go with this one based on the price point and the aesthetic, knowing that there really aren’t a lot of bells and whistles needed for my purpose.

Here are my notes from the first use: It’s attractive. The top is sleek and the ceramic eyes are smooth and clean easily. There aren’t a lot of nooks and crannies that would be difficult to clean. It is definitely one of the more attractive options I’ve looked at.

It’s lightweight. At just over 6 pounds, I can easily maneuver it around and put it up and get it down from the top of the refrigerator which is it’s home when not in use (much easier than moving the 30 pound griddle on and off the stove) It’s sturdy.

The feet are level and the manufacturing quality is solid. There is no wobble when it is placed on my counter. It heats quickly. Within a short time, the eye heat up to 600 degrees. It’s safe. Although it heats quickly and to a high temperature on the cooking surface, the rest of the unit keeps at a safe range so you won’t burn yourself when touching it.

The feet keep the unit safely off my counter – and as can be seen from my photo, the space between the unit and countertop only got to about 100 degrees. I won’t have to worry about scorch or heat marks on any counter I use it on.

The area around the front, sides, and back were hot, but not near hot enough to burn someone who may accidentally touch it. The controls stayed at a comfortable temperature and did not heat up. The entire unit cools within a reasonable time.

Besides using along with my griddle, this will be handy to have for picnics, parties, and gatherings where a stove isn’t readily available, where I want to serve in another spot or room, or when more eyes are required.

Overall, I’m really happy with this and look forward to using it often.

The burners take quite a while to heat up. They do not burn the food because the burner shuts off. It is easy to clean and the bottom does not heat up so as to burn your counter top surface. The price is reasonable.

I can move it under a counter or cabinet to use the entire counter top. If the bottom of my my pot is stained at all it does not heat up to a higher temp. Scour the bottom of your pots or skillets and it works fine.

This hot plate really works well with cast iron cook wear. I would buy this again.

Large burner stopped functioning after three weeks and only used it to heat/ boil water, boil rice and boil oatmeal. Small burner takes an exorbitant amount of time to get even a cup a water to boil.

Went it arrived there was a small rattle of something loose inside of the unit, but I tried it and it worked minus the poor heating time for the small burner. Not deal breakers but it the pilot lights are hard to see as on or off depending on the lighting in the room and the off position should have a click or snap so you know its in place.

Too bad as it looks nice.

It was easy to use and it was consistent for my family’s thirsty world. Every time I need to fill a pitcher or a water thermos it was a water world event. My wife and I are getting along in years and this device makes it a non chore experience.

I don’t have to hoist the 5 gallon water jug on the counter since I set it on an upside down oversize heavy duty ceramic planter with the water jug dispenser resting on top.

the ceramic burners heat up pretty quick and provide for even cooking. good for frying eggs or making rice. never had a “hot plate” before, but when our cooktop when out, this unit is filling the gap quite nicely.

I now own five of these burners for my custom dye studio. They’re really work horses. I have had my Studio wired with separate circuits as the wattag they draw is too high for more than one per circuit.

It’s good but not for commercial use. This is the 3rd hot plate purchased in one year. Best off spending couple more $$$ for commercial use hot plate for longer lasting.

A great hot plate for the cost. We’ve used for over a year with no mechanical issues. Easy to clean. Only negative (for us) is that the lowest setting isn’t low enough to simmer without scorching food.

I do have a unique experience using this Countertop Double burner. I am staying with some friends during a transition from a divorce. I thought This double burner may come in handy as I had limited access to the kitchen in the house.

After I had it and used it just a couple of times. The owner of the house came down with Covid and although we all had our vaccines, I wanted to quarantine myself. The double burner allowed me to cook, and heat water etc, without using a microwave for a few days.

After I move into my own home, I think will be great for parties, or gatherings to keep food warm on a counter, or even on a covered patio. I have purchased almost every Cuisinart small appliance there is.

We needed service on our range. This meant no oven or cooktop until it was fixed. Supply chain issues meant that the part would not arrive for more than a month. Cuisinart has been a reliable brand for us in the past, so we favored Cuisinart when shopping on Amazon.

So, we ordered the single burner to hold us over. Worked great. Heated quickly, felt solid under the pans, and had good temp control. Very satisfied. And since it runs on standard 120 current, it will be a great backup burner to run off our generator or solar in a weather emergency.

It works a little differently from a normal electric stove burner. You don’t need to turn the dial to the high setting to get it to heat up and then turn it down to the heat you want. You just set it to the level you want and it heats to that point.

I usually use “1” when I cook most things. The base is very steady and solid. I’m very happy with this purchase.

I cook on it daily. I heat water regularly. It doesn’t heat super fast to start but it is not slow. Once it reaches temp it stays hot even when turned off. Cooks well on a low setting, on 3 or 4 of the possible 12.

I did research too long (two days, several hours each) and found so many sorry reviews for those I considered buying till I found this hot plate with the least objections. I like that I can use any type of cookware on it and that the cast iron plate is durable, not fragile like the induction hot plates and that it holds heat long after turning it off.

I like that it isn’t made in China. It looks as good as it is good. Very stable on my counter. No problems. Would be nice to find one of these with a second plate of a smaller seize. One large, one small.

This hot plate arrived well packaged and ready for use. It is perfect for my tiny home. While it does take up more counter space than other hot plates, the temperature control works wonderfully and it brings water to a full boil rapidly and cooks food perfectly.

I am very pleased with my purchase and would highly suggest this brand to others. While more expensive than other brands, the plate stays hot and doesn’t keep shutting off due to the thermostat control that many more inexpensive store brands have.

When I was suddenly without a gas range a couple of months ago, I was down to a single burner induction cook top (which I love), but I had glass cookware I couldn’t use on it. Rather than replace my glass cookware right before Thanksgiving, I decided to just get a single burner electric cook top.

I’ve never cooked on electric, except induction, so plunged into researching them. I shop for quality and longevity and this Cadco KR-S2 seemed to fit the bill. When I unpacked it, I was impressed with how solid and well-made it felt and it works beautifully! I love the smooth ceramic top as opposed to coils.
