20 Best Hoover For Laminate Flooring (2023 Updated)

I’m giving it only 4 stars because I have yet to test this vacuum for the very first time, my old one from Hoover which I bought back in 1993 just gave up! I thrust Hoover for their good reputation. I was attracted to its HushTone technology since I often find myself cleaning on very late hours of the day on my weekends.

My only concern based on reviews is the wheels coming off and users having a hard time to keep them on in place, but after doing some comparisons I will take my chances and I hope I won’t have to have the same issue with the wheels!.

Bought this to replace our 10 year old Kenmore. We looked at a number of higher end models as replacements primarily Miele, Ricarr and Simplicity brands. This was after looking at our go-to of Costco where every vacuum was a swivel head and had a vast majority of parts and components made from plastic and super narrow cleaning heads and eclectic trendy color combinations, loaded with useless gizmos.

We have friend in the U. K. who lives by the Dyson factory who warned us to never buy a Dyson despite how nifty they look. We have almost 3500 sq feet of carpet which I vacuum every other day, narrow plastic vacuum heads just won’t cut it.

Trendy tools not needed, but good air filtration, HEPA filters and a metal bar at the front of the vacuum to prevent damage from sucking in harmful stuff was key. We don’t have pets so pet hair management is not a must.

For some reason I’m not a fan of the swivel head styles because it puts the pressure of the vacuum head on your wrist when you maneuver the vacuum and with our amount of carpet that’s a problem. This vacuum was just perfect.

Priced right, super long cord, wide brush (15 inches) and the upgraded never break band, and very quiet. It does have a removable wand for tight spaces or furniture and some basic tools- not sexy but functional.

It’s bagged which helps with suction and air particulate management. It’s literally ready to go out of the box with no tools. This vacuum provides comparable cleaning and quality parts to the Ricarr and Simplicity at about half the price.

Have had it for about 4 months and am very happy. Would highly recommend.

After unboxing, assembly was easy and quick. I like the machine overall, but have a few things that should have been better, come on Hoover ! I can’t believe a company who has been in the buisness of making vacuum cleaners for so long, can over look some things so serious! The model really only has 2 carpet height settings in reality, ie: high carpet, and low commercial carpet settings.

In between these two settings is space that doesn’t have any clicks for in between selections, just to be able to dial the carpet height setting in more accurately if needed to be. Design Note; If the vacuum was made so that the area between the 2 selections was to be used as a non clicking variable are of carpet height adjustment, they failed! For as you vacuum if left in between the 2 settings, it will settle back down to the low commercial carpet setting.

So your either on high carpet, or low commercial carpet height settings. Bummer! The other, is the weight. This machine is on the heavy side it seems to me for a commercial vacuum that one is going to operate everyday, for long periods of time.

Let’s put it this way, there’s alot more other vacuums out there that are lighter, that say Commercial on them. The attachments they include, one small spear like, and a very short brush. Didn’t try the spear one, I’m sure it will do fine for window gutters, small places to get to etc.

However, the brush attachment, well not so well. Bristles are very short and stiff, it did not perform well at all in trying to dust my stereo glass racks, or amps. I will be looking for a replacement brush attachment that has longer brushes.

On fabric covered couches, or other things of the same, I’m sure it will work fine. What caught my attention after a while though was a small USA sticker on the machine. Then I read it, and it said assembled in usa.

Would I buy this model again ? No. Would I buy a different model that had Hoover’s name on it ? Yes. Come on Hoover ! USA, you can do it !!! D. M.

I started out with a Hoover vacuum over 40 years ago but got distracted by bright, shiny machines by other manufacturers. All of them had some problem – too heavy, difficult to use, didn’t perform well, or whatever.

Now I’ve come home to Hoover. I mean “home to Hoover” almost literally. You see one of my great-grandfathers who died decades before I was born worked for Hoover over 100 years ago. He gave my grandparents a Hoover when they got married.

I love, love, love the Hoover vacuum which I bought a little more than a year ago. It is light, performs well on all surfaces, and is intuitive in operation. The bag disposal is a breeze – you just release it directly into a trash receptacle and that’s all there is to it.

I will not again make the error of using any other brand vacuum. I only hope that if I meet my great-grandpa in heaven that he will forgive me for ever having strayed!.

I have used the vacuum 3 times so far so my opinion of this product is definitely limited. Longevity and long term cleaning effectiveness will take a while to evaluate. My experience with other vacuums including Hoover was cleaning effectiveness reduces, and in some cases drastically, as short as in after 30 uses with new bags and all.

These are the pluses: The vacuum’s suction is not the strongest in the roller stop mode but picks up dust / lint decently. The vacuum cleans better when the brush rolling. The brush tips strong enough to lift the sticky dust up but soft enough not to scratch the hardwood floor.

My floors are mostly hard wood and ceramic so I use the roller “off” mode more. On the pile rugs, it is a little heavy to push on the lowest and next to the lowest setting. The mid setting is more appropriate but it might not sucks well.

I can’t really tell but the surface leave tracks so I assume it cleans well enough. The minuses: I read others’ review about cord gets under the vacuum because it is too low and it does. I am surprised it is a bit heavy considering it virtually is all plastic from the appearance.

The weigh, however, does not bother me much. It does not look sturdy so be gentle when using it. It does not roll as smooth as the platinum model. I don’t use the extension tools so I don’t have any experience like some other reviewers that the hose is stiff and tips the vacuum over at times when pulled but for me, they just get in the way of wrapping the cord.

I wish they just make a plain vacuum like the platinum and lower the price.

Pros It is pretty, the cord is long, it really picks up the dirt, the attachments are great and work well, good for corners, edges, stairs, lightweight, all the buttons are in the right place, all the attachments have a place on the vacuum Cons It has a bag, the bag is small, not good for pets and kids, the cord not good for big houses and lots of obstacles I was really excited when I received this vacuum a week ago.

I really needed to clean my house. This vacuum is really pretty looking and I love the color of it. It is a good size for an upright vacuum and it is fairly lightweight. I can maneuver this around some obstacles but the cord can get in the way.

At first glance the cord is long, but I have a really big house. I know that battery operated ones can die halfway through; however, changing the cord from room to room and navigating through all the obstacles can be a pain.

The one really great thing about this vacuum is that it has great attachments and the sucking power. I was able to get that stubborn dirt that likes to find the way to the corners and edges of the carpet with the angled attachment.

The other attachments are great for couches and stairs. A big downside to this vacuum is that it is a bag and not a canister. I have filled up quite a bit of the bag already after just vacuuming the corners and the stairs.

I would probably fill up a bag every time I vacuumed due to all the pet hair. I would not recommend this vacuum for pet owners. I would think that this vacuum would be really great in a small apartment to help with all of the cleaning needs.

Overall I would recommend this vacuum to some of my friends but not the ones that have a lot of kids and pets.

The Hoover Portapower use to be the best vacuum ever made. It is no longer a commercial vacuum. The quality of this vacuum is maybe 1/10 of what it use to be. I have purchased over 200 of these and can take them apart blindfolded.

There is very little suction. It’s become so bad, I have returned 4 or the last 8 purchased. The door, cords, etc. are designed to give out so you have to replace. We really depend on this vacuum. It makes me sick how Hoover has destroyed it in hopes for more profit.

The truth is, I would be willing to pay double for a quality, worry free vacuum, with a commercial motor and accessories that lasts 2-3 years. We are actively searching for a replacement vacuum. Hoover no longer cares about the customer.

A great supplemental vacuum for cleaning stairways, closets, blinds, and light dusting with good suction. And I love the long power cord. But the springy vacuum hose is a nuisance! It seems like me and the hose are in a constant fight; it pulls pack while I want to go forward!.

I just yanked out 34 yr old carpeting and laid loose lay vinyl planks (LOVE!) and wanted to dispose of that monstrous vacuum that I currently own. However, I had some non-negotiable conditions for purchasing a new one: #1 SUCTION! Yeah.

Not negotiable. I am so sick of paying $300-$500 for something that acts like it has emphysema – weak weak suction. #2 – no push together pipes. constantly pushing them back together. a secure mechanism for the pipes AND the hose where it connects to the unit.

yup. gotta have it. #3 – no plasticky crushable water bottle hose!! the kind that bend and crumple if you just look at them sideways. #4. something that doesn’t require an addition to the house just to store it!! So I realize that these are fairly rigorous demands but let me tell you – THIS unit filled every one of them.

Every. One. I have a wood burning stove that is our source of heat all winter and I love it BUT, it does cause a serious amount of crap all over the floor daily and hauling that previously mentioned monstrosity out was just such a pain in my tail.

My sister owns rental cabins and I sent her pics and video immediately. She is online this very minute ordering one for each. No more hauling her monstrosity up and down the stairs, watching it fall down the stairs with one wrong move.

You will not be sorry!.

I’ve had this vacuum nearly 5 years now and it is the best thing ever. Very easy to clean and never gets clogged. (Unless you vacuum up a marker and that blocks the hose, but then pull it out and all is well in the world).

I have 4 dogs in my house including a german shepherd and his hair is everywhere and this vacuum gets it all up from rugs, carpet, hardwood floors and the tools help get it out of hard to reach spaces.

The pet tool is really good but does need some lubrication occasionally to keep it from screaming like a wild banshee. The suction of the vacuum is almost too powerful for the pet tool so it sucks the fabric up and doesn’t allow the brush to spin sometimes.

I’ve come up with my own ways on how to deal with this and is not a deal breaker. The only issue I am coming to now is that the Hepa filter for this vacuum is no where for purchase from what I can see.

I’ve never changed mine and the vacuum still runs perfect but I stumbled on the hepa filter the other day when cleaning it and it looks a little melted and the black part of the filter is super yuck.

I wasn’t sure if this could be washed like the other filter or if this is supposed to be replaced from time to time.

So I purchased this vacuum after I had seen so many advertisements for it on Youtube. I purchased it almost two years ago. About 6 months into have it this little piece broke that held the handle firm into the base.

It made it so it will pull out when I was pushing it back and fourth. It would stay in place for a bit or if I kept the cord wrapped around the holder but then if finally broke all the way and I decided to get on the website to see if there was a replacement handle or part.

I read the other reviews that said that they also had the same issue and Hoover had replied saying to email them with the product info. So in Oct of 2021 I did just that. They were very quick to reply and let me know that I would be receiving a free replacement.

I received it about 3 weeks later and have had no issues. I was very happy with Hoovers willingness to replace the unit even though it had been well after a year from 1st purchase. I will say it’s pretty heavy and thought I do like that the head swivels so you can get around corners – the weight of the middle portion does make it a bit hard to correct a turn if that makes sense.

I usually have to grab it by the handle with my other hand to make it go straight again. It’s very powerful though :).

We purchased this vacuum for cleaning the whole home. It is great and super powerful for cleaning the carpets and rugs. It does also vacuum the hardwood floors very well. There are a lot of features in the vacuum that is well-thought-of such as where the extra tools go or how to clean different parts.

We don’t have a pet by the way. However, I did not like the cleaning of the brush rolls that are on the bottom. There is usually hair that gets stuck on the bottom and it is not easy to clean like the other parts.

You have to unscrew screws to access and clean. Note that also that this vacuum is quite heavy and it is not very easy to move around. Although swivel steering is very useful, there are still places that are hard to move the vacuum and there are places that it will not be able to reach easily such as under the sofa or bed because its dirt cup is very big and cannot pass under the stuff.

So overall it is great for what it does but not very cleaning friendly and portable and one cannot reach some places in a home. So it is great to have this with another smaller complementary vacuum such as the handheld cordless ones.

The word “commercial” in the description of this product had me imagining a considerable heft for the product. I was pleasantly surprised. My current vacuum that is an all purpose bag-less for home use product weighs more than this.

The assembly is extremely easy (you just unscrew one screw and attach the handle and screw it back in) and snap the catch-container in place. There are not that many attachments that come with the vacuum so if you are fond of pet hair rollers for furniture and the narrow angled pieces for corners this does not have it.

The only other drawback was that the height profile of the vacuum is not ideal for getting under items e. g. china cabinets, bookshelves etc. I found it extremely easy to maneuver , it barely required any strength to push it around; it was incredibly lightweight.

The suction was tremendous and a bit of an eye opener. I thought my other vac was picking up quite a bit and doing a good job. When I did my initial sweep of my living room and dining room the amount of accumulated dust/dirt was a bit concerning.

The handle is at a height that is perfect for me and there is one button push to power on that is on it (so no bending down to get it on). The lever to tilt the vac is foot operated as well; making for an easy-on-the-back vacuuming experience.

Overall I would recommend this product it has worked well for me so far.

I wanted this to replace my commercial bagged vacuum. This seems. less than what I have, but still a great vacuum. I think the word “commercial” is here just for marketing purposes rather than as an actual class of machine.

Although, it does have a heavy duty orange chord, like on a power drill, so that’s sort of commercial. Maybe they should have used the adjective “tactical” instead of “commercial”. Men like tactical things.

Pros: Assembly was a snap. Made in the U. S. A. The price is right when compared to the similar Dyson model. No gimicky schlock. just a straight up vacuum, the way men like to vacuum. Cons: The step-button is a little too far recessed for optimal access particularly if you have big man feet.

Louder than my previous vacuum, but to me, that just says power. Maybe this is a pro. Dust canister doesn’t want to latch. It will, but you need to man-handle it every time. There seems to be a 25% “not quite latched” rate.

Bottom line, the biggest gripe I have with the thing is that it claims to be a commercial unit when it seems to be built for the home. Other than that, this is a great machine that compares well to its predecessor and I plan on using it every Friday, which probably means every other Friday and right before the girlfriend visits.

This vacuum is great on carpets, but the moment you put it on bare floors, its inadequacies are manifest. because it kicks out so much behind it. It is particularly disappiinting as this vacuum is commercial.

If you have the choice between sweeping or using this for hard surface, choose the broom. It will do a better job, and be 100x faster.

It is not often that you come a cross a product that actually does and works exactly how it says it should. I honestly didn’t have any faith when I got this product that it would actually work. I opened the bottle and it had a very pleasant clean scent which I really enjoyed, so I put it into my PowerDash machine and began cleaning my kitchen floor.

I had noticed my floors have seemed to become dull so I was hoping that a renewal cleaner would help. Not only did it help it almost made my floors look brand-new; they have a shine to them that I do not remember them having.

I was worried that after I cleaned my floors and it having a shine that the product was going to leave a sticky residue on them; however, that was not the case whatsoever. The floors look so nice, are not sticky and my house smells clean.

I actually feel like my floors are clean, I am so excited for this product and I have and will continue to recommend this to anyone who has hard wood floors that are dull and dirty as you will not be disappointed by this product at all.

The Hoover Renewal Multi Surface Cleaning Formula (a concentrate) Citrus Blossom 32 oz. was evaluated while using the new, soon-to-be marketed Hoover PowerDash Hard Floor Cleaner. The aroma of the concentrate is strong, but when diluted with 1 quart of warm water, the Citrus Blossom aroma has a mild to moderate, slightly sweet smell that should not be objectionable for most users.

The required concentrate (3/4 fl. oz. or 22 ml) for the clean solution dispensing with the Hard Floor Cleaner effectively dissolved soil (that was not previously visible) on both the textured ceramic tile and hardwood floors that I have in my home.

Any remaining cleaning solution left on the hard floor surfaces after using the Hard Floor Cleaner evaporated fairly rapidly and left no sticky residue. You should expect to get about 42 quarts of cleaning solution from the 32 fl.

oz. bottle of the Hoover Renewal Multi Surface Cleaning Formula, which I do recommend.

I received this item for review purposes and immediately used it to clean my hardwood floors throughout my house. The Cleaning Formula has only a very light and pleasant smell that isn’t very noticeable except when you’re adding it to the tank.

While cleaning, I could only faintly detect it. After cleaning there was no heavy odor. I like when I CAN’T smell a product because I dislike heavy perfumes/fragrances. Also the cleaning was amazing – before now we’d used spray and microfiber mop, but always had residue and a somewhat smudgy floor.

After using this solution, our floors are smooth and there’s no evidence of filminess or smudges. Really like the results!.

I liked the idea that they are making a smaller vacuum that is lighter and has a flexible motorhead. The omni-glide motorhead with double rollers is surely flexible, however it stops spinning as soon as it touches a rug.

There are of course different surfaces in a room, such as rug, tiles, hardwood etc. I can’t be switching motorhead whenever I want to vaccuum a rug. It’s not efficient. Once the motorhead stops spinning, no dirt gets picked up, and I have to turn off and on the machine, then as soon as it touches the rug, it stops spinning again.

Let’s talk about the design of the handle. Even though overall the machine is a pound lighter than the other ones, the majority of the weight is on the handle where the battery and chip is. The handle is a stick with smooth plastic surface, which means you have to be gripping hard all the time in order to push and pull.

It definitely does not feel like I’m gliding effortlessly. Dyson needs to keep in mind that a lot of customers are women who does not have as much hand strength as men, they should make things easier to grip like the traditional Dyson machines.

I get that the handle looks this way because you can push the vacuum under a bed and get into all the corners, but you can do better than a SMOOTH round handle. Even SCREWDRIVERS have grooves to provide easy grip.

Hope this inspires you to rethink your smooth stick handle. The smaller motorhead provided for carpet cleaning is great for stairs. No bigger head is provided for carpet rooms which needs a bigger head for coverage.

Overall, very disappointed with this product. Too many flaws.

I’m going to lay down a truth before I start- I went into this experience with pretty low expectations. We have Dyson stick vacuums at work, and I spend more time charging the dang things than I do actually vacuuming with them.

And when I do actually get to vacuum, they do a pretty sub par job. The omni glide on the other hand is possibly one of the gutsiest little machines I’ve ever used. We’re a multi cat, grubby husband, I’ll wipe those crumbs on the kitchen floor and vacuum it up later kind of household, so I tend to need to vacuum every other day, if not every day, especially in high traffic areas, and around the kitty litters (crystal litter users know what I’m talking about).

The swivel head is a bit too wibbly-wobbly for my personal cleaning style when it comes to hard floors, and it’s SUPER grippy on carpet (hence the 4 star rating) so I tend to use the mini motorised tool more, but the suction is great, and each head definitely serves a useful function.

Other than sewing thread offcuts (that the swivel head definitely did NOT like), the omni glide hasn’t met a challenge it couldn’t tackle in our house. In terms of battery life, if I used it in short, spot cleaning bursts, I’d get roughly 45 mins worth of cleaning out of it, but if I tried to do a full vacuum in one or two rooms, it’d need to go back on charge in 20ish minutes.

I don’t even know how that works, but seeing as I will be primarily using it for spot cleans, I’m fine with the you keep your secrets vibe. As an added bonus, my husband is in love with it, and is now actually volunteering to vacuum, which means no more me going into the bathroom after he’s trimmed his beard and losing a little bit of my faith in humanity because he’s left beard hair all over the sink and floor.

The omni glide isn’t going to replace the other two vacuums we currently have (robot and heavy duty), but it is going to fill a gap I never realised we had- the grab and go spot cleaning vacuum.

My home is hardwood flooring throughout and about 1200sqft of living space. The omni glide did a good job of picking up dust and debris prior to my steam mop routine. Previously I used a DC14 (from ~2007?) for the same job.

The Omni glide was easier to use, did a better job and is much lighter (of course). Also, going from a corded upright to a stick I did not experience my vacuum chasing me down and smashing in to my ankles anymore.

The omni glide did not have enough suction to get kitty litter sized debris from tight corners at the baseboard so I still hit those with my Root6 handheld (from 2009?). I used only regular power to time battery life and even with 3 breaks for bin emptying I got about 15 minutes of run time –alllllmost enough time to go through the whole house.

I bought this unit because it was recommended for hardwood floors. I think it should be stress that this is for light duty and not for whole house (the short runtime gives it away). I am still very happy with the purchase because it is the ideal tool for quick cleanup of litter box area, kitchen, foyer so you can comfortably walk barefoot.

For these jobs I would normally use a broom to gather the dirt then my root 6 handheld to collect it. I do recommend getting a full strength model for whole house cleaning. The charging mount is a little disappointing as it is not intended to suspend the unit above the floor.

Rather, the head of the unit rests on the floor and leans in to the dock. I installed a small shelf for the head as I really hate leaving things like that on the floor. Overall I am really happy with the Omniglide.

It is not up to the job I thought I would use it for, but it turns out to be perfect for small jobs that were annoying or even inconvenient to do with a handheld.

I have a very large Alaskan Malamute plus a cat, and between them it seems like there’s always treat crumbs & loose hair around. I also contribute by frequently eating in the recliner or bedroom. That’s why years ago I traded the hand vac for a small upright as I needed the power.

So initially, I doubted this hand vac would cut it. I was wrong! Once I got it charged up, I was fairly impressed with the strength of this vac’s suction. It’s able to not only get all the little crumbly messes, but even some of the embedded pet hair (still need an upright to clean thoroughly, of course).

The vacuum runs on a battery that is interchangeable in other Hoover cleaning products. Its big and on the heavy side. It takes awhile to charge–the manual says 3 hours. The vacuum stays charged through several brief cleaning sessions.

While the thought of running multiple devices off a single charged battery seems convenient, it also means that if the battery goes, you cant use ANY of your products until the battery is replaced. And they’re not cheap–$100+.

The vacuum is easy to empty and keep clean. However, there is a tiny area at the opening that has collected debris that seems inaccessible. It bugs me so I’ll look further for information on how to access that little area.

Overall a very good hand vacuum although I have some issues with the battery. I would actually rate 4. 5 if that was an option.

The Hoover ONEPWR Cordless Hand Vacuum is used daily in my household. With 2 small kids and 2 dogs, you can imagine how much cleaning I have to do. This hand vac makes my life a little easier. I don’t have to bring out my heavy upright vacuum and struggle bringing it up the stairs.

This product is cordless and has powerful suction. It picks up everything from dirt to dog hair. I no longer have to struggle to vacuum pet hair. The suction picks up the pet hair in one shot. The included crevice tool is perfect for hard to reach areas, like under sofa cushions and corners of rooms.

I also use this vac in my car and the best part is not having to plug it into my cigarette lighter. I have free control to vacuum without a cord holding me back. The dirt cup is fairly large and eliminates the need to stop and empty after each use.

Removing the dirt cup and reattaching it is very simple with a few clicks. I’m really impressed with the ONEPWR battery. It takes a few hours to fully charge, but once charged, it does last a long time.

Once placed into the charger, the battery lights up to show the status of charging which is very convenient. Although the charging station is great, I wish there was a way to mount it to the wall. Overall, this is the best hand vacuum that I’ve ever used.

It’s lightweight, powerful and saves you time. I definitely recommend it!.

I just got this vacuum today and so this review is based on first use and impressions. I got this used from the Home Essentials Direct warehouse deals. It is missing the wedge and upholstery tools. That is fine, I would seldom use them.

It seems to be well built and not as flimsy as the shark and others I’ve tried. Somewhat noisy by comparison but this is a commercial unit and hopefully built to last 10 years. The cord is long, and rugged.

Great job Hoover. I’ll update this review if it breaks or has problems. A few items I would like to address; I see that the extension tools fall off the side very easily. Please design a sturdy mount next time.

Could be why I’m missing tools out of the box? Next, I despise having to replace several filters. My old vac has 2. Which is good enough. Its hard to find them 5 years down the road and they get more expensive each year.

At least make them out of cloth and washable. I’m OK with disposable bags if they biodegrade, but those expensive paper HEPA filters are hard on the environment.

This is not a $1000 vacuum. certainly there are more expensive vacs but, this Hoover upright has all of the advantages of the Tempo line. I pretty much wore out a Hoover Tempo/UH30600 and purchased the CH53005 because it is a later model, is lightweight has same replacement parts, bags, belts, etc.

The Hoover Tempo/UH30600 has lasted ~15 years and is still going strong after many, many cleanings. It works & works & works if you keep it clean. changing bags often, clean the airways & cleaning the filters.

The only thing that failed was the beater bar & the beater bar (BB) shrouding-casement had grooves worn by commercial carpet threads. Replaced the BB with aftermarket parts the BB shroud, casement was fixable with hot melt glue gun.

I use this sweeper when I clean for cleaning clients. It comes with a 30-35 ft. hose which is maybe a little too long for my tastes. The suction is just fantastic, easy changing of the bag. I had hoped there was a place for 2 poles to be attached to the machine, like the Hoover Tempo.

There’s only one pole and a long crevice tool. In reality, I hardly ever use a crevice tool so I think it would be better to provide 2 poles. I need those poles to attach my floor attachment to sweep bare floors.

The pole provided is a good 6″ shorter than the Tempo poles. The info says this machine has 5 positions for vacuuming. Well, it doesn’t seem to lay down flat to go under furniture like the Tempos did.

Not a super big deal. I like that it’s one inch wider on the sweep path.

This lightweight vacuum is easy to push (it almost feels self-propelled thanks to the powerful brush), and has good pickup on hardwood floors I found that it was able to grab both fine and bulkier soils (ranging from dust, crumbs and whole cereal bits, cat kibble, the occasional scrap of tissue paper) in a single pass with ease.

And the HEPA filtration bag is quite nice! The air exhaust from the vacuum had no malodor, telling me that the very fine dust from both carpet and hard floor was successfully trapped. HEPA filtration is vital to keeping indoor air clean as dust and dirt flows through the machine into the bag, so the vacuum bag design for this machine is definitely my favorite feature.

The vacuum cleaner head itself houses the motor and is much quieter than I expected it to be, another plus. The suction power of this machine seems average to me. I could hear silty soil being brushed up for vacuuming and collection in the filter bag on both low pile and moderate plush carpet, but I’m not sure as to how far deep down in the carpet this vacuum reaches.

This vacuum comes with two batteries, and I averaged a run-time of 20 minutes for each battery, giving a total operating time of around 40 minutes in my medium-size home featuring both carpet and hard floor.

I am able to vaccum my entire home with the combined runtime of both batteries. Some minuses: On the topic of suction, I must say again I feel that it’s just average and I’m not sure as to how deep this vacuum reaches into carpet.

However, it must be considered that the cordless design makes the vacuum easier to push, pull, and turn as removing the cord reduces the vacuum weight and that my experience on hard floor was very good.

I don’t think the battery capacity would be sufficient for anything bigger than a typical two story home. I feel that the sidepath pickup was only alright. The takeaway: this quiet and lightweight vacuum has a great HEPA bag for cleaner air and no-fuss disposal, and has lightweight maneuverability with good dirt pickup on hardfloor.

I think this vacuum would make a good choice for someone with a smaller dwelling or apartment with primarily bare or mixed hard floor and carpet surfaces and would recommend it to them.

I was initially skeptical about a battery powered vacuum, but after trying the product out, i can honestly say IT WAS FANTASTIC! I didnt think it would have much power to it working off a battery but this vacuum definitely has a lot of suction! It worked perfect for my apartment living as well! living in a one bedroom apartment, you dont get much closet space and the vacuum doesnt take up much room at all! its slim so it wasnt hard finding it a home in my closet.

It comes with 2 batteries and and charging base that plugs into outlets. The battery has lots of lasting power as well! you dont have to keep recharging it after uses. My absolute hands down favorite feature of this vacuum though is the fact that IT IS CORDLESS! the very thing i was worried about, ended up being what i loved about it! I went thru my whole apartment without having to work around moving cords and unplugging the vacuum to reach all the rooms! The vacuum has floor and carpet settings which is great, i was able to switch the setting when i reached my kitchen floor without having to turn off the vacuum since its conveniently located right at the handle.

It has a light in front of head which is really helpful while your making your way over the flooring so you see everything. I didnt think i would like a bagged vacuum since bag-less ones were all the rage but honestly, i would never go back to bag-less canisters.

These bags are long and sturdy and dust is all contained inside. No more gross musty smelling dust flying everywhere when you empty the vacuum. The only thing missing on this vacuum is that it doesnt have a pull out pipe feature to get in between small spaces.

But i love that i can use this vacuum on my stairs because again, the unit is not big and bulky, its light and narrow so the head fits perfectly on my stairs and i can vacuum each one without breaking my back lifting it from stair to stair.

After the first day i used it, i raved about it to my coworkers and family. and just like me they also questioned the cordless feature but after i let them know it has the same amount of power as a plug in vacuum, they are wanting to check it out for themselves.

Never thought i would get excited over a vacuum like i have over this, but this vacuum really is a game changer!.

Purchased this product as an update to an original FloorMate, model # H2800, that I’ve had for many, many years. Have much more floor to wash now and am much older. Wanted the rotating spin-scrub brushes and the much larger wash solution tank which are an improvement over the original model.

Am disappointed. The old FloorMate out-performs this newer model in the wet vacuum mode, by far, plus the newer model leaks significantly more wash solution than the older model when stationary. The tank is properly seated so that is not the problem.

Thought for sure that Hoover would’ve gotten a handle on this issue on updated models. While the FloorMate remains a great concept, the performance of this new model is not acceptable to me. Will resort to using my original FloorMate and resign myself to filling the wash solution tank 8-10 times as opposed to 3 times but the flooring will be almost instantly dry.

Will ‘gift’ my sister-in-law with this new model so she can wash her back porch floor with ease as she does not require the same level of almost instant dryness that I prefer.

I have used my FloorMate hard floor cleaner for years! I LOVE it! I have gone thru several from simply much use( nothing last forever except the IRS! ). I keep 2 on hand at all times in case one breaks.

It very easy to use & I use it as needed multiple time a week. I love the fact that it has duel tanks & you are never pushing around dirty water! This is so much more sanitary than a mop that you have to constantly keep changing the water! Clean water & cleaning solution squirts out from one chamber.

power brushes scrub. the dirty solution is sucked up in the other chamber that you just pour out when the dirty container is filled! if you have ceramic tile, your floors will not be perfectly even & you will not get total dry suction, but it is still good & will dry in a couple of minutes!.

After reading many reviews, I purchased the Hoover FloorMate Deluxe FH40160. I am happy to report it is working very well, and definitely met my expectations. I ordered a refurbished model because a few reviews indicated the product leaked upon arrival.

With a refurbished cleaner, I figured the machine had already been tested, so I would avoid that issue. Please note that I did not expect the machine to scrub the floor as hard as a vigorous “hands and knees” job.

I just wanted it to do a very good job, without all the scrubbing and many rinses. This thing really does the job. On super dirty floors, I just let it scrub extra long, and add more liquid, and it gets most everything.

I will carry a small scrubbee sponge to hit the few sticky spots it won’t get. I have rental property and recently cleaned 5 floors. It does a great job on all the vinyl, vinyl planking, and laminate.

It doesn’t deep clean grout, but does a good job on tile as well. The best part is, it sucks up all the dirty water. That saves so much time! I don’t have to rinse the mop over and over when cleaning a super dirty floor.

Overall, I am very happy with this product.

This is the 4th Floormate I’ve owned. Very easy to use and clean up. Does a great job on laminate flooring. I used to use a mop, but it would leave too much water on the floor that would seep into the seams of the flooring, causing them to swell.

The Floormate leaves very little moisture on the floor. It’s usually dry within a minute or two. The only thing I’ve noticed with these machines is that the quality seems to be going downhill the past few years.

The first two that I owned lasted almost three years each. The third lasted about 15 months, and the last one was shot by 10 months. The common problem with them is the suction motor/pump assembly. There is an obvious engineering flaw in that the motors are not waterproof, or ever water-resistant as far as I can tell.

They start to rust, then start squealing, and eventually seize up completely. You would think that something that is designed to pump water would be waterproof. I see that they have been discontinued.

I hope they can come out with a better, more reliable design before the one I just bought seizes up.

This is my 4th Floor Mate. My prior one had a handle that folded which made it easier to store between uses, had larger head and 3 settings rather than 2. If you want a more deluxe model be sure to get that and not this model.

The floor mate did a good job as have the others that I bought. The previous one stopped sucking up the dirty water after many years use. I very much like the new storage units for clean water, dirty water on the side.

Both are larger than previous model. I would have like the folding handle feature, size of head not important- may take another 5 minutes to complete the job with smaller head. Would have given 5 starts if it had the folding handle.

Overall FloorMates are great for cleaning expansive areas of hard surface like tile. Recommend getting one. I may simply have purchased a more basic model than the one I had.

I was specifically looking for a strong, BAGGED vacuum that wasn’t too pricey and this one fit the bill! I have light-colored carpet and a long-haired, double-coated dog who sheds considerably. I love that it’s bagged because it’s a pain to clean the bagless vacuums! Our old Hoover was also bagged but had to be replaced due to cracks in the hose.

(It still had great suction, though. I just didn’t want dust flying around. ) I currently also have a Hoover ONEPWR bagless upright for touch-up cleaning. Same great suction that can be expected from Hoover, but as mentioned, cleaning it is a pain and capacity is small.

(Side note: Hoover, I’m glad to see there’s a BAGGED ONEPWR upright! Past my price-point, though. Maybe one day. ) I love that this vacuum not only has strong suction but also has many tools that all fit properly on itself.

We can clean the stairs and window sills just fine. It’s also not very heavy. As for the bag, it’s too soon for me to tell how long it will last as we’ve only had it for less than a month. It does appear to have good capacity considering all the fur we vacuum up.

(We vacuum at least once a week; so far the bag capacity indicator is still green. ) It was also on sale when we bought it so that’s a bonus! Under $200 for a strong vacuum! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because it’s still quite loud.

However, we can still have a conversation while vacuuming so I guess it’s not too bad. With our old Hoover, we had to shout over the noise. So far, overall, this is a good buy.

It’s been a long long time since I’ve used a bagged vacuum so I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect but nonetheless I was pleasantly surprised with the performance. The vacuum was very easy set up and the bag was easy to install too.

You get two vacuum bags included in the box and they are hepa rated. My only gripe about the bags are that I can’t seem to find what style they are so I can buy replacements. Anyhow, I’ve vacuumed several times and the bag isn’t full yet.

It’s so nice not to have to dump the nasty dirt cup everytime I vacuum! This is a very powerful vacuum. It really feels like it’s giving my carpets a deep clean. The only real issue I had was that I couldn’t vacuum small rugs.

The suction is too powerful and there’s no adjustable airflow on the handle. The height is adjustable but even on the highest setting I couldn’t get my little entrance rugs to not get sucked up into the vacuum.

Overall I was surprised at how well this old fashioned vacuum really worked. I would recommend it to anyone that hates dumping the dust cup everytime you vacuum or anyone with allergies.

Hoover always exceeds my expectations for vacuum cleaners, and this Advanced Upright is no exception. The vacuum cleaner does an excellent job at cleaning without leaving behind any debris after use.

I also appreciate how smooth it is to run this vacuum cleaner along a shaggy carpet; I have had cleaners in the past that would snag or leave things behind. This Hoover Upright, however, doesn’t do that; I would say it is much smoother than other cleaners in that sense.

I also really like that the hard surfaces that I have used the cleaner on were effectively cleaned, though I think sweeping or using a smaller/thinner vacuum cleaner would be preferred for hard surfaces.

I do wish the power button was at foot level instead of in the center of the product, but I don’t think that is a huge drawback. All in all, I love this vacuum cleaner, and am thrilled to use it as a replacement for my existing cleaner.

I will definitely continue to use Hoover products (as I usually have) in the future! Highly recommend this cleaner!.

I do not have a pet, I purchased this a couple of months ago because it claimed to have excellent suction. I learned the suction is really no better than any other vaccum I have owned. I also not impressed with the tools that came with it.

The wand extends to twice its length, which is a great idea, but it is hard to lock it in place and it collapses while using it. The brush that came with it is a pivoting dusting tool, bascially a two piece dusting brush that has a joint, its not a thick brush, as the brush is only on the outside rim of the tool which easily comes apart from the nozzle itself, and is really not good for anything other than high usage such as a ceing fan.

It also includes a crevice tool, and a pet turbo tool. As I said, I do not have a pet. When I first expressed my opinion about the tools I was offered a free dust brush and an upholstery brush. It took over a month to receive the free brushes, the upholstery brush was odd, with a hard detachable part, and felt around the edge of the tool itself.

It went in the trash. The dusting tool was exactly like one I had pruchased on line, for a few dollars. the brush part is very thin, again the brush only goes around the edge of the tool. The dusting brush also not a vry good tool.

When I looked on line to see the cost of the tools, I could not find upholstery brush. I guess the tools don’t sell very well so they used them as giveaways to make me feel better about the purchase.

Overall the vacuum itself works well, has good suction and does what it was designed to do. Does it work well for pet hair, I don’t know, but I don’t see why not. MY suggestion is for Hoover to go back to the drawing board, and make brushes that will actually do a good job, and don’t give away something that is not salable.

I recommed the vaccum, but find another source for the brushes.

Somehow it slipped my mind when I ordered this. If you intend to use the attachments or vacuum hard floors with this vacuum then purchase something else. Why? when using the attachments or vacuuming hard floors you can not turn off the carpet roller brush.

Completely unacceptable and this is not unique to Hoover, you need to be careful when purchasing any upright vacuums though more expensive ones most likely will have the feature and even some less expensive ones will too.

I was being careful as Hoover does make a model that I am going to buy someplace else just like this one in the same price range with a carpet roller brush turn off lever. Im really disappointed in Hoover, they have a great product, nice long hose (really important to me) ok attachments at this price, even rubber coated wheels instead of hard plastic but I guess the competition to keep price low compared to the other manufacturers are having them leave off this needed brush turn off.

Its really silly trying to use the all thoughtful attachments with nice long hose only to have the carpet brush roll spinning like crazy in one place on your hardwood floors ( I was cringing when this was happening) and if not on the hardwood try using the attachments on carpet and the vacuum will start walking on its own while you use the attachments.

Product = Fail.

I’ve had the vacuum for a little over six months now and use it about twice weekly. We have two cats and it cleans carpet upholstery and hardwoods fantastically. Be warned though that it is a heavy vacuum to push on long pile carpet (I have the height adjustment all the way up) and it wears me out.

I wish the height adjustment would go a little higher so it doesn’t grab the pile so much and is easier to push. My wife complained about the odor the vacuum leaves in the closet even though I empty and clean the cannister after each use.

We have always had vacuums with paper bags before and never had an issue. I tried some tablets that are supposed to eliminate the odor but they don’t really help. We moved the vacuum storage to the garage where the odor doesn’t matter.

The only design issue I’ve had was with the bottom hook, that holds the cord on when it is wound up. It broke off for no reason after only 3 uses. It is thin rubbery plastic and is pretty flimsy and needs to be redesigned.

Other than that I have liked the vacuum and it has great cleaning capabilities.

Literally the best vacuum cleaner. The price is medium but the killer on this vacuum cleaner is the double battery. I can finally clean my whole car on HIGH mode without the battery dying. If it dies, I have a backup that is included.

I can also clean the whole house, couch, bed and use the wet mop without going out of battery. I have a dog that sheds a lot and even with that the capacity of the holder is okay. I might have to empty it once a week and I use it every day.

The carpet brush is amazing, the smaller carpet brush is good for the couch and bed. Roll brush is a must on hardwood floors! Overall, I love this product. I’ve tried 3 different ones before this, but would never change it.

(Not even for DYSON).

The deciding factor to choose this one Dyson was the possibility of a spare battery charging in the dock, although they don’t appear to be available in Australia yet. Much quieter than my Dyson V6, and battery life is great so far.

Being half the price of current Dyson also helps! Only negative is that the smaller tools seem a bit flimsy and cheap plastic.

The best vacuum we use at home, easy use and good resolt, my sweet daughter used as toy, can use for clean cars also. This is the best electric items we bought from long time.

I have purchased this item for 170(tax included), it worth THIS PRICE. would i buy it for 400? NO! Let’s go for the specifics, we have a dog that loses a lot of hair and this thing SAVE US A LOT OF TIME AND EFFORT.

we use this every 2 days and i can say it does 90% of the job we used to do ourselves! So now i need to pass normal vaccum ONCE a week or less(used to do 3 time/plus a week). I would DEF recommend this for anyone with pets.

It’s noisy ? Not for me. its way less then a normal vaccum, i work from home. let him do his job, close the door from our workspace or just put some headphones. et voyla! no noise at all! Even our dog is not bother by it and she HATES high noises.

My understanding is, this is for a home with not a lof of thing on the ground, if you have it, lift it up and job will be done quicker and better! We just put up our chairs from dinning room and let him do his thing.

but if you have a lot of things laying around maybe this is not the tech for you. this thing need free space to act otherwise will lose a lot of time bumping arround. This is a bumping kind of vaccum, so it will bump into stuff, however i find it gentil when doing that.

will not get your walls marked or anything!.

I’ve had this for a year now and it’s so convenient. Just make sure to get all cords off the floor before you hit clean. The side brush did stop working but I opened it to remove the built up grime and it was back in business.

It runs for about 30 minutes to cover my 500sqft of carpet which takes 10-15 using a manual vacuum and actual effort. This is partly because it doesn’t map like BestBuy’s description claims. It moves randomly and turns when it bumps into an obstacle and so ends up repeating many areas.

Do realize that it isn’t as powerful and won’t clean as well. I ran an experiment where the Roomba had first run and removed all visible dirt. I then went over immediately with the full sized vacuum and it still picked up enough dust to clump together.

So I run the Roomba weekly and force myself to manually vacuum every month or so.

I am very very very happy. Its only for a try but the moment I turn it on it is so good. Cant believed it will clean our floors that good its so cute its like it is program to go under our dining table it goes there first and really stays there until all crumbs and what ever falls there are gone then goes to the living room then the kitchen.

Sometime kitchen then living room but always first under our dining table. Although Sometimes its having hard time going back to the dock but its okay most of the time it does. Wow wow wow. For me it is one of the excellent purchases I ever did.

I don’t need the more advance one it does what i wanted it to do. Simple and direct approach. 5 star all the way. We are so tempted to give it a name it’s like a pet. A very helpful pet. :D.

At first, I was happy with the product. I would be gone for 11+ hours a day for work and didn’t have time to keep up with sweeping, especially with two cats. I got it on a whim since it was on sale at Target and thought “Why not?”.

The first couple months, I was happy with coming home and having the floors be pretty well taken care of. As time has gone on and I was able to be home a little more often, I started to notice that the Roomba just vacuum over the same spots over and over again, get stuck in the same corner of the living room, and get stuck on “cliffs” which was just the edge of the carpet to the vinyl flooring.

It would spend almost a majority of its time spinning in circles and going over the same spots for the entire duration. And then, when it would try and dock itself, it’ll continue to go over the same spots IT WAS JUST GOING OVER for the last 45 minutes and not dock itself.

After about 20 minutes of trying to dock itself, I’ve just gotten to the point where I just physically place it back in front of the dock to have it turn off. I do like the amount of hair it can pick up in one session, but for the amount of times I need to physically move it during that session to go over a different area, it doesn’t seem worth it to me.

For the space I have, it’s just not the product for me.

Rosie joined my family on Christmas Day. At first, she was happy and content to clean, but one day she got trapped under my futon sofa. She spun in frantic circles, but could not get free. By the time I discovered her predicament she had been deeply scratched by a spring.

Rosie was depressed and asked me to buy a new faceplate, but alas iRobot does not sell that part. Rosie carried on but her depression was deeper than I realized and she attempted to harm herself. She knocked over a plant stand with a bonsai tree! Luckily, I heard the crash and went to investigate.

I rescued Rosie just before she reached the puddle of water and wet mud. All is not lost, I found a skin for Rosie and used black pool noodles to make bumpers for some of the dangerous obstacles in the hopes that she will be happy again.

Seriously, this is the best gift I ever received! My carpet is clean and I have extra time to enjoy! Someday I will buy her a big sister, the models that map and empty themselves look amazing.

My husband got me the Roomba 675 for Christmas and OMG. by FAR my favorite gift!!! I love this little thing. We have mostly hardwood floors and a few area rugs along with a shedding Labrador retriever.

This little roomba, sent out once a day for a half hour, has been amazing! My house has never been more consistently presentable. For those who want it to. For those that want a Roomba to deep vacuum their house, be aware, this is not a deep vacuum cleaner, BUT it is the best sweeper I’ve ever seen, to include using my broom and dust pan (which I used to have to do at least every other day just to keep my floors from looking like a quarry).

The Roomba picks up 90 to 95 percent of the tracked in gravel, sand, pieces of grass, maple tree helicopters, spilled cereal, dropped toast crumbs, dog hair, dust, coffee grounds. the list goes on and on.

So yeah, I HIGHLY recommend this product, just be aware, you do still have to actually vacuum your rugs etc with an actual vacuum cleaner periodically, but wow. for day to day tidying up? Yeah, I know it a machine, but honestly, I am already very fond of it! It isn’t very loud either, I mean it does make some noise, it is an electronic sweeper after all, but I can easily watch the news at normal volume or listen to music without it bothering me while it goes around d and does chores that I would have otherwise had to do myself.

LOVE IT! Adding. it does help the roomba to pick up your shoes and to pull the chairs out from under the dining room table a bit, but that is a small price to pay in my opinion to have a hardwood floor that is ‘guest presentable ‘ at any given time.

I do live in a single story home, 2400 sq. Feet, but even this basic model of roomba seems to be learning my homes layout, and if I want it to go somewhere else, I just block it with my foot and off it goes in a new direction.

Maybe I am easy to please, after reading some of the other reviews that were quite critical of its performance, but yeah. I LOVE THIS THING!.
