Yes, the room is cooled very well. But there are plenty of negatives. It is a quiet place as advertised when in fan mode, but my goodness when that shoots up capacitor, it is surprising and very loud and noise.

I find the container of the Vremi smaller than the Frigidaire unit (I don’t use the drain but rather save the water to wash clothes and water plants). I also find the container is made of a much thinner plastic and feels flimsy (compared to the Frigidaire).

It also only pulls out from the sides and doesn’t have an indent in the front, which makes it likely that some water will spill out into the unit when you pull the container out. I also wish it had more space between the floor and the rollers (my surface isn’t flat and there isn’t really room to put wood shims that allows enough space to pull the container in and out of the unit).

And replacing the container is also tricky — you gotta push on both sides gently just-so (especially compared to the Frigidaire unit). So overall the unit works well for what it’s supposed to do. you just got to be gentle with the container and know that you may be changing it more than other units cause the container is on the smallish side.

Overall the product works well. We use ours in a finished basement that is wide open with a large square footage area. We needed something big enough to handle the large space. I purchased this dehumidifier on the basis of independent reviews and rating agencies. It is adequate for my purposes and so far seems to work as advertised. The fan is noisier than I had expected, but tolerable.

I wish it were simpler to empty the bucket. It is too easy to spill water while emptying it, and as a result I have to carry it to the bathtub and pour it in there to avoid drips on the floor. I bought three dehumidifiers at the same time. I returned the other two (Lowes and HD brands) and kept this one. They were all energy star but I found this one to be the quietest. It is being used in an apartment (750 sq ft).

I like the fact that there is a drying feature not only for drying clothes. Before you store it away you can remove excess water that is in the unit to prevent mold, with the drying feature! It was also light to carry up stairs and rolls around easily.

I have purchased 30+ crawlspace dehumidifiers from this company for over a year now. The common trend is that at 10 months or so the units have started to not work or malfunction. After the first couple of units I was still optimistic however now that more units are starting to quit working I’m more concerned.

I bought a house whose previous owner had hooked up a cheap dehumidifier, not designed for continuous use, in the crawl space. When that broke, I purchased the AlorAir. It was easy to connect and has been running at a steady clip ever since, keeping my space consistently dry on very little energy output.

Be sure to read the manual to understand what the various lights mean (e. g. , the power light vs. the compressor light). Once you get it set correctly, it runs on its own like a charm.

This little dehumidifier really keeps my bedroom from smelling as musty/feeling mildly humid as it used to. I wanted a small humidifier that would blend in with my room and I would barely would notice is there and this is the perfect size to sit on my dresser.

I live in a basement apartment in a coastal town in Maine, so along with the outside humidity associated with coastal living that crept in, the basement was generating its own, making for a very damp environment.

With about 850 square feet of living space, I chose the Frigidaire High Humidity 50 Pint Capacity Dehumidifier. The first four days, I set it run to continuously as recommended in the manual. Each day, I saw the humidity drop a little more.

On the fifth day, I set the control at 35%. Since then, it has kept the humidity in the large kitchen-living room area at 30% and the two bedrooms at between 45 and 50 percent. Before the dehumidifier, my towels always felt slightly damp, and even the paper for my printer had a damp feel to it.

Now, my towels dry quickly after I use them, and the paper always feel dry. The only drawback is that the unit does heat the room a bit, a disadvantage in an apartment with no AC and no practical way to install it.

But having drier air has been good for me health-wise and good for everything in the apartment, so I can put up with the heat. Winter will be here soon. One last note, I had to decide between a dehumidifier with a pump that could sit on the floor and push water up to a sink through a hose or one without a pump that would sit on the counter and drain water through a hose into the sink by gravity.

I’ve got this 35 pint unit installed in an approximately 1500 sq. ft unfinished basement/crawl space. It replaced a previous one that I thought had been working since I could hear it turning off and on but at a certain point I started noticing some mildew on some of the exposed floor joists.

Took me a long time to figure out that the old one wasn’t actually working (finally picked up on the fact that there was no water being drained from the humidifier into my sump pump). I also measured the humidity levels with a little hygrometer device and even though the old unit was set at 35% (because it never seemed to get a dry feeling and I thought that was just what I needed to do to get it to work in that kind of space) the hygrometer measured a 70% humidity level.

After reading countless reviews of so many brands that all seemed potentially fine, I finally settled on this one because of the brand recognition and one review that pointed out Frigidaire essentially invented air conditioning.

So far I’m very happy with this unit. I had no idea how dry my basement could actually feel. It quickly wrung out so much moisture it was amazing. I’ve got it set at 55% and so far (one month in) it’s doing a great and consistent job at that level.

My only very minor complaint is the “filter reset” light. It’s set to automatically light up after 250 hours of operation which is a ridiculously short amount of time. I checked the filter at that point and it still looked brand new so I reset everything but in the future I’ll probably end up ignoring the light and just check it every couple of months.

Last comment pertains to when first turning it on. I don’t know if this is specific to my unit or a common operational aspect but when I initially turned it on I was quite concerned about the noise it was making.

The fan had a very strangled sound and there was a strange low but piercing noise being emitted. It really sounded sick but I thought let’s wait a see how it performs. At some point (within 24 hours) that kink worked itself out and now it sounds like what I would expect.

I bought this as a replacement for my previous Frigidaire dehumidifier, which lasted about 10 years. The dehumidifier works fine; on the lowest setting it’s fairly quiet, accomplishes its goal of removing humidity, and has a nice appearance.

That said, it is clearly meant to be used with a permanent drain hose, because the design of the removable bucket changed significantly for the worse as compared to the earlier model. The old dehumidifier had a space in the front, where you could pull the bucket out of the machine.

This meant that as you pulled the bucket out, you would be supporting the bucket until you could get a grip on the bucket’s handle, which in turn meant you didn’t spill any water. This newer model? No front space.

Instead, there are indents on the side, where you put your hands to pull the bucket out. Of course, because you need both hands, that means the bucket comes out and immediately starts tipping forward (because it’s FULL OF WATER), potentially spilling some on to the floor.

When you can finally grab the handle, you have to pull it out, but of course it’s not braced in the front, so you pull it out, the rear of the bucket drops, and water splashes everywhere (because it’s FULL OF WATER).

Now that you have water everywhere, you can dump the bucket into a sink, toilet, or out doors. But there, too, the bucket is poorly designed for POURING THE WATER OUT. Internal supports mean water gets trapped in sections of the bucket unless you pour it just right, and even then, the shape of the bucket means water is going to come from three or four different corners when you pour.

The plastic cover on top of the bucket (which is there pretty much for the bucket’s handle) only has a few open holes in it, so you HAVE to dump the bucket in a way where the water will go through the hole.

The end result is a bucket where you are forced to pour in very limited ways that encourage unintended spills. All in all, the design of the bucket seems to favor form over function. It’s difficult to get out without spilling, and difficult to pour without spilling.

If you have a permanent drain, I would recommend this model. If you are planning on using the bucket. have you considered installing a permanent drain?.

First off, I find this unit a good value for the money, provided it lasts. I replaced my 10year old dehumidifier with it a little over a week ago, and it seems to be solidly built, so I have high hopes on that score.

The instruction manual isn’t particularly helpful, but there really isn’t much to operating it. For my purpose, the “comfort” setting is mostly useless, but it does pull a lot of water out of the air on either timed or humidity percentage setting.

It is very quiet for a dehumidifier, too! My one gripe with it is that it doesn’t truly completely shut down when it reaches the set humidity level (my old one turned off everything except the sensor, then powered up when the humidity rose); it turns off the compressor, but keeps running the fan continuously.

So unless you want to slightly run up your power bill, use the timer.

Humidifier seems to be working great in basement. Pulls out a lot of water and auto function seems to work well, adjusting the fan speed based on the measured humidity level and even turning off the fan completely when the level is low enough.

I’ve been using the humidifier about a month in a fairly humid environment (started around 70% humidity) and now the dehumidifier keeps the basement at around 50%+\-5% on auto (confirmed with separate hygrometer).

There is a bit more noise than I was expecting from this dehumidifier (granted this was the first I’ve owned). It sounds a bit like an old refrigerator, maybe a bit louder when on anything but the low setting.

There is also some extra vibration that seems to come from the tank. And there is occasionally a fairly loud knocking sound when what I am assuming is the condenser turns off. The biggest disappointment so far for me though has been the WIFI/Smart app integration.

There were some challenges getting the device to connect to WIFI initially (after failing in the app multiple times I had to press and hold down the WIFI button until the device turned completely off (perhaps reset?) before it would finally connect in the app (this was not described in the instructions).

The app does not send push notifications when the bucket is full, instead you have to manually go into the app to check to see whether or not the device is stopped because the bucket is full. Very disappointing on something that seems like a basic functionality of a smart/WIFI integrated device.

There’s no way of telling how close it’s getting to be full either so without push notifications, I’ve found it just as easy to occasionally run to the basement and empty the device regardless of whether or not it is full.

It also seems like it would be really easy to add some kind of schedule capability to the device (e. g. I want it to run at this level and setting between these hours only on these days of the week) but alas the only option available now is to delay the stop of the device, something I have not used.

You can change the setting (auto, low, med, high) and turn it off and on via the app but it should be able to do so much more with the higher price tag on this device. I’m hoping to see some upgrades on the App eventually fixing some of the things listed above otherwise I’m not sure it’s worth the extra money for a consumer to invest in the WIFI model.

This dehumidifier is worth the price tag, look no further! It is extremely powerful, but quiet enough in our utility room to not be a nuisance. New England summers are tough in terms of home humidity, and this machine does its job and more.

We do not have a hose hooked up for disposal, and I can say that the bucket is not difficult to remove/carry when filled. It is incredible how fast the bucket fills – speaking both to our humidity and the capabilities of this dehumidifier! Wi-Fi is also a nice feature to have.

This is my first brand new dehumidifier. When I moved into my house I discovered the previous owners had left the dehumidifier in the basement. After living in my house for a year I decided to try that dehumidifier.

It was loud. I liked that it had a drain hose connected to it, but after reading many reviews, I discovered there had been fires connected with pre-2021 dehumidifiers. I found the Frigidaire on Amazon and liked that I can connect to my wifi network.

It works great! I am astonished at how much water it pulls from the air in my basement! I highly recommend this particular model. The app is a little buggy. I can’t always turn the unit off when I’m away from home.

Most times I can, but sometimes I get the “something went wrong” message. Other than that, it’s a nearly perfect machine. Hopefully a future upgrade will show the rate at which water vapor is pulled from the air or the amount of water is in the tank.

Super running machine. Tank is a bit too small for the amount of water that this machine sucks out of the ( my basement’s ) air. Not ready to hook up the drain attachment. Prior machine of the same dehumidifying size/power ( Whirlpool ) had a larger front tank.

Now dumping in the a. m. and before bed. During the 1st week+, an added mid aft dumping of water was needed. Unit has made a major difference in the basement/house as the the air that feeds my home’s heat pump for a/c is much less humid.

When removing the filled front tank, the unit surprisingly does not turn off during the procedure, unlike my prior dehumidifier. The unit does turn off when the tank is full though. One thing to beware of when dumping, is to make sure you empty the water at the end where there is a larger opening area.

The end has the moving water level plastic square lever. The interior plastic liner the sits below the handle of the reservoir tank is very flimsy, like a cheap “Tupperware” knockoff quality. The pressure from the water dumping pushed push the interior cover upwards ( without my knowledge ) and resulted in the water being diverted and draining out of the unit overnight, hence flooding the floor rather than collecting into the unit.

The Honeywell unit’s fan is considerably quieter than my last Whirlpool, which stopped dehumidifying entirely after 8 great years of service. I hope my new unit’s life expectancy comes close to the deceased Whirlpool.

This I sadly doubt based on current cheaper materials and the manufacturers’ need to meet consumer price points. The wifi enabled feature I awill eventually test out and will surely prove handy. 5 Star Unit!.

I have a damp house- humidity was running in the 60% range in the summer. I had been researching on a good dehumifier on Amazon, but ended up visiting Best Buy and making a choice among the brands they had on stock.

Luckily one of them was this Honeywell model that I remembered had good reviews on Amazon. I bought it and have been very pleased with its performance so far. It serves as a whole-house dehumidifier, and it is working well so far.

It is a little on the loud side; it sounds like a window air conditioning unit, but after a while it becomes white noise that I no longer notice. The instructions say to initially set the unit to 30% and let it work its way to that point.

It is supposed to reach that in a few days, but it has never gotten to that– the best it has reached is 39%. But I’m still satisfied with that. I live in the South where high humidity is really bad.

Right now, the reading upstairs is about 41%, which is amazing, I think, for August. The water capturing reservoir is large, so we only empty it out about 3 times a day. There is an option to hook it up to a hose, but we like the portability of wheeling it wherever we think it will best serve its purpose.

The unit beeps two or three times when the reservoir is full, and it also notifies me on my phone! I love that feature!.

Love! Love! Love! The little dehumidifier that could! Honeywell has always been a favorite brand of mine & I learned about the company from my folks way back in 1967. It works like a charm, comes with its own hose in case you have a drain into which it can continually drain.

The splash guard is a nice addition, especially since water was always slopping out of the Danby model that preceded this one. The only negative if you can call it that is it seems flimsy in comparison to the Danby one that finally “kicked the bucket”.

BUT, that has to do with how most things are built these days. I will reserve judgment until much later on the durability of this most modern version. The dehumidifiers my folks bought were made of metal, then they were made of a heavier duty plastic or similiar substance.

Just because the modern ones aren’t as heavily constructed doesn’t mean they are truly “filmsy”. I went with the Honeywell because of the 5 Year Warranty. My Danby lasted at least 8 years maybe 10, I don’t really remember for certain, But Honeywell makes good products & this was on sale.

I do find it interesting that it used to be considered a 70 pint capacity unit; but, changes in how the measurements are determined have lowered it to the 50 pints. Am very pleased so far.

I live in a pretty humid area and my apartment always felt humid inside as well. The humidity would add pressure to my joints and adds to a heaviness in the apartment. The dehumidifier does what it says! The apartment AC and the dehumidifier together give the apartment a lighter feel and helps keep it cooler.

The size works perfect for an 800 sq ft apartment. It is light enough to pick up and use in my bedroom at night. The water reservoir is large enough that it only needs to be emptied 3 times in 24 hour cycle.

I cannot believe I waited so long to purchase a dehumidifier!.

Our first Frigidaire unit was the older version of this one. It lasted 7 years in a very humid environment (basement) that before its usage had become damp and musty, along with some mold. This unit handled the moisture very well such that the basement has been very dry and without any issues at all.

Unfortunately, the first unit failed during a storm, along with a number of other items that apparently got a voltage surge. Without hesitation, we bought another that was the updated version of the original one.

This was packaged very well and installed easily. Though we are not using the wi-fi, it is a very nice feature to have at the ready.

Originally, I bought a temp and humidity meter, and found out my house humidity level was 72% (I live in Florida). Above 60% is known to grow mold. That caused me to decide to buy this unit, which is what we use at work, so I was very familiar with it.

This dehumidifier works so well that I frequently have to dump the 2 gallon reservoir. By frequently I mean every 1-2 days ! It is amazing 2 gallons of water is in the air inside my house and is pulled out every day or two.

The machine automatically shuts off when you remove the reservoir, and starts again when it is replaced. I have this unit set to maintain the humidity at 50%, and the other meter confirms that to be the case.

I think the other settings are 40% and 35% and Continuous. Even on Continuous, my humidity level does not drop below 45% (again, I’m in Florida, with HIGH HUMIDITY). Great machine, but need to figure out how to install the drain line so I don’t have to dump the reservoir all the time.

Its fun at first, but is already starting to get old, LOL. By the way, ordered 4 machines, and 2 arrived damaged. 1 was cosmetic superficial damage and I kept it, but I had to send the other back for replacement.

My sister, her fiancée, and a vacant rental are the proud recipients of the other 3 units. MOLD = BAD, DEHUMIDIFIER = GOOD !!! Nuf said. :-).

I live in Florida, and the windows in my condo are. not great. They leak horribly. Which means humidity inside is routinely over 60%, and sometimes as high as 80%. I had a normal dehumidifier, but it was hopelessly outmatched by the constant humidity.

Even running all day, the most I could hope for was to bring the humidity down to the high 50s (if the starting point was 75-80% humidity, the most I could hope for was to bring it down to about 63%.

Clearly not ideal). And it was incredibly loud, which most normal dehumidifiers are. This Colzer, though, is in a class all by itself. First, it is easily twice the size of my old one, which means more powerful and capable.

It is also beautiful. The cabinet is tall, with rounded edges, and the controls are digital and easy to read and use. Only complaint there is the manual. It’s like it was made for smurfs. Could it have killed them to make it human sized? Not everyone has 20/20 vision.

When operating, this thing is audible, but far quieter than my old one, to the point that I can actually watch tv with it running 5 feet away from my tv. Which is impressive. More impressive is that you can set the relative humidity target you desire for the room.

When it reaches it, the dehumidifier goes into standby, and will only turn back in when humidity starts to climb. This means you can leave it on all day and night, and it will automatically shut off when the target humidity levels are reached.

I also need to point out this thing is EFFECTIVE. Whereas my old Soleus dehumidifier struggled to keep humidity low and barely managed to reduce it by more that 15%, this bad boy got my condo from 74% to 50% in less than an hour, and it has maintained it there for the last 5 hours, even turning off occasionally for 10-20 minutes before needing to start back up.

However in all that time, my humidity sensor in my house has remained rock steady at 50%, which is the maximum humidity I set up for my place. This thing, in other words, is outstandingly effective. The dehumidifier comes with a large receptacle that holds up to 2 gallons of water.

It also has a tube you can connect to a drain plug to let the water drain that way. Just be aware that there is no pump involved in this, so the machine has several warning stickers indicating the drain tube has to be positioned just so, in order to ensure proper drainage using gravity.

Which is true for most units in the market, so I’m not shocked. All in all, this is a fantastic unit. I have only had it for 2 days, but so far I am impressed of its capability, effectiveness and quiet operation.

I have a small dehumidifier for my bathroom, but for some reason, my condo unit stays humid year round, so I needed a larger unit to dehumidify the rest of the rooms. This is a really powerful, large-capacity unit that works quickly and efficiently.

Large dehumidifiers simply work better and faster than small ones. Within a few minutes, this unit begins extracting water out of the air without raising the temperature in the room more than a couple degrees.

The controls on this unit are very simple and intuitive. I like that it shows the temperature of the room along with the humidity level. It came very well packed and was easy to set up. You simply plug it in and it goes to work.

It has wheels on the bottom and is easy to move around. It looks great in any room and takes of less space than the other style of dehumidifiers. I like that the air comes in the back and out the top, so that I can dry clothes above it if I want.

There is a setting specifically for that. This unit is also very quiet. It just sounds like a fan running. I only use it on the lowest setting because it has plenty of power to work quickly. The large-capacity tank is easy to empty or can be attached to a plastic tube to run continuously.

This unit would be great in a humid basement as well, since it is so powerful and basements tend to be humid. Really nice unit.

Well, let me start by talking about the drain system. It works, but that’s only if you you have a place to drain it into. I thought, it got full, then tells you to drain it. No. It drains little by little.

So I had the drain hose hooked up and found water in the rug from the constant dripping. I put the plug on it and just drain it manually when the light comes on. Next issue. The 40 pints can be heavy for weak people.

Plus it can slosh around when you drain it. Ours is near the door, so it is a little easier. Be aware that when the light first comes on if you remove the drawer holding the water, some more water will drip out.

Wait for a little time to lessen this action. Reduce the chance of mold growing. Thirdly, when it sits for a period of time, empty the water. It will become slimy looking at the bottom of the drawer.

Empty it, clean it with mild soap and water, and let it air out. Problems solved. Effectiveness – WORKS VERY GOOD!.

Dislikes: a. Blows out HOT air, continuously. BAD for summer usage! b. Cannot adjust vents (on top) to direct air flow from Dehumidifier c. No real instructions for cleaning OR regular maintenance d.

Unit will shut-down at 10′ of your setting. Set it on 50% and it shuts down when it hits 40%. (Otherwise, it will keep running. ) e. When I spoke with CHESTER (CSR) he stated he would check on my issues and he never called back Likes: 1.

Reasonable Price 2. Semi-Loud noise when turned “on” 3. Water (extracted) only needs to be dumped 3-4 times each day.

Great product. Small enough it rolls about easily on castors. The auto shut off (turn it on and let it go) works great so no worries about spilling over before you empty it. Very sturdy and feels solid.

The handle on the top of the water collection drawer (which is exposed when you begin to pull the drawer out, makes it very easy to carry to your dumping location. The only cautionary comments are (1) it may be too very heavy to lift (for some) so, heft the box in the store before you buy, it you’re straining, don’t buy it as it won’t get lighter at home, (2) when you put it away for storage, make sure you thoroughly wipe out the interior of the compartment where the water capture drawer sits as each time you pull it out to empty, the unit will drip a bit more, perhaps a teaspoon or so and you don’t want to store it wet, (3) unless you remove the styrofoam packaging from the box, it won’t fit back in once the castors are attached – and they are near impossible to remove – so just add a few pieces of styrofoam back into the box to provide bulk to avoid smashing the power connector cord and you’ll be fine to save it for next usage and (4) it can be a little LOUD if you run it in a room where people are; wish it had a lower sound setting for that, but, for garage/basement where you only occasionally are near it, just fine.

The castors work well, but, on heavy shag, not so well. You might want to put it on a low tray to keep it from sitting directly on your carpet or wood floors to keep it wandering about on the castors if someone bumps it in passing.

These are issues every portable or semi-portable dehumidifier will pretty much have, so, not a big deal really. Great price and it looks pretty nice, too!.

I recently got a GE 22-Pint ENERGY STAR Dehumidifier (model ADHL22LA) for our 6×15 laundry room. From unboxing to start took about 10 minutes. Non-locking casters are included for install (in the water bucket).

The dehumidifier has responsive push buttons (housed under a fairly lighter-duty plastic cover) and bright LED indicators/display. The unit has four fan speeds (low, med, high, and Smart Dry). Smart Dry adjusts fan speed based on the set humidity level and how hard or not the fan has to work to pull air over the evaporator coils.

The unit has humidity settings from 35% Relative Humidity (RH) to 80% RH, which can be adjusted in 5% increments. Our laundry room RH was 50% (we’re still in early Spring in PA… so, comfortable, but on the high side).

I wanted to see how quick the unit could drop that laundry room to 35%. So, using the Speed and the -/+ buttons, I set the device to Smart Dry and 35% RH, at 2PM. Within two hours, the RH indicator hovered around 40%.

The unit must’ve reached 35% sometime when my wife and I slept. When we woke, the unit was off and the bucket was half full. Regarding the fan and condenser noise… while fan noise at different levels equates to little more than “white noise” for me, condenser noise is relatively loud.

We have a one-story ranch home… not an open-house concept. Two walls separate our living room from our laundry room. From our living room, you have to walk through an open dining room, through a semi-open kitchen, and finally to the laundry room, which, although the room has a door frame (the door was removed years ago, and hinge recesses patched, to open things up a little) is enclosed on 3.

75 sides (yes, I know that dehumidifiers should be run in fully-enclosed rooms for maximum efficiency, but this is what we have). From our living room I can hear the dehumidifier condenser. An enclosed/doored room won’t be a problem, but if you have an open space and don’t want to hear your humidifier (no easy request of any dehumidifier, based on how they need to work), you might want to look elsewhere.

You can tell there’s no noise dampening measures incorporated in this unit at all. It’s just a fan/condenser, bucket, other internal parts, and the metal housing. The bucket holds 22 pints (2. 75 gallons… think 2 and ¾ gallons of milk).

But it is good for a small-ish room. There’s an Empty indicator that lets you know when the water bucket is full. In addition, the bucket has a viewing window that lets you monitor water levels (not all dehumidifiers have this, so, it’s a nice feature).

When the bucket’s full, the unit will not operate (a good thing unless you want wet floors). If needed, you can hook a garden/washer hose to the unit so you don’t need to worry about bucket emptying.

But, you have to ensure that your drain is well below your dehumidifier, as there’s no built-in pump and the hose is gravity-fed. The filter is an easy-clean, easy-remove nylon mesh filter, which you might need to clean if you have a really dusty house and/or pets.

You’re supposed to clean the filter a) when prompted by the filter service indicator and/or b) every 250 hours of operation. Re: air flow, GE recommends 18 inches of space around the entire unit (fairly standard for dehumidifiers).

Note that you should also clean the water bucket with a bleach solution/detergent every once in a while to ensure no mold/mildew grows. Of note, there isn’t really cord storage with this unit, like there is on my more expensive unit we use in the basement.

Yes, there’s a place on the back of the unit where you can insert the plug prongs to keep the plug off the ground when not in use, but there’s no cord wrap (nothing a zip tie/velcro strap can’t fix).

Some other bennies, the unit does have a delay-off/on feature that allows you to set exactly how long it will run before shutting off or how long it will stay off before it turns back on, until you interact with the dehumidifier again.

The unit also has a bucket full/missing bucket alarm. If a power outage occurs, the unit will start back up on its own once power is restored. The unit will also auto shut off when the bucket is removed/water is full and it won’t start again until the bucket is reinserted and the water-level monitoring arm is in the right position.

And, finally, the unit has an auto defrost cycle that turns off the condenser and runs the fan to defrost evaporator coils if frost builds up on them — a really nice addition for a unit in this price range.

So, all in all, worth buying? Backed by a one-year warranty, although I hope to get many more than that out of it, yes, so far. For the price (which is really on the lower side of dehumidifier pricing), and although the GE condenser is on the louder side, the unit is easy to use, offers a number of options for the price range, and does what it’s supposed to do… really well.

For a smaller-sized room, I’d have no problem recommending this little GE dehumidifier.

The Assembly of the 20 pint unit was easy, the bucket full with water isn’t too heavy to take out and then disposed of. The nice thing is that the air from the exhaust is cool as opposed to warm or hot.

The only difficulty was in the store when I had to pick up the box and put it in the cart and then again in my car that was cumbersome. If the Box had an opening for hands on the side that would have been very convenient to move it.

The unit itself is easy to roll around the house on a hard floor little slower and requires a little lifting on the carpet, the wheels don’t flow or role as easily on carpet. Probably due to the fact that the unit itself is a little heavy for those small Caster wheels.

If it’s run on low speed the sound is easy to talk over if you need to have a conversation. And even on high it’s not that loud. The smart fan part of the unit is a good plus to the evolution of this dehumidifier.

Bought a used Tosot at a Habitat for Humanity Restore. Great product, there is a pump which means I am able to leave it on and have it drain into my sink. I can’t lift heavy items so the pump was necessary.

I put this in my kitchen and it has made a huge difference. I live near two rivers on a hill. Everyone has sump pumps on this block, it is a wet area. This thing pulls so much water out of the air. The wheels make it easy to move when I’m not using it.

Now that I have one, I see the value in paying full price for this product.

Purchased the 50 gallon dehumidifier a few years ago. Stopped working completely. In trying to get a resolution to fix the unit from the Tosot company, I was given a 15% discount to buy another one. Really? This is your solution? Admission of a poor product?Really disappointed in this company.

my unit worked for about 16 months and then had a freon leak. I was 4 months out of warranty. It’s disappointing you can’t make a product that retains the freon of all things for more than a year and a half.

Customer service runs you around in circles doing pointless things like unplugging the unit and plugging it back in. Last I checked that doesn’t fix freon leaks.

I knew nothing about dehumidifiers when I began shopping for one. I have a 24X30 ft metal building. It is insulated. I live in SC and humidity runs ramped here in the summer. My building smelled musty and it was so humid inside , I could not spend any time in it.

I ordered this hoping I would not regret it. Well let me tell you !! I was in love with this by the morning after it arrived. It is pulled gallons of moisture out of the air. 8 gallons in 2 days. There are no visible signs of water in the building.

I had no idea it would do this. And now just 5 days later, it is still working hard and no long smells like mildew. I can’t tell you how much I love this machine. Worth every penny. I would buy it again in a heart beat !.

Easy to set up & use. Includes tubing for built-in pump. Tubing has a built-in fitting on one end to connect/disconnect to/from pump connector at bottom right of unit, viewed from rear. Fairly quiet even at high fan speed.

Surprised that pump cannot be activated to pump out the bucket when the bucket is full. Had expected pump, when activated, to turn on automatically when bucket is full, pump out the bucket & then turn off, as our prior dehumidifier with pump had operated.

Instead, GE pump runs on a timed cycle: 34 sec pumping time + 4 min 51 sec between pumping = 5 min 25 sec cycle time. Pump operates on this cycle whenever it is activated & the dehumidifier is running.

If pump is activated when the bucket is empty, it will keep the bucket empty, or nearly so, instead of letting the bucket fill & then pump out the full bucket. This works, but the product description and/or the product manual should be more specific.

I’ve had this dehumidifier now for about a month and it’s been great so far, and pleasantly surprised as I was worried I would probably be testing the limits and expectations of it since I’m using it in my 3 car garage.

My garage is finished, but obviously not airtight with the overhead doors allowing the outside environment to leak in. I set the smart humidity to 45%, and expected the machine would probably run nonstop trying to fight the outside coming through.

I’ve been surprised how well it’s handled the big garage. It can reach desired lower humidity levels and does not need to run nonstop. I also love how it came included with an internal pump and long hose which I ran outside and haven’t had to worry about emptying the reservoir.

This dehumidifier operates much more efficiently than my previous Frigidaire, which was freezing up constantly despite having a clean filter. This new GE run quietly, uses it’s internal humidistat to run as needed, and includes a pump in case you do not have a nearby drain and do not with to have to empty the bucket, which is another option.

I am considering a second one for my garage where I store vehicle I want to protect from the elements. Highly recommended.

IšverstiShow in original languageI purchased a dehumidifier because of the recommendation that my solid wood guitars be stored at 45-55% humidity, a range too often exceeded here in sunny (and humid) Florida.

I purchased the 35 pint model intending to use it in a 450 square foot room that I use as a music practice room. However, since this room is adjacent to our laundry room, I ended up using it in my study (120 square foot room) where I hang my guitars from the wall.

Guitars should after all be seen as well as heard! This unit is great at controlling humidity at 5% above and below the setpoint, but at the expense of a lot of generated heat. I monitored humidity and temperature over a number of days, and found that the heat output was predictably highest on very humid days, but did not expect the temperature to increase by up to 4 degrees Fahrenheit on the most humid days.

The problem of this degree of heat output (pun intended) is compounded by the fact that a low humidity makes a warm room feel hotter than it actually is. So, the perceived gain in temperature is actually more than 4 degrees F.

Also, I keep my study door shut as the rest of the house is at a higher humidity. The resulting stuffiness adds to the discomfort. Overall, this experience exemplifies the concept of entropy, the general tendency of the universe and human experience towards disorder and chaos.

Solving one problem invariably produces a number of other problems that require their own unique solutions. In turn, each solution produces its own novel set of problems, ad infinitum. Of course, I could have purchased a smaller dehumidifier model, but expect that it would have had to work harder, producing more heat and effort to maintain.

Or I can set the unit to maintain a higher relative humidity, since up to 60% humidity for guitars is considered generally acceptable. Or, God forbid, I could ditch my guitars! No way will I commit this heresy: entropy is more tolerable with music! Overall, this unit does its job well, though the 10% range of humidity control, and the heat output, is a bit more than I bargained for.

I now store my expensive guitar in a case with humidity control packs, and keep a cheaper model on display. I will experiment with a higher humidity setting, and use the unit only on very humid days.

This solution of course comes at the expense of added labor. Entropy wins!.

IšverstiShow in original languageOur old basement dehumidifier finally died after > 20 years. The specs on this unit, and reviews, were solid, I’m quite happy with it. This dehumidifier took our roughly 1200 square foot basement from around 72% down to 44% humidity over several days, has been maintaining it at that point since.

I have the Smart Dry function running, with the set point nominal 50% (it reads a bit high – the 44% is from several separate humidity sensors, plus subjectively based on comfort); the unit turns on when the humidity has gone up a bit, and adjusts fan speed as it settles in on the target, eventually going off entirely.

I have the dehumidifier on a small platform adjacent to our heater (meeting the recommended free space around the humidifier), with an outlet hose feeding into the heater’s external condensate pump. Drilling a small hole in the top of the outlet hose, just outside of where it enters the knockout area, and snuggly hand-tightening the hose to the unit (I use some teflon paste on the fitting – ease of removal), has been working fine – no issues with airlock on the outlet hose.

The check filter light on top of the unit is handy, and filter access easy. Based on installation location I doubt the filter will need cleaning frequently, beyond blowing out any light dust that settles on it.

This one definitely removed moisture much quicker than the 30 pints. The wifi capability allows me to monitor home humidity while away. After piping this into the house sewer, the dehumidifier can run unattended for months if necessary.

Still need to clear the screen filter on occasion. My only gripe is the humidity sensor update interval is either too long, or is inaccurate by about 5-10%. The other humidity sensors in the room update within seconds and show a 1% difference between the two, but this dehumidifier is consistently about 5-10% different than the other 2 sensors in the room.

Not a deal breaker, just something to consider when you set the humidity level on the dehumidifier. This unit is much quieter than my previous unit at only 54 db which is a little less than normal conversation (60 db).

After having 3 other units from differing manufacturers, this one has a low noise level, drops humidity in a 200 sq ft room quickly and has impressive build quality. Despite the humidity sensor being slightly off, I would still recommend this unit over any of the others.
