20 Best Hip Stretches For Runners (2023 Updated)

My first leg stretch machine was years ago, a Century. I had it repaired once (the gear broke) extended the leg supports, upgraded the saddle, and had to change the wheels. It lasted about 15 years before I sold it.

I recently bought the Titan leg stretcher. The leg supports are much better, the saddle is much more comfortable and I hope the gears are sturdier. The wheels are smoother than even my upgrade. The operation is much smoother and the frame appears to be much sturdier than the Century.

It is easily moved from one place to another, with rollers on the backside. My knees don’t hurt the way they used to when I got into a deep stretch on the old stretcher. So far I am extremely pleased with this product.

Thank you Titan for making a great product. I would recommend paying the extra and getting the Titan stretcher. The Century worked for me for many years, but I can tell immediately, this is going to be a much better product.

Heavy duty leg stretcher. Good quality. absolutely sucks to assemble ! No instructions. you need to download them from titan website. Titan should just put the instructions in the box. also only 1 grab bar ! Should be 2 bars or none at all.

This is a great machine. easy to use and is a lifesaver for me. Sturdy construction and design. Only drawback is that it takes a couple of hours to assemble. Overall one of the best online purchases I have ever made.

Lightweight, stable, you can knock off sets of dips, plances, levers to your liking Sometimes I flip them over and do pushups off them. Especially good for bodyweight (horizontal) rows, a much neglected movement.

8 lbs each! To those who say ‘too short’, bend your knees! Good for confined workout space as well, and stores like magic.

Amazon was sold out so I had to order mine elsewhere, got the black XL one because I wanted the 3″ extra height and especially, the longer support feet which will make it more stable. About the only thing about it I wish were different, is the plain black color.

I already have too many black things in my place, haha! A nice bright yellow or green like the standard models would’ve been nice. Only other gripe I have about this product is that the instructional DVD it comes with is rather sparse (you have to fast forward over the silly first 2 minutes of watching some guy do exercises on the LE in the middle of Times Square.

huh???), and the “Le Hip Training” DVD also included is even more frivolous. Oh well, that’s what YouTube is for of course, best place to get exercise and workout ideas. It’s great for novice exercisers like my other half who can’t do normal pullups but are ok with the bar pullups on these.

Also good for us old hands too—especially the core exercises like knee ups, “running man,” and (eventually) L-sit. If you want to be completely blown away by what is possible with this thing I suggest looking up “Frank Medrano Equalizer Training” on You Tube! Of course that level of strength and mastery doesn’t happen overnight, lol.

I’d be happy to just be able to doan L-sit six months from now. Another excellent YouTube resource with lots of great exercises you can do on these things, is BodyRock TV’s “24 Moves for the Challenger” which is refreshing for the lack of fluff and annoying chatter/filler.

(Plus the model doing the exercises is mind-blowingly hot, lol. ) The other thing I really like about these bars is that they are very easy to store when not in use. especially if you have furniture that has space underneath.

my LE goes partially underneath one of my bookcases that has a nice 2 inch ground clearance. All in all, the price is a bit steep but I’m glad I got it. can already feel my core getting stronger after just a week of using it!.

I absolutely love the versatility of the Lebert Equalizers. I can use them at home, at the gym or even bring them into the middle of an open field and get an incredible full body workout. We’ve been getting into yoga, and my husband and I have back issues, so the ProSource Yoga Wheel seemed to be exactly what we needed. It is great for stretching your spine, and it comes with a handy little booklet of yoga poses.

Our daughter loves to use it to roll around the living room, too. I’ve been doing “Toddler Yoga” with her, and the yoga wheel just adds a little extra bit of support for me because my balance is a little off due to inner ear issues.

It is about 12 inches in diameter on the inside, and it has a nice, soft tire-like tread for stability and comfort. The inner wheel is very sturdy for my husband and I to use to stretch our backs, and we are not slender people.

We will definitely use the ProSource yoga wheel for a long time to come.

My girlfriend and I both do yoga a few times a week, and this is a good addition to the workout. The size of the wheel was a bit bigger than expected and was uncomfortable using it for the first week or two.

After getting used to it however the wheel has helped a lot with stretching. The material is high quality. It’s wrapped in a yoga mat type of material, and there’s no chance of the metal wheel itself breaking.

Overall it’s a decent yoga wheel!.

I bought these to assist with my ankle mobility. I’m hoping these will help my progression move along a little faster. I like the incline and feel I have room to advance as my mobility gets better. My daughter hopped right on and squatted down without her heels lifting darn, wonderful kids 😊.

I definitely think they are light weight and small enough to tuck into any closet or under my bed and come with a great little travel bag to protect them. They also come with a card to show examples of things you can do with them so I decided to try each option for my review.

Upon doing so I quickly realized that these tend to slide on rugs or wood/carpeted floors so be aware of this. It’s not too bad but could create a problem if you don’t apply your weight evenly. The more weight that is applied, the less likely they were to slide.

And, I had no problems with them sliding on top of a yoga mat at all. I also noticed that if your weight isn’t distributed well they could flip over. Just some things to be mindful of. I am in love with the push-up option as it will quickly help me increase strength in that, and the scorpion option as well.

I love how it increases the intensity of the stretch, which I didn’t even think I cared about. Another option was to use it for planks under the elbows. I loved this too because I often used my yoga mat doubled at the end or a flat pillow, or some other cushion when I do my planks anyways.

I did notice right out of the bag that they are super thin at the l.

Wow I really like these foam wedges. They areactually large enough to just use one. The angle is perfect and just what I was looking fir. I tried others and the wedge is nit Hugh enough. I use one to stretch my calves then I use the other one flipped over to raise my heels for squats.

I’ve had knee pain doing squats but using the wedge the pain goes away. I also like doing squats that focus on quad development so using a closer stance I only need to use one wedge. It works great with a wider stand using both of them as well.

I’m really glad I bought this product and would highly recommend it.

Purchased because I have a ganglion cyst in my wrist and my teacher suggested using a wedge to help change the angle of the wrist in the pose. I have also played with using cork blocks and bending my knees which is a much easier modification than using these wedges.

I think my primary issue with them is they are too slippery, if you don’t grip them just so you are going to feel like you’re sliding which is not an issue I have when using the blocks. If you’re looking to use these for other poses or purposes they may very likely work for you but after trying, with much frustration, for one class, there are better modifications for this pose.

I realize I could have given them more of a try but honestly it was too much work to mess with them and reposition the wedges and my hands every time I got into that pose, I gave up mid class out of frustration.

It’s a shame because I really wanted these to work for me! Felt obligated to share my experience as so many reviews state how great they are but they did not help with my issue. No issues with seller, packaging, or shipping, just didn’t help with the problem I bought them for.

Many years ago due to chronic pain from injuries I bought the Teeter hang up (made with cloth). Now days I’ve seen where their made with rubber or plastic I believe. Might point is this, I loved the product so much around 15 years later I see the DEX II, and buy it immediately.

I’m a disabled vet with multiple spinal issues from injuries, plus having had low back surgery and a need for a couple in the neck. The DEX is easier on my back compared to the full inversion of the Teeter up.

Now I can partially invert my self and not have the weight of my entire body in the movement. On those really bad days I can even just use the machine like parallel bars, and get an even lighter form of traction.

I do this by locking out my elbows, and allowing my feet to dangle as I rise up through the shoulder’s. Which actually helps me to maintain strength in my shoulder that needs a total rebuild. I can’t really use the inversion support bars for push ups, it’s to wide for me personally due to my shoulder.

But I like using the bars just to hold onto for a stretch while bending over or for support during squats. I can’t say enough about this piece of equipment, just like my first Teeter product I love it.

Like my original Teeter product I purchased the DEX directly from Teeter. If you have back issues, this thing is great, just go slow find your pace and enjoy. It’s worth it.

My Teeter Dex II is an extremely well made and well designed piece of hardware. I’ve been using it about a month. I have suffered from lower back pain for many years. I have degenerated discs which allow the vertebrae in my lower back to curve out of vertical alignment.

The Dex II has definitely reduced my back pain. Hanging upside down makes me slightly dizzy and tends to upset my stomach a little but it is worth it. I started out using the DEX II about 1 minute at a time.

I have gradually increased that time to two minutes. I started out using the Dex II twice or three times per day. I am currently using it once per day for two minutes. I will definitely continue to use it as my back is currently feeling much better as a result of using the DexII.

I had a Back Revolution many years ago and regrettably sold it when I moved out of state. I was really happy to finally find this machine to replace it. It basically does all the same things. I have scoliosis and this gives me some much needed decompression of my spine.

I also love it to for the exercises I can do to strengthen my core. I would love to give this 5 stars except for two things that I have also seen mentioned in prior reviews. As a 5’2 female I have no problem getting into the hanging position but getting out of it is a bit difficult because the curled bars are too far away even when I have everything set at the shortest position.

I am on my tip toes and completely stretched out as I try to bring myself to the upright position. The second and worst problem that I have is that the pad is VERY uncomfortable. The groove in the pad is too hard along the curved edges and digs into me.

I use a folded towel to give me extra padding but I can still feel the hard edges. I am assuming this groove is for the mail anatomy. I wish there were a choice between a grooved and ungrooved pad. I never had this discomfort with my old Back Revolution which had a much softer pad.

Regardless, I am still very happy with the machine and the benefits that I achieve from it. Please let me know if you ever have a revised pad available.

For the price this is a good strap. I am using it to stretch my knee after total knee replacement surgery. It only gets used 3 times per day and it is sturdy enough for that. If you are conducting a yoga or pilates class and plan on using this multiple times per day it might not be sturdy enough.

Still, for the price I paid this is a good strap. It also arrived early.

We got these straps for our home yoga practice (I teach yoga) and they work perfectly. They are a bit lighter weight and not quite as wide as those in our yoga studio, but work very well. The price was an amazing value, as I shop around before I buy and these were a bargain.

Just $4. 21 delivered! Lots of color choices and black wasn’t the cheapest, but it seems like a good choice for our needs. I would recommend these and would buy them again.

This book is great for anyone who loves fitness or is trying to recover from injuries. The book includes many pictures showing specifically were the muscle are anchored and how to stretch them.

the author and illustrations are very clear and informative giving you just the facts allowing you to form your own conclusions about what is best for your personal goals.

I just started using my gazelle and saw results after my 1st use and each one thereafter. My rear is lifting and my body is slimming and firming in all the right places. I’m doing toning exercises too but I know the gazelle is slimming my legs down.

I will have a much appreciated thigh gap soon. You may need someone to help with assembly. I did it on my own with youtube videos. It is heavy to maneuver if you aren’t rolling it but we’ll worth the price for the results.

It’s so quiet and takes up minimal space. Everything Tony says is true. My only critiques are that I would like the positioning of the monitor to tilt upwards more and think it should come pre-assembled.

I am overall very satisfied. Thinking on people spending more money for all the machines out there when you can have this nice, quiet, effective, and easily affordable piece of equipment at home is beyond my understanding.

I bought the Gazelle in February, I needed exercise equipment that was low impact and for a low budget. OMG! I’m soooo glad I purchased this! I found my Fitbit in a drawer so I charged it up and since February 17th I have been averaging 11,000 steps a day just by getting in routine with using the gazelle everyday.

I’m a licensed massage therapist and acupuncturist so my back tends to hurt after long work days. However I have noticed by using the gazelle regularly my back is feeling so much better. I have even had clients want to use it just to help stretch their hips out.

Overall I’m very satisfied with my purchase and looking forward to a healthier body.

Twenty years, and a different lifetime ago, after a zillion miles, I had worn out my beloved Gazelle. Finally, just a month ago, I ordered the Gazelle Supreme. After two days of assembly, I’m again happily gliding.

A few details, which may preclude posting of this review: If desired, you have my full permission to edit these out: 1- The Right Cylinder arrived dented at the upper part of the frame. This may not ever make a difference, but it’s important to me that be on record.

2- The Left Footbed is damaged at the rear edge. Minor, but notable. 3- No Allen Bolts were found for the water bottle holder. 4- Double- and triple-checking, all in proper alignment, the Left Cylinder required being firmly coaxed to the right, in order to fit into the Cylinder Clip Cover and Pin.

I don’t know if, over time, this will make a difference in function, but once again, important to have on record. 5- The Monitor seems cheesy. The low-contrast read-out is challenging, and the slanted labels can be read, only up-close.

The unit could be larger, although I know that would be more costly for the company. Also, battery change, though infrequent, will be cumbersome, with the deep screw holes and the kinda flimsy, unstable case.

6- With my laptop not including a slot, and without a separate DVD Player, I am unable to use the three discs provided, so am not enjoying the benefits. How great it would be to have the convenience of downloading or streaming.

I wanted to order a BIG Size back massager, and I end up with a small size back roller. That’s not described in the descriptions. It’s a false advertisement on the photo size and not knowing big or small.

The good thing is that it still works but it’s a little bit harder to control. I would recommend to message the salesman before buying.

You want a better spine. Sleep painless again. Doctors will no fix your spine they will give you pills and burn nerve endings. My eyes are open! Shame on the medical community keeping me in pain so they can make money.

Works really well. Sturdy enough for a lot of weight to roll on it. A lot, meaning over 250 lb. Feels great when you roll over it as instructed

I have never used a roller to compare it to and found it very helpful. I have got it for the stiff hip flexors that were caused by piriformis syndrome. It is really painful and causes sciatica as well.

These rollers didn’t help with the exact piriformis pain but I have found a way for it to help and it did. First roll hip flexors, then the side hip muscles and thigh muscles. It immediately gives some relief with the tightness (it was always very very tight before I started rolling).

I will then do the strengthening exercises to activate my glute muscles. Overtime my piriformis muscle pain reduced that was going on for 4 months. I just have an injection today as well because the pain isn’t going away and I still have mobility issues but this sure did help calming those tight muscles.

Stop reading and buy this! If you’re reading this you’re might be wondering if foam rolling is right for you- YES- yes it is! I had back problems for years- desk job, working out here and there. This year I had my shoulder blade push a rib out of place (or some weird back thing that made it feel like Satan himself was residing in my core)- went to chiropractor who told me I had to come back 8 times.

Meanwhile, around the same time I had been amping up my workouts and felt so defeated that I had to stop. I figured foam rolling couldn’t hurt. It seriously has changed my life- not just saying that.

I had tried so many things and nothing helped the back pain. I roll my back once in the morning and once before bed- it cracks my back and rolls my sore muscles. I can’t recommend this enough! My quality of life has definitely improved!.

At my gym, we use foam rollers after workouts to massage and stretch the muscles. I wanted one for home since it’s also great for self massaging your back, legs, arms, etc, wherever you can reach with the roller on the floor! My gym uses these pro source ones so i bought the same thing.

They are stiff enough that they don’t lose shape and they don’t dent from your body weight. The styrofoam also doesn’t flake and peel so thats great. At my gym we wipe these down with the antibac wipes and those are still fine after being used and wiped multiple times a day.

At home I don’t really wipe it down. It doesn’t smell, and has a slightly shiny smooth surface. Good size and it rolls easily. Satisfied with my purchase!.

When you cant make it to exercise class, this is a great way to keep up your maintenance program for those of us sedentary types. Will have you stretching in ways you never have. Dont be fooled by the age of the class participants.

You can do these exercises, but they wont kill you and will make you stronger. After learning the routine I put on a cd with music I like while doi g the exercises.

I usually do 45 minutes of low-impact aerobics 6X/week. I had foot surgery but I want to maintain flexibility and muscle strength while I recuperate. I ordered this DVD set and the Stronger Seniors Pilates DVD.

I cant do the aerobics segment for a few weeks but these DVDs will help me physically and psychologically during the recuperation period.

Good exercises in the chair. Quick results. Soothing music and instructor boice. while you do it too. There’s a group you can watch and see their struggles too.

It is effective and easy to use (which helps me stick with doing the exercises), and I like that it is portable from times when I want to take it with me.

My only thought would be the size-it does take up more room then if it were just the rope itself if I was trying to compact in a suitcase, but know you could also take off the beads too.

But overall I’m very happy with it and love that it is adjustable. I’ve been using it everyday post run. It really gives you a great stretch.

I had an injury a few years ago and from time to time I suffer tendonitis, the product arrived to MEXICO on time and has helped me to relief and fortify my tendon. Great product, great manufacture.

I bought both the extra long regular and the short extra firm rollers. I use them daily for soft tissue foam rolling. I used to scoff at physical therapists, kinesiologists, and massage therapists when they told me how indispensable foam rolling was.

Then I discovered it for myself when I did the Thomas test and failed it on both sides. Despite lots of yoga and stretching, my psoas, hip flexors, and anterior leg muscles were still not mobile enough for me to progress in my squats.

And I’m pretty flexible and mobile in general! After a week of sessions using both of my RumbleRollers, I have more mobility than months of stretching gave me, and my squat is unstuck and finally progressing at a good rate.

The other body parts that I regularly foam roll are the thoracic spine and shoulder capsule/rotator cuff muscles. These are very important for progressing in presses and squats, as well. These RumbleRollers ended up turning out to be the best investments in my home gym.

This is the only foam roller I will even bother rolling on. This design and durability is nothing short of perfection. I have 2, one for home and one for travel. I’ve had the same one for 6 years and it has zero signs of wear anywhere after 6 years daily use.

This Rumble Roller is truly amazing! My first day with it used it up against the wall so it wouldnt hurt so much as everyone said and imedietly my back cracked in a good healthy way and I felt such relief! Then I used it on my bed laying onto it and yeah it hurt a little laying down on it but when you suffer chronic back pain from a buldging disc or sciatica or severe spinal stenosis like my Husband then a little pain feels good when it leads to pressure relief from trigger points.

It worked the same for my Husband we both Love it and will use it everyday, its our best friend. Especially when you get up from a session with it you feel incredible! Its like a sigh of relief and having a new body in better alignment after having the massage of the rumbles on the roller.

Oh my is it ever worth the price! My Phsyical Therapist is all about it for us because he knows it works! Get one! A little pain is worth the amazing relief and invigoration you feel and Im sure we will adjust to this just fine! So if your considering, dont be afraid its truly a great massage roller.

It snaps you spine back in place and causes allot of pain when it happens.

If you love bees, I’d recommend these battery operated lights. LEDs lights, so they last a long time. Not sure how long. Hang them on a Christmas tree, window, patio. I bought 3 sets for a 5′ Christmas tree that doesn’t have any lights.

All my ornaments on the tree are bee related. I’m a beekeeper and love these lights.

I use this to pop and stretch my back. I’m pretty limber, but not great at yoga or very strong in yoga poses, but I’m slowly working up to it. anyway, this very nice yoga prop, I just loved the look of and I want to get to where I can use it more for yoga than stretching, but I also had a feeling that this could really help my back.

It does and I hope I never can’t use it! Bonus, I’m working muscles in my legs as I roll back and forth stretching my back and rubbing out cramps in my lower back!.

I took a chance on this product primarily because it was Uncommon Goods. I’m used to their product quality and knew the product had to be vetted or they wouldn’t offer it. However, I had no idea how it worked or what my daughter would think of it.

When she saw it, she was captivated by its design and construction. After she used it asked her if she liked it. She told me that you needed to know how to use the wheel so that you didn’t put unnecessary strain on your back muscles but if you followed the supplied instructions you would be fine.

Within a few days she had mastered the wheel and told me she loved it.

UNI -stretch makes a great underbody color and material. Make sure to check out Togens great selection of fly fishing materials and videos.

A friend of mine recommended this to me. Great for tying smaller butts and some tags on Steelhead and Salmon flies. So far, it has held up better then floss and does a better job covering the hook. Haven’t tried it for thread bodies yet but it should work good.

Wish Cabelas carried more colors, like Green, Chinese Red and Bright Yellow, (Hint Hint).

Great for chironomids. beautiful tapering qualities and when coated with the RaidZap UV coating they look absolutely beautiful. even down to size #18’s Doesn’t break as easily as 70 denier thread and you can still build a reasonably thin body.
