20 Best High Ankle Sprain Brace (2023 Updated)

I got this brace 7 weeks after fracturing my ankle in anticipation of an upcoming backpacking trip. All other braces I had tried were very uncomfortable in my hiking boots and the plastic supports always pushed up against my injured ankle causing some pain.

This brace was the exact opposite of all the others. The hard supportive plastic is on the outside of the brace and it is cushioned on the inside. I backpacked 55 miles wearing this brace and it got me through some rough terrain.

Highly recommend this brace for recovering from an ankle injury and still being able to be active.

I bought this brace because I had broken my ankle about a year and half ago. In the process I sprained it as well and it has never been the same. I bought this brace to wear while working out and sometimes sleep in.

I have tried others that were cheaper but they did not offer the support that this one provides. Even though it is the most expensive on the market, it’s worth paying the extra money for comfort. I can barely tell I’m wearing it.

It comes with two extra pads with Velcro. I only used one and put it on the back because I could feel a piece of the plastic rub. It solved the problem and again, I can barely tell I’m wearing anything.

I would recommend going into the store and trying on a few sizes. I wear a size 10 shoe and bought the medium.

Rule #1 do not wear this with an ankle sock or no show sock! it will ITCH LIKE CRAZY. Crew sock works best for me, and I wear my right one all day at work and no problem at all. At first I was hesitant about buying these.

One was the price and two was it didn’t feel like I was getting much support, so at first I walked away. Then I kept on doing research on best ankle braces made and these kept coming up. Then I started to compare prices between Dicks and Amazon because I knew I had to get something soon.

As I’m looking on Amazon, I notice they have a little video about the Zamst ankle brace, so I watched it. The video was about how to put it on! lol After I watched the video I realized I was putting it on wrong, so I went back to the store and put it on like the video said and it fit perfect and I bought 2.

Now the big test. how do they fit in a shoe. When I got home I tried them on with my basketball shoes. I loosened may laces up all the way to allow for extra room and they fit tight. I walked around the house for a bit and it felt good and I could tell, my ankles weren’t going anywhere.

Now the big test. I wore them in a game last night. Within the first 5 minutes I had to come out because I was cutting the circulation off my foot but it was my fault. I had the straps to tight. I loosened them up and no problems for the rest of the game.

Having both my ankle basically shot and still wanting to play ball these are a good investment. see pics on how they will look in a shoe.

This is exactly what I need. I bought one of these the first time I placed an order & am very happy with it; it does precisely what I need it to do. Now when I throw one in the laundry to be washed, I have a second one to wear until I have time to wash my dirty laundry.

My son has suffered from a reoccurring ankle injury for a few years now. This has been better than ANY over priced brace we have received from doctors or therapists.

I’ve been working at Home Depot for the last 2. 5 years and it’s really been taking a toll on my body. I hadn’t heard about incrediwear until I learned about the company from this year’s Optima since I recently got certified as a group fitness instructor through AFAA.

I twisted my ankle coming down a ladder during work one night and though it really didn’t hurt that much, my ankle hasn’t been the same since. My heels and ankles have been really hurting and have been swollen over the past few months and I knew I needed to find something for relief so I thought I would give the ankle sleeves a try.

I was surprised at how fast they started working on healing my feet right away. After the first time I wore them to bed, I could finally get up and on my feet without it being very painful to stand. The size I ordered for me just right too.

This product is amazing and I hope that other people can find relief like I did.

Bought this for my mom for christmas. She wore it for a while and then when I asked how she liked it she said it “was okay”. I was kind of disappointed because I wanted her pain to get better, and thought this “magic science fabric” would help.

I then had some pain in my ankle and thought I’d give it a try to see if it would help. The ankle sleeve never felt like it fit snug, even after washing. I bought the smallest size and did measurements, still no true compression.

I also wore it for almost a week and felt absolutely NO difference. I’m sure it works for some people, but it seems like a placebo effect. I did not feel the effects and am pretty disappointed, especially because I thought this would be a great gift for my mom.

I wish I could explain how this works, but I can’t. What I can say is that the day I started wearing this to relieve plantar fasciitis pain, the pain was almost immediately diminished. Within a few days my pain was gone.

I bought some for family that had plantar pain and the results were the same as mine. Everyone is experiencing pain relief. Great product. You do have to get used to the odd feeling like your sock is bunched up in your shoe because it only goes about half way down your foot.

It’s an odd feeling but you get used to it after a few days. Highly recommend!!! Well worth the investment, I’ve tried several different sleeves and braces but this is the only one I’ve found that actually works.

I had surgery for pttd and foot is sti turning inward with orthotic in shoe. Also hard to find a shoe for orthotic to fit in so the brace works well and I can normal shoes with the support I need. Very easy to put on.

2ndone first one lasted over 7 years i hike a lot and have bad ankles this has made my life wonderful to be able to hike again after broken ankle and 2 knee replacements

Purchased 2 of the ankle braces because my daughter is prone to sprained ankles. Someone from a volleyball group suggested this product as it helps to stabilize the ankle. In the beginning it was a bit of struggle for my daughter as she found the insole wasn’t very thick.

We replaced the insoles and she keeps the ankle braces in her volleyball shoes so it’s easier for her to put on and take off.

My daughter has gotten more confident with jumping and spiking the ball. As a result her ankles have been hurting. These were the only braces we could try on before we bought them. They’ve protected my daughter’s ankles and I’m no longer worried she is going to hurt herself when spiking the ball.

Bought this a month ago for my daughter who plays soccer. She was worried it would be too bulky for her soccer cleats but it is actually working out very well. Giving her supports and easy to put on!

I found that the explanation of the size of the brace was accurate as I ordered two different sizes as my left ankle swells, requiring a larger fit. When they arrived, the medium fit my right side and the large my left side perfectly.

I have trouble with my ankles rolling when I walk in my yard or garden on uneven surfaces. These braces did not have the firmness to fully stop the rolling when I became fatigued, but they definitely made a noticeable difference and improvement about 85% of the time for me.

I am pleased with the purchase and would recommend them if you have weak ankles and need light to moderate support.

Easy to use. Good quality and design. I was just out of a boot for a broken ankle and needed this as a transition from rigid immobilization to full range of motion and unsupported weight bearing. It’s doing the job well.

The lace-up ankle brace has provided good support as I heal from a bout with peroneal tendonitis. Fits comfortably in my athletic shoe. Be aware that if your measurement falls in between the recommended size of brace, to order the bigger size.

I was on the fence as whether I should order a medium or large brace, and ordered the medium which ended up being too snug and returned it. return process is easy.

I purchased this product about a month ago and it’s gone from bad to worse. After just a few days of playing sports in the brace all it has done is fall apart. The stitching decayed more and more everyday and completely fell apart within a week and has absolutely no support after that week.

Product is definitely not worth your time or money, there are plenty of other companies that will give you a much better bang for your buck than this company.

This is the best compared foot brace I could find when looking for an “Arizona” brace that was recommended by my orthopedic doctor. This brace is good and very supportive. It does fit inside of my regular sneaker without any problems.

I have not tried it in a pair of shoes yet.

As a parkour athlete with weaker ankles than most, these braces have been the best for me out of all the braces I have tried, and they are reasonably priced. No fuss, just solid protection, and have served me very well.

Definitely need to update your braces regularly though, after a 1. 5-2 years, the springs in the brace lose their rigidity, and your left with what’s essentially a slipper. They could also have a little more padding for the tops of the tarsals and around the back at the top, as they can kinda cut into your feet and become uncomfortable if you tighten them up super snug.

This can be remedied with thick socks and moleskin pads, but if you’re throwing down $60 for a pair, you’d expect them to be a little more comfortable. Definitely not a bare-foot brace by any means, but with that said, for all other activities, it does what it says it’ll do for a decent amount of time, and is among the most comfortable AND supportive braces I’ve used to date.

I carefully followed the measurement/sizing instructions after purchasing a different ankle brace from a different shop. I believe I purchased the correct size for my narrow ankle/skinny foot. This brace appeared to fit very well and provided the support I needed for a LENGTHY day of hiking in Iceland.

HOWEVER, when I took it off at the end of the day, I was concerned at the lines it created on my foot and calf and how red they were. It worried me that I might have been restricting the blood flow to/from my foot.

Did I create blood clots?? Who knows. While it provided the necessary support I needed while hiking, I was hoping to use this when I run after returning home. Now I am not convinced that is a good idea.

Had the product not created these lines/indents in my skin and the accompanying concerns about using it, I would have rated it 5 stars.

I recently fell and ended up with a bad sprain to my ankle. I was wearing a heavier ankle brace and tennis shoes for quite awhile just to be comfortable. Looking at lighter ankle braces that would protect my ankle and allow me to wear boots and regular shoes without having the shoe rub my ankle, I saw this one and based upon the reviews decided to give it a try.

I tried a wrap brace but had dismal luck getting it wrapped properly. This brace is great as it slips right on and fits snugly. It feels really good when I wear it and makes my ankle feel protected. I can comfortably wear regular shoes and boots.

I did notice the seam on the bottom that another reviewer commented on but after wearing the brace for awhile, did not notice it any more. I keep it handy as I am still nervous about wearing boots without it.

It fits fine in shoes and doesnt add bulk. For reference, I wear ladies size 8 1/2 regular width shoes and I ordered a size medium ankle brace.

I have fallen arches and SUFFER, even needing med’s to have some sort of quality of life. These ankle ankle are AMAZING! They don’t “pull” against my foot/arches like other styles, rather they “grip” and “hold” them securely, giving me superb arch support with no laces.

I wear them over my socks and they take about 8 seconds each to put on. The fabric is soft, yet strong. I have TWO pairs of $500 shoe inserts (custom made) and they do NOTHING for my arches compared to these braces.

I hope they make them in white some day! I liked mine so much that I bought a second for my other foot. You CAN’T BEAT the price! I have my life back! I can go for HOURS more on my feet now. Shipping was super fast and included clear instructions.

I love the feeling like someone is holding my feet in a firm hug. I wear a women’s 8. 5 and there’s plenty more room for bigger feet but they do wrap snug for me. I recommend! You won’t be sorry. My teenage son uses and approves of this product. He plays basketball and it really helps with stability without hindering movement.

Purchased the XL size for a 12 1/2 sized foot. The fit is perfect, and so is the feel; grips well. I experienced some Achilles tendinitis from playing tennis, and that has been niggling at me for some time now.

My doctor suggested I get some tall lace up boots and wear them for about two months (off and on, I think) to see if that would clear up the issue. Luckily I saw the pro tennis players wearing these braces during play, and I decided to try it for my issue.

It has greatly helped my condition just from wearing them for a short while (about three weeks), and I don’t have to worry about going to bed with boots on. I suspect if I continue to wear them I could get back on the tennis court soon using this brace as I play.

They fit comfortably in all the shoes I wear (boots as well), not adding any extra bulk.

My husband uses this ankle brace twice a week for soccer – in fact he just received the second one that he ordered because he was so impressed. We had done some online research to ensure we were getting him the best possible item specifically for playing soccer – because this brace had been so highly recommended we decided to give it a try.

It’s a good brace. Not very flexible and that’s needed for use in sports and other games. It takes a while to put on. For daily use, or just an ankle sprain, there are other braces that I think are better.

The prices are about the same on both. The quality on both are outstanding.

Well. To be honest with you I think you provide a very good service. And I got my order within days of ordering. But here’s my rub. Small Medium and Large Are not foot sizes. I am an 8 shoe. Admittedly I ordered Large to start with which was way to big.

So I decided to spend money and get medium which to be far is not to bad but it still feels and looks wrong. So am I to spend more money and expect get the right size With Small. Well maybe or do I just persevere with medium I am not 100% convinced.

It’s an outstanding brace and would absolutely be what was needed; however, the sizing is off. A 9. 0-9. 5 is too small. I have an ankle that needs to be replaced and am trying to avoid as long as possible.

Your magnificent brace could help with that only it’s too small – the ankle bracing isn’t far enough apart – each needs to be “set back” further so as to accommodate the ankle. I’m tired of having to return braces because they are not sized correctly.

My wife is recovering from a broken distal fibula. I ordered the brace as a transition from her cast/boot to shoes. The lateral stability is great but the brace rubs on her proximal fifth metatarsal laterally and her navicular tuberosity medially.

According to the size chart we have the correct size. I’m recommending additional padding in these areas or a brace modification in these areas.

After a compound complex fracture to my left ankle and tibia almost a year ago from a mtb accident, I haven’t been able to do the things I love. Some of it’s fear and some of it is pain. I recently started skating again now that my son is getting into it, but the orthopedic brace I was given was to restricting and made pumping in a bowl extremely difficult.

So I decided to give OBT ankle braces a go. These things rock!! I ordered a size smaller for support. They allow me to skate for 90 minutes before I start to feel fatigued. Plenty of bails and run outs and so far so good.

I have good ankle mobility without feeling restricted and I’m not in pain when I take them off. Great product that has helped get my confidence back while still feeling protected. These have definitely helped keep me ruling!.

I’ve had a bad ankle since the mid 90’s from skating Knob Hill in North County San Diego and running from the cops jumping fences. Somewhere around 2006 I was living & working in Hollywood. I would skate my longboard to work several blocks away.

Some jerk blew a stop sign to try and beat traffic, cut me off and when I jumped off my board I strained my Achilles! It flares up during strenuous activity. With my Old Bones Ankle Compression Sleeve I never feel that flare up.

I recently developed some (old man) issues with inflammation in some joints, knees and ankle specifically. I purchased an ankle sleeve along with knee sleeves for compression therapy. The ankle sleeve is fantastic for use at the gym and as a therapy tool.

My only minor issue is that due to the padding, it doesn’t play well with my hockey skates. If the padding was removable they would fit better. It’s not a huge issue as I just use it for recovery after games.

I’d definitely recommend OBT products for anyone needing them. Best compression products out there.

I have been suffering with achilles tendonitis for several weeks, so thought I’d try this. The relief, when I first put it on, was instantaneous! After about an hour, I realised that I should have followed the advice in the product description, and actually measured my ankle, as it started to feel too tight.

I have now reordered in the correct size. Very, very pleased with this purchase.

Quality product. Supports my foot well. Dries quickly after washing. Would recommend.

Provides good stability for a wrist strain/sprain. Limits movement by preventing wrist from accidental painful twisting/ turning. My husband was excited to try this because he recently strained his wrist while pruning some trees in our back yard.

It took some experimentation to figure out the correct way to apply the brace on his left hand. Instructions on the box demonstrate how slight splint modifications facilitate right or left hand use. Once on, he proceeded to complete several tasks while wearing the brace and thought it served its purpose by keeping his sore wrist from further injury.

Several days later, I readjusted the splint to use on my righthand wrist because I had some reports to type on my laptop. The wrist support made my typing activity much more comfortable. By the way, my wrist is very small and my husband’s is large but it was no problem adjusting the support to fit either one of us.

The Curad Ironman knee support is the best knee support I’ve tried. The knit on the support is different that others I’ve used. I think the knit is more tightly woven, it just looks and feels different.

This knee brace has silicone on the top and the bottom, my others don’t. The brace stays in place whiling moving and I don’t find myself pulling it up all the time. The infrared technology hold the body heat, while creating circulation and increasing targeted area blood flow.

The compression then helps with the swelling. The knee brace feels comfortable while I’m wearing it. I’ve walked around a big open air market, shopping, big warehouse store and my knee felt supported and snug.

I feel like my knee isn’t bound, it feels easy and comforting while being supportive. I just prefer this knee brace and it is now my go to. I would recommend.

Having carpal tunnel and typing all day at work can be painful so I am always looking for a good wrist brace. I do like this curad one. It is lightweight, breathable and easy to use. The material is soft and does not bother my skin or cause me to sweat.

The fabric is stretchable and forms to my wrist and hand. I also like that it can be used as on the left or right hand, just pull the bar out and reverse it, put it back in and done. The bar is not easy to get in and the little hood that goes over the top can be a bit of a pain, but it stays in place and that is important.

I can still type and use the mouse with no issues when I have this on. I feel it is medium support and that is all I need.

IšverstiShow in original languageFifty years in the service industry takes its toll on the body, especially your feet. At 70, I have degenerative arthritis in my left foot where lateral movement is very painful.

Bone fusion surgery is out of the question. I decided to try the McDavid ankle brace, Model 195. Very similar to a custom orthopedic brace I tryed about 5 years ago, at a much more reasonable price. Slips over your foot/ankle, laces up, has two nylon straps that cross over one another with velcro closure, and a top strap.

Support is excellent. Provides for normal up and down movement of the ankle while preventing lateral movement in the foot. Much less pain! Since I have a wide foot, my shoes are 4E width which allows for a comfortable interface between shoe and brace.

Easy to adjust, excellent durability, Keeps me on my feet for work and play.

IšverstiShow in original languageRecovering from a small lateral ankle fracture, I wanted some support after coming out of a moonboot and walking on it for the first time after 6 weeks or so. I also tried the lace-up Shock Doctor 849 but returned it immediately as I found it provided no real lateral support at all.

This was by far the more supportive brace of the two with a sturdier canvas-like material (vs mesh on the 849) with adjustable lateral support with the straps. I also found it a lot easier to get on and off because the laces are much longer and you don’t need to re-thread them every time.

They fit in my runners and day-sneakers fine (the majority of the bulk is around the ankle and less the foot, but you may struggle in already tight or form-fitting shoes), and while I haven’t started back on sports yet (martial arts), I think they’ll give me enough confidence and help prevent further injury.

It’s very similar in style to the highly recommended ASO brace, but at a lower price. There are a few small cons: pulling the straps up tight can reach further than the brace, which can cause chafing against the skin if you don’t have socks pulled up past that point, and they are a little bulky but if you want maximum support I don’t think you’ll get much better than this.

It has once gotten a bit achy after I wore it two hours sitting during a meeting with minimal movement (either continuous pressing against a sore spot or from being too tight), but after a small break without it and then putting it back on it was fine.

At this stage I’d recommend it for support and recovery for sure, and once I start back on sports I’d like to review it again. I’d make sure you measure as per the McDavid instructions for the best size.

IšverstiShow in original languageThis company was making very good quality braces and i have used it. Recently they changed the material of the strap and it is getting damaged/tear easily without much usage.

I bought 2 in last one year and both broken. But the same product i bought couple of years before still got strong straps but that is unusable beacse of the age. Quality gone down , may be business tactics as customer has to buy more.

I bought braces for both ankles — I have serious weakness in both ankles and somewhat deformed feet as a result of polio as a child. I’m 78 ysr old, and have tried numerous braces. The Vive braces fit properly, are soft and very supportive.

I wear the braces all day every day. The only negative is their bulk. You do need enough room in your shoes to deal with the brace and be able to lace your shoe. For a normal foot and ankle this might be no problem — it is only a minor problem for me.

I recommend these braces –at least give them a try if you have problems with other ankle supports.

I have a broken foot toes and ankles that are beginning to morph. They will ever heal and theres no surgery that can be done. I am always grasping at straws. By alternating braces daily the pain has become 100% less, the limp is almost gone and the morphing is beginning to show signs of change.

I broke my ankle when I was 8 1/2 months pregnant and the ankle could not be set straight. I was fine until a few years into retirement, but then I didn’t wear high heels every daylike I did when I was working.

So that is when the pain began. I have tried many types of support over the years but this mild compression is very helpful and elevates much of my pain. I wear the ankle support sleeve around the house when I am cleaning and also when I need to do a lot of walking.

It is excellent for my needs and I highly recommend it.

It did work, (I think). The product is extremely sticky. I had to scrub very hard to get the glue off. When you have an injury you don’t want to have to scrub the injured area too hard.

With a sprained foot/ankle, the support sleeve was just what I needed to ease pain when walking. I am an active senior and this is just what I needed to wear for all daytime activities.

Still getting used to the Ortho Bracing which my PT recommended; trying not to wear it all of the time so my ankle can grow stronger on its own. Today is the first 6″ of snow, so I am figuring out whether I can fit my ankle with the new brace inside a loosened boot.

This is just like the one a Doctor had given me that I wore until it was barely ha going on! I could have gotten a large but, Medium is working fine. Great help with supporting and maintaining toes up during sleep hours and supports ankle if sore during day.
