20 Best Heavy Duty Shepherds Hook (2023 Updated)

These are just ok. When first screwing them together you could see that they were not real straight when screwed all the way in. Not a big deal, but on to the next gripe. The base design is horrible.

It’s a stake with a hole in the middle for the rod. When you put a lantern or anything with any weight on the hook, it spins. This makes it very difficult to get your yard looking right.

The product is great. Nice and strong. No cheap stuff. My only complain is I bought the hooks because I need it for a sweet 15 I am having. The description says 12 and I only received 4. Luckily I had enough time to buy some more.

These aren’t good for bird feeders – they’re too weak and not tall enough. Only good for lights or other light-weight objects.

Needed for wedding reception and was very impressed with what I received. I felt it was priced according to what I would pay and probably would have paid more for a product that was less inferior to this one.

Very happy and would recommend to friends and family. Consumers just need to be aware if they read properly that Solar lights are not included. Wasn’t expecting them, just wanted hooks which were perfect.

Required some assembly, each shepherd hook came in 4 metal pieces with screws and a plastic spade at the bottom that had to be individually assembled, was not one big solid piece like I was expecting.

Overall, these weren’t quite what I was expecting but seem to be sturdy enough to get the job done nonetheless. Have not used them yet but don’t seem terribly flimsy.

these hooks were just what I needed to create my holiday display. I have old “candy cane” poles that crack when trying to put them up. the hooks make ti possible to still use the old poles.

Actually, it’s too early to tell. the item is currently installed holding up 3 ladders. If it is still holding those ladders up a year from now, then it was a good deal. If the metal fatigues and they fall, then it’s not a good deal.

The hooks are well made and seem very durable. The large and medium are very useful, the small one was smaller than I expected. I use them in my RV storage are to keep walking sticks, brooms, and mops out of the way.

I could have made some to accomplish what i needed . I would not have saved any money and would have wasted a bunch of time . They are made well and will do just what i need .

I really appreciate this fireplace poker, that it is one piece–nothing to unscrew while wrangling a burning log. We’ve had and used it for a year now and no paint has worn off yet–like our other one.

The handle shape nicely stabilizes quick twists and turns. The 28″ length is good to minimize how hot your hand and/or glove gets while tending a hot fire. My only wish might be that the 26″ version was offered as a single tool also to use in conjunction with our 28″.

My arms are shorter and I have to hold it back so far– a bit unwieldy at times. Great product over all, and Great Company. Thanks!.

These are perfect for hanging on the deck railings. I had to be creative as to how I attached them without holders so I used 2- 5/16 cable clamps for each hook and they worked perfectly. They are tightly secured and my deck lights look great.

Fantastic quality. I have several shepherds hooks, and out of all of them, this one is the best quality by far. It is sturdy, and heavy. It does not sway in the wind. Assembly is easy. It comes in 3 pieces.

The pole has the 2 tallest hooks attached to it as 1 piece. The 2 hooks that sit perpendicular to those slide into sockets that are molded into the pole. They do not wobble at all. Very solid. If I didnt already have so many shepherds hooks, I’d buy another one of these.

I needed a four-sided hook for my lighter weight feeders, and this was a great choice. The only negative was that the center post is large and square, which made it more difficult to shove into the ground.

I ended up using a large, heavy screwdriver to make make several closely spaced pilot holes to approximate the size of the center post, and then I was able to drive in the post. I had to use a heavy contractor’s pry bar to pound it in the last couple of inches to get it through our heavy clay soil.

This is a beautiful and functional awesome looking hook. It went into the ground easy. Looks great. Holds 3 hanging planters and I have the gardman solar galaxy light on the other hook. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS and the price was best around!.

The condition of the “”powder coating”” on the shepherds hook was totally unacceptable. I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THIS PARTICULAR ONE FROM A STORE. The curved portion at the top of the hook had NO powder coating left.

ONLY BARE METAL that less than one week outside is rusting. It looks like someone beat it on concrete for hours to ruin the finish. In addition to that, the size I ordered and paid for was wrong, its TOO SHORT.

The packaging was totally inadequate. There was NO padding. The item wa wrapped in shrink wrap. NO PADDING. I paid $27. 00 shipping. I couldn’t locate the hook locally. Ok. I wanted the item. I NEVER thought I would be shipped the wrong size item that would be totally unacceptable because of the defective condition.

The extra adornment of birds is a nice change from just the plain Shepherd’s Hook. It looks great in our selected display spot for a hanging pot of flowers. It was easy to order and pick up at the nearby TSC store.

If I was to improve on the item it would be to step up the diameter of the supporting rod a little, for it bows a little under the weight of a full hanging flower pot.

There is nothing to dislike about this Bird Shepherd Hook. It looks exactly as it appears on line. Because I ordered it later than intended, as well as, having to be isolated due to the flu, I will not be using it this year.

I plan on having it placed in the ground on the side of a raised redwood deck so the hook will be over the deck and a flower basket will hang onto the deck. I almost did not order because of the S.

Cute little hook. I used it to hand a light birdhouse. This does not have a stabilizer at the base so you either want to sink it pretty far into the ground, or make sure you are not hanging anything heavy.

I woul d not use this to hang any potted plants as they will be too heavy, especially after you water them. I’d be afraid they would start to tip over.

You would think it would be easy to find a shepherds hook WITHOUT a base, but after searching online, and going in a dozen or so other stores, I could find no plain shepherds hooks! Or they come part of a kit or mount or were very overpriced.

A lot of the lower ratings here complain that this does not come with a base for extra stability, but I’m just thanking my lucky stars for it. If you’re looking for a hook with a base they are effortless to find literally ANYWHERE else, but not this.

I’m thankful I finally found it for my porch mount. Also very nicely made and smooth to the touch, not chalky.

I purchased two of these hooks to use in an outdoor wedding. They will hold a sign closing off the bridal aisle while people are seated. The sign, I made from a board that I , also, bought at Michael’s.

The sign reads, “ Our Happily Forever After Starts Here”. The hooks were the perfect rustic choice to hold my sign.

This hanging hook is great–very well made. Will hold a heavy flower pot as the stake that goes into the ground is longer than any I’ve seen. Plus the scroll at the top is a little more ornate than what most hooks offer.

I was concerned about it blowing over in the strong winds we get here in the desert. Upon opening the box I was pleased with the heavy base and the beautiful design. The overall quality is superior. Zero complaints and an excellent price.

I bought these to use on my back porch to hang some house plants. Have only used them for few days but love them so far. Don’t know how they will hold up long term. Hopefully they last a very long time.

Will likely move them inside over the winter.

Ths stand is definitely made for something very light weight, like a paper lantern. It tips over if you have anything heavy on it. Whatever you hang on it is not over the center of gravity, but rather several inches from the center of gravity, so it can’t weigh much.

Unfortunately, I want to use it to hang something with a bit of weight to it. Now I’m trying to figure out if I can get the hanging point over the center of gravity by using a conduit bender to bend the pole.

On second thought, maybe I should just send it back. It is nice for a paper lantern though.

I have a high closet with a lower and upper clothes rack. The upper one I use to store out of season clothes and always have trouble getting the clothes hangers on the rack. This solves the problem nicely and points to something I love about Zulily.

I recently purchased the hook pictured above. My only regrets is that I did not think of it long time ago! I have had total knee replacement on both knees and also extensive back surgery which has affected my sense of balance.

My clothes closet was adjusted so my blouses and shirts could be hung on the top portion and my slacks on the lower portion of my closet. The top pole is high enough that it is not accessible while standing on the floor.

In the past, I have been stepping up on a step stool to retrieve my blouses. To prevent a fall and make the clothes reachable, I purchased a hook. I am very pleased with all aspects of this reaching aid and recommend it highly.

I purchased several of the 84 inch shepard’s hooks. They support tall deer netting. I also use them for hanging bird feeders. Nice price and quality.

I loved hearing the sound of my large chimes, so when I moved from a house with a yard to an apartment without a yard or patio I tried this out. It’s more practical and works great for me! I have it sitting in front of one of my lower windows and get to enjoy the sound of the chimes when the breeze blows in.

I received a set of large chimes as a gift and needed a stand – I wanted to be able to easily bring them inside when the weather turns bad. I wanted something basic to not detract from the chimes, and didn’t want to spend a lot of money.

I read the reviews for the product and debated buying it or not, but I went for it and am glad I did – it’s perfect! The chimes are a good size but the stand holds them very well, and I’ve not seen any indication of it tipping over.

Seemed sturdy and based on other reviews tried it. BUT using only moderate pressure in soft ground the stabalizing foot snapped off. I did not exchange just returned it.

I live in an apartment. Son got me two hanging baskets for Mothers day. had to figure a way to hang them. So got two 64″ shepherds hooks, used electric ties to tie them to the balcony spindles and wella, hanging baskets.

A good, solid shepherd’s hook to hold bird feeders and such. I was concerned about its strength because I was installing it in semi-frozen ground. I drilled small pilot holes for the rods and it went in just fine, with no bending.

Then I hung a large, heavy (full of seed) feeder on it, and it stayed strong. This was a very good value for a quality shepherd’s hook!.

The royal wing 68 inch Homeland shepherd hook in bronze is a nice neutral color and heavy duty. Just the height fir hanging my feeders. Would recommend and a good price for a heavy duty product.

The item was not on the selling floor SO we were directed to the computer and had to order on line. Then we had to wait for order confirmation. Waited 15 minutes even though employees knew exactly where item was located in back of store.

I bought 2 of these. One for a steel target and one for a hanging plant. Both objects weigh about 15 pounds. This shepard’s hook is great. Holds everything upright when supports are fully in the ground.

They hold objects even in 15 mph wind. Want to buy 2 more.

These work amazingly well for hanging steel gongs quickly and easily. They are perfect for going out for a day of target shooting. However, if you are looking for something to put permanently in your backyard, these are probably a bit too delicate.

I would suggest buying extra and assume that these will be consumable items (just like ammunition) that need to be replaced periodically as you shoot through them. This is just like any target hanging system.

They all eventually will fail when you shoot through them.

Its a simple and effective way to hang plates. One of my 3 only lasted one outing. Guess a round hit right in the hole it was hanging from and broke the hanger loop right off. It was a 5. 56 round at approximately 150 yards so I guess it was a magic shot! Pretty disappointed it couldn’t take a hit! Oh well it’s cheap so I’ll order another.

It says to use a 5/16 inch drill bit for pilot holes. I used that size the first time. The hook screwed in to easy and did not feel like it was gripping the wood good. I went down one size on the drill bit and it holds a lot better.

I needed a way to store my weedeater and pole chainsaw. During a recent visit to my local Harbor Freight I spotted these hooks. I thought they may be the ticket to my task of storing my tools. I predrilled the holes, then screwed them in the walls of my work building.

I was concerned that the opening of the hooks were not wide or long enough for the gas motors of the weed eater and chainsaw. I was pleasantly surprised that both tools fit in the opening and are very secure.

I am happy with my purchase.
