20 Best Healthy Treats For Cats (2023 Updated)

The first thing my cat did was thoroughly investigate the scent of this new treat. She was unsure at first since it smelled different than her regular treats. It has ingredients she had not tried before like blueberries and flaxseed.

As soon as I was able to entice her to try it, she gobbled them up like she hadn’t eaten in days. I felt good knowing she was getting a treat with wholesome ingredients and more nutritional value than her typical treats.

What I really love about these tiny treats is that they’re not messy and don’t leave any crumbs. They are crispy and crunchy treats that are perfect for showing your cat a little love throughout the day.

A crowd favorite at my house, all the kitties love these. Handing out any flavor of the Fruitables treats will create a scene of patience and tranquility amongst my cats, with them sitting around me about a foot apart, no one trying to steal treats, each waiting politely for their turn.

Before my semi-feral passed away (heart related), she would come in for food/treats, pets, and a little playtime but my senior hated her and made it known so she would go back outside. However, if the Fruitables were out, there was no pissyhissyBS, just sweet kitties wanting treats.

(I have to mention how respectful Darla was of Merlin’s space: at the sight or sound of him she would go out onto the porch and wait for me to come out; she really wanted no drama, just love).

My cat never meows, EVER! Since she has tasted these, when she hears the little bag open, she flys into the kitchen and meows. I had to get a snap canister so she wouldn’t here me making her meals before they are ready.

Each meal, she use to get 2. She gets bored with food after a while but adding these keeps her happy. I was concerned about the ash content but i couldn’t find the info on it. I emailed Blue Buffalo and they said if ash isn’t listed, it’s not high enough to list.

Ugh! Not very helpful. So i called Cornell University and they said. If ash is not listed, think of it as 1. 5 for wet and 7 for dry, never assume it’s not there. I hate assuming but judging the treats by this hypothetical.

We need to find new treats! Our baby is advised to stay under 2. 5 ash because she is showing signs of possible kidney and bladder issues. Back to our Vet’s suggestion of tiny tastes of natural meats or deli meat for temptations to make her meals special.

I stopped buying cat treats from the store awhile ago because my kitties were getting very big (obese) and that is just not good on old bones. I saw these and thought I would try them, maybe they won’t be as caloric.

Well My older cats love them and will ask for their treat every morning. My two younger cats (we call them kittens) won’t touch either flavor I purchased. Its just them, they never have had a treat and seem to just like their hard food.

I can’t complain. I would definitely recommend this to other kitty owners. I think the price is good and as I said 2 of my cats love them, the kittens just think its something to smack around lol.

I’ve got 3 cats. I bought the smaller bag of these because they’re grain free, thinking they would be healthier for my cats. The problem is my cats will not touch them. So, I tried with the neighbors two cats that visit us.

They won’t touch them. So — and I know you’re not supposed to do this, but out of curiosity tried them with the local wildlife. The raccoon that comes through my yard, that will eat all sorts of nasty food out of my trash cans, will not eat these treats (he works the lids off somehow).

5 cats and 1 raccoon tell me that Blue needs to rethink the formula with these treats.

I bought these as a sort of enrichment to my cat’s regular feeding. I figured the new taste and texture may help drum things up a bit more that just the same old pate or kibble, without being too crazy.

Well, it did enrich, but not how I thought. My cat isn’t a big one on fish and is super picky, so i don’t really know why I thought this would be a good idea, but I did. I started by placing a whole minnow in the bowl with her regular 1/2 can of wet food, along with a dental treat and some hair ball gel.

She didn’t seem interested in the little freeze-dried friend right away, but I know that sometimes she will ignore things unfamiliar. I picked it up and showed it to her again, and she sniffed but seemed otherwise bored.

Then it began. She thinks it’s a GREAT DELIGHT to carry the little corpse around and leave it in random places for me to find; under her tower, by her bed, next to my shoes. The last spot I discovered the thing was in my bathroom, staring up at me from the bath mat while I’m trying to take care of my business.

This minnow has found it’s way into the trash at this point, but I do sometimes give her another one just to keep her busy. HOWEVER I did give my parents cat one to try, and after she actually ate it, she was in love.

She begged for more upon finishing that one, so I think it’s safe to say that if you don’t live with a devil prankster these might be a good option (or even if you do- live your life).

I bought these because I am trying to add raw and freeze dried meats to my cat’s diet. I have already purchased 2 bags of the chicken hearts from VE, and Itty loved them. Unfortunately, these rabbit treats were pretty much impossible to rehydrate.

I tried crumbling them in her wet food, cutting them up, adding to hot water, but nothing would get them to that “meaty” texture like other freeze dried toppers I’ve purchased. They stay extremely hard.

If your cat is weird about hard textures or has any dental issues, I would definitely pick something else from VE. My cat didn’t have any trouble with them and seemed to like them okay, but it did make me nervous she would break a tooth.

I’m going to try to find another rabbit meat option.

I’ve used these treats for awhile with two of my cats who are ravenous over their minnows. My third kitty, and my mom’s kitty, turn their nose up to these. Two out of four LOVE! My 12 year old experienced an acute event that required her to take a very large pill, twice daily, for 14 days.

I tried everything with my picky kitty and I could not trick her to eat the pill. The pill was too big to comfortably put down her throat and her condition made it painful to put the pills down her throat since she would squirm and irritate the condition.

I cut the pill in multiple little chunks, broke the minnows in half, and stuffed the pill chunks in to the stomachs of the minnows. My picky girl never blinked an eye at wolfing down the minnows with the secret stash in their bellies! These will be my go-to for pills forever!.

Second review I have written to describe how impossibly picky my cat is. She is the family cat that my husband didn’t want and now they are inseparable. My husband spoils her rotten and finding a cat treat seemed an impossible mission.

We tried a lot of the store brands and she would turn her nose up and walk away. Fruitables Wildly Natural treats are the only ones she will eat. And not just eat, but comes running for if you shake the bag, begs for every night after dinner and comes running if you are opening a bag that remotely sounds like the Fruitables bag.

If the dog gets a treat or dental bone, you better be prepared with the cat treats next. If my cat’s food pickiness runs over into treats, then I imagine these taste like the real deal. My husband just got done buying these in bulk, so we won’t be running out anytime soon!.

I have 2 cats, one that will eat just about anything and the other is sooo picky it isn’t funny. He won’t eat anything and I mean anything crunchy so I gave up on that years ago and he is just strictly on a wet food diet.

Well I adopted another kitty and she literally does not care what it is she will eat it. I don’t know if it’s because she was in a shelter or what, but anyway I got these to give to her because she is always looking for something and she absolutely loves them.

Well my older guy came out to the kitchen the one day I was handing them out and seemed interested so I was like well she’s right here if he doesn’t eat them. I bend down and offer him some and my lord it was like he had found his new best friend he chowed them down and ask for more.

So this is the only cat treat in my house now that I have finally found something crunchy that he will actually eat. I am so happy about this and he seems very happy with the flavor as well!.

My finicky kitty adores these. I do not like giving him anything hard as it’s hard on our pets kidneys but at least seem to be natural. Gives me less worry about his health than others would do. Wish these reviews didn’t need so many characters as there’s just nothing left to say.

My rescued cat at 8. 5 years old still has separation anxiety so it was so heartbreaking for me every morning when I’d leave for work. I’ve tried many things and found a few helpful solutions, the best being THESE greenies treats.

I read to distract her with a treat as I leave so wanted something healthy that she’d enjoy that I didn’t worry giving her every morning. Since I heard greenies are healthy, I tried a package of these and OMG….

She LOVES them!!! So, I now order the large containers of these (note the regular greenies she’ll eat but she loves this crunchy variety) as I give her some every morning when I leave for work. And, not only does she live them but others have commented on how soft her fur is (I thought it was softer but when my daughter came home from college she confirmed that she noticed it was much softer and shinier too).

So, these are not only lived by my fur baby but so lived by me for blessings us both in helping her with her anxiety as I transition to leave. I always order another container when I open the last one so we never run out.

She actually jumps up on my bed as I put on my shoes these days excitedly waiting for her greenies… praise God her desperate anxious meowing has been replaced with excitement for me to give her greenies as I leave.

She still greats me at the door purring like crazy when I get home so eager to be cuddled but her anxiety has been significantly reduced … as long as we don’t run out of greenies. 😊.

Hey, my two furry champs love these. They will come out of wherever they are if they hear these! It is the only way I can find my cats in a pinch for a headcount. I am not sure what they do for hairballs.

and frankly at this point it doesn’t matter because they love them and it is the only quick fast way to get a headcount that these are now as important as the cat liter and cat food. I got these becuase one of my cats has pooping problems.

Hard rock hard pellet poop only every other or third day. I tried EVERYTHING. The best perfect poop comes out of her body with Xanax so she apparently is super stressed all the time. But this little bear (cat) doesn’t like to the lack of zest from xanax so she refuses to eat and knows when it is and isn’t in her food).

So after trying loads of other items. I was into human magensiums options. and my mom and I went through her medicine cabinet and did a sort of refuse search of the type of human laxative and is it safe for cats.

I had to have one without a flavor. Cherry and bubblegum are not really going to be a cat pleaser. She had a powder miralax that had absolutely NO flavor. So tried it. Gave her a pinch. and voila. It came out – still like pellets, but at least it is moving each day now.

The pinch wasn’t enough so she is at 2 pinches. Still comes out rock hard, but at least it isn’t mustard colored and dry. it it dark brown pellet poop and once day. She is SO HAPPY. She doesn’t mind the food (small amount of wetfood only so she eats the whole thing) mixed with 2 pinches of miralax.

eats with joy, clean plate award each time. This is thee ONLY thing that has ever worked. I share because I tried everythign and the vets are peddling expensive stuff that is messy, and causes a human cat battle of wills and is just plain exhausting.

Headsup. I only do it daily becuase this situation with her is nuts. I am hyper vigilant and study the poop each morning to make sure she needs it or what is happening. It is only a fraction of what she probably needs.

My dsh tiger kitty has always had skin issues. Allergic to fleas or something in the past and especially from anxiety. She wasn’t socialized properly during those couple critical weeks as a kitten because she was born wild in the woods before found and brought to a humane society for adoption.

She is bonded to me, which is wonderful! However she still has experiences anxiety at times. Ex. When someone comes to visit, she sees a neighborhood cat outside etc then she starts to itch like crazy causing tons of scabs.

We address the anxiety, but to help with the skin she has a diet of sensitive skin/stomach cat food as well as these treats and it has helped aid in preventing the itching SO MUCH. At one point her entire back half was bald and since we started using these and purina one sensitive food, she is now fully grown back and thriving.

Definitely don’t listen to the directions on the package. Yikes that’s a TON of treats. I only give my cat 2-4/day max. Usually only 2.

My Kitty begs for these treats at the top of her lungs. I feel good giving them to her because they are nutritious and made up of trustworthy ingredients which is hard to find in treats. It’s hard to keep my pup from stealing them from her ☺️.

My cat goes bonkers over these treats. They allow me to call my kitty when I can’t find him in the house, and he comes running 90 miles an hour because he knows one of these treats awaits him! Plus I feel good knowing that I am giving him something healthy.

Lower star simply because my finicky Tagdoll won’t eat them. He loves his Life Abundance food. Don’t understand…it looks like his food but HE apparently knows the difference. Lol

Our cat absolutely loves these! He goes completely bonkers for them. He will even sit like a dog and be on his best behaviour for one of these treats. They have no nasties in them. Best treats we have ever tried.

I was looking for smaller and healthier treats to use for clicker training. I love that I can break these up into smaller pieces. My picky cats love this treat when I let them sample it. They wanted more but too bad they have to work for it!.

These treats are great dry raw treats if you can get a bag that doesn’t come crumbled. The treats are very soft. I originally got these hoping I could use them for my cats enrichments toys and puzzles but 1/3 of the bag came as dust and the pieces that did hold their shape are way too soft to add to any games or toys for your pet.

These would be perfect if you have a picky eater and need something to add to your pets meals that they can’t pick out. Best served in a bowl because of the dust quality. My cat loves them though and they are a healthy product but definitely not easy to use as a traditional treat.

Wavered between four stars and three, but since one of the problems is them not being very good for the cat, I left it as four, as they are a treat. Then back to three as my second complaint is pretty strong.

Cat likes them but I have two issues with them. One- they are pretty large and there is no way to close it so save it for later without clips to fold it into carefully. Understandable though, and a me problem.

Two, once ripped open by the tab, the edges are relatively soft, except the hard edge you start the tear from. There there is a hard, sharp edge that I can do little about. It’s just like the edge of a freezie.

I wish that side softened as it got close to the feeding edge. It’s right where the cat licks. I was constantly wary and worried about her cutting her tongue on it, which I see as a very real possibility.

For that reason I’ve only used two and am always put off to wanting to use known safer treats, instead. I don’t know if a cat ever has cut themselves on this, maybe never, but it makes me mildly anxious about it happening and I don’t want an insane vet bill and a miserable cat dealing with a sliced tongue.

If you have a way to soften the edge, or if you just squeeze it out into a dish, then I recommend.

I especially like that the ingredients are simple with no by-product or meal like many of the other lickable treats, just: Water Sufficient For Processing, Chicken, Modified Tapioca Starch, Natural Flavor, Chicken Liver, Rice Bran Oil, Locust Bean Gum, Taurine.

It’s not easy feeding my two at the same time as they nudge and push to get their licks, might have to try one in each hand. Pricing is okay as it comes out to be almost. 50 cents a tube, versus most which are usually about a dollar per tube for the same amount.

Each individual tube is. 50 oz. and there are 5 tubes per package, giving you 2. 5 oz per package.

My cat absolutely loves these! He’s allowed one a day, in the evening. Holding out one of his “lickies” is a sure-fire way to make him come in the house when he’s being stubborn. I add a couple of packages of them to my usual order of cat food, and as always, Pet Max sees that they are delivered promptly and in excellent condition.

The price is better than what I would pay locally. I discovered Pet Max when my local stores were out of my usual cat food during the worst days of the pandemic, and I have never been disappointed in their selection, quality and price.

I don’t buy my pet needs anywhere else now.

My cat Gandalf was a stray and cat food or treats aren’t his preference at all. Unless you have people snacks for a treat he wasn’t at all interested. Since I now have him, I wanted to find anything I could that would also be beneficial for him.

He scoffed at every treat I bought to include some of the softer more expensive ones. I bought a pack of Greenies just as the next assumed failure in line. To my shock I couldn’t get the treats out of the little pouch fast enough.

When I thought he had enough I put it up and he found it. The packaging didn’t stand a chance. So we have graduated to the larger plastic tubs that I have to hide inside another plastic tub with a screw top.

Thanks to your products, we have official approved all of them, I am able to give my cat a treat he loves and I love buying them knowing they are beneficial to his health and well being.

Hello guys! My cat only eats hairball treat from Greenies. And i didnt know they changed the packaging in January. i literally went everywhere – petco, walmart, target, smiths, amazon. and i thought i just couldnt find it because of all this inflation and pandemic.

But you know!!!! I found out it is actually has the same ingredients as the old hairball treats! I wish they wrote “new look” somewhere but im not sure if it was their intention to not to write that.

But anyways, it is a great product. My cat loves the flavor (hes been eating it for 13 yrs), it helps his digestive system and also harball situation. My cat only takes dental treats from Greenies, he loves the tuna flavor but it is hard to find lol.

Overall, great product!!! Been my cat’s favorite treat for 13 years :).

My cat has gotten SO fussy in his old age. He does not like anything that has texture or something he has to chew. He even throws up if something does not agree with his stomach. I have SO many cans of food that he used to eat, but it seems that he wants a different flavor every time he eats, or he’ll turn his nose up at it.

He is 19 now, so I want to make sure he continues to live a long and happy life. so, I do my best to find what he’ll eat. When I saw this Fussie Cat brand, I just had to try it, and I’m so glad I did.

He absolutely LOVES ALL of these Puree flavors! I like that one packet is all he needs at a time, and he lets me know when he’s ready for another. and that 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) one has to be a different flavor than the last.

That’s why these are so great. Now, I know these are supposed to be treats and not his every meal, but he also does have some freeze-dried food that I breakup for him to eat also. he likes that dry, but he drinks a lot of water which is great.

I can’t tell you how happy this makes me too because it’s so easy and I’m not having to refrigerate any leftovers.

My boy Charlie gets one of these per day. All I have to do is say *treat* and he races for the kitchen where they are kept. Frankly, I think this is perfect in case he ever gets out I can hopefully use this training to get him back quickly.

There are several flavors and they have various consistencies. This one is firmer and dispenses from the tube easier. The formula with duck, for example is more watery and I find it more often on my fingers.

Regardless of consistency, Charlie adores all of them. Incidentally, my vet approves of the brand.

This review is for 3 flavors of Fussie Cat lickables – Tuna with shrimp, Tuna with Prawns, and Tuna with Ocean Fish. All 3 were new flavors for my 4 cats. At first, all but one “turned up their noses” and would have nothing to do with the treats; but day by day they decided the flavor was not bad and now they all devour it at each meal.

I think the problem at first was just because the lickables were a new item for them. I’m sure I’ll be buying more of these lickables in the future. Also, I love the name “Fussie Cat”!.

Both cats, Lily and Clara, LOVE Temptations chicken treats. Clara will sit on command for her treat. Lily will hurry home when she knows the offering of Temptations is imminent. True story: When Clara recently wandered too close to a thicket where bees had been seen, I called her name, then placed a Temptations treat on the toe of my shoe.

She came running for her treat. I praised her and rewarded her with another treat as she followed me to the house. Both cats will come inside willingly when I toss several Temptations inside the screened porch, then close the door gently behind me.

I am training Clara to go on walks with me. Temptations treats reward her good behavior. I think of them as a communications facilitator.

This review is not about the product. My cats LOVE the product and when they hear the container opening they all come running. My review is about the price of the 16oz BAGS versus the 16oz TUB. The tubs are priced at $7.

98 whereas the bags are priced twice that amount at $14. 78. I spoke to 3 customer service agents that gave me different answers and then I contacted Mars that makes the product. They told me that on their end that $14.

78 price was for a 2-pack. But going back to the 3rd Chewy service rep I was told that all the 16oz flavors for the Temptation BAGS are the $14. 78 price. The 16oz 2 bag bundle was over $28. 00. I’m all for a company turning a profit but doubling the price is excessive.

For now on I will be buying the tubs and not the bags.

My girl cat goes crazy for these treats! I already knew she liked freeze-dried rabbit and duck, and she will steal broccoli off your plate if you’re not paying attention, so it was kind of a no-brainer to order these.

(My boy cat, a stray, hasn’t figured out treats yet — but he’ll sniff these before he walks off. ) I only have two minor complaints: 1) They’re kind of big. I sometimes have to break them up for her before she’ll eat them.

2) They’re crumbly, unlike the other freeze-dried treats I buy for her (shrimp, whitefish) which feel like. well. meat! Maybe it’s because of the cranberry & broccoli? Either way, it helps when I do have to break them up.

She used to be a quiet cat, not fussed about her food, barely any begging. Along comes sassy cat. It does look like cardboard and it’s smell is questionable. But this cat is all about it. You can’t even approach the fridge because she expects it’s sass time.

And sass is what we get with meows and jumping on the table. Beware of sass addiction.

50% chance your cat will like this. My cat likes the ginger part of relax treats so I bought this not expecting much. One cat loves these, and the other isnt thrilled. To be fair, she is only a #6 cat so her mouth can barely hold this treat.

For bigger cats and a great different flavor. Would definitely recommend.

I have 3 cats and one of them was recently diagnosed with diabetes. The vet recommended that for treats, I only give him freeze-dried treats, so I switched all of my cats to the same diet. I’ve tried several different brands and kinds of freeze-dried treats and some they liked and some they didn’t.

I was hesitant to try these treats, as i’ve tried another brand of salmon treats that they didn’t like, and these treats are kind of pricey. But. my 3 cats love this brand of salmon treats! One of them follows me around the house, begging for more, like he hasn’t eaten in years.

Lol. I have already purchased another package of these treats!.

These salmon treats are perfect for training your cat because they are very small so they don’t take long for your cat to eat and continue training. My two 3-year-old cats love them! The cubes are about 1/4″ square and there are a lot in the bag.

Probably the best value I’ve found on freeze-dried salmon treats.

I am a scheduled feeder and a true believer in healthy and hearty food for my cat AG. So what better choice than Bravo! treats for an evening snack. It’s all natural, grain free and without preservatives, ready made for a special cat like AG.

He loves it. I am glad I found Mooshiepets.

Dear KP friends, we have two cats, Boots is 14+ and Angel is about 1 1/2 – she was found at Swanzey Recycling Center by a kind woman who took her to the Monadnock Humane Society; her photo was placed in the newspaper and we saw her, called and went right there.

Both our cats LOVE fussies -Boots is missing some teeth and laps his food with enthusiasm. Kitty Poo is our partner for the health and happiness of our fur babies.

Another interesting combination. I’ve read somewhere that mackerel and also sardines are some of the ‘healthier’ fish one can feed their cat so it’s good to see more products containing these fishes.

This line of puree is terrific and the potato ingredient instead of tapioca is interesting and seems to work. I avoid carrageenan in cat foods at all costs so it’s good to not see that here.

I have a cat with multiple food allergies and I have been trying every treat, even making a bunch of my own, to see if she would enjoy it as much as things like Temptations. However, I have yet to find any treat she will eat.

The smell is always a big hit, but she gave one lick and walked away. More wasted money.

I say pretty good but only because being dried they fall apart extremely easy. My cats are the pickiest of cats and they came right away to eat these treats. They are best served on a dish since they fall apart in the package.

Zuke’s Natural Purrz is a better quality treat for cats. The first ingredient is chicken, followed by ground rice and barley. It does not contain any meat by-products. The treats are square shaped and look, feel, and smell like beef jerky, in my opinion.

I have five cats and none of them will eat these treats. I ended up giving them to the feral cats that I feed every day. They did eat them. Quality of Ingredients Although these treats are made with chicken as the first ingredient, they still have some ingredients I prefer they didn’t.

The treats contain ground rice, ground barley, malted barley, gelatin, vegetable glycerin (what is that?) tapioca, brewer’s yeast, natural flavors, fish oil, and some other non food ingredients. They are better than the treats I normally feed my cats and I was disappointed that my cats would not eat them.

Flavor Selection To my knowledge these treats come in three flavors; chicken, tuna, and salmon.

My cats go crazy over these when I have a fresh bag. These treats smell pleasant, and the softness is great for kittens or my nearly-toothless elderly cat. That being said, I am giving these four stars out of five because they become rock hard when they have been around for a while.

I rarely give treats unless I am trying to establish a certain behavior, so this has happened on a number of occasions when I have bought these treats. If you have plans to feed your cats treats on a regular basis, these are great.

If not, consider a different kind.

These treats are wonderful for any cat with a sensitive stomach that cannot tolerate the fat levels in other treats. I have an 18 lb cat that has been suffering from Inflammatory Bowl for the past few years.

With a very strict, low fat diet we were able to eliminate all of his symptoms without much medication. However, this means sacrificing all canned food and treats, which he did not appreciate very much.

After several months without any episodes I started trying a few other natural, top brand treats and they all affecting his stomach pretty quickly. I had almost given up hope on finding something he could enjoy again, then decided to try these as one final attempt.

I keep the portions minimal, about 2 treats once or twice per week, but he has done so well with them – no flare ups at all! He just about tramples me down to get to them, and my other male loves them equally as much.

I will mention our very picky female has the least bit of interest in them, but that doesn’t surprise me.

I had high hopes for these since I loved the regular freeze dried chicken beasts cat treats. But the other organ meat in this product is too hard and cannot be chewed up well. One of my cats started to choke on this.

He worked it out by just spitting the piece up. The liver pieces do not break up like the chicken pieces. If you give this to your cat, just be cautious that your pet chews it really really well.

I was expecting pieces of turkey big enough to feed my cats one piece at a time. No, this is more like “turkey crumbles”! There’s just no substance to them. Maybe they would work as a food topper, but that’s not what I thought I was ordering!.
