20 Best Headsets For Recording Audio (2023 Updated)

Auto-asked to write a review for the ATH M50x headphones I’ve just bought from Studio DJ. Decided to do so. Normally, it would be far too soon to write a review for a newly-purchased product. But this is the second pair of ATH M50x headphones that I’ve bought, so I have a lot of experience with them.

Must point out that I DON’T use them for music! I hardly ever listen to any music; only, sometimes, to Bach’s Klavier works on the car CD while driving. So, for music listeners, this review may be totally irrelevant.

I specifically chose the M50xs for field recording, especially for nature field recording: I mean, taking the headphones out with me in the field, in all kinds of weather and terrain conditions. For the quality, the price is reasonable, affordable, replaceable.

And, from my perspective, the quality is very good. You can find many technical reviews for the M50xs, with frequency response graphs, on the web, and it would be worth your while doing some research.

I did, and that’s why I chose, and was very happy with, these headphones, for my specific purposes. I typically also use them for listening to and editing field recordings, back at home, but I always use them comparatively, in conjunction with other headphones that I wouldn’t want to risk taking out into the field.

What I’ve found, from this experience, is that the M50xs work very well, both for in situ recording and for at-home listening/editing: they are very reliable up against other more expensive headphones.

From the listening perspective, for me, the most important point is that the M50xs present a significant bass boost (for frequencies below 200 Hz, and still very clearly for frequencies below 100 Hz).

For the purposes of nature field recording, this ‘bass emphasis’ is not a problem, for me, at all; to the contrary, it is a very great advantage, because it alerts me immediately to the presence of low frequency anthropogenic noise, such as distant traffic and machinery noise, which a much ‘flatter’ headphone frequency response would effectively gloss over.

I can then make a choice whether to continue recording, or try to get farther away (usually, it’s the latter). The other thing that should be mentioned about the M50xs is that they have a design weakness, which especially affects field recordists.

On the one hand, it’s wonderful that these headphones can be folded up for neat, convenient packing into a draw-string vinyl bag. But constant wear and tear takes its toll. There is a small plastic pin inside the hinge of the headphones which effectively holds them tight against your ears.

With much use, and perhaps especially with much folding and unfolding out in the field, that pin will break off. Then, the headphones no longer have any grip: they can’t be used. Fortunately, a quick search on the web for how to repair MKH50xs with this problem, reveals that there are several people who have produced 3D-printed little clamps that can be screwed over the hinge, to fix the problem – because it’s a very common and very well-known problem! The result makes the headphones quite usable; although, I found, not with quite the same strength of grip and tight seal around the ears as in the original.

Still, much better than ditching a pair of otherwise perfectly good headphones. So, that’s basically why I bought this second pair of ATH M50x headphones. I continue to use the repaired pair out in the field, and the new pair at my desk, in conjunction with other headphones.

It will be very interesting to see whether not needing to fold away, pack, and carry the new pair will lengthen their hinge lifespan. As for well-known deterioration of the earpads and interior lining of the headband (again, check the web): well, I had already replaced one pair of ear pads on the first pair, so when I bought this pair, I also added a pair of replacement ear pads to the purchase.

My feeling is that I’m glad that Audio Technica put the real use value into the important parts of the headphones: the listening parts! If the peripherals have much less longevity, well, at least there are replacements and fixes out there – and for a good reason: because the headphones are very good, and people want to keep using them!.

After a lot of research, it came down to this or Beyerdynamics dt770 pro. And I chose this over that as it had detachable cable, swivel earcups which I really need as I often have to remove my headphones.

Now I do have to say, the leather materials and the tight headband maynot be ideal for long usage, you may have some discomfort in wearing it continuously for hours. But other than that, The audio quality is definietly so good that I am now listening to my playlist with a very different perspective (idk if it makes sense but yes).

And for anyone who is looking to get their first Studio Monitor headphones will be very much satisfied. It offers a very flat sound which is not bad at all, it only means it replicates the voices and instrument as original as possible.

That is exactly what I needed as I need to mix my instrument and vocal tracks. And for all Audiophiles who would need their songs to sound close to original you would love this too! TLDR: If this is your first studio monitor, definitely go for it!.

This is an excellent headset that lives up to its professional branding. I bought it to have a quality solution for remote working and social video chats. When I initially started wearing it I was disappointed by how uncomfortable the stock earpads were, as I’d hoped for better comfort than a standard office-style headset.

I wear glasses and the stock earpads pinched the legs painfully between my ears and head, making them unbearable to wear for more than an hour. I know this headset is popular with streamers, so I researched online and found people recommended replacing the stock earpads with “Brainwavz Replacement Memory Foam Earpads”.

I bought a pair of perforated black Brainwavz earpads, fitted them, and now I have (what I think) is the ultimate headset. It’s supremely comfortable, makes music and voice chat both sound great, while the microphone is so good you’ll need to start learning about gain vs volume, noise gating, and how to set good levels on the mixer/interface you’re going to need for it (I ended up getting a Behringer Q502 USB audio interface).

All-in (headset, earpads, mixer) it’s not a cheap solution for video/conference calls. If you find yourself chatting to friends/colleagues for hours every day through a headset though, and you have the budget, then I think it’s absolutely worth it.

Pretty happy with these. I replaced the cushions with Brainwavz Replacement Memory Foam Earpads as soon as I got it. With that mod, these are really comfortable and my ears don’t get too hot after 4+ hour session.

The microphone is great for speech, and the headphone tone is a little bit narrow but nothing that can’t be improved with a digital mixer. No concerns about build quality; this is definetly pro level kit.

Would buy again.

I like the unit, it works well. I wish the headphone in was 1/8 (3. 5 mm) instead of 1/4 inch as most headsets have. I have not tried it in a noise environment to see if the noise rejection work, although in a small room one often experiences reflected sound, which is my primary use, so from that standpoint is is excellent.

I’ve used a mic in the same room and it is very noisy. I like the quality construction of the unit. I have worn the headset for more than 3 hours and it is not uncomfortable. The boom mic is very adjustable.

Because the mic can be positioned so close to your mouth this allows you to reduce the gain and further increase the noise suppression. I cant see ever going back to a mic and stand, this is too good.

I needed a better microphone for online meetings and training video creation. I was unaware of the background noise that my “old” headset introduced. I looked around and found some very expensive headsets and some that emphasized BASS.

I came across this Jabra headset at a much more reasonable cost. I was a little surprised that it has a USB “puck” as well as the 3. 5mm connector. The 3. 5mm for my phone and the USB puck for the laptop where the video creation occurs.

(I found that the 3. 5mm connector in the laptop recorded one side but not stereo. The puck resolved that issue) There is no perceptible background noise and the sound quality from the microphone is good.

The headset sound is clear and high quality. The mic boom is not my favorite design. It does not have a lot of position flexibility but I found a way to make it work well. The headset ear pieces are comfortable but after a while my ears start to hurt and I have to move them around.

Overall, for the price, these were a good choice and I would recommend them if your requirements are not for constant wearing. I am happy with my selection.

Nice headset. I bought them primarily for work. I’m on a lot of calls (on my PC), maybe around 3-4 hours a day a couple times a week and I find them to be pretty comfortable. I’m not sure how they would be if you used them 8 hours a day, but I can’t imagine it would be too bad.

I also use them occasionally for listening to music and Youtube. Personally I think the audio is pretty good, but if you’re an audiophile you may have a different opinion. But for a casual user like me, they’re perfect.

They work equally well on my phone. The build material is pretty good if you ask me, but I do think you need to treat them with care, they aren’t that durable where you can toss them around willy-nilly.

At the price point I paid (around $40) I think it was a great deal. I don’t think they’re worth the $80 or more I normally see them priced at.

This is the headset only — by design! At the time I purchased (Sept 2021), it’s half the price of the other listings for Jabra Evolve 40 on Office Depot, and it mentions only 3. 5mm connectivity — the others mention USB.

If you already have the Jabra USB dongle (or you don’t care about the control dongle) this saves you some money. The 3. 5mm plug on my old headset broke when the device it was attached to fell to the floor.

I didn’t need a new USB dongle, just a new headset, so this was perfect — why pay for a new whole package when all you need is a new headset? But that’s why it’s cheaper — it’s a replacement headset only.

Look at all the listings and it’s pretty clear.

I -LOVE- these headphones. They are super comfortable even on my size 7. 5+ head and fairly large ears, and it’s even better with the velour pads. They feel sturdy and very durable. with one tiny exception – the built-in volume knob.

From the start, it was too light for my liking, and it often gets cranked all the way down (better than UP!) by the lightest touch – such as when I adjust my hair or the headset position, or even sometimes when I put my arms up and lean back.

Secondly, the potentiometer used seems to easily develop corrosion or debris on the contacts, and since I rarely turned it up all the way, it developed a crackle and one ear would cut out at a certain position on the dial.

It should be noted I live in a tropical environment, with year round high humidity. However, immediately prior to typing this review, it developed another light crackle at a different volume, and in my frustration I turned the dial back and forth about a half-dozen times angrily, and I could literally hear the signal clean up as I did so.

As of now, it is functioning correctly and as expected! As someone coming from exclusively closed-back designs, I find the soundstage to be incredible! So much so, that I frequently have to check my surroundings when I hear an unexpected sound; most notably when it’s least expected in the background of a YouTube video or something! Performance is equally impressive while gaming, and having solid locational accuracy of footsteps/explosions/shots is a literal game-changer.

No pun intended. The mic -to me at least- sounds like one of, if not THE, best quality headset mics on the market, and it seems to do a decent job leaving out background sounds. The braided cables feel nice and sturdy, and the fact that they are removable is a huge plus when it comes to longevity, replacement and even functionality by swapping to the short cord combo jack for mobile usage.

Not having to juggle a 9ft cord and a dangling unused mic plug or having to use an adapter is super nice for using on the go. I can’t comment too much on the technicalities of the sound reproduction, as I have not previously ever owned a pair of premium headphones; aside from a Logitech G900 series (I think) headset, 99% of the headphones I’ve used in past were Skullcandy.

What I can say though, is coming from those devices, these are glorious. I have been powering these with a SoundBlaster G6 via USB on Windows 10, and have used them for listening to music both on Spotify and Tidal, gaming, Discord and typical online content consumption.

TLDR: These are fantastic headphones for the price, and a must buy if you can get them on sale. It’s even got me pondering if I should get the Senheisser PXC 550-II headphones for travel now. I bought these as an upgrade for my Logitech G231 headphones, and I have to say it’s significantly better.

My old headphones had a terrible mic input that was low in volume. It was also supposed to have a mute functionality when you flipped the mic all the way up (which straight up didn’t work). This headphone solved both of those issues while also being very comfortable: Pros: Super comfortable – I know people talk about the clamping force of Sennheiser’s, so this will depend on person to person.

But I’m a huge fan of the smooth material they used for ear cups. My head and ears are about medium sized Mic quality is way better – I addressed this above, but worth restating. Clicky mute functionality – I am able to know with certainty that the mic is muted Useful volume knob – I use this way more often than I thought I would, as it makes it easy to switch between gaming and media consumption (which have different volume levels) Outstanding bass – These were designed to have great bass, and it lives up to that design philosophy.

Looks – This is also to personal preference but I actually appreciate the yellow accent color inside the mic and outside drivers. I think it adds enough personality to the headphone to not be totally boring, but it doesn’t scream “I’M A GAMER” to everyone in the room Cons: 3D Audio is okay – The jury is still out for me on this, but I almost prefer the 3D audio of my old Logitechs a bit better.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s passable most of the time, but there have been a couple of times enemies snuck up behind me, and I couldn’t tell what side they were flanking me on. Price – Honestly, this isn’t much of a con.

I managed to cop these for about $50 off. It is an outstanding deal for the price I got it at. I was looking at other high end gaming headsets from Astro and Corsair, and I can’t say just how happy I am that I did the research and found these instead.

So I’m just experiencing sticker shock, and these are still definitely worth the $169 MSRP if you have the cash. Audio Leaking – I mean, this is to be expected of any open back headphone (and even some closed backs), but the audio definitely leaks out the sides of the headphones.

My partner who sits next to me fortunately works with Airpods in, but it might be a nuisance for people in a dorm room situation (where your desk is in the bedroom, and you have roommates). Okay Mids/Highs – Also, not much of a con.

The rest of the headset just wowed me so much, it would have been perfect if the mids/highs had a little more brightness to them. Overall though, it’s very passable Uncertain future – Okay, I’m padding the cons; but with Sennheiser’s consumer product division having just been sold off, I’m worried what they might do with an amazing product like this.

If I were you, and you’re in the market for a gaming headset, this has got to be a top contender.

Do not let the title mislead you about my impression of the PC38X. I think they are a great set of headphones, but not just the sound I am looking for. I gave them about 30 hours to break in at various demands from numerous musical genre to intense action gaming where the drivers are demanded to produce details in the upper range as well as reproduce lower notes requiring extra driver excursion.

As I mentioned previously, the headset did very well at reproducing details. the sound stage is wide and open like you would expect from an open back headset but thin sounding to me and a bit bright at times.

Overall, I felt these lacked body and warmth compared to other headsets like the V-moda M-100/200 and dedicated gaming headsets from SteelSeries. (Both quite a bit more expensive, I might add) Both of those, in my listening opinion produce a much more blended, rich and warm sound that does not trigger a wince when hearing cymbals or gunfire from a game.

Having said all of that, I would recommend these cans to someone but I would first have to ask what they are going to use them for and what they normally listen to in order to make that recommendation.

If it’s games. eehh. depends again, but for the most part there are much better choices even if you have to save another week or two to get them. If it’s just jazz or classical. absolutely! These are wonderful listening to that type of music.

If it’s heavy metal, hard rock or rap. nope. The drivers will reach their limits in a hurry when you turn it up to enjoy it and you’ll find yourself being frustrated because certain parts sound so good.

Just do yourself a favor and keep shopping if those are your needs. Oh, and as far as their brightness, I would highly recommend driving these with a tube amp to soften those shreaky moments that make your eyes twitch like you just ate something very sour.

The only negative reviews I’ve seen of these headphones seem to always come from people who don’t understand what these are for. These headphones are designed and manufactured specifically for the purpose of mixing and mastering.

They are intended to be extremely flat in frequency response and transparent in signal separation and in the presentation of the stereo field. Put another way, these are designed precisely to point out things that sound bad in the mix, not to put lipstick on any song and dress it up to fool you into liking it (like those horrible Beats do).

They’re also really good for tracking, having excellent insulation and isolation from outside noise. These are headphones for working professional audio engineers and music makers, not hanging out at the beach.

That said, they are the absolute best headphones for this purpose I’ve ever heard. When I mix with them then play it through studio monitors, my mixes sound like heaven exploding into my brain. Cheers.

I reviewed this headphone for my YouTube review channel. This headphone is robust in build, but otherwise has no exceptional abilities whatsoever. It has a very narrow soundstage, below-average detail retrieval, and a rather veiled sound signature.

I’ve read so many positive reviews for this headphone that I initially thought I had a faulty unit. I returned it, and got an other brand new pair from a different reseller. There was no difference in sound quality from what I recalled from the first pair.

I did A/B tests with the NDH20, and compared to far cheaper products, and the NDH20 always underperformed in nearly every meaningful respect. Those who give positive reviews for this headphone have never actually done A/B comparisons with alternatives, and have not critically examined Neumann’s claims for this product.

Indeed, the vast majority of the time reviewers for this headphone make grandiose and vague statements about the performance without pointing to any specifics. That is a telltale sign that the reviewers are not objectively stating what they heard, but instead promoting their own subjective sound preferences.

The bottom line, as I outlined in several videos comparing this product to others, is that the NDH20 is NOT neutral. It is not clear or detailed. It does not have wide soundstage. If you want neutral headphones, I suggest you look to the Avantone Planar, Ollo S4X, or Shure SRH1540.

Most of my working life is spent on phone or video calls so I wanted to invest in a decent headset I could use in the home office but that wasn’t double-sided and too big to carry around with me on business trips.

The Poly fit the bill nicely. Firstly, the only reason this doesnt have 5 stars is the price. Obviously I paid the price but I do feel they’d get more interest if the price point was a little lower, maybe around the £100 mark.

That said, this is an excellent headset. The quality is superb, it fits on your ear perfectly and I have no issues wearing it throughout the whole day. It it doesn’t cause any aching for me at all. The microphone is in the correct location and I often get asked which headset I have because the quality is so great.

The speaker quality in return is excellent too – snug fit means less background noise. The smart features are like nothing I’ve used before. A nice audible notification “muted” when I try to speak but actually have the headphone muted has saved me embarrassment more times than I can recall.

Talking while muted is an issue that’s always needed fixing but it’s never been clear how, until now. Other notifications are the battery life and which devices you’re registered too. My preferred app of choice for video calls is Teams – this has a physical button for answering/ending calls and mostly it works really well.

I find the app has to be front of screen to work seamlessly but I actually think it’s something I’m doing wrong, so I’ll keep digging. Setup is a doddle. Plug and play. I’d like the option of a USB-C adapter instead of USB-A – most laptops don’t have many (or any) USB-A drives now.

The battery life is unreal. Lasts all week for me without a hitch. If I get the notification of low battery when powering on, it’s a case of plugging in for 5-10 minutes and I’ve got a days use again.

To summarise – price could be lower, USB-C connector would be great and perhaps a little better/easier integration with MS Teams (that could be my issue, though). Would I buy again? Yes, I think I would.

But that’s because I’m on the phone all day every day. If I wasn’t, then the £100+ price point would likely put me off.

The headphones sound great, and the build quality is top notch. They’re comfortable to wear for extended periods, even for my large head. The Bluetooth connection is strong. It takes several walls between them and the source, to disrupt the connection.

I primarily use them with my TV, playing Netflix and xbox. I haven’t noticed any lag between the audio and video. I’ve only been using them for a couple of days, but so far, the battery life is excellent.

My only complaints are – that during calls, I can hear myself and ambient noises through the speakers. The calls are fine it’s just a minor annoyance. – And the lack of active noise cancelling is disappointing.

Other head phones in this price range (and cheaper) have ANC. It’s a strange omission. It’s not a deal breaker for me, but maybe for some.

So, I consider myself as an over ear headphones type of person, since they existed. With that being said, if you’re having the same thought, (after reading every review, on multiple websites, trying to learn as much as possible about this product), on whether to spend so much money for headphones.

My advice is to just buy them, as I have. The worst thing possible is a free return, and money back so. there’s really nothing to lose! And no, I don’t work for, nor with this company, I just respect it! It’s easier to write negative reviews than positive ones.

I’ve had this for over 2 years now, and it still works like new! Seems pretty reliable, especially for the price. It might’ve actually been more expensive when I bought it two years ago. Microphone doesn’t sound great, honestly could be better.

Doesn’t work very well on Discord but it’s good enough. If you’re an audiophile then this definitely isn’t the headset for you. In my opinion, the max volume of the headphones doesn’t reach high enough when you really want to jam out (unless the max output volume has deteriorated as a result of wear, or my ears have just gotten worse).

And you can’t adjust EQ or anything, but what do you expect from a $30 headset with a 3. 5mm output? Side note: the scroll for the volume behind the right headphone can really come in handy, definitely a nice touch.

This headset is plug and play which is also nice. Overall a decent product, once again good for the money. But if you want a better quality and stronger microphone, as well as stronger and better audio, I’d say save for a better headset.

Theae headsets are amazing for the price point. Sound quality is on the flat side, really close to a monitor headphones with good amount of soundstage to make it easier to detect your surroundings in fps, rpg, etc.

Not a lot of bass, but that’s how I like my headphones so these are perfect for me in that aspect. Microphone is adequate but nothing amazing. For the price it’s fine. These fit my head comfortably and I can play for hours without any issues or discomfort.

The parts that I don’t like are the volume control and the method of muting the headphones. Vol control isn’t great, doesn’t have good controls and it’s on the headphone part, not on the cord where I prefer it to be.

The way you mute the mic is to lift/pivot it up, and when it’s muted it makes a pretty loud clock sound that the others can hear. If the vol control and mic mute buttons were on the line, this headset would have been perfect, especially considering the price point.

I hate to give his a average rating, but I really dislike inline-type wires. Always have bad luck with them. This time, it might be my fault: Built my own PC, project took a few days [2nd time building one, was still a noob].

My inline ports could be at fault, but when I got this headset, I had trouble connecting it, having it work and be detected. Got it to work, was fine for a few days, and then just refused to work, no matter what I did.

Now, on to the good: Great sound for the price, immersive. Almsot too much, had to take it off to talk to anyone nearby. But alone, when you are in the middle of a gaming session, you get enveloped in the experience.

I really liked the sound, and I’m not a sound enthusiast. It’s good stuff. While it didn’t work for my PC, I gave it to a family member who has just gotten their own gaming PC. She has had zero issues since day one, and continues to use them when playing multiplayer games.

If you are like me, and you have trouble with or hate inline style wires, avoid. Otherwise, it was good while it lasted for me, and my donatee is happy with them.

I really wanted to like these Fostex headphones. I own two pairs of Fostex RP20s, no longer available, which I’ve been using in my studio for more than a dozen years. They still sound great and have held up well.

Unfortunately, these Fostex T40RPMK3s sound good and are well made, but they’re surprisingly uncomfortable, at least for me. They feel too tight and the headband presses down uncomfortably on my head.

I wondered if they were heavier than my old Fostex phones, but I got out my scale, and they’re exactly the same weight. I’ve owned a lot of headphones — the RP20s, ATH-M50Xs and other studio headphones from AKG, Sennheiser and Sony, and I’ve never wanted to take a pair off after 15 seconds.

I realize that comfort is an individual matter — they may fit your head much better. If so, this a nice set otherwise and I’d have to conditionally recommend them.

Great sound. Needs some power to drive them though, Sony NW A45 has to run near max volume. Really need an amp or high power output device. Sounds really nice with the FIIO X5 III. Really shine with FLAC or other hi res files.

Not the best with low quality mp3’s as they highlight the shortcomings of the source file. Ear pads a bit thin, can be uncomfortable after a few hours.

Pros: The best compliment I can pay these are this: When I listen to music on them, I have yet to wish for more treble or bass or vocal clarity. They disappear on my head and I can just truly enjoy what I’m listening to.

For the price, especially compared to the cost of other planar headphones, that is epic. Cons: I would suggest watching Z Reviews’ Youtube video on all of the Mk3 headphones to get an idea on the differences and comfort mods between the three.

) First Con: The stock earpads. They are super thin, and not very comfortable – but to be honest, not hurtful. They are essentially ON-EAR headphones with the stock pads, as your earlobes will make contact with the inner driver area.

The Shure HPAEC1540 and 1840 pads are hands down the most comfortable and best sounding pads I’ve found for the T20RPs. I like the 1840 pads just a bit more than the 1540. Second Con: The headband is thinly padded.

It isn’t uncomfortable, but can be improved upon. I went with the Mr. Speakers leather headband, and they just float on my head now. No pressure points becoming sore after hours of listening. The hardest part of installing this was figuring out where in the house I left my screwdriver.

Third Con: Sensitivity. These are not easy to drive. Your smartphone will not suffice. If you need an inexpensive amp, I suggest the Micca OriGen+, or one of the many Fiio products. I listen to mostly rock, classic rock, metal, edm, blues, and a limited number of jazz and classical tracks.

I would describe my listening preferences as being 1/2 way between bass-head and audiophile. I love bass, want it loud, but do not want it trampling over the rest of the music. I purchased the T20RP Mk3.

Quick Review ——————- This is a decent light weight headset which can do both lightspeed and Bluetooth. Since this headset also supports Bluetooth, you can use it with tablets and phone for phone calls and android/apple iOS based gaming.

I like the fact that it is light weight, has an outstanding sound quality for calls, excellent sound and decent battery life… Pros —– 1. Its light weight, only 5. 8Oz, 2. Versatile – since it can connect to Lightspeed and Bluetooth, it can connect to PC’s , Smartphone and tablets.

3. I have used this for online gaming and zoom calls and the sound quality of the mic is amazing. 4. Decent battery life – 18 hours 5. Type c charging port 6. Dolby Atmos support Cons ——- 1. Wish the batter life was even better than 18 hours Setup ——- LightSpeed – setup is easy, connect the USB device to the USB port, push the power button for 2 sec and you are connected.

Bluetooth – press the power and mute button for 3 seconds and LED will flash which means you have entered pairing mode. If you press 3 seconds or longer on the mute button, you can switch between lightspeed and Bluetooth.

Usage ——— The headset is comfortable on my large head, it has a good amount of stretch. It is also lightweight and that makes it comfortable to we The soundstage is amazing. When listening to music or gameplay, the sounds seem to come from all directional.

The headset also support Dolby Atomos but did not get a chance to use. I also used the headset with my PC and smartphone (Bluetooth) for zoom calls and the sound quality is good and my meeting participants did not have complaints.

The rated battery life is 18 hours, I think might have gotten close to that number. Overall for the price and the versatility, this is a great headset to buy!!.

These are ok. I’ve actually downgraded from G933’s because the battery wouldn’t charge anymore and only worked when wired to power. Anyway, the reason I bring that up is because there’s a big difference between the two and I feel like I should’ve got the G935’s or something similar.

The first thing I noticed of the bat was the sound difference in games. The sound field was so different and it’s hard to hear where sound is actually coming from whereas with the G933’s I knew exactly where sound was coming from.

I also didn’t realise that these don’t have G-hub support so you don’t have all the features that supports. The mic is a lot less receptive being only a small notch on the earcup itself and doesn’t sound that good and it’s too receptive to ambient sound, I have to use push-to-talk (on PC) or all everyone can hear is my mechanical keyboard.

Physically the headset is nice looking and is super lightweight and feel comfortable at least. If you have a decent gaming session you’ll need to put them back on the charger or you’ll find your getting the warning bro not long into your next session.

Being Bluetooth is also a bonus and music actually doesn’t sound too bad, I was actually surprised at that. Overall they are good headphones, I just probably expected too much going from the much higher quality G933’s.

The Mackie MC 350 is a pretty good relatively budget pair of closed back headphones. It has great detail and the frequency response is flat so it’s great for studio usage. The only downside for me is that the headphones are a tad bit small.

Pulling the headband all the way is still small for my head. So the ear pad is cupping and pulling up on my earlobe a bit but it’s not too uncomfortable. Size is the main factor besides personal preference for sound for deciding to purchase this pair of headphones or not.

I love these headphones! I’ve owned them for about 2 weeks now. They are very neutral, and all the frequencies come out great without anything being overpowered. The pads are awesome! I’ve yet to have sweaty ears, but I’ve only worn them for a max of about 3 hour at a time so far.

It takes a standard 3. 5mm cable but it’s recessed in the headcup kinda far but you can use them with the Vmoda boom pro if you cut a little bit of the rubber off on the boompro. The short cable has a microphone and volume controls so you could just use that instead of the boompro.

The only con for me is that they don’t extend very far. I’ve got a med-large head and have them extended all the way out, so if you have a big head they probably won’t work. Also they are a circle shape instead of an oval so you need to bend the headband and that’ll give you a little bit more room too.

I’ve been through different studio monitors and external amplification but never really dove into flat response headphones but apartment living forces us musicians that way. I did it the old fashioned way, grabbed every pair of headphones I wanted to try and played through the same piano I have (casio cdp).

I have been using ear buds (jbl) for the majority of my playing but I wanted to see what the hype was about with over the ear being the “cream of the crop” and a lot of them sounded a lot better than what I was using which was no surprise because obviously the sound would be bigger and wider than in ear.

However none of them blew me away into justifying a couple hundred for headphones until I plugged these ones in. It was literally magic and a smile from ear to ear. The sound is as neutral and uncolored as well, a real piano.

It doesn’t boost any frequencies which is wonderful. There’s no harsh distortion with big chords and the low bass notes actually register as bass and not fizz. The highs are absolutely stunning and balanced out beautifully with the bass.

The mids are great, sometimes it stands out in front and other times they’re hanging out in the back, still equally present. These are my first pair of studio headphones and I think im actually going to enjoy backing tracks and just playing a lot more because of them.

Can’t praise these cups enough. I feel as though I’ve ascended into a new world of sound. Try for yourself, worst that could happen is spontaneous combustion from being sonically blown away.

Let me preface this review by saying that I ONLY buy Belkin accessories and products for my needs. I trust Belkin’s quality and reliability. However, these earbuds are not up to par. There is a constant static/hissing noise in the background that’s very very noticeable without any audio playing but also noticeable when there IS audio playing.

Additionally, even on max volume the audio being played sounds distant and not very loud and the static/hissing noise gets even more noticeable in the background. I tested these in multiple phones with the exact same results.

I honestly thought I had gotten a defective unit so I exchanged it for another pair but I had the exact same experience, again testing in multiple phones. I then got the OEM-branded earbuds of a major Android manufacturer (not sure if I’m allowed to name them so I will leave it at that) and the sound quality was significantly better.

So overall this is just not a usable product in any way and I’m surprised that Belkin would release a product like this.

Picked these up to have a more reliable alternative to wireless earbuds for my phone. When anything is playing they sound fine, but during quiet sections of songs/podcasts or when the volume is turned very low, there’s a distinct constant hissing sound.

It’s distracting enough that I would return the product if I were able to, and will probably refrain from using them if I have any other alternative. Otherwise they seem to perform fine – the in-ear fit isn’t great, but that’s significantly less of a concern with wired headphones.

Headphones with a lightning connector provide a great alternative to Apple Earbuds, which have cables that are easily ruined. The Belkin cables are much better, but the body of the headphone comes apart very easily.

Unfortunately, this leaves the speaker dangling by tiny wires that are easily broken. My Belkin headphones are currently in a drawer with one earphone in pieces. Hopefully, I solder those tiny wires back in place!.

Honestly surprised by Hyper X. I had tested out the Steelseries arctis pros and arctis 7s aswell as the Logitec flagship model going for 200$ and they all sounded flat and didnt have much Bass to them.

The logitec did have more bass than steelseries but these Hyper X Cloud Alpha S headphones are Fantastic their mids highs and lows all come in sounding ultra crispy and very well balanced out of the box! The ability to go open back or closed back is fantastic and for a trained ear you can hear the difference.

Most of the reviews on here say they cant hear a difference and it almost made me turn away from them until I tried them myself. If your on the fence and are looking at the 200$ steel series models or logitec flagship models save the extra 70$ and get these.

The 7. 1 virtual works great with windows DTS headphone:X the spacial audio on these are very good for FPS games and the ability to go open back and get more bass has made my music listening experience improve 10 fold.

Im hearing things in music ive never heard before and its almost like listening to a song for the first time. All my gaming buddies say my voice is alot clearer than my previous headset so that tells me the mic is a difinitive upgrade over my previous set, For reference I had hyper x Cloud cores that lasted me about 5 years and they still work but the sound quality was diminishing due to age but I loved them Another thing I have to say about hyper x headphones is the comfortability and durability I dont think I could break a hyper x headset if I wanted to these babies are tough! On the comfortability side nothing beats hyper X if you suffer from headaches from headphones hyper X headphones are the only ones I can sit and game for 8 hours with no pain.

I spent days looking at headphones and im glad I chose these. hyper X has never let me down. Highly reccomend them if a pair of 200$+ headphones is a hard pill to swallow for you.

I hate to say it, but these are just horrible if you care about sound quality at all. When connected through the included USB audio control mixer, the sound is “fine”. Nothing about it is great but nothing is too bad.

yet. I tried to use these on my Dell laptop and while they work in their normal mode, the virtual surround mode just flat out doesn’t work at all. No audio whatsoever. Their instructions are outdated so you have to just kind of mess with things until windows says surround is on.

When plugged into my laptop without the USB mixer things really get bad. The bass is weak, the mids are muddied and the highs are tinny. When I hooked them up to my FiiO DAC/AMP things improved a little.

There was more power and I had a little more room to try to boost the bass more, but it was still pointless. No matter what I did, I just couldn’t get these to sound good. I hooked up my old Oneodio A71 headphones to compare and they sounded world’s better.

What’s sad is those A71’s only cost $30-40. These advertise adjustable bass, but that’s a lie. What you get is a switch on the back of the cups that opens a little port hole, making them work a bit more like open back headphones.

It doesn’t boost the bass, it lets more air move around, thus changing the whole sound profile. I do admit the build quality is solid, though the headphone cable could use another foot to its length in my opinion.

A few years ago I would have recommended HyperX headphones. I loved my Cloud II’s. And maybe those are still good headphones. But I would avoid these like the plague.

Full disclosure, I’m not an audiophile but as a standard gamer this headset is awesome, minor sound differences from the PC38Xs but IMO these are more comfortable and are better value overall. DAC/amp not needed.

Pros: -Unparalleled comfort. The clamping force of the PC37X headset was perfect for me, the earcups are soft and breathable, and the band is adjustable (not too sure about that one reviewer, they probably have sensitive skin or a soft head).

I used to wear this headset for 12 hours at a time and never had any issues. -Great value at this price point -Sleek design. It doesn’t really look like a GaMeR headset so you can safely take this into work meetings/client calls without being ridiculed by your colleagues or clients.

-Good Construction. Don’t be fooled by the hard plastic design, I’ve whipped these things on the floor, tripped on the cord and sent them flying, put them in suitcases, backpacks, and anywhere they can get whipped/shuffled around and they still worked flawlessly.

After 4+ years of moderate abuse, the port on the headset stopped working after tripping on the cord and sending them flying across the room but that’s mostly because I’m a brute. -Versatility. Works on anything with a 3.

5mm jack (you may need a combo adapter). Cons: -The default earcups can get hot and they hold on to lots of dust/dirt/skin so if you’re a sweaty person you may want to clean these often or get replacement pads.

-Mic is not the best (you can probably get a better-sounding $50 standalone mic from Amazon) but it does the job. Overall that’s not the worst tradeoff especially considering the price and sound quality.

First I want to say that I am a Hi-Fi and sound enthusiast that has a lot of different branded headsets and headphones in his fleet. I love to hearing music and films from different sources, from phone over tablet to high sophisticate high-end player.

I understand that all mechanical life comes to an end, especially I your excessively using I like I am/have used my PC37x every working day and more in the last 2 years. I love the boom-up-mute function which saved my many times from searching for the un-mute button in several tools used for online-calls, even my colleagues got used to give me a “boom-down, you are muted” if needed to be reminded.

But… And this really disappointed me after almost precisely 2 years, the mic stoped working. No physical damage, no hard drop, no obvious broken cable, just being in a call there was no boom-down working to un-mute.

it took me several update attempts and a comparison with some other headset to be sure, it is the Sennheiser that somehow died. And what now? I am disappointed! A great brand, great product at a price that is not even close to low-budget.

I expect more and better. This is why 3 stars ⭐️ is all I will give. When I purchased it 2 years ago, I don’t even remember if there was an guarantee extension available. It seems purchasing a new one is the only solution.

And still, sound is great, condition like new, what shall I do with this one??? Drop Community Sennheiser I would be open for more ⭐️ but it needs a solution!!!.

For the first few weeks these headphones were excellent. When I used discord for the first time with these headphones, my group said I sounded much clearer and easier to hear than the previous cheap mic I had been using.

Some problems appeared, I reached out to support and got no answer. I am well past the warranty period now. I was hoping someone could coordinate an RMA with me, but no luck. Problems: 1) The volume knob on the right ear – if this is used at all, the headphone will periodically make a squeal sound.

Researching this, seems like the amplifier has some problems. I leave the headset volume on minimum and only adjust volume using windows sound controls. 2) Crackly bass. There are certain frequencies that will cause the left ear to buzz.

I researched this and some say it is caused because the grills on the sides allow hairs and dust to land on the speaker – and that causes vibration which causes the crackle. I have tried blowing in the grills and also using compressed air.

It doesn’t help. I can reproduce the crackle by going to a youtube video doing a bass frequency test. The crackle always appears around a specific really low frequency. If you play very “bassy” games.

Think bad company 2 on war tapes, or something marvel type bass SWOOSH sounds. You will get the crackle. Would not recommend, there are other headsets similarly priced without these issues. Revising my review to 1 star, because: Massdrop support ghosted me when I initially asked about an RMA I cannot listen to any music or play games with “bass swoosh” sounds Any “Marvel trailer type BWOOOSH sound” is just buzzes and crackles.

I was excited for these, as an owner of the HD 280 Pros, and the HD 380 Pros, I was so pumped for the 300s to step in and be an upgrade to both. However – upon first listen, and many more listens they just dont have a lot of clarity.

The low mids are horribly muddy, like a bluetooth headset struggles with, and there was no real high end. My HD 280 Pros sounded better!! For half the cost too. So disappointed in Sennheiser, not sure what theyre going for here but these should cost $79 instead of $199.

Wow! What a disgrace! After using the HD 380 Pro for a few years, I was looking for a flat sound by switching to the 300. These are horrible sounding headphones. They are so muddy and lack any low-end / high-end definition.

I bought 2 pairs for mixing live sound. Can’t do that if headphones are not flat / transparent. Sadly they will go on eBay. Really disappointed.

Indossata risulta molto più leggera di una Sennheiser Hd 280 Pro, e quindi alla lunga non stanca. Questo però non va a discapito della robustezza: l’archetto e i supporti a Y dei padiglioni auricolari sono di metallo.

La pressione sulle orecchie, a mio avviso e dopo il paragone con altre cuffie in mio possesso, non è troppo intensa da essere dolorosa, ma neanche troppo blanda da non tener le cuffie in posizione. La trovo davvero ben bilanciata.

Anche il materiale dei tamponi circumaurali e della testa sembrano di buona fattura e qualità. La dimensione dei tamponi auricolari esterna è di circa 10 cm, mentre il diametro interno a disposizione delle orecchie è di circa 5 cm.

Essendo circolari, le prime due o tre volte che la si usa potrebbero dare un po’ fastidio (le Hd Hd 280 Pro sono ovali e racchiudono meglio l’orecchio), ma poi ci si fa l’abitudine. La distanza delle due spine (Trs e Xlr) del cavetto sdoppiato, permette di raggiungere due prese montate dalla stessa parte che non siano più distanti tra loro di circa 25-28 cm.

Bisogna considerate questo aspetto se si intende collegarle direttamente ad un mixer; altrimenti, come ho fatto io, bisogna ricorrere ad un cavetto di prolunga per uno dei due connettori. La qualità audio riprodotta è l’ideale per il parlato, non per il monitoraggio della musica: la banda passante è davvero troppo ristretta per questo utilizzo.

Il microfono ha un bel guadagno: si sente davvero forte; ed è più che adatto per il parlato (ma non per il canto). Il gooseneck non è lughissimo ma permette di tenerlo leggermente a lato della bocca in una posizione ottima per il parlato.

Ora le note dolenti. Il supporto del gooseneck al padiglione è fisso. Non si può ruotare sopra la testa. Rende anche difficile il trasporto della cuffia in una custodia per cuffie che non sia a sacchetto senza piegare moltissimo il gooseneck.

Inoltre, almeno sulla mia cuffia, le saldature dal connettore Xlr non sono state fatte in modo molto professionale; funzionano, ma sembrano realizzate di fretta e furia e male. Visto il prezzo, quindi, è una gran cuffia adatta alla videoconferenza , costruita con materiali di qualità ed ergonomica.

Davvero difficile chiedere di più. La consiglio.

I loved my Samson Airline 77, with QE AH1 headset, so it was natural, when the receiver failed, to replace it with another one. Now I have the AH7 headset which has been redesigned and I am not pleased.

The battery cover must be removed to access the mic power button and with no “off” position, I am removing the cover and battery every time I teach. I feel it is only a matter of time before the cover breaks or I lose it or the battery.

Too much fiddling!.

I teach a BARRE fitness class which requires a lot of voice cues. This headset worked immediately right out of box. I just received it so that is only reason I gave it a 4 but it can easily be a 5. I purchased extra accessories for our multiple teachers who teach HIIT cardio.

I have been using the Airline wireless for many years. This is my third. Easy installation and setup, with very little adjustments from stereo to stereo at various fitness clubs. Follow the directions in the booklet.

I absolutely love these headphones and what they do for the price point they are being sold at. I use these for podcast and general recording along with my other microphones and recording gear. Great product and quality makeup for a price that probably would be much more for other products.

I’ve seen plenty of headsets that are selling in the 150 to 200 dollar range that I don’t feel would be any better or much substantial difference in the quality of the product. These are well made communications headphones with the mic and everything sounds great from listening to audio via Sirius or Spotify or even my own music collection via the computer.

Will be doing more recording using these for podcasting and general recording quality. Great little product at a fair price and sounds good listening. I could have spent 200 bucks on a Sennheiser or Audio Technica type of headset not to mention Heil gear which I already have but this is a nice little piece to the collection.

I also own one of the Heil headsets and this one is just about the same quality and sound at much less.

In a communications (ham radio) application this is a comfortable headset with good sound reproduction. Earpads are soft and conformable. Used with a Kenwood TS-590 they worked fine. I did not evaluate the microphone.

It is a powered mic and with radios without power to the mic connector require a battery power source. Other reviews indicate it doe work fine; but that’s an extra box I just don’t want to deal with.

I will be keeping these around to use as headsets only in place of the old Kenwood HS-5. Just wish they had a dynamic (or other unpowered) mic.

I used this unit on an FT-991a ham transceiver. The mic is very hot so I had to turn the mic gain on my radio down from 50 to 8. The ear cups are large enough so that my entire ear fits inside making it comfortable to wear with glasses and for long periods of time.

These do not block out all of the outside noise but that isn’t a problem in my environment. Sound quality good. I made an interface box for this mic and a foot control to plug into. The interface box plugs into the radio where the mic plugs in.

I was able to get mic audio, Push-To-Talk, and voltage to power the mic from the mic jack on the radio. I understand that there are adapters available to use these headphones/mic with some ham radio rigs.
