I like the style of this adapter because it incorporates a short length of cable to the part that you plug your HDMI cable into. That’s because the adapters without a cable can end up being subjected to a lot of stress depending upon where you put your laptop.

This is not an “external graphics card” like the USB 3. 0 adapter that startech sells. This is truly an “adapter” which is why you don’t need any drivers for windows, also why it’s so inexpensive compared to the other one.

I tried to use this but the same issue occurred, that is because it is using the same bus that the dock uses and for some reason there is a resolution limit on the hdmi port when both display ports are being used.

USB-C is an amazing connector, and this cable extends that capability. I have used this from hotel rooms to conference rooms, it always works perfectly no matter what I plug it in to. Display quality is excellent, never had to adjust a thing or install any drivers.

The length is perfect (though I originally thought 10 feet was excessive) and the connectors are well made and easy to work with. I highly recommend keeping the bag to coil the cable while traveling, to avoid kinks and excessive bending.

Dex cable i bought it was for Samsung Tab t515. There is no use of this cable. Its not working as expected. However, works for mobiles with Dex feature. No internet is required.

My video card on CPU went out so I was stuck without a computer for a few days. I thought it’d be a good time to try out Samsung DeX. Boy was I surprised! DeX was smoother and faster than my desktop computer! It exceeded my expectations.

Just plug up the USB-C to hdmi cable and it boots up in seconds. There was only one app that I had on my Note 9 that didn’t work in DeX mode and that was a bummer. But if you run the DeX app in developer mode you can run virtually any app.

I wouldn’t recommend for the new Mac Mini M1. The cable works great but I get random screen blackouts that happen around 8 times a day. The screen loses signal for a couple of seconds. The problem probably isn’t with the cable just Apples new silicone chip design, maybe eventually they’ll have software update.

Bought a MacBook Pro with USB-C ports and no vieeo output. Bought with it the Apple USB-C to HDMI adapter to drive my 4K TV that I use as a montor. The Apple product was total garbage with intermittent operation, tearing of the image, and useless to do work on.

Since then I tried multiple other USB-C to HDMI adapters to run the TV in 4K resolution with similar results (although the worst what the one I bought at the Apple store. ) This adapter works perfectly.

I have tested this USB-C to HDMI dongle on several Lenovo laptops and my Galaxy S8 phone, with different 4k TV’s, monitors and projectors without any issues. The dongle comes in a large zip logs bag without any padding or instructions.

It must be a very durable product to bounce around a zip lock bag without any issues. The dongle is about the length of a pen and the larger HDMI end makes up about half the length. The HDMI end is made of shiny black plastic which was scratched all over within minutes of handling it.

The cable and USB-C end are made of premium soft plastic and the cable is flexible while remaining sturdy. When I connected the dongle to my computer or phone it was immediately detected and started working within 5 to 10 seconds on first attempt then about 2-3 seconds on subsequent attempts.

No installation was need and I didn’t even need to click ok to anything. This is a great dongle, by far my favorite USB-C adaptor and try to keep with me as much as possible. I have started leaving it in my jacket pocket permanently as it works well for sharing my phone screen.

Needed this to hook up my personal laptop to my external monitor (which was already hooked to a dock with my work laptop through a different port) Does the job with no fuss! However, do think it’s a bit pricey as similar products are available from other retailers for much less; however, stuck to PB tech because of past experience.

Horrible Cable!!! Stopped working in less than 2 weeks. Because of the return policy from Best Buy, I was not able to return it or replace it. I had to contact the manufacturer directly and they offered me a replace BUT I have to pay for shipping.

Now this cable didn’t cost me $38, will cost me $48, plus no warranty that it is going to work. Really bad experience, I expected more from the brand (because wasn’t cheap) and also from Best Buy to exchange me the cable since it was defective in 2 weeks!! Not buying this brand again.

I often use both a Macbook Pro 2017 and a Lenovo Chromebook Duet which only have one USB C port respectively. Being ultraportable, finding a single plug to go directly from my laptops into a projector I use (The Apollo Nebula) is important.

Before this plug I had used a dongle on both then a basic HDMI plug but really wanted more seamlessness and quick transitions. This allows me to watch movies and do work on my ceiling as I’m laying in bed.

The Cable will work for the most part, but it lacks the flexibility, and apparent QA/certifications of lesser priced models from groups like Cable matters. Currently in use through a Surface Dock to a 1440p monitor, and will drop out, or not come back resuming from a timeout/screen lock requiring a removal and plugin to bring the monitor back.

It’s twin for the second monitor, a cable matters does not exhibit this curiosity. Does it work? Yes, but at $35 for a cable, I expected a much better experience.

Typically we need to purchase a USB-C to HDMI adapter and then use a separate HDMI cable – now they are combined into one! Works nicely with both Apple and Windows laptops. Not only less expensive but also less messy on the desk.

In my opinion cables are either good or bad, there isn’t any middle ground. This is a good cable. It construction stands up to use by my college kids without a problem. It worked out of the box without issue.

This cable works phenomenally. Oddly enough I have another cable from this company and it’s significantly less reliable and not always detected. Based on my experience with the USB-C to HDMI cable through, it has worked really well and freed space on my desk which was otherwise wasted by a dongle.

I have been using this product for week and tested with several phones and computers. As long as they support display out using USB-C then they worked without any issues. The adaptor is very small and portable, about the same length of my phone.

It is made of plastic with a nice shiny finish on the HDMI end and soft plastic cord for the USB-C end. It came in a zip lock bag that most StarTech products come in without any instructions. From the package I didn’t know that it would only work with DisplayPort over USB-C devices until I connected to a Google Pixel phone and investigated why it wasn’t working.

It did work successfully with a Galaxy S8 and several laptops with USB-C built-in. Once connected the display started working within seconds. This is a great small travel adaptor for using HDMI over USB-C, as long as your device supports the display out over USB-C.

Successfully able to get 4k 60fps output from my Dell XPS 15 (9500 model) using this adapter and a high bandwidth hdmi cable. Awesome and far exceeds the ability of the hdmi adapter Dell supplied which could only manage 30fps.

TLDR: Expensive cables are a worthy investment, depending on your setup! Had multiple cheap HDMI cables from various online stores etc. to work with an adapter from my Intel MacBook Pro with USB-C to my ASUS 1080p monitor.

The on-going issue I had with all of these was a random black screen occurring from signal loss (either none for several hours, or dozens per hour) that lasted 3 seconds each. As you could imagine it drove me insane over the last several months! After many hours of researching, testing through process of elimination and then live chatting with ALOGIC (based in Melbourne), the issue I had all along was interference related (likely due to Wi-Fi and multiple bluetooth devices) and if I had this cable with ‘TPE shielding standard’ inside of it, this would eliminate all interference.

Typing this review over 72hrs after starting to use it, I have not had a single black screen, flicker or a single bad pixel. In other words, it’s perfect! Only point to note is the silver HDMI end of the cable gets quite hot, likely also due to the indicator light.

If you’re paying this much for a cable, you might as well pay the few extra dollars to get double the length, for extra versatility long-term. I’m confident this cable is going to last me several years (even with a future computer setup), just from these few days of use (vs.

I bought this recently and it doesn’t work properly. When it is plugged into a monitor it glitches and the screen flickers and goes into the wrong position eg: the bottom of the screen is at the top.

and flickering green lines and dots appear all over the screen. It takes about 14 tries of unplugging the cable and plugging it back in to make it work. But when it is connected some full screen games make it go weird again and it also flickers occasionally.

I have borrowed another cable and tried it and it works fine. Some of the time it works fine but other times it doesn’t. It might be faulty but I will return it and get a different cable of the same brand soon and I will post an update if it worked or didn’t work soon.

Too pricy for the quality, I would just go with Apple original in the future. Frustrating as it started having issues with the contacts from a few weeks after I bought it. Now, if I am lucky it works once every 100 times I try to get the angle right and plug it in in a specific way.

Works great. It’s much better having the monitor directly connected to the laptop. The hub isn’t as warm as it was before. When I got the laptop, I was surprised by only having USB-C connections. It had been a scramble to get my office setup again.

If you use the Wraith Stealth cooler, it touches and puts pressure on the RAM. At least it does with Corsair Vengeance LPX but I assume it’s the same with most RAM with heat spreaders so alternate cooler may be required.
