I am using this as for online classroom applications, and this device excels in this role. The problem I faced was how to switch between a multiple video and audio sources (i. e. a camera on me as I deliver a lecture and a PowerPoint presentation, videos, etc on a computer source) rapidly and seamlessly, eliminating the OK, hang on, let me share my screen segment of the program.

This device does it flawlessly. Once you learn it, the controls are extremely intuitive. Being able to rapidly shift from the PowerPoint to a shot of me to secondary AV aids in a fairly rapid-fire manner creates a dramatically more engaging and dynamic online classroom experience for my students, and having the ability to control the picture-in-picture location and quickly adjust or mute audio levels is also helpful.

The device is not perfect. The software is effective, but inelegant. The hardware is a little on the plastic-y side and gets quite hot after a few hours of use. A power switch is noticeably absent, as is a printed manual.

Audio inputs besides 1/8 TRS would be welcome. A hardware audio output level monitor would remove a lot of guesswork. All that said, this does exactly what I wanted it to do, does it reliably, and is simple enough to allow me to focus on my lecture- all at a very reasonable cost.

I would never instruct online again without it.

If you’ve used anything by Blackmagic, you’ve probably said to yourself, It’s amazing. but. That’s exactly what you get with the ATEM Mini Pro. We used it as a live stream switcher for an event – two cameras and one laptop – and we were absolutely amazed at how well it worked for what we did.

Once we had it hooked up to stream out, we were able to run the stream just by hooking into the house network, no other hardware needed. Except. when we needed to luma key some titles. We realized we couldn’t switch them on without using the laptop.

Nor could we adjust the audio gains. And the keying would lose its settings when we turned it on and off. And the framerate would jump around. And. It works. It’s great for the money. It will probably create issues.

Pretty much everything you’d expect from a Blackmagic product.

Fantastic little splitter! I purchased a Samsung 4K tv but I could not get 4K output from my FireTV Cube second gen 4K. I went to display settings on the cube and it stated that I was not using a HDCP 2.

2 HDMI port. It stated that because I wasn’t sending output to a HDCP port, the cube would only output 1080P. I’m sending my FireTV output into an older Yamaha AVR that works beautifully. What a load of bs! Just because the movie industry is freaked out about copy protection, they want me to spend $500.

00 to replace my perfectly good receiver for one that has a HDCP 2. 2 HDMI port. I did my research and found this little gem. I sent the cube output into this splitter and sent one output to my tv and the other output into my Yamaha for audio.

VOILA!! I now receive 4K content without having to spend $500. 00 and going through all the work involved in setting up a new AVR. Picture and audio through this little switch is great. no complaints.

Works very well for my application. Splits the signal from my AppleTV with 4K 60Hz resolution and fully supports HDR and passes it on to my 4K projector. The other output goes to my older non-4K receiver just for audio output.

My receiver’s own HDMI video output had stopped working but this allows me to just use the receiver to play the audio, which still works well. I had tried various audio extractors but they did not work well or at all compared to this device.

A key feature of this device versus others is it’s ability to supply a lower resolution signal to my receiver while still supporting full 4K to my projector. I have used it for many months now with no degradation in quality or performance.

In our house, we enjoy watching the same output (typically sports) on four different televisions simultaneously out of the same Xfinity/Comcast DVR. One of the 4K monitors (Kitchen TV) has a 75 foot run of a relatively high quality, yet non-active, HDMI.

WIth the prior model, HD-104, I was forced to downgrade the DVR output signal to 720P or else, I’d get black screens or constant blinking. I’ve played around with many HDCP 2. 2 devices for the past year trying to solve my problem, but this box worked instantly with the best case – [email protected] DVR setting.

I’m using setting A on the box, which seemed logical to try first. I was about to buy an active 75 foot HDMI cable which would have been a pain to re-route through my basement ceiling, but fortunately that was not necessary.

My only regret is that I wish I had bought this months ago.

Cheaper matrix that’s easy to set up and supports different media protocols. A little clunky as you are adding one more remote, but allows for greater flexibility of over all system, and it’s easily integrated into the routine of powering things up to use.

There is a button on the unit for each output so you can change modes without the controller. Hooked to an LG and a Samsung. You are able to add/change input-output configuration while other in-out is being used with no affect on in-use configuration.

When one input is already being used, adding another input to a different output seems to take upwards of a minute to “recognize” and be sent to the output. Example: currently playing Xbox and roommate turns on ps4 on different output.

Ps4 media is not sent to other tv for a duration of time. Powering the matrix off and on speeds up the output recognition. It seems like the xbox doesn’t experience this when roles are switched so it may be specific to devices used as input.

PC (W10) takes some time but not as long as Ps4. Overall I’m happy with my purchase and feel like I got what I paid for. So far, a reliable cheaper unit that covers the bases. Has been in use for hours at a time, daily, for just over a month.

I have 3 inputs used (Xbox, Ps4, Pc) with one left open for when friends bring their own devices or I need another monitor (tv) for my laptop.

I like being able to connect 1 input to 2 outputs (TVs) and I like being able to switch which output I send signal. For instance I can connect input 1 (ps5 for this example) to either my tv in living room or tv in den or both of I so choose.

I only use one input device but you can have two if you choose. The only negative I give is my input 1 wouldn’t pass video, only audio. I believe the input 1 port on mine was defective but oh well input two worked perfect and that’s all I needed.

I purchased one. Love it. I needed more inputs and outputs, so I bought a second switch. This is an excellent switch, low profile, and very important for me, ALL the inputs and outputs are on the back.

The Fosmon Bi-Directional Switcher is a 2×1 HDMI switch that can serve a few purposes. One such purpose is allowing someone with several HDMI-capable devices to connect said devices to a TV or monitor that may not normally have enough space.

For this, the Fosmon works well. There is no need for installation or directions, one simply needs to plug in the input and output HDMI and then they are set. Depending on the device, there can be some trouble switching from one device to the next, but this is easily remedied by unplugging and re-plugging the device that is having trouble into the switcher.

One other purpose is that it can be used to save space and organize cords, which can be helpful for those who have cluttered spaces. The final purpose is similar to the first. As the switch is bi-directional, it can also be used to connect one device to two monitors or televisions.

The switcher is incredibly simple, for better or for worse. It does not have many capabilities other than to switch between devices. Whether this actually detracts from the product depends far more on the consumer than it does anything else, but for what it advertises, it does its job well for about $18.

Awesome product great price (plz make an 8×8 for $350ish??). Easy setup and control. Running 4k hdr 60hz (all tv speakers) and the downscaler works well for the 1080p tvs on the setup after some color tweaking.

The 4k looks as good as ever, no quality loss. Slim design, lightweight, low heat! The remote will be pretty much useless and you will want an IR blaster (rec app based ones) or something if you expect to change inputs from other rooms, but most devices like this suffer that same common problem.

Works like it says (which is exceptional for these things on Amazon). Has a good auto feature: if 1 input is sent to two monitors of different resolutions, the lower supported resolution for both monitor will be picked.

As soon as the lower resolution monitor or TV is turned off, the signal will automatically refresh to the higher resolution signal for the remaining monitor. The HDMI splitter from this same brand did NOT have this behavior for me unfortunately (signals would randomly disappear when turning outputs on and off) which is why I had to shelve twice the price for this matrix when I don’t even use the second input.

Pros: This switch delivers great pictures and sounds to multiple displays including my computer monitor which other similar products failed to do. Cons: It does cost 3 times the other products that I’ve tried.

It loses sound for 5 seconds at a time about twice an hour. The sound comes right back by itself. Less than 2 weeks into using the product, it is beginning to suffer from sync issues and loses the picture and sound, where I have to either shutdown the switch and turn it back on, or pull the power from the unit to restore it functionality.

I’m still under the Christmas return policy where I can still return the unit. If it is going to fail, I hope it fails during the return period and not soon after for the price I paid.

This item is amazing. I have HDMI receiver and i wanted to control my HDMI separately. Works like a charm. Plugged in my Digital Optical through the splitter and my receiver and got sound and now I can control it with the remote control at ease.

I have 2 monitors and I haven’t set up the other monitor yet but it is very convenient to have 2 outputs. Very happy with it. Well worth the money and got it very fast. Also looks really good set up on my desk.

I’ve been using matrix switches for years and have upgraded them as home A/V specs have changed. This Orei is my third matrix box. I can confirm with Xbox one X that ARC works, 4K works, HDR10 works, 60fps works and Atmos sound works.

Which is exactly what I bought it to do, my previous matrix didn’t have all these features. One thing that I found annoying though is that the OREI has EDID. Which isn’t a bad thing, but it will require both your TVs to have the same capabilities.

Like for me, my side TV was 4K but no HDR and my primary screen was 4K HDR10. So the xbox one x was reporting that i had no HDR10 capabilities available even if the side TV was not showing xbox one x content.

This means i now need to go buy a more fully featured side screen, thankfully those have really come down in price. So you might need to take this into consideration for your environment. If one of your TVs is a potato like my side TV, it could impact your overall gaming capabilities until you upgrade the screen to match your primary.

Overall though pretty happy with the box. IT does what it needs to and has all the capabilities for current gen Xbox one X gaming both for audio and video.

First and foremost, this is a simple solution for someone looking to utilize one screen with 2 input devices. A nice crazy simple interface. 2 inputs, 2 buttons to select. Nothing else needed. The unit doesn’t need external power or batteries, which was THE selling point for me.

I don’t remember if instructions were included, but honestly if you need instructions to plug in 3 HDMI cables (2 inputs and 1 output), then you’re a lost cause. The 2 selector buttons do make audible clicks.

The buttons are clear, but when selected, you see an orange plate under the button letting you known you’ve activated the specific input. The buttons do feel a bit on the cheap side. I did test audio briefly, I got 3 channels to work.

Did not test beyond that as this will only be used for presentation purposes computer or laptop to large television. There was no way to mount the device, so if you plan on hiding this under a desk or table, you’ll have to rig something up.

That aside, the price, the performance, the simplicity, 9/10. i purchased this unit to isolate a satellite receiver with a buggy hdmi implementation from the telly, when not in use, as this receiver wrecks havoc with cec functions. it does a good job for hdmi switching, but sadly, it does not fully isolate devices with buggy implementation.

i still lose all the benefits of cec even when the receiver is deselected when i totally disconnect it, automatic port switching, remote turn on, etc. reappear. from some googling, it appears that most (?) hdmi bugs are related to grounding (but i could be wrong).

consequently, i am assuming this switch still leaves the hdmi ground pins connected when a device is deselected. to make myself clear, this is not a negative review for this product. it does what it is supposed to do, i.

e. : switching between hdmi devices. it simply does not compensate for devices with faulty hdmi ports. you are still better off plugging/unplugging your device to avoid problems.

I specifically sought one of these out to solve the failure of the HDMI port on my aging 50”plasma. And, as I exclusively use this as a large monitor for streaming content through my computer, without a solution to bring it this video signal would render it useless, a drop in picture quality was both expected, and acceptable.

So, i was presently surprised to find this converter delivered a picture with no noticeable drop in quality from what the HDMI provided before it failed. So, why the four stars? Well for the money, I don’t have a lot of confidence in it lasting very long.

and would plan on including it with a portable kit if any kind. The quality of the components used just isn’t there, to withstand multiple connect and disconnect activity. That no HDMI is cord included, is understandable, but having the ones they do provide be different lengths, when the expected run is the same distance for both, begs explanation.

Even though the Power Supply to the unit has a bulky adapter. it still uses special connector, you have to keep track of, instead of doing us the favor of powering it via a universal USB. And failing this, at least make the one they do provide long enough to make it from the wall to your TV set.

I’ve been through 2 other brand HDMI splitter in this similar configuration. to split a single AV source to 2 television screens in different rooms. The 1st we had worked for a couple of years, then failed.

Then I ordered another but different brand (forgot which). That simply just had issues; audio cutoff, video worked randomly. Seller sent replacement and itndud the same thing. Returned that immediately.

Then I ordered this one, based purely on user reviews. So far so good! Plugged everything in, powered it up and it works as intended. I’ll update if it fails. I deducted 1 full star because I still needed to buy a USB power block, which costs me more and had to order and wait for a USB AC power plug.

It only comes with a USB cable.

Works perfectly! I wasn’t sure if I duplicate the display into my Artist 12 XP-Pen, will the pen still work and it did! Very happy with the product. Using it for over a month and no issues!This was my situation.

My laptop only has 1 HDMI port. From my laptop, I can set the HDMI port as an extended display 2 which is a 42 inch display. I want to connect my Artist 12 XP-pen so when I draw on it, it will show up on display 2.

I connected my laptop HDMI port to the input of the Orei splitter. Orei splitter has 2 HDMI outputs. I connected one to my XP-Pen and the other to my 42inch display. I was not sure if the pen would work when it is being duplicated because the pen as to interact with the laptop but it worked perfectly.

Now I can do live sketches during Zoom meeting and see it on a large screen. Super cool!.

Just went to U-verse and had situation where we had a 32″ LED TV that was located in next room but only about 10 ft away from our main Uverse box and 60″ LEDTV. In the prior setup, my GF had just used a coaxial splitter from directv box to supply a signal to the small TV.

Buying an extra box was an option but had the minimum $8/month forever pricetag and really wasn’t really necessary as this 2nd TV could be controlled from 3 steps away if needed. Also Installation of this box would have been a larger process, involving AT&T tech to come back out and reconfigure original install to move the wireless box to this location.

Coaxial splitting to 2nd TV was no longer an option, only choice was 5 wire component video feed (decided wiring this choice would be way too bulky) or try a HDMI splitter. When I researched HDMI splitters, I realized it was theoretically possible to go with low $$ end and maybe get lucky but I read way too many horror stories about pigtail style and lower cost powered splitters.

A couple of other products from Monoprice or other vendors in this $range (or slightly cheaper) either had an issue with power indicator light being bright enough to illuminate airports, far more reported problems especially with product life or having to be manually reset too often.

I talked via chat with Monoprice rep via live chat (who was helpful, informative and NOT pushy) and after researching his suggestions I decided this was my best shot at getting a high quality, dependable, hassle free HDMI splitter for reasonable money.

Again – there were horror story reviews connected to every splitter I researched – even this one but out of the few HDMI splitters I found in the $30-$60 range, this model seemed the best for my need and this one didn’t have the complaints about lighting up the room.

I could perhaps have probably gotten away with a lesser quality product because the 2nd TV was so close but I knew it was possible I might use it in a more demanding situation down the road. It worked well after initial install and hasn’t had one problem since.

The initial install, I did NOT follow the directions explicitly (I think I turned on TV set 2 before TV 1) anyways long story short – the only quirk about HDMI splitters is the plug-in and power up sequence is important.

Once I did it the right way, it worked perfectly and continues to be an excellent investment that will pay for it self in 8 months counting the super high quality cables I purchased with it. Monoprice served this 1st time customer well and I will be back.

CONS: Power plug at outlet is a largest one of about 6 (TV, Uverse Box, Uverse Modem, Blu-Ray, Phone, Splitter) going into the surge protector power strip perhaps it could be smaller?.

I have used this switcher for three years with great success. Recently, I upgraded to a new pioneer SC-81 A/V receiver with HDMI v2. 0 with new high end 24gauge cables. After the upgrade the switcher would no longer pass any surround sound, it would only pass a stereo signal.

Switched out the switcher with a new switcher and still could not get any surround sound. Removed the switcher from the system and everything worked correctly. After trying two different switchers and different cables I learned the switcher would not work with HDMI v2.

I have two of these and compared to all the other ones on the market, this one is the most stable and reliable one I have found thus far. The price is very hard to beat. I mentioned that it is 100% HDCP compliant.

meaning, it passes every/any signal through to your device. not to be confused with HDCP stripping this is not for that. you need the DVI-Toslink Converter which I also own from Monoprice. I have over 20 years experience in Professional Audio and Video.

I have no tolerance to cheap gimmicky garbage, so I do quite a bit of research before making purchases. I can honestly say that if you look no further and purchase this splitter, you will not regret it.

This has been one of the best purchases I have made on Monoprice. PROS: Picture perfect duplication. Runs cooler than the small $20 competitors. Reliably splits the signal from my PS3 and PS4 to my LCD TV and computer which produce razor-sharp images on my TV and my gameplay recordings.

Wow! Plug and Play setup. It is truly 100% HDCP compliant (read my review at the bottom). Strong and solid metal body construction. CONS: None. I would have liked it in black but this is just my opinion.

My pre-processor (Outlaw Audio 975) has always had trouble passing through a Bluray 3D video signal to my Optoma HD25 projector. Any attempt to play 3D video would cause the projector to not sync to the HDMI video signal and display the 3D video.

However, if I bypassed the 975 and connected the Bluray player directly to the projector, 3D video worked fine. Thus, I purchased this product in an attempt to get the video working while being able to send the audio to the 975.

All attempts at this failed; I tried connecting the 975 to output 1 and the projector to output 2 (attempt #1), then flipping the EDID switch (attempt #2), power cycling the Bluray player and splitter between every attempt, then swapping the outputs (975 to output 2 and projector to output 1) (attempt 3).

and then flipping the switch back (attempt #4) – all without success. In some cases the projector failed to detect that a 3D bluray player was connected, and in other cases the 3D video worked fine but the splitter failed to send the 975’s audio capabilities to the Bluray player, so only stereo audio worked instead of the Bluray’s DTS HD MA.

In summary, I wasn’t able to get 3D video and DTS HD MA audio to the 975 working simultaneously. In the end, I discovered if I switched input sources on my 975 away from the Bluray player to another source – and then back to the Bluray player, eventually the projector would sync to the Bluray player’s 3D video signal and everything worked (without needing this splitter).

However, it would have been nice if it had worked since it would have been a more reliable solution. The EDID switch being set to “merge” mode seems like it should take the “best” capabilities of each output (i.

e. 3D video capability from the projector and DTS HD MA audio from the receiver) and send that to the Bluray player, but this didn’t work for me, unfortunately. If your two output devices have similar capabilities, this splitter will probably work fine for you, but not if you’re trying to do something similar to what I was trying.

Out of the blue my roku and 6 yr old vizio m55 tv would no longer play video. An HDCP warning would be displayed. I swapped hdmi cables, tried a different roku, reset devices etc. Still had the HDCP warning and no video from Roku.

Not wanting to through out a perfectly good working TV for a newer model I tried this splitter. It corrected my HDCP issue and video plays fine from my roku to TV. I highly recommend this if your having the same issue as I did.

It does what it’s supposed to and more and does it without getting hot like many other brands I’ve used. I bought it because my Granddaughter’s PS4 wouldn’t display an image on her TV through a 25 foot extended HDMI cord.

With this device at the end of the extension closest to the TV, it does. It recognizes signals the TV doesn’t and changes it to a signal the TV can. I thought I would give it a try based on past experience using this type of device with a PS3 to get around HDCP for recording gaming on a capture card.

I don’t know the science behind it. I just knew it would work. I’ve also tested it as a splitter and it does produce two images in sync with each other with almost no latency.

I love this TV. Picture quality is outstanding. One thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that it only has 2 HDMI ports. I have to use a Firestick for my local streaming service as they do not have a supported app on Samsung.

As I have a sound bar as well, that leaves no ports for any other external device. I got a switch box, but when I turn on the Firestick from the switchbox the picture setting (e. g. natural, standard, etc.

) that I set it to does not kick in and the colors are washed out. Once I open something on the tv then the picture setting kicks in and is OK when I go back to the Firestick. To avoid this I have now plugged my Firestick into the 2nd HDMI port and unplugged the switchbox with the bluray and region free DVD players.

If I want to watch a disk then I will just switch them out (the picture issue doesn’t seem to be affected by the players). A pain, but as I don’t use the players nearly as much as the Firestick, no big issue.

Also – having trouble connecting to my Alexa. I see the tv in my app but when I try to connect it says it can’t. Same issue when trying to sync up with the Firestick so it may be something I am doing wrong.

One more thing. When trying to install, the Best Buy guy couldn’t attach my sound bar to my current mount as the holes for this TV are higher up than my old one. Keep in mind you may have to get a new mount too depending on your situation.

It was too late for me to do this so I went on Amazon and found a book stand that works really well to hold up the sound bar (see photo).

This is a much appreciated peripheral for my new TV. I do a lot of gaming and wanted to hook up multiple consoles that run at 1080p to the TV. This splitter allowed me to accomplish this. It’s nice as I can configure the picture settings for all three devices to one HDMI port and then toggle between the three devices using the button on the splitter all while not having to plug and unplug my devices from the TV multiple times.

I like how there is no remote with this device as I have plenty of devices that run on batteries now and appreciate not having to add another such device to my setup. My complaints with this device are pretty small but it would have been nice had it came with an HDMI cable for hook-up to the TV.

Since it didn’t, I had to get an extra HDMI cable when i purchased it which was an unforeseen expense. It also needs to be plugged in which is a relatively minor complaint but it does take up another spot on my surge strip.

Finally, the blue lights on the front of the device are on all the time which can be a little obnoxious at times. Overall, I am very satisfied with this device, though. Thanks.

I really like this splitter. I wish Insignia made a 4 or 5-port version. The one thing I can say is a disadvantage is that it does not have HDCP decoding. So, if you are looking to stream PS3 games using an Elgato capture device, you will have to use another device between the PS3 and this splitter.

I find this super annoying for when I want to use my PS5 for watching Bluray movies, since HDCP has to be enabled for this to work, and my current setup for PS5 is through an Elgato capture device because I stream gameplay.

Upsetting my desk and having to unplug this, and plugging the PS5 directly into the back of my monitor is a task and a half because of the configuration of my desk. So, I had to make another purchase of a 2-port splitter that does the HDCP decoding so I can use it as a decoding passthrough before it connects to this 3 port hub.

I’m sure there are other devices that force HDCP that may not work through this splitter natively, so that is something to keep in mind when considering this particular splitter.

Works well and allows me to capture/stream footage from the Nintendo Switch while playing on the TV. 1. ) Although quite expensive, the splitter probably uses the same internals as the cheaper devices on Home Essentials Direct (indicated by the overly bright blue LEDs).

2. ) A lot of the cheaper splitters have problems with overheating. I can’t see that being an issue with this one as the device is made from solid aluminium, seems to dissipate heat well, and never gets more than slightly warm to the touch.

Startech splitter performed where other splitters failed. HDMI networks are super sensitive to signal degradation. Good quality splitters and cables are paramount. Many cheep splitters claim amplified outputs.

I buy splitters in batches of 10. Usually I find 3-4 splitters in every batch that dont work at all. Not with Startech. Every splitter works, even in network where others failed.

To use this HDMI splitter you need hdmi cables with high speed capacity. Yes, hdmi have speed rating. You must use an hdmi cable rated at least 4k or higher. I used this to show my nintendo switch oled on 2 tvs.

The cable provided with the nintendo was NOT powerful enough, so i used an 8k rated hdmi cable and the hdmi splitter worked. ALL the connected hdmi cables need to be high speed (4k or greater). This device works by taking 1 input (example a dvd player or game console) and splits the signal onto 2 tvs or monitors.

This is Not for dual screen (where each screen acts independently). This just displays an image on 2 tvs.

As others have noted, the splitter can be a little touchy at times, but overall, it generally did what is was supposed to do. We only used ours once a week for a couple hours at most (i. e. , ~ 2 hours each use), and it went bad after about 15 months.

It could be a workmanship issue with the USB power connection, but I am not positive. We did not need to unplug the item or move it, i. e. , it stayed pretty much in the same location/position once we installed it.

However, when the signal started dropping more regularly, we think we traced it back to the USB as wiggling the connection seems to do something (and it’s not the cord). We bought Rocketfish because it’s a brand we know and expected to last, but we could have purchased one of the disposable no name brands and gotten the same life out of it for half the cost.

Just finished setting up my home office, plugged my two new monitors into the splitter via the HDMI Output 1 & 2, then Input HDMI into my Laptop only to find out that this 2 Output HDMI splitter will not allow a Laptop to split screens or “Extended Display” to two different monitors.

Ie. Showing a Laptop, Montior 1 AND Monitor 2, all seperate screens. It will only recognize 1 additional montor thus only allowing you to mirror the displays. So, don’t be misled by the description of the product.

you CANNOT run two seperate displays from this splitter. you can only display 1 additional image that can be MIRRORED to another display. DO NOT PURCHASE FOR SETTING UP A 3 MONITOR SYSTEM IF YOU WANT TO HAVE 3 SEPERATE SCREENS!.

This product is a high quality device, suitable for all those, who want four times different 4K resolutions at 60 Hz. Regarding its size, a very practical product, indeed. Congratulation!

Easy to hook up and works fine. I’ve got it connected to three computers and all of them show up quickly on my monitor while using one keyboard and mouse. I use the button on the KVM switch to select which computer to use since it seems to select them the quickest way.

It truly supports 4K [email protected] Hz (yes! 60 Hertz! – Not just 30 Hertz as most HDMI KVMs come with), 4:4:4 HDMI switching, and works well with my Windows desktop (w/ NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060) and my 2018 Apple MacBook Pro (via USB-C to [email protected] Hz HDMI adapter).

While I truly appreciate the 3. 5 mm Audio Out output option (in addition to audio over HDMI) I wished it came with a control volume option.

The Kinivo 501BN HDMI switch is easy to use but I must qualify my answer regarding “Good Value”. When eliminating the need for additional monitors it is indeed a good value but the quality of the device is lacking.

On my particular unit the HDMI contact ports were not a good match for the cable ends. This allows the cable to move around enough to lose contact and require a little jiggling to restore video. I had to place the unit in such a way as to prevent other items on my desk from accidentally moving the cable after which everything works OK.

The remote is another issue. It is very poor quality and I expect it to fail long before the main unit. I’m old school and my first similar unit controlled the monitor, mouse and keyboard all of which had to be connected to the base unit.

Even so it was very robust and so well made that after years of abuse it still worked right up to the point that it became obsolete. Never before has the old saying been more true, “They just don’t make things the way they use to.

” Of course it is also true we don’t make most things anymore. And they call this progress. Finally. Given all of the above I would still purchase the Kinivo 501BN because it eliminates the need for additional monitors.

I had previously purchased a much cheaper HDMI switch that seemed to do the trick. That cheap unit would occasionally have issues where the screen/audio would drop for a instant every few min. I added another source device recently and the old cheap switch pretty much turned into a strobe light anytime there was something moving on the screen.

I broke down and spent the money on this Kinivo HDMI switch and it has worked flawlessly since I first hooked it up. I would like to see the ability for it to draw power via USB. I’m running a PC through it so that would be much simpler than having to plug it into the wall.

It should be noted that unlike the cheap switch I bought previously, the Kinivo does not allow any video through at all without external power. This was initially somewhat inconvenient, but now that I’ve dealt with it I couldn’t be happier with its function.

The only other nitpick would be one of aesthetics. I have covered up the majority of the lights with electrical tape as I leave the unit in a visible location and they are a bit bright and distracting.

Realistically, it does such a good job of switching on its own as devices are powered up/down that I haven’t actually needed to use any of the buttons on it, so I could have also just placed it out of site.

Theold adage remains true, you get what you pay for. This switch does exactly as advertised and it does it well. Only the lack of power supply options kept me from giving it a 5/5.

Connects up to 4 sources of A/V to a single Monitor. Switches automatically if single source has signal, otherwise front face membrane buttons select source. Card type remote also works but is pretty short range – about 5 feet for my setup.

Only real gripe is brightness of indicator LEDs on the front – dark room they will blow your eyes away and make watching an ambient light adaptive monitor impossible. My fix, since I am not using the remote, was to bury the switcher behind other components so the LEDs shine at the wall.

I’ve needed an HDMI splitter after mounting my tv to my living room wall. The mount itself caused an issue with being able to access the HDMI ports. This allows me to plug into the one port I can access, and plug my other devices into the splitter.

This product is great for these weird situations. It’s small and lightweight, which is great! I used all 4 ports on the splitter, and initially thought one port was bad, because that device cut in and out.

I swapped them around and realized that it was only functioning if 3 devices were plugged in. With 4, it seemed to be overloaded. Overall I feel like it’s not very reliable using all 4 ports, which is unfortunate.

This Onn 4 device HDMI splitter product sucks and isn’t worth the money. I bought it so that I could hook up my Roku streaming stick, Sony blu-ray player, and Playstation 3 all to my television. This product does NOT support Roku streaming stick.

It does NOT allow signal from the Playstation 3 to pass to the television. So the only thing it does allow to work through it is a basic Sony blu-ray player. This product is a waste of money and a lie to the consumers.

I will NEVER buy another crappy Onn device or product ever again nor would I ever recommend Onn to anyone- NOT even my worst enemies. Complete waste of money.
