20 Best Hdmi Cables For Gaming (2023 Updated)

Bought one to test the quality and ended up replacing the remaining 3 other cables to my flatscreen. (replacing 4 very old BetterCables Silver Serpent 1. 2 cables) The build, feel and performance of the cable is the same and maybe a bit brighter I feel than the cables it replaces as I had to readjust the flatscreen’s tuning down a little to compensate for the cable adjustment.

I’m updating from a many years old HDMI 1. 2 standard to the current 8K HDMI’s, the physical connection on the Silver Serpent 1. 2 has a pair of notches near the base of the connection point that the prevents being fully plugged into newer devices (Nvidia Shield Pro).

I still like the Silver Serpent’s, still think its relevant, but change was needed if the notches will hinder device connectivity. But the brighter image could prove the outgoing cables were getting long in the tooth.

either way I’m satisfied and happy with replacing the cables to current gen standards.

Before purchasing more expensive Monster cables I have a cheeper light cable on my new smart tv. It seems the HDMI receptacle on the back of my TV is very sensitive to the way the cable is plugged in.

I think the extra weight of monster cable compromises the connection. Because the picture blacks out every now and then. Except when I use the cheep cable, the picture never black out with the cheep cable.

The cheep cable is compatible with 4k.

Excellent connectivity, plug and play. I’m very satisfied with this purchase. HDMI does vary in quality. This one has optimal speed and the picture is very clear.

It worked for what I needed it which was connecting my laptop to my tv monitor perfectly!

I recently had a very good Optoma projector bite the dust and happened onto Richersound. com. I was immediately impressed by the 6 YEAR GUARANTEE. My dead Optoma was only 4 yo, so was disappointed that my USA made Optoma was not built to be serviced, so the guarantee sounded good.

Their website was easy to use and provided me with the best online price i could find. The price was still the best, even with the free guarantee on projectors (they didn’t just bump up the price to cover it).

I then discovered my 20+ yo DVD player was not compatible with the new, spiffy Optoma I had already purchased. Long story short, I had a problem with ordering a bit of wrong kit for the new equip (my fault, not theirs), called them up, they got me the right equipment to fix it, explained it all clearly, collected my return for FREE, and I was up in running 24 hrs later.

At first I was not impressed with this cable. I upgraded my Sony High-Speed HDMI to this cable when I bought my new Sony Oled TV and I did not notice much, if any difference at all while streaming Netflix or Hulu.

Then I watched a movie on AppleTV+ and the difference in the clarity and sharpness was staggering. The picture was almost as good as the high resolution time lapse demo footage they play on the screens in the showroom.

I then started testing and with some providers (AppleTV+, YouTubeTV, Prime4K) the difference is quite noticeable with much more detail and sharpness. Perhaps this is not as apparent with streaming that doesn’t stream a great picture to begin with.

So far I would recommend.

With the move to work from Home, I suddenly needed to have an extra monitor for my work PC and I needed to get an HDMI cable. I picked up the Onn 6 foot Black HDMI Cable to connect the extra monitor and it works fantastic.

The HDMI connector is a standard plug and it fit into the female computer port with no problems. The cable itself is pretty thick and feels well made. Both male plugs are wrapped in a thick plastic housing so they are well supported and sturdy.

The quality of the video feed is very good and is reflective of the material used in constructing the cable. The packaging displayed the cable very well for easy inspection and opening it was very easy.

Overall, Onn has done a good job with this product.

I bought these for my new DVD player. Works great and inexpensive. No need to buy the expensive ones, the cheaper ones are just as good as the higher price ones. If you’re in doubt about buying the cheaper ones, just google it, like I did.

No difference at all!.

I have now had the cable for 2 months and it has worked perfectly. When installing the cable it felt sturdy. Seismic shipped it out quickly, I had in 2 days of my order during the pandemic.

Over the years I’ve purchased quite a few HDMI cables, and I’ve occasionally bought high-end models that I’m not exactly sure offer any real benefits. That being said, this Insignia model does the job perfectly, and the picture is amazing on my LG 4K TV.

Compared to some of the expensive models I’ve bought in the past, I cannot tell any difference in picture or sound quality. Everything looks amazing, and I’m starting to regret ever buying “nicer” cables that are probably more hype than substance.

Overall, if you need a good, reliable HDMI cable, this a great option, especially when you consider the price.

Purchased to use as my primary HDMI cable, delivering output from my receiver to my television. The TV in question is a 2021-model OLED. I’ve had no issues and no limitations with this cable. It allows the newest Apple TV 4K to render content in Dolby Vision standards, the current highest output supported by the device.

It permits the PlayStation 5 to output 4K HDR at up to 60Hz. Unless you are positive that you need more than 18Gbps throughput in your HDMI cable, this cable should be plenty good enough.

Well worth it. I bought a gaming monitor that said I needed a displayport to reach at least 165hz while the hdmi could reach 144hz. I wanted to use an hdmi due to my laptop not having a displayport. This did the trick and managed to take full advantage of my laptop and gaming monitor.

It runs at 165hz 🙂 very happy because other hdmi I tried could not go past 60hz. To anyone looking to take advantage of the hz, make sure that the monitor can handle it as well as your pc or laptop.

If your pc and laptop cannot even reach that, then you’re wasting money.

This is a higher quality video cable that I purchased to send video from my 4K Oppo DVD player to a new LG 55 inch 4K TV. The image quality is very impressive with this cable. One comment of note-because of its construction the cable is not as flexible as thinner lower quality cables.

This cable is easier to handle/install if your TV has an hdmi port on the back as opposed to the side. While you can use it on the side it requires bending the cable more and that increases the stress on the cable and the port.

With that said-it’s a trade off I willingly accept for the very high image quality. 5 stars for the cable and 5 stars for the Abt price I paid for it.

So, I took the supplied PS Audio hdmi cable out of the box of my preposterously expensive but equally preposterously wonderful sounding PS Audio DS Memory Player and connected it via I2S to I2S of my DS DAC (whilst wearing the also-supplied silly white gloves).

Sounded pretty damn good. A few days later, I took this AQ Carbon hdmi cable and replaced the PSA cable, because Kevin insisted I buy this thing and damn if the knucklehead wasn’t right again. I don’t know how an hdmi cable can actually sound better and I’d probably glaze over if somebody explained it to me but it makes a difference that you can easily and immediately hear.

The Aq Carbon has very good video. Unfortunetly the audio does not match the performance of the video, sounds alot like a $5 radio sounds, not good at all. Imho

A few years ago I read a news article where they tested a bunch of different cables — cheapy sub-$10 cables all the way up to super high end over-$100 cables — on high end testing equipment. The results showed there was VERY little difference between them.

For the most part, cables are cables are cables. You might get longevity out of higher priced cables, but let’s do the math :: For arguments sake, say you replace a $6 cable every 1 or 2 years. to equal the cost of 1 of the higher-end cables, you would have to replace this cable over 10x AT LEAST.

Plus, that means replacing the same cable for 10-20 years. I’m sure there will be different connection options before even getting to the 10-year mark, and it’s highly unlikely you’ll still have the same gear.

In addition to that, factor in that most of the higher-end cables are way more expensive for a 10ft length. You quickly see how it just doesn’t make any sense to spend the extra money!!! My older panasonic blu-ray player (dmp-bd60) doesn’t like to output to my receiver without a little finagling on the receiver’s input settings first.

I tested a different cable and had the same problem, so it’s not the cable. my guess is the older unit just isn’t really setup to work this way, almost like there isn’t enough signal power to make receiver see it’s there from the start.

once it shows connected, though, it works fine. this will be something to keep in mind if you have older gear and run your signal through a receiver first, instead of directly to a tv. as it stands right now.

when the time comes to get more cables, I’ll definitely consider kaybles. unless something changes, 5 eggs.

I had hoped to use my HDTV as a computer monitor via HDMI as the supplied VGA input lacks HDCP support. Am using an ATI 6850 card which offers native HDMI support and went with this cable directly to the HDMI out on the TV.

I was much better off with dual link DVI-D cable via a small DVI female to HDMI end. Don’t want to blame the product unnecessarily but thought that a straight HDMI to HDMI connection would offer the best video.

I was wrong. Use of this cable got progressively worse and so I went back to my old connection after a week. Will keep it around as it may be useful for something else (other than a PC to HDTV connector).

First of all let me state that this review does not cast any negativity towards Newegg. I purchased two of these cables. I’ll admit that it was because of the price. Well, you get what you pay for. The first cable I tried it on a new DVD/VHS recorder with 1080P upconversion.

HDMI would loose signal then come back after thirty seconds. I assumed it was the player and was about to call Newegg to return it when I thought to try the second cable. The second cable was a total disaster as the HDMI signal would not lock.

I then used a QUALITY HDMI cable. Guess what! No signal problem at all. I’ll be returning them shortly.

I bought the Belkin HDMI gold cable to connect my blu ray player to my television and it works perfectly. I had a 1 metre cable before but it was just too short to be able to put the blu ray player exactly where I wanted it so I bought this 2 metre one and i have the player in just the right place now.

Job done !!!.

This is a great example of the confusion around HDMI labelling, since I could not find any mention of the maximum transmission speed on the cable or its packaging. Would it be OK for 4K or 8K? How would you know?.

Works well to connect the monitor to my laptop. The correct length for me. The monitor actually had an HDMI cable included but this is a better quality.

As a tyro in all things AV, I faced a challenge when I saw poor colour rendition when playing a DVD through a projector from my computer. It called into question what part of my relatively new hook-up arrangement wasn’t up to par.

Cutting a long story short, I found that the 25′ HDMI cable I was using between computer and projector was only rated for HDMI 1. 4 (10Gbps), which “could affect colour rendition. ” I also read a dialogue between several people online, arguing whether a rating for an HMDI cable was of any real meaning or value.

I decided to buy this upgraded HDMI cable to see for myself. Bottom line: There is a fine, but visible, improvement in acuity and colour rendering with the HDMI 2. 0 cable, all other elements being equal.

I noticed it primarily in facial colours and sharpness. Subjective? Sure, but this is my experience! I am pleased that I bought this higher-grade NetStrand HDMI 2. 0 cable. It is well-made, and gives excellent and improved results.

I ran this cable in an auditorium from the av rack to the projector near the front of the room. In nearly a year of operation it has been flawless. I will be getting another of these to help with connecting an auxiliary room later this year.

The cable is clearly marked for easy routing and installation. Update – I have now utilized this cable in 4 separate installations. The quality is still great as of 10/2014 (Last Installation). My original review was for my first installation and that was in 7/2013.

As of today 1/2015 all four locations have had absolutely no issues. This is has been an excellent investment for these auditoriums. I even have two daisy chained with an HDMI splitter purchased from Firefold giving me 200′ of distance with no lag.

I needed a 25 foot HDMI cable when I updated my old plasma SD above a fireplace to a 3D LED TV. My receiver and video sources are on an adjacent wall. The fireplace was pre-wired with coax for composite and component cables.

It would be very hard to run new HDMI cables through the walls to get to the back of the set. I was concerned about the distance, flexibility and color of an HDMI cable if I ran it along the base board and up the side of the fireplace mantel.

I never purchased from Firefold, but I know I will in the future. The white cable is almost invisible on my off white baseboard. It is flexible enough to bend around some tight corners. But the picture (HD and 3D) look fantastic.

First off, great 2 day delivery! 1/08/19 arrived at noon, thanks LaserShip! I have other good 10 foot HDMI cables which I like cause they are thin. This cable is standard thickness and stronger than the thinner 10 foot ones.

At first thought “No audio” but it was my computer muted!!! QualGear cables come in a heavyweight air tight zip lock bag too! I can not speak for what other customers received but QualGear also have smaller ends than the expensive cords! Company claims 30 AWG up to 18 Gbps! Lastly as with new cables they hold well in the HDMI inputs! I would definitely buy QualGear cables again!!! Love these! Thanks guys!!!.

Since retirement, I’ve worked online, both teaching and working for an EdTech company. I needed a reliable Ethernet cord as much of my time was spent using video conferencing tools. After three years, this Ethernet cord continues to be reliable.

Actually got these to use to reach the second TV from the Entertainment System to the Electric Fireplace Entertainment System that has the Dell computer on it , to attach the A95X to. I works Great , I can watch over the air program such as Football on the second TV while watching another game on the cable box on the other Entertainment system.

Keeps me awake and and I don’t need to switch the channels back and forth , which is nice , I can actually snooze and wake up knowing the scores of both games at a glance. Sure I could use the Dell to watch the other game but it is nice to have options , and a 10 Ft HDMI cable or 2 are nice to have around in case a family member needs to be hooked up too.

Wish I knew that this cable came with a large ferrite choke on either end. I do not have enough room in my wall tunnel to fish this through. This is my first disappointing purchase with Monoprice. Otherwise, its a great cable for a great price.

I purchased two of these cords to hook my tv to my DVD player and my tv box through the wall and these worked perfectly! They were the ideal length from the tv to the console even traveling through the wall! I’ve been using them for approximately 3 months and have had no issues!.

Just the right length I needed. A perfect purchase!

Some background: I used this cable for outdoor usage as it is well shielded for the elements (keep the caps on it when not in use). I’ve used this extended length cable for 4K projection and it simply delivers.

Used it for project with 4K Blu-ray players, and personal computers and laptops. For the price for this length of HDMI cable it’s a cost effective win.

I don’t know how many HDMI cables I’ve purchased now. 20? 30? And I’m not including those that were included in some of the products I’ve purchased. I’ve purchased the cheapest on the shelf and the most expensive in the store.

I’ve also ordered cheap and expensive online. This time, I was out of my normal shopping area. I live about 100 miles from Micro Center. But, I have shopped MIcro Center before. Plus, everyone I asked suggested I go to Micro Center.

There were no other suggestions. So I went there. The first thing I noticed was that not only were the cables organized in a way that made ‘sense’ to me. but the whole store was. These cables are not only flexible, strong, and not ‘ugly’.

their transfer rate is faster than some I’ve purchased that were more expensive. I’m completely satisfied with them. and I’ll go back for more when I need them.

These cables work well and are a good value for the length compared to other brands. They transmit 4K reliably so far. Only con I can see is the cable is a little on the heavy side and can possibly bend the connector over time.

Just create a way to support the cable a bit and you should be good.
