20 Best Hard Hat Hair Dryer (2023 Updated)

I’m often experimenting with my hair and adding curls. This is perfect for comparable salon drying time and results. It gets hot and is very effective in drying my hair in a reasonable amount of time.

The size of it is a bit bulky, but it also folds down to a workable size. I like mine so much I’ve bought 2 over the years. I actually ended up giving one to a friend. These also last a long time. I’ve had mine for over 5 years and it still does what it’s supposed to.

This is a very convenient hair dryer that doesn’t burn your head! Yaaaaaaaaay!! Finally an old-school dryer that works. Recommended.

I love this dryer. It was easy to put it together. The only negative thing is that its very loud even on low settings. This could be because Im not use to sitting under a dryer. But overall I really love it! I would recommend it.

I bought this over two weeks ago as a replacement for my very old (10yrs ) Air hairdryer. I listened to the sales person who said it was the best to have as the Air’s would probably be discontinued soon and the Helios was much better.

Unfortunately I have to disagree. Yes the Helios does dry really quickly, but unless you are are professional and used to speed and tension, I found this just made my hair difficult to style. The moisture was gone.

If I changed the blow speed down, my hair just turned frizzy so it’s kind of all or nothing. It didn’t make my hair any smoother than the Air, probably worse if I’m honest. There was no life or bounce after drying.

Whether this is due to the new motor technology used, I have no idea. The speed switch has to think about changing up or down a level when you’re selecting which speed you want, give it a second – it gets there in the end! So I guess this button is either faulty or just badly made.

I see another review states the same thing. For the extra ££, I definitely do not feel I have bought a better product or a quality product and remain very disappointed. I loved my Air, that was definitely the best dryer I have ever owned.

So much so, I will be putting the Helios in a drawer and forgetting about it. I can’t return it to the store as it’s classed as a ‘personal grooming product’. And I have just placed an order for another GHD Air.

I’ve been needing a hard dryer for some months and have always rated my ghd straightners so thought I’d look into buying myself the hairdryer. Quickly decided that the helios seemed the better option than the other ghd dryer purely from reviews.

I wasn’t disappointed at all in fact I’m so happy. I have medium length hair but it is super thick. In the past it’s normally taken around 30 to 40 minutes to dry my hair and this did it in just over 12 minutes.

Granted I’m pretty basic when it comes to drying my hair, I am not able to use these fancy techniques with brushes etc so you could probably shave some of the time off if you’re a pro at blow drying.

My hair is always soft and so many people have commented on how silky and shiny my hair looks. I don’t find it heavy at all, in fact it’s the lightest dryer I’ve owned so makes it easy on the arms. It has various speed and heat settings.

I tend to dry on the middle heat setting at the lowest speed as it does get a little fluttery with the hair when on the highest ones and I find the higher the heat the more hair breakage I seem to get around the ears and forehead where the hair is thinner and more fragile.

I was shocked at how quiet it is for a dryer too. I use the cold setting just after the heat and this ensures a lovely frizz free smooth finish and has helped shave off around 20 minutes of my straightening time now too.

I can now wear my hair down whenever I want, a task I dreaded doing before this dryer. I purchased the item at full price and I’d say its definitely worth it. Go for it if you’re thinking of investing in a top notch dryer that can help look after your hair.

I purchased the dryer in the white and gold and it is aesthetically pleasing. although it did take me a day to decide which colour I wanted as the plum looks beautiful too.

I bought this blow dryer before Christmas and wished I hadn’t been busy and took the time to take advantage of the no questions asked return policy. I have been a hairdresser for over 30 years and was searching for a lightweight dryer.

I googled articles on professional hair dryers and GHD came up. I pulled the trigger and ordered the limited color, warm pewter, which is beautiful. I love the way the dryer looks yet find it to be heavy, hot and too powerful.

I like to finish my styling on low air flow and find that even on low it is too powerful. I am disappointed with the inability to get at the lint when I clean it. You can open the back of the dryer yet not get to the debris.

If you are looking for a lightweight dryer do not get this one. Again, I am sorry I didn’t return and will live with a 225$ + investment.

I have long, wavy/curly hair and have always diffused it. My previous dryer cost about £30 and lasted years, but eventually burnt out so I decided to treat myself to a new, more expensive one. I tried (and returned) a few different hairdryers with diffusers in the mid-range price bracket.

It was a frustrating search! Every one of them had something ‘not right’ -as if the designers have no idea how wavy/curly hair is meant to be dried! Either the diffuser was too small, the dryer was too powerful, too noisy, too awkward/heavy to hold, too short a cable, too hot.

so I relented and splashed out on the GHD one as a last try! I’m really impressed so far. The diffuser is the perfect shape and size and holds the hair nicely without it being too scrunched into the dish.

The settings are just right and easy to use, the air doesn’t ‘blast’ out so my waves are not getting too blown out of the diffuser (something I found with quite a few others). It’s not ridiculously noisy, not too heavy, it’s nice to hold and the cool setting is great.

My hair is shinier and the waves are more defined when I use this dryer. Well done GHD for actually getting what a diffuser is meant to do! I feel like Goldielocks after trying so many different dryers! This one is just right!.

I always appreciated that not all hairdryers are good and I have tried many!! Hotel hairdryers are usually too weak and without direction and often in a very short lead!. Others can be poor at temperature control or too heavy.

I have always bought ‘salon quality’ and always had two as I could not live without my hairdryer if it broke down. I was however sceptical that spending more money would equate with significant improvement on what I thought was already great.

I was wrong. My new GHD hairdryer is amazing. It dries quickly, gives root lift that lasts with perfect direction and temperature controlled airflow. Combined with the GHD mousse it makes my hair look naturally styled, shiny and smell lovely.

There is a long lead and it’s not too heavy. If I hadn’t been given birthday money I probably would never have tried this hairdryer but if you can afford it then you will not be disappointed.

This was my first GHD hairdryer and I’m totally pleased with my purchase. I have used a different brand of hairdryer for years and always though they were good enough until my recent one broke and replaced with the same and was completely disappointed with it.

This one has the power but somehow does not blow your hair all over the place as my other ones did. To be honest I thought that was normal for hairdryers to do that. It also seems to stay at the same heat instead of getting hotter and hotter and is fairly quiet too.

It is light weight, easy to handle and feels sturdy. Yes, it’s double the price of my previous hairdryer but is so worth it. I have long thick hair and this is a game changer for me. It was defiantly quicker drying my hair too.

Wish I’d tried GHD years ago. Definitely recommend this.

I have upgraded from the basic hand held hair dryer to this bonnet stand dryer. Can I say AWESOME!!! Did not know what I was missing until I purchased it. Some people have to see it to believe well this is an item that you would want to add to your household.

It literally cuts dry time in half. I like to wet set my hair with rollers yes somewhat old school but it cuts down on the day to day wear-n-tear of constantly putting heat on the hair which ultimately helps your hair to be healthier.

If you are on the fence about purchasing this item I’d say JUMP. You will not regret this purchase.

I can’t believe the effing picture of this wratchet broken box they have to represent this product! But, here we go. I have an elderly aunt (93) who has her hair done in the home. Bought this for her hairsresser (a new one) who had to learn how to do “old lady ” hair.

Anyway, easy to set up, very powerful and all that we needed. Goood value for what it is.

Wife only used it once because we just got it. But she loves it. Seems sturdy enough. It’s really not compact just look at it. It’s as compact as it’s going to get. I guess it would be if you take it apart every time you use it but that would be a waste of time but for those who could roll it to a place that it’s not in the way then that would be ideal and convenient.

But 5 stars so far. We would recommend it.

I wanted to love the dyson so badly because I’m in love with the prussian blue airwrap and it goes perfectly with it. However after multiple blow out attempts with different products my hair was left flat dry and frizzy Every.

Single. Time. I have very long wavy red hair that usually blows out fairly sleek and full of body with my old babyliss titanium dryer. Why was I paying so much more for something that didn’t deliver on a quality blow out? The fact that it was light, cool looking, and quiet does not make up for a poor end result.

I just bought the Ghd helios. It’s heavier than dyson but it dries as fast as the dyson, is still pretty, not as quiet as the dyson but quieter than the babyliss, but DELIVERS a smoothe, sleek and body full end product that can be worn alone with no flat ironing needed or with my airwrap to playfully curl the lower half of my hair after drying.

The dyson went back and I’m keeping the ghd. Oh also, the new dyson flyaway attachment worked for 5 sec then hair was tight back to being frizzy and burnt up mine and my daughters hair, so if you’re on the fence between these 2, I vote helios!.

Bought this during a Cyber Monday sale, with good savings. Was replacing a VERY old hair dryer, and had been looking at the Dyson, but couldn’t quite bring myself to spend that money. However, I did want to spend an amount to ensure I would get a good, long-lasting hairdryer that I would use for the next 10+ years.

Overall, I have loved this hairdryer so far. PROS: – Pretty design (I got white) – Extremely efficient. While it took 15-20 minutes to dry my medium-thickness, curly, shoulder-blade length hair with my old hair dryer, this truly only took 5-8 minutes with the diffuser.

– As others have said, highest heat setting is hot but doesn’t burn your scalp. – Seems to minimize frizz, but don’t have enough uses yet to say for sure. CONS: – Yes, price, but seems a good investment.

– As others have noted, does not come with a diffuser. For this price, it should. I will try not to take it as a personal affront to curly-haired users such as myself. 🙂 Does come with the cone/blade/thingy I’ve never used on my curly hair.

– Not super light, but won’t hurt your wrist or forearm either (and I don’t have too much to compare it to).

I’ve had this for about 9ish months now and for the past 3 months have been using it approximately every 2 weeks for about 2 hours. This is a great quality hair dryer for the price however you have to get creative when it comes to the seating so your whole head is actually in the dryer instead of frying your scalp and roots.

Also the low setting is VERY low, practically useless while the high setting is not the greatest for drying soaking wet hair but is more than adequate with damp hair. I think this product is well worth the price and would repurchase; not sure if I’d be willing to repurchase at a higher price point.

I love this dryer so much; I change things around with my hair to style the way I want. It is great for drying different lengths of hair; mine is long. My hair stays nice and moisturized because of the quality of the hair drying.

I like to do different sets to my hair; so this perfect for me.

Absolutely satisfied with my purchase. The price was really great and target shipped it super quick. I like the ease of this dryer and how portable it is. If you are short you might need a pillow or some type of booster as this sits high for taller people and is not adjustable for lower setting it is only adjustable for higher lengths.

Although this does get hot, I wish it fanned out more air, had larger fans or stronger fan strength rather than just the added heat. It’s nice to have when I’ve mostly let my hair air dry but to use it with wet hair is torture for me.

I already hate sitting under these bonnet style dryers but do it to save time drying, this one doesn’t really save time. It is nice to have so I can have my hands free to work while it dries my hair though, primarily roots so that’s why I prefer to use it once my hair has mostly dried since it takes my roots longer to dry.

Works better on shorter hair. Otherwise I find the top of my head being dried while the rest is still wet. With shorter hair, I’m at least able to flip my ends up and dry it all at the same time. Great for use with hair treatments under a cap and before I straighten my hair, though it’s nice with style and go curly looks too.

If you’re like me and do your make-up so your hair has more time to air dry, just remember your forehead is close to the warm/hot air so that can affect your overall look if you like full coverage and maybe have oily skin.

The dryer doesnt get hot enough. It has three settings but it wont go past the second setting. I would like to exchange it for a new one and see if maybe this one is just defective or possibly got jolted during shipping.

I am disappointed in this dryer. I chose this more expensive one thinking it would be a better dryer and that is definitely not the case. The heat only works in the front of dryer. The back doesn’t get any heat.

I have shoulder length hair and had plenty of space left in dryer so to allow for the heat to circulate but that never happened. I had to use my handheld blow dryer to finish my hair. Was.

I liked the compactness of this, but it took me a whole year to discover that last 4 inches of adjustability! It had been a bit short when seated at a normal chair. So I looked it up online and saw it could be lifted further from the base.

So perfect!.

My first hood dryer was purchased from Walmart over 20 years ago. Well, it was time to finally replace it and I shopped all over the place and finally decided to go back to Walmart. I went in and found Kiss Red with 4 settings.

I use it quite frequently and it has not disappointed me. It has really cut down my hair drying time.

I lover doing roller on my hair and this is my go to dryer. This product will dry your hair while giving you less heat damage. It does get very hot under there, but it’s worth the heat, because this gives a lot of shine to your hair.

Highly recommend if you love volumes smooth hair.

This is imperative in our household. Myself, 5 daughters and a husband and son who have long hair. It’s perfect to just sit under instead of tiring my hands using a hand held dryer. Unfortunately it’s broke and I can’t blame it.

The poor thing was overused!.

This dryer heats up quickly and is effective. The head works great, but the stand does not hold up. Plastic parts that can adjust the height tend to break pretty quickly and you cannot buy a new base.

The company will ask you to ship in the unit! The company needs to design a study stand with metal parts that hold up. The plastic does not.

I am a professional hairstylist and have used this product during my career. It works well as far as a portable dryer goes, but in my opinion the temperature controls are not the best. It seems to be either too cool or extremely too hot.

I stopped using it due to this and probably won’t use it again.

I invested in this Hot Tools Tourmaline Ionic Portable Salon Dryer to use when setting my grandmother‘s hair at her home. It’s adjustable, delivers the right amount of air flow and fits perfectly over her head.

Omg! I have purchased two of these hair dryers. My first one I ended up having for almost 9 years. The day that it died on me I was so sad. I immediately went out and found another one. I found it a near by beauty supply store.

I think the price range is definitely a good one. It is a great quality hair dryer with multiple heating settings. It is very durable and easy to use. It gets the job done. Holy grail for setting wraps and roller setting.

We’ve had these less than 6 months, and they’re already cracking. If you’re replacing for this reason, don’t get these. Accused us of using the wrong kind of cleaner. That’s not right at all, as we are using the mildest cleaner available, backed up by the MSDS.

This product was good for the first few months. Then it completely deteriorated and proved to be of terrible quality over the long term especially for the price. All of the finish began to flake off after just a few months.

Then the tiny plastic pins that hold the vent in place broke off. Warranty is only 1 year from dermstore and harry josh is 2 years but they deliberately delayed replying to me in order to exceed the 2 year mark and honor the warranty.

I highly discourage anyone from purchasing this overpriced piece of junk.

This is the most favorite hair dryer I’ve ever used. The only thing I would change is if it were quieter. It sounds like a normal hair dryer though, so I have no complaints there really. I rarely use the attachments, but I love how short the barrel is.

I feel like I have more control of it, since the barrel is shorter than typical hair dryers. It dries my hair fast, and there are multiple settings on it. which I love. I wouldn’t change a thing about it.

I just hope they never stop making these, bc I would purchase another one whenever this one goes out, which could be years from now. I love this one so much.

I like this hair dryer. It is not as powerful as my old one, but it does the trick for a smaller hair dryer, and may only make a minute or two of a difference in drying time. I like that it is compact and fits in my drawer nicely.

My old one was too big for my drawer and it was painted. Pieces of paint was flaking off everywhere, so that is why I decided to update. I have not tried any of the attachments yet. The attachments may make a difference.

I will update once I give them a try.

I really enjoy using my Pro Wet2Style Dryer. I have used it after taking a shower and my hair is damp after using the towel on it. My hair is long and straight. With using the dryer on my hair, it gets dried quickly and is quite easy to brush after drying it and it styles quickly and beautifully.

My hair is kind of difficult to brush after showering and towel drying it because it gets tangled. Using the attachments that come with the dryer help my hair be much less tangled and my hair becomes much easier to brush through.

My hair is less damaged after using the dryer and the attachments. The dryer is light and easy to hold while drying my hair. Each of the four attachments are really easy to insert onto the dryer to use on my hair.

The buttons are really easy to turn on and turn off the dryer when I am using it and when I am done using it, the cord is a really good size and does not get tangled. The detangler attachment is awesome to use because I can dry and brush through my hair easily at the same time.

The blowout boost attachment is cool to use because at the same time I am using it to dry my hair, my hair is getting some lift and does not look so flat. The slipstream attachment is pretty cool as well because I can put a good amount of my hair inside of the open space of it and it dries it and detangles it at the same time and is easy to brush afterwards.

The diffuser attachment is nice as well because it dries my hair quickly.

This dryer was a waste of money, honestly. When drying wigs, the hair in the middle spins around & gets tangled. When adjusting the height, it makes this LOUD springy noise & it makes the entire area smell like something is on fire.

I wish I felt like going thru the trouble of sending this back because that’s what really needs to happen. Never again!.

Recieved the dryer & plugged it in to make sure it worked. When it came on it smelled like rotten eggs burning & I unplugged it. Waited until the next day & it didn’t work anymore so I wasted almost $100 on a broken dryer for my salon.

So far so good. I’m hoping it works well for my clients with broader shoulders because the hood sits a bit awkward to cover entire head. But over all I’m satisfied. Plus they shipped fast.

It’s hard to believe a hair dryer could make a big difference but this one absolutely DOES. I’m sooo thrilled with it! My kinky/curly fine/thin hair has dried much faster than usual (even though it’s the same wattage as my previous dryer) and so smooth, soft, shiny and healthy looking (getting that without a flat iron also means that it gets to stay fluffier looking instead of flat and stringy).

Works great without too much heat! I have damaged hair and I’m able to use this every time I wash my hair on the middle setting without much heat touching the hair. It feels warm blowing against my hand but not hot on that setting.

The dryer was very affordable and came with both a concentrator nozzle and a diffuser, which my old one was missing. Nice simple dryer that won’t get too hot while still doing a great job?.

So I actually have a slightly different model than this one (D3190), but for some reason it wasn’t on the product list. It is a 2000 watt black hair dryer. I always use the narrow connection add on because I like the directional flow.

It really makes it easier to blow out my hair. It has 3 heat settings and 2 speed settings. It was only $19, so I was pretty happy with it. It dries hair and didn’t cost a fortune! Even though I like this product, if it was something I had to repurchase, I would probably get a different brand because it should last a long time.

My previous hair dryer, although a different brand, lasted about 12 years. This current one is about 2 years old. So if it stopped working for no reason before the 10 year mark, I would have to tey something else.

I’m really thrilled with my new Remington D5216 hair dryer. It is light weight, a very attractive colour combination of white & mint green, & most importantly, doesn’t scorch my hair or scalp when used on the lower settings.

I love the defuser attachment for my waves & the small nozzle is really good too when I want a smooth hairstyle. All in all, this is a fabulous hair dryer & I bought it ‘on Sale’ too from George at Asda – £10 to £20 pounds cheaper than other shops & online stores which was a real bonus.

Great dryer. Got it as part of a set with the straighteners. Very very happy with my products for the price I paid. I wouldn’t recommend this for professional use (prolonged use every day) as the plastic on the inside began to melt slightly but with normal daily use this dryer is amazing.

I have really long hair that takes forever to dry naturally and forever to blow dry. This dryer manages to dry it in record time compared to others I’ve used, without having to use the top heat setting.

The attachments I got were great too, a diffuser and a flat one for blow dry straightening.

Excellent value and the different heat settings are really useful. I am growing my hair from a very short crop and lo and behold I curly hair! I bought this because I wanted a diffuser attachment – so as not to squash my new-found curls – it works like a charm.

The soft hood for this is great as it didnt completely fill up with air and fly off your head. I had to order from Italy as its not available in australia for some strange reason. Plenty of room for some velcro rollers.

The hood itself is made of a very soft plastic material so time will tell how it holds up. Dryer has good temp and air speed.

Das Gert lsst sich ganz leicht umhngen und hat richtig viel Power und Hitze. Von Stufe 2 bin ich aber auf 1 gegangen, da ich die Haare trocknen, und nicht grillen wollte. :-)) Es war kein Problem die Haube ber die groen Wickler zu bekommen.

Zuerst habe ich den “Fhn” umgehngt, dann die Haube ber das Haar, und mit dem Gummizug ans Gert befestigt. Seit 30 Minuten sitze ich schon warm von oben, am PC und freue mich das alles prima klappt. Fr mich die richtige Entscheidung.

Man knnte auch damit herum gehen, da es eine lange Leitung hat, aber warum diese Hektik, mach ich es mir lieber gemtlich, und nutze die Zeit.

Bis jetzt habe ich leider, wenn die Haube kaputt ging (und das passiert leider sehr schnell bei mehrmals die Woche Gebrauch), IMMER eine komplette Trockenhaube Grundig kaufen mssen und die alte komplett weggeschmissen.

Super fr die Umwelt!! Bei Nachfragen wg. Ersatzhauben bei der Firma Grundig, war die Angestellte unhflich, genervt, und sagten mir, dass sie so etwas nicht haben!!!.

I purchased this unit for my busy hair salon as the reviews seemed to be great. This item arrived defected. The holes on the unit do not match the holes on the legs which makes the screws impossible to fit- which then makes the unit super unstable and wobbly.

I spent hours trying to make the legs match the holes in the base of the unit. Even had a man assist. I Contacted customer service who in turn says the customer is responsible for the 75 dollar return label.

I could understand if I wanted to return the unit just because but for an item to come packaged defected and then wanting to charge the customer to return the item is really absurd. I will never purchase anything from this company again.

Save yourself the time and hassle.

The feature I like the most is that it has a detachable air filter which makes maintenance easier and faster. frequent cleaning will let the equipment live to its longest life which is absolutely important to make the most of it and your money paid for it.

I have had this dryer for 5 months and so far heard nothing bad from the customers except positive experiences. My clients now take home a big smile thanks to this machine. the team SalonPRO has done a fantastic job.
