20 Best Hand Held Grass Trimmer (2023 Updated)

I bought this years ago when I was fed up with the three gas trimmers, yes THREE that I owned. If I ever had to shut them off, they would get flooded and not start again. So, I would go into the garage and grab another one until that died.

I saw a commercial for this Worx string trimmer and figured I had nothing to lose so I bought it. I am so glad I did. I tell all my friends that this was one of the best purchases I have EVER made. It works great when I use it to edge along the sidewalk.

It’s light weight which makes trimming a breeze. I love the fact that the spools are so easy to change. Especially compared to the gas trimmers I owned. I also use my Worx trimmer to mow the grass in the tight spots where my mower won’t fit.

I also love the fact that I get the free replacement spools for life. I would recommend this product to anyone that is looking for a trimmer, just like I have to my friends. I sold my three gas trimmers and never looked back.

No more trips to the gas station, and no more frustration trying to start a gas trimmer that is flooded.

I needed a lighter, easier lawnmower that took up less space than my current one. My old one was also electric but required a cord and maneuvering that was becoming more cumbersome. The delivery was relatively good but the box was a bit beaten up.

Pros: easy to use, light weight (especially for women who take care of the yard themselves), battery life is decent, good for small yards Cons: assembly instructions are difficult to follow, would have loved to have had written instructions with the pictures.

If you have a large sized yard you’ll want to get the next size up or so. It’s a little more expensive for a lot of plastic parts. I’m worried that it may not last as long, but it serves my purpose for the moment.

After a lot of research I chose this trimmer. They offer the free string for it, so even if you use up a bit of string each time you trim the replacements are cheap — you only pay for shipping on the 6 pack.

The two batteries are nice – I ended up using both batteries up the first time as it had been a long time since we’d trimmed or mowed any of our yard. On this subsequent trimming this weekend I didn’t end up finishing one battery worth of charge.

I noticed it works well against standard grass and weaker weeds. If you try to run it against stronger weeds it pretty much just chews at them and makes a bit of a mess. With enough time and attention you can get through some of the more stubborn weeds, but I would say this probably isn’t the best tool if you have thick weeds.

The weight of the unit is really nice and is one of the main reasons I chose this model over “more powerful” ones. There is a tradeoff though – if you’re spending a while trying to get through stubborn weeds, even the lighter weight will wear you down.

Bottom line, the unit is good for the price, has a good amount of battery (with 2 included) to get through a 30 minute session of trimming, and it’s lightweight.

I have had this now for two season, it replaced a corded model from a different company. You know those corded ones, where it is a rule of physics that if there is anything to catch on, it will. Anyway, this has been the least troublesome trimmer I have ever owned.

It works effortlessly. What I enjoy the most is that the battery seemingly goes on forever. I mean, I know it doesn’t; but I had left the battery in over the winter in an unheated garage, so when I went to use it in the spring, I was sure the battery would have discharged.

It hadn’t and now three months into the season and regular use, I have yet to need to charge it. Is this not great?! Seriously, I can’t recommend this highly enough, you can’t go wrong.

With the rising price of gasoline I retired my gas trimmer and hated being tied to the umbilical cord, so I cut the cord with this great cordless trimmer. Makes edging and getting into those tight spaces easy work.

Versatile trimmer that you can set at different angles and lightweight so you won’t get tired if you have a huge lawn. Did I mention, low maintenance as well. My lawn looks as good or even better than the landscapers that I used to employ.

A money saver all around for me. Makes lawn work enjoyable for an old dog like me. Again, how did I ever live without one of these. Keep up the great work Worx!.

I bought this stupid thing at least 2 years ago. O and it still works. Only because I can’t stand to use it. It only holds like 6 inches of string. Or cord or whatever ever. The spool is the size of a 50 cent piece.

So then I bought another one thinking that maybe I didn’t realize it wasn’t going to cut but a around 2 trees. Then run out of string. And it said free sting for life. Ha! But it cost $8. 99 in shipping fees.

I was so mad. That I didn’t think about the size of the spool. So I purchased the second one a 40 volt. the first one was a 20 volt. So samd size spool of string. Unbelievable and the reason I’m still mad is because I’m standing here and putting the cord on the 10 spools I have.

So I can stop and replace it every 5 minutes. Who would ever want a spool of string that last 5 min maybe. Don’t but it. Period. rip off people.

Be sure to register your product! I wrote a good review for this product which I purchased on Overstock. com after using it just once without incident. Using it the second time, the grass clipper started making a funny high pitched noice.

I tried to disengage the clipper head from the pole. This is not an easy task and I had the pole wedged between my knees as you need two hands to release the head from the pole. The pole slipped and fell to the ground (not cement).

The plastic housing around the telescoping lock on the pole cracked and now the pole cannot be extended. It was great while it worked. I’ve already been in touch with the company via SunJoe chat and the promise is that they will be in touch with me.

Getting the clipper head to release from the pole should not be so hard to do. I have a SunJoe chipper and have had no issues at all with that. Usually a reliable brand.

I place this in my cart, planning to pick it up at my local store. But I read a lot of reviews for this product, both on HomeDepot as well as other sites that sell this same product. It became clear that this unit is not worth it.

Many complain that the shears are not very powerful and won’t cut through anything but the thinnest grasses. The battery is built in and “non-consumer replaceable!” THAT IS A DEAL BREAKER RIGHT THERE!!! Rechargeable batteries don’t last that long and if you can’t change the battery, they you’ve just wasted $$$.

Others have complained that something goes wrong where they can hear the motor running, but the blades no longer move. So, REMOVED FROM CART.

After going through 5 of these between myself and my daughter we are a bit dismayed. For the month or so that they worked we absolutely loved them and in fact were about to buy the handle which would make them even more convenient to use since we would not have to kneel to use them.

The problem is that the gears which drive the blades are plastic or some synthetic and with-in a month or so teeth break off and they no longer oscillate. My daughter keeps asking me why they can’t make the mechanism out of metal so it will hold up to use.

I’m afraid I can’t answer that question as I have the same question. I’m not sure how long they will keep replacing these things for my daughter and me. We like Sun Joe fine just wish they would address this issue.

There’s so much to be said about this cordless grass trimmer. I bought my first one in 2009. I fell in love with the features since I have Rheumatoid Arthritis I’m not able to handle a heavy bulky tool.

It adjusts to your exact needs, feels comfortable in my hands (doesn’t hurt) and, runs a long time! In fact I weed eat my entire yard front and, back on one battery. That’s amazing! My Father in law liked it when he saw me use it and, he bought one for my Mother in law after I encouraged her to try it out and, she loved it! Then, she bought one for my brother in law for his Birthday and he loved his.

I purchased the 20” hedge trimmers, the Power Shot power washer, and am extremely satisfied with those as well. I plan to buy a few more tools that I need from Worx (jigsaw, leaf blower, jaw saw thingy, etc) and, I NEED those tools in that giveaway kit! Lol NO REALLY! These tools require very little maintenance if taken care of and tuned up periodically.

And I can even do that! And, let’s not forget free spools for life, only pay for s&h. One last thing, I am now on my 3rd grass trimmer since my first one in 2009! Folks that’s AMAZING, only 3 in 13 years! If you’re needing a new tool for your yard, don’t waste your money, purchase a Worx tool, you’ll be glad you did.

I have 2+ full seasons on this trimmer and have been very pleasantly surprised. The trimmer is light weight and uses thin line, so I had low expectations. I trim about 200′ of chain link fence, at least 300′ along gardens and patios and edge both sides of a 60′ driveway and 30′ sidewalk.

Of the numerous trimmers I have owned over the years, this is easily my favorite. The line advances better than any trimmer, or add on trim head, I have ever seen. Very important with chain link fence! The spools are small.

I have purchased extras. I rewind my own and carry one in my pocket. They change out quickly with no tools. The edger function alone is worth the price.

I bought this item several weeks ago. I previously had a gas trimmer but the engine died and after several consultations decided on getting the cordless one. After checking online I decided on the word product because of the reviews it got and the price that it was for on sale $99.

00. After it took me a week to get the item via cursed pick-up,even though i live 5 minutes from the local hardware store Rona. I was more than anxious to get the unit up and running. I picked up the item at 0730 AM and as I got home I put it together and placed the battery on charge.

I read all the brochures that came with it and noted the length of time it would take for the battery to charge. The information package also stated that the battery should give me about five hours of run time once fully charge.

The reason for my 2 star rating on this item is due to the short battery life of the product. At about 6PM that day after the green light stopped flashing which by the way meant that the unit is fully charged.

I disconnected the charger and started to use the unit. The unit shut off about 10 minutes into using it. I could not complete the trimming of my property due to a dead battery. I was not pleased but however connected the unit and left it charging for four more days.

I tried to use the unit again and it did about the same thing only less minutes. The only way I got to complete the trimming of my property was to stop and recharge each time the unit would shut down.

Very embarrassing when you have to trim your yard in stages due to not enough battery life in your edge trimmer. Does not make any sense to me that the unit cannot complete a job for 10 minutes on a full charge.

I have put the unit down and since then have been trying to contact WORX. I waiting for someone to return my phone calls ,according to their phone lines they are busy and return my calls within 24 hours.

If Luke Skywalker couldn’t use his light saber for yardwork, this is what he would use! “Not as clumsy or random as a blaster, an elegant tool for a more civilized age. ” I’ve been using a 26 and 31 cc gas powered attachment capable trimmer systems for 2 decades, and have loved the versatility.

Originally started using these attachment systems so I wouldn’t have the expense and maintenance of several gas motors to maintain on some attachments that might be used infrequently. I have a Blower/Leaf Vacuum/Mulch-er, Pole Saw, Extension Shaft, Hedge Trimmer, 2 curved shaft edge trimmers, and now a Straight shaft edge trimmer.

I almost recently bought a Stihl Kombi Power head but then when I saw this for almost $100 less and I was familiar with the performance Worx from using the Hydroshot I bought a few years ago, I figured it was worth trying (Worx also has a longer Warranty).

Pro’s 5 Year Warranty! ; Appears very well made/designed tool, Kudos to Worx for standing behind their well made product. 095 trimmer line; I’ve noticed this gauge line doesn’t break as easily as the.

08 line I’ve been using for years. Has a power level indicator “On the Tool”, for when your spare batteries may not have an indicator. If you live somewhere with restrictions on gas power “Ozone Alert days” at times , I would think since this is battery powered it would be excluded and you could still work.

Quieter than using a Gas (attachment capable) Power head. You likely won’t bother everyone if your house and both your neighbors houses when you use this. Some tools like the Pole saw and/or Hedge Trimmer you might find you lift the motor closer to your head/ears (than when using a grass string trimmer) to reach spots, using this Battery operated motor is much quieter than the gas heads I’ve used.

When using the Hedge trimmer I can actually hear the scissor action of the blades something I couldn’t hear when I was using a gas powered head. The attachment capable tools (like chain saw and hedge trimmer) give you more reach than using comparable tool only, (can also add an extension pole section) sometimes reducing or eliminating the need for a ladder.

I have a dedicated electric pole saw (with motor and oil reservoir at saw end) but much prefer using the lighter weight pole saw attachment on this instead, it is lighter at far end (where it matters) since the motor is on the base and the saw at the other end.

An added benefit is since it’s just the saw and oil reservoir at the end it can get into spots easier and doesn’t get hung up in the tree as easily. No cord to deal with, when compared to plug in pole saws or hedge trimmers.

When you take your finger off the throttle trigger you have “Complete Silence!” With a gas trimmer your motor is still running and only your tool stops spinning/moving, Batteries are compatible with other Worx tools I have (I have Worx Hydroshot, and Worx Brushless Drill) Cons (None of these would prevent me from purchasing this again, I feel that Worx has the best tool in this category right now!): So much quieter than gas, if Spouse is inside, you may not receive the credit for your efforts as they may not know you are working! Eco Mode sometimes times out and must be reselected, This can happen when working with the Hedge Trimmer or Pole saw and you the set tool down to take a break, stand back to decide where more cutting needed, repositioning tool, etc.

(it can easily be re-engaged, it would be nice if it didn’t timeout or reset (had memory) unless you were changing batteries, if Eco Mode utilized a physical switch instead of a lighted button, that issue wouldn’t happen).

When working with the Hedge trimmer it would sometimes be nice to have a second index hole 90 degrees offset from the existing one, using the existing index hole the Hedge trimmer teeth are perpendicular to ground, great for trimming the side of the bushes but if you have a long run to do along the top of a series of bushes you have to rotate the entire tool and your safety and trigger controls are then rotated as well (it’s workable but sometimes feels a bit awkward).

Not sure if this is a con or a strength, the Index hole on the Worx power head is farther in (towards motor) than on my Ryobi gas heads (where index hole is right near the end of Ryobi power head shaft), suspect that allows Worx to make the connection stronger? All tools fit and engage “button pop-out” except for my Trimmer Plus Blower/Vac attachment.

That tool is fairly short but also very light being that it’s mostly plastic, perhaps Worx could supply a short adapter piece to allow that attachment to fit? General Observations: If you are used to gas it can take a little bit of learning curve to get use to not having to have “a certain amount of noise/ RPM” to do the same work you did with your gas tool.

I initially went through my first set of batteries quicker when I first used this Worx string trimming. This Ntitro 40V appears to have an awesome amount of low end torque (usable power produced at a relatively low RPM).

The shape of the twisted line Worx Supplied works well at a lower RPM as well. I have discovered I don’t have to throttle it up as much as I did with my Gas trimmer heads, infact I have been able to do everything I wanted to do while running at partial throttle in ECO Mode on this tool, and the battery run time is longer while running it that way.

Running attachments like the Pole Saw and Hedge Trimmer head do not deplete battery power nearly as fast as when using the String Trimmer. Main reason I figure is when using the grass string trimmer you have it throttled to some degree almost all the time, when you are using the pole saw or the hedge trimmer I am sometimes stopping, stepping back looking at where I need to trim more, removing/picking up cut branches, repositioning the pole saw in another spot, etc.

I have 2 three amp batteries and they last a very long time when using either the pole saw or the hedge trimmer, they are also a little lighter for reaching higher spots. Observations from other reviews: Some have commented having difficulty with engaging (attaching) attachments, I didn’t think I experienced this but have been using similar system (only gas powered) for 2 decades.

Since I read this I noticed when I attach attachments, if I feel any resistance (pushing tool into power head) I rotate the attachment back and forth slightly to get the square shaft of the attachment to properly line up and engage with the square receptacle in the power head till it slides in easily (it should not be difficult).

I also noticed since the index hole is deeper the legacy (non Worx) attachments sometimes have stickers near the end (that would need to be inserted into the Worx Driveshare sleeve) the sticker may hang up or need to be removed.

I didn’t even realize I did “jiggled/rotated attachment slightly” until after I read people experiencing issues and then analyzed my own process, hopefully this info can be helpful to others. Some have commented about availability of the Power Head on it’s own because they already have a String Trimmer head (I understand, I now have three String Trimmer heads!).

I have found having extra String Trimmer heads are not the worst thing, it can be rather convenient (to have at least one extra) that way if you are in middle of trimming and you run out of line you can just grab your extra String Trimmer head that you already have stringed up and swap it out and immediately keep trimming.

Then when you have a rainy day you can take your empty head into garage/basement and restring it as you have time.

I bought this recently to replace my troublesome 2 cycle troybilt that always took me at least 20-30 min just to start it. OMG – the nitro wg186 is a beast! This thing has a lot of power. Puts my 2 cycle to shame.

I think it honestly has the power of a 4 cycle. It powers through everything. I was able to do my front and my back (1 acre yard) and still have 3 out of 5 bars of battery power left over. I was cutting for maybe 15-20 min tops.

I love that when carrying to my next location, the weed eater is OFF (something you don’t get w/ gas ones, unless you want to keep restarting it. ). This helps to save power. It’s strong, sturdy, and under 12lbs in weight w/ the string trimmer.

The twisted line is awesome – the manual and myself recommend twisted line for superior cutting power. It does come w/ a spool already loaded in the bump head (ty worx, b/c i didn’t know if it did when i bought it since the listing didn’t mention if it did.

It does. I bought a spool of. 095b ugly twisted just in case. ) I bought the brush cutter attachment but i have not had the pleasure of using it yet. I will leave a review for that too when i do. The WG186 makes weed eating a breeze.

It’s powerful. I have not use ECO mode yet. My only cons for it are: The guard doesn’t protect the user from being hit w/ debris, so be careful cutting and def wear pants, and ppe. Worx – please make a bigger guard.

You don’t need to make another weed eater to do so, just give us a bigger guard we can buy as an accessory and put it on to our wg186. 2nd con – the vibration. Maybe eco mode puts out less (idk yet), but b/c of the power this unit has, the user will def experience what users experience after handling this type of equipment.

I am going to see if adding some kind of foam, silicone, or rubber to the grip – if this helps lessen the vibration. Other than that, it’s a super good unit. I wish i could buy 2 more batteries for it.

Totally worth the $. I got it when it was on sale during prime week. I’m so happy w/ my purchase. I want to weed eat again. I’m going to explore other items from worx for my other lawn needs. Ty worx for making a great weed eater! The only suggestion I would make to worx, is offer a telescopic handle.

(Ego does. That’s one thing I wish this had). Also offer an auto feed head. All your other models are single feed line and auto dispensing line, except for the wg186. I don’t understand why your newest model wouldn’t be auto feed.

I was b/t the Ego and Worx before purchasing. I honestly really dislike bump heads, however I still bought the Worx wg186 b/c their bump head IS very responsive!!! It actually works and dispenses line, whereas Ego’s (even though it auto feeds), the reviews I watched show it not being as responsive as Worx’s bump head.

I hope Worx makes an auto feed line head though because I will buy it.

My WG186 is fairly new and I have enjoyed using it. My struggle came in when both ends of the string broke off leaving nothing outside the spool. I couldn’t find my product manual so I went online and with initial complete frustration I couldn’t find anything to show me how to correct the issue.

Having a maintenance background I decided to look at how I could resolve the issue myself. Pulled the head off only to have the spring and string pop out. Again no online manuals to assist. I then saw a similar head different model online explaining how to load the trimmer head.

Less than a minute later and I’m back in business. BTW, there wasn’t a product manual on the WORX website under the manual section. I did end up finding it in the product page under specifications. But again it had very little about reloading the trimmer head and the step was split between the Operation Instruction and Troubleshooting sections.

Whoever QA’ed the manual needs to go back through it.

I am upgrading my current Worx trimmer giving my daughter the old one. It is a quality-built piece, and the wheels are very useful for edging. In comparing it to the original 20V version, there are some things that I don’t like as much.

I think this one is too long and isn’t adjustable like the previous one is. I’m not sure the adjustable string guard will hold up without a lock like the old one had, but we will see. I was also told that this one was a dual string but is a single string.

I will use it and it will do a fine job, but I would buy the 20V GT the next time.

Don’t know if this will be for the right model, this review refers to the 183. or 183. 9, model, so, hope this will provide some benefit. It went together fairly straightforward, not much assembly involved, and (except for one time when I got it caught in something and had to stop and rework one side of the line, my fault, not the product), it kicked but.

the length was long enough for me, I could use it to trim my hedges, and up high where some bushes were that I couldn’t reach with anything else. Has a lot of power and cutting strength. I’m pretty happy with it.

The WORX 40V cordless string trimmer is very light weight, well balanced, and very powerful. I absolutely was amazed at the power of this trimmer. It is able to clear out tall grasses, ferns, undergrowth , etc.

with ease. It is so light weight and balanced that you do not get hand or arm fatigue while using it. I highly recommend this trimmer!.

This little trimmer is one of my favorite yard tools. I am reminded each year when I take it out again. Still going strong despite the fact that I use it to the hilt. You can trim the grass close to precious plants and with a simple switch of blades be trimming a small limb on a hedge.

Yesterday I was amazed the grass and weeds were so thick I couldn’t pull any of it out by hand. Got Joe out and he cut in the dirt down to the roots, which were so tight mixed into the black yard cloth.

This was an unusual case and I would not recommend doing this very often. Just Keep blades oiled with each use. Simply amazing.

I bought the Sun Joe HJ604C Cordless Grass Shear Hedger on April 2, 2021. I used it just twice to shear some grass and two soft leaved small shrubs. It worked just fine. And I recharged the device fully before using it each time.

But when I tried to recharge the Grass Shear Hedger today for using it, it would not recharge. Neither the red light, nor the green light. It would not recharge. I don’t know what to do with this item.

I would like to replace it with another one, but there is not guarantee that the same thing won’t happen with the second one. It deters me from buying Sun Joe products. Previously I bought one pole saw of the same brand and I had to return it because the pole saw won’t work properly.

Nonetheless, undeterred, I took a second chance with Sun Joe, and bought this second item. I was feeling happily when it did a good job two times. But to my chagrin, I was utterly disappointed when the item refused to recharge after two uses.

This is one of the best purchases I made. It is just not only for trimming hedges but going along the cracks in the concrete where the weeds grow, with the shear attachment makes life a lot easier then pulling them out by hand.

I also use it to cut overgrown foliage on my fences. I just ordered one for my sister, who I know will love it too! I would highly recommend this tool, it is small and light and does a great Job. Dorothy from Brooklyn.

Bought first one about a year ago. Never have I used any machine so easy to start and operate. Is it heavy? Yes. Is it a 4 stroke motor? Yes. It is very capable and extremely powerful & reliable. Never will use a 2 stroke string trimmer again ever.

Ive owned dozens of the 2 stroke units from very expensive major brands to cheap ass Murray models. None of them lasted long (2 seasons at best) always had to fiddle to get them started- except when they were new.

I added counterweights on the head to make the machine have a zero-balance point where the strap attaches to make it efortless to accurately control the position while using the machine. Yes it did add about 19.

5 ounces. Added to the 14 pounds you’re already carrying (using a harness) it doesn’t really make any difference in overall weight. sure reduces fatigue from having to hold the head down during use. This is a truly wonderful machine!.

I have not yet put it through its paces but felt like an initial review was needed. I have read many negative reviews indicating this machine leaks oil and fuel. Manufacturer suggests 0. lL for initial oil fill.

In my case 50ml was all it needed to be at full level flat on leveled garage floor. The dipstick was bone dry before the fill. I do not see how it would be physically possible to put 100ml in it, but anywhere near that number would probably explain the oil leaks.

Other then that, built quality is acceptable, especially for the money. Put 50ml synthetic 10w-30 blend in it and non-ethanol fuel, primed 10 times and it started on the 2nd pull. Sounds fantastic. Installed a 10″ carbide tipped blade with 1″ arbor and it spins it with no issues and no additional hardware was needed to install.

Will take it to my overgrown property next weekend and see what it’s really made of. Will post a follow up then.

Bought this Badger to replace a 4 cycle Troy Bilt that had many, many quality problems. The Badger connects to all the attachments I already own, Edger, Hedge Trimmer, Pole Saw. The Badger is great so far.

Starts easily on the 2nd pull, well built and has so much more power than my old unit, even when it was brand new. Was easy to assemble. Keep checking the oil level with the dipstick on first fill as it could be easy to overfill.

It is a bit heavy but well balanced and can be used with or without the harness. On top of it all there is a 6 year residential warranty. I highly recommend this product – excellent value so far!.

I have been using this product for numerous years and simply LOVE IT! Having 2 batteries makes it super convenient for me because by the time I exhaust the first fully charged battery, reload the second, I’m just about ready to call it a day with my weed whacking duties.

After exhausting the first battery, placing it in the charger while using the second one, the first one will be ready when needed if I desire to do so. The only complaint would be the “free” spools of twine for life – they are NOT FREE at all! The $9.

91 shipping cost and being RESTRICTED to only 6 spools per order, makes it inconvenient and more expensive than necessary. 12 spools per order seems to me would be a better deal. I have a “fixed income”, live alone (by choice) and have to watch what I spend.

With that being said, I have several of your products including another trimmer WG180 40W MAX I’ve never taken out of the box yet (my back up at the time). I’m pleased with the 32V and I’m still using it to this day and plan to use it until it quits.

I had no idea what I was buying at the time, but glad I did. Too bad it was discontinued, but like all good things, they must come to an end. I also purchased the Hydroshot power washer and turbo nozzle, tri-vac,.

aerocart multi-function yard cart, wheelbarrow, rock sling, dolly, etc. that I DO NOT like at all – BAD for me – hurts my back (I assume I don’t know how to use it properly). I will write more reviews in the near future on the other products I purchased.

I loved my WG175. 1 32v trimmer/edger but it finally gave out. Now I find out that WORX has discontinued this model and batteries. I have 2 batteries and charger that are now useless since they will not power anything else.

Very bad business practice of suddenly discontinuing this model without a customer survey in the hope of selling other models. You seem to have taken your business advice from Apple. I am no longer a WORX customer.

Ive had this trimmer a few weeks now, and first let me say my biggest fear was the height. I am 6’4″ and i was worried that i would be uncomfortable using this trimmer. But with the trimmer fully extended and the head tilted just right my hands fall comfortably at my waist no bending required.

This thing does exactly what the commercials and product page says it does. and while no it doesn’t do the things quite as fast as the individual products you can buy the ease of use and the lightweight tool make maintaining your lawn that much easier.

Sure my electric edger cuts deeper into the ground but all i have to edge is some 18×18 pavers creating a walkway through my yard. The electric edger was a pain to get out and onto those bricks, but the GT 2.

0 edged them in at least 1/4 of the time and now we can just clean them up as need be that much easier. The edging though eats up the line, so if you’re going to be doing a lot make sure you order extra.

As for the trimming i have approx. 1. 5 acres with a good chunk of chain link and aluminum fence that with my gas trimmer just ate line. the nice part about this trimmer is that while compared to my gas trimmer yes the power is down comparatively the worx allows for more precision so you can get to that sweet spot along the fence and not tear up the line.

I did my entire fence line on less than one spool whereas the gas trimmer i would have had to rewind 3-5x’s just because you lack the control this thing has. The flower guard works just fine as long as you snap it in place correctly.

and Ive had no problem with the 2 batteries and their life on the property. I have also had no problems with the machine bogging down in long grass and in fact it takes to the long stuff better than my gas one did.

That one would just get all the grass tangled up between the shaft and the head and then just quit. Overall my approach to yard work is make it easy and do bits at a time, which makes this the perfect tool.

you can just pick it up if you see a trouble spot and take care of it. Best of all my wife can also do that if she so chooses making it even better. I have no problem recommending this thing and would definitely buy it again.

Prior to purchasing the clippers, I had been clipping over 150 feet of lariope [monkey grass] border around my house with a pair of sewing scissors. This task took several hours of work down on my hands and knees.

Not fun. Now I can breeze through the entire 150 feet of thick monkey grass border in less than one hour. The clippers completed this task on a single battery charge. I am hoping that these clippers will continue doing their excellent job of making my life so much easier for a long time to come!.

It arrived with the grass shear attached and that worked fine. It was really tricky to put the hedge blade on. The instruction was poor and the pictures bad. Drawings would have been so much better.

light-weight. works as expected. Good job trimming. The hold lock for continuous use is a little lacking.

Do not buy! Still have price tag on this machine is how little I’ve used it. Clutch is out, won’t run on reg gas, only the canned stuff. Now I have a useless pole saw attachment because I will never buy Huskavarna ever again!.

I use this trimmer commercially on about 20 residential properties. It has plenty of power, and isn’t overly heavy on my acreages and customers lots that require a lot of line work. I purchased so I could add the edger attachment later as my edger is almost toast.

The unit is VERY cold blooded. Bogs and hesitates until it’s had a good minute plus run time on fast idle. Doesn’t matter if it’s my 2 stroke mix or Stihl fuel, no difference either way. Good addition to my trailer all considering.

There’s no beating this trimmer. It runs so smoothly, has more power than I expected/need. It’s perfectly balanced, and is literally 6 feet long from end to end, so it’s got a ton of reach and keeps you far back from flying objects and debris.

After I bought mine, a friend came by, tried it and threw down the money to have me order him one on the spot. It’s not California emissions complaint so it runs like a weed eater should, like they ran 20 years ago.

Look no further, you’re not going to do any better for this price point.

This string trimmer convinced me that quality electric motors and lightweight lithium-ion batteries have finally conquered small gasoline engines, at least for the home owner, so long as the batteries last a few seasons (time will tell).

When I began looking for a new string trimmer, I had no intention of purchasing anything other than a gas-powered one. I’ve owned quite a few gas-engine tools over the decades and nave no issues with them.

But after much online and in-store investigation, I decided to try this one from EGO. EGO was not a company I had ever heard of before–not a plus in my book but worth a try I figured as too many once-good older companies have gone down hill as they try to compete with each other on price alone.

I purchased it from my local ACE hardware store (a real brick-and-mortar store and the lowest price of all retailors). My choice appears to have been a very good one. Simply put, I am very impressed with all aspects of this battery-powered tool.

My first test was the steep side of a big ditch, an area about 200-ft long and 4-ft wide. I hadn’t cut it in many years and it was heavily overgrown with weeds and several small pine and oak trees up to about 2-ft high.

I was able to cut it all with 1-1/2 battery charges. Using the low speed setting with the variable-speed trigger fully depressed, a battery charge provided about 45 minutes of continuous run time (just as advertised).

It did not cut thru the little oak tree trunks–I’m not sure any string trimmer would–but the cord would “grab” them and pulled all but the largest one out of the ground. Since then, I’ve used it several times for regular grass trimming.

Compared to gas-powered trimmers, I am really pleased with the tool’s balance, reduced noise, lack of vibration, and instant on/off. Battery charge time is also impressively fast (about one hour for a full charge).

Assembly instructions were clear and assembly was straightforward. I haven’t needed to reload the cord yet, so can’t comment on the PowerLoad system but see no reason it shouldn’t work just fine. Kudos to EGO! Keep the quality up and I will seriously consider an EGO chainsaw when my current gas-powered saw calls it quits.

IšverstiShow in original languageThis should be a 5 star rating, because the trimmer is fantastic. It easily adjusts between a 5’11” user and a 5’2″ user. The power is amazing and easily comparable to our gas trimmer.

We gave this trimmer a hard 1st task of clearing an overgrown brick patio. It exceeded our expectations! We used it for about 45 minutes before the battery needed to be recharged. The bump feed worked well, and the string lasted about two full battery charges before we had to reload.

The Powerload feature worked incredibly well, making reloading new string a breeze! We bought the trimmer with the smallest battery, and we are impressed with the run time and power. Now that we are down to simple maintenance tasks, we have not had to reload the string a 2nd time.

We have had this trimmer for about three weeks now, and we are still very happy with our purchase. The reason for the 4 star rating, is the initial assembly of the ‘locking bolt. ‘ After unfolding the trimmer, the holes for the locking bolt did not align.

You could see that the hinge bolt was over tightened by the marks on the head of the bolt. We had to loosen the hinge bolt, which required quite a bit of force, in order to get the locking bolt holes to align.

An average customer may have returned the trimmer to the store, thinking it was defective. The setup instructions did not say anything about having to loosen the hinge bolt. After we got the locking bolt installed, the trimmer has been nothing short of amazing! The rest of the initial setup went well and we are very pleased with everything else about this wonderful trimmer!.

IšverstiShow in original languageAfter researching for a few months, my wife and I agreed that we wanted the EGO family of tools and started with the mower and string trimmer. The trimmer is great for our property size.

I have a. 44 acre lot. The included 2. 5 battery can do it all in a single charge of I’m quick enough but I usually do my front and back yard on separate days so I have it fully charged anyway. The wireless freedom compared to our corded trimmer is super nice and I don’t have any desire to deal with a gas powered so it’s been great.

I do notice a slightly lower power in the trimmer compared to a gas or corded but I think that is fair to expect for battery powered. I wouldn’t try to take this through anything HEAVILY foliated but for a maintained and taken care of property, this is excellent.

We’re very happy. I gave it 4 stars because of the tiny lack of power in comparison to previous trimmers I’ve owned and there is a single feature I would love to see in the future. A great feature on my corded trimmer is that I can rotate the head so it’s cutting vertical instead of horizontal and it has a metal bar that you can use to guide yourself to edge your lawn with the trimmer.

I really like that feature and would love to see something like that added. Overall, we are more than pleased with our purchase.

IšverstiShow in original languageI have only had the trimmer for a few days so I can’t comment on it’s durability, but I CAN comment on it’s function. I have a large back yard that borders a lake that has a fence running through the middle of it to keep the dogs off the lake during the winter, so I have a BUNCH of fencing to trim around.

I got the Ryobi because I didn’t want to mess with yet another gas engine gizmo that ran terrible half the time, and since I had a bunch of Ryobi ONE+ tools I also had a bunch of batteries. I got it set up with a not fully charged 1.

5ah battery while the included 4ah battery charged. Even with the 1. 5ah batt running at the LOW power setting this trimmer showed the weeds and tall grass who was boss! As the 1. 5ah batt ran down I switched it over to HIGH speed and continued to cut.

I probobly did about 100′ of fence and house trimming on the small battery then switched over to the 4ah and did the same thing: ran it on LOW till the batt started dipping, Ryobi 18V ONE+ 10″ String Trimmer/Edger WITH 1.

IšverstiShow in original languageFor what it is, its ok. It works just fine but the major issue is battery life. We have a fairly small yard front and back. I had to change batteries at least 3 times just for the front yard.

I am so impressed with the trimmer’s ability to maintain the areas I need to maintain. I am able to get all of my trimming done on one battery. I know this may change in the future as the batteries age.

But so far, I am loving it. The trimmer is lightweight and I can even operate it with one hand if I need to reach far away weeds under my pool deck. (Or kill a wasp that got after me. True story. Used it like a light saber and splayed that wasp!).

IšverstiShow in original languagePerfect weed eater. Had been using another brand, but it was too heavy and my arms would tremor for hours after using it. This is great, cuts the thicker weeds well , the string feeds itself out like a dream.

No tremors after I finish using it. Ive landscaped rock on half of my former lawn, so the remainder takes 10 minutes with this treasure. If I run out of power I just swap the battery out from my flashlight, drill, etc and finish the job.

So happy I bought it. I really enjoy the spare battery charger too.

Pros: the cutting blade works much better for me than the ‘string’. easy to replace and off you go!. it’s lightweight and easy to alter for angled cutting ie: lawn edge etc. Having another battery powered tool meant I had a ‘spare’ so cutting time was doubled.

Am very happy with my strimmer.

TranslateShow in original languageIch habe das Gerät vor etwa einem Jahr gekauft. Man muss wissen dass es nicht die gleiche Leistung bringt wie ein Gerät mit Netz-Stromanschluss. Auch bei den Messern oder beim Faden unterscheiden sich die Geister.

Leider hatte ich bei Einhell schon ziemlich zu Beginn ein Problem mit dem Akku. Hier wurde mir aber kulanter weise gut und schnell geholfen. Ich habe das Gerät im Garten verwendet und fand die Schneideleistung für meine Zwecke für befriedigend.

Nachdem Akku Malheure bin ich jetzt aber doch erneut ziemlich angenervt weil das Gerät von einer Sekunde auf die andere nicht mehr funktioniert. Ich kann es mir beim besten Willen nicht erklären. Den Akku habe ich vom Elektriker überprüfen lassen er ist noch in Ordnung.

Jetzt also wieder ein Funktionsproblem. Was soll ich da als Käufer nun denken wenn ich ein Gerät kaufe, das quasi im dreiviertel Jahrestakt nicht funktioniert. Von daher bin ich schlicht von diesem Produkt enttäuscht und kann es nicht mit ruhigem Gewissen weiterempfehlen.

So werde ich es nun als gebraucht für Bastler in ebay verkaufen und mir zukünftig eine andere Marke und dann auch mit Netzanschluß suchen. Dann muss ich zwar das Kabel hinterherziehen hoffe aber auf eine dauerhaftere und fehlerfrei Jahre Nutzung?.

As noted elsewhere, this thing is a beast! Fantastic battery life. Only used low speed (which was plenty) on trimmer for 1/2 hour, and battery was still three bars! Didn’t seem any heavier than my Craftsman gas trimmer.

Those are the pros- here are the cons: 1) The guard is a joke – it stops nothing from hitting you. You must get the DeWalt #N512929 – it stops almost everything. 2) As others have noted, the Husqvarna T35 trimmer head is a much better option.

The OEM head has a gap that lets debris under it and makes it difficult to advance the line. Once you clean it out, it’s fine. until it does it again. One last thing. This is really a design flaw. The cover over the motor has a vented cover with a screen under it to keep dirt and debris out of the motor.

The screen clogs quickly and is difficult to clean. The only way to clean it is with a vacuum. I plan to fashion a different screen to attach over the cover that I could just brush off.

First I am sorry that I bought the last one the store had. But I am not sorry that I bought Dewalt Flexvolt 60v weed trimmer. It is the best weed eater I have own sense I gave up on a gas trimmer. Okay I will get straight to it.

I hate trimming. This beast makes it easy and gets the job done. If it can handle my weeds you will fine it a bit of overkill for those who take care of their yards. I am shock it is light weight and well balanced.

The built-in safety is nice too. Battery life is good on normal use and not bad for a yard out of control. The first time I used it I had a out of control yard so it took 2 Battery charges. I get just over 30 minutes and that is on high power.

I also have a large yard. Now with everything under control I can do whole yard with no problems. I will update this review down the road.

3 July 2022, Okmulgee Co. , Oklahoma: We (senior citizens) agree that when twine is loaded and the battery is charged, our DeWalt string trimmer serves us well. HOWEVER, we have not been able to “reload” or “refill” the string! therefore our investment is Wasted and the machine is useless – we have watched on-line non-commercial vedios.

The INSTRUCTION little booklet which came with the String Trimmer IS TOO SMALL TO READ OR UNDERSTAND what it may be presenting. We have asked friends to help – they fail also! This, now, dust collector was a terrible investiment – – HELP! Ray Harter.

The tool was easy to assemble and easy to use. I already own the following Ryobi 18V tools: Hedge trimmer, 1/2 inch drill, and 1/4 inch driver along with three of the 4 amp batteries and one two amp batteries.

plus two chargers. I have used it to clean the grass and weeds around the fence line, driveway edges, and the curb edging. The edging is not a easy to use as would the straight shaft model with a wheel.

I just could not justify the additional costs of the straight shaft model. This one is much easier and faster than the corded electric string trimmers. The corded electric models would have required me to use 100 feet of cord in the front yard and then move it to the back yard which would be more work and involve more time.

I also have some pasture grass that have a seed shoots that spring up overnight almost which I can now use the trimmer to cut as needed. I thought about getting a model that does not use brushes but again, it would cost more but not run the battery down as often.

My first time using it, I ran a 4 amp battery down to one bar on the power indicator. A model without brushes would not have consumed as much power. But since I have so many batteries and since I had not been using a trimmer around the edges, it worked out fine with me.

It came with. 060string. After I used up the spool of string, I put in. 080 twisted wire string which lasts much longer if the string is not hitting concrete nor asphalt. All in all, I am satisfied with the purchase.

This trimmer is great for smaller properties, but the 18V battery could probably last for a lot longer than my edging requirements demand. The battery charges up in the fast charger very quickly, ready for next use.

The tool itself is light and much easier for me to handle than my old B&D one. With arthritis in both wrists, I need something requiring less effort in order not to aggravate my problems, and this trimmer fits the bill nicely.

I’m meticulous when purchasing tools- bang for the buck. I’m was able to trim the permitter of my 1600 sq feet lawn using this trimmer without any issues. Make sure you have a 2 + volt battery. Keep your fingers on the power trigger to save on line feed-not an issue.

It’s very light and no more complains from my son and wife when helping me with the trimming exercise. Also, the height of the trimmer is perfect for both me and my son who is 6’ 2” and I’m 5’ 10”. The price is right when they include the battery – promotion.

I love that you can use their 18 volts battery on all their tools-own the 5 1/2 circular saw and work light. Recently purchased the battery starter battery kit – two 4 amps with charger. I use these batteries on all three tools with no issues.

Trust me, I did due diligence before buying these tools with my hard earn income! Tip: spray the bottom with WD40 to keep the grass from sticking to the rubber base of the trimmer. It works! I’m a home owner in North York.

I bought this at CT on sale with the twin 2. 0 amp batteries after my 20 year old Weed Eater expired and reading the reviews that said the Worx handled their residential trimming requirements adequately.

The machine does work fairly well but the batteries are insufficient for my needs. I get about 20 minutes run time and I need an hour. I considered upgrading to the larger batteries but the price is prohibitive and I do not own any Worx battery powered products to make the investment worthwhile.

After three full charge and use cycles, I decided to go back to a gas powered trimmer. I purchased a base model from a major brand for considerably less than the battery upgrades would have cost me and was less than the initial sale price of the Worx trimmer with the twin 2.

0 amp batteries. The Worx trimmer is the first time I used a straight shaft and I prefer the curved shaft which seems more forgiving at avoiding gouges. Bottom line, if you don’t have other PowerShare batteries and only need 20 or so minutes, or don’t mind multiple charges to finish the job, the Worx trimmer with the twin 2.

0 amp batteries will work fine.

This is a good string trimmer. At 40V, it has lots of power, and a long trim time. A bit heavy, but not too much. What I don’t like about it is that the trimmer is a standard height, which is a bit too tall for me.

Also, I’m not very good at rewinding the two-string models, but it reels out nicely when it gets short. Batteries recharge quite quickly! The battery life indicator isn’t really necessary. Although handy, it probably uses minimum power.

I would give 5 stars if it wasn’t a two-string model, and if it wasn’t so tall. Overall, it’s a good trimmer!.

I’ve had this trimmer for about a year and it really delivers on battery life. I have a large property and have to use a gas trimmer for the bulk of my trimming, but around the gardens and walkways, the Worx trimmer is easier to use and less messy.

It’s hard for me to keep the buttons depressed because the positioning is a little inconvenient. It wastes as lot of line as well. I have to carry a pair of pliers with me when I trim to unjam the line.

I’d say that about 25% of the time that I spend is unjamming the trimmer line, but most trimmers with line spools do that. Still, It does a good job and I don’t need ear protection!.

3 months experience. Works fine for the brief time that the line lasts. It doesn’t seem to feed new line very well. We’re fed up with the original line breaking, and have had to rewind it (manual diagram M) twice.

It is an awkward device to hold at the right angle for cutting. Two friends who borrowed it have declined to do so again. The wheel that attaches to the guard, so the device can be rolled vertically along the edge of the lawn, merely clips on and has now started to pop off at inopportune times.

Not really what is expected of Bosch.

I bought this yesterday and fully charged the battery before using it. Battery lasted half an hour. For Bosch this is a poor quality product. Should be priced closer to £50. Bosch are trading on their name with this product.

Really disappointed.

I already had some Bosch power tools, including batteries and charger. This item was ideal for my small garden and the Power4All system is excellent. Great quality and certainly not disappointed!

The trimmer quality is good, but with 2ah battery it’s works too short time. I change the line to the square line, replaced the battery to the 4ah (BL4018), and hell YES !!! Very good stuff !

Ottima l’idea del carrellino per avere una rasatura orizzontale perfetta.

Va usato solo se l’erba non è troppo alta, altrimenti viene schiacciata ed è difficile tagliarla. Dovrebbe essere utilizzato una volta a settimana, massimo due (secondo me). Cosa non ti è piaciuto: Unica pecca sono le istruzioni.

Penso di essere uno dei pochi che legge le istruzioni di tutto quello che compra. Non ho ancora ben capito il meccanismo di rilascio del filo, Le istruzioni sono poco chiare e sommarie. Ma il prodotto è davvero intuitivo da usare, quindi si potrebbe anche sorvolare.

Ovviamente il manuale pone la maggiorparte dell’attenzione alla sicurezza: pur non essendo performante come un modello a benzina è comunque uno strumento da lavoro. Quindi è importante avere sempre gli indumenti adatti e soprattutto gli occhiali.

On trouve facilement une bonne position d’utilisation. Même avec ses batteries, l’appareil reste équilibré. Les petites roues sont un vrai plus pour dresser les bordures. La qualité du fil est digne des matériels pro: il est quasi impossible de le casser.

L’avance automatique fonctionne très bien. Le fait de pouvoir utiliser les mêmes batteries sur toute la gamme Worx est un vrai plus. En résumé, je conseille ce produit sans réserves. Cosa non ti è piaciuto: Avec les batteries de 2 AH, l’autonomie est vraiment très faible.

Comme indiqué plus haut l’appareil est puissant et cela se ressent au niveau de la consommation. Il faut absolument prévoir des batteries supplémentaires de plus grande capacité. Bravo pour les petites roues mais pourquoi ne pas avoir intégré une protection pour les fleurs et/ou plantes? C’est vraiment un manque.
