20 Best Hairbrush For Straight Hair (2023 Updated)

I never really had much thought on what type of hair brush to get, just had one with firm/nylon bristles for detangling and one with boar bristles for when my hair is looking stringy. I typed in hair brush on amazon when my last brush broke and was about to order a $6 one when I noticed the reviews on this one.

I still didn’t think much of it but decided it might be worth a try. I seriously can’t stop brushing my hair! It feel sooooo lovely. I find myself absentmindedly wandering into my bathroom to pick it up and brush my hair all the time.

AND hilariously, my great dane puppy will usually “talk” at me until I brush her head too. Yes. It feels THAT good. For reference I have long, fine hair that tends towards oily. Detangling can be a bear for my hair type! With this brush, there’s a little bit of a learning curve because, if you have long, fine hair that is tangled, you know you have to start at the ends.

But it doesn’t work that way with this brush and at first you might think it doesn’t work right. But if you just brush roots to ends, and the tangles work their way out while you get an incredible head massage! The only thing I will say that might be a slightly negative is that the boar bristles don’t work as well at fixing the “stringy”/slightly dirty look as a plain boar brush.

But I have one of those that works fine so it’s no biggie for me. I do find that after a couple months of using this brush my hair is looking fuller (I think because less hairs are getting broken) and shinier! The reviews are dead on.

It is amazing! I’m buying one for everyone I love at the holidays!.

I have a lot of fine gray curly/wavy hair (3A but 2A/2B when long &/or not washed for a couple of days as a large amt of fine strands get weighed down). I get horrible tangles on the back of my head right at the scalp from wearing hair up when I sleep.

Hardest place to detangle yourself which causes neck strain & a lot of damaged hair. I have spent hours & even days getting these out. I just received my new brush Creme of Nature Pure Honey Detangler.

Planned on brushing thru what I could before washing, but brush worked so well,, I got the whole thing out in 1/2 hr with help from a small amt of the detangler on the toughest part (on dry hair). The brush feels really nice too; I actually enjoy brushing my hair again! Also, some reviews showed pics of brush breaking but all appear to be an older design or different brush The new vertical design shown with round handle seems very sturdy.

It’s rare I’m pleasantly surprised by products these days, but this brush & the detangler, which also smells great (link below) get 5 stars!.

This company does something others rarely do, it thanks for seller feedback. Every moment we take to positively further the company or product should be positively acknowledged just as I’m sure they all did when they were just starting out.

This soapbox is really high! The brush. My hair was longer with no haircut in sight when I ordered this. I’m in a nursing facility healing and somehow randomly I got a crazy short haircut maybe the day I later received the brush.

So my my hair is like a couple of millimeters long. But I was really looking forward to the brush. So I had one of the nurses open it for me and we were both oohing and ahhing as she took it out of the box.

It’s all futuristic looking and feeling. Now for when I finally used it. It was so pretty and the bristles so cool to the touch I decided to keep it. I have put myself to sleep brushing my scalp with this.

Regardless of how short my hair is, the CNA’s washing my head STILL struggle getting it completely clean. So sometimes I take this dream in the shower. Great in the shower. Sometimes after the shower I lie in bed just running it all over my scalp until I wake up from a deep sleep like I took a bottle of booze to bed with me.

I love this thing. My scalp is dry due to lack of moisturization on my part. Otherwise I would be rubbing my head to dreamland right now. My hair is crazy thick and curly and I’m so curious to see how it does with regular length hair.

Aka so much work I want to cry length. Will update once I get to know that or this bad boy goes kaput.

Mahalo for this brush! I remember having these types of brushes when I was little and for some reason they’ve stopped making them. The bristle got super hard and hurtful in the scalp. The brushes changed designs with the softer bristles.

It became weaker and breakable. This is why I’ve always been picky on the brush I buy. I’ve only found a couple that I was able to use but not like this! I’m definitely buying a few more. I’ve been using it everyday and my hair ha been very soft and more straight than it usually would be.

Especially after showering. It became very easy to brush through and manageable. When dried my hair stays as it is. It does frizz up or get worst in drying. I do have to continue to brush my hair when it gets all messed up again.

But there’s not much tangles like I used to have before. This is also easy in the hair so you’re not losing strands or causing breakage in the hair follicles like MOST brushes do. Thanks again for this fine brush! Can’t wait for the other to arrive.

I am so beyond happy with this brush. I needed a brush that will help de tangle my hair while I’m in the shower. I initially purchased the detangling comb and that was a nightmare. My hair is very long and thick and that comb hurt my head so bad and the space between the teeth were too far apart so smaller knots would just go between the teeth so I’d have to go back with the point of the comb to brush out the knots.

It was too time consuming. Then this brush came into my life. This comb is straight to the point, detangles all of my hair in about 4 minutes, 2 minutes on each side when I section my hair. It’s super fast, it’s curved so it fits and curves nicely to your head.

The comb bends. It’s definitely fine if it gets wet or you submerge it into water because it’s all plastic, not like a brush where I’m sure adhesive is used to stick the teeth to the paddle. I 100% recommend this brush, you won’t regret it.

I honestly couldn’t understand the hype about this brush until I actually bought it. Let me tell you, this brush is amazing. I have long, wavy/curly hair and this brush glids through my hair with ease.

It doesn’t pull or snag my hair out like other similar brushes. It’s gentle on the scalp, it glids smoothly, softens the hair and its great on wet or dry hair. I have very little fall out with this brush.

It is now one of my favorites. Also this brush is flexible and moves, almost forming to your scalp. Absolutely love it!.

Spornette Prego brushes are THE BEST! I’ve owned a few different sizes over the years that i use to straighten my naturally wavy hair. The metal barrel heats up, which helps with smoothing while blow drying.

I have a large barrel for the lengths of my hair and a smaller one for areas on the top/crown since the large barrel can’t get close enough.

5 inch to test it out and loved it so much I just bought the 3inch. BOTH ARE AMAZING. Both grab my hair and cut my blow dry time down and make my hair look smooth! Totally recommend these brushes! 🙂 Plus the grip is really comfortable and manageable as I try to curl out the bottom of my hair and bangs.

I was using a ceramics brush to style my hair but the bottom came off and the brush part came out of the vent holes! I tried like crazy to get them back in the holes properly but nothing worked. Soooo, for past few months I’ve been on the hunt for another one.

I couldn’t find one, anywhere. I ended up trying CHI brushes, every brush that had similar look/material in Sally’s beauty and a few off the Internet. None have worked. Either they didn’t hold the hair enough to get a grip when turning the brush, or they didn’t let the hair slide to achieve the smooth shine I prefer (I have thick naturally wavy hair that is difficult to straighten).

I am beyond thankful to have found these brushes. That’s the reason I’m leaving this review. I was going mad looking for something that worked and wanted to save someone else the time. I’m paying it forward baby!!!.

One of the worst cushion brushes I’ve ever used. I’ve owned a few Revlon brand brushes in the past, and being a trusted name brand in beauty I had confidence in the brand when making my purchase decision online since it was during the pandemic lockdown and I wasn’t able to physically touch the brush beforehand to get a better idea of the quality.

I regretted my decision the first time I ran the brush through my hair. The cushion effect did perform as expected, but the bristles that protrude from the cushion on this brush are metal with a tiny round platic ball on each end to protect the metal from scratching and damaging the skin on your scalp.

Well, the first time I used the brush these tiny little balls started coming off and getting stuck throughout my hair. I ended up having to go through with a teasing comb just to find them all and get them out of my hair.

So the next time I tried using the brush, not only did the same thing happen with even more pieces I had to fish out of my hair, but in addition, all the metal bristles that the balls came off of were now just sharp metal spines sticking out of the cushion causing them to dig in and scratch my scalp so bad one spot started bleeding.

I wasn’t even using much pressure to brush my hair because I was instantly reminded of the exposed metal bristles when I started brushing my hair and it hurt. I was only able to use the brush maybe 5-6 times before all of the protective caps on every bristle were gone and I was just brushing my scalp with sharp pieces of metal, which at that point hurt my scalp too bad to even run the brush lightly through my hair as I have very fine, straight hair that allows the bristles to all have direct contact with the skin on my scalp.

I was surprisingly disappointed at the lack of quality of this brush, because Revlon has been a trust brand in the beauty industry for decades. It seems like everything is becoming more expensive but the quality of products is plummeting nonetheless.

Sad, but it is what it is, I guess. I just know I won’t be purchasing Revlon brand products again unless I’m able to physically see, touch, determine the quality before I make my purchase decision.

Having a good hair brush is absolutely essential if you have long hair. I bought several hair brushes this year after somehow losing my favorite one. I tried a few different kinds and they all were terrible, the bristles we’re too stiff and literally hurt my head to use, or they were spaced too far apart from each other and wouldn’t get through any tangles.

Finally I came across this Revlon hairbrush. The soft grip is amazing, gives me more control. The bristles are perfect, as Goldilocks said, not too hard, not to soft, it was juuuuuust right. It was a bit expensive for a hairbrush but if you want quality you gotta pay.

I feel super silly leaving a review for hair brush. But this one is so amazing I just had to! I used to buy the As Seen on TV hair brushes that work really well at detangling but after a while I started to feel like it wasn’t doing my thick wavy/curly hair any good.

I got this brush after I’ve been sick and couldn’t brush my hair for two weeks, I know that’s sad but I would get super duper sick where I can’t do anything. I was afraid it was going to take me forever to brush out my hair and that I was going to need detangler however I was pleasantly surprised to find that this brush glided right through my thick hair Tangles and all with no problem! I thought it was going to take me an hour to brush my hair because it was so tangled I thought I was going to have to cut it because it was so tangled but nope this brush handled it like a boss! It’s cheaper than the As Seen On TV brushes I think I got this for about 6 bucks at Walgreens super duper happy with how well it works highly recommend!.

I love this Brush! As someone with very curly hair, and tender headed to boot unfortunately, I have always hated brushing my hair. No amount of product has seemed to make a lot of difference. I found that this brush is that difference! I can use it dry, but the real key for myself is to use it when my hair is wet and has a little product it in, such as detangling cream or leave in conditioner.

There is little to no hair loss compared to before when there was a lot. My hair has even gotten thicker since using it, and I am pretty sure its because my brush doesn’t pull all my hair out now! Also, I used to wince with every swipe of the brush, and I don’t now.

This is a great purchase for anyone tender-headed or with lots of tangles. I found that despite what some say, brushing my hair wet is better because of the type of hair I have. #haircare.

I really like this brush. We just bought this brush for our daughter as her old one brush (different brand) is getting worn out is starting to be hard to brush with. That old one is now our back up when we can’t find this one we just got.

I like that there is none of those ball things on the end of the bristles on this brush that other brushes usually have. Her old brush had those. Those ball things are annoying as only some of them fall off then your brush starts snagging breaking your hair even if you are being gentle as can be.

I love that this brush is very gentle on your hair when brushing. I let my 6yr old daughter learn to brush her hair on her own with it as I don’t have to worry about her snagging her hair with the brush crying to get the brush out as it gets tangles out super easily.

Her hair normally gets tangles in it very easily so I brush it at least twice a day.

I am literally without words because I am eating mine after seeing an advertisement for this hair brush on FB. I thought, “yeah right. Let the hairbrush meet my kid. ” She has Autism and Epilepsy. So brushing her hair has always been a long process because of the brushing and crying.

She doesn’t like having her hair even cut unless I trim it. So it is long. EEG’s are horrible and tangled mess. I decided to try it since I could return it if I didn’t like it. My jaw dropped because my daughter had her normal tangles and I was done in less than 5 minutes.

I have medium-length straight somewhat-fine hair with longer layers, and finding a good brush has been tough. Forever, I had been using the Spornette 964-XL Double Stranded Nylon Round Brush. However, the nylon bristles would tangle so badly that I would use a new brush every few months.

I took a chance with this new brush and am so glad I did. I got the large 855 size and it grips my hair perfectly. It also makes my hair feel very soft. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is, like some other reviewers mentioned, because of the wooden handle.

I definitely miss having a rubber grip handle, and after some time my hand hurts a bit. I’m thinking of getting some self-adhesive wrap bandages to wrap the handle. Other than that, it’s a great brush!.

I really love this brush. Although it is a my first brush, I do not regret investing in 854. I live in Singapore, where humidity is 90% all year round and as a result, my hair became really frizzy over the years.

However, this brush really helps in reducing friziness and also gives my hair a matted shine which is amazing to slide my hands through. I also love the triangle shaped wooden handle which is simply a luxury to hold and grip.

I am not sure if all these frizz-reducing effects are also due to the double effect of applying “Sedu Anti-Frizz Polishing Treatment with Moroccan Argan Oil” before blow-drying, but it works mini miracles to light up your night, and the morning after.

🙂 However, I find that the boar bristles tangle with each other easily and I also have to untangle them to prolong it’s life. In the process of untangling, some bristles also come out. I find about 4-7 strands of hair inside after each brushing session, but I think it’s normal and worth it for the shine it gives at the end of the blow-drying session!.

This is a great grill for indoors. It is easy to use, to cook on and to clean. It is compact and made sturdy. It has a griddle to use for frying eggs, pancakes, and hamburgers. The price was great also!.

My daughter has very thick, long hair that easily tangles. We have tried just about every detangling brush on the market and I have threatened to cut her hair often when working through thick knots. This brush is wonderful! The nylon bristles detangle as the boar bristles redistribute the oils.

Her hair looks great and she doesn’t cry when she brushes her hair now.

I finally got my preteen daughter to start using a paddle brush and she ended up confiscating mine, so purchased this. I love Spornette’s single mold design (no little cracks or seems that your hair can get stuck in when you use it to blow dry).

Would have rated 5 stars except that at times I feel like the bristles can feel scratchy or stiff on my scalp. It’s nice and light.

I love this brush because it has the longer bristles that reach to the scalp, but also all the dense bristles that smooth my crazy flyaways. I have curly hair that I straighten or pull back, and this brush does a great job.

This literally just arrived in the mail. I went for a sauna, a swim and then I spent 3 hours with my thick half wet half dry -due to the humidity- hair in a clip. When Lou my postie came round, I opened it up, thought I would try the brush and here I am… do it! Just buy it.

You will not be disappointed if you have thick, unmanageable hair. I’ve not know your hair brushes actually make a difference and thought I was destined for a tangled, painful mess! Not any more my lives, life changed!.

This brush worked great for the first approximately 3 months, when it cracked and broke on one side. I fixed it as best as I could with some super strong tape, and then the other side cracked and broke about 3 weeks later.

Fixed it in the same way. Worked for about a month when it cracked in the middle, and broke away from the paddle. In short, the brush broke completely in half in about 6 months. My hair is somewhat thick, not too long, and tangles easily.

This brush did really well detangling, but if it’s so flimsy that I have to continuously replace it, there is no point in buying another. I would not buy this product again.

Purchased two different sizes for my medium length, fine, thin wavy hair. My curl pattern is 2B & 2C. I have been using a very old Olivia Garden 100% boar bristle brush, and in general like it, but it was not giving me the volume desired.

First few passes of the Ceramic+ Ion, I was blown away at how fast my hair was drying. I hate blow drying my hair. My bathroom gets very hot and I stop frequently to stand in front of my fan. Volume was amazing.

However, as I worked through my hair which is only in 6 small sections for my entire head I started noticing my hair was not getting smooth. The section dries so quickly I don’t get a chance to straighten it.

Mind you, I don’t like my hair stick straight so that was not an expectation. By the time I was done I kept rewetting my hair to obtain some measure of smoothness. I also noticed the ends of my hair are extremely dry.

With the boar brush I usually start at the ends first, then go to the top and back through the ends for curl. I did not get that chance as my hair was already really dried. Unfortunately, will be returning.

I have owned similar, more expensive round, ceramic/tourmaline brushes that I purchased from the salon. The rubber grips on those handles would slip and fall off. I was looking for new hairbrushes, and saw these at Ulta.

They come in a variety of sizes. I ordered one in a large diameter for the top layers, and one in a thinner diameter to curl the bottom layer and back of my hair under. I have a modern take on a classic, angled bob cut, and the two brushes made styling my hair super fast and easy.

My hair was smooth and I barely needed to flat iron to finish. I read other reviews saying the brush didn’t grab hair. My hair is thick and course, and both size brushes held my hair without slipping or grabbing.

These brushes may not work for super fine, thin hair, but for me they are perfect!.

Reviewing this lifesaver of a hair tool is an absolute MUST. The 2 1/8 size is perfect. I went into Ulta to buy a few things and realized that I needed to get a new round brush. I saw that this product had 1K plus reviews and thought I would try it out.

I tried it out on my curtain bangs first and I’ve never seen them “swoop” so nicely. I generally have a ton of frizz after blow drying and had absolutely zero frizz and minimal flyaways after using this the first time.

It cut my hair straightening time in half which is a huuuuge deal because I dread blow drying and straightening after a wash due to having thick and long hair. My hair feels so manageable as if I just left my hairdressers salon.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

This particular hairbrush is wonderful. I have tried all kinds of hairbrushes but this one permits you to deal with the curling your hair or to straighten your hair and to give it volume and it lasts a long time.

It works when drying your hair because your hair does not get stuck like it does in several pressures and it enables you to follow the movements in your hair while driving it with no issues.

Now that I found the right hair brush for my thinning hair, I am impressed and like the difference of an ordinary hair brush to this Boar Bristle Hair Brush. My only suggestion is it should be light weight especially for us senior citizen using it.

Based on the other pictures I have seen of this brush, I can only assume that they have made upgrades for the version I have. Common complaints I have seen are that the letter are sharp or come off or that the brush falls apart easily.

The brush I have has a recessed Dry Bar logo and it does not bother me at all. My hair loves this brush. It feels wonderful on my scalp. I find myself making excuses to brush my hair and have gotten into the routine of always brushing before bed.

I am incredibly happy with this purchase and would absolutely recommend the Dry Bar Flat Mate to anyone looking for a boar bristle brush.

Great brush, worth the splurge. I have long, uncolored, wavy thin hair. I also have a scalp condition, and thought that a boar bristle hair brush would help distribute oils better. I will say you can definitely tell the difference in oil distribution.

It is also so gentle on my hair and scalp. Yes the lettering came off the handle, but I don’t see how that’s an important feature. If you don’t want to buy a $250 brush, definitely buy this one.

Highly recommend this brush, I had heard that boar bristles are amazing for the hair shaft and the scalp due to the natural oils in them, so I finally splurged and grabbed one. I love it. The bristles feel so good on my scalp and they grab the hair and really detangle and brush through without using much force at all, literally none.

My hair has been shinier and healthier after, so whatever this magic brush is doing, I’m happy with my splurge and now I see what others have been talking about with boar bristles.
