20 Best Hair Product For Breakage And Split Ends (2023 Updated)

This is the lightest heat protector I’ve used. My hair is very thin, seems to get thinner every day. Breaking off, dry, damaged, highlights, curly and thin. Most heat protectants make my hair feel like there’s something in it, which makes me feel like I need to wash it again.

which kinda adds even more damage because I’ve been trying to just wash 2-3x/week because I use the blow dryer brush then straightening iron afterwards to reduce frizz. My hair is seriously in bad shape lately so I’m glad I found a lightweight heat protector.

It’s so light part of me wonders if I’m using enough. I hope it helps with the fried hair. To dispense it, I just turn the bottle over and tap the bottom A small drop comes out, and I use between 15-25 drops each time.

The instructions say to use “a metered drop” but I don’t feel like that’s enough even though my hair is super thin, and shoulder length. Maybe I’m wrong, I’d love some feedback on how many drops everyone uses and I would also love to know like.

how heat protectors work. Obviously it can’t reduce all the damage. but, maybe how much % less damage do you get when you use this? I like it because it’s lightweight and you’d have to spend a lot of time getting too much out, so I don’t run the risk of using too much product, because I have a bad habit of that since my hair is in such bad shape.

I’m always trying to add more products to make it “appear” healthier. I also use the #3 and I really like that. About to purchase my 2nd bottle of that along with the primer and hopefully it will help my hair out.

This is a small bottle but it will DEFINITELY last me probably close to a year. maybe a little less, but close, so it seems worth it to me. Adds a pretty shine, doesn’t help my flyaways much, I guess I just have too many at the current moment :(.

After constantly struggling with extremely dry, damaged hair I decided to try Olaplex and although the other products in this line weren’t magical, this oil is. I’ve tried several ways to help bring my hair back to life and was about to give up.

I cut my hair up to my shoulders from about armpit length ( my hair also barely grows due to breakage) and purchased the olaplex No 7, and the Kerastase resistance Shampoo and Conditioner designed for damaged weak hair.

I wash my hair every other day or sometimes skip 2 days before shampooing and just rinse and condition my hair on my between days. After my shower I put 2 shakes of this oil in my hair when it is still pretty damp but not soaking wet and finger comb my hair.

Then in the morning when my hair is completely dry I add one or two more shakes into my palms, rub my hands together, and run my fingers throughout my hair and then pretend I’m doing a pony tail to really coat the top layer of my hair.

This oil smells really good with a light scent and is very lightweight so I think it would be difficult to over do it but I’d still recommend starting small until you know your perfect amount for your own hair type and length.

My hair feels extremely soft and healthy ( I know the haircut helped a ton with that ) but even the top of my hair feels amazing and no longer dry from breakage due to blow drying and straightening. If you only wanna try 1 thing from Olaplex try this product first.

I think personally it’s the best of all their products and will last you a VERY long time so it is well worth the almost $30. Also try Kerastase if you are really struggling with your hair! Much love, Sam.

I’ve never used any type of split end lotion, though I’ve used tons of shampoos and conditioners that claim to help with the issue. None have worked like this has. I have mid-back length, color-treated hair; I flat-iron it probably twice a week and so I have a lot of split ends.

I don’t get my hair cut often enough because I’m a pregnant mom with a toddler and I’m just too tired!! This has actually made a difference, though. I think it works best after washing on wet hair, though it can be used for touch-ups on dry hair.

I don’t understand how it works, but it glues your strands back together! It makes my hair look a lot neater and my ends don’t look so straggly. I’d like to keep growing my hair down to my lower back, and I think this will help me do that! Give it a try; if you have split ends, you’re going to like this.

I was recommended this product by an amazing hairdresser. She used this product on my washed hair just before she trimmed it. We started talking about split ends ends and she gave me the bottle and told me to have a read through it.

It sounded pretty cool so I bought it to try it some more. So far I haven’t seen a big difference but I will say the ends of my hair are still looking healthy and I cannot see any split ends and usually before I started using this product I would get split ends a few weeks after cutting my hair.

I tried the Gold Series split end treatment with Argan Oil from Pantene. This product is sulfate, paraben and dye free. It is used to strengthen against damage and split ends, as well as, provide intense conditioning.

Each bottle is 0. 5 fl oz. , which is enough to cover an entire head of hair. I have shoulder length natural hair and this definitely was all I needed. I used this product on my 4c, thick curly, coily hair texture after shampooing and conditioning like I usually do.

Now at first, I thought this wouldn’t work because I have tried the the shampoo and it didn’t work for me, it left my hair feeling hard. With this product, as soon as I applied it to my hair, I noticed my hair softened even more.

I could come trough tangles easily with my fingers and my hair responded like, this was what it was missing. Upon opening the product, I didn’t have to cut the tube or poke it with a pin, I just twist off the cap and the product was ready to use.

I followed the instruction of leaving the product on my hair for 5-7 minutes, I chose to leave it on for 7 minutes to get more conditioning. After rinsing the product out, there was no residue left in my hair was stiff left soft to touch, smoother ends and manageable coils.

This treatment almost like a serum for my hair because it was definitely stronger and more nourishing than any conditioner I’ve ever tried. I applied it while taking a shower–after using shampoo and conditioner and rinsing both out–by ringing the water out of the ends of my hair so it was damp rather than soaking wet, squeezing some of the product onto one hand and rubbing both hands together to coat them, then massaging the damp ends of my hair, which were in desperate need of some TLC because I have A LOT of split ends.

I waited about 5 minutes before rinsing Split-less Ends out of my hair. What’s great is that I’m able to get several uses out of each little tube, because a little bit of this product seems to go a long way.

I’ve only been using this for a few weeks now (several times a week), and my hair definitely looks and feels much healthier, and I love that it has argan oil in it! Before using this product, the ends of my hair felt stiff and dry all the time.

✨Oribe Moisture and Control shampoo and conditioner ✨ This line is meant to provide intense moisture, while providing softness and frizz control— and typically for thick and/or wavy or curly hair. Frizz really isn’t an issue for me in Colorado, however — I consider my hair to be “stravy” (mostly straight with a soft wave) and SUPER DRY during winter, so I definitely wanted to try this out to remedy the dryness.

Also, the gorgeous packaging might’ve gotten me, too. 😆 Oribe really created a stunning dynamic duo here with the packaging. ✨ So after using this for a couple months, I’ve come to the conclusion that the product pair follows through on its claims (styled with Oribe Maxxinista spray and blown out with curling iron waves) for the finish look if you slide (filtered pic, though, too— so make of it what you prefer).

In the shower, I don’t feel as if this conditioner provides enough slip for me. I find my hair becomes tangled with the conditioner, so I try to gently comb it through before rinsing— but I’ve never really had that issue with other luxury hair care brands.

So that part is a little less than ideal in my experience and has me curious about if the mask would work better on my hair or maybe a different family in the Oribe line. I give it a 8/10 because I do feel like it smooths and hydrates the hair, leaves quite a bit of shine, and that signature Oribe scent is heaven.

😍👌🏽I just wish it would give way more slip and detangle better. A couple other Oribe products that I need to review yet are the beach wave spray, dry texturizing spray, and the soft lacquer spray that initially drew me to Oribe over 10 years ago.

It is a leave-in conditioner and heat protector in one! Smells amazing, goes on nicely, leaves my hair feeling so soft and healthy.

I wish this wasn’t so good! Lol. It’s an expensive product but it is incredible. I struggle finding a product like this that doesn’t make my hair look super greasy and gross or weigh it down. This gives me the shine I want (I don’t have to use a lot) without the gross issues my hair looks so healthy even though I just used a blow dryer and straightened it.

My hair looks great for DAYS. It’s worth the money, but this line is so expensive. It doesn’t have a strong scent which can be a pro or con for some. My only problem with it is that it’s not a heat protectant.

So I have to use another product with it which bothers me. Still…. worth it lol. I feel like they need to make it protect against heat. Then it would be the perfect product. I’m not taking away a star for that because (yes I keep saying it) it’s worth it.

La texture très liquide m’a surprise au premier abord mais on a besoin de très peu de produit à l’application. Après le shampooing, cette lotion a considérablement renforcé mes pointes. Donc je recommande amplement ce produit.

I want to love this product because I love every other Sexy Hair product I have tried, but I just don’t. I bought it thinking it was a spray, but its a pump. And a teeny tiny pump at that. I have a ton of hair and need to get more product out than it allows me which is really frustrating.

I’m so serious this stuff is magic. I bleached my hair to the point of it melting off and use olaplex pretty regularly. I have colored my hair since the bleach (it looked terrible) and of course that had some effect on my hair as well.

With olaplex I got my hair back to being decently healthy however I still had the WORST split ends. The first day I bought this stuff and used it I saw significant change in my hair. My split ends were tamed and my hair as a whole felt so much softer.

Of course the only real solution to split ends is getting them cut off however this product is perfect for someone who wants to let their hair grow a little before cutting off those few inches.

I purchased this after reading the reviews, though I was skeptical because I’ve been told that split ends cannot be actually repaired. Wrong! My long, thick, ultra dry bleached blond hair was extremely damaged.

I used this product on my ends and after a gentle blow dry and very light touch up on the ends I was amazed. Instead of looking like the bottom of a broom (which is how they normally look even with products) my ends gently curved under and they were soft to the touch.

A true miracle. I used this in combination with the other Repair 88 (applied evenly over my hair). Definitely purchasing both again!.

On just shampooed, still damp hair, before you’ve combed it, massage two squirts of product into hair. Let sit a couple minutes, then comb through hair. Hair is relaxed and combs smoothly. This is a leave in product.

Has a nice light fragrance. Your hair dries smooth and soft. Aids is less breakage and prevents split ends. Does not leave any perceptible residue after drying. Just wish Redken did not revise this product.

The new “improved” product isn’t as good, leaves a heavy feel to the hair like you wish you’d rinsed it out. Stock up on this version while it’s still available.

I’ve applied Moroccan oil to my mids/ends for several years now for extra conditioning. My hair is fine to medium with slight wave, I typically air dry and style with heat very minimally. As my hair is getting longer, I wanted to try something new to help mend a few split ends and prevent future breakage.

Unfortunately, after a month of use, I have MORE split ends and overall dryness than before, to the point of contemplating cutting several inches off my hair because it looks so terrible with the use of this product.

I’m going back to oil!.

The dispenser does not work properly. It took 20 pumps to get any action. What a terrible design. As for the product, I find it a bit too “heavy” for ends that are flat ironed. It may be fine when my hair is “natural”/WITH LEAVE-IN.

I don’t doubt the quality, but this is not the first time a bottle design from The Mane Choice has been a disappointment. One oil leaked all over my gym bag once and another spray bottle never worked so I transferred it to another bottle.

I received the Split End Serum complimentary from Virtue in exchange for my honest review. Right off the bat, I appreciated that this product doesn’t smell strong or chemical like a lot of other hair products I’ve tried.

The texture is thick-ish, like lotion consistency. I used a little more than recommended because I have very long hair. While I haven’t actually seen a difference in my real split ends, it does help quite a bit with frizz and fly-aways.

Since I live in a place with lots of humidity (Florida), these issues can be a major problem, but this serum really helped keep my hair where I wanted it to be. I look forward to seeing the improvements in my hair as I make my way through the bottle!.

This is my favorite product I’ve tried so far from Virtue. I feel like it’s a very versatile product. I put it on 3/4 if my hair just not roots for heat protection and also does make my ends look less frayed and pointing g every which way.

I don’t have a lot of hair so I do not need very much. Makes me feel like I can have a little flexibility in how much heat I use. It especially makes the bleached parts of my hair look less damaged. I’m really loving this serum.

I am going through menopause have fibromyalgia and Hashimoto thyroid, which all cause dry brittle thinning hair. I was skeptical at first, but I have used this for the past two months, and before that another in the range along with the intense serum and they work amazingly.

I was really excited to try this but I can’t use it consistently because the smell is so unappealing to me. In my opinion, it smells like mould. as a hairstylist who is well versed in trying tons and tons of new products all the time, i have not found many products that i absolutely love. especially from this brand, i tend to have trouble with some of their formulas.

this being said, i genuinely LOVE this product. it is one of the best split end lotions ive ever found. the difference between when i dont use this product and when i do use this product is astronomical.

without this product, my ends look frizzy and you can see all the little points of breakage or splits. with this product i swear i cant see any of these issues even examining my hair ends under great lighting.

as some of the worse reviews for this product say, it is thick. i know the bottle says it can be used on dry hair, but personally, i use it as my last product after my leave in and my heat protectant.

3 years ago when I first got into balayage my colourist used this on my hair and I was hooked. The smell? Amazing. The way my hair feels? Amazing. Adorable? Heck yeah. I always pick this up when I get my hair coloured (once a year!!!!!) it lasts that long! This stuff is magic.

This product was suggested to me by my hair stylist. It’s a split end sealer lotion and that’s exactly what it does. I have had no problems with split ends since using this product. Just a little dab in your palm, then smoothed through the ends of your hair is enough.

(Seriously. I have naturally curly hair, and know the “dime-sized drop” myth. This one is serious!) On top of loving how this product works, the smell is wonderful. Mango butter is my new favorite! Try this!.

This hair oil is super affordable and a little goes a long way. I have super long hair and I was able to coat the entire length of my hair with very little oil. There isn’t much of a scent, which I don’t mind.

The story behind the “Save Me” name is that the founder (April Peck) lost her sister to suicide and designed a brand that donates 10% of the proceeds to suicide prevention. I tried the SAVE ME FROM Age Acceleration hair mask and hated it due to the horrendous smell.

This hair mask also smells but is not as offensive as that one or the two others I already tried. However, I may be getting use to this awful smell as I try each one of her hair masks. This is a tiny (and I mean tiny) jar of white hair mask cream.

The aroma is undesireable. Despite this, I tried this as a pre-shampoo and worked a small amount throughout my entire head focusing mostly on my ends. I have short to medium fine curly hair, so I used about one thick quarter sized serving.

I left it on for 30 minutes before washing and coniditioning my hair. After I washed this out and conditioned my hair with my normal conditioner and left it to air dry as usual, my hair dried with a nourished look to it and my were curls soft and were not weighed down and it is for this reason only, I rate this 3.

5 stars. I personally would not purchase this because of the smell, not matter how good it is. Nevertheless, this version is even less smelly than the previous one I tried. Note that I cannot attest to its strengthening effect.

I personally do not have hair breakage. In summary, this brand donates to a good cause but this hair mask aroma stinks even if it does work somewhat. I can get the same results from other deep conditioners without the high cost, stink, and long wait.

However, if one is tied to this brand, this did work well to nourish my hair.

This hair mask is an overnight mask for really damaged hair. Like heat and chemicals. It’s meant to bond split ends and basically repair your hair from root to tip. It’s really rich and easy to use. It reduces and mends split ends.

It made my hair much stronger so it didn’t break off every time I brushed it. It totally brought my hair back to life! It was super shiny and soft. Plus it doesn’t weigh my hair down! It’s definitely worth the purchase!.

I’ve used a few of the Save Me From hair products and have seen noticeable changes in both the texture and overall quality of my hair. Though I’ve used and loved both Product Overload and Thermal Obsession, I use Chemical Conflict on my bleach blonde hair most often.

When I use it as an overnight mask my hair feels much more supple and full of body the next day (after washing). I ALWAYS use a bit as an after shower leave-in treatment and I definitely see less breakage and “fly-aways”.

Overall my hair has a smoother, glossier look, without being heavy and weighed down. I recently went in to have my hair lightened and soon after found I had been over-processed and the damage was right around my face! After the initial shock (and a few shed tears) I busted out the Chemical Conflict and left it on overnight.

After rinsing it out the next morning and repeating this process for a week — no shampoo, no heat — my hair was in amazing condition! Seriously. I’ve been overprocessed a time or two (shout out to you blondes out there who feel my pain) and I’ve never “bounced back” like I did while using the Chemical Conflict.

After the week I could hardly see any of the frizzy breakage that in the past has haunted me for weeks or even months. Finally, as if I wasn’t sold enough after that experience, the compliments on my glossy shine and the fresh smell topped it off! I’m not a perfume person.

I never add perfume and I use unscented lotions and deodorants whenever I can. The first time I was complimented on my smell I left the exchange confused. The second time I thought I was having déja vu.

The third time I did a little process of elimination and realized it was my Save Me From hair product!! I love the understated and uplifting smell of all three of the Save Me From products I’ve used! Five stars and three cheers for Chemical Conflict and the rest of the Save Me From lineup! Thanks for developing something to ‘Save Me From’ being an over-processed mess.

I am white, have medium length hair naturally on the thinner side. I get partial highlights once, maybeeee twice a year. Last time I got highlights put in, the hair stylist severely damaged my hair and left the blonde bits feeling like straw.

I was in need of an at-home fix after paying way too much at this salon to walk out the door with damaged hair. I searched and found this product. With washing and using this once or twice a week for about two months, the damaged bits returned to normal.

I continue using this product even though my hair isn’t damaged and I will say, it almost adds too much protein and leads to overdrying of my “normal” healthy hair so if your hair is normal, perhaps don’t use.

But I will keep this around for the next time my hair needs life support. Lastly, the smell is amazing and lasts longer than other nice-smelling products.

After using the AVEDA Botanical Repair Strengthening shampoo and conditioner I towel dried my hair and I combed my hair to remove any knots or tangles and then I went to use the leave-in treatment. It is a thick pale milky/creamy yellow colour with a consistency of a sorbolene moisturiser and smells the same as the shampoo and conditioner (It kind of smells piney like pine cones.

Really earthy and herby. The smell also kind of reminds me of a nappy rash cream that comes in a white tube that I used on my kids. Not pleasant). I applied a 20 cent piece sized amount (as there are no instructions on how much to use) to one of my hands and then once again rubbed both hands together then ran my hands through my mid-lengths and ends and left my hair to air dry naturally.

The leave in treatment didn’t make my hair feel any softer or anything like that. It basically feels like it does nothing. And it also makes my hair feel like it’s gritty or has had hair spray in it then brushed out.

Really dry. Also makes my pillow case smell like the product. As my hair started to dry naturally it became extremely frizzy and my hair didn’t feel as soft as it does with my regular hair care products that I always use.

It felt really dry, stripped and unmanageable. My hair literally feels like I’ve just been in the ocean. I’m not even sure what this product does. It has literally made my hair worse. I have since used this product more times with no improvements or changes.

My hair feels the same each time I use it. I have even increased the amount of product I use to see if that makes a change but it doesn’t. So far because of the smell of the product and the way it makes my hair feel I would not purchase this myself.

I do have course, thick, wavy, frizzy hair and I do straighten it but it does say on the back of the bottle that it is suitable for all hair types and textures. There is limited information on the bottle.

Most of it is in another language or it has a big list of ingredients. It does says it contains Aveda’s own pure-fume (meaning their own perfume) which contains certified organic ylang-ylang, rose, marjoram and other pure flower and plant essences.

I’ve also done separate reviews for the AVEDA Botanical Repair Strengthening shampoo and conditioner which are similar to this review. Same smell, feeling etc. No improvements to my hair. Makes my hair feel and smell awful.

The tube itself is minimum 62% post-consumer HDPE and up to 38% bioplastic (which is 98% plant derived and 4% petrochemical). Recycling is limited so contact your local recycling program. Leave-in treatment has to be used within 24 months from opening.

The leave-in treatment is made in the USA. I’m not sure who this would be ideal for as it says it’s for all hair types and textures but it left my hair feeling damaged and really dry and crispy. I really don’t understand how something at this price point could or would do this to my hair.

I bought a travel size of this product mostly as a heat protectant but it has turned out to be so much more. I was on holiday over the summer so didnt have my usual products with me just a little bottle of this.

So after washing my hair I applied it and blowdried. I noticed after a couple of days my hair looked healthier and after a couple of weeks it had grown more than usual – I also got a few compliments.

I now understand that I had been applying too much product before I found this. Using just a little bit of this is all I need for the week and because I no longer have product build up I don’t have to shampoo as often.

I bought the 25ml bottle in May and I am still using it. I have also tried this product for a wash and go and I had a similar effect, very soft and untangled hair.

I read the reviews before buying, so I knew beforehand the applicator was not exactly the best. For the life of me, I can’t understand why they would make it this way because I don’t think anyone is actually going to take the time to use that tiny brush to do all their hair in little sections at a time.

That being said, my usual Nexxus ProMend is no longer available, so I grabbed up several other split end treatments in an attempt to find a suitable replacement. This one was the best I’ve tried. It is quite thick but you don’t need a lot of it to do the job unless you have very long, thick hair.

I squeeze some into my hand apply it to my damp ends, using a fine tooth comb to smooth everything out. It works almost as well as my old Nexxus go-to. Now if they would just change the applicator and give us a a little more product for the money, this would be my new hair holy grail.

I did not look at the applicator prior to purchasing, and probably wouldnt have bought it if I had. It is pointless and looks like it will just waste the product $. I also rarely wash my hair so that must be carrying around tons of dirt.

After I took a pair of scissors to those bristles, I now love this product! You dont need a large amount to cover your ends. It instantly left my hair feeling much healthier. I bleach and style my hair frequently so there is a ton of damage.

I will probably try out other sealers before repurchasing, as this is the first one I’ve tried and I dont want to cut that brush off everytime.

I recently had a few highlights added to my hair and needed something different for the the dryness. I picked up this Redken extreme length sealer and it works awesome! It’s easy to apply and does not leave your hair feeling weighed down.

Definitely worth the purchase.
