20 Best Guitar Strings For Stratocaster (2023 Updated)

I’ve had the same experience with these strings as I did when I tried Rotosound, another very good brand that is better known for electric and electric-acoustic strings than classica nylon ones. Compared with D’Addario, Savarez etc.

they are rather dull, as if they have already played their useful life out. They also take longer than expected to stay in tune. Tried on two separate guitars, one of them a very nice Admira, with same result.

They were good value though and fine for home use. Just lack a little sparkle if you take your sound a little more seriously.

Never knew Fender would sell nylon strings, well, just like everything else Fender sells, these are great and sound very nice in my Australian classical acoustic. Will keep buying these, thank you.

Finding quality ball end classical guitar strings is not easy. This product is excellent giving a nice clear tone in the treble strings and a rich deep ring in the bass strings. Will definitely buy these again.

I learned about YJM’s guitar strings by watching a youtube video review by guitar expert Johnny Anderson. Theoretically I expected the thin strings to be easier to play. This turns out to be true. It feels like I am playing on the cotton threads instead of metal strings.

Because the strings are not pulled as hard as regular strings, they are really easy to play. I feel like I am just placing my fingers on the fingerboard as opposed to doing hard work pulling and pushing.

One thing that I didn’t expect was that bending is not only easier but it really affects how much of pitch change a slight push can create. This is consistent of how YJM himself plays effortlessly and his vibrato is very dramatic, exaggerated, and smooth.

Before making this my permanent guitar strings, I am planning to try other regular packages with thin strings. However, out of respect, I might as well stick with this because I like YJM and he impacted me very deeply when I was in high school in Japan in 80s.

I got the first set of these as a gift and put them on one of my guitars. When I played the guitar it seemed a lot easier to play, silky smooth, and sounded very good. I would not think that strings could make that big of a difference but they do.

I feel just like Yngwie ripping up the fret board. I just bought 10 more sets so I don’t have to wait for them anymore, the strings are popular and last time I ordered they took 4-6 weeks. I would highly recommend them if you want to play hard rock, metal or just melt some face any day of the week.

Malmsteen totally knows what he’s doing! these strings are for the player that shreds without tomorrow, but would also like to drop-tune from time to time!absolutely my no1 string! the super-friendly price of them allows for more often string changes too! I just wish more 8-46 gauge strings were out there! but as Yngwie is ONLY ONE, them strings are unique in every way!.

I’ve always tried to find better strings, for tone, feel, time of use before replacement, fret wear, and any reason that helps my playing. I’d tried Cobalts, different gauges on different guitars, was very impressed, but my inquisitive mind still wanted to try anything new, so I tried NYXL’s.

The NYXL’s are very good for unbreakable qualities, feel pretty good, but the tone seemed to lack a resonance in the mid’s that I had grown used to with other strings, especially the Cobalts. So I’m back to the Cobalts, on my Strat, my Micheal Kelly Hybrid II, and other guitars, to stay for a while.

For feel, intonation, but mostly for the resonance in the midrange. Excellent strings.

These strings frustrate me. Overall I do love the tone and the way they play. After reading some other reviews of these guys, it seems some don’t like the tone they have. I do play southernish style of folk rock/OLD country.

So for me, they sound fantastic. The problem I’ve had with them, and not sure if it’s a manufacturing problem or what, but these strings are fragile like glass. I will admit to playing kind of hard, think like a punk player but on acoustic.

But even taking it easy on these things, I’ve broken the D and G string in less than a week. Most recently on a live stream. It’s a shame because I do really like the way they sound and play. I’ve gone thru two sets already.

Normally I have issues with the higher string breaking on me but rarely ever the lower strings. Very surprised honestly. Normally Ernie Ball makes really good strings. I use Ernies on all of my electrics, so really confused as to what the deal is with these guys breaking so much with little punishment or time.

So, overall, like them, but don’t trust them. I won’t leave them on for my next live stream, I don’t want to take the risk of them breaking on me again. If they were made better, or whatever the problem is, I would buy them every time.

And I know it’s not my guitar, the last strings I bought were Martin and they lasted for almost 3 years. Maybe I just have bad luck with them.

I bought two sets of medium gauge aluminum to try and compare to my current preferred strings. I normally use Martin SP phosphor bronze 13s which have more phosphor content than any other 92/8 as apposed to the normal 80/20 phosphor content.

The Martin SP are wonderful strings and have a unique tone superior to other phosphor bronze. I’ve had these strings on for several months and the sound is still great. They have a clearer tone clarity over the phosphor bronze strings and seem to resist corrosion more than what I have been using though I haven’t played outside with them as I used to do a lot, but still they are sounding great.

The only drawback is a little less volume, not much less but a slight noticeable difference. I did play a lot on the street busking where acoustic volume is everything, but the clarity difference I feel is worth the slightly less volume.

They are still decently loud enough to be heard competing against background noise and other instruments. I have about 8 packs of the Martin strings I will still use but these will be my new favorites.

I strung my Martin D-15 and my HD-28V with these and did compare the sound difference as best I could. These are more expensive but I think for the time they last are comparable with coated strings as aluminum doesn’t corrode as fast as a bronze makeup.

I have also used D’Addario coated 13s and still these are better. My complaint on the Addario coated I bought a 2 pack and I think they were mistakenly wrong gauge in the package. Upon putting them on, I had to drastically adjust my neck truss rod to stop them from buzzing.

I notified MF about the mishap, they referred me to the Addario company which gladly replaced both sets, the set I used and I did have to send them the unused set. They were nice about it but it would have been an issue had I not had a few sets of my regular or I would have been in trouble.

Anyway, there you have it, my opinion. Hope it helps. By the way, these have same tension strength.

Long lasting, great sound. I went to my girlfriends sisters home for Xmas and a few guys got a some guitars out and we played some rock, country and bluegrass on Elixers strung on acoustic instruments.

They claimed the strings were three years old. They sounded quite good for their age. After seeing a John Paul Jones interview where he said Elixers were all he used. I already used them but his opinion completely sold me.

I even bought an Elixer tee shirt. I use them on all my guitars and mandolins. I won’t settle for anything else. I just bought a FX5 that had Addario’s on it. No pause, I replaced them with Elixers. Great sound.

Long lasting. Stay good looking too. Buy multiple set bundles and save money.

Ive been using these strings ever since they came out. Let me point out a few observations. First i dont have roadies changing my strings everyday. nor an endorsement. These strings can take sweat. sticky fingers.

etc. Last for months. If you’re constantly tweeking your eq knobs it maybe because of your regular strings are changing tone so rapidly. Exilirs dont. Less zipper sound but you can still pick scrape.

There is no cons period.

YES GIBSON AND OTHER MAKE SIMULER STRING. BUT FENDER HAS IT ALL OVER THEM IN PRICE AND PLACE TO GET THEM. BUT THIS IS MY OPINEN. FROM AGE 11 TO NOW 64. I PLAY GUITAR BANJO VIOLIN FLUTINA. WITH REAL FENDER MEN WOMEN CHILDREN.

3 packs of quality fender strings great price. Same feel and sound as more expensive strings out there(earnie ball). No issues with dropping out of tune or snapping. Only slight issue if being fussy is the rather odd colouring system on the ends.

If your a newbie at changing strings could be an issue with mixing up the e/b/g string. with silly fender colour names but just be careful when sorting through!.

My main regret is that two of them snapped while I was stringing up. Because I start from the middle and work out, I had the D and G strings on, and they are lovely to play. They feel smooth and sound good.

It’s a rounded, full sound, nothing twangy or shrill. But I do need all six. I can’t remember the last time I broke a B string, and they really shouldn’t go when you’re just putting them on.

I bought these for my Fender American Elite Shawbucker Strat. I was using Ernie Ball cobalt like my other guitars, but sound was different on my strat than I liked. I put these on and I get that pure Fender tone back.

They last a good amount of time for the price. I always recommend these to friends for their strats. The sound is very consistent.

A tech from Fender in Denmark came around and I was recommended to come by with my partscaster with an EC signature neck. The price was for a new set of strings only and he recommended the super Bullets as they are made to fit vintage style tremolo bridge and keep better tunning.

They hold up and sound good while tremolo use does keep tunning better. However to keep this a honest review I did experience normal 10-46 installed a few years back when I had some service done. Instead of the new supplied super Bullets used it was regular strings.

It made the setup the very same and tremolo tunning the same up or down, crazy or soft. Now the body and bridge is old Schecter dating back to 1977. The tremolo block is brass. Now back then they made high quality Fender parts and thereby may be the difference that on my partscaster Blackie it does not matter what brand of strings I use.

On a regular Fender stratocaster with vintage tremolo they will probably matter a bit more for what super Bullets are designed for. Still I have only use super Bullets since that tech day which was I think more than 20 years ago.

The strings are very durable and strong. I’ve been lucky to say that I haven’t broke a string yet. The feel is quite nice and the strings are clear and a good tone response when I am soloing. I was never a believer in playing light gauges (.

09) before but when I played it on my friends tele thinline. I was amazed how easy it was to play and it doesn’t feel like 0. 9’s, they feel in between a 10-9, so they are perfect for Fender Telecaster Thinline.

I put these strings on the fairly new PD-220E. I usually use Elixir. This is the best acoustic guitar Fender has made. The strings sound really good on it. I will try these on one of my other guitars.

They are cheaper than Elixir and sound just as good. I don’t know about the longevity as this is my first set.

Yes, the wound strings are brighter but these are not for “heavy metal”. It’s been well-known among players since the 70’s that Fender’s stainless steel strings are the best for getting that elusive “twang-gitty-dong-gitty-dong” character on your low strings.

Perfect for Telecasters, Rickenbackers, Danelectros, 12-string electrics, Country, 60’s Brit rock, finger pickin’ and honkin’ and talkin’! The plain strings are the same as the other Fender sets, that nice rounded tone and great elastic feel for bending.

But beware of the new black packaged Fender strings, they’re not the real Fender-made strings, they’re outsourced now. I’ve been using Fender strings for decades and I could tell right away. I hope they didn’t change the mfg with these too.

The “bullet” series hasn’t changed, I don’t think.

Have changed to the classic core after years of using their xxl strings. Strings seem to be easier to bend, plus keep their tone longer.

Not getting into any string snobbery but these Fender pure nickel strings are excellent, bright but smooth with just the right amount of lower string twang.

Good strings, I’m not very experienced but they sound way better than the old strings that were on my guitar previously. I like the tone

The best strings I’ve ever purchased!! They sound great and the lows are full! Just the way I love it. The last time I changed my strings was almost a year ago and that was when I was introduced to Elixir Polywebs.

I have bought Elixir strings many times before, but usually in a lighter gauge. Lighter ones were not available this time, so I gave the 12-53’s a try. They were easier to put on and sound great- maybe louder than the others (10-47’s) I used before.

Not as flexible for bending notes, but they feel really solid, and the extra volume is good since I mostly don’t use a pick, and don’t strum very agressively. I will buy these again, and highly recommend them.

I’ve been playing multiple stringed instruments for over 40 years and have tried nearly every brand of strings made but I always came back to Ernie Ball. For probably the last 15 years i’ve used Ernie Ball exclusively.

Unless someone starts giving me free guitar strings(6 & 12), mandolin, bass & uke strings, i’ll stay exclsively Ernie Ball For all my instrument strings. Even if given some other brand i’d go with EB when I had to spend my money.

The string brand I trust thru years of experience. Great life, great feel, great dependability and most importantly, great sound. It’s nothing but Ernie Ball strings for me.

The wound G requires resetting of intonation, and perhaps also neck relief. Definitely a different sound, what might be called “stronger” when playing rhythm. Wound G not as easy to bend, but general playability same as with plain G.

Early electric guitars were designed with wound G strings in mind, so really you should be using them if you still have the original pickups or exact replacements.

When I started playing guitar a couple decades ago (yeesh! Has it really been that long?) I tried out a ton of different brands at different price points and the EB strings were always the most consistent for the price.

Also they take a beating and hold your tuning very well. I have played a variety of styles (Grunge, Nu-Metal, Post-Metal, Death/Thrash, Black Metal) several different tunings. Dropped G open tuning, B standard, dropped C and D standard.

The EB strings always feel solid and powerful never sloppy or rubber band like. They also seem to stay lively longer and have plenty of bite even after a week of shows on tour. Can’t go wrong with these strings.

Researching the Hendrix tone and I found out about his preference in string gauges. Besides the Marshall amp, fuzz and all the pedals Jimi had a unique playing style. His thumb over method of chord voicings and flourishes bridged the gap between rhythm and lead work.

I tried these heavy top light bottom strings out on a couple of my Strats and so far I really like them. I also play some John Frusciante and John Mayer stuff and they work equally well for those songs.

I’ve always been a loyal fan of Elixirs for their longevity but these are on a whole other level!! I’ve never felt my Strat give such an incredible and it feels like these strings were specifically made for my guitar.

These strings are awesome, not because of Jimi or the Voodoo thing but because for many years Fender stopped making this gauge. They were called 150 silver bullets back then and were my string of choice that became unavailable.

Old sets were usually lightly corroded and unusable. Fender fixed that by finally corrosion proofing the packaging. Originally I bought these to use on my Fender Telecaster but these are now on my Les Paul, Stratocaster and my Epi.

the price point made me try them, the feel and sound will keep me using them.
