Best Glue For Book Binding (2024 Updated)

I don’t know if this “officially named” ‘PVA’ glue is any different in quality or ingredients than regular white glue. I bought it because it (PVA) was recommended by book binders. I am using it for collage.

I squeeze some into a small container and use a brush to apply. It is the exact consistency I need for this use. I don’t have to thin down another glue, so I am eliminating a messy step for each project.

A thin coat dries too fast, so a medium coat is what I use. It does cause warping so that is an issue. (My son used regular rubber cement with great results and not warping. I just am unsure of the longevity of the bond).

I like “Tacky” glue for most other white glue uses. I will continue to buy this until something cheaper but equally as efficient comes along. I already had a discount code and free shipping for this order of multiple supplies, so I bought some to stock up on.

I used it to glue art canvas to Baltic Birch Panel which worked well for this acrylic art piece. Looking forward to repairing bindings on a couple books as well as gluing more art canvas to Baltic Birch Panels.

The binding in my Bible unattached from the cover and ripped from some pages. This glue was perfect for the repair. It’s a strong adhesive, no odor, no staining of the pages. I glued it back together and let it lay overnight.

I am a hobby bookbinder in San DIego and am using Lineco Adhesive since 2008. Great stuff, goes on smooth on bookbinding board, or leather, or buckram, Good product and very good service with Blick. Had an issue with delivery and it was handled in 1 phone call.

No assembly required. Only caveat is that you must have a very high ceiling in your studio if you want to raise the canvas crosspiece (where the canvas sits) up to make a small painting. I ended up cutting off the “mast” about 16″ (simple hacksaw and mitre box operation) so I could use it in my low-ceilinged studio.

This glue stick is a must have in all my makeup bags. I use disposable spoolies (which I often wash and reuse) to apply it to my eyebrows. I swipe up and give my brows a bushy, lamented look. The purple dries down clear.

It doesn’t budge once it’s dried. I would caution against using powders around wet brows because the powder clings to the glue undesirably. This is also a go to product for flattening the brows into the skin for radical body paint looks.

I have purchased this a few times when I get the deal notification from Money Saving Mom or other similar bloggers. It seems to be a good deal for a good amount of Elmer’s glue sticks which are superb.

We use them for paper and to hold fabric together while sewing. They do their job. I know people who struggle with glue sticks sticking, but I tend to be overzealous and coat every inch. There is less mess compared to regular glue and it dries without​ leaving bumps in the paper.

These are great for scrapbooking and card making as well.

Only used this for standard card stock but easy to use, dries well with no ripples. Effective lid system allowing you to open and close easily, so no drying out or bunging up of the nozzle. Good value all round.

I needed a special glue to mount old photos. Having checked the website, it was an item that was stocked. My only choice was bookbinding glue so I took the chance. When I got home I realised my error and ordered it online.

Excellent glue. I use it to stick my hair piece. I can even go swimming and the glue holds firm. My new girlfriend does not even know i wear a hair piece. Wonderful stuff.

I have a large ceramic pot that was hit by another ceramic and was left with two large whole holes. I went on the Internet and learned that one of the best glues to use on ceramics is polyvinyl acetate (PVA).

The fellow at Blick’s whom I asked didn’t think so, but I bought the product anyway. It’s consistency is very much like the ubiquitous Elmer’s Glue you could buy at all the drug stores (at least when I was growing up as a kid!).

I got the 8 ounce size, which turns out to have much more glue than I’ll ever need — I should have ordered the 4 ounce size. It seems to be working fine.

Perfect, and yet it has been around for a long time. It is very reasonable compared to other glues used in journal making or for gluing paper.

They work longer than most others but I just wish they were larger so theyd last even longer. Otherwise I use them constantly & like them very much.

A similar PVA product is used to attach new foam surrounds to speaker cones during repairs. For some reason that product has quadrupled in price – $39 for 8 ozs. Maybe because the foam surrounds are now being sourced from China and are very low cost they are selling the glue for more? So I tried this product and it seems to work just as well.

Maybe slight thinner but all my repairs are solid. I will be buying this produce from now on when I repair speaker drivers. This would be good info for others that repair speaker drivers with PVA products.

This seems to work well. My only negative is that unlike most glues it is every runny and a warning would have been appreciated. Once I got the hang of that, it was easier to use. The outcome seems to be good.

Will need to give it more time to see about the longevity of the fix.

Used the glue for repairing the spine binding on an old, treasured book. Worked great! Excellent adhesion, and remains flexible when opening and closing the book. Excellent product at a fair price!

Everyone needs a little glue in their life. Sometimes the “glue” is relationships that bind us together in a crisis or the glue that holds together “the fabric of our lives. ” Sometimes it is the secretary in an office who is the “glue” to hold the office together and keep everything and everyone working effectively.

Sometimes it is literally glue–the white runny stuff that is the mainstay of youthful craft projects. Who hasn’t smiled to see a “masterpiece” created from glue and glitter? How would we learn to construct paper mâché art or string balls without white glue? The thrill of scientific exploration may have been triggered for a child who created and played with GAK or Flubber or Slime made from white glue.

Of course, on the practical side, a little dab of white glue has salvaged many broken treasures and family heirlooms. Indeed, a little white glue in a home or office could be the creativity and repair version of “take two aspirin and call me in the morning.

Well, I just took it out of the bag and it looks great but I have not had a chance to try it out yet. I got it because the old one was dried up. Contact me in a few months and maybe I’ll have opened it and can give more feedback.

Last year for our class project we used another glue to piece our project together. Within days the projects began falling apart. This year we used the Scotch’s Mega Glue Stick. Big difference! No tears over lost of missing project pieces.

Glad we made the change. Happy teacher. Happy students.

This is a brand name product so I expected great performance. What a flop. Won’t even seal my envelopes. Don’t waste your money.

Repeat customer, here. I only use these for paper projects and they work great for me. Little fingers clean up easily, when too much glue gets smeared around, part of the charm with glue sticks. Drippy messes are not a thing, with these.

Children’s messes are minimal!.

These Jumbo Glue Sticks will last a lot longer than the regular size glue stick. They have adequate stickiness and definitely are good at gluing things like paper etc. for school and church items. The fact that they are bigger means they will last longer and stay effective longer.

Bulk pack. Good size tube. Dries clear enough. A fee seconds of wiggle room before it adheres dry. I used this for paper, and am going to try to temporarily adhere fabric.

My go to book binding glue for spines it’s thick, strong and very flexible. Container to small for use on larger areas which is a shame as it’s a good glue.

I’ve used this ‘special’ silicone glue for many years. No smell like most silicone glues have very good at holding most things. Originally purchased it for card making way back, but have come to depend on it for nearly everything that needs pad of glue.

Wonderful stuff. TIP :- If you squeeze the tube and let silicon just overflow top of tube slightly after use then put top on without reducing pressure, it will stay fresh in tube, until you need it.

I have used this glue many times and it is the best one I can find for cartonnage. It sticks very well and quickly, and dries clear.

I have made my own booklets and this glue has performed brilliantly. Only downside is it is a thick glue and dries too quickly, so had to be fully prepared to glue. I will still highly commend it
