20 Best Gaba Supplement For Sleep (2023 Updated)

I am a doctor by profession and a lover of sports and a healthy lifestyle, I want to share my experience with NOW GABA 500 mg 200 veg capsules. The capsules are soft, but the shell may stick to the palate if you try to drink them without water.

There was no belching or heartburn from them, there was no foreign aroma or taste. After taking it, performance improved. I just had a problem in the sense that for a whole week I had to do insanely boring monotonous work.

However, what can you do about it. And now I don’t know if gaba worked or something else, but I easily endured it and did everything without much difficulty. I have distracted attention, poor perseverance, however, on some days I even felt a surge of strength.

Recently purchased this as I’ve read GABA can help the body by regulating serotonin levels naturally. It’s supposed to also help in overall calming/stress relief. It doesn’t seem to cause drowsiness but I’ve heard it does in some people.

This is simply GABA alone without any additives (at 750mg per capsule). After being diagnosed with bipolar disorder PTSD I’ve tried herbal supplements and this is personally the best to help lower anxiety! It takes 5-7 days before it seems to help (and may not for everyone) but this in the day with ashwaganda, melatonin, lavender, lemonbalm supplement (in another singular capsule) at bedtime an I’ve had great luck at controlling a lot of my disorders without Dr medication (which nothing is wrong with bc if I need to I’ll absolutely seek the help).

I’ve made it throughout the day without so much anxiety also sleeping better at night (which could be the night supplement at work). There’s a lot of mixed opinions on taking this supplement GABA with a lot of different uses but I believe it affects each of us differently maybe working for some yet not other’s.

So on that note I can only recommend this on the bases it may or may not work for you (but doesn’t hurt to try). 🤔.

I got the 500mg Swanson Gaba. It helps me to get to sleep, but wakes me up 3 to 4 hours later with fast beating heart. At first, I thought it was just something going on with my heart or something I ate, but now I know it is definitely the Gaba, because I stopped taking it for a while & just tried it again last night.

I had to lie awake for about an hour until my heart calmed down. I am not taking Gaba again.

I love Gamma AminoButyric Acid – – – GABA. I go hard all day, beginning about 5 a. m. , and I need a really good, quality night’s sleep for my body and brain to fully and effectively regenerate. Sure, I’m tired when I hit the sack at night, usually anywhere from 10 to midnight, and I have stress under control, so it isn’t that I cannot sleep.

However, GABA is therapeutic for me, allowing me to fall asleep right away, and wake up raring to go, fully alert and feeling great all on my own around 5 a. m. My alarm on my cell phone is set to go off a 6:30, and I get a chuckle out of that while I’m busy doing something productive at that time.

It is a fail safe for me, but never needed. GABA not only relaxes, but I have read that it helps build muscle tissue while I’m sleeping. Who wouldn’t want and appreciate that? Personally, I take 4 of these 500 mg.

I bought this to help me sleep at night. It calms my overactive brain relieves anxiety and stress and induces feelings of calm and tranquillity. Gaba doesn’t work for everyone like this if you are low in energy, mood and concentration (common issues in clinical depression) you should not be trying to boost GABA, but instead, your serotonin, dopamine and nor-adrenaline.

That is helpful if the levels are too high (as is likely with anxiety), but not if you are depressed! If you have done your research and want to try Gaba then this is a good quality and I highly recommend this product.

I’ve always had some trouble falling asleep at night. I never felt like I was an insomniac, but I wished I could get to bed a bit faster and sleep sounder. The first night I took Alpha GABA PM, I didn’t feel a lot but I decided to stick with it because my doctor warned me it could take some time.

Bought this because they discontinued selling Kavinace Ultra PM without a prescription. Give the Aphla GABA PM time to kick in. It took about a week and a half for it to really kick in and now I am back on track to sleeping good.

It works about 90-95% of the time, same as the Ultra PM. As with any medication or herbal remedy, it doesn’t have the same effect with everyone. Again, this is my experience and I have read the same type of review.

We have been using GABA Trex by NeuroScience since spring of 2011 after having our then-3-year-old daughter tested by a nutritionist and finding her neurotransmitter levels were high and vitamin and mineral levels were low.

We began a regimen of vitamins minerals and Endo Trex to help re-balance her system. In conjunction with these supplements we changed her diet to eliminate all gluten casein soy peanuts and other foods that tests showed she was allergic to and started a structured daily routine which included a Montessori program at the local school.

In the past couple months weve tried 2 other products which the first didnt help at all and the second is about twice the cost of Endo Trex! In desperation I ordered a bottle of Root Beer Endo Trex to try again.

She despised and totally refused it back when she was 3 but I just wondered if we called it “Soda” instead of Root Bear perhaps she could take it for us. It WORKED and she is back on GABA Trex!!! My daughter was recently tested by her doctor. Her levels were extremely high. Her recommend dosage of GABE Trex by NeuroScience was 2 tablets twice a day. I can definitely tell a difference in her. She seems to be less anxious.

I use these due to heterozygous MTHFR gene variant. News ***. any vitamin worth taking, smells to high heaven! I’ve found the better they work, the worse they smell. That does not mean they are bad, or moldy, or any of the other ridiculous claims made by some who are leaving reviews here.

Storing in the fridge is recommended. But odor, by itself, is not indicative of a bad product the reviews suggesting that, are not only misguided, but steeped with ignorance. Within 30 min of taking these vitamins, I get a burst of energy which lasts all day long.

I’ve never had that from a vitamin before these. Due to being vegetarian for over 30 years, I feel like I’ve tried every vitamin under the sun with minimal benefits. That was, until my new functional medicine DR recommended these last month.

I now have more energy during the day am sleeping better at night. Mowing my huge yard used to make me feel like I was literally dying. It would take me 4-6 hours with my push mower. If you don’t notice a difference you don’t need to order again. Buy if you have certain genetic issues where methylation in vitamins is important, you should at least try it once before deciding.

The most potent Hawthorn extract available, that b I have found. It’s extract is standardized to 2% Vitexin, which is the highest in the industry. Most are only 1. 8% at best. Also, don’t let some fool you by saying they have 18% Oligomeric Procyanidines (OPCs) and make it seem like it’s better than an extract standardized to 1.

8 or 2% Vitexins. Each Constituent has it’s own benefits. Also, a Hawthorn Extract that’s standardized to Vitexins, will also naturally have OPCs. If you want an amazing all-in-one extract that covers your whole Heart health, then get “Cardio Peak” by Life Extension, that’s sold on here.

However, if you want an outstanding top shelf Hawthorn extract, then this one by Pure Encapsulations, is simply the best I have seen for a standalone. I have noticed an increase in cardiovascular capabilities and getting less out of breath going up and down stairs, than I usually do.

It has also lowered my blood pressure some and made it stay more stable. I also really love how it protects my coronary arteries from plaque build-up and also protects the heart from periods of oxygen deprivation.

I’m sorry to write this report but I had switched from a different brand to this vitamin. It caused me dizziness, sweat, anxiety-like symptoms after an hour of taking it with meals. It didn’t happen everyday so I didn’t realize it was from the vitamin for a few months, but when some of my friends took it, they also reported it made them dizzy and sick.

I stopped taking it and I have not had these symptoms since. I called Pure Encapsulations, they took a lot number but recommended me to check with physician(I took all kinds of blood test while I was taking this vitamin but I was fine).

I’m writing this review because this experience taught me to be careful with selecting a brand that is a good fit. It affected the quality of life for 4 months.

Update July 2020: I continue to use this product with success One of the few sleep products that works for a wide variety of constitutional body types but especially good for those prone to evening anxiety.

Western lifestyle seems to be broadly affect GABA when there is stress. I generally take 2-3 tablets but some people may need more on certain nights. This is well within known safe dose levels. You should verify you dose with your health care provider to find “lowest effective dose.

” Also, it seems to be more effective if not taken every night so I suggest that you not use GABA on nights were you already feel naturally tired, calm or drowsey. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This product effectively helps me fall asleep and sleep well with a bonus: The return of early morning dreaming which I enjoy and have missed in times of poor sleep.

I am a 150 pound adult and I tolerate higher doses of many supplements. Through experimentation, I have determined that 2-3 capsules about 30-minutes before sleep is optimal in times of high stress during the day.

This is les than a 1 gram dose. (Doses of up to 3 grams daily are generally considered safe but you should confirm your own dose with your health care professional. ) One minor drawback is that I am more drowsy when I first wake up but the trade off of good sleep is worth it for me.

On less stress-filled days, I may take only 2 capsules per night. I try to take as many breaks from it as I can — I do not take when I feel naturally drowsy already. I have compared the 1 gram dose of this brand of GABA to both a 1 gram and a 1.

5 gram dose of the N_w 500 mg caps. That brand just does not have the same effect at either dose level. Neither dose the So_gar brand. though it performed slightly better. and is the next best whne this Kirkman is out of stock.

Apparently best GABA is naturally derived from the fermentation process that utilizes Lactobacillus hilgardii. Only Th_rne brand openly says that they use this process. I plan to ask this about Kirkman Labs in the new “Questions” feature.

I have not yet tried the Th_rne brand of GABA 250 which does use Lactobacillus hilgardii fermentation to produce the “natural GABA” that has the research to support its benefits. Unfortunately, unless the Th_rne brand allows me to consistently cut my dose by half or more, it is not affordable for my nightly use.

I only wish I’d gotten it a lot sooner. I use calm sometimes and it works good but not nearly as good as this. I have extreme aniexty. EXTREME Aniexty. I get tension headaches due to being so “stressed” feeling.

Even if nothing is going on. I’ll even start babbling. This stuff puts it all to an end. I took one and it def helped but I waited for 4 hours and took another one. ONE is the recommened dosage. And wham everything is so peaceful.

Quite and I can breath. I’m not worried nothing. Perfectly happy and content. I will be keeping this with me at all times. It takes 30 minutes or so to work not weeks of taking it. Very happy with it.

Didn’t really like this. I tried a few times and I think it was just way too strong for me. Within thirty minutes after taking it, I felt like I couldn’t breathe and tingling in my body. Maybe it was a big dose for me but after that terrible feeling subsided, I maybe felt a bit calmer.

I have been taking the GABA Calming Support supplement for a couple of weeks, and I had to stop taking it yesterday. While it does help my sleep somewhat, it does not give me the 7-8 hours that I need.

But the main problem is that it seems to be slowing down my brain to the extent that I actually feel depressed from it. My mental faculties slowed down during the daytime. This was happening despite the fact that I was only taking 1 capsule every evening.

Since it did calm me at night and help my sleep minimally, I might try to take it every other evening and see if the depression and slowed-down mental faculty continue during the day. Otherwise, I will have to stop it permanently.

Since I started GABA almost two months I have been feeling much calmer. I still get anxious but it is a different relationship that I now have with my anxious thoughts and since taking GABA it has extremely been helpful to keep me calm.

More importantly although feeling anxious it does not result into a panic attack. I tried SSRIs in the past and I did not like the physical symptoms that I experienced. I feel so much healthier now being off the RXs meds and taking GABA I take 1 capsule in the AM and a1 capsule in the evening 1 to 2 hrs before I go to bed.

These large tablets are somewhat difficult to swallow, and take longer to begin working, than the capsules I’m accustomed to. They were ordered online to arrive at my home, and I wish I had not opened them.

I much prefer the capsules which go to work faster, and help with onset of sleep sooner. I will not buy these tablets again.

I heard that taking Gaba was a good way to relax and get better sleep. This is a big deal to me, as I have had sleep issues for decades and prefer not to take sleeping pills, if I can help it. The first night I tried this, I felt wired and it took me forever to fall asleep.

I wanted to make sure it wasn’t the pills, so I waited a few nights and tried it again. The same thing: my mind was racing and I couldn’t fall asleep. I gave it one more shot, but still the same reaction.

So, I decided I would try the reverse and take it during the day, hoping it would give me some extra energy in the morning and throughout the day. Instead, what I noticed (since this time I wasn’t lying in bed and trying to sleep) is it made me feel a little sick and strange in the head — like somebody had slipped me something.

The feeling was a little scary. Again, I waited a few days and tried it again to make sure it was the Gaba. I tried this several times and each time I got the same reaction, so I KNOW it was the Gaba.

I would not recommend this.

I have a heart condition that requires me to take a beta-blocker. Not good. The beta-blocker slowed my metabolism so much that I was non-functional! I started taking GABA 10 years ago, which not only replaced the beta-blockers, but it also relieved mental stress.

How good is that! I have a very stressful job, let alone family. I really believe that without taking GABA daily, I would not be able to work and maintain an independent lifestyle. Did I mention, I have 10 grandchildren and raising a teen grandson?.

My acupuncturist told me about this when I was pregnant with my first child. I take 1-2 capsules every night with a big glass of water. I was suffering from the less than pleasant side effects of pregnancy, muscle cramping, constipation, insomnia, etc.

This helped me get a much better nights sleep, I never ended up having full charlie horse cramping (I am prone to full lower leg spasms) and kept me regular through my pregnancies and beyond. I swear by this brand too as I have tried others that just didn’t work as well.

I have tried several sleep aid supplements and this is my favorite by far. Straight melatonin does not work for me and this supplement has a blend of other sleep contributors which makes this very effective.

I usually only need 2 (directions state 3). The instructions also say to take 30 minutes before bed, but both my mother & I found the supplement to start working sooner. Both of us found our muscles relaxing and our minds stopped working to be able to fall asleep quickly and peacefully.

I found I also achieved a deeper level of sleep. I would highly recommend this product! PS. With the trace amounts of monk fruit as a sweetener, there is a mild aftertaste (like stevia) but it clears away quickly.

I tried these for about a week. I couldn’t tell if taking two or three made a difference, I couldn’t tell if they helped me sleep or not. I slept pretty much as I usually do. But I did develop a very unattractive facial rash and literally the only change in my life and habits was taking these gummies.

When I saw my doctor for the rash, and I told her that, she suggested I stop taking the gummies, and she also gave me a cream for the rash, and a few days later it was gone. So I don’t have empirical proof that the gummies caused the rash, but I’m not going to take them anymore just in case.

I would give this product 10 stars if I could! After just one day of taking these gummies I woke up the next day with no pain, refreshed, and energetic. I skipped my coffee because the gummies recharged me overnight and had my day going.

I didn’t wake up with no aches and I tend to roll around in bed and hit the snooze button. These gummies got me out of bed and made me productive all day! I can’t wait till they come back! I love these gummies so much that I don’t want to share this news or gummies with anyone.
