Fungus is a type of plant that can be found in soil, on plants, or on decaying matter. Fungi can be beneficial to lawns, but they can also cause problems. Fungus control for lawns is the process of keeping fungi populations in check so that they do not become a nuisance.
This can be done through a variety of methods, including cultural practices, chemical controls, and biological controls.

Reviews From Real Customers
As as single working mother, I am solely responsible for taking care of my house, car, and lawn and I really LOVE getting my hands in dirty and helping a plant grow. I live in Texas and on any given weekend, you will find me and my family outdoors washing and waxing the car or mowing and weeding the front lawn.
A great looking house and yard is important to me. Lately, with summer fast approaching, I’ve noticed that my lawn is turning brown/yellow and dying in patches. After talking with my friends and conducting a little online research, I visited my local home goods store and picked up a 32oz ready to spray bottle of BioAdvanced Fungus Control For Lawns to help protect my grass and get it healthy again.
I chose the ready to spray Bioadvanced formula because it was easy to use and after one application, it immediately entered my grass’s roots and blades to eliminate any fungus that was present and to create a barrier protection against any new fungus.
Happily, after 9 days, I’ve have seen some improvement. A few brown/yellow spots that were in my front yard, along my sidewalk, are shrinking, have begun to grow new grass and grass blades are getting green and healthy looking again.
I just moved into a new house and the yard was in pitiful shape. I worked so hard, but I kept getting these weird discolored patches of grass. I did a little research on it and found out that my yard was likely a victim of fungus growth.
I always just thought of fungus as mushrooms, and it never would have occurred to me that this was my problem. I applied this Fungus Control spray to my entire lawn and waited. Over the course of a week I noticed a bit of a difference.
I re-applied the product two weeks later. Within a month of the first application, my grass was green and beautiful! I’m so glad that I used this product before reaching out to a professional! It was super easy to use, too.
I just hooked it up to the hose and ran around the yard covering as much area as possible. I did end up needing two bottles, so make sure you check for the coverage area listed on the bottle. I started off by spraying the brown areas to make sure they got the most coverage.
I’ll definitely keep using this. It’s totally saved my lawn from this hot, humid weather.
A must have I would say. a relief for my grass. I do not know if it was due to a lot of moisture but my grass had some brown patches in certain areas and now I must saw it is looking healthier. We reside in GA so winter really do not last too long but summer well it gets real hot.
So with that we really have to tend to our grass. I like how this product work and cures and prevent brown patches from appearing. Easy to use and easy to attach to the hose. But just a few pointer. where gloves and eye protector.
This is a chemical so make sure you protect yourself. Also the nozzle where the hose attaches to there is a black rubber seal on the interior that needs to be their. so make sure when purchasing you check for that.
I would recommend this product if anyone needs to treat their grass for brown patches, dollar spots, rust and anything that seems to be a type of fungus. This is a great Fungus Control for your lawn.
Scotts Lawn Fungicide – Scotts lawn fungicide featuring systemic action formula. Use any time on any lawn to prevent or control listed lawn diseases. Controls brown patch, dollar spot, and other common lawn diseases.
Suppresses fusarium blight, necrotic ring spot, and summer patch. Does not contain fertilizer. Apply from April to September.
I spent approximately $90 on several bags to kill yellow patch in my yard. Now four days later, I see no difference. I believe this product works for many, but the instructions are not detailed enough on the bag and it seems more exact weather conditions are needed for success.
It simply says to water if rain is not expected within 24 hours. As a first timer using those product, I treated when storms were expected the next day. However, we had heavy, heavy downpour rain. Yesterday, when I did not see any difference, I checked forums and realized that too much rain can wash the product away.
Apparently this is what happened. I have a pretty large yard and wasted a ton of money. I can understand this being a flop if I just put it down inwhatever way. But I took time to read the label and do exactly as stated.
I encourage anyone who is experimenting for the first time with this product or any other, to try one bag and see what happens. I personally will never buy this product again.
Last summer 2020 – I laid about 1,500 sq ft of new Sod in early June and it looked awesome – new sod requires a lot of watering, but about 4 weeks in, mushrooms started growing, more and more – I didn’t realize the new lawn was becoming infected with disease, soon the lawn was starting to yellow and I became nervous and disappointed – I spoke to a lawn professional and he said that my new lawn was infected with a disease and he suggested that I purchase Scott’s Disease Ex – so I did, cheap enough $25 and I applied it as instructed with curative application.
I swear in 36 or so hours, it appeared to begin to look less yellow and there were less mushrooms growing, after a week, mushrooms were gone and the beautiful, dark, vibrant lush green color was coming back to my beautiful sod, I was so happy – and it continued to improve from that 1st application and I never looked back.
I swear by this product, because it works !! Very important to remember to water your lawn after application. I understand that the directions do not state that and some people have written poor reviews because of that, but c’mon man !! After you apply anything to your lawn that is pelletized, you should always water it in, and that’s common sense – preferably right before it rains is best – nothing beats natural rain water.
Now this Spring my lawn looks beautiful, but because of the issues I had last year, I bought another bag of Disease Ex and applied only preventative setting. Here’s to another summer of a dark green, lush, carpet like lawn.
I bought it to defend my lawn and backyard grass from annoyingly growing mushroom. After reading all reviews I was happy to receive it and immediately applied it. What was surprising to me that in 2 weeks after application my lawn turned into a completely green lawn (prior to application some large area on the lawn and backyard were already yellow burnt under the sun).
This was great surprise because I only bought it to stop growing mushrooms. I don’t see these small brown mushrooms growing but after 2 weeks of application I still observed white mushrooms grew back up on the same spot which I had to remove it again by hands (even though I did apply more then enough of the product to that spot).
So far NO other mushrooms neither brown nor white mushrooms grew back up and it’s been a month since last application but my grass is still crispy green. I’m average consumer and Scotts did NOT pay me for this review.
So you can trust me it does work. The only reason I gave it 4 stars review was because I did observe big white mushrooms grew back up 2 weeks after application but since then I don’t see any kind of mushrooms growing back on both sides of the lawn area.
Southern AG Liquid Copper Fungicide controls many bacterial and fungal leaf spots, rust, blights. Also controls algae in Turfgrass and moss in live oaks. For use on fruits, vegetables, turfgrasses (algae control), live oak (moss control) and ornamentals.
I tried non copper based fungicide on a small Japanese red maple with almost no results. I have used other fungicides in the past and gotten reasonably good results, but only after a long while and multiple treatments.
THIS product worked miraculously well! My tree was still totally brown a month after two treatments with a popular and expensive, very common brand and after treating it just once with this product the entire tree turned bright red again and fungus free in just 2 weeks.
Im sold. I wont use anything else from now on. and the price was DEFINITELY right.
Fungal infections in cacti are notoriously hard to treat, and when a blackrot plague hit mine, I felt pretty hopeless about treating it. My research showed my best bet would be a liquid copper fungicide, though a cure was far from guaranteed.
About a month of daily dousing with this product and my cacti were slowly showing some improvement. No miracle cure, but I think this product may have cut my losses in half.
Liquid Copper Fungicide helps control powdery mildew downy mildew black spot peach leaf curl rust and many other listed diseases. Perfect for use on vegetables roses fruits nuts herbs ornamentals and turf.
Incredibly easy to apply and can be used up to the day of harvest.
Bonide Copper Fungicide has been great at keeping blight and other diseases off my indoor tomato, cucumber, and radish veggies. I haven’t had a chance to determine if my outdoor fruit trees are better off having been sprayed with Copper Fungicide (it’s late Fall, early Winter here), but I’m sure it won’t hurt.
This is a concentrated fungicide, so be sure to be careful to follow the directions on the back of the bottle. You don’t want to burn your plants by adding too much fungicide. If you don’t do hydroponic gardening (a method of growing plants without soil, in nutrient rich water instead), I’m not sure if this will work on your soil-based plants and veggies.
But, again, I doubt it would hurt. As advertised, this fungicide attacks a wide range of plant diseases: powdery and downy mildew, rusts, blackspot, leaf and fruit spot, fruit rot, and late blight. We were worried when our tomato plants started showing signs of blight, but after a few carefully administered sprays of this product, Bonide Copper Fungicide, it disappeared, leaving perfectly healthy leaves.
That alone made this product worthwhile. You can use this product during the dormant and growing season. Best to administer it often, following the directions of course. The container is trigger action with three (3) settings: spray, stream, and off.
We have found no cons so far. Doubt there will be any so long as we practice what the directions tell us.
I am reviewing the Captain Jacks Copper Fungicide by Bonnie Products. This particular fungicide is for organic gardening and it can be used on flowers, fruits and vegetables. This is what caught my attention because I have been buying separate types of fungicide for each type of plants and this is an all in one! It controls a list of plant diseases such as black spot, powdery mildew, downy mildew and early blight with concentrations of copper.
I found that the copper fungicide has worked the best so I first used this on my roses because they had black spot and it really worked on cleaning up the disease. I will reapply in about 7 days if they still show signs of the disease.
Next summer I am going to be watching my grapes and if they show signs of powdery mildew I am going to try this spray on them. At the end of this years growing season I had an issue with the grapes and I wasn’t aware there was a safe fungicide I could use on the fruit but now I have some that I am able to use.
On the bottle they have attached a really helpful booklet that gives you directions as well as all the information on each type of plant, friut or vegetable you can use this on. I am very pleased with this product and I highly recommend it.
I’ve liked this product, it can help with a lot of plant sicknesses for flowers, fruits, and vegetables. It says it can help with lots of different mildew diseases, blackspot, leaf and fruit spot, fruit rot, and late blight.
It can also be used in dormant plants and hydroponic gardening. The instructions have you apply 2 weeks prior to the normal time you run into such diseases or once you see signs of them. You can reapply after 7-10 days until the plant is better.
This comes with 16 ounces of ready to use product. The sprayer has two spraying options and an off mode. You can spray in a stream, or in a wider application. Having a lot of perennial flowers as well as growing a garden with fruits and vegetable every year, this product can be very useful.
There’s almost always some plant that has something wrong with it. So this kind of product is useful to have on hand when the disease is first noticed. A few of my plants also get the same mildew on it around the same time every year, so I find it best to pre-treat the area.
I usually don’t have to reapply when I treat it ahead of time. This product will be great to have on hand and I love that it treats lots of different problems because sometimes it’s hard to tell what the exact disease is.

At last, a systemic fungicide that is earth friendly. Not quite ‘organic’ but a lot less harmful than other brands of systemic fungicide. Good concentration rates and NO horrible white mess and residue.
I needed this for control of Jap Beetle and used it both as foliage and root treatment. Be careful though, if you use it as a foliage treatment, do it late evening or early morning as if wet in the sun it will ‘burn’ tender leaves.

The stated ingredient is what is recommended to use. It is difficult to say if it is what I need as the plants in question are heavily infested with something. I do not even know if it is a fungus. Walmart’s delivery was very prompt.
This provides a powerful, systemic protection that prevents and cures fungicide. Formula will not wash off. Lasts for up to 1 month. Provides a broad spectrum of disease control on roses, flowers, lawns, trees and shrubs.
Proven to encourage turf rooting and to improve color in woody shrubs.
This is SO watered down! It doesn’t work. We previously purchased Fertilome brand, but decided to give this brand a try. HORRIBLE!! It was more expensive and was so diluted that when we opened the bottle, there was not even an indicating whiff of the chemical smell.
Since we bought it, we used it. It failed miserably!!! DO NOT BUY! We’re back to Fertilome.

Love this ready to spray product, this year has been hard on my lawn. Lately I have been having issues with weeds and fungus taking control of my yard. This product would be perfect for a small yard and spray where is needed can last a while if used on occasion.
In my situation I had to use whole bottle. Needless to say I have a huge yard so unfortunately I used whole bottle on a portion of my yard hoping these brown patches don’t spread. On the part that I used this product on it was easy to apply and I seen a drastic improvement over a couple days, the bottle is very easy to grip, smell is not to strong.
What I really love is this product is ready to spray no measuring or adding water etc. This makes it very convient and confident it will work better. My grass is looking better and I am very happy with results, I would definately recommend this product to others.
I bought BioAdvanced Fungus Control for Lawns! It controls Brown Patches, dollar spots, rust sports, Summer Patches, Anthracnose! I had brown patches of grass caused by a fungus! I bought this and when I got home I connected to my garden hose to apply! I particularly liked this product because after you shake the container, you hook a garden hose on the bottle and the contents gets mixed with the water to equally mix product where it is not pure product! It sprayed out in a steam that I could handle on to the grass! I sprayed it on the brown spots and a couple of days later I checked the spots and they were minimizing everyday after! I will be buying this product after I run out! Protects the lawn for up to a month! Great Product!.
In 2018 and 2019, I spread Scott’s Fungicide with the preventative rate on my Northern Illinois Kentucky Bluegrass lawn; however, the fungus always appeared. From 2000 to 2022, I spread Scott’s Fungicide with the curative rate; however, the fungus continued to appear.
I’ve had to use another brand to prevent the spread. My advise is, Don’t waste your money if you live in the Chicago area.
Follow the directions on the bag. Use it 2 times a year and it eliminated several brown spots caused by fungus and rot. Also used with grubex throughout the year and focus now is only on weed control.
Don’t expect it to be perminant without some work on understanding what’s going on in your lawn. With grubs and weed control I could find out what was causing the brown spots caused by fungus. This cleared up the lawn within a week or two.
Patch Pro Fungicide is a systemic fungicide that contains the active ingredient Propiconazole and is designed to get rid of a broad spectrum of harmful and unsightly diseases on plants and lawns. Patch Pro controls many fungi and diseases such as brown patch, powdery mildew, and blight.
Two weeks ago I purchased and applied this product to treat a grey leaf problem I noticed in my St. Augustine grass. Conditions here in southern Brazoria county have been rainy, humid and hot. The Grey Leaf problem is gone now and my property looks nice and green all around.
My neighbors on the other hand, now have brown patch.
My yard was a mess , and had a commercial company treating my yard brown spots all over. I fired them and I got this product yard has never look so good ! Solutions Pest and Lawn is the place to shop ! Just Clipping.
I’ve been using Patch Pro for two years now, and it works great with my shade fescue in order to prevent and alleviate fungal growth. The only downside is that you need to wear gloves and cover up your arms and legs, which can be brutal in the Southern summer heat.

I used Dr Earth products from the organic soil to the insecticide sprays and fertilizers, when it first came out. Having moved I had to search the internet to remember the name as its been years since I had an organic vegetable garden.
I also had pets in my yard. Dr Earth products are safe my vegetables grew enormous and I now have found a place that carries this amazing product. Took some searching but I found it.
Good product. I applied to decorative bushes around my house that had a mold/fungus problem. Its still too early to tell if its going to work but Im optimistic. The only downfall is the bottle seem to leak some of the liquid out during shipping.
It controls, stops, and prevents over 75 diseases on flowers, vegetables, shrubs, fruit and shade trees. Mix with water as directed and apply with a sprayer to control leaf spots, rust, blights, fruit rot, mildew and many other diseases.
For outdoor, residential use only. Concentrated formula is ready to mix with water. A simple squeeze of the bottle measures the perfect amount for use. Concentrated formula can make up to 64 gal fungicide.

Bonide Mancozeb Flowable W/Zinc Fungicide Concentrate, 1 Pt. is a broad spectrum fungicide for use on a wide variety of vegetables and ornamentals. Controls leaf spot, downy mildew, blights, anthracnose, botrytis and other listed diseases.
Use the higher mixing rates when disease conditions are severe. The addition of boride spreader-sticker to the spray mixture will improve the performance of this product. Apply spray mixture thoroughly to the foliage of the plant, including the underside of the leaves.
I’ve tried every other product available with very limited success. For the last 3 years Black spot has decemated my Roses. I applied this stuff as recommended and then used it a second time a week later.
It seems as though the Black Spot is gone. It’s hard to tell for sure because the already existing black spots don’t go away. But, after 2 applications it is appearing as if I may have the upper hand.
The black spot is no longer gaining ground, ande many new leaves have started to show up looking very healthy. For this the “Mancozeb” would rate a 5. I docked it one point becuase it really looks bad on the leaves.
I’m going to apply it one more time to be safe, and then switch to another less functional brand in hopes of keeping the black spot away without the ugly appearance of the Mancozeb. If this takes care of the problem, and it seems to be, I’ll use thgis stuff the rest of my life.
This product is simply amazing in controlling the black rust on my roses. Black rust is a natural enemy to any and all rose bushes regardless of what kind they are. I personally have a large variety of rose bushes and every season they’re all attacked by black rust which form on the leaves and causes the leaves to yellow and brown and eventually all the leaves fall from the bush and I’m left with only a thorny stem with a blossom on top.
I did some research on line and found that Mancozeb is by far the best I’ve found that keep this fungus under control regardless of how bad the infection may have gotten, this fungicide will bring your roses back from the brink.
First I thought it didn’t work, and it may not give you 100% the desired results it does help. I also must say that I didn’t start to use it early enough. The fungus problem was already widespread when I started to use Mancozeb.
Ready-to-Spray Bundle cures and prevents turf damaging diseases and keeps them from invading your lawn. This rainproof formula provides up to 1-month protection against most common lawn diseases, including brown patch, dollar spot, summer patch, rusts and anthracnose.

Bonide’s Copper Fungicide is ready-to-use and contains copper sulfate 7%. For controlling early & late blight, leaf spots, downy mildew, anthracnose & certain other fungal diseases on various veggies, flowers, ornamentals & fruits.
Control challenging diseases longer with this natural bio fungicide. Protects against fungus, mold, mildew, and rot using Mother Nature’s good bacteria. Say goodbye to disease on your leaves and in your soil and hello to stronger plants, both indoor and outdoor.
Use on your vegetables, roses, fruits, berries, nuts, flowers, foliage houseplants, ornamental trees, and shrubs.
I really wanted to love this product. I used it every 7 days as directed at first signs of rust fungus that quickly took over my front yard. It made zero difference in the fungus, however it did promote new growth much more rapidly.
Unfortunately within a week that new growth had to be chopped down because of the fungus but for a few days my yard looked a lot better than it had. I was going to give it one more attempt but the price increase makes it not worth it.
I might be open to trying again next year in my backyard garden since it doesn’t harm pollinators. What I loved: Rapid growth, easy to use, no foul smell like some other fungicides, could be used as a spray or as part of watering (I did both) and is friendly to pollinators! What I didn’t love: Didn’t help with what I needed it for, stains everything, not much product for the cost.
There are more than 150 varieties of roses in my garden, and fungus was my biggest gardening problem for years. Before I tried every single way and remedy on the market, but could hardly control it(.
It was my nightmare, honestly (especially for some sorts of roses). Now I have no fear and can’t stop thanking you, guys :). Even the most disease sensitive sorts became fine, healthy and happy giving more healthy flowers and lots of healthy leaves.
All my roses, fruit trees and bushes adore which had fungus issues before are amazing now. Please, please, go on. I wish your company to grow and stay forever with us, nothing compared to what you created :).
Fight back against powdery mildew, leaf spot, anthracnose and gray mold on your fruit and vegetable plants as well as ornamental plants and shrubs. For organic gardening, the active ingredient in Garden Sentinel is a naturally occurring bacteria.
This broad spectrum preventative biofungicde/bactericide controls or suppresses fungal and bacterial plant diseases. It can be used up to and including the day of harvest. It’s now available in concentrate and ready-to-use formulas.
For the concentrate, mix 1 tsp. of concentrate with 1 gallon of water. Spray just enough to wet all leaves and fruit with minimal run-off or dripping. 16 oz. of concentrate makes 96 gallons of spray.
The ready-to-use formula requires no mixes or sprayer. Spraying can be repeated every 7-10 days or as needed. Product Label.
I used this product from the minute I planted my tomatoes and followed the directions faithfully, But still they developed the yellowing of the leaves and brown spots. My tomatoes were planted in new grow bags with fresh soil.
So the Garden Sentinel didn’t work for that disease. But I was able to control the Black Spot on my Peony bushes.
Last year I had fungus problems in my phlox and tomatoes. This year, spraying Garden Sentinel every 2 weeks, I have seen no black spot or leaf yellowing and have a great crop of tomatoes. It works best if you spray before the black spot appears, but it has cut down on fungus on other plants that I did not pre-spray as well.
The most important step in preventing and controlling fungus in your lawn is to keep the grass healthy. This means mowing at the proper height, watering deeply and infrequently, and fertilizing properly.
If you do have a fungus problem, you can treat it with a fungicide. Be sure to follow the directions on the label carefully.
