20 Best Fujifilm Camera For Beginners (2023 Updated)

I was looking for an upgrade to the focus system of my X-T20. I specifically wanted an interchangeable system that was lightweight for travel photography and the occasional street shot if I didn’t bring my Ricoh.

I went from the X-T3 to this – and many would think I’m insane to give up some of the wonderful traits of the X-T3! First of all, I’m not a video shooter. I just wanted superb quality images in a lightweight system.

No need for all the extras either. Many complaints of the x-t30 center around the small size, the, tripod plate mounting hole being in awkward position and one memory card slot. My X-T20, my first Fuji camera and the one that brought me 50% of my portfolio images, is a similar handling so I was already used to these disadvantages.

Secondly, most reviews I read were written by men who complained primarily of the ergonomics of this camera. I looked high and low across multiple forums and across so many YouTube videos and not one female ever wrote a review of this camera that I could see and very few reviews were written by men with small hands.

Had there been more reviews written by petite women, I would likely have bought it sooner. Ergonomics aside, this is a great lightweight system that delivers beautiful images. I use the pull out screen for discreet shooting on the streets.

It does everything I need and more and my file sizes are not outrageous. If you’re into travel or street, this should be a very strong contender on your shopping list.

I’ve been looking for a camera that provides a versatile, high-range set of shooting opportunities while also fitting in your pocket for quite a while now. At first, I was unsure about my decision, but when I finally got this camera in my hands, I couldn’t have been happier about my choice.

It’s light, powerful, lightning-fast and the film simulations are absolutely superb. Recommended for pretty much everyone, to be honest. It’s such a great little camera!.

Great mirror less camera! I’m new to photography and this camera is perfect. I wanted to find a camera that I could take anywhere with me without it being too big and this one is perfect. Great camera to take on any adventure.

Camera doesn’t not feel cheap either. It has some weight to it. Definitely recommend for any new beginners.

I ordered the “Fujifilm BC-W235 Dual Battery Charger” with it, and I also wanted the “Fringer FR-FTX1 Nikon F Lens to Fujifilm X Adapter”. I did NOT order any Fuji lens! I’m experimenting, using my Nikon ‘D’ and ‘G’ Lenses; some FF and some DX (APS-C)! After fully charging, I install battery, put on Fringer Adapter and then mount my 18-200mm DX Nikkor G.

WORKS! Set some settings in the Menu such as, under I. Q. Page 3: “Mount Adapter Setting” and inputted into 6 fields a number of my Nikon Lenses; “SHOOT WITHOUT LENS”, “Focus Setting Lever” to ON If you’re photographing with a “D” type Nikkor (currently have the 60mm f/2.

8 AF Micro Nikkor f/2. 8 “D” lens on camera) then go to the Focus Mode Selector and set that to ‘M’ (this disables the “AF MODE” in the AFMF Menu Tab setting so be aware of that if you switch back to a Nikon ‘G’ Lens).

Also set in the AFMF menu tab the “MF ASSIST” to PEAK and set that to “RED (HIGH) for any ‘D’ type Nikkor or any Manual Focus Nikon lens that you may have! Then create a MY MENU and add these settings to it if you’re contemplating doing what I am planning! My 60mm Micro Nikkor goes to 1:1; the Fuji lens goes to 1:2 and in IR, produces a Hot Spot according to a Lens Listing on Kolari web site.

I would say that, so far, I am pleased with this camera with a few complaints. The Retro design reminds me of my Nikon Df. However I am looking at this camera for possible conversion to IR and/or UV; which some call “Full Spectrum”.

I don’t know yet if this particular Fuji will be the subject of a conversion; (maybe a used X-T2) however having used it for a week or so, I consider it the best camera for a conversion; with this adapter, it works well with some Nikon Lenses (had clicking problems with 105mm Micro Nikkor ‘G’ Lens) and I also consider Fuji Cameras as possibly the best for Nikon lens adaptation with this Fringer Adapter.

Wiil continue experimenting with this camera!.

The X-T4 is my first mirrorless and FujiFilm brand camera. I was in searched for something different from the typical brands of Nikon or Canon. To my delight, the X-T4 has all the bell and whistles that I would expect for a digital camera to have, in todays market, plus more! There are two features in the X-T4 that really stuck out to me while researching several cameras in this price range.

The first big feature is the film simulation. This feature is beyond amazing and the biggest factor as to why I wanted to purchase this camera. The idea that I can fine tune the look of my photos in-camera without the use of a photo editor was mind blowing.

Experimenting with the settings and with the vast FujiFilm community help, I managed to find great vintage looks while mixing it up with my own twist. And to add a big bonus, saving those settings for future use! Man this is what all cameras are missing! Additionally, I love the vintage body, the film noise it produces and the colors, well nothing beats FujiFilm colors.

The 2nd biggest factor for this purchase was the ability to film in 10-bit 4:4:0 with the ability external recording in 10-bit 4:4:4. For some, that “0” is a deal breaker but the reality is that most dslr and mirrorless shoot in 4:2:0 and not in 10-bit.

It is indeed a powerful camera. Before I conclude my overall thoughts, I’d like to include a side note for features of this camera. Filming in 240FPS at 1080HD. As far as I am aware, this is the only camera that films at that speed.

Incredible piece of hardware, right? I do have to say that I have not done much testing with this high speed frame rate but the overall consensus is that the image is bit soft. Personally, don’t mind that it is.

Overall, this camera is an excellent photographer’s camera with the bonus feature of filming video. If you want to really step up your photography game without the need to “fix it in post” I challenge you to do it in-camera with a camera like the FujiFilm X-T4.

I’m a Fujifilm Xpro3 user, but needed a camera to shoot video to make a youtube channel. I like all the video features and the pop out screen as it’s made recording myself so much easier. My favorite feature by far is that there is an Eterna LUT preview while shooting in F-Log so that I can gauge what my footage will look like in Premiere Pro.

I do have to say that the swinging doors for the connection ports on the left side are stupid. It baffles me why the SD card side has removable doors, but the important side with the mic jack and USBC connections are flap doors.

It gets in the way when recording yourself and should have been applied to that side. Also, cmon Fujifilm, no headphone jack? If put into a cinema rig, I need the USBC port to keep the camera charged.

Now I have to choose if I want to use headphones or charge the camera. Few design flaws but it works well. Also, another point knocked off because it’s heavily advertised for having 10bit but that only works when using an external monitor.

I thought it was internal from all the videos about this camera. I only bought this camera because I already have Fuji lenses and didn’t want to spend over $5K in going over to Sony just to make videos.

This camera delivers results. The new autofocus is amazing and I’m sure it will only get better for both stills and video. Make sure you setup your AF settings for the lens and job and you’ll be set.

The body is solid, the buttons and dials feel much more premium than the T3 and T4, battery life isn’t longer than the X-T4 but it’s still great and much better than the T3. The image quality in stills is the same as the X-T4 and T3 but it shines in video.

The jump in video quality from F-log to Flog 2 is huge, the colors are rich, the dynamic range is incredible, rolling shutter is very controlled and it looks much more organic when you compare it to previous models.

Really happy about that. The new grip is the most comfortable I’ve ever held, the body has enough buttons and they are well positioned for my hands. Heavy zoom lenses like the 16-55 2. 8, 50-140 2. 8 and 50 1.

0 all feel great because of the thick grip. This is a huge win for us pros that shoot all day long. What I find confusing about the camera is the fact that you cannot control ISO from the dials. I personally like having my aperture set on the ring, the ISO in the front dial and shutter speed in the rear dial.

This camera only allows you to control either the shutter or aperture from the dials, all the customization you get is which dial controls which of the two. ISO is controlled by a separate button that brings up the ISO menu on screen so selecting the right iso takes too many steps and it makes the camera slow and cumbersome in some situations.

Fuji needs to address this. The X-T3 and T4 both allow you to bypass the iso and shutter dials completely and set your iso, aperture and shutter however you like. This $2500 camera should be as customizable as those but it is not.

That’s a real head scratcher and it goes against the precedent set by older bodies. If Fuji fixes this issue, this camera would be perfect for me.

Very good camera. Amazing picture quality, responsive and durable, weather resistant. Fujifilm has a stellar lineup or weather resistant lenses to go with it (WR), I added 16/2. 8 and 90/2 to this camera, and the image quality is mind blowing.

On sale this was 50% cheaper than X-T4, which has the same sensor, but adds IBIS and larger battery. I would say X-T4 isn’t worth paying this much more. X-T3 is perfect in every way.

The first time I used a camera was my Dad’s 35mm Voigtlander Vito B and the X-Pro 3 immediately reminded me of looking through the optical viewfinder for the first time to take a picture. After 20 years of upgrading through various digital compact cameras, I have finally found something that looks and feels like a high quality film camera and delivers beautiful JPEG results.

If you have grown up using a screen to take a picture on digital cameras, then you might not like the X-Pro 3 design with its hidden screen. Don’t worry, there are others in the Fuji range that offer the same technology in a different skin.

What you are buying here is the shooting experience of holding a viewfinder to your eye to take a picture. I love it and find myself concentrating more on the subject, rather than checking the images.

You will need a lens to go with this and the 23mm F2 is a ‘must have’ and ideally suited to the optical viewfinder scale, so start with this one. But if you only plan to buy one lens, then maybe consider the X100v, which is less expensive and includes on-camera flash.

The X-Pro 3 is an amazing camera with very sophisticated capabilities, yet still accessible to a novice like me. It is such a pleasure to take pictures that I have taken more and better pictures than ever before.

This feels like a camera my children will inherit, a bit like my Dad’s Vito B.

An amazing body. Has just about every feature you’ve ever wanted. Files are rich in info. Lenses are sharp. AF is surprisingly quick for a medium format. Eye tracking does a pretty good job, better than I expected as long as there is some light on the front of the subject.

IS works great for handheld. Images are 5+ star. BUT! I haven’t figured out if how to permanently turn off IS. I only use it off tripod and every time you turn the power on you most manually turn IS off.

If you forget to turn it off your archi/landscape images will be soft if the exposure is long. Lastly, the Fuji APP SUX! SUX! SUX! Embarrassingly so. Like a Windows based 1990’s beta app level. I cannot believe they would make something so useless.

Would give the APP a 0 star.

My studio 5DSR is getting old and Canon doesn’t have a newer studio camera in 2021. So I think it’s time to upgrade. I got GFX100 for studio shoot. My main workflow is tethering to Capture One Pro. I use it with 32-64 45-100 110.

I also use it with Kipon adapter and Canon EF lenses, 16-35 from 20mm, 100 Macro L, TS-E 24. These lens are not as sharp as GF lenses but they are still very sharp. The only down side for tethering with GFX100 compare to Canon is, while the live view is playing on Capture One Pro, you can’t click the shutter.

It must be stop before releasing the shutter. Also I could not control the timer from Capture One. These are not a big thing. I just need to adapt my workflow. At the end, this new Fuji GFX system cost less than half of Phase One or Hassy system, but give 90% of the image quality in the studio.

Worth it!.

I moved to this from Canon 5D series cameras for studio product work. I’ve also used Fuji X series cameras for travel since the original X100 came out. The jump in resolution with the GFX is significant.

I was always suspicious about those who said that medium format had a different ‘look’ to FF. Now I know what they meant – there really is another dimension to the image files that FF doesn’t have; hard to describe, but it’s there.

Downsides? Despite already using Fuji X series for some time and thus being familiar with Fuji’s architecture, there’s a serious learning curve with this. It’s nowhere near as intuitive as the smaller Fujis; the buttons are too small, too close together and there are a multiplicity of assignable options for every single one of them.

It’s too easy to inadvertently press something and find yourself in some outlandishly complex auto-mode and not know how to get yourself back. I shoot almost exclusively in full manual mode and it’s really not as easy with this body as you’d think it should be.

Please give me back my physical dials, Fuji. I’d really like to see a completely stripped down version of this camera but with this sensor and physical dials as on the X series. Then there’s the cost.

If you’re reading this, then you know you’re in for an investment, and a loss on your old equipment, but you also need to budget for a serious computer and memory/storage upgrade. My 2015 (high spec in its day) Macbook Pro just laughed at me.

200+MB raw files really makes you focus on the economy of your workflow and storage regimen. You just can’t afford to be lazy in the way you can with moderate sized FF files. Because of Fuji’s RAF format raw files, I also had to move to Capture One from DxO Optics Pro and there’s another seriously complex program to have to learn.

So, it’s a huge investment in more ways than one. I also assumed that I’d be OK using an appropriate lens adapter with my existing Canon lenses, but despite opting for the best reviewed adapter B&H could provide, that really didn’t work out so well at all.

Some lenses worked adequately (the T/S lenses, which are completely manual and have a larger image circle) but most were simply frustrating at best and non-functional at worst (the zoom lenses). Compared to the GF45-100 and GF120 macro (which are both astonishing) that I opted for along with the body, adapting the Canon lenses was too much of a compromise to be worth pursuing.

Then, there’s the dust issue in post. Someone mentioned this, and it’s real. You will spend significantly more time in post dealing with dust specs that you couldn’t even see in the studio that are highlighted glitteringly under studio flash at this resolution.

OK. First-world problem. I’ll get over it. Having said all this, I’ve now got a couple of months experience under the belt and I’m beginning to have a lot more confidence in the system and in the processing.

Every shoot nudges the pleasure/pain ratio in the right direction, and I’m beginning to get some really nice results. Four stars for the hardware; five stars for the improved results I’m already getting.

Am I happy with the move? Ask me in a few more months and I think I’ll be giving you a resounding ‘Yes’. Just don’t expect fantastic results straight away and be prepared to invest time in it, no matter your previous experience.

I got this camera to do photography, tutorial videos, and live-streaming. It’s incredible for photos and and good for videos but the webcam mode is TERRIBLE. It doesn’t matter what settings you choose, the moment the camera plugs into the computer, its throws all Autofocus preset out the window and the autofocus on the camera decides to go absolutely berserk.

The slightest on camera movement causes AF to lose it. After 3-5 seconds of spazzing from the background to the foreground, it’ll grab on again. and this is for slight slight moments with plenty of lighting.

I’ve spent hours on the phone with fuji help and they recommend me just reaching out to adorama to return it. unfortunately I’m just past the month window. If you’re looking for a “do everything” little camera, avoid this one if you’re hoping to plug it into your comp to use as a webcam.

Also, their downloadable Fujifilm Xwebcam2 program hasn’t worked on macs since july 2019. Not expecting a fix there.

I love this camera! As someone new to mirrorless cameras with very little experience using manual mode, I really appreciate the presets available for both portrait and landscape. This has allowed me to jump right in and learn as I go.

The extendable screen for self portraits is fantastic, too! Overall, the camera is a great size and weight, and it is comfortable to hold. The price is also very affordable for a camera with so many options and such great image quality! I highly recommend this camera if you’re looking for an affordable option that allows you to grab and go as you are learning.

This is my first “real” camera. I’ve always been interested in photography, but I didn’t have the slightest idea about any of it. Learned how to use this camera fairly quickly. It takes beautiful and crisp photos even with the kit lens.

I’ve had it for three months and my only cons so far is the short battery life, and how warm the camera gets when shooting video or taking continuous shots.

The Fujifilm X-T3 itself is a do-almost-anything camera. After getting over the learning curve of its proprietary features through the menu, you’ll realize how it differentiates itself from other brands of mirrorless APS-C sensor cameras.

Its film simulation modes does an excellent job of altering JPG and RAW photos while allowing for further tweaking of photo and video parameters. Its super low noise, especially at high ISOs come in handy when shooting in low light.

In fact, in video mode, it captures much more shadow details than any consumer camcorder I’ve tried. You won’t find deep shadows crushed to black even in the darkest locations. The high bitrate recording also prevents any video artifacts and the 24 progressive frame rate is a very nice touch to make video appear more film-like.

When you combine this with the built-in film simulation modes. Home videos take on a whole new dimension. The 18-55mm lens is faster than other kit lenses at F2. 8. This allows for decent bokeh for portraits and faster shutter speeds in darker scenes.

The lens’s optical stabilizer generally helps you get a stable picture at about 1 stop lower than you’d otherwise be able to get; you can get away with a shutter speed of 1/8 using the wide end of the lens.

The wide end of the lens is equivalent to a 28mm on a full-frame camera so it is wide enough to capture most landscapes and fit in a human subject at the same time. The long end may be slightly wanting but it’s not a problem in most situations.

The Flashpoint X R2 external speedlight does add substantial weight to the camera but there really is no substitute for its angling flexibility, flash output range, and ability to do stellar flash fills.

The transceiver function is also a big plus if you need multiple flash syncing capability. The whole package easily fits in a small backpack and is the perfect alternative to a full-frame D-SLR for travel and vacation photography and videography.

I bought it 7 years ago. And now it is still my best friend on any adventure trip. I love it for many reasons. First, it’s very compact and light weight. on a long trip I don’t wanna carry any too heavy and bulky.

The more lightly it is, the more often I will use. Second, the picture quality is good enough to save my meaningful moment even in lack of bright light condition. Third, fuji gives amazing color ( it’s warm, it’s bright).

I don’t need to do any photoshop after that and my pics still look perfect. Some my friend photographers said that sometimes they wanna mimic fuji color by using lightzoom or photoshop, but they cant get successed.

Bonus point, it is very style when used as a fashion accessories. Last words, I love my Fuji camera, even if I upgrade the camera I’ll still choose Fuji.

I was looking for a mirror less camera so I could take brighter photos of flatlays. I think this might have been a tad bit overkill…but I love this little thing! There aren’t many settings and it was pretty easy to get started once out of the box.

I would suggest getting multiple batteries though. This thing doesn’t hold a big charge (much like other cameras) but if you have a few extra batteries you shouldn’t have an issue. Overall, I think it’s great for someone who wants to get into product photography, or even landscape photography.

The color range on this thing is gorgeous!.

Fujifilm is headed in the right direction with the X-T10, but is not quite there. What makes the X-T10 Excellent is that it is fun and easy to use. It’s fun because of the mechanical dials for Exposure Compensation and Shutter Speed.

You can see at a glance two of the four most important settings settings on a camera. What is missing is an ISO dial. To get that you still have to go to the menu. The tilt screen is annoying if you do Youtube style video because you can’t view yourself as you could with a fully articulated screen.

My prediction is that Fujifilm will add the ISO button and eventually the Fully Articulated Screen in future models, but make the buyer pay a whole lot more. But if you’re not into paying loads of money for camera equipment the X-T10 is the camera to buy.

CH – or Continuous High Speed Shooting is amazing on this camera. Color saturation is excellent. Another problem is the lenses. To get really quality lenses, you need to pay more then the cost of the camera.

But if you buy manual focus prime lenses, you get the best bang for your buck. You can have almost all the major camera setting without a menu. You have aperture with a twist of the lens focus ring; exposure compensation with a physical dial; and shutter speed with another dial.

The only missing item is ISO which requires looking on the viewfinder menu to adjust. So for a fun, easy to use, fully adjustable camera that doesn’t break the $1,000 budget limit, choose the X-T10.

I decided to switch to Fuji after my Sony a6000 stopped working. I have only had it for a couple of weeks now but I believe I made the right choice choice. This is a great camera. And the included 18-55mm “kit lens” is excellent.

The menu layout is cleaned compared to Sony. The physical buttons and dials make it much easier to adjust settings on the fly. I have not felt the need to shoot in RAW or use post-processing because the camera jpegs are that good.

The film simulations, shadow and highlight adjustments make it easy to control the tone of your images. The controls might take a little time to get used to, though. The positioning of the Q button is a little awkward, as it can be easily pressed by accident.

The other issue is ergonomics, as the design makes gripping it a little difficult. My a6000 was easier to handle despite being almost the same size. However, these are minor drawbacks to what is otherwise a very good system.

Took this on a camping trip with the 18-55mm kit, Rokinon 12mm, and Tokina 100mm macro. Overall an excellent camera with a few flaws. The positioning of the Q button is terrible. It’s somewhat too sensitive and activates even when my thumb is next to it with a tiny bit of the finger at the edge of the button.

I’ve accidentally bumped into the Q menu nearly every time I have the camera in my hand. Supposedly Fuji has just released a firmware to add a delay before the Q menu opens up. Fuji’s companion phone app is extremely slow to connect with the camera.

You’d want to invest in a real release cable or intervalometer if you do long exposures. I tried doing a 30 minutes exposure for star trails. Used the Fuji phone app to hold the shutter open, and the phone’s clock app for timer.

For some reason the camera had ended the exposure around 13 minutes in and went on standby. I’ll have to do further testing on this.

I originally ordered the fujifilm for the photography aspect. I really love how it had the film simulations for the camera. They actually turned out great, but I think I will go for a different type of fujifilm.

The camera took a bit of getting use to being that I was switching over from Sony to test this one out.

These cameras give you all of the benefits of the extra sharpness due to dropping the use of a de-mosaicing filter, as well as Fuji’s unparallelled control over colour styles. Compared with the XE1 which I have used for years, the single point AF is very fast and accurate, but I would not recommend this camera for its continuous AF.

Manual AF is by wire, so not ideal. You might as well get a cheap legacy lens + dumb adapter if you are going to do Manual (i. e. macros, portraits). With smaller lenses it is small and light enough to fit into a Parka pocket.

Be sure you get the updated Fuji firmware. It enhances AF speed and a wide range of functions. You can control ISO, SS, and Aperture as well as use a very useful auto setting. It has about 70 phase detect centre AF points.

If you want to control all the settings and are confident in your capacity to shoot quickly and follow the action yourself, you do not need all the bells and whistles of the later models. It has the same sensor as the X100S.

The first advantage of fuji XE2 is that it is small, not really heavy, easy to carry when you’re travel. It also have various film filters to choose. However, I think it kinda hard for someone whose just a beginner like me to set up this camera.

Sometimes; I don’t remember which button or setting that I changed to block the film filter options. If I want to have those filters back; the only way that I know is to reset the whole settings which is annoying sometimes.

This camera has the X trans II sensor which, in combination with Fujis classic film simulations produces excellent quality JPEGs straight from the camera. For Raw shooters, the built in Raw processor can produce JPEG and TIFF files in camera with little,if any post processing required.

The silver retro look is enhanced by solid metal dials for shutter speed and exposure compensation, which combined with Fujis XF and M series lenses with aperture rings, make manual shooting effortless.

Fitting the XF 27mm pancake lens turns this into a pocket sized compact, ideal for everyday use. This is a good value second hand camera. Make sure you update the firmware to get all of the performance improvements introduced in Version 4.

I’ve owned and used several Fujifilm X cameras, starting with an X-E1, X-E2, X-Pro1, X100T and X-Pro2 I was happy with every one of them and only sold them for upgrade reasons. Bought the X-E4 as a possible replacement to my X-100T for candid street and low angle macro shooting because of the tiltable screen.

Never imagined how complicated its use would be because of the buttonless design. The focus selector is a must for me and the substitution of that for obscure touch screen gestures that force you to remove the camera from your eye for anything than on other models you would manage by tact alone.

After ordering my body alone here, paying a hefty shipping fee and criminal import duties, only to find it at a much lower total locally from the book selling company, 27mm lens included one week before my purchase would arrive to my door, I really wanted to like it.

No way! Imagewise it’s OK but ergonomics truly stink. Fuji really botched the design this time. On the block it goes. This is the 2nd time I’ve been burned with a purchase here –after a hundred pleasant transactions since more than three decades ago.

I would have returned it as soon as I handled it but being unable to do at the seller’s cost –international shipping is not reinbursed- and losing a 35% import duties (non-reimbursable unless you are a corporation) I guess this will be my very lastl purchase here unless B&H goes truly global like the Az guys.

Pity, it was pleasant doing business here for many years but there are better options now.

This started to freeze withing the first few weeks I used it. When frozen it would not power off and that battery had to be removed to resolve the issue. On several occasions when the timer was used to take group photos the screen would jump and a pink bar would appear across the lower fifth of the screen.

The resulting photos were not at all in focus. I enjoyed this camera the couple days that it worked. I have sent it back and will be receiving a replacement. Fingers crossed that the next camera is not defective.

I was sold on the Fuji X system for its QPR (quality/price ratio). The A-5 is my starting point. I’ll want an E-4 body, assuming there will be one, but I had a reason not to wait for it. Meanwhile I’m collecting lenses.

The lack of a viewfinder means nothing to me — I prefer the screen. Picture quality is as good as I expected, and versatility is better.
