20 Best Frames For Cross Stitch (2023 Updated)

This frame is amazing. I am a newbie cross stitcher and have previously used round frames. I do not like round frames, they slip, leave major crease marks. This frame is awesome. It keeps the fabric taunt no repositioning required.

The marks left on the fabric are minimal. Snapping the holder part off is a little tough, but doable. If someone has arthritis in the hands this may be harder. Overall, my new favorite frame and makes cross stitching fun!.

Not while quilting, but when carrying the square across a room, I’ve had to stop and pick up the pieces of the rectangle because they’ve come apart and fell to the floor. I suppose I could glue the pieces together, but I think they could be fitted a little bit better from the manufacturer.

Otherwise, this frame is a big improvement over the other antique round hoop I was using for hand-quilting. It fits in my lap or on the arm of my couch/chair, and it is more comfortable to use.

This needlework frame is so useful. I’ve been using it for hand quilting a wall hanging and the size is perfect for being able to make large sections of stitches before having to move the frame. One of the best things about this frame, as compared to a traditional hoop, is that you can leave a side or two unclamped, which made it easier for me to make stitches in some areas of the quilt.

It was a little awkward to get used to holding it since the frame is thicker than what I’ve ever used before, but it didn’t feel awkward for long. It was really easy to put together and once the clamps snapped into the quilt, it gripped really well without leaving indentations once it was removed.

The first few times snapping the clamps on took a bit of muscle, but it got easier.

I was hopeful for this to work, but unfortunately the slits are very splintered. For a scroll frame to work well, the slits need to be well sanded, and this wasn’t. The screws also pop up and come out very easily.

Overall, the product was made a little cheaply. If you have the time to sand this, then it would be a good purchase for the price.

The wing nuts provided are too loose on the lag bolts to hold any tension. Purchased wing nuts to fit the lag bolts, but now the bolt spins in the hole.

These Durkee frames were $100 less than the dealer in my area. They are sturdy and well made. Great buy. I would recommend for the serious monogrammer.

I have not use any of the Durkee hoops as of this review. It was a great deal with my embroidery machine.

I made the absolutely beautiful tambourines using your wooden hoops (small & large), gorgeous lace and jungle bells. Everyone used them from the dance floor to saying their goodbyes as the new couple left for their honeymoon! I shared how easy they were to make out of the wood hoops.

It was well worth making the 400, but it was fun!.

Love, love, love this frame! It does not crease your work and keeps the fabric taut so you can stitch easily. Does it come in 4″ x 4″? I have the larger sizes and love them as well but would also like a smaller size for stitching Christmas ornaments.

I bought Blick’s brand of metal frame last time. I didn’t need the Plexiglas (I replace it with non-glare glass) and prefer a frame not quite so deep, so thought I’d try the Nielsen frames, which are just the metal, no backing or plexiglas, so easy to ship and less wasteful of resourses, I thought.

It didn’t seem right that it provides less yet costs more, but I thought maybe it is better quality. I was wrong about most of this. It is a nice frame, but so is Blick’s (at $20 less for the size I bought).

I wasn’t careful enough about measurements and ended up with a frame that had not enough depth (my bad). It shipped in two separate shipments (one for each side of the frame), which granted is Blick’s, not Nielsen’s, fault.

End result is I have a frame of similar quality to the Blick one for more money. Next time, I’m back to Blick’s frames, which are a great value.

I have a lot of these frames that I’ve purchased over the years, and I would say that they work well for giving artwork on paper a simple, professional look. I haven’t priced alternatives because I like all of my artwork to have the same look so I can swap pieces in and out.

The frames are simple to assemble, but mats, glass, and backings are still required, so the whole process of framing does become a little involved, especially if you’re doing multiples (this is not a job for when you’re in a hurry).

My only real complaint, though, is about the hangers. They hardly ever seem to snap into the frame completely. I’ve never had one fall out, but that is always a concern. Most of my frames are small, but I’d be hesitant to use this type of hanger on anything large.

I am an acrylic artist and use the frames to add to my paintings that are done on canvas board, wood, or masonite substrates. Especially if you are going to put the pieces in a gallery, it is an economical way to frame a work of art and give it the extra added punch of color or finish to encourage a collector to buy your art.

No one looks forward to purchasing art and then having to frame it right away. It may make the difference between a purchase or an “ill think about it” customer. I especially love the colors but wish they were not always “out of stock”.

Great values! Two sets of sidebars and 3 sizes of scroll rods in this set. Ability to have 2 projects going of different sizes is great. Free Shipping is a nice plus too.

A great frame to hold my cross-stitch project. Having clips to hold the fabric in place is much more convenient than sewing the fabric onto the dowels, as was needed with a different model. Maintaining tension is easily done by rolling the dowels as needed.

I needed a frame for a cross stitch cushion cover, having only used a hoop before, I was concerned about using a frame. It was easy to assemble, and is perfect for the job. I was given excellent advice by the salesman in the norwich haberdashery department too.

Very easy to assemble the frame and attach the canvas. No more spending time fiddling to sew canvas onto the tape header. I have several of different sizes which can easily be interchanged to achieve the best sized frame to fit the project.

Well made no sharp or rough edges. Would highly recommend.

I’m a novice quilter and recentky decided to finish some projects I had made the patches for a while back. I was using hoops from the days when I did counted cross stitch & the larger one I purchased when I took a quilting class but nothing felt comfortable.

I watched a tutorial on how to do a particular stitch & the lady was using one of these. She showed how it worked and I thought I might like it. I love the way you can easily adjust tension when needed and the 11″ is perfect for my small lap quilts.

This is the perfect quilting frame for quilting while I watch TV and relax. It is light weight, easy to assemble, easy to store. I’ve been wanting a quilting frame like this for a long time!

These are very good for most projects but I find that a lot of the smaller projects require a spring tension hoop. You must remember to take the project out of the frame to let the frame rest, it will last longer.

You won’t have to buy replacement parts so often.

Wish I’d had one of these years ago. It keeps your fabric lovely and firm from start to finish without continually needing to tighten it. Used in conjunction with the Elbesee Helping Hand, it works really well on a Daylight Stitchmart Stand.

Looking forward to beginning the cross stitch kit. The frame is of a simple structure and I don’t foresee any problems with it

IšverstiShow in original languageThe assembly instructions were a little difficult to understand. I relied more on the illustrations than the written instructions. It’s wonderful to use. Taller than the 30 year old one that I was replacing, that makes it possible to get to my lap over the edge of my recliner.

The wood is an excellent quality. I had no issues with the hardware.

Towards the end, she was complaining that she had been working so much on it that her neck and upper back were hurting because of looking down all the time.

She finished the stalking and it was beautiful which prompted the rest of her children to ask for Grandma made stallings for their kids. I got her this Adjustable Floor Standing Scroll Fame and she could not have been more excited.

She started using it immediately and said it greatly helped with her neck and upper back pain.

I enjoy that I can set the whole thing to the side of my couch when needed, that the piece I’m working on can be adjusted to differing angles based on how I’m sitting, and the ease of being able to sew without cramping my wrist and harms anymore.

The stand could use a bit more sturdy base, but honestly I’m just so please to have upgraded my sewing game, that it’s easy to accommodate this with my foot.

Perfect for the Button & Bead cross stitch kits, looks beautiful with the finished product. My one complaint is that it doesn’t come with the hardware to secure the back of the frame. I had to buy a pack of 45 glazier points – not expensive, but now I have 37 glazier points that I have no use for.

This is the first time I have tried a square hoop and I find that I like the extra stitching area as well as being easier to hold. Nice wood and brass fittings.

The oval shape of the hoop is good when embroidering the edge of a pillow case or tablecloth…you don’t have to move the hoop as frequent.

I have several Durkee EZ frames. They are affordable and easy to use. Many sizes to fit your design sizes.

I purchased the set of these E-Z frames from ANDREA on August 10 2020. Not only was she a hoot to talk to, she was extremely helpful in getting my set at a great price. You need to clone her and you will have an army of satisfied customers!!!.

These hoops are so perfect! Every new machine should come with these hoops!

I do a lot of hand embroidery and these embroidery frames are really well made, comfortable to use. I bound the frame with cotton tape, because this took up some of the frame thickness the pin which slots into the frame was a little to short if using quite a bulky fabric.

I would recommend these frames. They were recommended to me by an experienced embroidery maker.

My daughter bought me this for Christmas 2019. At first I thought I would never find a use for it. How wrong I was! This is fantastic! Sturdy, three different sized hoops and tilts to whatever angle suits you! So good I recommended it to my embroidery group, now all the ladies have one.

The plastic bump which someone mentioned in a review can be remedied by using some felt circles on the underside of the base to make it non-wobbly on a table top but honestly it’s fantastic!.

Never having embroidered before – and not sure that I ever will again – I was worried that this would be a waste of money. It is so easy to use and convenient it has made sewing a joy. 4 rather than 5 stars because it’s quite tall – but I suppose it makes me sit up straight!.

Putting the stand together was relatively simple (comparable to putting IKEA furniture together), and once I put it together I knew how it worked, which made me much more confident about the position adjustments.

The hardware seems to be of good quality. It has a bit of a rough/unfinished sense, but it is still nice looking. It fits into small spaces and easily slides under furniture. My two dissatisfactios are (1) the mechanism for holding the hoop; it is so difficult to raise the bar up on the bolt even with the dowels completely loosened that I am reluctant to move the hoop before the piece is finished, which makes me try to work upside down rather than have to undo the hoop holder; and, related, (2) that while the height and lean are almost infinitely adjustable, the hoop holder has no rotation mechanism so that the only way to turn the hoop is to remove it and reposition it.

I love this! It’s fully adjustable and is great for posture when embroidering. Easy to assemble, adjust and fold, highly recommended!

I had previously bought one of these as a gift for a friend’s wedding. I’m old fashioned and don’t like the idea of giving money as a wedding gift but really wanted something that the couple could keep and treasure for always rather than some electrical item or suchlike that would be rubbished within a few years.

These solid silver photo frames fit the bill perfectly. I have since purchased two more for up-coming weddings and am sure they will be gratefully received. After all, who doesn’t like a special photo in a beautiful frame to treasure forever.

Beautiful, simple but elegant photo frame. Made a lovely gift which was well received. Wooden backing so has weight to it and solid. There is a velvet type backing just as nice. Nicely gift boxed.

I’ve been framing my own paintings for years and this is the first time I have ever drilled a screw hole through the frame. See photo. The frame is beautiful to look at but it’s very light in weight so I think the wood must be pine or some wood that is very soft.

This frame was not cheap and I doubt I can fix it so the hole isn’t visible. I bought two frames and I know I cannot use my hand drill but must use muscle alone when attaching the D-rings to the second frame.

I am not a big person, under 5 ft tall so I didn’t use brute force drilling. I am framing for an art show and am very disappointed in the quality of this beautiful frame. I will not buy it again.

Overall, it is a good frame. But–> There are little flaws here and there and I had to fix them before I can use it. So what I did–> 1) One corner is open. I put in some wood glue and hold it in place by tape.

Let it dry and staple it on the back. 2) There is one pen mark on linen area. I found out the rubbing alcohol can remove that. 3) Linen area has loose thread so I had to put on some pH neutral glue to secure them.

4) Dozen scratch or dirty spots on the golden edge. I use my liquid leaf paint to lightly paint it over. 5) There is also a small dent on the edge. I can’t fix it therefore I try to put it at the bottom side of the painting so it is not that eye catching.

My framed painting is going to an airport gallery for the exhibition. I believe in a large space and from a distance those tiny scratch or dent won’t be a significant issue. What I am saying is if you don’t want to fix up some flaws here and there, then maybe you should invest a little more to get a better frame.

That is what I am going to do next time. Next time, I am going for a frame without those flaws.

I was startled to realized that the concave sections of this frame are not real burlwood but are lightweight pine, faux painted with a repeat pattern of dark flecks against a warm brown background. The effect from a distance might pass for burlwood, but up close there’s no comparison.

The rabbet is shallow, barely allowing for driving points to hold a single mat, backing board, and glass but not deep enough to hold a double mat, glass, and backing without either flat or offset clips to hold it all together.

Otherwise, it’s a decent frame and serves its purpose well.
