Best Foundation For Melasma 2024 (2024 Updated)

This is my holy grail foundation. I wore this on my WEDDING DAY, y’all! The coverage is medium but buildable, so I use a densely-packed brush to stamp on the first layer and then smooth things out with a dampened sponge.

If I need to add a second layer of foundation, I will use the sponge – this ensures the most natural, skin-like finish while maximizing coverage. This is my typical workday foundation. I easily get 8-10 hours of wear if I set with a setting spray.

Probably my favorite quality of this product is that it wears so well. It “meshes” with my skin and I think it still looks pretty (and provides decent coverage) by the end of the day. The best part…it looks like my actual SKIN and not makeup.

I use the shade LC1, which I find is a pretty close shade match for the majority of the year because the undertone suits me well (I can lighten with powder or add warmth with bronzer if needed). In my photos, I applied this foundation right after using the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay 1 Lb | Deep Pore Cleansing Facial Body Mask | The Original 100% Natural Calcium Bentonite Clay Pack Of 3 mask, which makes my face red for about an hour or two after use.

I’ve been using this for a couple of years, and can honestly say I don’t think I could ever go back to my Estee Lauder, Dior, Bare Minerals, or IT Cosmetics CC Cream. The coverage on this is amazing, I’m more of a natural preference, but this foundation is buildable, without looking cakey or dry.

You have to shake the bottle for even consistency, and it comes with a built in applicator (which I love) making application mess free. The finish lasts all day and doesn’t settle in lines, it also works well with or without setting powder.

A lot of the reviews complain about the smell, but what you have to realise is that a Doctor created Physicians Formula for his wife, who suffered from lupus and longed for makeup that wouldn’t aggravate her sensitive skin, so this has no nasties in it.

The smell isn’t even that bad, and I genuinely cannot understand why these people are complaining as it does go within seconds of application. The only downside of this is the lack of shades but I’m lucky enough to find the perfect one for me.

The Murumuru Butter Bronzers are amazing too.

This is a very versatile foundation; I can wear it for everyday or “dress it up” for those special nights by building up the coverage. I would say that the coverage is a solid medium or buildable medium, so this is definitely not for someone who prefers the full-coverage glam look.

This foundation also does not cling to dry patches or make my existing texture look worse. Shade range is also especially impressive given that this is a cruelty free and affordable brand; Medium Olive is one of the best matches I’ve found of any foundation I’ve tried.

While this has a nice finish suitable for drier skin types, the foundation is not particularly long wearing even on my skin that’s dry. It can tend to transfer on my fingers given that it does have a dewier finish, but in terms of wear/fading, it wears away quite evenly without migrating or settling into any cracks and crevices on my face like other full coverage foundations might.

However, it definitely wears better when set with a powder. It’s a great glowy foundation, and I’ve also had luck with mixing this into other foundations that I’ve found to be too matte to make a more natural semi-matte finish foundation mix with higher coverage.

I used Bare Minerals for a long time, but then I got married and my husband decided spending $30 on foundation was excessive, even though HE always gets extra meat on his burritos at Chipotle. So I went looking for a cheaper alternative.

I am so over matte foundations. If you have dryer skin, like me, it’s a nightmare. I was skeptical of this product because of the price point, but HONEY! It feels great on the skin, and that’s coming from somebody who only used powder for 5 years.

I used a damp sponge to apply and it lasts all day with no primer or setting products. (Just moisturizer and toner beforehand. ) Obsessed. Will definitely buy again.

I LOVE THIS FOUNDATION! It’s light weight. And med-full coverage. (Buildable) I love this especially for summer since it doesn’t feel thick or heavy and for me anyways, I have combination skin dry everywhere except the t-zone area and I can wear this without powder.

I just do a little cream blush and or bronzer and Milani setting spray and it stays all day. If it’s really hot you’ll see some shine but it still stays. The one thing I do not like about this foundation is the scent, it perfume-y.

Like floral perfume. Other than that it’s amazing.

Ok my color is actually 10 c but I couldn’t find that one on here. Mine is only a deluxe sample I got from my ipsy but wow ! I think I just found a new favorite foundation! It reminds me of wander beauty nude illusions but less heavy.

It has the best finish! Looks like skin, doesn’t settle into pores or lines. It’s not breaking me out. It stays most of the day. I am impressed! I just ordered a full size from Amazon. I paid 18$ with tax! It’s only 13$ at rite aid but it seems it’s a limited edition? Someone else said that and I couldn’t find it for sale except Amazon , rite aid, and some beauty site I didn’t know.

This is a medium full coverage that feels so lite on my skin! I sure hope the one from Amazon is really the real brand.

I got a sample size in my Ipsy bag. This was such a disappointing product. It look the longest time for it to look remotely ok on my skin. It looked like nasty cakiness and I did my normal prep routine.

This product went right into the trash. I did receive the wrong shade, it happens. You can deepen it up with bronzer. But it looked so nasty on my skin, i won’t try it again. It was too thick, didn’t blend out, looked cakey, and then pulled up as I was trying to blend it out.

My skin is normal to dry. I loved this foundation. Got it in the shade 20W. If you add enough layers, it’s full coverage. My skin looked filtered. It lasted all day and didn’t transfer, but i did use the benefit setting mist.

Didn’t look cakey. Didn’t enhance fine lines. Didn’t cling on to dry areas. I received a deluxe sample in my ipsy bag and now I will purchase the full size.

Let me first say that if you have super oily skin then this foundation is super fantastic! It seems to have a powder built right in and when it dries down it does so to a velvety finish that is super matte, smooth and lightweight.

My oily does not peek through the entire workday. I may have to blot my nose but that’s probably because I’ve been doing so for so long. The issue I have with this foundation is the shade range. I was told by the company to try golden caramel in this shade since I wear classic tan in the Fit Me foundation.

Wrong choice. Golden caramel is nowhere close to classic tan. It is much lighter. I have a cool undertone so extremely difficult to find my shade and I don’t like mixing shades because I can never get them the same each day.

I guess I have to keep mixing until I find the right blend because this foundation is amazing for oily skin. I do not recommend for dry or heavily textured skin. It shows every imperfection rather than concealing them.

I initially really liked this foundation. I have very oily skin, and it was comfortable to wear through my 12 hr work-shift. I didn’t notice it separating around my nose and forehead once my oils came through, and it did a nice job of keeping my oil under control overall.

My issue(s) with the foundation is that it definitely oxidizes a good shade darker (at least) and I started having breakouts. I have had my acne under control for several years now, and about 2-3 weeks of using this foundation I started developing large painful acne.

The foundation is the only thing which had been different in my routine, so I had stopped using it for a week to test my theory. Sure enough, my face cleared in that time and once I went back to using this I developed another round of large acne spots.

It is disappointing since I am still trying to hunt down a replacement for my beloved Too Faced Peach Perfect foundation, and this initially gave me high hopes. I will not be continuing to use this product.

I am combination skin, leaning to oily on my t-zone. I have tried sooo many foundations that either too heavy to be worn daily or too oily that i have to constantly powder. I am a 40y old mom/grad-post student/wife/everything else that comes with that, and I am busy all day-I needed a foundation that would stay, but not look like I am wearing make up but that it gives me enough coverage to look fresh as long as possible.

I have been using this foundation for two weeks now, and I am very pleased with how it looks on my skin, and the wear time. I have to admit I found it a bit hard to find my shade but i did go with same color concealer and foundation and it matches just right.

I am lucky i managed to find the right shade because it just blends with my skin color as if it is my skin color. I am not one to use a lot of concealer but one or two tiny dots and do not like really bright eyes ether as it looks so strange to out in the street with such a heavy layer of make up specially under the eyes that just misses out the entire concept of ones face.

I am very very diligent with my skin care routines, so I would say my face is not bumpy or has a lot of texture. I do have at bit of normal texture around my nose and a few fine lines that are normally very noticeable with other foundations/concealers, but the Rare Beauty one does not sink into my fine lines or texture at all- my skin does look fresh at least for 9-10 hours which for me, it’s a big deal.

I also use the lip balm which I love-I just wish it would stay a bit longer. I do have some hyperpigmentation and the foundation does cover most of it with one application. I am fine with that as I am going for a soft normal look.

SHAKE the foundation before using! The mate lipstick has a normal ware time but do not think it is going to stay all day. I do have to say one needs to wear a light lip conditioner or balm before putting it on or else your lips just feel a bit weird.

not necessarily dry but just strange. The blush is REALLY pigmented so it is good to use just a tiny tiny tiny bit and build from there so one is not pulling and rubbing the skin so much with your brush.

Rubbing leads to wrinkles!!!! I have not tried anything else as I am not really into the primer, setting spray or highlighter and eye liner look for an everyday look. I will try the mascara at some point.

Other than that, for a celebrity line the products I’ve tried are pretty good, do the job, not overly expensive, compact, good packaging, good shade match, and good look. would buy again.

It’s also very important to use a good primer and setting powder to keep it from separating and sliding off your face just like any other foundation. The thoughts that Selena and her team put into this product and makeup line overall is amazing.

I have generally normal to dry skin. I really love this foundation. It gives great coverage. I normally go for a high medium/light full coverage, but I think you could build it up to pretty opaque. The finish is what I love most about this foundation- it is so smooth looking.

It has a soft matte finish, and it still makes your skin look healthy and plump. (It’s a softer version of the. ) The only thing for me is sometimes, if I’m having more oil around my nose and such, I don’t love how the foundation lays on those areas.

I got a sample quite a while ago in an order but the colours were not right for me. Nevertheless, I liked the texture and coverage so I went to the store to get matched. I have been using the sample all week and have used it with (Kevin Aucoin) primer, without primer and after using sunscreen.

I have tried with a little dab here and there and larger amounts. I have worked out in this on one of the hot days we had. I have certainly put it through its paces. I can say that this foundation stood up to every test and I will be buying the full size.

I took off one star because I found it didn’t blend into my skin as easily as other foundations do from the get go on application and I found it can make my dry forehead look a bit drier unless I really blend it.

This gives a natural to matte finish for me and I actually find that it provides a lot of coverage. I could use one dab for my entire face for an everyday/natural look and this would be fine. I find it is best to use smaller amounts and build gradually.

I would also let it settle a bit into your skin first before adding more coverage as this does seem to take a while to “settle” in and give that natural look. Even though this is described as medium coverage I find that it covers all my blemishes! There are so many colours and undertones I don’t think you can buy this without colour matching but it’s certainly worth a try.

I ditched my Chanel foundation for this one, though it will never replace the Armani foundation.

This foundation has a really liquid lightweight texture feels like a mousse serum, the shade range is great 160 was a good match for me I’m Hourglass shell, Just Skin Alabaster and Hollywood Flawless Filter 1, for reference.

It feels weightless on skin coverage is light but builds up to medium. I did find less is more with this foundation it applies smoother with a lighter layer and wears off quicker the more layers you apply.

My skin is combo with oily t-zone and dry cheeks this foundation is not for dry skin it sticks to any dry patches and highlights any skin texture like pores etc. For my t-zone I need to use a primer as this sits in pores a light layer seems to apply better the more layers I use the more obvious any pores etc appear even with primer.

Even with a hydrating primer I cannot use it on any dry patches it just looks cakey. It needs some blending as I find a brush application can leave obvious strokes, fingers or a blender work best. The finish is a velvet matte with a natural look, it can cover redness from blemishes but still looks natural.

I watched some YouTube reviews looking for a good organic foundation and this got a great review so I was so happy Lyle stocked it. I have normal skin with a tendency for oil in my T in winter and am in my forties.

The reviewer I saw was late 20’s-30 with combination skin. I had never heard of this make before but was blown away when I tried it. It applies evenly, gives a nice healthy glow to my skin, lasts all day and does not give me the usual afternoon T zone shine.

Smells discreet and quite neutral and keeps you moisturised. I love it!.

I really like the Madara brand and this for me is their best product. Finding a foundation that ticks all the boxes is a real chore and can be a very expensive process. I am so glad I have finally found this one, I will not use anything else now.

The texture is light, more like a CC cream in the way it feels on the skin, it doesn’t feel like I am wearing a mask of make up. The colour range is also great, from the lightest to darkest of skin tones, there are so many brands that do not consider all skin tones, so to see a full range by a manufacturer is a great step.

(They use men in their advertising too, which is so refreshing to see, well done Madara!) You only need a small amount for a full coverage and can be built up if you need to without it looking blotchy or feeling like your face is melting.

All in all a fantastic product that lasts well, packaged in a glass bottle that can be recycled. What’s not to love?!.

I have pale dry skin with allergies to parabens and silicones. And this foundation ticks every single one of my boxes. It wears all day long, it lays on dry skin beautifully, the coverage can be light to medium (you can layer well to make it full easily), it has a natural to radiant finish (but can be matte with the right powder).

It’s literally perfection. My only downside of this, is that there should be a much larger color range for inclusivity.
