20 Best Foundation For Acne Scars And Large Pores (2023 Updated)

I don’t typically leave reviews, but with how hard it’s been to find the right products for me, I think it’s important to share when I find something that actually works. I have combo skin so mostly just an oily t-zone.

I’ve been dealing with mild acne for a long time and now that I’ve hit my 20s It’s started getting cystic as well. I needed to find something that doesn’t clog my pores and I’m so glad I decided to go with this foundation.

I’ve only worn it one day and I’m already in love. It’s got a great consistency and the coverage is easily buildable. After several hours it held up its matte and I didn’t get greasy at all. Not to mention it didn’t transfer! I wasn’t too crazy about the smell right off the bat but it went away really quick.

Overall I absolutely love this foundation.

I have oily combination skin that is acne prone and have occasional cystic flare ups. Okay so when I first started using this foundation it was actually making my skin look super good and it covered nicely and I wasn’t breaking out from it.

But I noticed about a week of using it my skin stared peeling and drying out so my skin was literally a lizard at the end of using it and on top of that my skin was even more oily and I was starting to break out.

So I stopped using using I’m thinking it’s probably the salicylic acid that did. If they took that stuff out I’d 100% buy this foundation again because it was nice at first. Although maybe I won’t because I had to used a white mixer to fix how dark the ivory was plus it oxidized quite a bit so it made the color at least 2 shades too dark for me and I’m not super pale but I’m light skinned.

So be warmed shades are poo for pale people and people with a darker complexion.

I have used this and one other foundation as my staples since high school. I have ridiculously finicky skin even to this day, where if I skip this step I’ll wake up with a little break out. I love that it’s super lightweight, provides pretty good coverage, and of course the absolute best part it contains salicylic acid, which helps clear and heal acne blemishes while preventing future breakouts.

That’s truly all I’m asking for and this does an amazing job that I can always rely on.

Seriously my perfect foundation. I get little red spots on my face from blemishes now and then, and when I apply this foundation my skin looks nearly airbrushed. It looks 90% as good at the end of the day than it does immediately after application.

I’m so impressed with it. I purchased in mid-summer 2021, and I’m just about running out. Came to order it again and found it is being discontinued!! Would really love if bareminerals kept this product going.

I purchased thos from the Merle Norman in the Johnson City TN Mall. I was using a heavier version. This is super lightweight. Feels and looks great. Not as buildable.

My favorite foundation! I have combo skin, but more oily in the summer. I love this one because it’s water resistant. I can sweat and it doesn’t budge! I also like wearing it at pool and lake parties because unless I go under the water and rub my face, it stays on!! It’s medium to full coverage, buildable, and has a matte finish.

I put my favorite bronzer on top for a natural looking glow!.

This foundation is the best!!! I used to struggle with acne and tried multiple brands and types. Once I found this I fell in love. It doesn look caked on, it is buildable for great coverage, and it looks flawless all day long.

I used with axne and now I still use it with my clear skin. Anyone who is struggling to find a good foundation should really give it a shot.

Great coverage for older skin, doesn’t go cakey. Has a dewy natural look and lasts until I take it off with a hot cloth cleanser. Have used it in saunas, while swimming, and working out at the gym and occasionally during an afternoon siesta and it stays put.

It doesn’t transfer onto my white sheets. I have an olive skin which tans easily, I use no. 40 during the winter and no. 50 in the summer. I’ve also used a darker shade no. 60 to add colour to my cheeks instead of blushers which can often make my cheeks too flushed.

I’ve been using this foundation for several years with no allergic reactions to my skin.

I didn’t go one shade lighter when I ordered because it was spring and I figured I have the nice stuff for summer, but nope. Even though I ordered the next to lightest, I guess I am very pale, because it looks ridiculous on me.

I gave it a 4 anyway, because I like their other products, such as the brown liner and the Wunderlift cream. Also, from the failed two times of trying to use it, I can say that the coverage is thorough and looks nice, smells nice, feels nice.

just order a color a bit lighter than what you usually might (I guess I’d have to order 👻 “ghost. ” LOL. Oh, I love the travel size mini lipstick and mini eye liners, but the perfect selfie seems a bit useless.

I have other highlighters that do a better job, but the lip liner color is striking and it stays well.

I always try and buy from Wunder2, when there’s no sale to support a worthy business. I love their products and always recommend them to friends. I get compliments when my face is made up with Wunderbrow, foundation, selfie powder and mascara (all chocolate, bronze and black range for darker complexions).

I want to try their concealer because my other brand has almost run out, so a good opportunity for new. Hope this helps!.

I’m now well into my 30’s and have been looking for something like my favorite high school foundation. Yes, I’m Serious! I have fair, combination dry skin, I burn easily, and I use tretinoin and sunscreen everyday, so my skin is already pretty even and clear sans normal hormonal redness around the nose and mouth, but sometimes I can appear “flat” or dull.

With that in mind, I’m a big baby about what I put on my face. I have been looking for a foundation that feels lightweight, doesn’t dry me out, and looks radiant, because my major everyday makeup goal is a great complexion, a nude lip, and a bold lash, but with a touch of that CT romantic glam magic.

I recently moved across the US and packed most of my makeup and skincare, as well as belongings in a moving truck and only took a few staples for the road, so I don’t have a lot to work with in terms of finding the right combination of products.

I set it with the fair CT powder travel size from my travel bag, then mini airbrush finishing spray, and it wears all day like a dream. No creasing, flaking, caking or breakdown. I just look put together! (And I live in DALLAS now!) Yesterday, I returned to Sephora and purchased the full size, as well as the hyaluron kiss in crystal kiss which is also, AMAZING! This is going to be a HG product for me, I know it, and I’m so excited to work hard and rebuild my collection.

If you’re having doubts, TRY IT. I’ve never looked so radiant, and almost ageless (I work with and manage ladies ten years my junior and they’re all shocked I’m “so old. ”). Last night, I joined the loyalty program because I’m now hooked on CT forever.

I was really excited to try this out. This foundation was was very hydrating. I noticed that it made my skin brighter and made my pores less visible. The coverage was medium. This foundation stayed in its place and doesn’t come off until you use makeup remover.

I recieved the Ilia True Skin Serum Foundation in shade SF1 Formentera for free in exchange for my honest review. I was excited to try this reformulated foundation that includes active & clean skincare ingredients that can help refine the look of my skin’s tone and texture while also being nourishing, soothing and calming.

I have normal to dry skin, lots of redness and big pores from my oily years so, it’s difficult to find a foundation with the right balance for my needs. I found this foundation to be a bit finicky at first to apply over my SPF, no matter what the finish of it was it would cause pilling if I tried applying it like a serum with my fingers as instructed.

I’ve had the last 3 weeks to play around with this formula and I have found that it’s important to wait for your last step prior to application to dry or settle and not to rub this foundation in over top of your SPF.

I found this formula applies best for me by pressing it on with a damp, microfiber/velvety textured beauty sponge and clean fingertips. It layers nicely over top of itself so you can easily build up coverage where you need it, the sponge doesn’t lift or make it look splotchy.

Gently pressing over smaller areas with a clean fingertip also works well. The shade match for my fair-light neutral/cool leaning skintone is practically perfect & seamless (which never happens). The finish is comfortable, lightweight and looks natural, giving your skin a healthy and radiant glow from within especially, when applied over their True Skin Radiant Priming Serum.

This foundation feels smooth, almost velvet-like to the touch once it has dried down and is calming & nourishing to my unpredictable, easy-to-flare-up skin. I haven’t experienced any irritation or breakouts nor does it transfer or separate on me.

The longer I wear it the better it looks and feels throughout the day, mixing with my skins natural oils. Though my skin is on the dryer side, I just make sure that I am well moisturized & hydrated before application.

And when used over top of their priming serum, this foundation will last all day on me without caking or creasing or any need for touch ups. It wears comfortably & looks great both with and without powder.

This lightweight, light-medium coverage, silky serum foundation effortlessly covers & reduces my cheeks redness, softens my fine lines & blurs out my large pores, evens out my skins tone & texture all while letting my natural skin show through.

My skin still looks like my skin just better. This would be 5 stars if it weren’t so finicky over SPF or if it had the SPF included in the formula however, it’s easily remedied & worth the results. I definitely reccomend giving this a try if you’re looking for a skincare lovers dream foundation that’s going to make your skin look and feel better while still looking like your skin.

(I received a sample of the a Ilia from Ilia True Skin Serum Foundation but was not required to write this review. ) So. I’m obsessed with this tinted serum. Truly – I’m in love. It’s currently my favorite variation of foundation and might just turn out to be a long-term holy grail.

It goes on so wonderfully and, really, you can’t mess it up – it starts as light coverage (as all tinted serums) but can easily be built up to light-medium/close to medium coverage without it feeling heavy or cakey at all.

I’ve also found that it applies wonderfully with a brush and even your fingers; a beauty blender can work just fine, but you’ll need a bit more product that way because it’s a serum and is fairly easily soaked up.

(I found that I most preferred to apply with a brush or my fingers and then “finish” with a quick pounce of the sponge. ) I found it to have a satin-y finish – certainly not matte, but also not overly luminous to the point of looking greasy.

it is a really nice balance that gives off a great, very soft natural “glow”. It wears beautifully as well. (I will say i start getting a bit of breakdown in about 5-8 hours depending on weather, activity, etc, which usually works just fine for me; it may last longer on less drastically oily skin.

) And really does feel quite like a second skin. I genuinely can’t recommend this foundation enough – it’s def my current obsession! (In fact, I honestly suggest this whole True Skin line from Ilia, it’s fantastic.

I was gifted a full size of this lovely Ilia True Skin Medium Coverage Serum Foundation with Niacinamide in exchange for my honest review. Admittedly, I am not typically a fan of liquid foundations as I seem to struggle getting the coverage I want and it often oxidizes and looks a completely different color on my skin within hours after application.

Thankfully I haven’t had those issues with this foundation. I was skeptical since it’s a serum foundation, and wasn’t sure if I’d be able to truly get medium or full coverage from this product, but it’s completely buildable and I’ve been quite pleased with the results with laying two thin applications to give me more coverage.

And despite having to use more than one layer of product, it didn’t look cakey or feel heavy at all whatsoever, which was impressive as well. The product itself is packaging beautifully, has a nice consistency and blends wonderfully onto the skin whether using a sponge or a brush.

I did have to work a little more with the brush to get it exactly how I like, but that’s not uncommon especially for a liquid foundation. The shade I received was slightly too dark for me, but not too much to were I couldn’t make it work.

I’ve liked all three of the Ilia products I’ve tried and am excited to try more of their line in the future. I love how lightweight it feels on the skin and think it’s a great option for anyone looking for a medium coverage more dewy kind of foundation look.

I have been faithful (minus a few stray product tries here and there) of clinique powder compacts for years. I’ve been on the mild side of combination skin for years. My skin has been my prize with not a lot of fuss needed.

Then I got off the pill (to try for our first baby) and my skin went crazy. Oily skin that I had never had before! What seems like overnight, none of my current products can combat this new oily skin of mine.

After a frustration purchase at the drug store, I took myself to the lovely ladies at the counter for help. After re adjusting my skin care and sending me off with new moisturizer samples, I was sent home with this new compact.

I don’t really have an acne problem but this makeup really helps with the oiliness, I am pleased with the finish. Here is the downside. I’m a fair skinned, typically second to lightest shade gal, and the lightest shade in this makeup is dark and oddly rosy.

This make me sad because the product is wonderful. Clinique please take a look at these light shades again, many have posted with the same concerns, and its TRUE!.

This is the first Clinique makeup products i ever used, used their skin care line as a teenager and never thought anything of their makeup line. When i found this foundation, I was looking for something that made my face glow in natural way with out any highlighters, something that didnt make my face look cakey, with good decent coverage and some light SPF.

Well the result? I got everything I was looking for in this tiny bottle. I glowed without looking shiny and sun protection SPF 15, light to medium coverage. Watery formula but goes on so smooth and blend able.

and the color match is right on the dot.

I brought this foundation about 12 months ago, so testing for a while to make sure I liked before I wrote a review. I am 38 and wear it 5 days a week. I have normal to dry skin type with redness across my t-zone and nose.

This does a great job at smoothing and blurring any redness on my face and it does not dry my skin out. It has a medium coverage and works best on me applied with fingers. What I like best is the smooth consistency and non heavy feel.

I had wearing foundation’s in the past and it feels like your wearing a mask. This does not have that heavy feeling, it’s smooth and light on the skin. I do think I need a lighter shade next time, just to ensure it does have that oxidisation effect which is does slightly but nothing that a bit of concealer does help to dull down.

I am going to be purchasing this again in another two colours just to mix and get the exact right shade. I love the dewy look it gives and I rarely powder, simply because it drys down matte so powder isn’t overly needed with this foundation.

Maybelline Fit Me line has been around for quite some time now. I have owned the Dewy version and the Matte version of this foundation. They are both pretty good foundations. Especially for the price point! The coverage of this foundation is medium to full coverage as it layers very well without causing noticeable or patchy areas.

The matte part of it works for sure especially if you have naturally oily skin. Wear time is excellent. I always wear a setting powder and setting spray as well with it as I would any liquid foundation.

No oxidation seems to really happen over time, which is always a plus. The shade range is great for being a cheap drugstore beauty item! Packaging is fine except for the fact that they have still not added a pump to it.

You just pour it out onto your hand, brush, or sponge, which can be messy and/or waste product. Overall, the Maybelline Fit me foundations deserve a 4 out of 5! Thanks for reading my review! My reviews are 100% honest as always!.

I am in love with this product. I love the matte+poreless liquid foundation as well, and I got this in the same shade (classic ivory). I should note, it is a tiny bit lighter in color than the liquid (which for me was fine).

I would say it’s light/medium coverage, but buildable. I was looking for a powder foundation bc summer in my hometown is sweltering, and I have oily skin. This product is incredible! I absolutely love it.

I wish like anything that it was around when I was a teen. It’s very easy to use, so very beginner friendly, but also extremely effective. I use it with some concealer and it looks great. The applicator is great, although I do recommend going over it with a big brush just to make sure it’s all smoothed out.

And btw, it’s great for oil control. I know powder foundation may not be for everyone, but for me it’s a breeze to apply and feels light as air. Truly incredible product!.

I was recommended this product after inquiring about the body and leg foundation. I have tattoos on my arm, legs, foot and finger. The body foundation wasn’t thick enough when the sales associate tested it on my tattoos.

And when I used it myself it didn’t actually cover any of my black lines, just the color. I spend nearly $200 on this foundation primer and setting powder just to cover my tattoos for work. Social media raves about it as a cover up for tattoos so I felt really confident in my purchase but it doesn’t cover the way I needed it to and I wish someone had mentioned that before I purchased it.

I don’t wear foundation on my face so it was a waste of money for me. I wouldn’t recommend for covering tattoos. And it was also really cakey when I used everything together.

The cover creme is advertised as a full coverage makeup specifically to hide things. I’ve purchased over 6 shades, along with putty primer and setting powder. It was recommended to purchase different shades so they can be mixed, because apparently it’s really hard to get a good shade match with this brand.

A lot of the shades are extremely orange, and are wayyy too dark or too light. Even with the primer and setting powder, this makeup slides off and starts creasing immediately. It also is not transfer resistant as is claimed, it will rub off on everything asap.

I purchased off their website that comes with a “shade match guarantee”, after reaching out to them to tell them that the colors were incorrect, they took about a month to reach out to me and it wasn’t even a person, it was an automated message.

I recently purchased Dermablend Smooth Liquid Camo Foundation Natural 25N. My skin tone is a light-medium cool tone with a lot of pink so I chose a neutral color (there are not many cool choices in my tone).

The Natural 25N had a lot of yellow for a neutral color choice. It really seems more warm toned than a neutral. It is also quite drying to my skin. It seems to accentuate my creases and wrinkles. I may try a different foundation next time that offers more moisture.

This foundation covers very well. It covered the redness in my cheeks completely. I also liked the SPF 25 in this foundation.

Okay so I bought this to replace the discontinued Rainforest of the Sea foundation (RIP) that I used every single day. I have dry skin and prefer a foundation that feels light and has buildable coverage if I need it.

I figured this would be a decent replacement since it’s another Tarte medium coverage foundation for dry skin. It’s not quite that. This foundation seems to have more coverage than RotS so a little goes a long way.

There is more of a dewy finish (which I like), but the cons are definitely the packaging and how transferable this seems to be. I loved the RotS packaging cause it could easily get as much as I needed and not waste product.

This pump packaging is more wasteful and a pain to use. And so far I’ve noticed that it doesn’t dry fully on my face. I touch my face a lot, so it’s really noticeable to me. Overall I think it’s a decent foundation but it’s not the perfect replacement for Rainforest of the Sea fans sadly.

I’ve had this sitting in rotation with a couple of other foundations that I like. I have the Armani Luminous Silk, Make Up Forever Reboot, and the Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation that all kind of serve the same purpose for me.

I have dry skin for the most part and I don’t require too much coverage. I don’t like heavy feeling makeup. I live in a pretty dry climate in Southern California so I don’t have an issue with humidity and foundations battling the elements.

If you enjoy any of the other foundations I’ve listed I think you’d enjoy this one. It actually has more coverage than the Make Up Forever and Koh Gen Do. A little goes a long way. Also, as a dry skin hack I still always add just a drop of Josie Maran’s Argan oil to most of my foundations for added hydration and sheerness when applying.

Give it a try I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

This is the best foundation out there if you’re looking for a medium coverage. I was looking for something that wasn’t cakey, thick, or matte but still provided decent coverage. I was told for years that it was impossible to find a good coverage but not cakey or matte foundation.

I wanted something that could help me get a dewy finish, even out skin tone and stay on all day and this is it! I ran out this last month and had to buy a cheaper (but not cheap) foundation until I could get more and oh boy!!! I saw such a huge difference in my skin even after I took my makeup off (not good).

I was able to see the difference foundcealer makes with helping my skin while I wear it! People noticed a difference in my skin with and without makeup on while I went a few weeks without foundcealer.

I get compliments on my skin with and without makeup normally. I am big on skin care but I’ve noticed foundcealer played a part in my skincare for sure when I wasn’t able to use it.

I initially bought this in 4N a few months ago, and it was too light so I didn’t use it. I decided to pick up 2 more shades during the Sephora sale: 11. 5P and 10N. I didn’t open 10N, but I can say 11.

5P is slightly darker than Fenty 120 yet it worked out really well for me. Unfortunately, the shade match is the only good thing I can say about this formula. I don’t know why, but this foundation hates my skin and refused to blend into it.

I tried this formula with and without primer, and tried different primers (Tacha silk canvas, NYX marshmallow, Milani No-Pore Zone, Milk Hydrogrip) but this doesn’t look good on my skin. It refused to melt into my skin, regardless of whether I used a brush or sponge.

Even my favorite foundation brush left it looking like a weird mask sitting on my skin that would move around and get patchy. It sunk into my pores and clung to texture I didn’t know I had, but would slide off of other surfaces.

It immediately creased and settled into fine lines. This doesn’t happen with any other foundation I have tried, and I couldn’t make it look good. My skincare was the same as always, and I waited about an hour after doing so to apply my foundation.

I even tried blotting off any excess product before applying primer and foundation, but it was still awful. The best it ever looked was the last time I used it, because I tried to blot it down before setting it with my normal Huda powder.

Most of the foundation lifted with the blotting paper, except for the weird bits that wanted to stick to my pores and surprise texture. I have extremely oily skin, and it’s pretty common for me to have a foundation with a radiant or dewy finish crease or break apart within 2 hours.

Not this foundation, I couldn’t even finish my makeup! I had high hopes because I’ve seen and read reviews that say this foundation works even for oily skin types. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t like my face.

I have never been so unsatisfied with a product to come back and write a 1 star review, but here we are. I loved their old formula- it was the perfect coverage, the shade blended perfectly into my skin tone.

I don’t wear a full face of foundation often, especially now that hospital workers are wearing masks daily as part of their required uniform. But since buying this foundation and letting the worker color match me – I get angry and disappointed every time I put this foundation on.

It ruins my getting-ready process on my most important days. Of course, the “closest matching color” makes my skin look very orange in the sun light. The foundation feels heavy like it would provide a good amount of coverage, but in actuality does a very poor job.

I have to use a second foundation every time to balance the shade and match my face. I’d have returned it if I didn’t go also a couple months between buying the foundation and actually getting to wear it.

I’m just angry at this point and tired of putting on a full face of foundation in hopes of it magically working out for me each time, just to scrub it all off minutes later. I also hate that it keeps a wet feeling, even if I put a translucent powder on top of it.

It makes my face feel gross, and I always end up going without foundation.

I am trying Sephora’s Best Skin Ever Liquid Foundation (11. 5 P) for the first time. I had been using Even Better Glow Light Reflecting Makeup Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 by Clinique for quite a few years (and they are discontinuing it) and was looking for a replacement product.

I have fair/light skin with lots of dark spots and sun damage. I don’t wear a lot of makeup or products and mostly enjoy tinted moisturizers. That being said, I decided to try this foundation based on the many positive reviews! I give this foundation four stars (one star off as I don’t love it) for the range of colors that could match my skin tone/issues.

It wears very light and I like that and is medium coverage which I preffer. I normally can get away with moisturizing prior to foundation products but with this foundation I discovered it’s not good over top a moisturizer so I tried without moisturizer and it stayed on much better (without marks or uneven blending).

I have sensitive combination skin (drier with age) and sometimes break out. I had a few blemishes and this covered it well without the need for a lot of concealer. I will probably buy it again. We will see.

I don’t usually like matte foundations because my dry skin just gets drier when using them but this foundation feels so natural on. It contains spf 20 which is below the minimum dermatologist recommended amount of 30 so you’ll still need to use a sunscreen underneath.

It’s a full coverage formula but it doesn’t make my face look cakey. It blends out super easily and wears all day. You WILL need a good makeup remover to get this stuff off. I’d recommend this foundation for those with oily to normal skin.

Dry ladies and gents will need to layer a good moisturizer underneath.

Wow goodbye pores! I was really pleasantly surprised with how this foundation gave my skin almost like a filter finish. It was the perfect combination of matte, but not chalky, while still giving my skin a subtle glow.

I typically use GA luminous silk for foundation and i think i may like this one better! It definitely is more of a medium to full coverage foundation, rather than the luminous silk which i think needs a little bit more building for a full face of makeup.

A little goes spot of this foundation goes a long way, so it will definitely last a lot longer than luminous silk. As far as staying power, I had this foundation on all night and looked great by the end of the night.

Typically my face runs on the oily side the longer i have makeup on. Usually I will need to powder, blot after wearing Luminous silk for a few hours. But i didn’t find myself needing any touchups throughout the night! I also really like the ingredients of this product.

As someone that has struggled with clogged pores and acne, it makes me feel good that having a full face of makeup on is not going to wreck my acne prone skin. And there is nothing bad about a little anti-aging, am I right?! Overall, I think this foundation is a winner.

I have fair skin with neutral undertones and i mixed shades 140 and 190. It matched perfectly, honestly looked like i was wearing a filter. Will definitely continue purchasing.

Honestly this is one of those foundations that sometimes looks stunning and sometimes I just can’t get it to melt into the skin. A lot of times it feels like I really have to work this foundation into the skin and then blend it in even more with a beauty blender and sometimes it just sits on the skin and doesn’t really mesh.

On days where I’m a bit more dry, I feel like this can accentuate texture and it also sometimes can separate and kind of pill on itself if I mess around with it too much. I’ve tried using this with a combination of products (different primers, moisturizers, setting powders) and I just never can predict what my make up is gonna look like.

I also feel like it kind of dries out through out the day sometimes. I love the shade range though it is amazing to be able to have a great match for my light medium olive skin tone. I have dry combo skin and have some acne.

Honestly if you’re oily I imagine your skin would eat this foundation alive because it has a serum like texture and it does break down easier than other foundations I have. I wear this mostly when I don’t need a crazy long wearing foundation and I’m gonna take it off in a few hours.

I don’t know if this is a repurchase I love kosas products but I’m still unsure about this.
