Best Foods Vegan Mayo Review (2024 Updated)

I have been using Chosen Foods Avocado Mayonnaise for over a year. It is the ONLY mayonnaise I will eat. I must say Natura Market has the best price for this superb product. Avocados are so healthy for you and one of my most favourite foods.

I love the clean, healthy, no chemicals added ingredients in Chosen Foods Avocado Mayonnaise. I will NEVER eat anything made with Canola, Soy, Sunflower or almost any other oil (other than Olive Oil) in it.

Chosen Foods Avocado Mayonnaise is creamy, tangy and delicious with a full bodied mayonnaise taste that I could eat by the spoonful. I have tried to make my own Avocado oil mayonnaise with not so great success.

Natura Market’s packaging is superb. Bottled products are wrapped extremely secure to ensure no breakage. Delivery is great considering all the delays due to these crazy times. I’m a very happy customer.

I have ‘chosen’ this mayo brand over all others carried by Vitacost (my favorite go-to whole foods online shop of choice!) only because it carries the least sodium content than do the other brands. Unfortunately, the amount here is still too much salt to our liking in this family ~ I find none of the American brands of plain mayonnaise, including this one, actually has enough flavor, beyond a salty taste.

A touch more sweetness in exchange for the sodium would be welcome. (The best mayonnaise in the world is Kite Wholefoods Mayonnaise, available in the UK. If Vitacost could import this, as they do other UK brands, I think it would be a tremendous hit.

Let me preface this review by saying that I am NOT a mayo lover. But I also don’t like to eat my chicken salad, tuna salad or egg salad naked; it’s dry and little bits and pieces falls all over the place.

Hence the need for something to stick it all together. Most of the time, I try to make my own mayo at home using organic Chosen Foods avocado oil, but when I don’t have time, I want a jar of something in my fridge or pantry that will do the job.

This Chosen Foods product is it. it has a neutral taste that doesn’t compete with the star of the meal, all of the ingredients are either organic or non-GMO, it has a very hefty (thick) consistency so you can actualy use less, it uses only avocado oil (not a mish-mash of multiple oils), and it’s zero carb.

It comes in 2 sizes, but I only use the smaller jar.

I have gone mostly plant-based/vegan as a personal choice and trying to replace your comfort foods can be a nightmare. Some plant-based and vegan options are delicious and basically the same product.

Others can be so gross; finding the right ones is a learning curve. One thing that I have found is that most dairy products are easily replaced with vegan choices. There are a ton of options. Nuts have replaced milk in most cases, and I love all my new options.

Some cheese can be VERY gross. It’s definitely what I have struggled with the most, but I have found some good options. Being a sandwich person, having mayo in the house is super important. I need my potato salad! This vegan mayo is terrific.

The same consistency and taste as you would have with regular mayo. It’s perfect in salads, sandwiches, and the like. Hellman’s is, in my opinion, the go-to brand so I was not surprised that this product measured up as well as it did.

The one thing to note with most plant-based or vegan products is their shelf-life. Generally, they are shorter than the preservatives in their counterparts and are usually non-existent. I have been known to let my vegan cream cheese turn expecting it to be good for months rather than weeks.

This mayo does have a pretty hearty shelf-life however. I am so glad it’s so much easier to find vegan options now. It used to be impossible. This is a great substitution if you are looking to change your diet or just want a healthier option.

Hellmann’s Vegan Dressing & Spread Jar is great for anyone who is allergic to eggs as well as for anyone following a Vegan diet. It works and can be used just like regular mayonnaise. We use it for chicken salad, tuna salad and for sandwiches.

It does taste a bit different but it is good. Perfect for the whole family. My son is happy because before the Vegan Hellmanns’s he couldn’t use mayonnaise at all due to his egg allergy. The Hellmann’s Vegan Dressing & Spread Jar has been a staple in our gluten free home for a few years now.

I also like that they use sunflower oil instead of soy oil and the rest of the ingredients aren’t to bad either.

This is perhaps my new favorite condiment to spread on sandwiches, salads, pizza, and burgers!. This mayo is free from eggs and gluten, and is plant-based and vegan-friendly. The taste is well-balanced with all of the rich flavor that I would expect from regular egg-based mayo.

The texture is creamy and smooth, which is ideal for all of the foods that I love. The dressing makes it convenient to add extra flavor and flair to any dish! I like how this may is made from simple and natural ingredients while cutting out harmful preservatives and artificial flavors.

This product certainly exceeded my expectation for a vegan mayo, and I continue to be a big fan of the product I totally recommend this mayo to others!.

i bought this because it is one of the very few mayo brands without soybean oil. I have used sunflower oil multiple times in the past and don’t mind the light flavor. The taste of this product however was awful! No matter what I added to it or used it on or with, the flavor was just off and left a bad lingering after taste in the mouth.

And no it was not expired. The taste reminded me of fryer grease that had been sitting around for a few weeks. Unfortunately I had to throw it out because no one else would use it either. Very disappointed.

this is a product which is heading in the right direction. first, everyone in the family does not have to stick their licked utensils into a bottle. second, the container ejects a small amount which can be placed directly on the spot where the mayo is desired.

the only issue is learning how much pressure to use to squeeze the bottle to eject the right amount. you can add a little water to the bottle and shake up well to change the viscosity, but use only very little (one or 2 teaspoon fulls as mayonnaise easily becomes soft with very little water added.

Hands down the BEST mayonnaise on the market. It takes some getting used to because the taste is different than all of the other mayonnaises out there but once you get used to it, you’ll never go back.

I should warn that it’s a tad bit tangy and you definitely taste the sunflower oil but you’ll feel so much better after eating this kind of mayonnaise. The ingredients are clean and natural and it’s light on the stomach.

I absolutely love and highly recommend this to everyone.

Obsessed with veganaise! I’ve been vegan for 7 years and veganaise is a staple in my home. I personally make my own dressings and dips with veganaise and it is truly the best. I’ve tried other vegan mayos and they just don’t even hold a candle to veganaise.

Veganaise can be a bit more pricey than the other vegan mayo options, but if you can catch it on sale it’s a great deal! Recently bought some on BOGO at Publix!.

The Follow Your Heart brand makes some of my favorite vegan mayonnaise. Out of all of their varieties of vegan mayonnaise though, the grapeseed oil one is by far my absolute favorite. It has such a rich and distinctive taste to it.

I love using it to make vegan egg salad sandwiches, and as a condiment on my cucumber sandwiches. When I say that the Follow Your Heart grapeseed oil vegan mayo is by far the best vegan mayonnaise on the market, I really mean it.

Seriously. I’ve been having only vegan mayo for over 20 years and nothing else compares to this stuff. I just wish that I could find it at more grocery stores, instead of having to hunt it down at health food stores.

Super delicious! I started using these because when I first met my husband about 7 years ago he was vegan. We would use this as a substitute and I really enjoyed the taste and texture! He’s began to incorporate animal based products into his diet within the last year and we still use this instead of regular mayonnaise! It is very flavorful without being to heavy.

Also, the texture is a bit smoother. To be fair, was never a big mayonnaise person to begin with, which might explain why I love this product!.

I enjoy mayonnaise but I’m certainly not a connoisseur of mayonnaise. I use mayonnaise mostly on burgers with other condiments. I usually use it with a lot of other ingredients and it’s intended as more of an accessory flavor than a star ingredient.

For this product sample I tried the product alone first to get a feel for the taste by itself. Not a practice I would normally do with mayonnaise but I wanted to be able to speak to the flavor and texture without all the other factors.

The texture feels very much like other mayonnaise that I have tried. The egg flavor is pronounced where I think others I’ve had might be a little more subtle. The good thing is it has a super clean and simple ingredient deck, so the egg flavor being prominent makes sense but when tasted by itself was a bit strong for me, which was fine because I don’t eat it that way.

It also seemed slightly saltier. When I compared against the last other mayonnaise I purchased I did find it has a slightly higher sodium level. So that’s my take on the product by itself for anyone who is really into mayonnaise as a solo condiment or if you make chicken/tuna salad or something where the mayonnaise flavor may be the dominant flavor in your recipe and would want to know those nuances.

BUT my predominant use of mayonnaise is on burgers accompanied by mustard, ketchup, and/or sometimes BBQ sauce, plus lettuce, tomatoes, onion, pickle, etc. all of that to exemplify how many other flavors coexist.

That being said, I used it as I would normally on a veggie burger with mustard, a little ketchup, and the veggies and found this mayonnaise to be good. It didn’t stand out like “wow, I can really tell the mayonnaise in this is good” but it also didn’t stand out as “wow, the mayonnaise in this is really off” either.

I thoroughly enjoyed it as a part of my burger and felt really good knowing that it was non-GMO, contained organic ingredients, soy & canola free, the eggs were cage free (though when I purchase eggs I actually look for organic and pasture-raised as the ideal), and it wasn’t loaded with a bunch of other crap.

I have considered moving to vegan mayonnaise so I’m not sure for me this is one I’d buy again for that reason mostly but I’d probably recommend it to friends looking for a better version of egg- based mayonnaise and tell them those flavor details.

Personally I’m interested in trying the vegan Primal Kitchen mayonnaise.

As far as mayo goes, 5/5 stars! Let me start by saying that I’m only just beginning to give mayo a chance after 30 years of avoiding the stuff. Don’t get me wrong: I enjoy aiolis, salad dressings, and all things mayo-based, I just have never liked a spread of mayo clogging up an otherwise flavourful and delicious sandwich! It has just seemed like unnecessary calories.

However, as meatless proteins have become more popular, so have my sandwich options as a vegetarian of 20+ years, resulting in the need to expand my condiment selection. Enter mayonnaise! My partner – a Frenchman – is a fan, and so mayo has started making its way onto our sandwiches, although we always seek out more natural options such as olive-oil based, organic, etc.

Primal Kitchen has been a go-to brand for us for products like their buffalo sauce, so we jumped at the chance to try a sample of one of their mayos! The garlic aioli made with avocado oil seemed like the perfect option for a mayo-hesitant foodie like me.

So far, we’ve tried it on a sandwich where it was tasty but very potent and as an ingredient in a lemon-caper dill cream sauce poured over faux-chicken cutlets with kale. In both applications, it was quite good! I like avocado so it would be fine either way, but it’s safe to say this doesn’t really have an avocado taste.

It is just like regular mayo! The garlic aioli, however, adds a nice, rich flavour that distinguishes it from other options and gives a sandwich more flair than just added fat. It may be the first time I’ve ever found a product to be a hair too garlic-forward, if anything; however, that just means only a thin layer is needed to add some zest to our sandwiches so the jar will last longer! In the cooked dish, this mayo gave a nice thickness to my cream sauce and made the veggie “chicken” moist and tender.

In short, Primal Kitchen remains a staple in our pantry and will definitely be a contender for our regular mayo going forward.

I was well into adulthood and had spent many years in the South before I finally succumbed to the simple pleasure that is a tomato sandwich. Five easy pieces: tomato, salt, pepper, bread – and mayo. While I can spend several minutes digging through the produce bin looking for the best tomato, I am the opposite when it comes to mayonnaise.

I choose no side in the Hellmann’s vs. Duke’s war. Hell, I don’t remember actually ever having it, but I’m sure Miracle Whip is fine, too. Thus, I was excited to get a chance to sample Primal Kitchen mayo.

It’s made without sugar, soy or canola and with avocado oil and cage-free eggs, so it checks some important boxes for some folks. I was curious what it would taste like. I picked up the “plain” mayo (they have flavors that I’m sure are good but I wanted the most basic mayo experience possible.

I also bought a large, vine-ripened tomato. At home a loaf of buttermilk white bread awaited. I opened the jar when I got home and it looked like mayo. It smelled like mayo. When I spread it on the bread, it spread more like Duke’s than Hellmann’s (there IS a difference).

When I tasted it, it also tasted more like Duke’s than Hellmann’s. I don’t want to get to deep in the connoisseur weeds, but the only particularly unusual thing I experienced was a slight veggie flavor at the start that immediately gives way to the regular, mayo flavor.

I don’t eat a lot of avocados, so maybe it was that. I mentioned it to someone and they said I might be tasting the organic vinegar. The next day, I made a turkey sandwich (turkey, swiss, tomato, mayo, sub roll).

That extra, unplaceable flavor in the mayo actually worked really well on the sandwich, giving it a little boost. In conclusion, If you have some particular ingredient priorities, Primal Kitchen mayo will deliver pretty much exactly what you want in a mayo, without some of the things you may not want.

I usually love this brand. But this mayo is DISGUSTING. It taste like fish!! At first I exchanged it because I thought maybe it was exposed to heat and turning rancid. Nope. It’s just this mayo. Truly unpalatable.

The texture is good, but that is the *only* good thing. DO NOT BUY.

This was an interesting side-by-side taste test. Comparing labels, this product had more Fat, more Saturated Fat, and more Salt for equal calories than my usual brand. I could see that the oil, vinegar and mustard oil would dominate the flavor profile.

My first reaction on opening it was that this Mayo was too gummy and thick like gelatin or flan vs creamy and smooth and easily spoonable. I tried to whip it a bit in the jar with my spoon, but that didn’t help much.

There are many vegan thickening options; I think this needs to be revisited. The initial taste was one of capers in brine. This has its place, as I love bitter and briny, but it was unexpectedly pungent with the ACV.

As an accomplished cook, I do not necessarily want Vinegar to dominate my Mayo because that limits the uses instead of being a neutral dressing that offers more versatility for me to flavor with the specific vinegar and other seasonings and spices as I wish for my dish.

The appearance spread on my sourdough toast was oilier, which wasn’t as appealing. Though politically questionable these days, avocado is a preferred fat vs other options. Personally, I’d add lemon juice for a more well-rounded taste.

I could see someone else grabbing this for a quick tuna sandwich or potato salad if they had limited time or talent in the kitchen, or slathering it on salmon before baking (yes, some other folks really do that), or using as a base for aioli.

This is best fit someone who has more money than time and talent. For me, this product is 3. 5 times more expensive per ounce than what I use. Even if it were the same price, there is not enough appeal for me to buy it.

Primal Kitchen is one of those brands that appears to be one that has popped up on the market offering products that leave out the ingredients those other brands leave in. At first glance, the price point for their products is enough to have you glance at it, perhaps pick it up to learn a bit about the brand and it’s ingredients, but ultimately find it difficult to justify spending that $11 on a jar of mayonnaise.

Especially in COVID times. That being said, with the help of Social Nature‘s inspirational #TryNatural Movement, I was able to try their vegan mayonnaise. This was a product I can definitely say I was skeptical about because I had to wonder what would be the substitute for the main ingredient that goes into mayonnaise and how they were gonna be able to pull that off and still make it taste good.

Hats off to the manufactures over at Primal Kitchen because they created something that is truly different from the rest and gives those that no longer choose to eat vegan products a chance to enjoy a mayonnaise it taste similar to the old product that might have enjoyed in the past.

I found myself using it on sandwiches and at one point even making my own secret dipping sauce for my french fries with ketchup and this mayonnaise which was phenomenal. All in all I highly recommend this brand and this specific product and must make you aware that the reason it does not get five stars is because of the price point in the price point alone because I think that it’s quite a high price to pay for mayonnaise that just happens to be vegan.

That kind of plays into the whole thing being counter productive to helping rid the world of animal based products because people aren’t going to want to become vegan if they have to pay $11 for a condiment.

Anyone who uses traditional mayonnaise but wants a healthier alternative with all the taste, should definitely give this a try. Who needs those partially hydrogenated trans fats anyway? Your heart deserves the best — THIS! Hellmann’s should be congratulated for originating this amazing product.

Even if you haven’t tried regular mayonnaise, you would get a flavor kick out of this. And it comes in a useful jar that you can use for catching those summer bugs — like fireflies — once you finish it.

So take it on your next picnic and see what a delightful party you can have — your best summer is waiting out there!!.

I have high cholesterol, so when I saw Hellmann’s made a Vegan Mayonnaise, I decided I should give it a try. I bought one jar in the supermarket, deciding I’d just throw it out if it was disgusting. I’m happy to report, however, that not only is it delicious, but it actually tastes exactly like regular mayonnaise! And trust me, I have tried several different low-fat and other vegan mayonnaise brands and versions all to horrible results.

This one though? I was blown away, and have since ordered 6 jars at a time two different times from Walmart! Their price on here is fair and their delivery system very easy and dependable. I do need to report that on my first delivery, one of the six jars seemed off inside, as if the ingredients had turned, so I threw it out.

Was disappointed with that for sure. But since the other five I ordered were exactly what I needed for sandwiches and to make a delicious creamy vegan ranch dressing recipe I found online, I didn’t report the issue at the time, and the next six jars I ordered all look okay.

This is why I’m adding this review with one less star.

This is the absolute best MAYO of all time! It’s rich but not too rich. VERY tasty. A bit sweet. Not bitter. I recommend this SO highly! So far I love every product made by Follow Your Heart Brand but this Vegan Mayo.

Follow your Heart will always have my heart. This brand is super delicious and all they’re products I have used before are actually really good (cream cheese and this mayo). You cannot tell the difference between regular mayo and this one.

If you get this, you will not regret it.

What a nice alternative to Mayo being gluten free and vegan. I really can’t tell the difference from what I ate growing up and this brand. I’ve been a customer for many years now and it tastes great on sandwiches and in pasta salads or chicken salads.

I will continue to purchase and it also comes in Soy free is you have sensitivity or issues with soy 👍🏽.

The vegan mayonnaise tastes okay, so it serves its purpose as a vegan alternative to traditional mayonnaise, but when I read the ingredients list online to see what was in it, I wasn’t very impressed because you haven’t put in any ingredients that stand out as special.

In other words, the traditional recipe contains egg yolk which is the nice feature ingredient plus whatever fats and fillers you need to make the mayonnaise, but the vegan recipe is just the same fats and fillers minus the nice egg yolk ingredient.

So where’s the substitute nice ingredient? Could you not have replaced the yolk with something equally special such as avocado fat? Or maybe put coconut oil as one of the fats? At least one of those could be classed as a slightly more premium ingredient.

Because at the moment, as the ingredients stand, customers who buy the vegan mayo are missing out on any premium or feature ingredient, whereas the customers buying the traditional mayo are still getting their feature yolk ingredient.

That seems like short-changing the vegan customers to me.

I have a dairy intolerance and, after having original mayonnaise on tuna etc for years I found that I was sadly unable to. This Vegan mayonnaise is a game changer. It’s thick and creamy and tastes EXACTLY like really good quality original mayonnaise.

I absolutely love it. I’ve also tried the garlic version and that’s just as good. I don’t buy any other now so all the family use this one. One tip is make sure you buy the jar version and not the squeezy bottle as it’s so thick you end up with loads left over on the insides of the bottle.

With a jar it’s much easier and cleaner.

I received two generous 30g sample sachets of this vegan mayonnaise, not something I’ve tried before, and to be honest is not something I’d even think of trying. But I was pleasantly surprised. It was a nice thick consistency that you’d expect from a mayo and tasted no different! If I didn’t know it was vegan I’d never have guessed.

I used mine as a dip for chips and in a salad sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed both. I’m not a vegan or vegetarian but small changes like this I can happily live with. It’s also gluten free and available with other added flavours.

I was hesitant to try this at first, but I’m glad I took the plunge. It tastes great with veggie Maki rolls and pretty much anything you wanna add some zing to. This is something I want in my pantry at all times.

Very Nice! Clean flavor!! PERFECT on a Rubin with (Swiss). Be sure never to substitute for swiss or it’s not a true RUBIN sandwich. I also use it instead of regular mayo, no ketchup, on a cheeseburger.

I heard about this vegan mayo and ordered it, but the jar was not sealed and the product had a depression in it. I informed Vitacost and they graciously and quickly sent me a sealed jar. and it’s delicious!.

This mayo is made with a GMO and that is in very tiny print on the label but is not revealed anywhere in the label info on the Target site product description. Even enlarging the product photos makes it extremely hard to see this light and tiny print on the label.

Shoppers who are vision impaired would not be able to see it at all. And so if it is important to you, as it is to me, be warned that this does contain a GMO.

If your going to claim a product made with olive oil then use only olive oil!! If you claim canola oil then use canola oil. I really wish you’d stop using soy in all your products! Not everyone can eat soy! It doesn’t taste that good, goes rancid quickly and stinks.

I’d continue buying Best Foods if it made Mayonnaise without soy in it!.

Of course I’m reviewing mayonnaise! I don’t feel gross after eating this. I’ll rephrase; I don’t feel as gross as I would eating regular mayo or other brands. Depending on what I’m making it’s creamier and or blends better with a lower melting point when cooking.

Sir Kensington’s Vegan Mayo has a velvety texture, is aesthetically pleasing as well as possessing a consistency similar to Cain’s Mayonnaise. The flavor is slightly more tangy than Cain’s but the quality is superb.

Customers will not miss the eggs and cholesterol. This is an excellent product.

I’m such a picky vegan eater when it comes to new vegan products. If anything tastes slightly ‘weird’, it’ll put me off. This product tastes great and is a fantastic replicate of any other mayo, just without the cruelty.

The flavour is identical, consistency is identical, really good buy.

Very tasty. A little thicker and creamier than Hellmann’s vegan mayo and just as good. My only criticism is that I’ve struggled to get every last bit out of the bottle, and have had to resort to cutting it in half so I can get my money’s worth!.

It looks like brilliant white emulsion which is unappetising. Flavour is next to non existent. The bottle is also totally impractical and impossible to get the sauce out.

Best Foods mayo used to be great texture, flavor for making potato salad. The mayo used to actually “stick” on to the potato, coating every bit of the potato with a creamy richness. But something changed a few years ago.

Nowadays, Best Foods mayo is less “firm,” less viscous. The potato salads I now make look more like a bunch of potatoes void of any mayo on them. cause a good portion of the mayo eventually drips down to the bottom of the salad bowl.

Best Food mayo was the only brand I would buy, but now I looking for brand who mayo has a texture similar to the Best Food mayo I use to know.

I like Bestfoods mayonnaise. We brought the squeezable one on a roadtrip and it did fairly well. The biggest test was trying to make BLTs in the back of a van while going through mountainous terrain.

Did the mayonnaise get everywhere? No not a drop. It did very well and it fit nicely into the cooler. Do I want to have another BLT again. the verdict is still out. I also like using the mayonnaise to make things like chicken salad it has a good taste.

It doesn’t taste sour which I like.

The last two containers of best food’s mayonnaise I have bought are absolutely horrible. They’ve changed the formula so that it tastes like miracle whip. Please don’t do this. If I wanted to buy miracle whip, I would’ve bought miracle whip.

And mayonnaise isn’t cheap these days – I feel like I’m wasting my money. Please don’t stray from what was good in the past.

Very good Mayo – but very difficult to get out of the container! Need to obtain a thin spoon with a long handle! Do they do it in a jar, then a spoon is all you need?

Doesn’t taste like mayo at all. I threw it in the bin. Hellmans Vegan Mayo is much better and comes in a jar.

Hellmann’s vegan mayonnaise is fabulous, however this squeezy plastic bottle represents poor value for money and planet. It may be cheaper than the glass jar but you will be unable to eat at least a quarter of mayo in the bottle as it is impossible to get out.

So not cheaper. The plastic is too thick to cut with household scissors. My husband suggested a Stanley knife but I didn’t fancy ending up in A&E.

Lovely mayonnaise and will keep to this as it’s vegan, I usually have the ordinary one. However, it’s really difficult to squeeze the mayonnaise out, even if you unscrew the top. I will buy in bulk again when it half price.

Best vegan mayo out. The one thing I did think I would miss would be mayo as I literally throw it on everything. I tried some vegan mayo’s which were horrible, but then found this one and it is so good, better than the original.
