20 Best Folding Boat Deck Chairs (2023 Updated)

Excellent, sturdy boat chair. I bought it for my boat, not a dock so it had to be stable. Only two reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars. No matter how you position it, it will not stand up when folded and you have to store it flat in the boat, space.

Second, the rubber leg cups are not glued on so if they come off, the chair can slide on the deck. Fixed that with a dab of 5200. I looked at West Marine and Bass pro Shops and their offerings were more pricy and not as sturdy.

This chair had a few design/quality problems. First, because of a frame design problem, it only partially folds up. The seat back hits the seat long before the chair folds all the way up, which causes there to be a crease in the seat.

The crease did not go away after three days open and being sat on. Also, more of a problem, after sitting on it for a while, the fabric somehow sticks to the foam padding and when you get up it makes a noise like a whoopee cushion.

One final note, it is not very comfortable, but that may be a matter of taste. I returned the chair.

Much higher quality than I expected for this price. Every bit as durable and functional as the one’s sold for $100 more by marine speciality stores. Only downside, is that the plastic caps on the legs are not well-secured – I have already lost four of them in the first month that I have owned the chairs.

I needed to replace 2 long serving fold up chairs and decided to look for something a bit more up market than a simple fold up option. My criteria were – comfortable, simple to operate, light weight, side tray and not a stupid price.

The Coleman chair met the middle 3 with comfort later proven by use. Initially I was discounting it as an option due to the price which at £84. 99 I was not prepared to pay however when I found them through Trackpack at under £50 I decided to buy as Coleman have never disappointed me with their products in the past.

The chairs were delivered timely and in good condition. The quality was obvious immediately. Properly shaped frames heavy duty fabric and easy to use. Having sat in one through the course of a family get together I can attest to the comfort they offer.

Properly cared for they should provide years of service. Happy buyer.

Bought two Coleman deck chairs (without side table) 7 years ago. Got a lot of use camping and on days away. Best thing is the chair does not sink into soft ground or sand because of the tubular leg design.

Packs skinny. Fabric is hard wearing, soft and comfortable. Very stable. Easy to clean. Will last a lifetime.

These are really good chairs. We prefer this chair over the other style (the one that folds together by the legs and can be stored in a carrying bag) because this style has a firm seat and back that don’t scrunch your shoulders together while you sit.

We have about 6 of these chairs and we use them a few times a week for about 5 years. The tray is strong enough to hold a plate of food and a drink with no problem. It’s pretty sturdy, but the cupholder could stand to be a little deeper.

The only problem we’ve had with these chairs is that the stitching on the seat of the chair that attaches the canvas to the top rail of the X frame has slowly torn out on 2 of the chairs. I assume all of the chairs will meet the same date eventually.

The frame and canvas material are all still in great shape regardless of the torn stitching. I’m currently looking for a way to stop ch the broken chairs back up with some kind of heavy thread. Overall, these are great, comfortable chairs.

The seat fabric disintegrated after very light use for a few months, used less than 6 times by a not-large adult. I spent hours sewing and patching it back together only to have it tear again right next to one line of stitching.

It’s a shame because this was the MOST comfortable chair for my back that I could find. A sturdy fabric should have been used. Clearly it’s a common issue. What is Coleman doing to make this great chair design better? It was the best chair I found for my bad back and I would buy it again for the design IF the fabric was sturdy enough to be dependable!.

Except for the unraveling, fraying and eventual disintegration of the green trim, a great chair. Started looking worn after 6 months and not ‘guest worthy’ after a year. And if your patient, in 2 years the seat will rip while your sitting in it.

It’s a shame, I always supported Coleman as a brand, they always seemed better quality at a reasonable price. Oh well, will now have to look elsewhere. If interested I can post pics. Let me know.

The chair was delivered at my door in a large cardboard box (not fitted to the size and form of the chair). There was no instruction material that showed how to expand the chair and to fold it up. After some experimenting with the chair I was able to get it snapped into its form ready to sit in.

It took some effort which wasn’t expected. Then I went to work trying various ways to get it folded up, which took a while. I wondered if everyone who buys this chair was able to figure out how to put it into use.

Also, the description of the chair online claimed a weight of 3 pounds. It weighs close to 8 pounds.

seems like a decent seat, about the right size for me, however the picture is wrong, the seats I received both have bright aluminum hinge brackets not the black brackets like in picture. I took both brackets off and added a little camo paint and they look much better.

I also discovered while removing the brackets that the workmanship in attaching the cover material to the the seat itself too be lacking in the quality that I would have expected, so I got out the hot glue gun and a stapler and made it more robust.

so if your like me a little work can make it a much better seat. Overall worth the money IMHO.

I just replaced the old seats in my boat. These were much better quality than I expected. I have to say, I have never bought anything from Sportsman’s Guide that was not of very good quality and better than expected.

quality is good. Just frustrating that the pic shows a black hinge and it’s very shiny silver. Dumb on a camo seat to have this crazy reflective surface. Had to spay paint it my self. Annoying

Disappointed that the chair does not fold flat. Looking at competitive chairs, it appears that none of them will fold flat, but I am not positive about that. Burned by shopping online instead of visiting store.

I trusted online answer for the weight. It is NOT 10. 1 lbs. it is 17 pounds 10 ounces. See photos.

Nice material, nice size, good quality chairs

Very disappointed! Was shipped a damaged chair with a note from previous recipient on top! This was to be my husband’s Christmas gift. Unacceptable quality control. I refused shipment.

Ordered two chairs for additional seating. The only assembly required is four screws holding the cushioned arm pads, however removing the plastic covering the aluminum frame was a challenge. We finally ended up loosening the screws with held the seat and back cushions.

The covering keeps the frame from being marred in the initial assembly and shipping. Once they were loosened, it came off very easily. The chairs are an excellent value, comfortable, and very classy looking.

Looks great ! Not very comfortable do to very hard cushions (they may soften up) and the distance between the butt cushion and back rest is to far so you tend to set in a hole if you set up straight with your back against the back rest.

Set in a friends west marine chair and it was more comfortable but it also cost 100. 00 more so if your gonna spend a lot of time in it maybe spend the extra 100. 00 , I wouldn’t. They do look nearly identical.

It was a good transaction – smooth – chairs delivered way before they had first said they would get here – the chairs themselves make me feel like Thurston Howell – well padded and sturdy and worth the money – I am trying to think of a reason to buy two more – in the world of lawn yards who would have guessed such chairs existed – and they were at a discounted price with free delivery – and they look nice – they are replacing two well made Steelcase Chairs that I had for 15 years – and these are more comfortable for a back that has some L4 and L5 lumbar issues going on.

Shipping was quick. Quality is good. The wood arms are a nice feature, and depending on weather, the arms are neither hot nor cold, plus give a little extra width, for arm resting. Husband was happy with 2 chairs for the boat cockpit, as a B-Day gift! Wife is happy because the chairs are comfortable to sit in, yet sturdy, not wobbly! The price was also reasonable.

The chair came quickly and were exactly what we were looking for. They are sharp looking, comfortable, sturdy and light weight. What more could you want. We bought these to use on our day outings to the beach or park.

We do not like to sit in those chairs that are low to the ground, they are tough to get up out of even though we are fit elderly folks. These are perfect! I would buy them again in a second! Thank you!!.

These chairs are constructed like deck chairs we bought in 1997. Those chairs served us well. They are just plain wearing out. If these chairs last 1/2 that long we will be very happy with them. They look good, feel sturdy, and are comfortable.

When folded they stow compactly.

Really like this chair. Sturdy, little beaver then I thought, but no worries. Only bad thing is folding it up. Cannot fold following instructions provided. Only way is to turn it upside down and firmly press on the bottom of the seat with my foot.

Not sure if fitting are too tight / stuff or just the design. Can see where there the top coating on the legs has rubbed off because of how difficult it is to fold. Keeping it, stepping on the bottom is quick and painless.

These chairs are my go to for everything! Soccer games, baseball games, picnics, camping and more. They are lightweight sturdy and easy to set up and put away. These chairs have the perfect reclining of the back which is something that differentiates it from other brands.

I’ve had these chairs for years and they have held up really well. I’d definitely buy these again.

I LOVE these chairs. The fact that they are folding chairs is even better! I’m also very pleased with the very prompt delivery. Can’t be happier!

We ordered these for our mother’s day and father’s day gift to one another. My husband put these together easily within 1 hour. My son assisted with holding the pieces together as my husband connected the pieces.

They are durable, well made, easy to assemble, comfortable, and beautiful. Great find and worth the money!.

product is assembled with terrible quality control and wrong fasteners. Half of the acorn nuts had fallen off prior to unpackaging, these are the wrong nuts for this application. I had to buy all new longer screws so can use a teflon lock nut.

Screws that came with provided only 3 threads to a acorn nut that loosens as soon as chairs is folded. other components of chair seem to be decent quality. But spent an addtl $30 per chair buying proper Hardware.

These chairs looked great but when they arrived, the plastic grommets were dry rot and had to be replaced. ALso, several bolts were loose in the box. So before I could use them I had to go to Ace Hardware and buy replacement grommets and bolts to put the chairs together before I could use them.

They must have been in a warehouse for who knows how long to cause the grommets to just fall apart in the box.

The chairs are very comfortable and sturdy but I used them one time and the spacers broke in numerous spots. I was also missing numerous washers. I am returning these for a full refund as I don’t see how they can improve the white washers/spacers from breaking.

Also they did not provide me with a pre-paid shipping label, that’s cost out of my pocket.

Modern look, light, made in France, Big choice of color, easy to carry to store, can support 140 kg, very confortable (4 Positions) relax in a small place balcon, small garden we are very happy with the product.

I ordered a set of 4 under the configuration options, but only received 2. Love the chairs, great comfortable low profile.

I’m not a big fan of these. If you want to sit without putting your feet up, they are a big pain in the butt. I have little ones and need to be able to pop up to get them. If you are sitting up right, it is difficult to get out of these quickly.

You can release the foot rest part of the chair, but the foot rest just lays on the ground in front of you. This chair just gets in my way. If I could actually sit and put my feet up for any amount of time, I might like this chair.

Ordered it online and got it in time for our RV campout. Love it and love the way they fold up and don’t take up much room! Have taken our big bulky metal frame reclining chairs out of our RV for good! The only thing I would change is that it would be nice if they came with an extra pillow for lumbar support.

But I just used the headrest pillow for that purpose instead.

Well constructed, solid chair. No wobble, no imperfections of the fabric or the wood frame.

I bought three of these chairs for my boat deck to lounge. Within one week the backrest fabric was coming apart.I am not sure I will purchase them again.

These chairs are sturdy snd arrived in good condition.

Just put a pair of these in my Jon Boat. Huge upgrade from the built in bench seat. Comfy, and easy to install. Comes with 4 screws.

The seat is comfortable, and well made. I installed it in a small (12ft) fishing boat. Which is a bit overkill in that small of a boat, but I wanted to be able to sit comfortably for hours while fishing.

Because of the brick of styrofoam under the seat, it was a real challenge to install. Added a small piece of plywood under the styrofoam/seat and used long 9” bolts after drilling all the way through.

Also in a small boat like mine, leaning back actually tips the boat a bit more than I like, so I use the anchor and battery to balance my weight out as I relax in my very comfortable new seat!.

Threw this in my kayak as we all know the seats they come with totally suck. Didn’t have to use screws to install, just a bungee on each back corner to hold in place. Very comfortable on all day floats and can also carry out to sit on bank when you take breaks , if it only lasts a couple years will be worth it to be comfortable while kayaking and fishing.

I discovered this chair while attending sports events for my nieces and nephews. I took pictures, did my research but I hesitated to purchase due to the price. While having a boat might make this a worthy investment, people using it for a stadium seat might think differently.

After several weeks of deliberation, I took the dive. It arrived lightening fast required almost no setup (aside from attaching the cup). Contrary to the reviews I’ve read, I had no issues adjusting the back of the seat to different positions.

This seat is worth every penny. I hate that blue is the only color available on the website. Girls like pink, purple, etc. I’d even like black compared to the blue color. As a doctor, I know the importance of proper ergonomics and back issues are becoming increasingly common.

Anyone who has avoided outdoor outings due to back, spine, tailbone issues then this seat is for you. Not only will it ease any pains associated with bleachers and stadium seats but it will also keep you warm and dry.

If they wanted to make this seat 10 stars, I’d suggest adding the heaters to it like some other brands offer. I expect this seat to last me for years. It is well made, durable and since I live by the beach, I’m gonna plant it in the sand and see how it fares.

I’m so glad that I discovered this chair.

First the negative, then the positive. The negative was enough that I returned these and got two others that have proven MUCH better. I bought these to used on the bow of the boat and it was important to me that anyone with only basic knowledge of how they should work (collapse forward before opening back) could figure them out The fact that they are designed to be COMPLETELY reclined flat and with 5 adjustable positions all the way up to the 90-degree upright was a big selling point.

However, these specific chairs are NOT AT ALL EASY to recline beyond the 90-degree upright (and I noticed that one of the other 3-star ratings still believes that 90-degrees is as good as it gets). I managed to get it to recline about 1 out of 10 times and none of my other family members succeeded at all.

So, I took them back to West Marine where only 1 out of 3 people working there were able to successfully show us all “the trick” to adjusting them. We all struggled. The reason that they are more difficult has to do with the fact that these very well-made chairs are so thick that they required 2-hinge design between the seat and the back on each side (total 4 hinges) and it is only the bottom hinges that will activate and release the reclining mechanism.

Therefore, one must get up, face the chair in an awkward way holding one hand on the seat back (above the top hinges) and one hand on the seat bottom (behind the top hinges but above the bottom hinges) to move only the bottom and not engage the top.

Sound difficult?. it is! In any case, I returned these “high-back go-anywhere” chairs and instead purchased two of the simpler “go-anywhere with arms (low back)” which happen to retail for the exact same price but are MUCH MUCH easier to use, are lighter, more compact, and easier to store.

So, bottom line, if you want the most comfortable chair available and you won’t be adjusting it. buy this one. Otherwise, simpler is better!!!.

I got this chair on the garage sale as brand new but a discount because it was missing the carrying bag. I used it once by my outdoor fire pit and it was super comfortable and had a great drink and phone holder.

However noticed after one time use it already had an ember hole. Before you anyone reading this says it was on me, I use chairs outside all the time, was sitting in it almost the entire time, and was a foot or two away from the pit.

That being said I think it was very similar to the other reviews in that it is a super strong and comfy chair but definitely not outdoor elements durable.

Very comfortable chair. Sits higher than most chairs which is great for those of us that are taller. Only reason giving 4 stars is due to the cup holder and the small side pocket. Both could have been constructed in better places.

Excellent chair! I weigh 300 lbs and am a bit nervous sitting in other peoples chairs. I have never sat in such a solid feeling chair. It is a nice height as well. I highly recommend it.

This is a well designed camp chair which meets the requirement for portability and strength. Being constructed with steel it is certainly heavier than the average chair of this type, but the weight gives confidence that it will indeed bare up to 28 stones.

It’s been one of the best chairs I have ever had. Comfortable easy to put up and down. Only thing It’s a wee bit heavy but I can understand how it is well made
