20 Best Fleas Medicine For Dogs (2023 Updated)

I am hesitant to use these types of products compulsively for preventive measures. Fortunately, We’ve not been in an area where fleas are out of control outside, as we have had problems in the past with other pets.

These types of topical medicines would only be effective for a maximum of 1 1/2 to 2 weeks at best. And then our previous dog, and coincidentally our cat also, developed tumors where these types of medicines were being applied.

I can’t say for certain that they were the cause. But it’s very suspicious that it happened in both animals. The dog we noticed first. And maybe a year or so later our cat. They both lived to past 11 years.

And our dog was also on meds for epilepsy. Only briefly because he would spit out the meds no matter how clever I thought I was in hiding them. So, since he refused to take them, I stopped trying to make him.

His grand mal seizures were frequent and long lasting. But, he just got better at spitting out the pills, even if I shoved them down his throat. i have only had to use these topicals a few times in our current dogs short life, so far.

And it seemed to work fine and for as long as it said it was supposed to work. And when she or we seem a bit more itchy, I apply it again, and wait until it’s “needed”, again- as opposed to routinely scheduled once every month.

And in my opinion, it works better than capstar, which is meant as a short acting topical to immediately relieve a flea problem getting out of control. But for whatever reason, this works better for us, even though it might take a few days to really notice results.

(I never really noticed immediate results with. Capstar. It helped make the problem not get any worse. But it didn’t solve the problem either. ).

Was pleasantly surprised. Normally I use a prescription tablet for my dogs from their vet. I didn’t have high hopes that this product would work but my dogs were getting bit all over, so much so they were losing hair.

Bought this & it started to kill fleas instantly but took a while to kill them all. Their prescription pill from the vet works faster. However after 24 hours all fleas were gone and all the scratching stopped.

So this works!Edit : Changed from 4 to two stars. I Spoke too soon, the itching has just decreased but it didn’t stop the fleas completely. Used the whole entire 6 pack in a week on my poor dogs. It’s an okay product I will stick to their vet’s prescription.

WHY are fleas so resilient ?? I’ve tried everything under the sun that is OTC and even came back to Advantage because it seemed to have worked the best. But not any longer. I am so disheartened. This latest purchase plus one more for the cats without them getting a break is awful.

Curiously enough, it was my very first time using pet armor and it’s free “service” and I can’t help but wonder is the actual medication as good as it reminder service? Is this why it’s SOOOO much more “affordable” than the other brands? What corners are cut in order for their product to be more Walmart shelf friendly instead of veterinary visit take home a prescription sure? I have a very meager fixed income I live on month to month due to disability and I can’t afford to lose my dog, my best friend, the one thing I know loves me and doesn’t want anything other than more love from me.

I bought the six month pack, and because of my tight budget, I have no choice but to finish it before I can buy more. This was definitely an eye opener for me though. Hopefully; fingers crossed, we will make it through this without more than an extra bath or two.

We found this brand going through Walmarts locked case of higher end flea products. Or at least the more expensive as they were kept under lock and key should I say. We usually used Frontline and wanted something cheaper but just as safe.

The clerk recommended that they’re well selling products so they probably work rather well. Given we’ve got four dog’s and occasionally foster fur babies it’s a must to have good flea control for my animals.

We used the formula that comes in the squeeze tubes and supposed to protect for months or more. We did the application exactly as directed on the box but the results weren’t near as good as Frontline.

They do the trick and keep fleas down but I still found a tick on one dog early in application. So it delivered on the flea infestation keeping that from happening but I’d like to see them provide the all around protection they advertise.

For the price difference maybe you get what you pay for but I’ll not repurchase this unless they make improvements in the formula.

I have to say I am very happy with this product. We bought a bunch of different kinds of these treatments and also got our dog treated at a big box pet store once or twice and none of it really worked on the kinds of fleas our dog was getting.

We live in SoCal and I dont really know what they are specifically. But nothing worked. Then I read here on Home Deliveries USA a review by someone that said they tried this product along with one of those fast-acting pills and the combination worked for them.

So i bought this product and the Capstar Fast-Acting Oral Flea Treatment for Large Dogs. We gave the pill to the dog and followed the directions before giving her the long treatment. And they worked.

Our dog was scratching so chronically that she was hurting herself and bleeding and losing fur. We are in our 3rd month now i think? And she rarely scratches, her body has healed and her fur is coming back in.

We love our dog and hated what was happening so thank you for the great product!.

I’ve been using Frontline on my dogs for 37 years. Why? Because it works. In all that time we’ve never had a flea infestation or a tick problem with any of our Doberman Pinschers. That seems like a good track record to me.

This year, however, for the first time, our new rescue Dobie has had a terrible time with fleas. It doesn’t surprise us because the change in the climate has affected everything in our household, from the dogs to our rose garden toe our vegetable gardens.

Things are simply burning up. Our roses crumble like potato chips and on 8 tomato plants we have harvested 6 tomatoes! Usually, we have so many tomatoes we have to give them away, and the same with the roses.

I’ve used Frontlline for many years on different dogs, and it works, as I’ve never noticed any fleas, ticks or other nasty critters on my dogs after using it regularly. That being said, all my dogs hated having it applied.

And I mean HATE. They would hide when I brought it out of the closet, and attempt to rub it off afterwards by rubbing along the side of the couch, the carpet, or rolling in the grass outside in an effort to get it off.

I don’t know why. With my current dog, because of my experience with previous dogs disliking the product, I started using an oral product instead, but it was so expensive, and required a prescription, so I went back to Frontline again.

It works, but like my other dogs, she hates it being applied to her skin. Maybe it’s the smell, maybe the feeling of cold liquid on her back? I don’t know what’s the big deal, it’s only a few drops. Anyway, this is the fourth dog I’ve had that has hated it.

Interesting timing to get an email to review this product. Look, overall, I like it a lot. I trust it. BUT it appears my dog needs it a little more frequently than once a month (we’ve spoken with the vet).

As I write this, my dog has a little mark on his snout from where my husband had to pull a tick off of last night. He’s been burying his nose and I bet I can pinpoint exactly when it happened. The thing is though, he was due for another dose in 3 days, so I’m not completely surprised it happened at this time.

However it’s November and although days have been pretty nice (60s), nights have been cold. I wasn’t expecting to deal with them this time of year. Last year was the first year in 4 years we found ticks of my dog, and he got a lot over the summer, just from taking walks in a community.

But with the vets help, we realized he was almost always getting them close to when his next dose was due. So overall, yes it works, but I would recommend talking to your vet about dose frequency if u start noticing ticks.

I have an 8 pound 9 year old long hair Chihuahua mix she is highly allergic to. well it feels like everything! But in reality she suffers from a lot of allergies we think she may even be allergic to freshly cut grass she has allergies to chicken and beef which gives her ear infections.

Also flea and tick control medicine that she takes orally causes her skin to break out with big scabs and she pulls her hair out for the full 30 days with big hot spots,, then when it is dissolves out of her system she’s back to being her normal relaxed self.

needless to say after a lot of agonizing experiences and a ton of money I hope this review will help someone out there experiencing these frustrations and heartaches. since she was five years old we have tried to stay on a certain food that is made in Canada that we order online called Performatrin Ultra of course minus all chicken and beef.

And we only give her Frontline Flea and Tick drops which she tolerates very well. She takes a joint treat for hip and Joint movement so she can get up the stairs like a puppy and of course a heartworm medicine called Inceptor you get from a vet.

And the only treats for her teeth are Dentallife by Purina the spongy ones. If your the fence, I would recommend trying Frontline. Especially if your dog has allergies and has skin issues like my dog has! I wouldn’t recommend any oral flea medicine for dogs with skin sensitivity.

And I would only put it on every 5-6 weeks during the season of fleas.

My small indoors only dog has a mild flea outbreak and I purchased this because of it’s claim to be fast acting. It’s been two weeks and although she is scratching less, I do still pick off fleas here and there when I find them.

This product doesn’t work fast enough to kill them all, but at least there is a three month supply for the stubborn fleas. She doesn’t have any ticks so don’t know how well they would’ve worked on those.

For faster flea removal I recommend cap star pill and the frontline that repels the mosquitos too. I haven’t used that one in a long time but I feel it worked better and was stronger than this product.

Vials are easy to apply once a month between the shoulder blades and onto skin by parting the hair, are pretty decent priced but just wished it worked better a lot quicker!.

Messy to apply. My dogs have a thick undercoat so it is hard to get product directly on the skin, especially when they are squirmy puppies. Once applied, their fur acted as a sort of siphon and sucked the product to the outer coat where it stayed greasy and damp for some time.

The next application I was more careful and didn’t have as much of that problem. Both times though, we still found the occasional flea. My pets weren’t actually infested but we were pre-empting. It didn’t work.

The last straw was our dog-sitter finding ticks on my girl’s ears. I want my money back.

First of all, NEVER diss the value of a vet check: your pet , cat or dog, has to be healthy enough for ANY correctly used flea remedies. Yes, vets need to stay in business and some of their prices are quite higher than some reputable online sellers offer.

This product alone will not end your flea-festation if it is bad. Fleas spend only a tiny portion of their time on the animal- otherwise they’re in your carpets, cracks, furniture, yards- but fleas do normally “dine” twice a day.

Giving this oral pill once daily will START to deal with your problem, killing each flea that bites within 24 hours. Nitenpyram is used for both dogs and cats. * Once your cat is cleared for this medication, and weighs at least 3 pounds, it is cost saving to BREAK one 57mg( packaged for Dogs over 25 pounds) tablet into 4 quarters and use one of these quarters for a cat.

The normal cat dosage is only 11mg/ the quarter is 14. 25mg, not a substantial difference, in fact some vets sell this product this way- at $6-10 per quarter. You do the math. To truly “treat” a severe flea infestation will require your washing all pet bedding, treating carpets, floors, yards- each with diffetent products which each have very specific safety instructions for your pets and family and must be followed to the letter.

Yourvet can help you choose a treatment plan. Capstar, like any flea product, is subject to formula updates; the above applies only to the product as shown. It has helped me immensely in my cat rescue group.

Works as said. If have infestation I highly recommend using this. Revolution was doing nothing after a flea infestation from some wildlife. This was a lifesaver in between treating house and backyard for fleas.

Bc it worked so well I decided to try nexstar, this company’s flea topical that works for a month. So capstar is good if u have a flea infestation. I used it every 48 hrs for a week. You can however give up to 1 a day if need be.

I didn’t want to over medicate if not needed and my own personal situation the 48 hrs was ok since this product works between 24 and 48 hrs. Idk if I would have needed this product if I already had the nexstar on dogs.

But if you have a product that doesn’t work, like I had with Revolution, use the Capstar immediately and get the dog onto the nexstar which is an equally good product! I cannot thank the company enough for making such good products.

Total lifesaver. And the dogs have been good on both products with no negative reactions to skin or stomach. I do give with food this product. 3 separate dogs. Types and sizes all responded well to this! This capstar was for a elderly mini poodle.

For those of you that it doesn’t work for, here’s some info. Capstar has been around a while and is a great product. In the veterinary field we use it when pets come in and either have a couple of fleas or are infested with fleas.

It can be given daily if there is an infestation but you MUST follow up with either a topical treatment or whatever you normally use. If you have an infestation It can take up to 4 months for the life cycle of the flea to completely die off so you MUST continue with monthly flea treatment and vacuum vacuum vacuum.

Don’t keep your vacuum in the house. Fleas are annoying and take a long time to get rid of. Just a little helpful info for anyone who needs it.

I have used this product for several years and only had an issue maybe twice. Once it caused Rowdy intense itching but that resolved the next year and only once did I have an issue with him still getting fleas but I honestly think that not treating my yard that year contributed to the problem.

In the year that we had the itching issue every product I tried that year caused the same reaction and I spoke with several people who all had the itching problem regardless of the product they used so I do feel it was an isolated event and we haven’t had that problem since.

So as long as I treat my yard as well as my dog we have no problem with fleas. I highly recommend you do both and I highly recommend this product. Keep in mind that this particular product also keeps the mosquitoes off of him and living in Arkansas one knows that mosquito season is almost all year thanks to our weather and other products do not keep the mosquitoes at bay which means you have to either keep your animal in or put another product on them and I would rather have that protection from one product not multiple.

Around my home it doesn’t matter what time of day you go out, mosquitoes are active all day and evening. I hope this review helps someone to make up their mind. We love it, Marilyn, Rowdy and Semi.

I used this product because it was recommended by Pet Smart. My dog has never had fleas but I used Frontline on him when he was a puppy and he was fine. Now he’s 7, we moved and I noticed a few fleas on him.

So I went and bought this product. I applied it exactly as directed and my dog has a terrible skin burn on his back that seems to be getting bigger. It now has puss and I’ve washed it twice a day with water as best I can without hurting him.

My dog has never yelped or showed signs of pain, other than a slight limp a couple of times, in his life. When I touch this area he yelps, jerks and tries to bite me. Getting bitten by a Dogo Argentino isn’t recommended.

Luckily I’m quick and he’d protect me with his life. But he is in a lot of pain. This is the third day, it showed up the second day after I applied it, and I’m going to the vet tomorrow as it seems to be getting bigger.

I will try to post pictures. Edit*** It doesn’t look like I can post pictures but I’m more than happy to send them to anyone who is thinking of buying this product. This happened the next day after it was applied so there’s nothing else it could be.

After my vet confirms this, I’m going to do my best to see how bad I can affect their business on social media and thru the pet community. Is Bayer K9 Advantix going to pay my vet bill? Doubtful.

I have tried several flea products. So far, only the prescription from the vet works. The Seresto collar is also helpful. I have been using this product for a solid 6 months. 1st month: worked for 3 days and they were back.

We re-applied as recommended and got another 3 days of relief. 2nd month: lasted a week. I thought maybe it builds up in their system and gets better over time. Re-applied as suggested. 3rd month: Actually, my lab mix is doing much better.

My terrier mix passed on so can’t tell, my Pitt/bulldog mix is absolutely covered after a week. Cats got maybe one day of relief. It actually seems to have made them worse this time. I kept trying but it just hasn’t done the job satisfactorily except for my lab.

Maybe it is the fur as he has a nice thicker growth of hair around his neck but it really should not matter. If it does matter, it should be listed as a potential issue. I’m on a fixed income and this is really expensive for me to have something that doesn’t work as described.

It has a good reputation with most people which is what brought me to the product but I’m sorry I’ve spent so much and my pets are miserable.

We have a medium sized American Cocker Spaniel, he didn’t react any differently to this medication but any other flea medicine we have used. It seems to be working, although it is winter time when fleas here are the lowest population wise.

However, we do live in the south so they are present all year long, as well as ticks. We don’t normally have a problem with ticks, and hope to continue not to have one using this product. It’s easy enough to apply assuming you know what you’re doing, or can learn fairly quickly.

Product works great. Period. But you have to give it time. “They say” after you apply the first treatment fleas tend to become much more active. (Which is also probably why some people say their cat is covered after the first day.

consider that a good thing, the fleas are trying to get off your fur babies. ) For people that say this doesn’t work they need to do a little more research on how to get rid of fleas and the length time it takes, as this is a process and it will not happen overnight.

(If you have a flea infestation. and by the way, if you see one flea, there are probably thousands. so it’s an “infestation” – as gross as it sounds, even if it’s mild, is real. Generally speaking, takes approximately three months to get rid of fleas.

I have three black cats who are all indoors (they’re stuck in a 3900sqft maximum-security penitentiary called “the house”and they probably have it better than most people). I keep the house clean and vacuum daily so I have no idea how by babies ended up with fleas.

Unfortunately the fleas were extremely difficult to find from the beginning, primarily because they’re black cats and also because I keep the house so clean. I didn’t want to spend an astronomical amount of money which is why I tried this product along with some natural flea spray (green and white bottle I can’t remember the name, also purchased here) which seem to work very well also.

At the time of writing this review this is my third purchase. After the initial treatment the fleas were extremely active, after I did the first treatment the very next day I saw like five on a blanket where the smallest cat was sleeping first thing in the morning.

As for how effective PetAction Plus is I would say I am very satisfied with the results. Ofcourse theres no way to eliminate fleas just with medicine you must also keep up with vaccuming of the interior of your home and washing of any fabrics your pets come in contact with and what not.

Also by keeping up with grooming your pet with a flea comb everyday till your flea infestation is tooken care of to ensure you get all the flea dirt, yeah its alot if work but your animals will thank you because the fleas drive them nuts.

But with PetAction Plus I definitely started to see a decline in the fleas instantly. And after keeping up with the flea comb I was seeing very few live fleas on Henry, with his fur being long and fine it seems to be a lot harder for the flea comb to grab the eggs so besides the new hatchlings all the other adults fleas were gone.

So this flea application has definetely shown to be effective as compared to other flea medication which my mom bought through the actual vet for her cat. I say I am satisfied and would definetely recommend anyone with pets to give PetAction Plus a try.

I love it! We foster cats, dogs, and just about anything else you can think of. We often have a house full of cats and it can get a bit overwhelming trying to keep fleas at bay. With this product I am able to treat all the cats and have some left over.

This product even works well for our cats with sensitive skin. Of course not all products work for all animals (just like with humans) but so far every cat has done well with this!!.

Me and my Husband bought this yesterday for our German Shepherd. The fleas this year are no joke. We gave her baths multiple times a week with some flea and tick shampoo, and the dead fleas would come off, but it didn’t get all of them off, at most, it was about 5 fleas that would come off per wash.

Along with bathing my dog, we had some home spray we would spray on the bed and anywhere else she was in contact with, and it only worked for a few hours. We were growing frustrated with buying so many products with little results.

We were about to give her a dawn dish soap bath. We decided to pick up PetArmor Plus for Dogs, 45 to 88 pounds. I put it on her at about 9pm last night and by 1pm today, she wasn’t scratching as bad, and the FLEAS WERE FALLING OFF HER BODY.

My neighbors have a bunch of outdoor cats they don’t take care of so my dog gets fleas, worms, etc. when she goes outside. My dog is indoors 95% of the time and only goes outside to potty, sunbathe, and bark at the mail man.

I’ve used this brand for YEARS with my past dogs and never had an issue. That is until now. The past couple of months I have found 1,2, sometimes 3 fleas on my dog. I’ve been bit by a flea already. I don’t know if the formula changed but it’s not as strong as before.

I ALWAYS find a live flea on my dog. I buy this product since it’s supposed to PREVENT fleas, I don’t want fleas coming into the house and breeding becoming a bigger problem. I’m super tempted to try out frontline since although it doesn’t prevent, I heard it’s stronger so prevention isn’t an issue since it kills fleas quicker.

So after reading ALL the reviews for various brands, I had such high hopes for this because the others said they didn’t work or when they did they were inconsistent. Needless to say, my poor dogs are covered in fleas, they’re strictly indoor but go out to handle dog business, regardless, we have major issue now.

My dogs also infested my indoor cats now. Cue Vectra 3G. Dogs got bath, blow dry and clipped hair a little so I applied in thin line from tail to shoulders, as explained, first couple days we were perfect.

ZERO FLEAS!! No more biting, chewing, pacing around from anxiety from being bit. Well it’s been 12 days since I applied the topical treatment to my girls and this morning drinking coffee, I’m accompanied by this….

This is NOT quick drying and is NOT non-greasy, I can’t believe the company can even attempt to claim this. My dogs been on Vectra 3D for over 6 years now, given to him monthly & recommended by our vet.

For the next 3-4 days after application, your dogs fur will be greasy/sticky just along the back where applied. Its annoying because I have to remember to warn everyone before they pet him & I try not to touch that area otherwise I have to wash my hands.

Bits of lint and dirt get stuck to the fur (where applied) from being so greasy. BUT! This stuff really works. My dogs allergic to insect saliva so its imperative we use the best quality flea/tick medication.

He has seizures so he can’t take flea pills, has to have topical treatment. Unfortunately, my dog now weighs 100 lbs and the highest dose Chewy sells of Vectra 3D is up to 95 lbs so I worry about effectiveness now due to recent weight gain but haven’t had any issues so far.

He’s on a diet and we’re working on getting him back to 90 lbs. I do recommend Vectra 3D, its annoying how greasy and sticky it is for 3-4 days after application but that doesn’t stop us from using it because of how effective it is.

My girl was on Vectra 3D because it has a hot-foot effect for mosquitos and ticks, and we live in an area with both. She came up north with heartworm (and larvae in her blood) so we had to be super careful.

I’m keeping her on this — I’m happy with the tick-prevention and rarely find a tick on her by the time we get home and I look her over. Does that correlate to Vectra 3D or some other reason? I don’t know, but this is working for us.

She is a short-hair black lab/terrier mix. ORDER FROM CHEWY so you know it’s the real deal and not very old product. If you order from elsewhere, you don’t know the source the vendor used. Ordering from your vet is 1.

5-2X the price. I find this easy to use if you follow the directions. I wear gloves and “dot it” up her spine in short lines, which makes it easier to know the product is going all the way up tail to shoulders.

I take my time to get it close to her skin and rarely see an oily line up her back. I use it before bed and then in the morning give her a quick brushing down her back if any residue is left or the “previously wet line” is still there.

This flea treatment works for our large black lab/greyhound dog, Spike! He used to pick up fleas from our back lawn all spring and summer until I purchased this product. Now, he is flea-free, and so is our house! The scent isn’t bad, and he doesn’t seem to mind the product on this fur/skin.

Works great, for a great price. I’ve used Advantage II for years, but this has the same ingredients, and works just as well. If you have a heavy infestation, you will likely have to do the treatment of animals and house more than once, as you would with any other flea solution.

The difference is that PetArmor lets you do it for less money. It also hasn’t got as strong an odor as Advantage II, so my pets never see (smell!) me coming with it.

I have been feeding and helping a stray that has made the front of my house his home for over 5 years. I trapped him with the help of a sanctuary and had him neutered, microchipped, dewormed and deflead.

That was in the very beginning. Ollie is at my front door at dawn and dusk, he gets fed the same quality wet and dry food my indoor cats get with his water changed twice a day (we live in Florida, I even add ice cubes!).

As friendly as we are to each other sadly he will not let me pet or touch him in any way. I even have an alcove with a pet tree outside for him. Problem is as we live in a hot climate fleas are a terrible issue for him.

Poor guy constantly scratching. I found a solution that works great. As previously noted Comfortis pills are very large and very expensive, I do a two step process that really works for stray or feral cats.

Every 3 months I use Comfortis, it is by far the best treatment you can buy. Walmart online pet RX sells a three month supply at half the cost with a prescription, I tell my vet it’s for one of my indoor cats.

In between I use a product called Capstar (Amazon 6 month supply $28) the pill is so tiny they don’t even notice it quartered. Comfortis kills everything, adult fleas, larvae, eggs. Capstar only kills adults.

It’s the perfect solution to provide continuous control at a reasonable cost!.

It’s chewable, we crush it and sprinkle it into fish-flavored WET PATÉ cat food to ensure the MONTHLY dose isn’t wasted. NOTE: We have 4 other felines who are from the same feral family, each spayed/neutered.

One was brought in to also be a 100% INDOOR-ONLY cat, as he has proven to NOT be able to survive with his siblings (who live in and out of a temperature-controlled dwelling within our garage. Because they come from FERAL ORIGIN, they have parasites that our indoor cat does not have, and Comfortis will not effectively treat.

The ONLY Rx we’ve found that will kill the parasites is REVOLUTION, which is applied directly to the skin behind the neck, WHERE THE CAT CANNOT REACH. For cats that won’t you get close enough, I recommend COMFORTIS unless you have a better.

My dog has a “sensitive stomach” issue. He doesn’t eat the tablet voluntarily, (it really stinks) but split in half, covered with canned food, I can get him to swallow it. I tried NexGard once and he promptly vomited it up.

I also treat my yard with beneficial (parasitic) nematodes and that helps break the fleas’ life cycle as well as control some grubs. I gave the product 4 stars only because it’s somewhat difficult to administer.

Hey, Spinosad is a smelly systemic toxin. We have no flea issues. Good stuff!.

After comparing thr main ingriedients in my usual brand (Advantage), I Decided to roll the dice and try it hoping to save a few dollars. I was pleasantly surprised! I put it on my dog a week ago. It seems to work just as well as Advantage, but at a fraction of the cost.

I got 4 tubes for less than one tube of Advantage! Definitely will be buying this again! Even if I had to repeat a little sooner (maybe at 3 weeks instead of 4 as some people have said online) it is still a HUGE savings over Advantage.

I have not tried to bathe my dog yet, so I can’t comment on how well it works after a bath. My dog is an indoor/outdoor dog, coming and going as she pleases. We live in the country, so we need good flea medicine.

I’m happy with this product one week in, no fleas or ticks!!.

Our poor pup had been suffering from fleas off and on for a few weeks. We used other flea treatments and fogged the house but it seemed that another army hatched overnight a week later. As I squirted the treatment on our pup’s back, the fleas bubbled up from her fur and ran or jumped off.

The few I found remaining after half an hour were dead or dying. I’m well pleased with the results and glad that Petco price matched their online price which was $10 less than the store price.

I bought this product for both of my dogs large and small. It had wonderful reviews so I thought I would give it a try. It doesn’t work. My dogs are infested with fleas. And now my kids are getting ate up.

When calling to talk to the corp office no one ever answers!!! Do NOT waste your money!.

I can not rave enough about this product!! I have 5 fur babies. Two dogs and three cats. All are inside pets only, however, the dogs do have to go outside. One summer they brought fleas inside and all 5 animals got fleas.

Capstar was a lifesaver. After I gave them the pill, the fleas started to die off immediately. It was fantastic. No messy flea collar, no messy spray or oil and no smell.

I adopted two feral kittens who had lost their mother. They were flea ridden, and soon after my adult cats were jumping with fleas as well. My veterinarian suggested that I treat all of the cats with Capstar, treat the house for fleas and then use a topical flea preventative.

I did all of these, in order. The Capstar begins working immediately, killing any fleas that are lurking in the cats’ fur and biting. Yes, it’s a pill. Pilling cats can be challenging, but these tablets dissolve fairly easily so can be disguised with cat food (or people food, like tuna).

My cats ranged in age from 10 week old kittens to a 16 year old senior. None of them had any adverse events or side effects after using Capstar tablets. Capstar is a good way to get immediate relief from fleas for your kittens (6 week old and up) and cats.

It works. It only kills the big guys, so you have to clean the dogs and redo the treatment again in a couple days when the new ones hatch. The pills are nice and small so I’m able to slip it into a snack of sorts that they normally wouldn’t get, like lunch meat, and sneak them the pill without them usually noticing.

My Pomeranian is too smart for her own good and will sometimes magically eat the meat but spit that pill back out between chomps. I think she knows she will get another piece of meat if she does that.

She’s playing me for a fool. I’ve used this over the stuff you put on their skin the last few years and have had a lot of luck with it. Highly recommended.

Now I just went thru and read alot of reviews. and I’m shocked to see that these poor doggies are having such a tough time with fleas. My pit mix, Kilo, is 6½ and he has NEVER had a single flea (or tick) on him!!! We have been incredibly lucky! But this flea/tick medicine works great for my boy.

He spends alot of time outside, and is famous for rolling around on the ground like a nut job lol. and still not a single hitchhiker ever got on him. Thank God! (Bc I am incredibly freaked out by bugs, and creepy crawly stuff.

it’s my worst nightmare!) So I can’t explain how much I love this product!!! P. S. – Kilo has never had any skin issues or sensitivities from using this either. (When he was younger, we had used another product when this was out stock and it made his skin very twitchy, which is a known side effect).

so I’m just very grateful for this stuff. And I’m very sorry for the pups that didn’t get relief from it. But just like people. all dogs are different, so different products work differently for each unique pup!.

So back in like 2007, I got a puppy and we took her to the vet for check-up. The flea and heartworm topic came up. He was trying to sell us a certain brand and the price was pretty high. I told him I can’t afford that.

This was when I didn’t have a bunch of money to spare but we did what we could to take care of our puppy. But anyway. Back to this story. After going back an forth, he finally was like “well there is this cheaper option” and then comes out with Revolution.

We used it and it worked very well! Like zero fleas or anything! Over the years, going through different vets, I always try and see where they’re at when it comes to flea treatments and stuff. They ALWAYS will say they don’t recommend Revolution because they don’t trust it.

It’s sooo weird to me. Almost like there are companies paying them to do that. Our newest vet is really nice. When I told her about Revolution, she said the same thing! I swear by this stuff. It really does work! She wanted is to buy chewables and says the topical doesn’t hold it’s strength as long and this and that.

I told her I will think about it. And I did. I’m sticking to my go to! And I was reading some of the negative reviews on here. Some were saying they still see fleas. What I do is give my dog a bath using oatmeal flea shampoo.

One from the PetSmart. Then wait till the next day after your dog is dry! Put half the tube between the dogs shoulder blades and the other half on the dogs rear leg blades, just above where the tail comes out.

Idk how you say it lol. But this is what I have been doing for years and trust me. It works!.

We have been using Revolution on our kitty since he was 6 months old. He came to us from the shelter with coccidia and roundworm. No matter how hard we tried, the roundworm refused to clear. After reading that Revolution is the only flea product that also deals with parasites, we requested an RX from the vet.

Within two weeks of starting him on Revolution, the roundworm finally cleared. He is now 3. 5 years old, and he has never had another positive parasite test since. He is tested at least twice a year, because we walk him on-leash.

He munches on grass where fleas could easily hitch a ride. Very effective product. I just wish it hadn’t doubled in price over the last year. The first time we put it on him, his fur disintegrated a bit at the application site.

However, that has never occurred again in the three years since.

I tried several over-the-counter flea medications for my dog and cat, and soon I noticed I was being bit and my pets were scratching all the time. I thought I had mosquito bites. I thought the dog had allergies so put the dog on prednisolone.

It seemed to help, but he gained weight and had a ravenous appetite. After a time he started to itch again. The cat, on the other hand, got steroid shots to no avail. He was itchy no matter what. Meanwhile, we were still giving both of them OTC flea meds regularly every month.

Finally our vet used a flea comb on both of them and they were loaded with fleas. I was appalled. After completely de-fleaing the house and both the cat and dog, we went back to Revolution. We haven’t had a problem since.

I’m never again trusting an OTC flea med. That experience was no fun, believe me. Not for any of us. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it myself.

My pup is a 100lbs mastiff mix, he has never had a flea or tick thanks to bravecto. However, it was extremely hard to administer. After cutting it up, putting it in cheese, peanut butter and his food, my pup still found a way to spit the chew out.

I had to administer it the old school way by placing it into the back of his throat and massaged until he swallowed. Most pet owners are not comfortable doing that. Additionally, my pup has developed severe dandruff – so much so I have to bathe him every 2-3 days to ensure it doesn’t get out of control – after he consumed bravecto.

Though I can not deduce bravecto as being the main cause of his dandruff, I can say he developed it after I gave him this medication. Overall, bravecto is an effective flea and tick preventative that is difficult for some dogs to eat and may cause side effects – as with many medications.

Worst infestation of fleas this season. They’re inevitable as we live near the base of the foothills. After treating our yard multiple times, spending over $150 at Pet’s Mart, numerous baths, myself and my senior dog were at our wits’ end! I reached out to my hiking community as most of my friends hike with dogs and deal with fleas and ticks.

Bravecto came highly recommended with no side effects to the nervous system. My vet didn’t have it on hand but suggested I order it here and they approved the prescription and it was delivered in two days! My pup loved the chew and ate it right up! Fleas were no more that same night! 5 stars from me! Worth the $68 and my peace of mind for my small chihuahua.
