20 Best Filtration For Well Water (2023 Updated)

I ask this question at least 7 times a day: “Why didn’t I install this filter system 15 years ago??” We used to buy water from local water filtering shop and then we bought from Publix water filtering machine and lately had to use our fridge filter but the water quality wasn’t as good.

I think of all the time we spent hauling big jugs of water containers and time to time run out of filtered water and rush to the store. This filtering system ended all that headache! We get quality water that taste as good as bottled water, if not better, and we have plenty of water any time, any day.

The installation was very easy. The manual is easy to follow and I did the whole thing in a couple of hours. If I didn’t have to make some custom installation, I could have finished it sooner. The only issue I had was that one of the threaded fastener’s end wasn’t factory tight so I had a minor leak! That was quickly fixed by unscrewing the fastener and putting some Teflon tape on it and tight the fastener which took no more than 7 minutes.

Overall, we are very pleased with this system and I have encouraged several family members and friends to install one.

I’ve had this system for the past 3 months. We got this system to replace our ROES 50 system due to increased family size (2-4 members) and to aid in faster filling of our 5 gallon water jugs we use for our Primo.

This system has performed beyond expectations. Our water PPM has been the same as previously despite the faster filtration and less wasted water (~280’s pre filtered to low teens filtered). Also, it previously took about 3 hours to fill a five gallon jug, now it only takes about 30 mins.

The water pressure is incredible! No more waiting around for cups to fill. Lastly, replacing the system was very simple as many of the parts were the same as the ROES-50 and did not require removal. If you have an older system, I would highly recommend the upgrade.

After messing around for years with big name box store RO systems I did my homework and ordered the ROES-100. Great tasting water, twice the flow rate of my old systems, full size ice cubes! This is solid, not a plastic toy.

The system is very well thought out and even includes a water leak sensor. We had to change our sink base after multiple small leaks from the old system. Nice touch! I did a basement install just to make the servicing easy, I feed 2 icemakers plus the kitchen sink with no pressure drops.

Since I was replacing an old system installation took less than 10 minutes, but even on a new install it should be easy as all the parts included should cover most installation situations. Thanks for a great product.

I bought the ROES 100 on1/21/2022. It replaced my old RO45. I felt it was time to upgrade and the ROES100 has a more than needed output of very good water. The change out was simple and quick because the ROES has 3/8 tube output same as my old RO45.

On the start up both 1/4 elbow thread ends at the input and exit of the 3 stage pre filter housing leaked and the threads required 6 wraps of teflon tape. The tape is supplied with the tank for mounting the tank ball valve.

The ROES100 is working with great output flow. The leaks were poor quality on the assembly line and I hope not an indication of ROES quality. APEC has quality filters and I ordered a set of RO pre filters to replace the F1- ES pre filters supplied.

Clean looking product that also effectively filters water and is efficient in terms of saving you trips to the store as well as preventing you from producing trash and unnecessary empty bottles for the environment.

Technology has advanced since a decade ago in terms of manufacturing fit and finish. I was hesitant on installing my own system because of a bad experience from a different manufacturer years ago where no matter what i tried the parts leaked.

Well it seems like this filter system or maker overcame that issue and is providing a quality leak free system (fingers crossed so far no problems for over a month). The filters (upgraded model for the RO90) are made in USA which make it more trusting of the water.

It definitely filters, but one thing to be aware, you will need time to get used to the taste since it has a different mineral composition than spring water. Also the instruction manual with illustration is good to follow step by step and youtube video on the manufacturer channel supplements it well.

Note: they did change a piece that comes with the faucet so it may look a little different (mine came with a small nut, instead of a larger support piece, undersink) but functionally it all works fine.

I chose this system because the tank is a little more than a gallon and the compact setup of the filters. I set it up in my basement and got a couple extra fittings to have both a faucet and connect to the ice maker in my fridge.

I connected into a waterline with a T-fitting and used a T-fitting to split the water supply between the faucet and the fridge. Also purchased an extra shut-off valves to isolate the fridge. Clean cold water and ice.

replaced a 15 year old basic 4 stage watts under the counter unit no pump. if you use quite a bit of water like an under counter ice maker or a large family get the rcc100p unit with the pressure pumpit filled my existing tank which holds approx 3.

5 gals in under an hour. and the pump makes the water more pure. my TDS is 2. yes thats right. but my tap water is only 40 PPMappears well made. you cant hear it run the pump is very quiet. even if you have decent water pressure the pump will still come on when you use water.

heres to hoping it lasts many years. i have been an RO user since 93. i had a custom unit in las vegasi cant imagine living with out one. buy itenjoy itoh and your coffee maker will last foreverwithout cleaning.

-high quality system with excellent installation instructions. -chose a model with the booster pump in order to ensure more efficient operation at the membrane (less waste water). An added benefit is faster filling of the storage tank as well as higher flow at the faucet.

-most reviews state that the pump is “whisper quiet”; it is. Leaving nothing to chance though, I placed high density foam under and behind the unit. See photos. Any possible vibrations from the pump, that would be amplified by the kitchen cabinetry, are now absorbed by the foam.

The sound of the pump running, when tank needs to be periodically filled, is undetectable. – instructions state that if mounting/hanging unit, you should also support the three filter housings from the bottom in order to not have the water weight stress the filter canister threads.

I chose not to hang the unit. I simply placed the unit on my high density foam and it leans back nicely on another piece of foam behind it. – all colour coded interconnecting tubing was left full length so that when changing filters in the future, I can simply slide the unit out on to the kitchen floor with out disconnecting any of the tubing to Feed Water, Drain, Storage Tank and Faucet.

-pump power cord plugs into a receptacle in the basement that is right under the kitchen installation. That was just a bit of luck. -filters need to be replaced regularly in order to protect the heart of the system, the Reverse Osmosis (RO) membrane.

The 2 and 3 year filter replacement packs are similar in that they have enough filters to allow replacement of pre-filters every 6 months. They differ in that they each only have one replacement RO membrane rated for 2-3 years use.

It’s just the two of us, using city water, so we’ll go with the more cost effective 3 year supply of filters, replacing the RO membrane every 3 years. If your water is particularly dirty, you may be wise to buy the 2 year pack and replace your RO membrane every two years.

-believe that an RO system is functioning as designed if it can remove 90% of the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), from your drinking water. I have a iSpring TDS meter on order, with which to monitor my drinking water and thus the effectiveness of the system.

If TDS levels, measured in PPM, start to increase, I may have to change filters more often. The manual is very helpful in this regard.

We bought this product a couple of months ago. The installation was fairly easy and the instructions were helpful. When we thought there was a problem with the uv light and/or the uv ballast, we started corresponding with iSpring in the USA.

To make a long story short, they were very helpful at troubleshooting and were quick to back their product and sent replacement parts promptly. The kicker is that after numerous attempts to make the UV system work properly, we discovered that we had an electrical fault at the plug we were using and there was nothing wrong with the product to begin with! Since the electrical problem was fixed, the water filtration system works beautifully.

If you’re worried about ordering an online only product like this because you think you won’t have descent warrantee service, don’t be dissolutioned. I’ve never in all me years had a company back their product warrantee with such friendly correspondence and commitment to resolving an issue that wasn’t even their doing.

I’m impressed to say the least. We’ve since offered to reimburse them for their losses caused by our faulty wiring and are waiting for a response. As for the water quality this unit provides, it’s very good.

Better tast of the water. The coffiemachine live longer now. I had to buy 4 new machines in 2 years. Before i got the water filter installation. The water here is so hard. I have had it now for a year now.

And my coffiemachine works perfectly still. Another thing is. I have had problems with my ears since i was a ung boy. (Otitis) I Know it saunds crazy. But i haven had it since i got cleaner water. I allways have it 3-4 times a year.

Specialy in the Winther month. But nothing. And it must be the water. It fits with the time i have had it. S i am most happy. And plus. It gives me peace inside when i know it has been fitret. Sorry for any bad spelling.

Living in the the hot state of Florida leads to endless amount of water consumption. Prior to our Pur Pitcher set, my family went through cases of store bought water bottles every couple of days. To begin with I do not like the taste of most water, so when I started looking for a water filter that would not only remove many of the chemicals in it such as lead, I felt by far the Pur Plus was the best filtered water for me.

In addition it is also certified to reduce mercury and certain pesticides and eliminates the taste and odor of Chlorine, and in my opinion it actually makes the water taste whole a lot safer. This water Filtration System gives you up to 40 gallons (640 8 oz cups) using PUR’s filter technology and lasting up to 2 months.

On the box it tells you how to prepare a filter for use. They are easy to follow steps and it only takes several minutes to complete the process. Most of it is common sense where in you clean it well and it is dishwasher safe but do not use heated water.

Next you dry the item, line the filter up with the top of the pitcher identified as the pour tray and add cold water to the removable chamber. Pur does the rest as it uses gravity to pull the water through the filter and into the bottom of the pitcher.

Finally once I do all the steps above, then I put it on the top shelf of my refrigerator. To my delight, the water tasted great which is saying a lot from someone who avoids drinking water by itself if I can! I only wish I had tried this a long time ago.

I got this pitcher for my husband to take to work and keep in the fridge. When his company decided not to go back in-office full time, we kept it home and decided to see if our coffee would taste better with filtered water.

I know it sounds silly, but we love our coffee! He started using it in the Keurig first and we really noticed the difference in the taste and acidity. It was so much better that I didn’t even need creamer (we use half and half)! The difference was crazy and we don’t have bad tap water.

Next we tried it in the drip coffee maker. I’d been wanting to use filtered water, but filling it from our fridge’s filtered water dispenser isn’t economical as it trips the water filter replacement sensor after just a few pots.

We had the same experience with the drip coffee – so much smoother and less acidic. We’re not brewing specialty coffee either – it’s just Folgers or Yuban! We love it enough that we’re going to keep brewing with it and likely buy a larger pitcher to accommodate it.

I love that all Pur filters fit all their pitchers so I don’t have to worry about what size or model I have. They filter fairly quickly and the pitchers fit easily in my fridge. I never thought a filtered water pitcher would make that much of a difference, but WOW! If you’re a water drinker – you know not all water tastes the same and this stuff is great!.

Excellent job preassembling. This eliminates most confusion! Not sure if this is on all your products. Is that why the instructions to assemble parts that are already assembled? The pre-carbon filter has two different ends.

No information which end goes! Unless I missed it. Each fitting should have the blue retaining clips. One short. Had to buy a bag of fifty pc’s. It would have been great if the protective UV tube was installed and sealed.

1/4″ tubing lines could be longer for more flexibility when changing the filters. The discharge has a 300 flow arrow valve that sounds like air is leaking air. (N0 water issue!) This system has a booster pump.

Should create a partial drawing where the lines connect. The customer needs to understand that the tube needs to go past the O-ring inside. Don’t need any leaks. Drop the price the cost of the chrome faucet.

This will give the customer the option buying the faucet they prefer including me. Give the customer the option of other places to put part of the unit under the sink or nothing at all. Closet, crawl space or basement.

They would need to buy extra tubing. The drain line needs to be pitched when there is no pressure booster. I put ours in the basement with plenty room to install and change the filters. Thanks for letting me put in some input! Nice system Stephen Prom Wisconsin.

This was the first time I had purchased this kind of system and the first time installing it. The installation manual was confusing because some of the steps were already completed. I had to skip a few steps to get to my starting point.

I suggest you also watch the video installation provided via the QR code. I did have two leaks. One at the top of the tank because I didn’t tighten the flow switch. And the second was the washer for the UV filter, which needed to be placed over the glass.

Overall, I would highly recommend this system. If you can read and outstand a manual, then you should be able to install it, but it will probably take you all day.

Filter lasted just last three months before water tasted horrid again. Hoped it would last longer but can’t win them all. Water tasted delicious and most of all, got rid of the nasty heavily chlorinated city taste.

Hoping it got rid of the fluoride too (as advertised) but I didn’t test for it. Delicious water, great filtration system. Didn’t get five stars because I felt the filter should’ve lasted a bit longer like other filters I’ve used for same number of approximate gallons.

The weight, balance and efficacy of the pitcher has been excellent so far, no problems. And the pour is perfect.

We have the worst City Water, it even smells of chemicals when showering and can’t stand it. 🐾🐾When our pets and us have to drink it, none of us want to deal with the Chlorine smell and taste so, they weren’t getting enough water intake which is unhealthy.

We’ve been using these Epic Nano Filters and Pitcher and all of us are drinking more water and pleased with the pureness without flavor. Can’t taste or smell anything. No other filter traps the smallest unhealthiest microbes, viruses, etc.

When I purchased my Alexapure from My Patriot Supply, I purchased it with the four extra filters. It was a great deal, and I couldn’t pass it up. With all the supply issues, I decided to get another 4 pack of filters to have on hand, and then later on, I purchased another 4 filter set for backup of backup.

These filters are great. They are the best and clearly filter out 99. 9999 of the impurities in the water. We only use bottled spring water for cooking and drinking, and we even filter that. The water tastes so much better going through the Alexapure.

Care is so easy. Depending on your usage level, either every 2 weeks, or 30 days, take the filter and get a green Scotchbrite sponge and go at the surface, scuffing, which is what you want to do. Once you’ve scuffed, simply soak the filter in a bowl or jug, with the opening at the bottom facing up, and the water level below that but having the body full submersed.

Let it soak for 24 hours. This will push any trapped air out. Your filter will work without flaw. I have two+ years on my filter doing this and it works great. I was using a blue Scotchbrite, but it wasn’t doing the job as well as the green.

I have been filtering my water for over 25 years originally in a city to remove chlorination byproducts and fluoridation, and now in a rural agricultural area to remove pesticides and bacterial contamination.

Over the years I have spent many hours researching filters and systems. This is the best filter ever. Its performance data and certification stands above any other filter. In addition the Epic is extremely well designed.

It is very easy to replace. No need to turn off your water supply line. And it is self-contained. No canister to hold the filter thereby eliminating surfaces and handling that results in contamination.

As I said, Epic is the best ever.

I installed the Epic Smart Shield in an Airstream Class B RV to solve for drinking water filtration and so far it has performed great after 6 months use. Class B vans are tight on space overall and opting for water filtration on the way into the fresh water tank means storing the filter system in limited storage space.

Adding a dedicated drinking faucet to it’s tight counter space also grabs more space than desired. But using the Epic system undercounter and inline with the sink’s cold water is a great filtration option that conserves physical space.

Finding the space under counter in the tight galley of the RV was easier than identifying the needed in line adapters required. But once that trial and error exercise was resolved the install was a breeze.

The filter provides great tasting water no matter what my water source is traveling the country and the water flow and the RV water pump is not effected by its addition. When I winterize the RV I will simply remove the filter from it’s housing and store in a heated space.

I am now considering the same system for my home due to the performance enjoyed in my RV to date.

I did a lot of research and this filter impressed me with the ability to remove heavy metals plus chemical byproducts of roundup, which is in everyone’s groundwater. My husband installed it and said it was fairly straightforward – we are going to install one for our tenants as well.

It definitely makes a noticable change in the water pressure, but that’s a price I’m willing to pay. Note that it only filters cold water, not hot. Also, running the cold water through the filter seems to warm it up a bit so that I don’t get the same cold cold water out of my tap anymore.

(We live in Montana and are on a well so our water is COLD). None of these are biggies for me – just the price you pay for healthier water. Speaking of price, this filter was significantly cheaper than some other options with less certifications.

Great product but hire a knowledgeable plumber! We installed our first system when we lived in New Jersey where we had a great plumber who researched the product and read the installation instructions before starting the job.

Done right the first time. Thoroughly enjoyed salt free soft water for years. When we moved to Florida, we purchased the current version which includes a carbon filter and hired a plumber who said he knew what he was doing, but clearly did not.

This system is not a “one day job” because the carbon filter needs to be filled with water and “soak” for a minimum of 48 hours before continuing with the installation. Our plumber tried to do it all in one day, so we immediately had carbon in our water and had to quickly bypass the system, flush all of our water lines and get him back to finish the installation correctly.

Ouch, but works fine now. Last week we had our third system successfully installed because we took the time to educate our plumber in advance, emphasizing to him that it can only be done as a two-step process.

If your plumber has never installed this system, take the time to download the installation instructions, familiarize yourself with the process and insist that s/he read them thoroughly before showing up on the job.

It’s an awesome system, but make sure your plumber can read and follow instructions.

I purchased this unit as part of the Black Friday promotion. The only issue with the purchase is that both online and over the phone with customer service I was unable to use my Apple Card. I missed out on quite a few rewards dollars due to this.

Regarding the unit, the instructions to soak, flush and reset the carbon media were straight forward. I performed this process in my garage and a bonus in purchasing the self install kit is that you can utilize one of the hoses opposite of the hose bib to direct the water into your utility sink (if you have one).

I had read other reviews asking for another hose bib but this is a nice work around. I allowed the PC1000 to soak for around 10 days. I mounted and assembled the system in a mechanical room that was approximately 50 feet from my water main.

Due to this fact, I hired a plumber to run copper 50 feet to the mechanical room and 50 feet back to the water main. They built a really nice bypass at the unit as well as at the main. The bypass at the main is the same one featured in the This Old House episode where Richard installs a standalone PC600 (I think it looked smaller than the PC1000 that is included in the PSE2000 that I purchased).

After the water was connected, there was a small leak at the neck of the PC1000. We hand tightened and after observation no issues. After completing the Nature Soft soak/flush, there was no milky white water observed.

Also, maybe due to the length of the soak, I didn’t notice any gray or black water once the unit was put in service. As others have stated, it may take some time to notice the conditioned or softer water but I noticed right away that the water felt different in my hands just watching soap.

I kept a fair amount of the water prior to install (due to the plumber having the water off) and comparing taste pre and post there was a difference. I will continue observation as it was literally just hooked up a few hours ago.

The main driver of our purchase was so many sinks in our house and only being able to drink or get coffee water from one of them. The secondary driver was the scale buildup we noticed and wanting to try and mitigate that without a salt system.

I just filled my water bottle up from the basement bar sink and the water tastes as good as it did from the fridge filter before.

I took the time to do my research. seeking alternatives to softener & filtration systems for well water. I settled on Pelican for several reasons: 1) American made. Although a few components are made in Canada, the majority of this product is made in the USA.

2) Long term maintenance costs are manageable. The cost for the system up front was a bit higher than other similar systems, where Pelican won out is in the long term maintenance. Compared to other systems I’ve found that may be cheaper up front, you basically have to replace all the components every 5 years or so! 3) The sales person was knowledgeable, admitted when he didn’t have an answer, researched and followed up with the answers, and worked to give me the best price around.

4) While installing, I found the directions simple, yet detailed. The install was pretty straight forward and logical, and the end results were clean and polished (quite literally!). 5) So far the performance is as I hoped it would be.

No spotting on the dishes, showers don’t feel “slimy”, and clothes wash clean and white with out any tangible hardness buildup (really important for cloth diapers and towels!). If you are looking for an all-in-one system, then this is it!.

I like the concept, however I disliked a few of the components. One of the plastic snap rings broke, and the plastic on the male threads for the bypass valve were of low quality. I realize the filter is relatively inexpensive but would expect more durable components to make a smoother install.

Thankfully I prefabbed the bypass piping the day before my install, had I broke and damaged parts day of I would have lost money on the job. I will say customer service was good and they got me replacement parts next day.

One more thing I did not notice a pressure release on the sediment filter. That being said the customer is very happy with the water quality provided by the filter. One other thing I would recommend is better literature for these units I did not realize the bypass valve did not come with 90 degree fittings so I had to use the straights.

All in all after installing this I would likely install this unit again per the application.

I have purchased this filter from Amazon and Lowes, and the packaging is the same from both places. An UNSEALED plastic clamshell that slides into a form-fitting purple and black cardboard cut-out. All you need to do to open it is slide the clamshell out of the cardboard, and open the clamshell (it doesn’t even “snap” close, it just folds open).

It takes 2 seconds to open, and can be closed nearly as quickly. It provides absolutely ZERO tamper protection. Someone could buy one of these, change out their filter, put the old filter in, and take it back to the store and no one would have any way of knowing it has been used/tampered with and they could then sell it to someone else.

Same with Amazon: someone could tamper with it or exchange it for a used one, and return the tainted/old one back to Amazon. It not only presents a challenge for the retailer, but potential danger to the customer who unknowingly purchases a tampered/used product.

Why are there so many complaints? Let’s make this very simple to understand. Thus is not a very complicated water filter, u just do what ur supposed to at the beginning of the flush. I have never since I got my fridge any complications, with the water filter If ur looking to get a refund for the times u complain, then this is not the filter for you.

Go out and buy filtered water. Give businesses a break from this Pandemic that we’ve all gone through together unless u were in a different pandemic. Why do people like to give hard times to others,just follow the instructions and it will be an easy sail from there.

Go slow and don’t give up ,because people nowadays like to give up on everything. Give businesses a break or drink ur regular water out of the tap. Stop complaining I’ve never had a hard time with mine.
