20 Best Filters For Well Water (2023 Updated)

This is long. Read or skim through it for some sage advice. Went in big financially, on this system (couple grand). We chose the salt free water conditioner, UV water purification option, and the whole house filtration system.

Plus also opted for the pre filter and post filter replacement program where they ship you filters in time to meet manufacturers replacement schedule. 1st issue, if you live in the 95125 zip code and surrounding San Jose, CA area, this system will NOT significantly reduce hard water deposits on your appliances and fixtures.

example: I have the Costco glass electric hot water kettle which I coincidentally bought brand new when we installed the Aquasana whole house system. The kettle has continually required once a week cleaning with vinegar to remove calcified hard deposits across the bottom of the kettle (heating element), and I can visibly see the deposits floating in the kettle water, after water is boiled/heated.

My system is less than two years old, I noticed the hard water build up in the glass kettle within the first two weeks of using the system. Talk about a blow to the ego. “Yes, I just wasted thousands of dollars on a system that doesn’t work”.

In my opinion, you are better off calling around to local plumbers and getting recommendations for water softeners known to work in your region. 2nd issue with the system is that I noticed a gradual reduction is household water pressure, especially when more than one water source is utilized.

Or, when toilets are flushed and then you go to use the sink to wash your hands; you get a very noticeable drop in water volume from the sink fixture. I initially dismissed it out of hubris, but it is undeniable now and can’t be ignored.

What is causing the calcium and the gradual water pressure drop? Apparently, in the case of mineral deposits, the salt-free system/product technology has the capability to reduce the size of the mineral deposits so that they cannot bond to one another and it flows through the pipes in microscopic form, but when you reheat the water like, say in a 50-gallon water heater, tankless water heater, dishwasher, or electric water kettle (insert your own appliance here) the deposits reform and can become hard deposits.

(exactly what was the point in selling me this product when I stated to the sales guy that one of my specific goals was to prevent reduced product life caused by hard water deposit damage to my high-dollar appliances?) I don’t have the energy to discuss the water pressure issue with customer support to find out that “this is normal operation”, as I was told the calcium build up is.

So, the big question. What prompted me to buy this product? What tipped the scale in their favor? well, not having my own personal experience with this or any softner/filtration system, I went with Aquasana because I noticed that a prominent home builder in our area installed the same system I bought in some teardown/rebuilds in my neighborhood.

Then I talked to one of the home owners, and he said he was pretty happy with it (found out later –too late, later– that his wife is NOT happy with it. ), after talking to him I called and spoke with the company’s sales advisors and explained my goals: reduce calcium deposits and eliminate metals and chlorine from my drinking and bathing water.

The sales dept was upfront about the fact that this system (or any system for that matter), cannot guarantee 0% hard water, but they did promise to deliver a significant reduction in minerals from the municipality provided water to my household faucets, and removal of metals and chlorine after Aquasana treatment.

I have no clue what that math turned out to be, and it doesn’t matter since the proof of hard water is visible in the water. Bottom line, don’t make the same mistake I did. The next system I will install comes with high recommendations from plumbers and customers who live in the region where I live.

Do your due diligence and don’t just go with what the contractors are putting in. Often times, they are motivated more by keeping their costs low than by system performance. Ask to talk to the local plumber’s resident expert on home water treatment systems.

If the plumber you contact doesn’t have a resident expert, call the next plumber on your list. Hope this is helpful for folks living in my region to make an informed decision.

When purchasing a system Aquasana needs to do a better job of explaining how water conditioners work (versus water softeners). We live in Clearwater, FL, which is an extremely hard water area. We purchased a water conditioner in April 2021.

Within weeks there was noticeable scaling and mineral build-up on all surfaces. Water spotting on glasses and dishware as well as the shower glass doors. Sinks, tubs, and toilets were showing signs of scaling and extreme water spotting.

We contacted customer service and the representative advised us that we needed to use special cleaners designed to remove this type of build-up, which we did. Ultimately having a water conditioner ended up costing us much more in time, cleaning product, and unsightly appearance.

In short, it was a pain having to deal with the result of conditioned water. The problem got much worse and after 6 months we removed this system and went back to a water softening system. I contacted Aquasana and told them of my experience, they apologized but said I had gone past the 90 return period there was nothing they could do.

Technically Aquasana is correct, but it’s not right. I’m posting this to issue a warning. While their system may condition water, what comes out leaves all surfaces stained with water spots and scale build-up.

If you live in an area of extremely hard water, I recommend avoiding the Aquasana Water conditioner, because it doesn’t work. And to Aquasana – while you are technically correct in not offering any financial refund for a system that leaves unsightly residue surfaces without extra cost and effort, you now have an extremely dissatisfied customer, and I’ll continue to post this is any relevant review site.

I had to order a dual system because, per Aquasana, our home was too big for a single well-water system and the pressure would be reduced too far. Whatever, I was excited to have super-water. When it arrived, we had our plumber on standby – which is difficult due to everyone being crazy busy.

Unfortunately, the order was wrong and we were missing parts for the dual install and Aquasana added parts that I didn’t want/need. Then they charged me more to ship the missing parts. So, now I’m annoyed.

Of course, the plumber can’t get back for weeks. Once finally installed, I was excited all over again – however – there was zero discernible change in our water quality. It still tastes like “tap water” so we’re still using a Brita filter and there is absolutely no difference in the shower experience.

No softer hair and skin or less water spots on the chrome. It’s 100% the same – with less water pressure. I have no idea if there are less cysts, bacteria or “heavy metals” that Aquasana claims to remove – but the real-world experience has actually been a negative impact on our home’s water due to the reduced flow at the taps.

Other than looking cool in the basement, I would absolutely not recommend this system and will likely be changing it out once these filters are done. Wife = not happy.

I have a well water system and the water quality was not that great. After getting it tested I purchased this filter system to improve the water and what a difference it has made. They offer many types of filters so make sure to test your water to ensure you are purchasing the correct ones for your system.

Our water was not very hard but the taste was awful due the sulphur content. During install I did over-tighten the filters which caused the gaskets to break. After contacting ISpring support Brian was able to assist me very promptly and send me new gaskets for the filters.

Their customer support is awesome.

My wife and I recently moved into our first home and immediately could tell we had very hard water. If the hot water ran long enough we could even smell the chlorine. We installed this and immediately noticed a difference.

Forehead is no longer flakey after a shower, hair feels softer and no more bad smell from hot water. Big time shoutout to Brian who followed up with me after the purchase to make sure I was properly registered for the warranty coverage!.

We installed this filter on coming water line prior to water heater and water softener. I will do a water test again to see how improvement water quality. The system work perfectly and I already installed a second set of filter in another house.

There is small leak at three cut out ball valves’ handles. Tighten down the stems that fixed the leak but one is not. It possibly need to repack it. I will contact technical group for advise.

Bought entire filter system and installed end of Feb 2018, with hopes filter would last the advertised 10,000 gal (approx 1yr). The system works great and def improved water quality, and flow but after 9months had to be replaced.

Now we are a family of 3, so can’t see it possible to of used 10,000 gal of water in 9 months. If lasted a year, would of been 5 star rating!.

I had this AP902 whole house filter installed when we were plumbing my house. It works great. I have since replaced the filter with AP910R cartridge several times. The change takes about 15 minutes and is very easy if you have the filter plumbed as Aqua-Pure suggests.

A great filter, and lasts for over a year depending on the size of your family. Price spread over a year is less than $8. 50 per month.

Overall this is a very good filter. I would have given it 5 stars had I not experienced some of the same issues that others have posted. My pressure into the house is set to 75psi. we have never perceived a problem with pressure drop at the shower/faucet even when multiple people are using showers and doing dishes and/or laundry at the same time.

I too have experienced challenges with changing the filter, it is difficult to change until you figure out how it should be done. If you don’t release all of the pressure in the canister (red button on the side), it’s almost impossible to open.

If someone is changing it for you and it’s always difficult then it has either been over tightened (from the last change), the pressure was not all released or the ‘O’ ring seal was not properly lubricated.

If the correct silicone lubricant (made especially for rubber seals in water 100% of the time, $4-5 from hardware or pool supply store) is used each time, the water tight seal is created much earlier so the canister doesn’t have to been “over tightened”.

This also allows for the canister to be removed much easier the next time you change the filter. I know the directions say to change the filter every 3 months, I usually change it 5-6 months (sorry GE).

we live in LA county. water is full of junk, minerals, chemical smells and other stuff who knows what it could be. the house has copper throughout so the flavor of the water at the tap is absolutely nothing.

Have had the whole home filter GXWH35F for over ten years. I change the filter (FXHTC) out every three months. It is usually somewhat difficult to loosen filter and remove. I only reinstall them hand tight so I assume water pressure makes it tighten up over three months.

I support the pipes and tap on the filter removal tool handle with a hammer. After this initial loosening , I am able to remove by hand. I once had a slow leak from the red button to release air, but it resolved itself.

However , since this part cannot be replaced by itself , I purchased a replacement filter housing as a backup.

I’ve been using this product for 6 years. It works very well for me. I don’t understand why the low reviews. It is your ability to get to the filter that is your issue. Not the filter. Also, if a plumber can’t figure it out.

Get a new plumber. I’ve never had a filtration system before. I’ve never had trouble changing it, but, and this is the important part, look for a little red button and push it. You have to release the pressure before you can get it apart.

I had a much larger filter inline with more filtration that yielded greater flow and pressure. This filter greatly reduces my water pressure.

I’ve had this system installed since June and it does everything it was advertised to do! I had about. 79ppm iron, among other things, and it’s all gone now. Before I bought this system, I was using those 4.

5″x20″ cartridge iron filters but they exhausted within a month due to my iron range. At 80-100 dollars a piece, I decided it would be more cost effective in the long run to go with a system like this, and based on its performance, that will certainly be true.

I do still use a 4. 5″x20″ cartridge filter for sediment before the springwell system to protect it and the tank head from the bigger sediment from my well. I also recently installed the springwell chemical injection system before this filter to handle iron bacteria I had in my well.

I have a new construction house and I didn’t want any of that setting itself up in my plumbing so I turned to Springwell after having such a good experience with this filter. Similarly, I am very happy with the chemical injection system.

It comes with very high quality components and the price is competitive. I priced out the pieces individually myself and couldn’t really beat springwell’s price. On top of all of this, their sales people and techs are very quick to respond to questions and concerns.

I installed my Springwell Whole House Filtration System about a month ago and the difference in my homes water is Phenomenal. The water straight from the tap tastes as good as the water from my RO Drinking Water System.

The water in the toilet bowl is crystal clear. That’s right, the water in the toilet bowl is sparkling clear. Previously I installed a water softener and an RO Drinking water system. The water still tasted funky and was murky in color.

Not any more. I installed the Springwell Whole House Filtration System and I now have the best water I have ever seen or tasted. The spots in the sinks are gone. The ring in the toilet bowl is gone. The order and chlorine taste is gone.

Far and away, the best money I ever spent on anything for my home. I did a lot of research before buying and spent a lot of time reading web sites and independent reports and I can tell you without hesitation that Springwell is the best, The BEST system on the market today.

BTW, I installed it myself in less than an hour. I simply disconnected the line going to my water softener and connected it to the inlet side of the Springwell filter. Out of the filter and into the sediment filter and then back to the water softener.

2 – 24″ flex lines, 3 – 3″ nipples and a roll of tape less than $50. 00 and an hour of my free labor. Result – THE BEST TASTING WATER ANYWHERE. Don’t hesitate, buy one and see for yourself.

Springwell came highly recommended by a friend, so I contacted them. I ended up purchasing the largest system for our house which included the 1M gallon water filtration plus the salt based water softener.

The system was around $2500 and arrived to my new house within days of purchasing. The instructions were clear that I need to soak the filter for 48 hours to activate the carbon, then rinse. So I did that and called a buddy for installation (used to work for Rainsoft).

He installed the system and tested the water. Said the softener was doing what it was supposed to do, and he did a chlorine and contaminate test, and was satisfied. After he left, I read through the book and saw where it said to regenerate the system, so I went to manually start the cycle and water sprayed from everywhere on the softener head.

I couldn’t figure out where the water was coming from! I called Springwell and described the issue. They next day aired a part, which was easy enough for me to replace, but once again, water sprayed.

I was transferred to the Vice President. Having dealt with SO MANY companies in my life that tried to wiggle and get out of providing customer service, I was immediately defensive. All that changed when I talked to Chris.

He told me they would do whatever it took to correct the situation. He overnighted me the whole electronic head under warranty, and offered to pay for whatever water damage had taken place at the outlet when water sprayed into it tripping the GFCI (I initially thought it burned the outlet, which I found out wasn’t the case).

He told me he would pay parts and labor on everything and that his only concern was making our system work the way it was supposed to. When the head arrived, I installed it myself with a wrench and a screwdriver; very straight forward.

It works like a charm now and has for 3 weeks. Overall, I am very satisfied with this company; they have earned my business and my praise.

I built a brand new house with a brand new well, without doing to much research I settled on the salf free conditioner system that includes the pre filter, salt free conditioner, rhino filter, post filter, and the UV light.

All was well so we thought, but our tubs were turning orange, the water smelt like wet dog, and we were having build up on our faucets (white). Our skin was starting to dry out and our laundry was turning orange.

So we had a company come out and test our water before the system and after the system. Our hardness before the system was 25 and the hardness after the system was also 25. The only thing our system was doing was lowering the ppm of the iron (orange stains) by 1ppm, all the other tests concluded that this system was doing absolutely nothing.

(yes we change the pre filter every 2 weeks and the post filter every 12 weeks). Long story short we ended up having to buy a iron filter and a salt softner from another company to take care of the water and now its perfect, no iron detected post system and hardness of 0 post system, no more smell no more orange tubs and toilets.

I decided to leave the aquasana system in place and run the new system downstream of it for no reason other than the pre and post filters were already installed and give me a peace of mind for particulates.

I kept the UV light downstream of the new system and is the final stage of my system.

I installed this system about a month ago. I had a plumber do the pre-plumbing and I did the rest. The installation instructions were very clear. The only issue I had is that the connections to the pre-filter, which are metal into plastic, leaked when I used teflon tape, even after redoing them.

I called support and they suggested using pipe dope that works with metal and PVC and that worked. I also added a mount to strap down the tank, a necessity here in earthquake prone California. (Amazon carries them.

) I waited a month before writing this review. Although the change in the water hardness isn’t measurable using standard test strips, it is definitely noticeable in use. Soap rinses more quickly in the shower and in washing dishes.

There is little or no spotting on glassware and dishes run through the dishwasher, in sinks throughout the house, and on shower walls and glass. And the water just feels better. We live in Santa Rosa, CA, where the city water is relatively hard.

We moved here two years ago from Oakland, where the water is pristine. I was loathe to get a traditional water softening system because of the environmental impact of using so much salt, plus these systems are complex, expensive, and require ongoing maintenance.

My research led me to the TAC-based process, and to FutureSoft based on third party reviews. I’m very happy with the product and the service and highly recommend it.

Our Springwell well water whole house system with softener arrived on time. The tanks are heavy and require a hand truck or two people. The deliver company dropped one of the tanks but no apparent damage occurred despite the packaging showing signs of trauma.

The system is fairly easy to assemble. The video online shows the easiest method of installation but you may need to think outside the box to accommodate any special nuances in your home. If you’re using PVC I recommend you are thoroughly familiar with PVC piping applications or you could experience leaks.

If you assemble everything correctly you should be fine. Shark bite fittings work great albeit a little costly. For DIY jobs, Shark bite is still cheaper than hiring a plumber. The resulting purification and softening was immediate following the first run through the cycles per the instructions.

Residuals in the house plumbing took about 24 hours to completely evacuate and by the second day the entire house was producing pure water in every tap. The rotten egg smell was gone, the yellowish tint was gone, the chalky hardness was gone.

I researched systems for three years before making this purchase. This system had always been at the top of my list but because it is expensive I had been hoping to find a cheaper equivalent. Believe or not, there are systems that cost two or three times of this system.

And obviously, there are systems costing a fraction of the springwell system. If this system last as long as promised it will be a worthwhile investment. We are very pleased with the results. Our skin is softer, clothes are cleaning, and no more stains in the tubs, sinks, and toilets.

Coffee tastes better too! Would I recommend this system to friends? Certainly.

We Bought a whole house (WH) water system which includes a salt free softener. I also bought a Reverse Osmosis System (RO) for under the sink. The installation instructions for the RO system are terrible, and for the WH system very marginal And don’t buy the installation kit for the WH system, that would have been useless.

Your connection needs will be very dependent on your situation. And the price they want you to pay is probably three times what you could buy what you need at the local hardware or plumbing store. The WH system was tricky to install, but not a big deal.

However, the Reverse Osmosis instructions were a nightmare. And when I called about the RO installation, what I was told was useless or a waste of time. For example, I called to say that I could not find 5.

25% percent unscented liquid bleach to clean the RO holding tank per the Reverse Osmosis System Installation instructions. I looked in several local cities trying to find 5. 25%. I could find 4% and 6% and 7%, but couldn’t find 5 1/4%.

So when I called I was told any non scented bleach would work. Great. So, I ramp back up to finish the project and per the instructions saying to pour 1/2 tsp directly into the tank I tried to. It literally says “POUR.

” That didn’t work. The tank neck was blocked. So I called again. I actually first called the manufacturer of the RO system and was told “we don’t deal with end users. ” Shocking. When I reached SpringWell and explained the situation I was told that 1) you don’t have to use bleach to clean the tank (now you tell me? Would have been great for you to tell me the first time), and, 2) if you do use bleach you have to have a way to inject the bleach into the tank under pressure because there is a membrane in the tank neck.

So, Springwell knows this, but I guess chooses to do nothing about the documentation. It is not shocking that the branding for the company making the RO system can only be found in one place, buried on the bottom of page 13 of the Installation, Operation, and Maintenance manual: “Manufactured FOR Nelsen Corporation BY MICROFILTER Co, ltd.

Bought this model because it has a clear housing and it was available locally. I used four wraps of teflon tape on the 1” adaptor instead of the 2 1/2 that was writen in the Installation Guide, No Leaks ! This has been installed for three days (8/18/22) so I cant speak for longevity.

I could live without the battery operated timer, it’s not hard to write down the date plus thats why I went with a clear housing.

I am using 2 of these. I bought one at lowes and I think they were about 40 dollars. I needed better filtration so I put a second inline filter to give me better filtration to filter the sand and other things out of the water.

The first filter is a wound filter and the second is a carbon or charcoal filter. I don’t know for sure but it has black particles in it. It was about the cheapest thing that would hold standard filters.

I bought this to filter the water going into a new hot water heater. When I removed the old water heater I found the shut-off valve to the tank was partially plugged with sediment and the tank had dirty water coming from the drain valve.

Only four stars due to shipping, need to improve packaging, chrome covers for filters are dented in several places and come crooked on bases which you can somewhat level if you take them off and replace them on tanks.

I have yet to completely install units so not able to see results yet. Overall appearance not impressive but ok and hopefully it will make improvements to my water. The system comes very basic and you will need extensive parts to complete job, so keep in mind of location in regards to incoming water line.

Great product. It would have been nice if the company comes up with easy to assemble kits. Also the tanks by designed cannot be kept in same line. They need to come up with a byepass valve assembly that should facilitate the linear arrangment of the tanks.

This is just a minor feedback.

I installed the system myself (DIY non-contractor, moderate difficulty) which helped me to see the quality of the components esp. the connections. Within a short period of time, our city water began to look, smell and taste much better.

Dishes and fixtures are cleaner. The amount of new scale buildup has already diminished. Never expected to see so much improvement so soon.

After using this filter for several weeks I thought I would share my experience on here because reading the reviews helped me figure out my own problem. First of all the well installer chose the cheapest filter on the market.

I heat/cool/ and irrigate my trees and fescue yard with the well water. On a really hot day we peak at about 8000 gallons per day and clogged the $19 filter weekly. The Honeywell filter eliminated our problem.

It is built to last forever. I posted it on you-tube and have shared it with co-workers. They loved it because they have a well serving a multi-family rental unit in the mountains that needed monthly service.

Changing the filter was very difficult for them and this filter made their life much better. Thanks !.

I manage an 82 acre camp and retreat center with 6 rental cottages, dorm, and certified retail food kitchen. Recently we had to replace our well and main water lines and install new pressure tank and treatment system.

We use a rust treatment tank, water softener, and a UV system with 5 micron prefilter. We made the decision to install the 100 micron sediment filter upstream from the other treatment equipment. After setting for auto backwash every 8 hours we came back the next day to find the sediment filter 90% clogged.

It was easy to take apart and clean and put back into service. We now autoflush every 15 minutes (flush takes about 8 seconds) and it does an amazing job. I hate to think of all that gunk clogging our system.

The several contractors involved are so impressed that they wanted the info to order one for their own residences. Our system has settled down but we retained the 15 minute setting to insure optimum performance.

I have been having a horrible problem with sediment from our well so I installed this filter right at the main to our house. It does do a good job using the manual purge but occasionally the filter will need manual cleaning which is very easy and can be done in a matter of minutes.

A helpfull hint is to ocassionally shut the supply down and let the homes back pressure purge the system from the inside out. That works great for me.

This is my 5th whole house system, so please understand that means I have spent $20,000 on Pelican equipment over the last 15 years. They used to blow me away with their customer service, just unbelievably good.

I haven’t needed a new system for almost 4 years (I move often and own 3 homes). The sales rep was absolutely as stellar as they always have been. Robert gets 5 stars. Everyone else gets ZERO! They missed two parts on the shipping and we had to call repeatedly and hold 15 minutes every time and now the package shows delivered and it is not here and I have ben here all morning.

I imagine Pelican is still about the best water filtration product on the planet, but if Pentair thinks they will ever get another penny of my money, they are mistaken. I do not think they will care though or I would not have been on hold for 15 m minutes repeatedly after just spending $4000 for the 5th time with a company.

I bought a Pelican WF-10 Iron/Manganese Filter & Salt-Free Softener whole house system and installed it about 6 weeks ago. Our house is on well water, and we had issues with water hardness, iron staining of all of our bathroom fixtures and appliances like our dishwasher and washing machine.

We also had an issue with a sulfur smell in our water that turned off guests staying at our place, and we had always needed to use a filter pitcher or similar to get ok tasting drinking water. I received the system and spent about 8 hours overall installing it after soaking the carbon media for a couple days – everything went smoothly and the directions provided were great.

As soon as I finished installation and put the system online, the difference in water quality was a night and day difference. The taste of the water from any faucet was immediately changed and tasted great.

My family is still getting used to the fact they can fill up cups from any faucet in the house. Also gone is the sulfur smell in the shower or faucets. The biggest change is NO RUST STAINS in our toilets, bathtubs, showers, and sinks.

The dishs in the dishwasher are also noticably cleaner. There is still a slight film on glasses but that is easily wiped off. before they were just cloudy. A little bit of rinse aid in the dishwasher fixes that issue now too.

Overall we are VERY impressed and happy with this purchase. The purchase experience was also very good with some great support on the phone for helping make the purchase decision and followup through delivery.

I would recommend anyone that has poor home water quality issues purchase a Pelican water softening and filtration system.

I have been very satisfied with the system. It replaced a salt-based system and I am thrilled not to have to pay for salt or lug those heavy bags around any longer. The system will pay for itself without the cost of salt in about 5 years.

The water is different from the salt-based system so do not expect it be the same. The only issue I have with the new system is I had to use a different detergent in my dishwasher, or I do have spotting with the new water.

Pelican has recommendations on what detergent to use and there is a ton of info on the web about saltless softeners and what dishwasher detergent to use. My system did come with a defective component and it had to be replaced.

Pelican was going to send out the replacement part overnight and it ended up being shipped ground. Pelican shipped out another replacement part overnight apologized and provide a discount to help cover the cost of my installer to come back out.

I do recommend using an approved installer. I would not have been able to remove the old system and replace by self. I recommend using Pelican for referrals to installers in your area.

We’ve had the Pelican WF4 Iron & Manganese Filter with an added Retention Filter for almost 2 months now. Customer service before our purchase was great – very helpful in making sure the system would work with our water characteristics & choosing the products we needed.

Installation went ok. The plumbing part was fine but there were several sections that could have been more clear; and we didn’t receive any instructions for adding the retention tank to the system. We did contact Customer Service and they sent us a diagram of how to install the retention tank.

I believe the main problem we are having now is dialing in the chlorine solution. We tested the water almost 10 times when we first installed the system and got a different chlorine reading each time.

A couple weeks later we were still having iron staining so we tested again and had to re-adjust the solution ratio. We’re still having issues – looks like manganese and maybe a small amount of iron residue so I don’t think the system is sufficiently filtering.

We plan on having our water re-tested by a lab. Part of our problem is that we have a pressure tank and a retention tank – the instructions for dialing in the solution do not account for those and I’m not sure running our faucet for 15 minutes is cycling fresh water through the system yet it seems very wasteful to just keep running the water for hours.

I’m also not confident in how accurate the chlorine test strips are. There are no instructions about what the starting ratio on the solution pump should be – our knob got moved prior to install so that could be contributing to our problem as well.

However, I spoke with many companies prior to choosing this one and it was the best I could find. I definitely wouldn’t recommend the others based on lack of information, insufficient products, or terrible customer service.

Do you WF4 system does a great job of removing the iron and manganese from our well water. It was easy to set up & install. I am dissatisfied with the chemical injector pump, though. Whenever water flows through the system the pump makes a relatively loud clicking noise (roughly every 3 seconds).

This is of particular dissatisfaction because the mechanical room. m shares a wall with one of the bedrooms in the house. The click noice travels into the adjacent bedroom. I placed rubber gaskets between the bracket and the wall, but it did little to no noise dampening.

The wall is already insulated, so I am on sure what else can be done. In the event that at electrical pump is ever developed or a click-free injector becomes available I would gladly purchase it for my system.

I bought this system about a month ago because I had a bad iron problem and it was turning everything orange. I did research for a year trying to find what I thought would be the best filtration system for me.

So I went with pelican and this system has been great. Clothes are not being stained any more, toilets are staying clear, and tubs are staying clear. So far we love it and I would recommend pelican to anyone who asks my honest opinion.

These types of filters are basically required for all new High Efficiency Boilers. Approximately once per year they need to be changed out. The process is pretty easy, but make sure you relieve the downstream pressure before you try to release the cartridge.

If it’s pressurized, you’ll have a tough time getting the cartridge out. First close the upstream valve, then bleed out the pressure by opening a faucet, then close the downstream valve and then remove the filter cartridge.

I had some rather high arsenic in my well water: 0. 009, which is just under the actionable limit – so I got this whole house water filter to reduce it, and now there is no arsenic detected at all in the retest, which is fantastic! It also reduced uranium from 5.

6 to 1. 9 (limit is 30). Haven’t retested any of the others since they were all fine before the filter – I got this primarily to address the arsenic. This filter got the thumbs up from my friend who manages the public water supply of an extremely affluent town in Connecticut.

Highly recommend this filter. Great tasting water, unlike reverse osmosis, I hear, which affects the taste since it takes all of the minerals out. You won’t regret this purchase. Only downside is I can’t imagine installing this without the help of a plumber and the replacement filters are super expensive, but they last a long time, and you get what you pay for.

Definitely get a water meter – I got mine from Flows. com – so you don’t replace the filters too soon, given that they are so expensive.

A great pro of this system is the silver-infused pleated media that will allow producing water without bacteria ! other machines weren’t having that at this price ..
