20 Best Filter For Tap Water (2023 Updated)

I’ve bought two of these filters over the past year, first the plastic one, then the chrome one. They have both failed in the same fashion. Water will begin leaking and spraying underneath the plastic collar that connects to the faucet.

This isn’t an issue with the seal with the faucet, the water comes from under the collar. At first I thought the problem was the rubber washer, but you can’t buy just a replacement, you have to buy an entire new unit.

So I did. The new unit failed after about 3 months of normal use. In an attempt to reduce the leak, I tried to tighten the collar a little bit more by hand, when I did this the plastic connector that holds the collar to the unit broke, and the entire thing snapped in two rendering it unusable.

Brita seems to have purposefully designed a system with weak parts at the point of highest stress, ensuring that their products will break quickly and you will be forced to purchase another. Very frustrating that I wasted my money on this company twice.

I purchased the faucet filter system for my new apartment. I didn’t want to refill a Brita pitcher everyday, but the tap water tasted awful without a filter. The system was a game changer for 8 months, but even after replacing the filters on time, the system no longer functions as smoothly.

The knob to turn from “filtered” to “unfiltered” was easy to switch for the first two weeks, but then it got very difficult to move the knob and it makes a creaking noise. After eight months the whole system started leaking.

When I run the tap, no matter what the knob is set to, water comes out of both holes. This means the water pressure is low when washing dishes, and it takes FOREVER to fill a glass of water. Will I be buying another one? Yeah.

Am I happy about it? No. I’m quite upset that I purchased such a large pack of replacement filters, because if I hadn’t I would definitely find a different system made by a different company.

I bought my filter about a year ago (?) because I was going through coffee machines two or three times a year because of mineral deposit build up. I also have two cats that drink filtered water ONLY! My coffee machine has been spotless and working great since I got the filter and both of my cats are drinking more water.

YAY! My only complaint is that my filter leaks like crazy! At first, it was ‘spraying’ water at the attachment and I had to wiggle it to get it realigned. A few days later and it started up again. My son-in-law removed it and reinstalled it and it worked great for about a month, then started spraying again.

Now, when I turn it on ‘filter’, 50% of the water comes out of the filter and 50% comes out through the tap. UGH! I have always been very careful to not use the filter to move the faucet left and right.

I live alone so, I am the only one who uses it unless my daughter and son-in-law are here. They have the same filter at their home and treat it with care BUT, their filter leaks too! My son-in-law got so fed up adjusting theirs that he finally fixed it with duct tape! It looks like crap but it works! LOL.

It is frustrating that it leaks so much! I have been dealing with it but have also been considering tossing it in the trash and buying a new one in hopes it functions better because I REALLY like the way it filters the water.

The only reason I would get another Brita is the price but, I have been looking at other brands. reading reviews, talking with a couple people I know who have ‘other’ filters, but can’t come to a decision.

Do I spend money on a filter that will probably leak after a few months of use, or do I go with one I am unfamiliar with and hope for the best? Has anyone else had an issue with theirs leaking a LOT? I need help!.

When we moved out to a rural property, we had to dig a new well. The water was really good except it tested positive for arsenic at 0. 014 mg/L. EPA limit for public systems is 0. 010 mg/L. So we installed the OptimH2O Reverse Osmosis system.

Had it tested again last month and the arsenic level was <0. 001 mg/L. One caveat, the Aquasana owner's manual states: "There are two forms of arsenic: pentavalent arsenic (As(V)) and trivalent arsenic (As(III)).

In well water, arsenic may be pentavlent, trivalent, or a combination of both. Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment systems do not remove trivalent arsenic from water very well. RI systems are very effective at removing pentavalent arsenic.

” So if you have an arsenic problem, make sure you get your water tested for arsenic speciation (our county health department did it) and talk with Aquasana about your results. A couple of things about installation: 1) If you have a well like me, you need to make sure the pressure switch is set high enough (at least 40 psi) for water to make it thru all the filters.

2) I installed it on the basement wall instead of under the kitchen sink. That required making some custom brackets to attach to the foundation wall, and buying some longer connecting tubing at the hardware store.

I enjoy this kind of thing, but its not for everybody. The big advantage for me is its very easy to change the filters. I can stand and work shoulder level instead of crouching down and working under the sink.

Also, you’re bound to spill some water or get leaks when changing filters, which necessitates cleanup under the sink. But in my basement it simply runs down to the floor drain and I walk away. Only negatives I can see are: 1) water flow is significantly slower than a regular faucet, but we quickly got used to it.

If you don’t like to wait each time, you can fill a pitcher and keep it in the fridge. 2) audible gurgles at the faucet when system is recharging, not a big deal for us but may annoy some 3) leaks after changing filters.

took me a couple of tries and some food-grade lubricant on the gaskets to get rid of the oozing. Overall I am very pleased. Thanks Aquasana for making my water safe.

We have a Corian countertop, so we had a plumber drill the hole and install the system. In retrospect we might have been able to do it ourselves, but wanted to make sure it was done right. After the plumbers worked on it for two hours, we spent another two hours on the phone with Aquasana support, who were very helpful.

This was because the plumbers didn’t adjust the filters right so that water flowed through them – they were slightly too tight at first. Then there five different leaks at the tube junctures because the plumbers didn’t push the tubes all the way in… even though it says so clearly in the instructions.

They had to come back later because there was a final leak that they had caused – by unknowingly crimping the tube that goes to the faucet. We also had to remove a faucet plate for the main sink faucet, and didn’t know that they sell smaller ones that just cover the sink faucet hole (we had one that covered both holes side by side.

) We also had the plumber install a soap dispenser in one of the pre-drilled holes. Now that the system works and there are no leaks I can say that we’re happy with it overall. The water tastes good, though a bit different than the water we were used to (Primo water in 5 gallon jugs), and the pressure has been just fine.

The pressure tank definitely holds enough for two people for drinking water. We haven’t had to use it for cooking much, yet, so I’m curious to see how much the tank holds when using it for that.

The water is very good with the RO system, which was an upgrade to the last three filter Aquasauna system. Convenience rules the day! Even though I am able to lift the 40 lb water bottles, it was a pain to deal with.

The installation manual is excellent, but unless you are handy, have it done professionally. Otherwise it is a real study and time consuming as an install. My handyman installed it and made mistakes, which were correctable.

I am not sure if the top of the line RO filter system is quite as good as the bottled water companies, but it is pretty close, and far cheaper to operate. I have been an Aquasauna customer for several years and give their customer service high marks!.

The water filtration system was extremely easy to install. I did a before and after test and WOW what a difference. The city water looks slightly brown in comparison to the filtered and tastes awful.

The filtered water is really refreshing and tastes amazing. I definitely recommend investing if you’re looking for a water filtration system.

I don’t have anything to say about the water quality, but the spigot being fixed in one place is only good for filling a glass or tumbler. I needed to be able to fill bottles and cookware and you cannot do that because there is no clearance for anything larger than a glass.

I tried hanging it over the edge of the sink but there still wasn’t enough clearance to place a bottle or pot beneath it. Also the water hose that attaches to the faucet is made of very stiff inflexible material and did not drape nicely over the faucet as the one that I owned previously did.

It needs to be more pliable.

Soooo, I was buying the gallons of Crystal spring water and carrying them up to my 4 floor apartment. Too much work. My partner insisted on installing this countertop unit instead of a Circle unit due to not having to drill the existing pipes and countertop.

It works.

This is my third filter in five months. The light stopped working on the first one within a month and Walmart replaced it. Three days ago the light stopped working in the replacement. I only purchased this third one because I had purchased filters and it’s too late to return them.

If this one goes out in two months, which it probably will, I’ll be writing the company. My advice: if you are looking for any type of longevity buy a different brand.

I am obsessed with my Britta. I always used my pitcher but it became very dreading when I had to fill it up and wait for my water to get cold. The process was very blah. So when the the pandemic hit I had just had a newborn and water was another thing that was flying off the shelves so I invested in this as well as another pitcher so that I wouldn’t have to worry about not finding water for myself and children.

This is a game changer. I love it 👌 ten out of ten recommend. And I love that theirs a light that tells you when you need to replace the filter.

Got replacement filter on 12/1/2021. Been using faucet filter system 10+ years now. Filtered water tastes better and for coffee to. Used to live in a studio apartment. Water lines 100+ years old stuff in the water glad I bought faucet filter system.

Filtered water also good for pets. You can taste the difference. Only thing green light does not last long. But great product though.

The filter I bought from you on October 10 is working just fine. Unfortunately, it was bought to replace an Everpure filter (same model) purchased on September 25 from another vendor which wasn’t working and created water with a taste of iodine.

Plastic fitting adapters extremely cheap . It has been awhile since I purchased an Everpure filter assembly very disappointed . Cartridge seem very loose after it was “locked “in place .

The product was delivered and arrived in good shape. We have replaced one cartridge and will be using the others on upcoming jobs. The process of dealing with the company for the purchase was very easy without any hiccups.

We had our filter installed recently, replacing an aging reverse osmosis system that took up half the storage space under our kitchen sink. We really liked the taste of that water. The Everpure system is just the one slender tank which is great for allowing more storage.

However I am disappointed in the taste of the water. I am sure the water is pure, but it tastes almost the same as the water that comes from our tap. I am sure I will get used to it, but for now I am disappointed.

I wish I could solve this problem. We have used Everpure water filters for over 14 years. We usually replace filters every 4-6 months. The last 4 filters went bad within a few weeks. The water taste was thick and not good.

I tried the usual H-300, H-300NXT and H-300 HSD. Have the quality of the filters changed? I would love to have some answers.

Cheap plastic fittings with ‘press-in’ fail & leak over time. What happened to flange compression brass fittings that actually work and won’t leak over time? Had to replace the cheap plastic 90* elbows with brass.

If you want eventual water damage, then stick with the cheap plastic 90° elbow‘s that connects to polyethylene tubing or brass water lines.

The build quality is cheap and the design is not intelligent. The filters should go in from the top to reduce the chance of leaking. The first housing I received would leak from the bottom where the filters go in.

I’m skeptical of how long the seals will last in the replacement I received and if after changing the filters a few times whether the same leaks will start occuring. Time will tell. Also rather than using clear siphon tubes, the system should use harder plastic (e.

g. polyethylene food grade BPA free LDPE) that’s more difficult to puncture. That would probably increase the cost by a few cents but increase longevity of the tubes by years. Also the sticker which has the serial number on it should be water proof plastic and not made out of paper.

Otherwise, the water quality is excellent, it’s on par with what came from a $800 countertop filter requiring yearly $200 filters I just replaced. Even if I have to replace the filters every 6 months this will be far cheaper.

This countertop filter is rated for 450 gallons and they advise to change the filter once every six months. In a household of one person, if we generously estimate a use of four gallons per day for drinking and cooking, the filter should last about 16 weeks.

I live in San Francisco, California and my tap water is municipal water (not from a well). The water quality in general is pretty good but it smells of chlorine and hence I prefer to filter my tap water.

I run cold water from the kitchen faucet for 15 minutes every morning before diverting the water through the filter and I only run cold water through the water filter per the instructions. This water filter works well – for the first three or four weeks.

The water flow quickly diminishes and by six weeks the filtered water literally comes out in drops. It takes over five minutes to fill just one measuring cup of filtered water, making the filter impractical to use.

When I called Aquasana’s customer service, three different product support representatives said that changing the hose would solve the slow water flow problem. I paid $4. 99 for the shipping fee to have a new hose sent to me.

Changing the hose, however, did absolutely nothing to resolve the water flow problem. Furthermore the spout that screws on to the faucet drips, so you have to position the vessel you are filling with filtered water carefully if you do not want unfiltered water to drip inside.

There is also leakage from the main faucet to the filtered water spigot no matter how tightly it is screwed in. The quality of the metal piece that attaches to the faucet is not good and it seems like it was cheaply made with poor quality materials.

I am very disappointed by the performance of this water filter and their customer support. I really wish they would make a countertop water filter that lasts at least three or four months. If I have to change the filters every four weeks, even if I have a Water for Life subscription, the cost, including sales tax, will come out to over $700 a year or almost $60 per month for only one person using the filter.

I bought this because of high reviews I read online. I like the unit, 2 filters, the water goes to the filter and then comes back to the faucet unlike the common cylinder ones that the water comes out of the unit.

Joined the “Water For Life” program so I was getting replacements twice a year at $60 a pop. Fine, bit pricey but I like it. Problem is the unit itself would leak every few months and the faucet diverter would stop working properly within a week.

Apparently Water For Life is also a guarantee covering such things. 1st time it happened they sent me a new inside piece of the unit that houses the filters, simple swap out and I don’t remember them charging me shipping, I could be wrong.

That leak was small so waiting 2+ weeks for it to arrive wasn’t that big a deal. Several weeks ago it started leaking again, this time from one of the filter covers, Luckily I saved the old filter covers from the previous leak and that fixed it.

Today I was using it and something popped and water was pouring everywhere. Looking inside and the filter housing it self was leaking from a seam at the top. Fella on the phone said thats covered, I can have a repelcemnt in 2 weeks for $8 or 2 days for $30.

Says this never happens. Its happened to me twice now within 18 months. After a bit of back and forth I cancelled my Water For Like subscription and went back to my old unit that takes the standard 10″ filter.

If you are wondering about the faucet diverter not working properly, after 2 replacements I just stopped dealing with it and used it broken.

I AM SO HAPPY AND LUCKY THERE IS AN EBAY I CAN GO TO WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS. I SAY THIS BECAUSE OUR FIRST FILTRATION SYSTEM WAS INSTALLED IN 2003; IT WORKED FINE UNTIL THIS YEAR. GE TOLD ME THEY NO LONGER HAVE THIS MODEL SO MY ONLY ALTERNATIVE WAS TO PURCHASE THE NEWER MODEL.

THEY GAVE ME THE NAME OF AN INSTALLER WHO TOLD ME A NEW FILTRATION SYSTEM INSTALLED WOULD START AT $400. 00. FINDING THE SAME MODEL THAT I HAVE ON EBAY WAS A MIRACLE FOR ME. SO EASY TO INSTALL SINCE I ALREADY HAD MOST OF THE PLUMBING FROM THE 2003 INSTALLATION.

I’M SORRY I’M NOT GIVING YOU ANSWERS YOU ASKED FOR. I HAD MY FIRST FILTRATION SYSTEM FOR 13 YEARS AND IT WORKED FINE. NEVER HAD A LEAK UNTIL THE FILTERS WERE CHANGED LAST MONTH. ONE CANASTA STARTED LEAKING AND THERE WAS NO WAY THAT LEAK WOULD STOP.

USED A NEW O’RING FROM GE TOO. I THINK IF THE FILTERS WERE NOT CHANGED MY ORIGINAL FILTRATION WOULD STILL WORK FILTRATION SYSTEMS ARE PRETTY CHEAP. IT’S HIRING A PLUMBER TO INSTALL WHICH IS EXPENSIVE.

THIS SYSTEM WOULD NOT BE BIG ENOUGH TO DO AN ENTIRE HOUSE IF THE WATER IS OF BAD QUALITY. THANKS EBAY. HAVING THIS DISCONTINUED MODEL ON YOUR CITE MADE MY LIFE EASY.

Filters were received and installed in a two stage filter model no longer supported by GE. The filters are functioning. I bought an extra pair I put away for now. The 2 flexible accessories that go into either side of the filter to send water through the filter – the ends that you screw into the water line do not turn independently, so for every turn, you have to turn the WHOLE FILTER ASSEMBLY as you are trying to install and tighten the filter water lines.

After using several reverse osmosis systems for the past 30 years, I decided to try something different, I purchase the water drop ultra filtration system, and here is why I am fully satisfied with the system: 1- Easy to install, it took my less than half an hour to install it myself, I also connected the unit to the supplied faucet and to my refrigerator water hose(used a “T” connection), all went smooth, no leak at all.

2-The unit came with high quality faucet that was simple to install 3-After flushing the system as required, the water came crisp clear not milky color like some reverse osmosis do if too much air is in the tank, no need to have a tank at all.

4-No water wasted, water into the filter, water out crisp and delicious, my last reverse osmosis system was just wasting water.

Wonderful product. I’ve been using Brita On-Tap water filters for years and this is a good price! Even though I don’t think my city tap water is terrible, with the filter the water tastes noticeably better and neutral.

You don’t taste or smell any chlorine, etc. I use my filtered tap water for coffee, for my many flavors of teas, and for use in recipes. The on-tap filter is so convenient as opposed to a pitcher-style filter that is bulky, heavy and takes up room in the refrigerator.

These filters work longer than the suggested life in my opinion. I probably go 6 months between changing a filter. The Brita On-Tap Water system allows you to bypass the filter when unfiltered water is sufficient, such as for washing dishes.

This saves on the filter’s life. I highly recommend this product.

I’ve had it more than a year later and still going strong, just changed the filter for the first time. As someone who hates to drink tap water that hasn’t been put through a filter, this product is pretty much the dream for me.

Having access to filtered water at all times has been amazing, and so far I’ve been very impressed with this water filter. Installing it was easy, it comes with a variety of parts to allow you to attach it to almost any kind of faucet.

For me personally, it took less than 5 minutes, just a little twisting and tightening and then I was done. The filter itself has three settings. The first is a unfiltered spray, just letting the water flow right through without anything in the way.

This mode tends to be a little messy, but provides you with a lot of water very fast. The second mode is also unfiltered, but is a bit neater and is more controlled for a more even flow. The third mode is the filtered one, and it’s much finer and slower than the other two.

A small light will flash when this mode is active, so you know it’s working, and the water will clearly come out of a section of the filter system that is slightly different from the other two. Since the streams are so different, it gives a great visual cue so you won’t accidentally have it on the wrong setting.

The filtered water seems great to me, and starts working the second you flip the switch, there’s no delay at all. When you’re done with it, just flip it back to one of the other two settings and you’re done.

I would advise leaving it on unfiltered as running hot water through the filter is really bad for it, so better to accidentally have unfiltered water than damage the filter. The filtered water is much slower, but it’s not a problem if you’re filling a glass or a bottle.

Filling a whole pot or jug with filtered water is quite slow, but I imagine most people will use the other settings for those kinds of things. The actual amount of space taken up by this filter is minimal, but if you have a small sink like I do it is noticeable.

Having even then extra space blocked from view by the filter can be annoying, but it’s easy to swivel my tap to the side so it’s out of my way, and most sinks will be large enough that the tiny filter will probably not bother you.

If you have a moveable tap especially it won’t be a bother. To me, this is much easier than the filter jugs and better value.

Well, when I saw that their instructions said it would be a 30 minute install, I was skeptical. and, indeed, to carefully do the install took almost 2 hours. Granted, a small part of that was taking apart the older canister based RO system; however, it was easily 90 minutes to just install the Waterdrop.

That being said, the install went smoothly as their instructions were very straightforward and all items in the box were clearly marked, making things happen smoothly. Having read ahead in the instructions, I saw that the system does a 30 minute run through the RO faucet after a 5 minute start-up ‘flush’ prior to being useable so I had my bucket ready to catch the water and take it out to my desert landscaping so as not to waste all that water.

I checked things out for several hours and all was working fine with no leaks at all and was pleased with ALL OF THE EXTRA ROOM I now had under my kitchen sink, not to mention that the filter changes, a PIA on the old system, will be easy-peasy, too! The water? After the initial start-up, I tested the water and discovered it was very close to the Waterdrop’s score of a TDS of 25.

this starting with tap water that was well over 450 and the taste was poor! My wife and I are quite happy with the results as the older RO system (4 different filters and a tank) was never that low. The flow out of the RO faucet is not too strong (e.

g. : doesn’t splash out) but more than needed to quickly fill a glass or cup. The only negative we could see was one we knew going in, having had an RO system before, is that the RO water tastes ‘flat’ unless you add a mineral cartridge back into the filtered water to give it more taste.

After looking at the cost of adding the mineral carts into the mix, it just adds complexity and cost, and we are fine with the ‘flat’ flavor over the taste of the water straight out of the tap. Also, make sure that before you buy you have an active plug under the sink and not just a switched plug like the one used for a garbage disposal (I had to add an extension tap onto the plug-in for the dishwasher, which worked just fine for me).

Hopefully, this system will provide us years of service and I look forward to the easier, frustration free, filter changes.

I got the G2 tankless water filter. Excellent water filter. The ppm reading for my tap water was around 438. After installing the filter it reads 50-60 ppm and the water tastes great. It was easy to install and does not alot of space under the sink.

They also have excellent customer service. I had some concerns after I received the filter. They were resolved in a swift manner to my satisfaction. Still have to see whether the filters last for the lifetime advertised on them.

But no major concerns so far.

Many modifications are required which may call for sawing your copper pipes and welding in order to fit their “feed water adapter,” which I was told MUST be used. Their assistance with installation was horrible.

It was indiscernible if the woman was talking out loud to herself, which she did consistently, or if she was speaking to me! I was always ignored, I would be explaining a problem or asking for clarity then silence.

then she returns talking about a totally unrelated subject. I had to keep saying her name and then ask if she was listening! Finally, she said she was going for her break and would call me back with some answers as regards my install.

I waited and eventually got an email saying I should just return it because there were so many modifications. Now if I keep the Waterdrop G3 and hire a plumber and an electrician to make the modifications I am concerned about future problems that may arise.

Will I get dismissive emails saying I should return it? One of the highlights of this machine was their advertised help with installation and problem-solving. Now, I am reconsidering my rationale for buying this and if customers’ concerns are easily dealt with by sending an email suggesting I return it.

It’s frustrating. I already removed my old GE reverse osmosis and looked forward to this new one. I am so disappointed.

I love this product as far as how well it works and easy to use and change out. But the one important part I think people should be aware of is that they don’t last 4 months by far. My first purchase of the device came with 1 filter.

It ran out nearly a week later. I bought this 2 pack and the first ran out in 3 DAYS! Now we’re on number 2 and it halfway 5 days in. This is too expensive with all that on mind. I have to reorder everytime I finally recieve one on the mail.

It’s easier than walking larger containers of water up my apartment steps but runs out way too fast!.

it’s not that I can’t live without one of these. it’s just that all the bottled water taste bad compared to this. and I’ve been using the same tap in five different states. when the dot goes red I change the filter.

my favorite thing is just filling up a picture and putting it in the fridge. because of the taste I don’t add anything or desire sodas or anything like that. extremely good for making coffee and cooking.

I have never been let down yet by the PUR brand. PUR has once again helped me save money and great drinking water. I use to buy jugs of water to put in our water cooler at home. I would always have to lug those heavy jugs around and always paying for refills more often then I wanted to.

The PUR Plus Faucet Mount Water Filtration System has changed that for me. I no longer have lug around the jugs or spend the money, so that is one big plus. The fact that I can just go to my faucet and know that great water is right there.

It was truly a simple setup with clear instructions. The proper pieces were included to make sure the installation process was stress free. I think it took me maybe 5 minutes to install. I do love the fact that I am able to use my regular flow of water and switch to the filtration part when wanting fresh clean water.

I have been hesitant to get a faucet filter because of how they look. When I saw this one from PUR, I really liked the modern look. All of my appliances are stainless steel and this filter compliments it wonderfully.

The filter comes with three faucet adapters so it should fit most faucets. It likely won’t fit a faucet that doubles as a sprayer, though. The water will flow like normal until you pull down on a small lever on the right side.

After flipping this down, the water is redirected to filter. I can’t really taste a difference with the filtered water but enjoy the piece of mind. The TDS (total dissolved solids) in my municipal water is very high so I wanted an additional filter to remove most of that.

Overall, very pleased!.
