20 Best Extension Cord Replacement Ends (2023 Updated)

This is a very nice plug, just follow the instructions. I have electrical experience but the instructions are well put together. Tip, once you have all wires cut to length and stripped twist copper conductors tight.

Now there is several ways to terminate but this is what I like to do. I form my wires to match the terminals, the closer they are to matching the terminals the easier it is, takes a little patience. Start working your conductors into your terminals, once in lightly tighten down screw, don’t torque it yet you may have to adjust.

Someone gave a negative review saying you couldn’t get to the screw on ground terminal because plug is in the way, the terminal blades can be push out of the plug to get to screws, it also helps with terminating, don’t take them all the way out.

I found the hardest part was routing the ground wire between the other terminals but after a couple tries it went right in. One other thing I gave it a low rating on weather proof because it’s not a weather proof plug.

The construction is of a bit of a larger size which equates to easier plug-in/un-plugging. The large handles facilitate both actions. It is also a sturdier build than I find in similar products. Inside are larger contactors and contact surfaces than in some competitors which means better contact surface, less heat build-up, and gives a better/stronger grip in installing the wire to the plugs.

It is designed so that the contacts can be pulled out of the casing for easier assembly of the wire to the contactors that slip back in easily. But since the plugs are larger you need to check for clearance where it will be used.

Very solid replacement for the damaged plug on our 50amp RV power cord. Maybe not the easiest to install, but what is with the heavy wires on a 50 amp cord. Used a dremel tool to cut the old one off, carefully prepared the wires, and then just installed them one at a time.

Toughest part of prepping the wires for the new plug is how long to strip the ends. My first attempt was too long, so I just shortened them with the dremel again. No problem the second time. Once put together, everything seemed pretty tight and weatherproof but we have only used it outside on a couple trips so can’t really comment on the weatherproof aspect.

Pouring down rain could be a problem for any plug not secured to the cable by the factory.

This product is not designed well. I attempted to use it to replace a plug for a small lamp. The plugs apparently have a no strip feature which i quickly discovered i would need to strip the wire anway.

I could not get a connection going after carefully trying to adapt the plug to my existing wire. I would have been better off with a larger plug that would allow for me to attach the wires myself.

These were so easy for me to replace the plug on a lamp that my dog tore apart. I was pleasantly surprised it was so easy as I am not very good with home improvement projects. And I really hate to throw out things that I’m sure for most would be easy to fix.

So yay for me completing the project myself. I would highly recommend these for anyone!.

This is exactly what I needed. Works great. Easy to plug in. Works well for what I need it foe. Easy to store. Easy to hold and use. Great brand. No issues so far. Definitely recommend this brand and product.

Easy to wire. Doesn’t have a fancy rubber coating but it gets the job done and clamps the cable nicely.

wire connection is too small for heavy 12 gauge wiring.

I got this affordable GE Quick-Wire Plug to replace a damaged lamp cord. The lamp is sentimental to me and has been sitting just for looks for years because it didn’t work. I had my husband fix the lamp with the new wire plug and it works again!! He said it was super easy to fix with the wire plug.

The wire plug is durable and sturdy!.

Used mine for the Christmas lights in the windows in the living room, got tired of plugging things in all over the place. Plugged several light strings in and ran to a plug that went off a light switch.

Only problem exactly the same length from each side of the one that plugs in the wall. It worked for me but I wanted (and evidently didn’t read) a long extension cord with several plugs and a distance to the plug at the wall.

Not exactly what I got but I did make it work with very little difficulty. Length was really good.

If limited wall space for plugging due to the bed or sofa, etc. This cord is excellent. Hide behind the headboard or sofa with the added benefits of each end to plug in all your electronics etc.

This cord with a flat plug was perfect for getting it plugged in behind a cabinet tight to the wall. The plug also rotates so you can get the orientation for your application. I didn’t need a long cord for my purposes so the length of this cord was perfect.

White color was what we needed to blend in with our home. It seems to be well made.

Love this low profile cord. I used it to connect my wall-mounted TV to the outlet directly behind the TV. The TV cord was too fat and wouldn’t allow the TV to tilt.

The installation was simple took about 10 minutes. The self tapping screws that were supplied were too short for the space between the walls on my trailer, I had to use a longer screw. On the inside of the trailer I had to cut a little Devitt for the backside of the plug to fit properly.

It was easy to install and it looks clean and professional. I bought one for a friend of mine because I liked it so much.

It met my expectations on use and installation. Negative is that the holes need to be offset,so that the bottom hole is not directly inline with electrical cord. The screw actually touches the cord and had to use a shorter screw.

I installed the item in a Cargo Trailer and the depth of the wall was thicker than the body of the cord. Had to modify the opening to accommodate the body of the cord and also two longer bolts and nuts to make a solid secure connection.

The thin metal wall of the trailer makes it easy for it to come off.

Bought for some outdoor lighting. Wanted a more custom lighting install so created a custom length extension cord. I originally bought a cheaper version, but was dissatisfied with the poor connections.

Instead I bought this one and it went together much more smoothly. It was well worth the higher price due to the time it saves.

Product was rugged and all rubber so I thought it was a good chose as I wanted to keep it outside for patio lights. Got it home and noticed 2 of the 3 screws to hold the unit together were missing. Sadly had to return it.

Works as intended. No problems. Straight-forward use. 🙂

Standard 3-prong plug. Installs easily; however, the cord grommet is made of hard (non-compressible) rubber so getting a grip on the cord is difficult unless the cord is fairly close in diameter to the grommet.

Otherwise, feels like good quality materials, easy to work with.

The screws which hold the two halves together are long enough to reach well into the black plastic body and hold securely. The black plastic body is hard enough to hold the threads and the two halves together.

The metal base gives you a strong clamping effect which is important in keeping the cord from being yanked out of the plug in some situations. Some other items which you may find elsewhere on Ebay might actually be cheaper but those don’t have a metal base covering.

The plastic in those plugs is soft and the bolts do not reach sufficiently into the plastic to hold the two halves together securely. This can cause dangerously exposed electrical wiring should the two halve separate unexpectedly.

Wish I had not gotten these. Really my fault for ordering, figured they had to be kind of decent even to be offered. Had to use a few to get a project done, and opened all the cellophane wrappers, so did not try to return.

Inexpensive. But very poorly designed, IMO, at least for NM cable. Way too *cramped* inside, body needs to be longer. Clamp does not clamp to wire bundle. Not UL listed!!! Neutral and hot blades are identical.

Metal on the outside feels wrong.

We use these ends on extension cords for our business outside in a cold climate and under harsh conditions. While very handy to have the light confirming power, the “clear” section of the body seems to be made from an inferior, more brittle plastic material than the yellow coloured parts.

I could be wrong about the material but these are my honest observations and feedback from having these in service. I’ve had several crack and break in this area. The regular, non-lighted Leviton plugs that are all yellow, seem to be much more durable than these.

It would be lovely to have good durability and functionality, but I find there’s a compromise with these.

I bought this to repair a 12 gauge extension cord. It works great and has a robust mechanical connection for the wires. It can be a little finicky though, as if you open it wide to more easily insert and tighten the wires, the LED connectors can get loose and cause the LED to not light.

It took me a few attempts to perfectly strip the insulation length, install the wires, and get the LED pins in the right location. This would be a 5 star review if the LED connections weren’t as delicate.

The plug is great otherwise.

I really like these. All my extension cords get one of these when the ends fail or even if I just don’t like them. They’re very expensive, but they’re also very high quality. The case is strong and well made, the hardware inside is also vey good, not cheapie stuff and the green light is very nice.

I bought two of these extension cords for my christmas lights inside my windows. They were perfect. Hard to find but found here. Especially like the white ones as they match walls and are hardly seen.

This extension cord works great when you need one for a short distance. The fact that it is a slimline plug is a huge plus. I have bought several of these.

There are so many times I only need 2-3 feet to reach the outlet an hate having the longer cord in the way. Also, 3 ft power strips are too much. Too clunky. This is perfect. Great quality and price.

Not sure I’d buy so many if they cost a lot. I’ve bought 10 so far and will probably use 10 more before it’s all over. I’m just sorry they stopped stocking them in the store.

Attached the female plug connector to the wire and tested it with a circuit tester, and it showed no ground connection or it would just flicker once in a while. I took it apart and noticed the ground connection was sprung open and the copper connector was very thin and would not make a good connection so I pressed to together to make it tighter and it worked.

I cannot believe that the passed the federal inspection. Tight connections prevent fires. Do not recommend this product at all. To me the ground connector needs to be of thicker material.

I used this product to install a harbor freight shop light so I wouldn’t have to cut off the end of the plug on shop light and hardwire it. The plug connector made the job a lot harder than it should’ve been.

I almost quit and hardwired instead , but finally got it to work. There is not enough space to hook up the wires to the connectors especially when you go back to slide the plug cover on, I spent a lot of time getting this thing to work.

I was using this in overhead conditions also which didn’t help. Glad they had the product to use but I wouldn’t recommend.

Used this to connect 3 outdoor projection lights for Christmas. Although their huge plugs wouldn’t all 3 fit, I had to use an adapter as well. Rubberized taped all connections, lifted off ground and put a covering over them.

On a GFCI plug. Feel confident and safe. Worth the price. I have several other coleman outdoor extension cables. Have laid out in hot weather and sun for 2 years, yes they faded, but not cracked, never had a problem.

Heavy duty extension cord with three outlets. Perfect for tent camping; no need for a separate power strip. I like the bright red color! It’s easily seen and distinctive as “mine” in the pile of gear.

We use this with our portable generator to power our various appliances during power outages (which we get every time the wind blows hard, it seems). A real life (and sanity) saver. Very reliable, high quality extension cord.

The plug works but is a bit smaller then the actual Oreck plug. Also the notch that is supposed to attach to the cord is way too small. That part is useless . Other then that the vacuum work with it.

Quick repair for a puppy-chewed on cord end. Exactly as described. Cord clip is a little tight to get on, but is secure.

was skeptical but for what i needed did not want to spend a lot for something better. turns out these are not at all bad. plastic is solid and sturdy when it is together. of course when you put the cable in you realize it is actually three parts.

not the same as better duty units, the plastic is good enough but not to thick. usable. either this or the receptacle i had a problem with one of the bungs to hold the face to the body stripped, so a round toothpick broke off in the hole made quick fix and holds very tight.

Great fix for that extension cord that “somebody” cut the ground prong off of. Or maybe your plug got damaged and you just need to replace it. This will do the trick for a good price. Sure it won’t be a small as that original molded on plug, but will surely let you safely plug the cord in.

I keep one of these on hand at all times just in case. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because it COULD be a little heftier, but for what they are designed for, they’re great. Did I mention I like them so much I always have one (and the female counterpart) on hand?.

I did not like the plastic power cord on my Flux Welder. I purchased a twenty-five foot rubber extension cord from HF and cut it in half at twelve and a half feet. I kept the molded male end of the cord and wired the cut end into the welder.

I needed a male end to complete the cord because I had kept the molded female end on the extension cord. Just because something is new does not mean you cannot make it better. I also changed the grounding clamp with the upgrade clamp from HF.
