20 Best Exhaust For Mustang Gt (2023 Updated)

Really wakes up my Mustang GT. Beautiful, sublime sound for those who love the traditional burble of a V8. I had the GT 500 style before, and while it was a big improvement over junk stock exhaust, I wanted to make more of a statement.

The Roush is loud on cold starts and hard acceleration, but can be driven quite tamely through neighborhoods or past the po-po if you are easy on the gas pedal. You definitely hear it at cruising speed but it is not intrusive and you can still hold a conversation and listen to music.

Love the rolled exhaust tips and low profile polished mufflers, which gives it custom look. High quality construction, fit and finish throughout. You get what you pay for. Roush managed the best of both worlds; beautiful loud sound on cold start and hard acceleration while relatively mild at cruising speed.

No wonder these seem to be the most popular axle back exhaust for coyote Mustangs. Roush take you right to the edge of loudness without crossing the line into obnoxious “boy-racer” ville IMHO.

If you want good sound, but don’t want to spend 1200-1600$, I highly recommend these. In combination with the x-pipe, I guarantee you’ll have people ask if you still have your catalytic converters. I’m so glad I can finally make my neighbors mad.

I also find it quite convenient to blow out the ear drums of that nerd who cut you off. Also, make sure you pay close attention to your front door. You’ll often find ladies standing out there because they want to ride in the loud mustang.

I found that it’s also best to lay a tarp in the passenger seat in the event you take one for a ride. I don’t think I need to explain why. I once started it in my garage, and woke up 3 days later covered in red white and blue with my ears ringing to the star spangled banner.

My best friends mom heard my car and said she wants to get remarried to a guy who’s car sounds like mine. I once revved next to a cop, he said “that can’t be legal” and I said “why yes it is legal. I have a card” and I showed him my disability card because it’s stupid loud.

Spent a year trying to decide what to do with exhaust! Didn’t want to go crazy loud and have a lot of drone at cruising speeds. Didn’t want to absolutely piss off the neighbors. These were the perfect fit for what I was looking for! Sounds absolutely amazing.

It definitely has plenty of beastly roar when I get on it, yet I can keep it pretty quiet if I’m easy too! I’ve had other mustang drivers ask about it that have well over $2,500 on their exhaust with long tube headers, x pipes, high priced Borlas, and when I tell them it’s only a what, $700 roush axle back I installed myself (Which by the way was pretty easy 1/2 hour under the car) I am glad I had my brother with me to help hold them during install.

They’re not real heavy but when you’re on a creeper under the car without much elbow room it helps a ton to have an extra set of muscles for a few minutes while you get em on and lined up good.

I was first skeptical about getting this axle-back because of the low popularity. After installing this with the Mishimoto H-pipe, you get a awesome sound and performance. In addition, when pairing the this axle-back with the H-pipe, you will create a cat-back-straight pipe.

This will make every manual shift backfire i. e. smiles per shift. My brother-in-law has the Corsa Extreme cat-back system on his 21 Mustang GT and he’s now contemplating on going muffler delete with H-pipe.

As stated in the title, accompanied by an X-pipe this is as loud as it gets without adding aftermarket headers. The tone is phenomenal though. It really opens up the 5. 0 for everyone to hear. for miles.

If drone bothers you I would either keep the stock resonator or purchase an axleback with chambered mufflers. Drone is inevitable with a setup like this. Neighbors will hear your cold starts not matter what, so take that into consideration before purchase.

I have had the setup for only two days, but have already been approached by strangers who had good things to say. It will also turn heads, people will know you are coming their way for sure. Easiest install for any mod I have done so far.

Fits great and the 4. 5 inch tips are like no other. Removable exhaust hanger rods make the install painless, and clamps seal the exhaust tight. No leaks. If you want a really great tone with lots of volume, at a great price, then I recommend these 100.

I’m very satisfied. Previously owned a 14 GT with Roush axlebacks. I really enjoy the new system much more. It’s a joy to drive!.

As a first time buyer and first mod was very happy with noise levels and the product. Easy to install if you have all the tools at hand already. Sounded louder than I expected and was very happy with the fast shipping.

If you’re looking for a fairly priced exhaust i would definitely recommend this one. Took about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Fast easy install !.

If you’re searching for mufflers that will make your Mustang heard in neighboring zip codes, stop reading and look elsewhere. I specifically purchased these NXT Step Performance axle-backs because they were billed as quieter than most aftermarket exhausts and couldn’t be happier.

I personally was looking to hear my Coyote V8 as the driver but not draw too much attention. My vehicle is a 2019 GT in manual that has stock headers, stock cat, and had the resonator box deleted and replaced with an H pipe.

On cold start the H-pipe + NXT is loud and deep, but it will calm down to a beautiful low/deep burble at idle. Staying in the low rpm range will keep you relatively quiet, but pushing into 3000+ the exhaust comes alive with a deep V8 roar.

Highway speeds elicit no drone at low rpm and in 6th gear. I don’t think there’s any dramatic performance gain but I’m sure the engine is breathing easier. Installation was very easy. Little disconcerting cutting out the OEM mufflers but to be safe start right after the elbow and make a straight cut through.

The NXTs slid right on the existing pipe and tightened down firmly with the provided clamps. The provided exhaust tips are a brilliant chrome, however because my particular Mustang is magnetic metallic with all black trim and premium rims, I’ll most likely paint them black as the chrome feels out of place.

If you’re looking to hear your V8 but like your neighbors I strongly recommend these mufflers (along with H-pipes to delete the resonator).

This is my very first aftermarket exhaust and I needed something that was loud but not too loud. This exhaust when you first install it will be very disappointing. You won’t event notice if the car is even started.

When the mechanic was revving the engine you might hear a crackle from the exhaust which is nice. After having the exhaust for a few weeks and putting some heavy miles on the car I feel it has become a little louder.

When you start the car the car will be in high idle and the exhaust would sound really nice and throaty almost. Once it goes back to low idle you won’t even tell if the car is started. That is one downside.

When you get to the higher rpm’s IT SOUNDS AMAZING. You will 100% know you have an aftermarket exhaust and it sounds amazing. If you want to impress people with this exhaust save up for a cat-back exhaust in my opinion.

If you are on a budget like I was then this exhaust is descent. The videos you hear on the internet of the exhaust will sound louder and slightly different than real life so keep that in mind. Long story short if you are on a budget and don’t want your exhaust to be too loud then this is perfect.

This is an exhaust that can become somewhat loud when you want it to be and quiet at the same time. This is purely my opinion and my ears could be broken so keep that in mind I guess.

I always wanted a deep tone exhaust, and I have compared a few car-backs and axle-backs online, I ended up like this one. First of all, as you can hear from the video, this tone is decent and deep, but I was disappointed when I first installed it because when it’s under 1k rpm, you barely hear the exhaust, but when you actually drive it, it wakes up.

So if you are into loud from the beginning to the end, this one might disappoint you. However, this axle-back does give a deep tone and rumble sound when you rev it. So, if you don’t want to spend too much on it, and want a deep tone and nice sounding, go for it.

But if you want those high-pitched sounds, maybe not this one. Btw, my car is an eco convertible, I ended up welding it because the shop says the bending place doesn’t fit, so be careful.

I bought these axle-backs back in 2017 when I first got my 2008 Mustang GT/CS because it was all stock when I got it so I knew my first mod I had to do was the one to hear the beautiful sound of the 3V (since that’s the only thing the 3V has because it’s definitely not known for its power).

It took me maybe no more than 2 hours to install in my driveway outside and with no impact, but it isn’t hard and really straight forward. The only reason it took me that long was because I have OCD really bad and I didn’t get them perfectly flush, even, and level the first 2 times.

Fit & Finish – When they came in the the first thing I noticed is how much I loved the size of the SLP tips vs the stock Ford mufflers, they look absolutely perfect on the bumper. Second I loved the polished stainless steel, they still look new to this day and haven’t really started any surface rust so they’re made nicely.

Other than that they look absolutely fantastic. Exhaust Note – The sound these axle-backs bring out on the 3V (on the stock manifold and cats) sounded amazing, they’re loud when you get into the 3 to 4K range, but at idle and driving it’s not too much to bare.

But personally any mustang owner can say that the 3V is one of the best sounding Ford motor produced. Loudness – These axle-backs bring out the sound of the 3V which is why you would buy a set of axle-backs anyway, but on the stock manifold and stock cats they’re not insanely loud and obnoxious but they do catch some eyes while driving by but without ruining the driving experience but when you rev to the upper 3 to 4k’s they’re loud and pop but at idle and driving you can’t hear it if that’s what you want.

Now in my case, I loved the sound for a while but then I had to go louder, so if you want insane loudness, the best 2 setups I have is either 1) Stock manifold, Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe, and SLP Loudmouth Axle-Backs.

2) Pypes Long-Tube Headers, Pypes Shorty X-Pipe, and SLP Loudmouth Axle-Backs. Those 2 are insane and sound absolutely perfect to me on either stock or aftermarket cams. Performance Gain – Personally I didn’t notice any performance gain just because one I never tuned my car, and two I was too busy listening to the sound I never payed any attention, but I will say it definitely opened the car up, and it did seem like I had more power from the throttle, but nothing I could really say for sure, but I say if you did dyno your car you could gain somewhere around 10-20hp, maybe.

Bang For Your Buck – Now this I personally gave 5 stars just because American Muscle was having a big sale back in 2017 and I managed to get these for around $280ish so I did get my bang for my buck, but overall vs Roush, Borla, and all the other “name brand” exhaust companies, SLP was where it was at for me, you get a quality set of tips that look stunning, the fact $370 sounds better than $500+, and just overall everything else personally had me sold.

So personally I think it’s a great deal for great sound, and yeah there are video’s around with 3V having these on, but video’s don’t do these axle-backs any justice, they’re something else to hear in person.

Overall I recommend these for someone who wants to bring out the sound of the 3V for any type of setup you’re looking for so I give the SLP Loudmouth Axle-Backs a 5/5.

So, the hardest part of this install is taking off the stock mufflers. I don’t have the widest range of tools but I made it work. Ideally you would want the following: 13mm shallow socket 13mm deepwell socket 13mm wrench 15mm deepwell socket 15mm wrench Medium sized ratchet A good breaker bar rubber mallet or a hammer a stubby phillips screwdriver wd-40.

Gloves eye protection All of the exhaust hangers are held in place by 13mm bolts, the torco clamps are held on by 15mm. The rear most hangers are pretty easy to get off, but the forward hangers are a total pain.

There is a bolt directly above the mufflers that is nearly deadcenter, so I would recommend removing the rear hangers and then prying down between the muffler and frame to give you some clearance for a ratchet.

Almost everything I had to remove required WD-40. especially the connection between the over-axle and the axleback. With my lack of proper tools I managed to get everything removed in about 5 hours after letting WD-40 soak everything overnight and then letting the engine run a little bit to heat the exhaust.

Install of the SLPs is super easy. Took me a little under an hour. There is some lining up issues with the stock exhaust brackets that might require you to bend the hangers. Not sure if aftermarket hanger brackets would solve this or not.

Once installed, I dropped my updated tune from bama on here, and started it up. The cold-start is pretty obnoxious haha. The system is a muffler delete hands down. No resonator or anything. The only thing keeping my engine quiet is some high flow cats in my kooks x-pipe.

If you live next to prissy neighbors, might not be for you. Driving around, if you keep things below 3k rpm the noise isn’t too insane. Pretty close to how it sounded with just the LTH and Xpipe. Above 3k, or any pedal to the metal accelerating, the world will know you are not running a stock exhaust.

It rasps and roars! I love it. Haven’t tested what the power gains are yet. Going to datalog and work with BAMA to get this thing dialed in before I give a say.

Super easy installation, and the V6 engine sounds amazing. You can hear it purr, like horses, upon acceleration, and combines great with my new BBK, cold air intake, Jet MAS, Accell coil pack, 10 mm Livewires, Denso iridium TT plugs, 70 cm BBK throttle body, and SCT X4 flash Tuner to pull it all together.

Just need some shorty headers and more powerful fuel pump. Exhaust works great and gives that grizzly sound upon start up, and screamin horse stomping when the accelerating through the gears. Can even deal and hear a slight thump, thump, thump, when idling.

Great exhaust at this price point. Very pleased.

Borla makes it super easy to install. There were no instructions included, but I didn’t really need any because the parts were clearly labeled and fit together very easily. There are no rubber hangers nor flange nuts and bolts included, so keep that in mind depending on what kind of shape your original parts are.

Fortunately, I was able to reuse my old hangers and flange nuts and bolts. The hardest part was removing the old exhaust, because I dropped the rear axle so I could keep the old pipes intact without cutting anything.

The system comes with four clamps and no welding is required. I love the way it sounds now. It’s not obnoxiously loud by any stretch, but in comparison the stock exhaust seemed almost silent. Now it has a nice rumble at idle and a healthy roar when I hit the gas!.

I was admittedly a little disappointed at first after upgrading to this exhaust. Ford did a good job with the Active Exhaust on the 2021 EcoBoost. There is no resonator from the factory on the Active Exhaust system, so you won’t notice a big jump in loudness.

This is why I was disappointed… at first. The more I drove the car, the more I appreciated this upgrade. I could hear more of the turbo, the sound is more rich, and the car wasn’t as raspy in Sport or Track mode.

Plus, the black chrome tips look perfect with the black accent package I have on my car. After I got my Ford Performance tune, this exhaust came to life even further—especially in Sport and Track mode—which makes it an even more worthwhile upgrade.

Overall, I’m happy with my purchase. Just don’t expect a huge improvement in loudness over the factory Active Exhaust.

Cats went bad so we replaced the stock Y-Pipe with a true-dual Pypes X-Pipe on our 2000 Ford Mustang 3. 8L V6. After driving around with a custom, poorly fit restrictive cat-back I put together myself my brother bought this SLP LM II kit for me to put it on.

We also bought the Pypes Hanger Kit. Install took a little bit of time, but I did it using jackstands and did one side of the car at a time. Be patient and make sure no part of the exhaust is touching the frame–it will rattle.

Hardware is really nice quality, and clamps stay clamped. You can definately do this with a socket wrench but I recommend buying a battery powered impact gun if you don’t have an air one. Went in very easily and the design where it’s cut right over the axle is really nice in getting the perfect fit.

Since our car is a V6, you will need to adjust a little bit so that the exhaust tips don’t hit the bumper but it’s easy to get around. Car breathes a lot better now and it sounds incredible. It’s not stupid loud but it’s rowdy when you get on it.

When accelerating at 75% throttle the car really gives a smooth sounding exhaust note. When you punch it, it roars. But even with our car being a convertible with no aftermarket insulation, it really doesn’t drone too much.

Noticed a power delivery difference–it’s much smoother now and really gets you up to speed fast. We have a 99′ Mustang GT here and I’m now considering changing the old cat-back on here with this. Great product.

This exhaust was put on an otherwise stock 2002 Mustang GT convertible. The fit and finish is great–everything lined up nicely without any issues. The sound is aggressive without being obnoxious with the factory manifolds and catalytic convertors intact.

There was no real noticeable performance gain–I’m sure it helps the little 4. 6 exhale better, but nothing radical. The real reason most people buy a cat-back exhaust is the sound, and the SLP system delivers.

It has a nice rumble at idle, and while it growls on acceleration it never gets particularly loud until the throttle is fully opened and the RPMs climb–it has a great sound at full song. There is very minimal drone–the exhaust is louder than stock, of course, so there is more noise overall, but it is not unpleasant.

There is no raspiness or tinny rattling–it just has a solid, muscle car tone. The Loudmouth I may be a better option for those seeking something a bit more raucous, but if you’re trying to stay on good terms with your neighbor and still want your Mustang to sound the way a Mustang should, then the Loudmouth II is a winner.

Bought this together with a X pipe and BBK shorty headers. If your buying this for a basic V6 mustang the biggest issue you will have is the center pipes and X-pipe hanging low because the basic V6 does not have enough hangers to secure the exhaust to the body.

It was made for a single exhaust. Even the conversation kit I bought wasn’t good enough. I highly recommend taking it to a professional and having them install right. I should have done that from the beginning would have saved me money and time.

I have flattened the bottom part of the flanges out from it scrapping on the road and going over speed bumps. My car is lowered so that didn’t help either. But the exhaust it’s self is amazing and I love driving with the windows down and listening to it roar.

Now I have a 2011 GT and cant wait to start modding it!!.

First the product overall is nice as visual wise. In the other comments they say its loud, but not. It does give you sound when you rev high while driving. It has a medium deep tone. Its not super loud.

When you driving you can hear it. When I took the product to the shop to get it installed. The long pipes wouldn’t fit so they had to do some welling to make it fit. The product does make your mustang breath better and accelerate quick.

If you looking to make your car lounder. Get an x pipe or put a bbk cold air intake to bring in more air to push out to make it little loud. Overall I like it. But, I am given it a rate 3 because its not what everyone said it was.

Solid produc. Sounds amazing the more miles I put on it. The installation was a semi-nightmare. Mind you, I did it with jack stands and floor jack in the drive way. I eneded up taking it to a shop. Okay so the pipes fit well but alignment was difficult since I had little clearance, not the companies fault.

I do blame them for installing the hangers on the wrong side of the pipes. The shop had to saw off a set of hangers. Also the BIG KEY issue was the pipes going over the axle were centimeters away from hitting, so the mufflers had to be cut about 1/2″ from the outlet to move the piping towards the front of the vehicle/axle.

The local shop charged me 100 dollars to install. Normal rate was 120 but since i told him i struggled and needed an alignment only he was going to initially charge 80, but after cutting (more work) he met me half way.

And the alignment looked nothing like in the diagrams shown (provided by magnaflow) 4 stars is based on sound, otherwise it would be 3 stars.

I got this exhaust to replace a steeda aftermarket exhaust and h-pipe the previous owner had installed that was obnoxiously loud, hacked together, and had a horrible drone in the cabin (about 85 db) around 1500 RPM (60 mph.

) Installation was fairly straight forward, and is all bolt together flanges, with exception of the clamps just after the factory cats. The system completely removed the interior drone which was one of my main goals.

Not having the factory exhaust when I bought the vehicle I can’t say what it sounds like compared to that. The tone of the exhaust is a very low, and deep rumble when the valve is open, and what I’d imagine is pretty close to stock when closed.

The system as a whole is rather heavy, but from I found the stock system is over 70 pounds, so it’s either close to or less than that. Here is where there is room for improvement. I got this kit with the oval mufflers because from the pictures of the round one you would see the bolts of the straps that hold them up, but getting the tips to be centered in the bumper cut outs seems to be impossible.

The hanger needs a bit of a redesign to allow for better adjustment and to raise the tips higher. I had my car on 4 jack stands and luckily have two car jacks and could hold the mufflers up in place as best i could while I tightened the flanges together.

Wiring is pretty easy, there is a unused rubber plug in the spare wheel well that you can cut and run the plugs through. From the factory it seems the motors are miswired. After first installation the valves where doing opposite actions, one would open and the other would close.

I sent a email to x force and never got a reply. I found if you pulled on the wires going to the plug on the muffler you could pull the tabs out and swap them which fixed the issue. I would recommend testing the valve functions before installing.

Routing the cable was also easy, just tuck it under the truck carpet and get it into the rear seat area (with the lower seat removed. ) The unit plugs into a 12v power supply which I don’t care for, but I don’t use the one in the center console anyway, so it can go there without too much hassle.

I removed the two 10mm nuts that hold the center console down and was able to drill a hole just large enough for the plug through in the plastic right under the plug which the rubber liner covers up, and was able to push it under the carpet between the console and the area under the rear seats.

I mounted the control unit on my sub box behind the rear seats, and zip tied the excess wire in a void under the rear seat along the passenger side outside trim panel. The control box is only about 5 feet from the plug, so that will limit where you can place it.

The volume with system open or closed while inside the cabin is about the same, with maybe a little more low rumble when open. When on the side of the car, with the valve closed the engine itself is louder that the exhaust.

When open it is a little loud, but not close to what I was expecting. I think the resonator it taking away some of the volume, but it still sounds nice when behind the car, even if it’s not as loud as I was wanting.

Overall it seems pretty well constructed, nice tight welds, and a almost mirror like finish (which I’m not a huge fan of, but there isn’t any other options. ).

This exhaust added a nice deep tone to my 2015 Mustang GT and yet still gives me the option to be quiet at times with the remote to open and close the butterfly valve 5 steps from closed to open. Very nice.

Ordered and came quickly in two days. Product was packed nicely, my only gripe is there was no instructions whatsoever and I could not find any on the site. However, winging it was not hard if you just use the picture of the full exhaust to work from.

I did it with no lift by jacking the rear of the car on each side with a floor jack under the control arm spring bottom and then sliding a ramp under each side with front wheels chocked and ebrake on in gear.

Definitely a two man job to remove the one piece old exhaust and help hold the new pieces going on. It could probably be done by one person with some jack stands, but it took me and my bother a good 3 hours to get it installed without tips and just test plugging the wires to try the exhaust.

Working on your back with very little room under the mid section of the car was rough. Spent another 2 hours myself aligning the tips and routing the wiring through the trunk under rear seat to the console and having to re-seat a couple of flanges that were leaking water droplets from condensation after testing.

The flanges are a bit of a pain to get flush while keeping everything lined up, but not too bad. They said to leave all the connections a little loose and then tighten but I think it was better to tighten the flanges flush working from the back to front because it is very hard to get the aligned once everything is hooked up.

Other than that I love the exhaust. The quality of the exhaust is very good. I was a little concerned about them being round and hanging lower, but that has not been an issue. Just provides better viewing of your new shiny exhaust.

Great throaty sound with the exhaust open and factory quiet when closed. It’s not the loudest exhaust as has been said, but plenty loud enough to sound nice running through the gears and still be able to run quiet if you need it.

Not really any other exhaust systems provide this functionality without quite a bit more bucks. There are some videos online for removing old exhause, but to remove the old exhaust just loosen the 4 bolts on the collars that connect the resonator at the mid point of the car.

Remove the two hangar bolts at the back side of the gas tank. They will remain hanging until you lift up on them. Lastly remove the two bolts on each side of the bumper for the muffler hangers and slide the exhaust at the resonator off the pipes.

Keep your collars and hangars for reinstall with the new exhaust. Use the Xforce picture of exhaust to install starting at the resonator working back to the mufflers. Without a lift you will need some patience, but worth the rumble you get.

I purchased this system in February of 2020 and installed it in March. With it being the first install on my 16’ GT I was a bit nervous to how it would turn out. It arrived very well wrapped and was very easy to piece together.

I did what I could but ultimately I didn’t own a car stand so I took it to my neighbor, who has a full car lift. The install was straight forward, only taking roughly 3-4 hours. Just bolt it all together and you should be good to go.

Also, the instructions say to use gasket sealant but trust me you don’t need to because it comes with spacers. After owning and driving about 1,500 miles with the system, I’ve gotta say it’s pretty quiet for what your paying for.

Despite that, it accomplished everything I want it to. It is certainly louder (and better sounding) than stock and the startups are BEAUTIFUL. It has basically no drone at all and sounds the best at around 1,000-3,000 rpm.

If you are looking for a great looking, aggressive yet controlled sounding system with a bit more sound than stock than this is absolutely a great buy!.

I installed this axle back on my Ruby Red 2017 Mustang GT Premium convertible resonator still intact. I am completely happy with the sound. Nice hum on idle and gets deep and louder as the revs increase.

No rasp and some cool minor deep gurgles on decel from high rpm from time to time. It’s not too loud and no drone. I wouldn’t change anything about the sound and will leave the rest of the exhaust alone.

Install took about an hour on ramps.

We were looking for something to make the 14 V6 sound more like a true muscle car and these did not disappoint. The sound is perfect since we didn’t want to completely disturb our neighbors or be worried every time a police car is nearby (Colorado).

Do yourself a favor, really use that PB Blaster and just take the hangers off. This was my first exhaust change so it took me a bit to get over the nerves of being under a car on two jack stands, but once the stock mufflers came off (took the longest because I’m a little chicken), it was super easy to install especially with the hangers being off.

Overall time for me was around 2-3 hours and most of that was taking off the stock mufflers. Lastly, make sure to save your stock clampers. Mine was welded to the stock mufflers, but using a wire cutter will get them loose.

Overall, this didn’t disappoint.

Very happy with my Roush Cat back system. Easy to install only took me about 2. 5 hours and a perfect fit no modifications had to be made. The quality of the materials is top level I am glad I spent the extra money for the Roush system rather than going the cheaper route.

The difference in the sound that these pipes make on my car is awesome. It’s not overly aggressive so I’m not totally making my neighbors mad but aggressive enough that they know when I start the car and people know when I’m coming down the street.

The Roush logo’s on the perfectly polished slightly oversized exhaust tips stands out nicely when you look at the rear of the car and I picked up some extra horsepower and acceleration after the installation.

The only tools needed are a 3/8 ratchet a 3inch 3/8 extension a can of penetrating oil and a deep 15mm socket. If you follow the instructions included with the kit you don’t even need to remove any of the exhaust hangers everything just slips into place.

(Installation Note) If you don’t have access to a lift to get the car high off the ground then you will need to raise the car and support it on the body so the rear axle hangs down all the way and you will need to raise the car at least 3 feet so the mid pipes can be angled to slip over the rear axle.

The only reason I gave a 4 star is because I’m a perfectionist and the passenger side midpipe had an off cutting on the end that meets the muffler. By no means did this hinder any structural integrity or application and ultimately can not bee seen.

Install was easy. Did it on Jack stands in an hour. Sounds amazing and cold starts are nasty! A little drone between 52-57mph. No drone at 72mph cruise control set, at least with the 10r80 tranny.

So make no mistake, you will wake the neighbors, if your wife hates your car now, she’s going to hate you more. If she thinks your going through a mid life, she will think it even more. If you don’t want her in your car this is the exhaust for you.

You hear this is exhaust as well as feel it. It definitely delivers great sound. Before buying ask yourself what you really want. If you want look at me, look at me, thumbs up. If your looking for rumble, thumbs up.

If your looking for deep quality thumbs up. If your looking for a mild upgrade call American muscle and speak to someone, they’re awesome and extremely helpful. I would definitely buy 2 pairs of the hanger brackets when purchasing.

I wast very impressed with the video posted by AM as each and every one used a different muffler system on the before and after. after installing on my active exhaust system i love it, in quite mode if will take a sticker all day and in track mode down shifting through a tunnel is just completely obnoxious 🙂 100% would buy again and again and again, i love it an it sounds deeper and throatier and just overall more raw.

i took it to my buddy shop and installed on a lift, the initial install took less than an hour, but after test driving i noticed the tips sticking out more than they used to, so we took an extra half inch off the even them up and when we were done all in we spent a couple of hours just refining the fit and finish.

and being that it was installed in an ASE certified garage it keeps the cars factory warranty !!!.

I wanted to make the exhaust louder but not crazy and after doing some research and checking out some Youtube videos, I decided to grab this and add it to my stock mufflers while shedding the resonator.

I had a local shop install it because I wanted the axle side of the X-Pipe to be welded in to mitigate leaks. (I didn’t weld the header side and kept the stock clamps). After getting it installed, things are as I expected and I LOVE the sound and volume.

It’s about the same at idle but when you get on it, it really comes to life without being obnoxious. It is definitely louder than stock with a metallic rasp that is signature to an X-Pipe but not insanely loud.

(There are mufflers you can add to this to go crazy loud if that is your thing). You will notice that the exhaust is slightly louder on the inside of the car off of idle and there is no drone while cruising on the highway.

Basically, this is how the car should have come from the factory in my opinion. (Very similar to my 2006 Mustang GT). If you have a 2015-2016 Mustang GT and you think it’s a little too quiet, this is your perfect mod and I say go for it!.

Im running this xpipe with the Roush axleback and it sounds amazing. It has a nice raspy tone aith a lot of crackles and pops as should be expected with an xpipe. The xpipe is noticeable lighter than the stock resonator.

My only complaint is the rear of the xpipe is the same diameter as the midpipe and the clamps it comes with are not confidence inspiring. I would recommend either welding the rear or using a good amount of the high temp exhaust gasket maker with the clamps provided like i did.

Also the instructions Say to cut 4″ from the resonator But It fits better if you cut 5″ back. The install was easy. Using power tools and car ramps it took me just under an hour. This xpipe is definitely with the money.

Other then the slight fitment issues I would recommend.

I am extremely happy with this exhaust. Just taking the parts out of the box was like wow. Incredible craftsmanship everything is nice quality, polished to a mirror finish it all looks outstanding. Installing it went very well Took us a couple of hours, two people really helps.

Closed it sounds just like stock as far as loudness, open it sounds great. It sounds nice and deep and screams but it’s not super loud. Very reasonable, nothing that will become bothersome. I’ve had it now for two days don’t notice any drone and even cruising with it open, under normal driving conditions it’s still relatively quiet for an aftermarket exhaust.

Once you start getting into it half throttle it really starts to wake up. It’s great for getting out of my neighbourhood quietly and coming home late. Very nice product. I am also running long tubes with cat delete.

I honestly expected it to be louder at full open, but that is not to say that it is quiet at all. At full close, this system is whisper quiet. Once you pass 3500 RPM, it really starts to shine. It’s loud, but very very smooth and extremely refined and my favorite part is NO DRONE.

NONE!!! Fully closed, the interior sound reminds me of a Crown Vic, but hit the “B” button to open her up and you get a smooth healthy rumble, without any headache-inducing drone at any RPM. The quality, fit, and finish of the components is 2nd to none.

This is one of the best built exhaust systems you can buy. The whole thing is highly polished stainless steel and everything bolts together with flanges and gaskets to ensure a good seal. The muffler hangers give you absolute control over the positioning of the mufflers and tips, so if you are like me and are mildly OCD about that sort of thing, fear not! You can position them to your absolute preference.

My only complaint is with the wiring provided to run to the power supply. With the fittings already installed, it can be difficult to fish them through tight spaces when you are hiding the wires. But honestly, I’m nit-picking even that.

If you want a super high quality stainless cat-back system that sounds amazing and has the added cool-factor of an electronic active exhaust, at just barely over half the price of the nearest competition, the Varex is the one for you.

You wont be disappointed!.

Build quality is through the roof, the exhaust has a nice fit on the car and looks really good. I have this paired with the xforce 1 7/8” longtube headers. The exhaust isn’t overwhelmingly loud. Virtually no drone.

I would like it to be a little louder personally. All in all great product.

This exhaust was a pretty simple install after renting a sawzall from home depot. The sound is decent, louder than stock, has a great sounding cold start and rumbles nice at idle. However, although it is noticeably louder than stock and sounds good on the road, it is actually nowhere near as loud as the loudness meter in the product description says, but I also still have my factory resonator on so there’s that.

Nonetheless, it sounds great to me and has no drone. Only issue was the long period of time it took to receive any type of shipping info and the long time it took for it to ship, but that probably had to do with covid.

Also, a nitpick is how one side of the exhaust tips are higher than the other. A little pricey for an axle back, but I’m satisfied. Finished in 2-3hrs.

To me the sound is exactly what a coyote should sound like. Install isn’t hard at all, just a little tricky to get the right cut to get the tips aligned properly. The vaarex motor is plug n plug and goes into your cigarette lighter so not splicing needed.

The adjustability is very nice to get rid of drone COMPLETELY when you don’t want it for a roadtrip or anything.

I had muffler deletes and a resonator delete before I had this axleback, and it sounded decent. Then I got an off-road H pipe, and the sound was incredible, but it was waaay too loud. It was impossible to drive around, and the drone was unimaginable.

Threw these bad boys on, and my entire world changed. With the valves open all the way, there is no drone, but the volume is still there. There isn’t as much popping, but I’ll learn to live with that.

With wide open throttle, the sound is just pure muscle. I would definitely recommend taking off your cats (and/or installing longtubes) with these axlebacks, just so you can unleash your beast whenever you want.

With the valves closed, it sounds a little bit like an old school muscle car, with a very quiet tone. I can’t hear the closed exhaust note over the sound of my radio when driving. I switch them on whenever I’m around any cops, or whenever I get a headache.

While I really wanted another set of the Ford Preformance 500 axle back exhaust on my ’07 GT like I had on my ’06, sadly they have been discontinued. The S-Type was my next choice. They have that get deep sound, and play a great tune on deceleration.

But, as many have said the things roar terribly at between approx 1500 to 2000 rpms when the engine is under a load. That roar does quiet down when cruising though. My first thought was to throw them in the trash, but I used the “wifeometer” before I did that.

While it aggravates the crap out of me, she’s OK with the sound. So, I guess I’ll keep them for awhile. But, Borla really need to look into that dang roar. The FR500’s were much better. IMHO.

100% love this exhaust system. All I can say is holy crap. These are, to me, everything I was looking for. I need to do some more driving, but night and day difference. Absolutely love the sound, no drone driving at 45-55 mph.

My Complaints: Equipment – The description on the site states that it comes with hardware, all the hardware is meant to be re-used from the stock system and kit comes only with mufflers. Installation – The stock exhausts v-bands were welded on.

This meant they got held up and created an issue when trying to get the old muffler out. The Borla mufflers have a slightly different hanger position, this mandated that the panhard bar brace (driver side) needed to be removed in order to get the exhaust off, The passenger side muffler would have required the panhard bar itself coming out if I couldn’t have reached the muffler hanger assembly.

Real time installation was about 2 1/2 hours.

Tuff to tell what any of the mufflers will sound like unless you hear it in person. I wanted loud thats what I got I guess. should have gone with the sports maybe? If you just have stock manifolds and cats, you might love these , but for me with kooks long tubes and even still with high flow green cats.

, its just too much. Sounds cool when you start it up and cruising at low rpms. Only after like 3000 rpms it gets obnoxious real fast. They look real pretty but is any muffler worth $ 926. 00 , not to me.

No drone though. I think just no mufflers at all, straight pipes would probably sound the same?.

4/5 mainly because of price. Otherwise it looks and sounds amazing with my C&L H pipe. The absolute biggest pain with this install was with the actuators and lining up the springs properly. I literally had to take both active tips off 3 times each (after the system was installed on the car) and readjust the springs because my exhaust modes weren’t operating correctly.

That alone took over an hour. However, I finally got it to work and it was well worth it! Quiet mode is amazing and there is no drone as advertised. I have already broken a few necks in track mode ;).

Bought my 16 GT used and the prior owner installed a muffler delete. Sounded real mean, loved the tone. but the drone was unbearable. Was embarrassed to have people ride with me on long trips because from 2-3k RPM cabin was horrible.

I usually rode on the freeway above 3k RPM so I wouldn’t have to deal with it. Gas milage didn’t love that. Corsa completely fixed it. Zero drone. sounds amazing when I want to get on it, but when crusing it’s super low key and comfortable.

exactly what I was looking for.

I’ve had my base model GT since it hit the dealer lot back in 2017. While the OEM exhaust had some growl to it, I was constantly wanting a more aggressive sound, but wasn’t sure which exhaust to pick.

After meeting another Mustang owner at a gas station, he demo’d this exhaust to me after having it for a couple of months. I noticed just how great is sounded on start, when revving the engine, and as he sped away.

So, I jumped online and purchased it right away. Had a local shop install it, and have been incredibly happy. Cold starts are AWESOME, the rumble isn’t super loud when you’re cruising along, and it’s plenty loud when you put your foot down on the peddle as you speed away.

I’ve had compliment after compliment wondering if I’ve upgraded any part of the engine, and people are surprised when I tell them it’s just an exhaust upgrade. So, if you’re on the fence like I was, this is a worthy upgrade to your OEM exhaust! The shop that did the install only took about an hour and a half to remove and install the new exhaust.

The shop owner stated how easy the install was, and was so impressed he purchased one for his own car. I don’t think you’re going to see much performance gain, but you’re definitely going to smile when you’re moving along.

I bought the Ford Performance by Borla Touring cat back exhaust because it had the deep throaty exhaust note without being overly loud and pissing off my neighbors or my wife. I have a convertible and wanted my exhaust to be on the tamer side.

The exhaust is perfect because it is somewhat quiet(still sounds deep and powerful inside the cabin) at idle and when you’re driving normal, but when you open it up, it is a deep angry exhaust and sounds amazing.

It is not super quiet and nobody should worry this exhaust wont be loud enough, because it is a monster when you want it to be. And that’s the best thing because it can be subtle, or it can be a monster.

Sounds great in the cabin and makes you feel like you added 50 more HP even though the exhaust doesn’t add a ton of power on it’s own. Great all around exhaust and well worth the money. Installed in my garage on jack stands, and took a little bit to loosen up the clamps on resonator and downpipes because they were a little rusty, but very easy install all together.

I also had to take off the 15 bolts holding the extra bracing under my convertible before I could do anything with the exhaust, so convertible owners be prepared for that step. You will not be disappointed with the exhaust.

It does everything it says and more. Love it!.

After a ton of research and comparisons, I decided to purchase the Borla Sport Cat Back Exhaust for my 2021 Mustang GT. It has a nice balanced sound to it, has no drone when on the highway but really wakes up when you want it too.

I was looking for something that was aggressive sounding but not to obnoxious. You can still have a conversation with your passenger as it is not overly loud, even with the window down. The black tips look great with my black Mustang.

It’s a huge upgrade to the stock exhaust. Install time was a little more than an hour at my local shop.

Hello. Let me start by saying this is the best sounding exhaust in my opinion for the 11-14 5. 0’s. Like most I have spent countless hours on YouTube watching exhaust videos/set up’s trying to find the best exhaust note I could for my 14 5.

0. Before, i made my decision on the AWE touring, I was leaning towards Corsa, however, I was disappointed with the sound the Corsa’s made on the 11-14 5. 0’s. Unlike the S550’s Corsa Catback system, the Corsa’s did not impress me on the 11-14 despite being the most popular choice.

I wasn’t really impressed with any of the exhaust brands until I heard the AWE. However, there is little videos on the AWE touring exhaust in the S197’s on YouTube, however, what I can tell you is that this exhaust has a beautiful exhaust note to it! It is just as loud as the Corsa’s and Roush but has a better tone to them.

Think of it as if the Corsa and Roush has a baby, it would be this exhaust and I love it. Combine the sound with AWE’s non-drone “180° technology”, and it really is a great exhaust. Another positive thing about this exhaust is the tips are not connected to the exhaust from the factory.

This is a positive so you can adjust the positions of the tips to your likings. Also, AWE includes a free blow-pop with your purchase.

This system replaced my stock SVT GT500 mufflers. I have no intention of putting headers on the car so these have the perfect sound for me. I’ve heard sound clips with headers and x-pipe and they are pretty loud.

Keep that in mind. The welds are excellent. The installation is straight forward. Make sure to use a lubricant on the hangers as the forward pair go in from the opposite direction. Make sure to save the clamps from your stock pipes.

You will need to reuse them. I took about 45 minutes removing the stock pipes and then about 45 minutes to install the AWE’s.

AWE Track Edition ABE was a perfect addition to the build stage we are at with our 2011 GT. We wanted to bring out some of that 5. 0 attitude via sound and were not quite ready for longtubes and full-blown exhaust modification as we are building the project slowly.

When we turned the key after the install, we awoke the beast from within. Truly amazing sound. System is high quality. We chose the black tips which are perfect for our black beast.
