20 Best Exfoliator For Acne Scars (2023 Updated)

They recently changed formulas. The old formula worked wonders for my acne prone and sensitive skin. It was gentle, didn’t have a strong smell, gentle exfoliation, and didn’t completely dry my face out.

My skin was soothed but the acne was taken care of. The NEW formula is awful. My skin is starting to break out again, I get headaches from the smell, and it is too strong of an exfoliant. It scratches my face, so I can barely scrub with my face wash.

Please bring back the old formula Burt’s Bees! You all had a wonderful formula before that didn’t need to be changed.

What I love about Burt’s Bees products is their natural approach to every day skin problems and that all products are very gentle to my skin. I love this Deep Cleansing face scrub, it’s creamy and smells naturally light.

There are noticeable scrubbing particles in this scrub that help exfoliate the skin gently to reveal fresh skin and leaving the texture smooth and more even, while added salicylic acid helps control oiliness and treat and prevent breakouts.

This scrub is amazing because my skin feels so soft after using it and the Cica in this face scrub calms my redness very well. My skin has already improved so much since I started making it a part of my daily skin cleansing regime! I love it and highly recommend it! Finally a gentle solution to a stubborn problem I’ve been dealing with for a long time!.

This scrub is good to use for acne maybe 2 times a week. Anymore than that, it makes my face dry and irritated. Overall it does an okay job. I have been using it for over a year on and off in between other face washes and it doesn’t really do much for my acne.

The ingredients in it look a bit sus. Salicylic acid is great for acne, however whatever else is in this product may not be so great. It also has a weird over powering smell. If you are looking for a back up acne scrub this is okay but for long term use, it may not do too much for your face.

It’s not the worst out there but I would probably recommend something else.

My skin cleared up within a week of using this face wash. I have very sensitive skin and can usually ONLY use products with no perfume or fragrance or harsh chemicals and this product does have salicylic acid and a slight fragrance and does not bother my skin.

So glad I came across this face wash. Have already purchased my 3rd bottle. Also I sometimes use the face wash as my mask and I allow the product to sit on my face for about 15 to 30 minutes and then I rinse it off.

I use it as a mask about twice a week. Either way it works for me!! So happy about my skin finally! I am 36 with cyclical acne, but NOT ANYMORE!!!!!.

So thick. It should be names as daily scrub. Not at all beneficial to my oily skin. Felt too harsh too skin due to its big scrubber. Face scrubber must be gentle. Also it feel like cream. While washing with water there is also some part left on my face like near nose near eyes which doesn’t wash off with splash of water.

You need to scrub and wash and rub again with fingers to completey get rid off. I love this brand but this product is my least favourite.

My only experience with Benzoyl Peroxide was with Proactiv as a very young teen. I suffered from severe, inflammed acne and quickly saw great but consequently very stripping results within early use.

I’m 28, I don’t suffer with acne per say but have never had flawless skin (or at least clearish skin). Trying to balance large pores or the occasional pimple has always been a constant battle so I decided to try Benzyl Peroxide again- and I’m so glad I did!!! In between using Retinol and having ‘nights off’, I use this 3 times a week in the evening and have noticed great results.

My skin can handle its acids yet I found slight but not uncomfortable tingling after the first few uses. Stick to it because the sensation subsides a few uses after. Now my skin looks more smoother, even, less red and has definitely put the pimples at bay.

My pores are even smaller, something the 2% BHA hasn’t seemed to do. I recommend starting slow and adding a lot of pore friendly moisture to avoid irritation- you won’t regret it!.

Let me get straight to the point: This stuff WORKS! I never really suffered from acne. Throughout my teens and early 20’s I would get the occasional spot here and there, but as I got into my late 20’s my skin began to break out more frequently, especially close to my period, and this last year my skin was freaking out with tiny spots and bumps all over my jawline.

I’ve spend a ridiculous amount of money on different products, but nothing ever seemed to combat my hormonal acne. Well, not until I tried this! I’ve been using this every 2nd day for roughly 3 months combined with the Azelaic Acid booster (for cleansing I used a 0,5% salicylic acid cleanser from cosxr) and my skin has never looked or felt this good! My hormonal acne seems to have finally cleared and I haven’t had any severe flare ups in a long time.

I obviously still get a few break outs near the end of the month, but they’re much less severe, way more manageable and clear within a couple of days. Word of advice though, DO NOT use this twice a day even if it says you can.

While this is definitely good for sensitive skin as it’s very gentle on the skin, it’s still an exfoliant and you should be really careful not to over-exfoliate your skin. If you’re like me and have never used a BHA exfoliant like this, I definitely suggest to start slow.

Your skin needs to get used to chemical exfoliant, so be patient and slowly build up your tolerance to this problem so it won’t cause more problems than it solves. This exfoliant can cause skin purging.

It happened to me but this is perfectly normal and lasted about 4 weeks. It just means the product is working as it should! I used it once a week for two weeks, then twice for two weeks until I was comfortable enough to use it every second day.

Your skin will absolutely thank you for it!.

I’m here to purchase the full size after buying the travel size to try out. I was desperate. I’ve used a complete skincare routine for years and my skin was in great shape. Clear and smooth. Then, menopause hit.

I’ve been using this toner for about 4 months now and I don’t see myself ever using a different type of toner. I have a health condition that can really dry out my skin, and when that happens it makes my skin so much more hydrated and I feel so much more comfortable.

During the months where my skin tends to go more to the oily side, I feel like my skin is still very well balanced. The ingredients like glycolic acid, hyaluronic acid, and pycnogenol are amazing. Different parts of this contributes different benefits; Exfoliating, hydrating, anti-inflammatory, reduces redness, prevents UV ray damage and UVB wrinkles, and reduces melasma.

It definitely smells like rose/botanical, but the smell becomes less and less noticeable with time regardless of how you feel about it (I’m personally totally fine with how it smells). I’d personally recommend this toner for people who are trying to prevent aging and are aiming to balance their skin hydration.

Anyone who has more irritated or inflamed skin may also benefit from using this. If your skin is super sensitive, you may want to have another toner on standby, but this has so many soothing agents in it I think you’ll be fine.

This is my 3rd bottle. The first bottle was great and smelled so nice! The second bottle smelled a little off, slightly like vinegar. I know every now and then a batch can be off, so I continued to use some of it before tossing the rest.

The next toner I bought was the anti-wrinkle toner with the red lid – absolutely wonderful!! Worked well, my skin was so clear and bright. Recently, I ran out and went to buy more of the anti-wrinkle toner, but couldn’t find it anywhere on the site.

I ended up trying the radiance toner again, hoping it was back to the quality of the original bottle I bought – sadly, it’s not. Still smells slightly vinegary, which is very disappointing because all my other products from DermaE are excellent.

I won’t be buying this one again, now trying to decide whether to toss it or what.

I have sensitive skin, but I worked my way up to using this daily. Initially I didn’t apply it over the most sensitive parts of my face, and I immediately rinsed my face after using this toner. This was more of a precaution since I never had a reaction.

Now I use it as part of my evening skincare routine. After cleansing my face (usually with the DERMA E CBD cleanser), I pat it dry, and then I apply this with a reusable cotton pad. I let my skin air dry for about a minute before continuing with my routine.

I love how my skin feels and how it looks. Most acids are too strong for my skin, but I’ve never had an issue with this one.

The first product from the August Allure beauty box that I’ll be reviewing is this delicious sugar scrub. After a long and sort of “blah” kind of day, this was the exfoliating refresher that my skin desperately needed.

The product holds the soft yellow hue of lemonade and the smell of a piña colada, and is super relaxing to apply. The sugar grains are invigorating but not too harsh. This was so fun to squeeze out and massage into my skin.

I have extremely sensitive skin, and I did not experience any irritation or discomfort from using this product. This is a great gentle exfoliator that is not going to disrupt your skin’s balance. The product features probiotic extracts and, you guessed it, pineapple! This is the perfect summer facial cleanser, and the smell makes you feel like you’re in a vacation spa.

When you rinse with warm water, the sugar and formula completely melts off your face, leaving your skin feeling cleansed but not stripped. I was almost hesitant after rinsing this off, because I did not get that satisfying “squeaky clean” feeling you get with some facial scrubs or cleansers.

However, after applying my normal skincare routine directly afterwards, which consists of a serum and lotion (I use Dior Capture Totale and DreamSkin) there was a noticeable benefit in how my products absorbed compared to if I had stripped my skin in a traditional cleanse.

Sort of like how you don’t want to strip your hair of all of its protective and natural oils, this is a great product to keep clean without depleting your natural moisture. I love that this contains probiotics, because over time I have seen how important it is to “feed” the microbiome on our skin and nourish it back to life.

I’m reminded of the same benefits from the Bloom cream I tried a few days ago. Overall, this is a fun and tropical retreat for your skin that will help you unwind after a long day at the office. Now if only they made a rose scent….

The packaging of this item is on point. It indicates that it has probiotics and superfoods which is very trendy lately so I was definitely intrigued. The scrub itself is very gentle and lightweight which accommodates my combination skin quite well.

I have very sensitive skin and have been weary of exfoliators because in the past I have had allergic reactions. However, this product did not react to my skin at all. I did not get a rash which makes this product very beneficial to my skin time routine.

It’s a scented product which I was a bit nervous about because some products can have a strong scent. This scrub, however, did not. It gives off an island beach vibe because it smells like pineapples and papayas which makes it even more appealing! The scrub itself is not oily or greasy at all.

I haven’t used this product for very long so I cannot speak of its long term affects but I am hopeful that it brightens my skin and gives me a more even skin tone just as it advertises. I highly recommend this product! My search for an effective exfoliator may have ended here!.

So I have tried this on my face cause the other exfoliating face scrubs/washes made my sensitive dry skin feel really tight and somewhat drier afterwards. So I use this and it makes my face clean without those negative feelings.

Now, I don’t know why I did this but I did it anyways. So, one day I had really irritated skin on my chest and neck, like tiny hives, and I just felt like it was due to impurities and what not. So I decided to use this on them.

After putting the scrub on and rubbing it over the areas I wanted, I waited for about 3-5 mins, then rinsed it off. I gotta say, it did not irritate or make my skin worse. But then, amazingly, an hour later, I noticed my skin feeling less irritated and less red, and the hives were going away.

So no matter how much money I spent on Eczema cream from dermatologists or steroid creams or moisturizers, nothing seemed to work well. But this sugar scrub seems to make my skin feel as good as new almost immediately.

I don’t know what the heck it is but I am so glad I found this stuff. I wish they made it in a bigger container though!!.

I don’t usually leave reviews on Ulta because so many people do. But this product I could not ignore. I have tried a number of Microdemabrasion Scrubs for sentive combination skin. Nothing seemed to get my skin smooth.

But this scrubs formulation works good for me. Remember people you have to use these items correctly for them to work. I cleanse my face first and then I apply this scrub to my wet face. I do gentle circles while apply a little pressure.

Not too much pressure ladies and gents because you can harm your skin. I do it for about a minute. I rinse it off good then pat my face dry. I apply my dermatologist gel for my acne, let that sit and dry down.

Then I apply my daily moisturizer. Once that dries down I then apply my ceramide serum. My skin is glowing! The scrub gives me smooth skin! I say give it a try! If anything changes I will do an update.

But so far 1 time a week is all I need!.

First, I hate all in 1s, I feel like they shouldn’t even be on the market. That’s just me, but I love separate products. If you’re going to be a cleanser, be a cleanser, don’t be a cleanser/body wash/shampoo.

A bit exaggerate, but you get the point. I hate all in one. This scrub was thick, which I liked, but o felt like it didn’t work for me. It was also more creamy for a scrub than I’m used to. I prefer when scrubs have a lighter texture because feel like they are better able to penetrate my skin where my pores are where you are advertised to get into and clean.

If you’re thick, how are you able to do what you were advertised to me to do?I used this scrub until the contents were empty but I didn’t see any changes in my skin. It didn’t break me out, so that’s a plus, but it was just ‘meh’ to me.

This is definitely one you can keep off your list to get if you have acne-prone skin or large pores.

Im adult whose acne has been a problem my whole life until I started using Neutrogena products. Ive tried multiple products but none of them kept my skin without irritation and breakouts. I’ve told so many people about the products I use and their acne disappeared.

I was disappointed when you discontinued two of my products. The breakout started again until I found the right combination again.

I have two tried and true acne products. This being one of them. I am mildly allergic to benzoyl peroxide so I only use salicylic acid products. I have used this for years. I don’t have particularly acne prone skin – I’d estimate the occasional hormonal guy, and a few small pimples a week.

I recently learned you *can* use salicylic acid daily, and have started using this mort often. Ultimately, I try not to exfoliate or overdo it though so my skin can get some natural breaks. Highly recommend.

I love this face scrub. I would use it everyday if I could but I have very sensitive skin. This product doesn’t burn my skin or anything like other face scrubs, but depending on how much pressure you apply when scrubbing, for me it will leave my face red for about 10-15 minutes afterwards.

It leaves my face feeling very smooth. As a guy, I was a little hesitant to purchase it because of the apricot scent. But once I recieved the product, the scent wasn’t too strong and once you wash it off, you can no longer smell it.

I use this scrub about 3 times a week. But for times when I break out really bad with acne, I will use it more often and it really does help. I wouldn’t recommend however using it everyday, from my experience, it can irritate my skin and dry it out after repeatedly using it day after day.

But then again the instructions recommend 2 to 3 times a week. It may be tempting to use it everyday and you see your acne be erased away but I wouldn’t recommend. Other than that it is a very good face scrub.

Scrub for me is not a very consumable care product, but if I liked the packaging and the structure came up, I can buy it and the product will last for a long time. The product perfectly removes dead cells, exfoliates and deeply cleanses pores.

After application, I noticed that the blackheads became less noticeable. And the most important thing for me is that the product does not cause irritation, the skin after application becomes smooth and tender like a baby’s.

For people with dry and sensitive skin, it’s really a big challenge to find the right scrub. But St. Ives copes with the task of effectively cleansing the skin, but at the same time without injuring it.

If you really want to have a great skincare routine, I’d pass on this product for sure. Yes, it may temporarily get rid of acne, but it is definitely stripping your moisture barrier while doing it.

If you do use this product, please don’t use it more than like once every 2 weeks. If you want your skin to be worse then before in the long run, get this product. If you want a more scientific answer, walnut shells do NOT break down in water… Meaning they will continue to scratch your skin badly even when you are removing the product.

I just think that it is way to easy to over exfoliate your skin with this product.

I have been using St. Ives Apricot Scrub since I was a teen. As soon as I was earning my own money from working I have been buying this. The great part about it is you can find it in any drug store or supermarket and it is really affordable yet gives you the same results as the expensive facial scrubs.

What I also love about it is the consistency is thick and you can really feel the exfoliant on your hands before applying the scrub to your face. I apply it to my wet face with my fingers. Because the consistency is so thick, I can really spend time scrubbing it in all over my face and it doesn’t disappear.

All it takes is a nickel size dollop pet use. It has a fresh fragrance to it that it not too strong. Once I have really covered my entire face, I rinse in warm water and instantly feel my skin has been polished.

Regular use prevents blackheads and clogged pores. It also eliminates blackheads and clogged pores in one use if you already have blemishes before using. It doesn’t dry out my skin, even with daily use.

It leaves my skin feeling supple and moisturized. St. Ives Apricot Scrub has been good to me and my skin for years and years so I am a loyal user and advocate for the product. Over the years they St.

Ives has released different formulations of the apricot scrub for all different skin types and skin concerns so everyone should be able to choose the formulation that suits their own personal skin care needs.

I really recommend this scrub to everyone because there is definitely a formulation of St. Ives Apricot Scrub that suits your needs.

I’m a 15 year old and I’ve had pretty bad acne since I was 11. I used all kinds of face washes, pads, and spot creams and none of them made a major change in my face. I decided to try out clearasil and the day after I used it I already noticed my face looked clearer.

I’ve been using it for 1-2 weeks now and my face is looking so much better and clear. My acne is usually really bad on my cheek and down next to my chin and those areas are starting to look so much better.

I get acne on my forehead too and my forehead is looking so much better now it’s crazy. I get a few pimples on my forehead, cheek, and chin area. But when I pop them then apply this stuff after they clear up good the day after unless they were really bad then they take a few days.

Works great for my 16-yr old son! Helps to clear and prevent acne. Do expect some purging, but that just means that this product is actually doing it’s job! His face hasn’t been this clear in 2 years.

If I could become an ambassador for this product I would, I have combination skin and sensitive and I have literally tried everything out there. I stumbled upon this product, saw the reviews and tried it.

LITERALLY within a day a third of my breakouts were already cleared up. I usually have great skin but around my monthly cycle I will tend to break out around my chin and this product goes above and beyond.

My sister now uses it for early acne she gets often and it’s already cleared her skin up after two days of use. Could not be happier with Clearasil and anyone reading this please trust that you need to get this if you want clear and clean skin and it’s SO inexpensive I’ve already stocked up on 5 of them.

I always buy this alongside the gel, I use them both. I love these products, glycolic products make my skin irritated and patchy, salicylic is perfect for my skin as I have adult acne around the chin area, the products cleanse deep, feel clean and my skin has improved immensely.

I have slight active skin around my t section too and this has visibly improved. Highly recommend along-side the gel cleanser. Nip fab salicylic is the only product I now use to clean my skin, my next purchase will be the salicylic moisturiser.

Oh I love this product. I bought Nip + Fab Glycolic scrub before, but I decided to try this one. It is amazing. Smells delicious. The scrub particles are small, so I don’t have this too harsh scrubbing feeling while using the product.

At first I wasn’t sure about this scrub. It wasn’t as grainy as some of their other exfoliators- and I like lots of bits to get a deep exfoliation. However, since using the scrub in contention with the tonic I have noticed a positive change in my skin.

It is less oily, my pores appear reduced, there is a reduction in clogging and breakouts. Very pleased with the overall outcome.

Clean and clear has been my favorite brand for facial cleansers for years. I had never tried this specific product so I was glad I got to try it for free. I can definitely say I will buy this one again.

Acne is not something I have to deal with all year but I do have bad breakouts during the summer due to the heat and sweat. I’ve been using this product for a week and I love it. The smell is very pleasant but mild at the same time.

I don’t mind scented products at all but it’s definitely a plus for people who do. The microbreads exfoliate the skin very well and give that clean and fresh feeling after use. Most importantly, it doesn’t make my skin dry which is also very important to me since I have a sensitive skin.

I recently had at the opportunity to try the Clean and Clear Acne Triple Clear Exfoliating Scrub, in combination with the rest of this care line and I was so happy with the results. This scrub feels amazing on your skin and smells amazing! After only one use I could tell my pores were cleaner! I waited about two weeks before writing this review to see if I could actually notice a difference in my acne and I’m happy to report I do think this line up worked wonderfully! I would suggest using this scrub in combination with the other cleansers, toner and moisturizers in the line to receive the best results.

This is now a staple in my routine. I’ve tried a few products from this brand and I was too excited about them. Then I received this in my Allure Beauty Box and it was amazing! I lightly dampen my face with warm water and use about a pea sized amount of product.

Gently covering my face, except my eye area) then I very gently massage. It doesn’t take a lot of product and I can manage about a minute, minute and a half and then I rinse really well. Always follow up with a hydrating serum and a heavy moisturizer.

No actives. The first time I used this, wow, what a purge. I have very congested pores and get wicked sebum buildup on my nose. My pores look so huge. This has helped with my pores, my winter flakey spots and even some sun damage on my nose.

Leaves my skin soft and has even helped with the texture. I do this twice a week in my bedtime skin care routine. This is a little pricey, but you don’t need a lot of product and I think it’s totally worth it.

I have very sensitive skin and exfoliants can irritate my skin, but I’ve had none of that with this.

To set the scene, I’ll tell you that I worked for a plastic surgeon and had access to all the clinical grade products you can imagine. I’ve tried a myriad of different products. I have sensitive skin with melasma.

I got this as a sample in a subscription box and gave it a try. I promise you, you haven’t had an exfoliant like this one! It’s not a rough texture like drug store products. It’s a finer texture that polishes away that dull layer of skin.

It leaves skin soft, glowing, and better able to absorb your treatments and moisturizer. It’s stupid expensive, but it doesn’t take much, and considering all the money I’ve wasted on inferior products, I’m willing to spend the money for this.

This could be the best soon care product I’ve even found, both clinical and otc!.

This exfoliator was my absolute favorite up until about a month ago. I was using this for about a year or so. I first discovered it through Ipsy and BoxyCharm and fell in love with it. This exfoliator comes out really thick but still creamy.

It’s super gritty with corse little pieces of sand-like or glass-like tiny tiny pieces. It’s not as thick as a lot of other exfoliators but it’s still just as effective. If I use water with it, it’s much more gentle and easy on my skin.

If I don’t use water with it, it is much more tough on my skin which I really like. It has a really refreshing cooling effect to it. It removes all dirt, oils and impurities from my skin without stripping it of its natural oils.

My skin is soft and smooth after using it, it brightens and lightens my sun spots and discolorations. I would use this twice or 3 times a week. I have really large pores so this stuff helped keep my pores clear of gunk.

With the cooling effect and with how gritty this product is, I’d recommend not using it on sensitive skin. Maybe try spot testing it but I think it would effect sensitive skin. I recommend it for all other skin types.

It’s definitely worth the purchase if you like Dr. Brandt as a brand BUT there are other more affordable brands that work almost just as good.

Wow wow and wow. I’ve only used 1 time so far and I’m blown away w how my face looks and feels. I read all the other reviews and hoped my experience would be like theirs. I 10000% will recommend this to everyone I know.

Amazing product.

I think it is extremely effective because you only need is two heaping spoon fulls,you sent with the product of it, it still has about a jar with only 10% gone because you mix it in with your face wash.

I WOULDN recommend the Neutrogena Microdermabrasion Machine because it doesnt help at all, which is why I gave them a 5* review but the contacted me and asked me to please change my * reviews to a 5 star.

Any way I dont recommend it because it only vibrates. Its misleading. I thought it went in a circular motion.
