An evergreen hedge is a row of shrubs or small trees that is planted close together and trimmed regularly to create a wall of foliage. This type of hedge is often used for privacy, as it can block out unwanted views and noise.
Evergreen hedges can be made from a variety of plants, including yews, boxwoods, and hollies.

The Ideal Evergreen Hedge Easy to grow Drought tolerant, once established Low maintenance Pest & disease resistant Adapts to many soils This all around American winner is naturally adapted to growing in native USA soil.
Unlike other holly trees, this specimen evergreen tree remains fully branched to the ground even at maturity. Tolerates Partial Shade Found in nature as an under story tree in New England forests, you know that you can plant this tall beauty in a somewhat shaded area of your yard and it will do just as well as in full sun.
From the coast of Massachusetts to southern Florida and west past the Mississippi River is the American Holly tree’s native range. Its amazing how many different climates this evergreen tree can adapt too! American Holly is an award winning evergreen tree! Perfectly suited to an easy-to-grow living wall for privacy or to block out noise.
For a hedge planting that fills fast, you still want to plant your American Hollies 4-5 feet apart. The excellent pyramidal shape makes this a great accent evergreen that will grow in any soil, even hard compacted clay.
Bright red winter berries will delight you and the birds! Great for holiday decorating So plan your yearly shearing of those American Hollies right before the Christmas season arrives for the freshest greenery.
Your trees are grown an extra year to make sure you plant only well-developed root systems in your yard. Planting and Care 1. Planting: Plant your American Holly tree in an area that receives full to partial sunlight (4 to 8 hours of sunlight per day).
For a hedge or privacy screen, plant your American Hollies about five feet apart. And make sure that your American Holly doesn’t sit in a low area of the yard that collects standing water. When you’re ready to plant, dig a hole that’s about 2 to 3 times the width of the root ball (and just as deep), place your American Holly and back fill the soil.
Add organic material to your soil to lighten the texture and improve drainage. Finally, mulch the surrounding soil to preserve moisture and water once planting is complete. Watering: Keep your soil moist until your tree is established.
Once American Holly Trees are established, they’re drought tolerant and only need extra water during dry spells. Fertilizing: Each year, in early spring, fertilize your American Holly Tree with a slow-release fertilizer for an acid-loving shrub (something like Holly-Tone).

I buy a lot of trees, pricing decent and healthy, pack and ship part good. HOWever, while they come in plastic root buckets they (clearly) were put in them just to ship. They need a few weeks at seller location in growth medium so that the roots fill in a bit and thus can come out of the bucket as a ‘root ball’ VS what happens with these.
these are BARE ROOT that happen to be set in a bucket of dirt just prior to ship. Greatly increases install work/care in first 60 days and. is really not hard to have them more solid in the root/dirt area so it comes out as one from bucket.
Drought tolerant and strong growing in a glistening shade of silvery bluish green, the Arizona Cypress, also known as the Drought Tolerant Evergreen, lives up to its name. It delivers unbelievably lush foliage in a sleek, conical silhouette.
All without effort for you. Especially since your Drought Tolerant Evergreen is grown and nurtured with care from day 1. When you order your tree from Brighter Blooms, you get a healthy tree upon arrival.
I ordered two items, the Arizona Cypress and the Tea Olive Shrub. They arrived packaged together in a secure container. Each was in a pot and in need of water but otherwise in great shape. The only comment for improvement would be to provide clear labeling on the cypress, or include an information sheet on the change in name.
Your site calls it Arizona Cypress -which is part of its scientific classification -but the tree came with the label, Cypress Carolina Sapphire. I was understandably concerned that the wrong item was shipped.
My trees arrived without damage. I planted them as directed. My only fear is not really knowing how to take care of them. I bought 2 Myers Spruce from you last Sept. They did fine through fall, all through winter and thru the first part of July then all of a sudden then started turning brown and then died.
I am sure it is something I did or didn’t do. Did I water them too much or not enough or what. I don’t want to lose my new trees because I didn’t take care of them right. Otherwise I love the trees!.
I couldn’t believe how vibrant and healthy these trees were when they came out of the box. When I planted them into the ground the branches spread out fully. Really can’t wait to see them grow. I am very happy with this purchase.
Every single order I have made through Brighter Blooms has worked out successfully.
Fast Growth for Instant PrivacyThe fastest-growing evergreen on the market, the Thuja Green Giant has become the go-to tree for landscapers, architects, and municipalities. Some of the other benefits of the Thuja Green Giant include its dense evergreen foliage that grows to ground level, meaning quick and effortless privacy, and its resistance to deer. Basically, nothing stands in the Thuja’s way.
And the Thuja keeps its uniform, columnar shape without pruning. Though many evergreen trees vary widely, the Thuja Green Giant is an arborvitae that naturally grows in a consistent columnar shape, taking very little space but providing maximum privacy.
In other words, the Thuja Green Giant is the ideal privacy hedge. Not only does this tree have a phenomenal growth rate, but its foliage grows so thickly and thoroughly that it’s nearly opaque. You’ll enjoy your yard or garden in complete privacy, away from your neighbors or traffic from a busy street.

The hedging I received was not of good quality. We bought 2 pieces to go on top of one another to make a high hedge and one piece was longer than the other. Plus the hedging was coming away from the backing.
Reliable and always classic, the Leyland Cypress is the most popular choice for privacy trees in the United States. Their popularity is for good reason, though, as these gorgeous evergreens grow 3-5 ft.
per year. In addition to speedy growth, they have a consistent, symmetrical form that only becomes more impressive as they mature. Be sure to leave room for these beauties to grow, though, as they can get 60-70 ft.

IšverstiShow in original languageI’ll be honest, I have never ordered plants/ trees online before, but I am so happy I took the chance with FGT. I ordered 6 privets and 1 burning bush to start with. They all arrived in great condition.
After a couple of days a few of the privets didn’t seem to be doing well. I called to see what I could do and Missy took care of it right away and sent replacements for the ones that did die. Not their fault.
plants are plants. My burning bush is amazing. I will ALWAYS be a forever customer with FGT. I have 10 acres to fill up, so Im looking forward to ordering more of plants, scrubs and trees. Another thing.
if you’re new to a certain plant or tree and you’re unsure about ANYTHING they will answer you with such detail and professionalism. If your on the fence about ordering online from FGT just do it. You’ll be incredibly satisfied and happy to see your new plants triving.
Thank you FGT. I’ll update with some pictures, but they are all so GORGEOUS. I couldn’t be happier.
IšverstiShow in original languageFedEx facility had a major issue and the plants were not shipped. Brighter Blooms canceled the order and shipped out fresh plants. All though when i received the plants they looked hot and dry with several broken limbs.
i unpacked them and took them in the house and let them cool down cut the broken limbs off then took them out on the shaded patio and watered them and they seem to be coming back to life. Thanks Brighter Brighter for reshipping fresh plants.
IšverstiShow in original languageTerrible experience from start to finish. I paid for 5 gallon plants and receive less than 3 gallon. With even pictures and measurements (measuring 6″x7″ rather than the 12″x12″ they stated), they argued with me several times back and forth.
Then offered to return 30% which still was the cost of a 3 gallon plant. It took 2 weeks of my time in emails and discussion to ever even get agreement for a credit, which I haven’t seen yet. So, $1,000 and I still don’t have the plants I wanted.
The Wintergreen Boxwood is a popular landscape shrub for a reason. With dense green foliage and small, smooth ovaline leaves, the Wintergreen Boxwood adds an instant dose of elegance and makes any landscape look more manicured.
Easily shaped and slow-growing. Wintergreen Boxwoods are often shaped into neat spheres, or cubes to form a long hedge. They can even be molded into creative topiaries. Plus, they’re slow-growing, meaning your shapes will stay intact longer, without constant pruning.
Manageable, plant-anywhere size. These boxwoods only grow 2-4 feet high and 3-5 feet wide, so you can easily plant them in hard-to-fill spaces. They work well as hedges, borders to sidewalks and driveways, or potted on patios and decks.
Easy-growing, even for new gardeners. One of the biggest benefits of the Wintergreen Boxwood? Its hardiness and tolerance. It’s adaptable to most soil types and is resistant to disease, pests and even deer.
The Top, Fast-Growing Privacy Evergreen With an annual growth rate that can exceed 4 feet each year, the Leyland Cypress is the cream of the crop when it comes to evergreens. This fast-growing tree is the go-to for creating a dense privacy screen, with its natural pyramidal shape and soft, scratch-free foliage.
And its commanding presence is second to none. Although the Leyland’s first year of growth will be slower as it begins to develop strong root systems, you can see measurable growth the first growing season and skyrocketing growth in subsequent years.
Plus, our Leyland Cypress features the best traits of two plants for a superior tree. For more than 130 years, the tried-and-true qualities of the Leyland Cypress come from two distinctive trees: Fast growth and sturdy branching from the Monterey Cypress, and a pyramidal habit from the Alaska False Cypress.
But without question, the Leyland Cypress Tree’s most valuable quality is the fact that it’s a living privacy fence. A row of Leyland Cypress Trees defines property lines as a living fence. Leyland Cypress trees also provide a sound and windbreak buffer, which is perfect if you live on a noisy street or at a busy intersection.
Even better? It grows naturally into the perfect shape. If prefer low maintenance, you’ll love the Leyland Cypress! Its natural growth needs no pruning whatsoever to maintain its perfect shape. And the rich green hue of the evergreen foliage is complemented by a slightly bluish-gray cast, so each tree provides year-round color to enliven your landscape, even in the dead of winter.
Whether you’re planting for privacy or trimming greenery to make garlands at the holidays, the Leyland Cypress Tree is the picture of versatility. This elegant tree ticks all the boxes of luxuriant landscape style, with low-maintenance and lush greenery to boot.

All twenty-eight trees seem to be doing well. I only wish the first ten that I ordered were three to four footers like the last eighteen. They are going to take forever to provide a privacy screen. Also I hope planting them at four foot intervals is correct advice.
Other sites have advised planting them at three foot intervals, which seems to make more sense.
This “tree” was barely two feet tall and arrived with the branches flattened on one side of the tree. When purchasing a tree that is advertised as between 2-3 feet in height, I would consider this false advertisement.
I emailed customer service and received no response.
I received 2 fairly healthy trees, but I was disappointed with how small they were. I had ordered the smallest size, which I think is 12 inches tall, but mine were about 6 or 7 inches tall. Also, the pot of one was smashed in.
Kramer’s Red Heather (Erica x darleyensis ‘Kramer’s Red’) is an evergreen shrub that’s packed full of magenta flowers from mid winter to mid spring. While most other plants are saving their blooms for spring and summer, this award-winning shrub provides wonderful (and much needed) winter color to the landscape and requires little maintenance! Kramer’s Red Heather grows to around 12″ tall and 24″ wide.
My experience ordering from The Greenhouse was a good one. They communicated the shipping times, which were crucial during a recent heat wave. The plant was carefully packaged and arrived in great shape.
I was a little unsure how a few of them would do upon arrival. But I had high hopes because I was attentive to them when planted and they seemed as though they began to bounce back. But unfortunately 3 of the six didn’t survive the winter.
Such a bummer because they are a sweet little pop of color in the stark winter.
The plants were packed well, and arrived when expected and in good condition. The instructions were clear and appropriately detailed. It has been a couple of weeks since planting. They seem to be adjusting to their new home.
The Leyland Cypress is a fast-growing evergreen tree with a pyramidal shape. The tree’s dense growth and tall height make it a great choice for creating a border shade that will block unwanted sights and reduce neighborhood noise.
Besides its utility, this evergreen is nice to look at with feathery soft, textured leaves. The tree grows 3 ft. to 4 ft. per year and reaches a height of about 60 ft. to 70 ft. and a spread of 15 ft.
to 25 ft. The Leyland is drought tolerant and hardy in Zones 6-10. The Leyland should be planted in full sun but can tolerate most types of soil, as long as they are well-drained. Once planted, prune for the first few years in order to encourage dense growth.
These trees look great upon arrival. Mine however died early the following year. They were promptly replaced after forwarding documentation. Much appreciated! However, they should DEFINATELY include specific planting and care instructions WITH THE SHIPMENT OF THE PLANTS.
Maybe mine would have had a better chance, even though I I was being extremely cautious and mindful. I truly hope these replacement do well!!.
Good morning. This is the second year I’ve tried Leyland cypresses here in Sierra vista. They died last year. This year I did as much research as possible to keep the four I bought this year alive but it looks like they are dying again.
Can I swap these out for a more native evergreen tree by utilizing my warranty? Thank you kindly.
Healthy young trees were delivered very quickly and completely without damage. They are a great addition to a formerly barren front yard. I don’t know what the former owner had against trees and other plants.
But our ‘new’ property already has beautiful Leyland Cypress Trees growing. Thank you, Garden Goods Direct!!!.
If you’re looking for a way to create privacy in your backyard, an evergreen hedge is a great option. Evergreen hedges are dense and can grow to be quite tall, providing a physical barrier between your property and your neighbors.
In addition, evergreen hedges can provide noise reduction and can help block out unwanted views.
