20 Best Emergency Generator For Home (2023 Updated)

My Generator was delivered and was in the box until it was installed today August 29, 2020. Upon turning it on, the certified electrician noticed that something was wrong with it and sure enough, the brass or copper accordion connector in the muffler line was not installed.

I called factory pure, but only got the sales people who could not help me. I called Generac and now I have to wait for a certified repairman to come and inspect my 22kw Generac Generator. Brand new, never opened Generac generator and I already have problems with it.

Extremely disappointed that it was not inspected by Generac before shipping and extremely disappointed that Factory Pure did not have someone available to assist. You guys do realize that mother nature, nor these generators, know about weekends.

I bought the generator because after hurricane Helen, my family and I were without power for 25 hours. I wanted reliability and that is what I do not currently have. Very disappointed. Over $7,400 spent on the generator and installation combined and I have a brand new generator that is inoperable sitting in my lawn.

Ridiculous!.

Long story short. Purchased April 2021. Due to propane tank shortage got fully installed June 2021. When the electrician attempted to test it. The starter or relay or something is out. Brand new battery so that’s not the issue.

Terrible quality control. At this point Generac could give me a generator and I’d trade it in for another brand. Maybe I’ll get years of great service. Until then my Generac is a $6,000 piece of junk.

We moved into a new home, and because I am on oxygen full time I am in need of electricity to operate my oxygen concentrator. Generac was my answer. No mater where I looked there were none available.

Your company had the only ones available in the soonest time. But, it was still about three months out. My guess is there is a high demand with all the devastation right now. Anyway you said it would be toward the end of October, BUT you delivered the first week of October.

Overall a good generator. However having a few hopefully minor and hopefully covered under warranty issues. For some reason half the time it starts, it throws a 1505 RPM sense loss error code. All electrical connections have been checked including the battery and they read out great.

On top of that, one of the threaded holes on the carburetor was found to be completely stripped out from the factory! Looks like someone tried to cover it up by gluing the bolt into the hole with some Loctite.

Besides these hopefully minor issues, that should be fixed shortly by an authorized Generac technician under warranty, this model seems like it should be solid otherwise.

I had a 16k Generac for 13 years. Ran hard a lot. I live in rural WV and have a lot of power outages. Had almost no problems. I decided to I upgrade to the 7209 24k. Very easy to change out myself. Just had to upsize my gas line to 3/4, and wiring to #2.

So far it is awesome. Runs much easier and a little quieter. I do highly recommend Generac and have installed a few for my neighbors.

Had a GE 20kw for 8 yrs. Recommendations for the oil was 5w30 but they didn’t give any temperature reference so the engine thru a rod. Bought the generac as my cousin has the same model and uses it 2-3 weeks in the winter with no issues.

Waiting to have it installed.

To my surprise it was not as loud as we were expecting, we hooked up a portable pancake compressor to charge it up and my wife even commented on how much louder the compressor was compared to the generator.

Do not misunderstand the generator is loud but compared to past generators we’ve had and this being a 9500 with up to 12500 start up this is not too bad for noise. Someone recommended a pulse flo muffler to quiet it down more, anyone else tried this yet? I had not considered westinghouse but after reading many reviews and researching we decided on this model.

First thing that grabbed my attention was the quick connect and disconnect for the battery, that makes it great for storage without any draw on the battery, may be minor but those are things that set it apart.

Second was the dual fuel option, the ability to run propane if out of gas. We went with the larger model because of the ability to kick on our well pump 400 feet down and run our variable booster pump.

Everything on our property is electric no gas available so this was the model for us with its extra power at start up. On this note this is something else that impressed me and leaned me to westinghouse; their power listing (on gas) was the running voltage, 9500 not the startup 12500, where other generators would list their startup voltage of the product instead of running volts.

So for the price and product comparison of multiple generators westinghouse was the choice for us, given we could have spent $500 or more for a “bigger name” that running and startup would be similar ,but for what I need and the price, based on numerous reviews this was my choice.

An extra that we’ve never had is the key fob, and it actually works, in the past everyone would shower and get ready for bed and Dad would have to go outside to shut down the generator get covered in exhaust, or rain, snow, whatever, now I push a button it stops.

Next morning dont have to bundle up and pull. pull, pull to fire the generator to get mommas coffee going just hit the button and it fires, nice touch. As I get older this push to start and key fob are nice to have, youth and pull start had their time but im not getting younger so push button start and key fob are way to go.

Many nice additions like the 50 amp option on this also drew me in, I like having the 30 and 50 option. Good generator good options happy with my choice for now. Now for a few things that could make this better, First a shutoff on the gas tank with an additional drain option, as on a quad with fuel on, off, and reserve selection.

This only has open fuel and close, to drain the tank I had to remove the line to completely drain the tank into a gas can, I do this now from the cheap gas we have too many carb cleanings and replacing gas tanks from bad gas, coating tanks and carbs.

yes I add stable and use higher octanes but just draining tanks has served me best. So i would suggest a 3 way fuel shutoff with a line for draining tank option. On that note, the gas tank, to completely drain or use all your gas you need to set the generator on an angle to get all gas to run to the shutoff.

Is an angled tank an option or a tank with a low spot at the shutoff an option? Other wise a cinder block to get it all to the shutoff works fine, except this plays in to the age again, getting it on that block is your work out.

A neutral observation; This 9500df is heavy, which makes it stable and is a huge deterrent for anyone thinking they are going to steal it, grab it ,load it in their truck and take off, If they can pick that sucker up by themselves its theirs.

I do like the weight for theft deterrent, but at the same time make sure you have a ramp to load this thing. For the weight it does move around easily wheels are nice, i prefer pneumatic but these move this unit fine on the hard surfaces.

, as for the handle I do like it tucks down out of the way and is at a good height for rolling. So overall great product good engineering ideas, I would recommend it, will work great for out in the property ,hopefully the engine and electric will last for as long as needed, but like auto insurance hopefully not needed very often.

Received my Westinghouse 9500DF generator, and overall I’m very pleased with it. I set it up this week to connect to my transfer switch to power some critical circuits in my house during power failures, which are unfortunately very common in the winter here in the Poconos.

Contrary to other reviews, I found the owners manual to be completely accurate. I’m running the unit with gasoline, and I also have a 40lb propane tank hooked up for longer outages. Switching between fuel sources while the unit is running is very simple, though the unit will stumble while the fuels are being purged, so I recommend removing load during a switch over to avoid a stall.

Starting the unit using the electric start is a real pleasure compared to the recoil starter on my old unit. A couple of caveats that aren’t clear in the pre-purchase material: 1) The 14-30 plug on the unit provides a maximum of 30 amps, as expected, but be aware that this means a maximum wattage of 7500 watts is intended to be carried on that cable.

If you need the full 9500 running wattage, that can only be supplied by the 50amp RV connector, which will not hook up directly to a 30 amp transfer switch. 2) In order to use the electric start (on the unit or using the remote) the battery switch on the generator must be in the “on” position.

This limits the utility of using the remote starter unless you’ve anticipated a power outage and had the forsight to turn the battery switch on. 3) The comes with a bonded neutral, which may not be appropriate for use with older transfer switches which do not switch the neutral.

In that circumstance, instructions are provided to make a minor alteration to unbond the neutral, but if you do, be aware that the GFCI protection on the built-in outlets will be lost, which could present a hazard.

Better to not use the built-in outlets if you’re going to be unbonding the neutral. Overall, a very solid product. I’ll be sure to follow up after I’ve used it through a northeast winter.

It appears to be a solid unit. It has enough power to support my entire home. All appliances function and can be used as normal, including central AC, window AC, two fridges, sump pump, dehumidifier, washer/dryer, dishwasher, etc.

although when the central AC comes on the inrush is a real kick in the groin for this unit but it does recover quickly and carries on. I did not buy this for the propane option (don’t want to take the hit on wattage) and I have two 30 gallon fuel drums, so I cannot attest to it’s functioning on propane as I have not tried that option.

Like many of the reviews out there for this unit, I had problems with getting this unit started. I don’t have any propane and I am disabled and incapable of using the pull-start, so the only choice I had was the auto-start sequence and gasoline.

I ran and restarted the sequence 4 times and it would not start. After going over this unit top to bottom with a fine tooth comb (had spark, was getting fuel to carburetor from tank) and after about 15 start cycles I finally found the problem.

The automatic choke apparently has a very weak actuator and the choke lever was barely brushing up against the backside of the PCV hose (which is inconveniently positioned horizontally directly in front of the choke lever) with enough force to stop the travel of the choke actuator before it reached the fully closed position and thus starving the engine during the start cycle.

I rerouted the PCV hose to run in front of a vertical line to the vapor canister which keeps the choke lever from brushing up against the PCV hose. Now, without interference the automatic choke functions properly and the unit starts within 3 seconds of initiating the start sequence.

The only other issue with this unit is the obvious design flaw of placing the 50 Amp receptacle directly over the wheel which severely impedes the use of the receptacle with pretty much any 50 Amp cable.

I haven’t installed this one yet. But as far as the delivery to my home office went,that part went good. The price was excellent for Generac equipment. Best I’ve seen going around the internet. This is my 2nd time buying from Factory Pure….

I bought a couple transfer switches one time. So far,my experiences have been excellent.

Only a factory authorized service technician is now allowed to change settings in the control board other than exercise time. The generator is listed as starting within six seconds on their website and yet it comes in whereby it will not start the engine for 35 seconds and it will not transfer for 45 seconds this is designed specifically to keep non-factory authorized service technicians from installing the generators.

I called Generac and they said in order to change it to the six seconds I have to have the factory technician install it or they will charge the same amount of money to come out and change the setting.

It will function fine but not start for 30 seconds. I have to make that clear to my customers. I will no longer push the Generac to my customers. I will push the Cummings, Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, and above all else I will push the Cummings generator.

I bought this after a recent storm took out the power. It was 5pm on Saturday of a long weekend and after about 7 hours of blackout, I decided I’d better get something while I still could. This unit meets my power requirements and was on clearance for a substantially lower price.

By the time I got home, the power was back on, so I ran it through the break-in period, changed the oil and put it away until next time. It was easy to install the wheel kit, but the included oil funnel doesn’t work well if you’re trying to pour from a big container.

It started after about 5-6 pulls, which I expected for a dry fuel system. It’s about as loud as any other small engine equipment. About the same as a lawnmower, for example. The only negative thing I have to say is, It doesn’t have a fuel gauge.

This is a great model. Of the ones I’ve been a part of, they’ve been phenomenal. They are the smallest of the two cylinder Generac Auto-Standby generators in the Residential Class. Two cylinders perform better with heavier loads.

The smaller generator size means less fuel required to provide service. So, as long as it’s sized correctly it’ll do the job for less. I believe only one of the 10 kw generators has an alarm registered in the alarm history – and that was prior to purchase, which means it most likely occurred at the factory.

The others that I’m associated with have zero alarms in their alarm history going back close to ten years. An impressive history of reliability. The owners of these units haven’t had a bad thing to say about their decision to go with this 10 kw model.

They use to be packaged with a Whole House Transfer Switch but I haven’t seen that in a while. To purchase the generator and the transfer switch separately drives the cost up to where the 14 kw unit looks more attractive.

It may be a decision to more closely provide the coverage without disappointment, I’m not certain of the reason.

Our generator was installed by a local company and was not working when they did the start up. We were informed parts needed to be ordered. This was not acceptable for us as we paid for a brand new unit, not one that would be repaired (refurbished).

After speaking to the installing company and Generac and voicing our concerns that we feared paying so much for something that was broken and not in new condition, Generac came through and permitted the installer to swap out our unit for another new one.

It started immediately and is working as it should. We now have peace of mind if we are hit with a power outage here in the Gulf. Thank you Generac and everyone that I spoke to that day. You were all so kind as we were so upset.

I live in an older neighborhood with large trees and I typically lose power a few times per year. I only need something that can run my gas furnace, refrigerator, a few lights, TV and charge phones. I tested it and this generator runs everything at the same time without a hitch.

I don’t want a generator that can power my whole house which would use much more fuel. I did purchase a Voltec 04-00215 adaptor to make use of the RV plug for connecting extension cords to. I am impressed by the build quality of this generator.

You do need to add oil before first use, not included. You must remove two metal brackets on the generator before using. If you don’t remove them, the engine is locked to the frame and the generator might vibrate and move around.

Follow the included instructions. It started on it’s first pull outside in cold weather!.

This was supposed to be a great generator for a good price. I think I got a damaged one. It would not sit flat on the ground, like the metal frame was warped. Then I noticed scratches and a few other components were not aligned properly.

Sadly, I discovered this after re-jetting the carburetor and adding synthetic oil and gas. Also, it was not as quiet as I had hoped. Instructions were great though, and it ran my trailer AC unit and microwave without a problem.

The thing won’t start. No spark. it’s probably going back next week. It has 17oz of syn oil. Non ethanol gas. Gas on, switch on, choke in all positions. Held the spark plug wire in my hand while someone pulled cord.

Barely felt a jolt.

I bought this new 7000is generator instead of the EM6500s that I went in for. My 24 year old EB6500s was suddenly having an issue delivering the usual 120v that it had been delivering when I needed it to.

Due to the age of my older unit, I decided to buy a new one and repair the old one for spare. I looked at the 7000is when I went in and studied the features vs. the older, more seasoned 6500s. So, I bought it.

The reputable dealer said that it was set-up and load tested and ready to go. When I got it home, I started it up twice and checked the voltage output and was delighted that it delivered 126v/253v at no load! That was great.

A week later, we had another outage and I went to use the new 7000is, but was surprised and then frustrated that even though it started up right away, it suddenly stopped running while I was letting it warm up.

It re-started easily and did not repeat the stoppage. Then, to my surprise, after it warmed up and I checked the voltage output, it produce none! NONE! It did not matter which switch combination I selected either.

It produced no output from any receptacle. I tried once, twice and a third time, but no output. My son, with the manual in his hand, also tried every combination, just to ensure that I wasn’t missing something, but still no output.

So, with great frustration, I got the old 6500s out and as it warmed up, the voltage stabilized to 115 to 118v and I used it to power the house. After running the 6500s for through two tanks of fuel, I decided to just try the new one and to my surprise, it started, warmed up and produced the correct voltage from the appropriate outlet/switch positions.

I used it for the next twelve hours or so and it ran fine and continued to produce the correct voltage. The only thing wrong? It doesn’t register any load readings on the display, no matter how high or low they are.

The good news is that the 7000is “sips” fuel compared to the 6500s, just as Honda promised. So, can I trust the new 7000is to protect my home from freeze-up, or lost food, or no water from the well, or lights, during the next outage, of which we have many? I bought a set of replacement brushes for the 6500s and will have that back ready just-in-case.

The fact that this is a 5500 watt inverter generator that bumps up to 7000 watts for the larger startup draw on things like air conditioning and microwaves would be enough for most people. But people that do not know the difference, don’t realize, that the reason generators fail to start is because of the lack of use.

It may sit for years with gas in it before you ever try to use tin an emergency Well, gas that sits in any generator”s gas tank (and carb) for an extended period of time will gum up a carburetor leaving it disabled.

For a small engine motor that is almost never used, the introduction to fuel injection on a generator was a game changer. Let me state. I wouldn’t keep 3 gallons of gas in the tank for five years and expect it run the next time I needed it to, but I bet it would.

In short. If you can. Run the gas out empty as much as possible every season. The fuel injectors aren’t as susceptible to gumming from stale gas as carburetors are. Keep a battery tender on it though because the generator won’t charge the on board battery sufficiently.

It’s a known problem. Just deal with it like I have for years.

You will need two grown men to get this thing in and out of a truck. Its a beast. Very well packaged for shipping. It has to be. First impression is very well built, all heavy duty. Put the wheels and support legs on with ease.

This thing is just so heavy so I had it on some 6×6 blocks to get it off the floor to help with that task. Battery comes with it, bit of a pain to form cables in small area to land them on battery posts.

Added my oil and good gas and it fired right up. It is so quiet. I could not be more happy with how quiet it is. Please do the right thing and break this generator in correctly. Plenty of information on line to get this done.

This generator has everything you need to get through a power outage. Yes they are very expensive, but piece of mind is priceless. It is so well built it should last for years if properly cared for. It is by far the baddest somewhat portable generator on the planet.

You will not regret the purchase. Again. Its a beast.

After unit was installed and working properly I experienced my first power outage. The unit did not turn on until I manually went out and turned it on. Two weeks later I experience another power outage.

Unit would not come on and appeared to be dead, called electrician and found the battery was dead. Installed new battery and started unit, ran for less than 3 minutes and shut off. Called generac certified contractor, came out to inspect unit.

Unit was not charging the battery properly, and the carburetor needed replacement parts. Im still waiting on the proper parts to fix the h it and the contractor is not sure if that will fix the unit.

It has been nothing but a pile of crap, has never ran properly after Initial install test.

I bought the Generac generator to install at my mothers house, as she lives out in the country and regularly loses utility power. The generator arrived exactly when it was supposed to and installation was pretty straight forward.

I did hire an electrician to wire in the transfer switch, and would recommend doing that for anyone who does not possess those skills. Initial start up went smoothly and programming the self test feature was simple to do, just follow the prompts.

Generac customer service was very helpful and easy to work with during initial start setup. Anyone looking for the security of a whole house generator will not be disappointed with a Generac system.

Even after the long wait. And finally, finding a good electrician. It works well. But it is a little noisy. I think I will build. Some insulation around it. To keep it a little quiet.

This generator is a beast. a truly Big Friggin Generator! 😉 To be honest, I can’t share a whole lot yet since, aside from starting it a few times just testing things out, the only time I’ve used it so far was for 6 or so hours last week when we were having some electrical work done so the power from the road was cut.

During that period we were only running a handful of things off extension cords so the generator wasn’t even breaking a sweat. but it ran great, was easy to start, and despite it’s obvious heft was pretty easy to roll around to the front of the house and then back into the carport when I was done.

The reason for the elec work was to have a main disconnect installed, allowing me to fully (though manually) transfer from utility power to generator for everything in our home without worry of back-feeding the grid.

I’ll update again once we’ve tested the generator in this capacity, but I have no doubt it is going to perform just as well under an actual load. It may be early, but so far I am extremely pleased with this purchase.

The one ‘negative’ I’d add is that I wish this model had the option (out of the box) to also run on LPG. But at the end of the day, if I have to keep plenty of gas cans around, so be it. —————————————- Update: Sept 2021 Being in Southwest MS, I thought it might be a good idea to finish up the work that was needed to hook up the generator to the house prior to Hurricane Ida moving through.

So I did just that. about 24 hours before she hit. 😮 Our power went out just before 1AM the night she came through and stayed off for just over 3 days. After the first day of running, I shut it down, let it cool off, and changed the oil to some quality 5w30 full synthetic.

After that, it was only a matter of keeping gas in it. We found that the generator could easily power all our lights and appliances (including 1 fridge and 2 upright freezers) as well as the hot water heater and two mini-splits in an addition we just completed.

We could use our dryer, microwave, toaster oven, even our induction stove with no issue as long as the water heater wasn’t running at the same time (which I would just flip off if we planned to run any of the above).

In fact, while it did pull a pretty good load on startup, it would even run our central a/c!!! Aside from running multiple hi-amperage devices at once, the only thing I found that it would not run was the heat / furnace for our central unit.

It’s all electric so when the heating elements kicked on, it threw the 50A breaker on the generator. Certainly can’t complain about that! Having put it through some real use, I am even more pleased than before!.

Great having peace of mind thanks to a whole house generator. We rely on well water, and need the furnace to be running in winter in upstate NY. Since installing the generator last fall there’s been several momentary utlity outages lasting less than a minute and generator starts up and lights are back on within 10 seconds.

The transition back to utility power is so seamless that I have to go check if the generator is still running (it’s not). We had a 3-day outage in June after major thunderstorms knocked out power in the area.

Generator did not skip a beat, power in house was rock solid (no flickering lights, no dimming when big load starts up). Only quibble is the wi-fi: the MobileLink app is nice to check status under normal conditions, but when utility power goes down, so does internet service.

Home wi-fi is down when internet service is down, so MobileLink is useless to check generator status, as well as to get informed when utility power comes back on. Generac ought to be providing an LTE modem instead of wi-fi connection to the generator.

That’s why I gave 4 stars to features rather than 5.

I ordered this generator set on a Thursday morning and it arrived the next day around 6 pm! I was shocked it arrived so fast. I’m a career maintenance technician so the installation was a breeze for me.

Did the entire install myself, including running the gas line and the electrical connections. If you have no experience with either, I firmly recommend you get a professional to do those two things. The maintenance on the unit is very easy because Generac has engineered the set for easy access to oil and filter.

The unit comes with clear instructions and a template for mounting on your own slab. My wife is very happy as she won’t have to deal with a portable generator in my absence!.

Only have had it installed a month. So far, so good. I have all the cold weather accessories, but all I’ve talked to say that the breather heater is problematic. I haven’t been able to check this out yet.

I ordered the battery when I ordered the generator because the rep told me it doesn’t come with one. Well, now I have an extra battery I don’t need, because it did come with one. I put heavy in as a con, but I’m bot sure.

Heavy can also mean well made, not flimsy.

Generator is running perfect at this time. The big test will come this winter when the power goes out for the first time. It fired right up the first time I started the motor and was able to handle the load.

It is starting up weekly as scheduled. I did the installation myself and the directions (manual) were amazing, easy to follow, and provided excellent diagrams. I took my time with the installation to make sure I was following each step carefully.

The only problem that I ran across was the size and location of the electrical knockouts. The generator had a 3/4″ knockout but it really should be 1″. I was able to find a generac 7kW – 11kW bundled wire from a different e-store but the with the sheathing the wire size was a little to large to push through the 3/4″ knockout.

The transfer switch box had a 1″ knockout and a 3/4″ knockout but the 1″ knockout was not large enough to pull the needed wires from the main panel. The location of the knockouts were also limited to one location for the 3/4″ and two possible locations for the 1″.

In the end I solved the problem by renting a knockout punch and making my own holes where I needed them. I strongly recommend you plan for this, it was a thousand times easier with larger conduit in the location I needed.

After two blackouts in the Northeast this year (2020) I’ve decided to install a generator. My first choice was a portable generator with manual panel. After an extensive research I realized I can get this natural gas unit that is combined with an Automatic Panel for about the same price.

I went ahead and bought the generator it landed on my curbside in three days. The unit itself weight around 200 lbs it took me my wife and kid to move it to its final destination. I built a platform using 3X3 and pea gravel.

Installing the unit is easy, you can do it yourself if you are proficient with gas connections and electricity, otherwise recruit some help. After about a week I got it installed and working. It has most of the features of more expensive units and can power a good chunk of your home.

I connected: A big fridge, A/C, Air Handler, Gas Boiler,Couple of light circuits, All my sensitive electronics. They all work together, powered by the generator. My overall cost ended up $2500 that’s for the unit and all the extra stuff I needed (cables, pipes, conduits, battery, other chachkes).

Few side notes:The unit doesn’t ship with a battery. A U1 type with 300 CCA is required. Generac is offering 24/7 support and will answer all you questions, including some stupid ones (believe me, I tried).

Rating of 2 out of 5 with 5 being best mostly due to equipment reliability. If youre considering purchasing a Generac Generator, review the warranty on the accessories. There are 3 Smart Management Modules (SMM) boxes with one each connected to the Heat Pump, Cooking Stove and Clothes Dryer.

I had a 22KW Standby Generator installed in Oct 2018 with a 10-year warranty. After it was installed, I discovered the SMM Boxes only had a one-year warranty. Within 3 years, 5 circuit boards in the SMM Boxes have burnt out requiring the circuit boards with 2 SMM Boxes to be replaced, I called Generac to complain and received Zero Assistance.

After paying $9,000 for the equipment, I shouldnt be experiencing frustration with the down time and additional expenses.

purchased this for a customer and installed remotely as a whole house install. had new natural gas lines run and an automatic outdoor rated 200 amp transfer switch upgraded home service to 200 amp from 125amp service.

ran new lines underground to house used new 200 amp panel to support whole house essential and generator powered circuits and used old panel to contain the non essential circuits with a contactor connected to a 50 amp SMS to disconnect / power shred the existing panel from the 200 amp during a power outage.

why cant generac design a remote monitor system that doesn’t cost money monthly and would allow you to program / check status of system inside house / easy peasy. system has battery charge issues as well as shows overcrank error constantly.

and now apparently i need to run a internet connection to the pole 200 feet away to pickup the darn wifi signal. im a red seal low voltage electrician and have hired a high voltage electrician to pull the needed permits.

I can see some eager engineer sitting behind a desk telling Genrac that he can save them money on every unit sold by NOT putting an alternator on them. It does have a battery maintainer to keep it charged, but as soon as the power goes out and the battery runs down, the engine will stop running.

I understand that most generators have to only run for a few hrs. at a time. But living near the Gulf of Mexico we have to have generators that will run for possibly days at a time, not hrs. Which is what I experienced last yr.

with Hurricane Delta. I had a 16kw Generac which ran for 3 days non stop and had no problems. I upgraded this yr. to a 22kw and found out after the fact about it not running once the battery dies. I now have to keep a second battery charged and ready to go at all times.

I regretfully say that I would not recommend this generator until this problem is resolved.

The product came on a pallet in great condition. Install/set-up was easily accomplished with the included tools. It is heavier than my previous generator (5,500W) which is to be expected. That said, the handles/wheels make it easy to move.

Note: I had my wife move it around the garage and she was also able to do so without straining (Huge plus incase I am out of town and she needs to set it up herself) Overall features + the high starting watts is the reason for my upgrade to this new generator.

Excited to test it out.

One minor issue. I am 69 years young it was hard to get down on my chest and read the Product and Serial numbers. You MUST also have a Powerful Flashlight to highlight the numbers and letters. Recommendation copy the Product and Serial number to a tag that can be placed on the banner with the DURO13000DX name (easy to Locate and Read).

It would have made this customer VERY Pleased. That is why only 4 stars and not 5.

I was pricing generators and which way to go about wiring my house to be compatible for hurricane season. After looking into it I could not afford the big general standby so I bought this one, XP12000E Duromax, with an inlet plug wire to my house.

One power cord connecting to the 50amp outlet and one to the inlet on the house and I can run everything I need plus my central a/c. I highly recommend this brand to anyone. Very satisfied for a fraction of the cost.

And very easy to assemble and operate.

I just purchased the XP10000X generator for my single parent daughter’s home. After receiving and setting it up, I was very impressed with the User Manual’s content and the safety features of the unit.

Although it has not been used at the house yet, it started up initially and runs great. I have all the confidence that it will supply her house with the needed power in any future power emergency. Also, what few questions I had, Customer Service responded to my emails PROMPTLY ! I’ll recommend this unit to all my friends & relatives in the future.
