Experience the one tiller that’s truly up to the task! Introducing a greener, cleaner way to get dirty with the Sun Joe TJ602E Electric Tiller Cultivator. A powerful 8-amp motor quickly pulverizes dirt, effortlessly slicing through the soil at 300 rpm, ensuring maximum aeration, and perfectly preparing the seedbed for planting.
Cultivate an area 12-inches wide and up to 8-inches deep in seconds. Control weeds where needed – TJ602E tames the toughest yard and garden tasks with more comfort and less strain. 3-position, height-adjustable rear wheels make it easy to maneuver wherever it’s needed – and its collapsible handle makes it a cinch to store when it’s not.
Unable to dig much anymore due to arthritis, I decided it was time to invest in in a rototiller. I looked for the lightest weight one with the best reviews for ease in handling. I am ecological and prefer electric but avoid batteries as much as possible.
This little wonder-machine has been perfect. And it’s not noisy, which my urban neighbors appreciate, I am sure.
I’ve used my Sunjoe Tiller twice. I’m a 57 year old lady who loves to garden. I had top soil delivered and had it leveled. The dirt became hard and packed and was difficult to manually use a hoe and rake on it.
I saw the good reviews on this tiller and price was reasonable. I am VERY pleased with this tiller. I would definitely recommend it.
There’s no need for backbreaking labor or messy gas refills with this modern electric tiller and cultivator that you can just plug in and instantly turn on. Tiller joe’s powerful 6. 5 amp motor and four steel tilling blades will make short work of turning ground into loose soil for planting.
Perfect for your small to mid-size garden beds, the TJ600E cultivates a space measuring 14 inches wide and up to 7 inches deep.
We love this tiller for our garden! Was lucky enough to catch it on a one day sale! It’s perfect for our small garden and the flower beds. It turns the dirt and clay over so easily, ready for planting.
It turns it into fine particles of dirt so easily. It’s electric and now glad we don’t have to put gas/oil in it; have a plug socket close by! So happy we caught this sale and went for the 14 inch size!!.
The product work well and the only problem I had initially was that roots will eventually built up and stop the tiller causing me to remove the roots. But eventually one handle and another handle started to break.
The first handle screw slowly loosening and then broke a I call customer service because I had the warranty but all they cared is about the decal number. My tiller did not come with one and the areas where the decal supposedly reside was not there.
Instead I had to fix it myself using tape and screws I purchase. A few months later the other handle that controls the button broke. This model has a design flaw because the handle cannot handle wear and tear.
I will not purchase another tiller from sun joe until they make their handles metal.
I purchased this item on 4/12/16 and it arrived on 4/16/16- pretty fast shipping !! Assembly was very quick, and the unit appeared to be well built. I intended to use it for weed control rather than gardening.
Since I live in the Mojave desert, with mostly desert sand for soil, I figured this unit would do the job. and it did, for approximately 200 square feet of tilling. The unit was working great and then it suddenly slowed down maybe 50 to 75 rpm.
So I shut it off and waited maybe 12 minutes, figuring that the motor might have been getting too warm. (Most electric motors are protected from overheating by a thermal overload sensor which stops the motor in the event of excess heating.
After my break I attempted to restart my tilling but the unit would not start. I checked all connections to outlet and tiller. ( my chord is 100 ft and #12awg. ) Still no fire. So I checked the circuit breaker and found that the 20 amp breaker had tripped-( not a good sign!) I waited about 2 hours and tried to start again, but no luck.
I liked the way this tiller worked and the design of what you can see look good, but what’s inside seems suspect. I am returning the unit for repair and will update this review in the near(?) future.
With its durable convertible tines and compact profile, the Earth wise tiller cultivator is perfect for new gardens, tilling in narrow rows and raised beds or along fences. It features an 11 inch cutting width converts to 7 inch with ease and a tilling depth of 8 inch for easy cultivating and planting.
Its four steel tines can cultivate packed, hard dirt with ease. Includes an ergonomic handle with cushioned grip and a convenient cord retention hook as well. Flip down wheels for easy transportation.
No gas, no fumes. Earth wise is the clean air choice.
Assembly was easy. Starting the motor is easy. The picture shows the handle at a comfortable angle, but when the tines are doing their work in the ground, I had to hold the handle nearly vertically. This made it harder to pull the tiller.
To do so, I had to hold the sides of the handle while still holding the bar back. It did a great job mixing the mulch into my damp, loamy soil.
Its pretty tough for being small. My 4yr old was able to help assemble it. I’m a beginner and the small section I’ve done was pretty easy to work. My hands were a bit fragile after the bumping and vibrating but it goes away.

Received the de-thatcher just other day and put it all together which was a piece of cake. Seems solidly built considering all the plastic. I have the cultivator too and thought that was kind of sketchy being there was so much plastic, but I have to say.
its a beast!! I’ve used it for several years and love it. I’m guessing I’m going to like the dethatcher just as much, but I’ll write another review this spring after I try it out. I have a large back and front yard on Long Island here in NY, so its going to be put to the test for sure.
The cultivator is incredibly powerful for such a small machine, but small has big advantages I never really even considered when I purchased it, like getting between already established rows. It’s easy to manipulate like some large models probably aren’t as much.
The cord getting in the way is the only PITA, but I knew that it would be before I bought it, but I’ve gotten good at working my way around it. The advantage of it being electric vs battery operated which I’ve tried with other brands in the past is, electric is much more powerful IMO.
I recently purchased a Greenworks cultivator from Lowe’s in anticipation of spring thinking there would be a run on these units. (there was) Worked awesome! That is WHILE it worked. A small thin rock wedged between a tine and the outer housing and it stopped.
The motor still ran but the tines would not turn. The user manual points to a drive train failure. We’d been waiting for a window to open between rains to prepare a raised garden. When that moment comes you need a reliable tool – there’s no time too wait for a manufacturer to replace or repair – or worse to have to pay for a new unit.
I got about 1 eighth done before it failed. Lowes gave me my money back (barely) and of course as expected they were sold out of replacement units. This thing is poorly designed – it should not ruin the drive train when the tines are obstructed – it’s a violent scene under there and should be built commensurately.
Very disappointed and can’t justify investing in a replacement.
Purchased a cultivater almost a year ago. Used it to till my garden last year and started again this year. The motor stopped and I saw a little white smoke coming from the top of the unit through the vents.
Great not even a year old and it’s trash. Called Greenworks explained the problem and they are sending a replacement unit. Didn’t expect it to be that easy. Great customer service. I will recommend Greenworks to everyone I know.

Love it! Has saved me so much labour. I am elderly but got my flower bed worked up and planted in about one tenth of the time it usually takes me. Perhaps the barrel of the column from the tiller to the handle could feel a bit stronger, but once it’s on the soil this doesn’t seem to be a problem, I try to carry it by the handle on the tilling part itself.
For anyone who complains about cleaning the tines out, this is a routine on a farm, with tillers, no way around that, and it’s an asset because then the grass is cleaned out, not all mulched into the soil, to grow back.
It deals with small rocks, if it hits one that too big, it bounces off it, you can then stop and dig it out. It has enabled me to clean up a lot of areas without a lot of digging, like I used to do. It has ample power for the jobs.
This little tiller surprised me! It’s more powerful than I thought it would be. I am disabled and have problems working in my yard, but I needed an area tilled in my yard so I could plant new seed because my dogs destroyed my grass.
This little guy did the job easily and quickly! The only problem is that the cord gets in the way, but I was able to maneuver around that. I have very rocky soil, so I was afraid the tines would break, but they just pulled right through that soil, and pushed the rocks out to the side.
They didn’t even throw the rocks, which was something I was also concerned about. I would recommend this little to anyone who needs help working in their garden. I’m very happy I bought it, and it was well worth the money!!!!.
I’m very pleased with the way that it works and the ease of use. My only real criticism would be that the gear box in the center limits it’s depth to just over an inch unless the soil is very loose. This also leads to it pulling the soil constantly and piling it behind the tiller rather than just tiling the soil in place.
It is however a great little weed mitigating tiller and the purpose for which it was purchased.
Cultivate and aerate even the most compacted beds with the dirty little secret of great gardeners — 48-Volt iON+ Cordless Garden Tiller/Cultivator. The four 7-inch, 8-prong tilling blades quickly cultivate an area up to 14-inches wide and 7-inches deep in seconds — to slice through soil, control weeds, and prep plant beds with ease.
Your neighbors will never know you didn’t hire a pro! SUN JOE provides all the power of a gas machine, with the eco-friendly convenience of cordless technology. Powered by the exclusive 24-Volt iON+ System, the two included 2.
0 Ah lithium-ion batteries provide fume-free runtime. And the dual-port charger quickly powers up two batteries at once — in just 55 minutes! The 500-watt brushless motor runs cooler+ stronger for longer than traditional motors, and starts up instantly with a squeeze of the trigger.
Pulverize dirt at the perfect depth with 3-position height adjustment, to help nutrients and moisture better penetrate roots and soil or winterize your garden for prepped plant beds in spring! So, get growing and Go With Joe.
This tool is a fantastic garden tiller! It did a great job turning up the dirt in my garden! I was so happy with the results that I even decided to enlarge my garden and did an additional 3 feet on the side.
This was a bit more difficult since the dirt was very hard and had never been tilled before, but this tool did the job! The batteries lasted longer then I thought they would and they do recharge in about an hour.
I also tried it on areas of my grass that are patchy where I wanted to plant some grass seed. It again worked great for that project! I will definitely be using it again in the Fall where I need to do more grass seeding.
I found this tool to be very easy to assemble and the instructions were easy to follow. I really like the size of this tool. It is big enough to get the job done, but not too big that it is bulky to maneuver.
It also does not take up too much space in my garage! I love that it is cordless but still it is very powerful. Overall I am extremely satisfied with this tool. I own several Sun Joe products and I find them to be very well made and very functional.
This garden tiller also comes with a nice 2 year warranty! I highly recommend this Sun Joe garden tiller/cultivator!.
Be prepared for shock value if yours “delivered” is missing any part. Or if fasteners come loose during use and disappear into the soil. SunJoe doesn’t have any replacement parts. If something is missing, you send the whole thing back and get a new one.
There’s a nut and 3″ bolt with a spring in-between that secures the back wheels locked into 3 positions of your choosing – 1 for transporting the tiller to and from and 2 settings for while in use. The nut, spring and bolt on mine came loose and disappeared.
I contacted them for replacements but all they could offer was to replace the entire unit since it was still under warrantee. I did some digging in my garage and found junk items that replaced them. I was prepared to go to my local hardware store and spend a couple of bucks too, rather than go thru the trouble of replacing the entire unit.
But my parts situation aside, the tiller works very well and isn’t hard to operate. A 10 year old child could use it. It chewed up hard garden topsoil into very loose dirt, ready for plantings.
I love Sun Joe Products! Spring has sprung and I am using all my Sun Joe machines to get my yard in beautiful shape. This tiller is light, fast and effective at getting my flower gardens and vegetable garden ready for planting season.
The twin battery setup is neat, delivering about 45 minutes of operation between charges. I got a ton done in that time. Sometimes I had to push down and redo a couple spots. The tiller is lighter so it bounced over a few hard packed areas in my yard.
I am so Pleased with the time I saved over the garden claw, cultivator, shovel old method of doing things. I am actually not exhausted after all that work is done!.

When it comes to outdoor power equipment, you put the emphasis on “power. ” And why not? For homeowners like you who take on jobs big or small, you need heavy grade construction and long-lasting peak performance.
The Greenworks Pro 80V family of tools meet the challenge with a universal battery system that works across multiple products, high-efficiency motors, and innovative smart technology.
I bought this two years ago and have put maybe 4 hours on it. First problem was battery that came with it charges, but will only run the tiller for 5 minutes. Shows a full charge but will only run for a few minutes.
Bought a new battery for it and this year pulled it out. ( keep it in the garage out of the weather. ) put in the battery and started it. Terrible noise and then nothing. Disassembled the drive and the roller bearings on the screw shaft were gone and had destroyed the housing, So now I have to replace the drive train.
Definitely not impressed, especially for the money spent.
I started with Greenworks tools 3 years ago when I got my initial mower, with charger and extra battery. Since then I purchased the line trimmer, hedge attachment , backpack blower, snow blower this past winter and now the cultivator.
All use the same batteries, provide plenty of power, unparalleled simplicity, maintenance and efficiency, it doesn’t get any better. I’ve had nothing but a positive experience with Greenworks equipment to date; welcome to the future.
Bought this in preparation for spring garden. Used one time and battery died. Called for replacement but have not received. Does seem to work well when it works. Customer service stinks. Good luck if you have 2 hours to wait on the phone you may talk to someone.
I should have purchased a gas tiller. Very disappointed. At this point garden is planted and this was worthless.

I had a Mantis cultivator/mini tiller years ago, which was a reliable hard-working machine. Bought this newer model based on my experience with the first one, which I never had a problem starting. First, the assembly process was a bit tedious even though I followed the instructions (I am a “by the book” kind of gal).
When I finally got it assembled, I followed the initial start-up instructions exactly and to my disappointment, I could not get it started. I re-read the instructions and tried again the next day with the same results.
On the third day watching the Mantis starting procedure video gave me no new information. I called Mantis, and they were no help except to recommend I take it to a local repair shop for warranty work.
When I finally got my son-in-law over to look at it, he knew right away what the problem was. The location and angle of the oil reservoir are such that you must tilt the entire cultivator forward, rest it on the fuel tank, and start it in that position.
That position allows oil to flow to its proper location for starting. It’s a simple solution but why is that info not provided either in the operating manual, the website, or over the phone. What a major flaw!.
Just a few days after ordering it, the box was on my porch. The tiller came unassembled but that took less than a half-hour. Added the oil and carried it to the garden area. Poured in a little gas, primed it, and it started up on the second pull.
Being so small and light, I was skeptical of what it would be capable of but what sold me was the little Honda 4 cycle engine. On the unbroken ground, the tiller wants to race across the top. Once I got to the far end I let it dig in and pulled it back across the garden.
It dug a nice trench about 8 deep and cut through roots pretty easily. I finished tilling the whole area lengthwise and then widthwise, and then a final pass lengthwise. When finished I walked over the area, and each footstep was sinking ankle-deep into the soil.
The area I tilled was 10 x 15 , and it took me about 15 minutes to complete. I was very impressed! The next morning, we went over to the garden center and picked up some vegetable plants, and the wife picked out a few flowering plants (Azaleas).
By early afternoon the garden was complete, and time to dig the holes for the flowers. Normally, I would use a shovel and limb cutter for the roots Id hit, but I placed the Mantis over the area and let it dig in.
In 2 minutes’ time, I had a perfect hole full of soft soil for her plant. The next hole was as easy as the first. Great job and a real timesaver. I have an area of the front lawn that is in very poor shape because of the extended drought last year.
I plan to use the Mantis to till the area and re-seed it and see what happens. Im sure the little tiller will do its part. Though Ive only used it a few times I am very happy with my purchase. For years Id drive to the rental center, load a tiller onto the trailer, drive home and unload it, wheel it out to the backyard, etc, etc, plus the expense.
It cost $80. 00 for 4 hours of use and you took what they had at the time. Some were very old and had been used hard. You know how that goes. For my little garden and the things I want to do around the yard, this little tiller will be perfect.
With some TLC I think the Mantis will be one of my best investments in a long time. Thank you Mantis and Tillers Direct.

Now introducing a powerful brushless motor series, the DigiPro G-MAX System, you can get all your tasks completed with the only gas comparable lawn tool solution.
This tool is so easy for me to handle and it dug up the dirt area and mixed in my home made compost quite easily. Battery life is satisfactory and I like that it is covered and stays clean. I have had no difficulty removing or installing the battery.
It transports easily too. The written assembly instructions are incorrect on how to assemble the tines but common sense prevailed. I am surprised this hasn’t been corrected. I also received two large pins that have nothing to do with the tool.
This little tiller works well for what it is built for. If you give it time, it will cultivate hard, packed soil. The battery definitely doesn’t last as long in hard soil but it does work if you give it time.
The tiller is light enough that a kid can handle it. For the price, it is much easier to use and has about as much power as a “traditional” small tiller.
I bought this tiller to use at a community garden plot. To start, my plots had lots of weeds and this tiller exceeded my expectations and chewed through the weeds and soil effortlessly. I love that there is no gas mix up and how easy it starts every time on the first try just with the push of a button.
Experience the one tiller that’s truly up to the task! Introducing a greener, cleaner way to get dirty with the Sun Joe TJ604E Electric Tiller Cultivator. A powerful 13. 5-amp motor quickly pulverizes dirt, effortlessly slicing through the soil at 370 RPM, ensuring maximum aeration and perfectly preparing the seedbed for planting.
Cultivate an area 16-inches wide and up to 8-inches deep in seconds. Control weeds where needed – Sun Joe tames the toughest yard and garden tasks with more comfort and less strain. 3-position, height-adjustable rear wheels make it easy to maneuver wherever it’s needed – and its collapsible handle makes it a cinch to store when it’s not.
The Mantis Electric TillerCultivator 3550 delivers quiet digging and cultivating power you’ll appreciate. This small corded tiller is powered by a clean, efficient electric motor. Refresh or renovate existing garden beds or break ground for planting new ones.
Compact size works in any size garden. At 24 lbs. it’s easy to lift into raised beds, too. Includes 3-position wheels and 2-speeds.
After twenty years of the annual exercise in futility of growing nice grass and vegetables, the last straw came when the gas utility ripped up the ribbon sidewalk to install a new line and left rocky-sandy soil.
The soil in the neighborhood had been become so compacted the dogs couldn’t get it to pass a percolation test. A teen with a gas-powered unit could make a fortune this year. We have a big spread here, 1/10 of an acre.
Twice the size of any other ranch around here but not too big to hunt for a machine. Not having much room for storage, I looked for a light, compact but strong machine. This tiller arrived faster than estimated.
The assembly was flawless with a perfect fit and finish. All the holes drilled and punched in the right places. The machine is quiet, looks, and feels well made. I didn’t find any shortcuts in manufacturing that we usually find in lower-priced machinery.
It makes quick work of cutting through the soil and roots below the surface. We have the same great soil the Dutch found here five hundred years ago. I got so excited I went over to a neighbor and started a patch of grass in front of his house.
My problem is everyone wants to borrow the machine, but I will be using it almost every day this season. I told them where to get one of many. Now that I am doing such a good job my wife is urging me, really urging me to buy a pressure washer and a DIY Split System AC unit.
I have to go now. It’s time to plant the vegetables.
Our vegetable space is mostly in 12 large raised beds–4x4x8 feet each–so turning the soil for planting from a waist-high position has been a real job. With the Mantis, the tilling takes just a couple of minutes per bed, not the 25 arduous minutes from before the Mantis.
Genuine pleasure and mixing the new compost into each bed goes much better. Also, this year we decided to create a 200-square-foot ground-level bed for squash plants and vines, so we used the Mantis to break up the soil, which was heavy, dried-out clay, and mix in the gypsum and composted mulch we used to aerate it.
The little guy just chewed through like a champ–we are delighted! With a good base created, we’ve added a good thick layer of composted cow manure, and the squash bed is all set for planting–in just a week (including the days it took to lay the free-stone wall around it)! Our Mantis may not be as powerful as a regular tiller, but it certainly has made working our little garden much, much easier.
Scotts Electric Tiller/Cultivator is 13. 5 Amps and 360 RPMs of power for your yard. With the ability to adjust between four to six durable steel tines, cultivating packed hard dirt just got easier. The steel tines are powerful enough that rocks and small roots won’t be an issue.
The working width of 11 In. to 16 In. , and 8 In. tilling depth is ideal for flower beds, gardens and more. The most efficient way to operate this tiller is to flip up the back wheels and walk the tiller backwards allowing the tines to dig into your soil.
The rear wheels make this tiller easy to transport. Corded electric plug-in and requires no gas or oil, resulting in no mess and no fumes. Includes an ergonomic handle with cushioned grip, convenient cord retention hook and flip down transport wheels.
This is my second year with a garden, last year I rented a gas tiller to get started. This year I decided to buy one. We went to a couple places that did not have the model we were looking for and my other half talked me into trying out this electric model.
It is perfect! You have to watch the cord but it did an exceptional job. Very satasfied with the power and ease of use. I recommend.
This tiller is just wonderful. It turns hard dirt into fine dirt that you can plant in. Only complaint I had was the wheels kept coming loose from the locked position. I’m 67 and my sister is 73. We were both able to use this tiller.
Tillers And Cultivators Transports easily with flip up & down wheels 11″ cutting width / 8″ cutting depth Four strong steel four-blade tines This Tiller Cultivator is a zero emission solution for your garden.
With its durable tines and compact profile, the Tiller Cultivator is perfect for new gardens, tilling in narrow rows and raised beds, or along fences. It features an 11″ cutting width and a tilling depth of 8″ for easy cultivating and planting.
Its four steel tines can cultivate packed, hard dirt with ease. Includes an ergonomic handle with cushioned grip and a convenient cord retention hook as well. Flip down wheels for easy transportation.
The first 30 seconds I used this I got a large rock stuck in between the shield and the tines and thought I broke my new machine in 30 seconds! I tried pulling, pushing and finally used a hammer and banged it out.
The machine started like it never happened. All the good reviews on here are true – powerful yet so easy to use. I’m using it to dig up my yard at my time and leisure and it’s working amazingly well.
Tip for grass/sod removal – short grass of course – leave the wheels down and dig up the top couple inches and let die off then repeat. Then go deeper with the wheels up. I’ve made a 20x almost 50 foot garden this way and can continue to work as/when I’m able or want to and am already looking forward to digging in my leaves at fall.
Get the 14 gauge extension cord if you are working 100 feet from power supply as this is a strong machine. I’ve dug up small rebar, tent stakes, giant old heavy pieces of glass, drawer glides (yes that was in my yard) nails, screws and found many bricks and the machine keeps on going.
As to the reviews that says it bounces – it’s supposed to do that and so will the giant heavy gas ones depending on what the tines hit – just do you part of the job and remove the non dirt items after the machine finds it for you.
I’m very happy with my purchase and with all the work that I’m getting accomplished at my pace and schedule instead of a rental companies. Super smart purchase for anyone with a yard:).
This machine worked exactly as i hoped. It was fairly simple to assemble (1 screwdriver needed). the speed is just right making it easy to control and maneuver. because of it’s light weight, if you needed to sink deeper into the dirt for penetration, all you had to do was hold it in place for a few extra seconds and it would dig itself in.
it had plenty of power and torque to dig itself into the ground, and enough weight so that you didn’t have to force it down, and light enough to carry around to areas of a small yard. the only problem i did note was that while i was tilling near an existing shrub.
the tiller grabbed the root and it wrapped around the blade spindle. i unplugged the machine (safety first) and began to unwind the root. this was tough because there is no way to reverse the blade spindle to unwind the root.
i had to literally cut the root off the spindle. so be careful when using this equipment near existing plants with root systems. it will tangle in the blades and might be a tough removal situation. i would say this is perfect for small gardens and tiller jobs.
The dirty little secret of great gardeners! Put the back-breaking work of tilling tough turf behind you and break some ground with this power-packed 24-Volt Cordless Tiller Cultivator from Sun Joe. Powered by revolutionary iON lithium-ion technology, the 24-Volt 2.
0 Ah battery provides up to 30 minutes of rechargeable runtime! The perfect power weeder, this tiller effortlessly slices away weeds and loosens soil to allow air and moisture to penetrate for healthier roots and plants.
Go where no tiller has gone before with the dual 6-inch tilling blades! 10 durable, steel tilling prongs easily cultivate in tight or cramped quarters even in between plants for maximum maneuverability and performance.
Lightweight at just 6 lbs. , the tiller features a telescopic pole which extends up to 37 inches and an adjustable auxiliary handle, to take the pain and strain out of yard chores! So, keep your yard looking its best, with less stress.
This is a really nifty lightweight tiller. Just what I need for putting in flowers. It would not do for heavy-duty tilling, like maybe for a vegetable garden. It tills a shallow track with a ridge sticking up, but that was easy to fix by tilling a row once and then moving the tiller over either direction about an inch and running it again.
It doesn’t go very deep, but then again, I didn’t need it to. I found the battery to have plenty of life to do a big project.
I was skeptical about this cordless tiller when I bought it. But I thought anything that could make turning soil and tearing up sod in my garden and yard was worth a try. This little tiller is fantastic.
Powerful, easy to use, good battery run time. It was HUGELY helpful when I needed to transplant shrubs in my yard. I broke up the packed soil in no time, which made shoveling holes for the plants incredibly easy.
And I’m sure the light, fluffy soil I packed around the shrubs is giving their roots a much better start. Great job, SunJoe. I look forward to trying your other yard and garden tools, especially since the cordless battery is interchangeable.
The 58-Volt Cordless Tiller/Cultivator is the first battery-powered tiller worthy to be called a Mantis. Starts instantly, runs quietly, with all the power you’ll need to dig up existing garden beds or break ground for planting new ones.
Runs up to 30-minutes on a full charge. Weighs only 26 lbs. Easy to lift into raised beds.
We have used a full-sized Troy-Bilt tiller for decades, and it just became too much to fight with as we age. We bought the Mantis tiller and we are absolutely thrilled with the outcome! It achieved the same results as the big tiller but without the struggle of the big unit.
It’s powerful, quiet and easily maneuvered. I highly recommend this unit. The battery lasts a long time, but we did have to stop and recharge before we were done. My one complaint is that a second battery is cost-prohibitive.
Having one on the charger and one working would have been perfect. The price needs to be lowered on batteries.
Earthwise TC70001 Tiller Cultivator is the clean air choice. Zero emission tool, durable tines and compact profile, the Earthwise Tiller is perfect for new gardens, tilling in narrow rows and raised beds or along fences.
11 in. cutting wide and a tilling depth of 8. 5 in. with 4 steel tines. No gas, no fumes. Earthwise is the Clean Air Choice.
I bought this based on positive reviews. I just didn’t want to have to dig my garden by hand anymore. The assembly instructions are minimal and strangely organized, but with a little help from just looking at the picture on the box, it came together easily.
It started up easily and, in 10 minutes, neatly tilled an area of my garden that would have taken me well over an hour to dig, and did it better. I briefly tried it on some unbroken ground, but it bounced around and was very difficult to control.
I’m sure it can be done, but a larger rototiller would be the choice there. It requires some arm strength to pull it back towards you, but that is not a problem for me. I am very satisfied with my first use of it.
I hope it holds up well. There are a number of plastic parts, so durability may be an issue. That remains to be seen.
As I’m getting up in years and getting tired of using a push-plow and a spade to turn over a small garden, I gotta tell ya, this was the best thing since pockets on a shirt. I went online intending to get a small gas powered tiller.
But after seeing “electric” tillers, I remembered how much fun gas weedeaters were after they had sat all winter. Seems the new motors are pretty much disposable. After reading other’s reviews, I finally decided on this one and was greatly impressed! Starts every time and no pulling a rope, no adding gas, and doesn’t weigh much.
I’ve used it several times, just showing it off to friends that had never heard of such a thing. (Kinda the same as I had never) I hope they keep this model around, as I have been bragging about it to others.
