Wisdom panel results came one week after she passed. I was terrified that they were going to tell me there was a problem with her results but thankfully everything worked out and Wisdom panel helped me understand that my Jessie after over 13 years and still super active and without any major or even minor problems had already lived 3 years longer than any of her genetics said she should have.

After having physical deformities and stunted growth from a negligent breeder whom lied to everyone he ever spoke with and having to be a protector of several young children while their mother was beaten and abused my Jessie was to be put down due to the womens shelter not allowing pets.

Luckily this women stood up to them and found her kids protector another place to go. I had slightly over 10 years with Jessie because of that. 10 years where she didn’t have to put up with hitting. Or abuse, just my brother who would tease Jessie by saying ow and whining and she wouldn’t let anyone near him when he did that.

Just so he could take her to the beach alone and it was just them. She loved chasing the seagulls away, but HATED the water. Always that was funny since she looked like a pure Labrador. Turns out that was pretty low down the list.

Instead she had pretty much every breed of protective big dog in her but with the demeanor and intelligence of a lab. A perfect combination and a very friendly family member. Only dog I’ve ever been lucky enough to have in my life that never needed to worry about running off or require a leash even in crowded areas.

Never had to worry about her chasing neighbors cats or chickens or anything. She would protect the house, land and always had a soft spot for kids. She is greatly missed and loved. Thank you wisdom panel for helping me learn more about her and for allowing me to learn why and where her traits came from.

Looks alone never would have explained her but after seeing the results it just all fit.

This was a Christmas gift to my family: we’ve long been curious about the breeds other than Anatolian Shepherd that account for Zane’s idiosyncrasies. The results were more than a little surprising: despite an unmistakably Anatolian look, Wisdom Panel indicated that the breed accounts for 2% of his DNA.

He is also, apparently, equal parts Chihuahua. I’ve come to understand that Chihuahua is frequently found in DNA tests, so that’s not the surprise. That the breed he most clearly resembles physically and behaviorally is also only 2% was the shocker.

So what did the panel reveal? 30% bulldog. We don’t see it. What *does* make sense is the 27% bloodhound: that would explain his droopy eyes and jowels — which was really the mystery we were out to solve.

(We thought that combined with his habit of climbing on and “claiming” people when they’re lying down might have been a St. Bernard thing. ) I won’t go into the rest of the breeds, but other characteristics that didn’t match at all were that the results suggested Zane was more likely to have a mask, pricked ears, and a dark coat than not.

I understand probability, but so much that the panel claimed is “likely” is just not so that my confidence in the results is quite low. I will say that the process and site navigation were a breeze, and if I were evaluating just those elements of our experience, this would be a 5-star review.

Unfortunately, I’m disappointed overall. My Anatolian-Chihuahua mix will be here to comfort me and raise my spirits, however, so all is not lost.

I bought two of these tests for my two dogs. One I had not DNA tested at all, and one I did as a puppy several years back. When we did his DNA test as a puppy, it said that he was not a purebred boxer, which is what we figured based off of looks and vets’ opinions, but it couldn’t completely say what he was mixed with- hence this wisdom panel test.

I swabbed the dogs and sent them in. A couple of weeks later, my female’s results came in and they matched her perfectly down to every detail. She very likely is a purebred boxer simply based on looks and some health issues she has, and the results said purebred boxer.

I waited some more and finally a week later, my male’s results came in. They identically matched my females. Every thing was exactly the same. The problem is he doesn’t look any thing like her. They said he has “2 fawn genes” for coloring.

He’s black. It said that just like my female that he should be low-shedding with short, wiry hair except he sheds a ton and has fur like a lab and not a boxer. It also says that he is a purebred boxer, which cannot be possible.

He doesn’t even look purebred. I have tried emailing with a member of the support team and they keep insisting that these results are correct. They have refused to consider that maybe the results were run incorrectly and to possibly send me a new swab to test him again.

If the results they sent me are correct, then EVERY dog out there that is “mostly” boxer will come up as purebred with the exact same results. I’m really frustrated that I wasted my money on this right now to be given grossly inaccurate results.

interesting when it updates. it changes all the time. your ethnicity changes when they learn something new. one minute your spanish the next minute you are japanese. in my case i know my backround so the results is questionable.

my grandmother from the Philippines with her picture holding my father and i know he is my father because my first cousin, is my first cousin. my father had me in korea and brouggt me and moms from korea.

but doesnt show i am Filipina but shows my cousins are. the only reason i support this ancestry is because i know 2 people found their new sibling and never knew they were related. i also found a cousin and her mom and i used to work together.

she is my fathers first cousin. so they need to work out kinks in their system.

I did a DNA and trait test during the pandemic and so happy I did. The results were so cool to see and know exactly what my lineage is. The results and information is very informative. I had built a family tree a few years prior but then having the test done and seeing more of my tree grow, was very cool.

I know some people are afraid to have your results shared with the world and I get that. But they have an option to opt out of sharing any information at all.

Yay after weeks of calling asking for ability to review …. Where do I start … well I went 4 for 4. Most upsetting is I called before I ordered the test asking if I was 99% certain that one of my dogs is purebred if I was better off getting the Purebreed test or the normal test.

I was assured that the pure breed test was the better choice due to some of the breed specific health testing included in it. Well she wasn’t a pure breed and all I got back was the fact that she wasn’t a pure breed and then I should buy the other test, “You can just pay the 149 and will release the other information to you“.

One of my other boys has been verified as an LAD carrier multiple times yet it didn’t turn up. The other one showed up as a carrier for another breed specific issue that since has been retested twice independently and has been shown to be incorrect.

I submitted this data to embark and all I was told was, this is a novelty service and isn’t guaranteed accurate. Last one showed up as 100% verified as a different breed that isn’t even close to the breed he is registered as in the AKC Bull a terrier Vs GSD.

They have been really good with this one admitting it may have been a Lab error and have sent me a new swab to restart the process. Still awaiting results. All in all I feel like I wasted a lot of money and an enormous amount of time dealing with this company, The sheer fact that I had to wait almost 2 months to even if you have the ability to leave a review upset me.

I had bought dna tests before through Embark and was pleased. The purebred dna test did not include All of the information that the other mixed breed test did. I was interested in seeing the family tree.

I was very disappointed. I reached out to see about getting the additional information and I was told that it was not possible and I would need to by a new test to get the additional information and the information that I already had.

The mixed breed test gives you so much more information. My recommendation would be for people to get the mixed breed test no matter what kind of dog they think they have.

Embark is wonderful! There’s a saying in nutrition that goes: “DNA loads the gun; diet and lifestyle pull the trigger” Knowing what genetic propensities my dogs have, allows me to modify diet and lifestyle accordingly to keep those genes suppressed as long as possible.

As a breeder, I find their dedicated website invaluable and appreciate the trait-related links they provide to learn more as well. Every responsible breeder should use genetic testing (for health more than appearance); Embark elevates the knowledge gleaned from testing.

We (unintentionally) inherited a stray dog, chasing cars down the street and were unable to locate owners. The pup was in poor health (obvious neglect and lack of medical care) and we decided the original owner was not deserving of this sweet boy and nor did he deserve to be placed in a shelter with no hope of survival.

We decided to keep him, but he had behaviors that we had never encountered with any of our previous pets. Nocturnal wakefulness, growling when pouncing on a toy, easily distracted by barely perceptible noises, etc.

We thought (from appearances) he was mostly Labrador with a little hound or Heeler mix. Turns out, he is Great Pyrenees, Austrailian Shepard, Border Collie, Anatolian Shepard and a few others. Between the Livestock Guard Dog and Herding breeds, his behaviors made complete sense and now we have a game plan with a trainer on how to work on instinctual habits that are currently problematic.

Having the DNA profile has helped us to understand him and still allow him to complete some tasks that he feels compelled to do and curtail the problematic ones. So glad we listened to the reviews that said Wisdom Panel was the best at determining mix and unknown breed DNA.

I have used Wisdom DNA for my other dog a few years ago and found that she was mostly Great Pyrenees! This made sense because she loved to be outside at night – turns out that they are nocturnal dogs.

She looks like a Black lab and has that plus Boxer in her. She’s special, what can I say. This time of got a new rescue puppy and was told that she was lab and greyhound. I could not for the life of me see that – got the test – she is Aussie cattle dog, Lab and Hound breeds.

She looks mostly like a cattle dog. BUT, I am really taking the time to write this because for some reason I did not see the instructions to log into my existing account and log the test ID before mailing it in.

I just mailed it. Oops. I called the customer service number (I know who has one of those?) and got a really nice woman who helped me find my lost DNA test kit. I imagined her manually sorting through all the lost and found boxes that people like me sent in without logging the ID online – looking for my old school handwritten name on the box! She helped me create a new ID and fixed it so I was able to get my results.

I was thInking I would have to buy another test kit! First of all, hats off to the accurate DNA – knowing what breed (s) your dog is can help understand behaviors you see better. Secondly, hats off for having a phone number and a helpful professional available without a confusing phone tree and being transferred 5 times.

When I first got my ethnicity report in 2018, I was pretty pleased. Even though they didn’t include some of the ethnicity groups I had (such as Native American), they did have a lot of other groups included.

However, the last few updates kept taking away those ethnicity groups, as the company dropped smaller cM segments in their ethnicity calculations. My latest report was horrible and most of my other ethnicity turned into British, which shocked me! How does Spanish turn into British and Irish? I didn’t think that was possible, because it’s not.

It just proves they are dropping cM below a certain amount (probably 7) and excluding the smaller ethnicity that is truly there, but not what they want to report. I believe this is being done to please customers who complain because they want to be 100% of a certain ethnicity and nothing else.

They would rather know the exact location of where their (British) great grandmother was born on a map than they do of where their (South Asian) 7th great grandmother. Personally, I want to know about the 7th great grandparent or even farther back than that.

Also, this dropping of smaller cM information helps save money on database space for the company. And it saves on calculation input. They won’t have to waste as much time in-putting all that extra data into their formulas.

Which means too much credit will be given to the ethnicity you got from your great grandparents and nothing for anything before that period. In another update or two, I figure my African will be gone in my report and I will be 100% British, or at least 90%.

This will be the same for any dominant/higher cM of ethnicity anyone else has also. This is going to only tell half of half of the real story of our ancestry. This is really sad. But at least we know how much Neanderthal we have, right?.

Always thought there was something and possibly scandalous about my mother’s adoption. Adoptive WWII grandparents always used to respond to questions about her origins by emphasizing that “it doesn’t matter, we’re all Americans and that’s the important thing.

” That was weird, and so was the fact my mom seemed trained to be defensively disinterested. Crazy to imagine, if the Chinese Exclusion act never occurred, my family composition might be much different.

Equally crazy is finding one source that makes my DNA less than 100% European in comparison with relatives in the UK or even my 1st cousin. During the current racial divisions, I am delighted to find family history that diverts from the narrative I’ve been spoon fed.

My grandparents often made disparaging remarks about Asians, and this information puts that In a brand new context. I knew my dad and grandparents, but did not have a good relationship with them, and was not privy to a lot of information that at this point is available via Google.

I bought this to test a kitten I had found because I thought it would be neat to know if he had any interesting breeds and traits. I also wanted to know about the health genes they tested for, especially the kidney disease since I had a cat that passed away from kidney disease.

Whether it was a hereditary thing or something that just developed, I’ll never know as this type of testing simply didn’t exist back then. But with the new kitten, I wanted a heads up for any potential issues so that I could work with my vet on that.

Luckily, the kitten is all clear for the things that could be currently tested for. I learned he had two copies of a long hair gene, meaning he was likely to have long hair. And at this point it’s definitely looking that way.

His ancestry was quite a surprise too. I figured he’d have mostly domestic cat, especially since I found him in the woods. But he’s also got a few large breeds in him too. I was surprised to see Maine Coon.

Although it’s only 13%, perhaps that explains his floofy, raccoon-looking tail! And this kitten seems to have short legs. Maybe it’s because he’s not grown up yet, but maybe because he’s also got 1% Munchkin.

It was also great to learn his blood type and I know this info will be important to share with his veterinarian. The only thing I wished they could test and give some trait background is for eyes, especially eye color.

I hope the technology is in making because I would love to know about the eyes, especially since I’ve just sent off another test from my other cat that has the most beautiful turquoise eyes. I can’t help but wonder where they came from and hopefully in the future Wisdom Panel could be able to have the answers to that.

This started as just plain curiosity and developed into so much more. I work in the pet industry, and have been witnessing the increasing longevity of pets lifespans. Having reviewed test results from other vendors, I was completely blown away by the extensive, in depth results we received for our cat.

Every piece of information telescopes into detailed origins and explanations. You can absorb just the percentage of your pets breed DNA representation, or you can follow an entire prospective lineage tree of where those breeds derived.

There are also very detailed descriptions of any genetic predispositions. I was thrilled with the level of competency, but then was completely blown away when I received an email that I could have a brief conversation with a Wisdom Panel vet about a genetic predisposition my pet showed.

Test is hard to find at the store. It’s not in the “Family Planning” section. Where else should it be? Instructions are minimal yet there were still errors. It seems to think the swabs come in 2-packs.

They come in 1-packs. An unintelligent person will probably not provide all the samples that they’re supposed to because they read the instructions literally. Furthermore, it doesn’t mention anything about the mother’s sample in the instructions or packaging anywhere that I can see.

This compounds one’s misunderstanding of the other erroneous aspects of the instructions. Trust me, I read all the literature they have before starting any of this. The only thing they really want to document is that if you want this for a court case, you need to pay for the third party collection.

They say that EVERYWHERE. I must have read it in 100 different places, but they never even come out and say “This kit has 3 samples. One for the mother, one for the alleged father, one for the child.

Use 4 swabs each. ” That’s all the instructions I needed. Is that so hard? Once I sent it in, I waited for the results. I did everything right but the results web page won’t let you sign in until you get the “results” email.

So if you have provided the wrong email or it was not delivered due to failure or spam filters, you will never know what went wrong. I finally got an email saying my results are ready, but it doesn’t have the “number” that they want me to log in with.

If you click around and look VERY hard, you will find that you can also log in with your email address. However, the login didn’t work. I called customer service and pushed 100 buttons to navigate the voice menu just to be told that the email system and the lab results system, which you can’t log into one without the other and you can’t receive the first without the second are completely out of synch with each other and it takes an extra day to get a login set up in the lab results page even after you get the email saying it’s available.

Is this how they run the whole operation? With such poor attention to detail and such unreliable systems in place to deal with the simple part (email and web login technologies are not rocket science), can I really trust the labs to do the sophisticated stuff without screwing it up? I half expected the results to come back and say I was actually a cat.

And yes, there are also hidden fees. Yay. They don’t mention them until you’re paying for the lab fee. I did get the results email on the promised day and I did receive an email about it. I had to wait until the next day to actually log in and see the results but I did actually get the results.

The “Same Day Results” on the box is misleading and should be illegal. It is NOT the same day results. You get the results on the day the lab finishes the results. You do NOT get the results the day you take the samples.

You can’t just drop them off at a local lab and the analysis is not done in your home. You have to mail them in and wait your turn. Let this be clear – this test takes a week to get results. BTW, how are they charging $30 for this kit? It’s literally a 1-page paper of bad instructions, 3 envelopes and 12 sterile cotton swabs.

It’s like 8 cents worth of material.

I love the convenience of the test and how easy it was to do. If anything could change though it would be the pricing. $40 for the test and then another $154 for the lab results. Maybe do a price that combines the purchasing and lab results and lower it just a little.

Maybe $125 combine total somehow when purchasing you pay that fee and go online to register and give the receipt info to show it was paid in full to get lab results. This test was done for my son to see if the child we are raising was his and $200 was not money he had so I had to help pay.

But we found out the child we are raising is not his child but we still love her and we’re still going to raise her like she’s ours. Blood ain’t always family. Anyway maybe change the pricing other than that the test was great and the quickness of getting the results was great too.

100% accurate and came back SUPER FAST! (I did pay for it to come back super fast though lol). Not sure why there’s all the bad reviews, if you read the instructions and understand that it’s not court submissible, the only reason or thing I can think of why there would be so many bad reviews, is women/men weren’t getting the results THEY WERE HOPING FOR! “YOU ARE NOT THE FATHER”! But seriously, the that’s GOT to be the ONLY reason because it was ACCURATE and I got results back FAST! But I also wasn’t doing it because I had 2 options, I wanted my ONE option to know without a doubt in case there HAD been any doubt in HIS mind.

He’s a lot older than me, so I wanted him to know before he left this Earth, WITHOUT A DOUBT that HE was the father!.

I was 6w4d when I took the test, and our results were confirmed at 21 weeks! This test was a godsend because we knew we couldn’t wait any longer to know baby’s gender! My advice to anyone about to take the test at home is to take the warning labels and directions seriously because contamination is extremely easy to fall victim to! NO MALES around the kit or in the room while collecting and packing your sample (I even ran the males dogs out of the room, and you can show your partner the crazy Snap contraption AFTER you safely pack your sample), disinfect the surface/table you will be using, wash both hands and arms thoroughly and let air dry, and for the love of all that is holy- DO NOT touch that nasty cellphone! The Snap is a bit awkward to use if you are collecting your sample alone, but don’t panic, just take your time- it took me trying several different grips before I got it to click.

All-in-all, we were so very pleased with the entire process and can’t wait to meet our baby GIRL in a few months!.

Unplanned pregnancy… I really wasn’t thrilled about it as I was taking preventative measures and my two girls are 7 & 9 so I honestly was done raising small children. But the thought that maybe it could be my only boy made me feel better, I came across sneak peak and decided to try.

At 8 weeks I got an email saying it’s a boy! I knew there was a risk of a false result due to male contamination but I followed directions exactly so figured more than likely it was accurate. My 12 week appointment confirmed it was a boy! Pregnancy can be hard on your emotions, and not being happy about it can feel absolutely horrible! Sneak peek made it a lot better.

I know it shouldn’t matter but it did! I needed the early gender test to make it more real, to help with the feelings I had because it helped me get excited. I am glad this was available for me.

I recommend and I’ve used with accurate results for two children now. We didn’t use it on our second child, because we opted for ultrasound at 14 weeks. First result over three years ago was girl, second time we used boy, confirmed 3x boy by ultrasound.

23 weeks now. My only complaint is that you do have to be fully prepared if you have boys/men/even male pets in your home. I throughly bleach whatever surface I’m using as well as place my phone in a ziplock bag that I dip in bleach to watch the tutorial video and stay on guide.

(It needs updated as some things have changed namely swab is not for wiping blood on your finger, but stays in the bag with your sample. ) Essentially you need to be VERY CAREFUL and not just wash your hands and call it good.

Like bleach everything you plan to touch including your sink before you wash your hands. AIR DRY YOUR HANDS. If you don’t you just wiped DNA all over your hands again. Shut the door. Like I can’t emphasize be careful enough with the DNA getting contaminated.

I really like the clinical option, it’s brilliant, but they need to mandate that the tech be a woman. As I’ve heard women getting male techs taking their blood sample and that defeats the point. Also it’s not widely available, 5 hour drive to be available to me.

I understand it’s just starting but perhaps work on getting investors behind your idea to help widen your areas. Only other complaint is it is MESSY. You will likely have a bloody scene in your bathroom after.

Get your hands warm first if you have a slow flow before putting on the rubber band. Don’t poke by your finger nails. You could contaminate your results, again careful, scrub them at least 20 seconds under the tips with antibacterial soap.

If you are truly careful the issue is not on smeakpeak, it’s in my case always been a user error aside from perhaps the rare mislabeling of another’s results which I have not heard of. If you have boys or lots of testosterone in your home, consider going to someone’s home (single friend) or whatnot who can help you by performing the same precautions on themselves and surfaces there.

It would be helpful to have some help with the blood part. But again, they need to bleach things and scrub just as good as you did. May seem repetitive, but hope this helps someone make sure they get the accurate results they want.

I have purchased 4 Sneak Peek gender test and 3 of those were accurate in determining the gender of all 3 of my grandsons. Test #4 I just purchased with ease and complete confidence is being used and returned to lab today for Grandbaby #4.

We’re all very excited for the results in a few days which as promised by sneak peek have always been an accurate time frame for results!! All 3, soon to be 4 gender results were accurate and gender reveal parties successfully planned and held using the Sneak Peek test results.

I had previously gotten a test done for another dog and loved it. It seemed accurate and the results came in quickly. This time I used it on my other dog right before passing away. The results came in quick like it did previously however the breeds given were random “noise” as they call it.

Only one breed came out with more than 7% which if you aren’t aware anything under 7% is likely just noise and does not actually represent what your dog is. This often happens when they don’t have a certain breed in their system which unfortunately happened to us.

They do have the relatives feature available however there is currently no way to reach out to them and a lot of people don’t upload pictures possibly because they did the test before the feature was added or at the time didn’t have relatives.

It’s nice to know he has a relative close by but and we would love to be able to contact this person to find out more about our boy but that isn’t an option. I also heard that they are starting to send out emails to people that end up getting a relative after previously testing however that’s all banking on if they check their emails regularly and also a lot of people haven’t even been notified prior to this release so they may never check.

I was overall just extremely disappointed and wish I would’ve gone with embark instead but it is too late now for him to have that done. The interface is nice and easy to understand which I like but between the not being able to contact relatives and the lack of breeds in there data base I think after I use my other test I bought I will switch to embark for more accuracy until they add those features.

I would give a zero if possible. My wife and I adopted our dog in July of last year from a Humane Society shelter near our area. We didn’t care what his breed might be, admittedly we were curious, but mostly we wanted to know just in case there were breed related health issues we should be aware of.

The shelter’s veterinarian and director had similar thoughts on the likelihood of his breed, as did our family and friends. Everyone pretty much had the same idea of what they believe his breed is. After some research, we decided to purchase the Embark Breed + Health Kit, especially since he certainly appears to be a mixed breed.

The process was simple enough and the updated emails during the process were nice. That said, once we received the breed results, we were extremely disappointed, and still are. We are not disappointed in the sense that we were hoping he was a particular breed, because as I mentioned above, we really didn’t care, but we are disappointed because the results are so far off from what he looks like.

Everyone who has seen him has said that he looks like one of two particular breeds or actually says both of the same two breeds, this also includes the Director and veterinarian at the shelter we adopted him from.

Of the SIX different breeds that Embark Vet says he is, NONE of those six breeds are the two that everyone guesses he is. None of the six breeds that Embark Vet say he is look even remotely like him.

Add in the additional three “Supermutt” breeds that also are nowhere near what he looks like, and It’s almost as if Embark Vet just threw out NINE breeds to see what would “stick. ” Two of our friends and one of our family members were very anxious to see our dog’s breed results because they all have been wanting to get their dogs a DNA test, After seeing the results, though, they are all giving a hard pass because of just how way off the results are.

Due to the DNA results for our dog, the shelter said they will no longer recommend Embark Vet. We feel we have been duped by the service and product of Embark Vet and that this was a complete waste of our money for a product and service that does not live up to what is promised.

We were looking to adopt an adult dog after our beloved Silky Terrier passed away in August. I entered a search request to be notified of adult Silky Terriers available for adoption within 500 miles of my home.

After a couple of months, I received a notification for a 6 year old “Silky Wheaten Terrier Mix”, whose owner needed to re-home because of her personal health issues. She provided pictures, videos and a lengthy description of the type of home she wished to find for him.

I studied up on Wheaten Terriers and decided a Silky/Wheaten Mix would be a good match for us. We drove to Austin, to meet in person. We fell in love with Shaggy and his current DogMom decided that we measured up and she was comfortable entrusting Shaggy to our care.

Shaggy was everything she described except that he shed more than we expected from a Silky/Wheaten Mix and was calmer and less scrappy than the Terriers I have known so I decided to do the Embark DNA test to find out what else was in his mix.

His results showed that he does not have even a smidgen of Terrier in him! ( Not the previous DogMom’s fault. She was just repeating what she had been told when she rescued him four years earlier. ) He is 50% Poodle, which accounts for his intelligence and speed; 10% Chow Chow, verified by the purple polka dot on the tip of his tongue; 8.

6% Cocker Spaniel; 8. 4% German Shepard, & 23% Supermutt. Included in his Supermutt heritage breeds were Maltese, Collie, Australian Shepard, and Australian Cattle dog. After studying up on poodles and the other breeds in his mix, his behaviors made more sense.

Since Wheatens are known for jumping and giving a “Wheaten Greetin’”, he had been allowed to jump enthusiastically whenever he got the least bit excited. Once we realized that the jumping had been learned and humored, rather than an instinctual part of his make-up, we were firmer with him discouraging him from jumping.

He is still a work in progress, but a lot better. He might jump when I come in the door or when we are about to go for a walk, but no longer so high and forcefully that he might knock me down. He is a smart, healthy, affectionate, beautiful dog, who has stolen 100% of our family’s hearts.

Knowing his breed make-up helps us understand the idiosyncrasies associated with his genetic make-up. We shared all of his results with his vet to allow us to provide the appropriate care, and be better Dog Parents.

Gave us great peace of mind to know that he does not have a lot of problematic genetic variants. Looking forward to sharing many years of love, companionship, and adventure together!.

I rescued a mixed-breed terrier/shepherd blend (nothing more specific than that). Initially I wasn’t going to do the DNA testing (it didn’t really matter to me what the dog’s background was) but then curiosity got the best of me and I performed the Dog DNA Test.

The results were a little surprising, but as I did a little more research, they made sense. My dog’s DNA came back 40% American Bully, 30% Pit Bull, and 30% German Shepherd (rounded percentages), so consistent with how she had been described by the shelter.

My dog’s habitus is more like a classic American Staffordshire (an American Bully can have both “staffy” and pit bull lineage), her eyes are definitely “pitty”, and she has the muzzle and coat and ears of a German Shepherd, but is too small to be a German Shepherd.

It was also good to learn that she had very little inbreeding and no dog heritable disease genes were identified. I’m about to rescue another dog where the background is no more specific than “mixed breed”, and will be doing this testing on him.

I’ve seen some of the negative reviews where the results were not as expected and therefore questioned. I would just say that, if you’re going to test a mixed breed, you’re not testing a purebred, and there is a difference between genotype (what the genes are) and phenotype (how those genes are physically expressed), which explains why three children from the same parents can all look very different.

The genetics notwithstanding, my dog is 100% beautiful and 100% sweetheart! Overall, I considered the testing worth the investment.

Really liked seeing the traits, as far as I can tell, they have been accurate. I would really like to see an explanation of of how they came up with the results though. Both the father and I are dark haired and dark eyed, and our boy is going to have light blonde hair and green/blue eyes.

Great DNA TEST I would recommend to anyone

Details of the testing experience: You need to swab mother, father, and child 4 (four) times, make sure baby is in calm environment. When you mail in the results, I would recommend using another form of postage BESIDES the postage that is provided because it will take 1-2 weeks to get to them After they get the samples, it will take almost another 2 days to get the results.

because they are testing your samples and studying them. Have patience. You are in a stressful time period, be sure to practice self cares, and live stress free. Customer service did not pick up, I have read from others about long hold times.

The3 person who set up the *account* will get the fastest results. MAKE SURE THE OTHER PARTY GETS A PAPER COPY OR THEY WONT HAVE THEIR OWN COPY. A PAPER COPY ONLY COST AN $EXTRA $15. THE OTHER PARENT WILL NOT GET EMAILS ONLY YOU.

Of course this is a test that no one really wants to have to buy but this ended up being a quick way to determine paternity. We were looking at paying up tp $525 to do it thru the court system and this test was more affordable to see if we needed to go to that next step.

It also gave us peace of mind. The test itself was easy to use (with the swabs) and the results came in a reasonable time frame, so waiting wasnt too painful. Lab results were easy to read and very thorough plus there was an option to use this test for the courts to establish for court approval.

Overall, this was an easy process & adequately priced.
