A previously owned stray neutered cat was running around our neighborhood for about 4 months. He was afraid of people but we put food out for him and started to feed him in our garage to get him out of the weather.

One day he finally decided to adopt us and become very friendly. He is a medium length haired cat who had hair mats from his shoulders down. You could not pet him except where the mats were not. I saw the Furminator on chewy along with other hair brushes.

I looked up all kinds brushes and combs on the internet and read reviews. I watched videos on how to use them etc. The furninator seemed to be the only one that would cut the mats out safely. I purchased it through Chewy as they had the best price.

I followed the directions of doing a little at a time and in three days all the mats were out. Now I can comb through his fur with no problems. When I go to the vets and I am going to show the Furminator to him as I want to spread the word that there is an easy way to keep your animal’s fur in good condition especially if the fur tends to mat.

I have a very skittish kitty that has very long hair. I have been trying to find ways to remove her mats for years. I finally found what works for her. I gave her rescue remedy, sprayed her coat with stazco conditioning spray, and this dematting tool.

I was FINALLY able to demat her today. The dematter was easy to use and was very gentle on her. There was a few times in snugged on her fur, so I had to learn to be gentle and take my time. This will help her sooo much in not having as many fur balls!.

This Furmanator tool, like all their products, is amazing! I have a long haired cat with a huge fluffy tail and while he grooms himself very well, this baby takes care of the rest. I can’t recall the cost but it’s about mid range but the quality is great.

It has two length settings, I use the widest one, for general maintenance. It flies through any slight matting and anything else my cat has gotten stuck in his fur. My biggest take away is work quickly but gently and you’ll get the best results.

We’re experienced pet owners but new to the Labradoodle breed (needed a hypoallergenic dog) and didn’t understand the multiple layers of fur. This helps keep them fluffy, removes all the grass and gets the base hair out.

I wish I’d understood the importance of this tool earlier! It’s a must for a doodle parent. Start using after a groom when the hair is shorter, it makes it painless. We alternate between this and a slicker brush every other day.

My girl cat doesn’t groom at all. We have spent years having her shaved to prevent matting. This comb. amazing! It looks like it won’t work but it did. I’m doing a little at a time but she doesn’t seem to be uncomfortable.

She tolerates it for 10 or so minutes at a time. The blades aren’t sharp enough to cut her skin but they definitely work through the mats so that she doesn’t have bald spots everywhere. Soooo happy to have found this!.

I currently own two rough collies. Several times a year they blow their undercoat. I had previously used the original type FURminator with my huskies, and it was a god-send. But it did not work for the long, thick fur my collies have.

Chelsea is a long haired GSD, and grooming her has been challenging. She’s a rescue, so one challenge is that she didn’t learn to enjoy being groomed when she was young. Another is that she sheds continually, not just seasonally, so deep grooming in an ongoing process.

The rake will be a good addition to the brush box for her, but to get the most use from the rake her coat needs to be free of tangles, mats, and foreign matter. So grooming is still a big job, but I am very hopeful that the Furminator rake will be very useful in keeping her coat beautiful.

I wanted this tool to use on my very large domestic cat (small dog size) who has an unbelievable amount of undercoat. He generally does not get matted, however, he does leave a thick layer of hair in just a day or two when lying on the carpet.

And it never stops! The comb works like a charm, and removes a lot of hair with just a few strokes. He didn’t mind the tool being used on him, however, I’m sure if the coat is extremely matted it might be bothersome and a person would have to be very gentle.

As the owner of two cockers, I am looking forward to avoiding mats this winter. Seeing how well this brush works with their shorter summer coats, I have no doubt that this will be even more helpful when I let their full coats come in thicker this winter.

Every spring, I battle mats when I go to clip off their thicker coats, and hopefully we will have far less to deal with given how well it works now.

One of my cat has very thick, medium length fur with a dense undercoat. She is a bit neurotic and overgrooms a lot when stressed. Recently after a vet visit she started grooming so much she was having several large hairballs a week – we tried hairball remedy, giving her high fiber treats, brushing her more, but nothing helped.

I ordered this brush after reading reviews, and wow, it is magical. The amount of fur I am able to get off her in just 5 minutes of brushing (she won’t allow more) is just astounding. I brushed her 4-5 minutes a day with this brush for a week, then noticed I wasn’t getting as much fur off, so spaced it out to 2-3 days a week, and she hasn’t had a SINGLE hairball in the 5 weeks since I started using this brush.

Really saved us. One drawback is that it doesn’t seem to work as well on short-haired cats or our other long-haired cat that has a flatter, lankier coat. Definitely works best on thick, dense fur.

I think any bad reviews on here are from people who didn’t read the instructions. Use short strokes with it, not long ones or it may pull. With short strokes, this is an absolute WONDER comb! I have 2 long-haired cats, both with much pain, one from Pancreatitis and the other is in kidney failure (I have 6 rescue cats, 5 with special needs because I like them the best), and I had SUCH a hard time combing them, even with the big end of a Greyhound comb and they fought me every time even though I tried to be as gentle as possible.

This comb, they don’t even fight me. I take my time, do the short strokes with it as directed, and they actually seem to like it. I can see that if you took longer strokes it would get stuck sometimes, but the directions say to avoid longer strokes for this very reason.

Just use small strokes and this will be your favorite comb! <3 It's mine and my Olivia's and Tom Bombadil's! <3.

One of my cats has very long, fine, fluffy fur, and no other brush that I’ve tried on him works. A furminator gets some of the undercoat, but it pulls his fur badly and he understandably hates it, so I almost never use it on him.

This dematting rake is incredible. He doesn’t have actual mats but his undercoat is very thick and clumpy, and a cloud of fur started flying the second I began brushing him. He doesn’t love it in the areas where his fur is thickest (even using the more widely spaced side and the picking method described on the package), but he is tolerating little bits at a time, and where his fur is thinner and not getting snagged, he actually enjoys it.

So it’s going to be a slow process at first, but once he gets to a maintenance stage, I think it should be a pretty easy way to keep his fur under control. Also, it even got a little bit of fur off of my short hair cat (which I wasn’t expecting at all), and she hasn’t been this shiny or soft in a while.

I have a long-haired cat for the first time (always had short-haired). He had a lot of matted fur and I didn’t know what to do about it. I ordered this and am amazed at how easy and painless it is to remove the matted fur with this.

Just comb the matted fur over and over and eventually it just falls right out. So thankful I found this!.

This is exactly what I needed for the mats that form behind the ears of my longhaired Greenland dog. It thins and splits and normalized that area comfortably and efficiently (and fast!). The bright color makes it easier to find in the grooming bag.

Needed something to rid my poor dog of the matted hair behind her ears and front legs. Tried it and the first time I used it I was a bit wary and the dog didnt like it. After a few tries she became used to it and at the same time I was able to find out just how much tension I needed to use.

All in all a good buy.

Works like a charm. Bought this to replace same style comb that is 40 years old. Much sharper than d one.

It works great but it would be even better for smaller breeds and shorter fuzzy undercoated dogs if the blades were a little closer together. Other than that this has been my best go to for deshedding dogs.

I really like this Shed Magic tool. There are two different ones, one with the little teeth and one with just the rake. I like the one with the little teeth.

I used it his product when I worked as a grooming assistant and assisted in removing mattes on clients’ dog(s). This product worked very well to remove mattes without discomfort for the dog—and in turn, discomfort for myself while handling the dog.

I used this product several times a day with ease and know it was at least 6 months old and well used when I began to use it myself, so I can attest that it’s durable and worth trying if you have a pet that has issues with matting easily.

I can’t give it a 5* rating because I don’t know it’s cost and don’t own one personally. I can’t speak on the price point, only it’s durability and functionality.

My girl kitty has had a terrible flea infestation all summer. Her under coat is full of black residue, and her entire body was covered in big mats of crud and hair. This brush, fully extended, quickly clears these mats away.

It doesn’t remove that much fur and what is removed looks like loose fur not big mats. Once I’ve got her belly and rear brushed out it’ll be bath time, an experience I don’t look forward too. I am totally impressed by the performance of this tool.

We have a 35kg bouvier x giant poodle. She is a ball of energy and double coatedness!! We have really struggled to keep her matt and tangle free, especially around the chest, shoulders and base of tail.

We should have got one of these AGES ago! It arrived this morning and we have spent the last couple of hours working on her coat with this in conjunction with the wondercoat detangling spray. It is amazing! I cannot recommend this highly enough to anyone with a double coater.

Should have purchased one of these months ago! Great for de-matting and preventing the matting of our Labradoodle’s coat. No more fidgeting and distress during grooming, our dog will now let you strip out the matting even from the most sensitive areas.

Be careful though as the blades are sharp, so slow and careful approach required. Well worth the £11. 50!.

I haven’t used this yet, but I hear it really works on de-matting cats and dogs. I have one cat that seems to get matted a lot–and she’s a shorthair. My long-haired cats do just fine. So I will be tackling the shorthair with this comb very soon.

Works fast and painlessly. Remember to take your time and don’t yank fur. My cat has very soft, fine fur, and I was able to remove the fur balls easily.

My mini schnauzer get tangled pretty easy & this takes the tangles right out.

I’m a dog groomer of 15+ years. Been using this tool for almost all 15. This is the ONLY tool I use to perform de-shedding treatments on short hair coats. It’s also great for a thick arctic coat. This won’t work well or at all on long coats, they are best to have a Furminator brush as well as other combinations of tools used on them.

The dogs generally enjoy getting brushed with this tool because it’s soft and massages the skin. You can STILL brush burn with this tool just like any other brush so watch your number of passes and amount of pressure.

Also great for scrubbing/loosening coat during bath. Example of a few breeds/coat styles good for Zoom Groom: Pug, Pitbull, Smooth coated Chihuahua, Labrador Retriever, Beagle, Husky, German Shepherd Dog, Mastiff.

Examples of breeds/coats better for Furminator and/or combination: Golden Retriever, Rough Coated Collie, Bernese Mountain Dog, Pomeranian, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

After trying 6+ products, I finally found something that works for my dogs. I paired it with a bristle brush, to clean off the loose hair, but this works better than anything else I’ve tried for my pitbulls.

If I didn’t read the package, I would have just tried brushing my dogs with straight strokes, but the package said to use small circles. After about 5 minutes on each dog (I have 2), I had a golfball sized hairball.

That doesn’t sound like much to some, but for short-haired dogs, that is a lot. My complaints are that 1) when brushing, hair just goes flying through the air, 2) I have to use a second brush to wipe off the loose hair, 3) it is hard to wipe off the hair rinsing it off.

I will most likely use it more outside, when the weather warms up, to avoid having the hair go everywhere. Rinsing off the brush was just something that was inconvenient, because I wasn’t prepared for it.

It works really well on my dogs’ coats though, when nothing else worked.

I’m not much on leaving reviews, but I felt someone else needed to hear about this. I have a mixed breed pup with a -peculiar- coat type. I have tried everything from slicker-style brushes, to bristles brushes, and I even own the Furminator, but nothing could pick up the hair that I could easily pull out with my fingers.

I waited wayy too long to try this out because I had lost all hope for anything working, but it really does! Granted, I’m still a huge fan of the furminator and slicker brushes, just for other coat types, but if you have a dog with stubborn loose hairs that will NOT budge, then this works like a magnet and pulls them loose.

My second favorite aspect of this brush is that it is very gentle on the skin, so if your dog is nervous or jumpy (like mine) or has skin sensitivities then this is perfect! She literally did not want me to stop! I bought the “large size” for my 30 lb pupper (see pics for scale).

This product did an awesome job on my cat she was heavily matted on her back but I stress this was easy and worked for me because my cat likes to be brushed. I had no expectations at all when I bought this if it didn’t work I was going to a groomer this product saved me a lot of money.

Again, if your cat doesn’t like to be brushed and won’t stay still this product will be useless. I was very happy with the outcome removed all matted hair. I don’t usually write reviews but I had to for this.

Has a dog on the product worked wonders for my cat.

Our lab-hound mi gets terrible knots during shedding season. We have used all the other major products out there but nothing really got under the top coat. The mat breaker was amazing and we were pulling handfuls of hair of her.

She looks about 10lbs lighter. Just be gentle on the first goes as it drags out knots.

The strange zig zagged metal bristles between the Matt cutters PULL hair. My poor cat. May she forgive me for even trying this on her. What a horrible design. I also spent 19. 99 on it in the store when online it was listed for 10.
