This arrived on time and in good order. The programming of the camera was relatively easy, and the installation of the camera on the top middle of the windshield of my 2009 Camry was a snap using the suction cup.

I don’t trust suction cups as a rule, since I have had so many give way after a while. But this one is still holding fast after several days. If it doesn’t, I can always use the more permanent stick-on mount provided.

Placing the rear camera was a bit of a challenge, but I like messing with electronics, so I was able to attach the camera just above the license plate, and run the wire through a drilled hole behind the license plate into the trunk.

The Camry backup light wire was easily accessible inside the trunk, and I tapped into it without difficulty. I then ran the black wire to the front camera, and the unit functions perfectly. The display, while small, is excellent.

I hid the wiring as best I could. I really would have liked a wireless transmission from the rear camera, to get rid of that long wire to the front camera. Also, a larger screen on the front camera would be nice.

However, neither of these issues effect my rating, and I am quite pleased with the unit.

I used the entry level Enagic for 11 years and it was a good machine. But this machine is 4 steps up and so much better. I am having less acid indigestion and just more energy overall. I highly recommend any of the Enagic Kagen machines not only for your health but the health of the planet as you will never buy another bottle of water again.

The price is unreal I wasn’t sure what to expect! I had 2 buddies that bought the ape man and kept saying how I should get one for my car. The camera came in and they were both very jealous. Picture quality is awesome in the front fine in the back.

Living in Canada, I noticed a good portion of recorded events occurred when it was dark. Due to to the limited night vision performance and resolution of my previous camera (Thinkware F70), I was missing a lot of important details in my footage.

The X1000 is a significant upgrade from the F70, and at the price point, it should be at the top of your shortlist. The sharp 2K resolution and low light performance is a must have. Initially, I was frustrated with the mandatory inclusion of the rear camera; however, I’m now wondering how I’ve gone so long without one.

The added security means that I don’t have to back into parking spaces to catch potential hit and runs, and it also adds a bit of comfort when it come to aggressive drivers. The 2K resolution of a rear camera isn’t typical, and it’s huge bonus to have with this unit.

The IPS LCD touchscreen is a delight to use, it’s very responsive and easy to read. The UI is very well designed, and it will probably make you wish Thinkware designed your vehicle’s infotainment system too.

However, I don’t understand the need for a screen on a dash cam. It’s useful for framing your cameras and quickly modifying settings during setup, but you likely won’t want to review footage on the device.

If you have it hardwired, the viewing angle will be too uncomfortable, especially if it’s mounted behind your mirror. It’s nice-to-have, but not absolutely necessary. I’m surprised this unit doesn’t include wireless connectivity, but I think that’s reflected in the price.

I’ve used a BlackVue product that offered this feature and it was never as smooth as it should have been. One workaround for viewing footage on your iPhone is to buy an SD card-to-lightning adapter and keep it in your car.

If you’re in a pinch and need footage quickly, you can still get it. It might not be as convenient as using WiFi, but at least you don’t need a dedicated app and a stable connection. One other downside to this unit is the size.

It’s not very discreet, but it also doesn’t standout. It seems most people have some sort of gadget permanently mounted to their dash/windshield these days, so this unit doesn’t catch too much attention.

You can also turn off the recording LED’s, which is easily found in the menu. Overall, this camera offers excellent value for what it provides. The only other camera you should consider from Thinkware is the U1000, but be aware that it’s now over three years old.

If you can live without the built-in GPS, WiFi and remote viewing, this camera should be the one for you. Thanks to Terence for the help with choosing CPL filters.

I recently purchased this dash-cam with the OBD II hardwire after an unfortunate hit-and-run while parked. I have it installed on my 2021 Mazda 3 hatch and it’s been really great to have. The parking mode works great and I was glad for the OBD II hardwire option as I know the fuse-box option seems to be complicated for my specific vehicle.

The large touch screen display makes it easy to use and has a lot of great built in settings. I purchased a much larger memory card independently but I slip in the included lower storage SD when I want to take out the higher capacity one to review footage so my car is never without protection! The footage itself is super crisp and I actually pulled some great scenic views from it from a recent road trip! The settings on the camera itself have pre-built profiles based on what type of recording mode you want to prioritize so it’s easy to set it up for parking or switch it over to get the best footage on a nice drive.

Super happy with my purchase and BBMC was also incredibly helpful through the set up process and even sent me some replacement adhesives free of charge when the backing on the one included on the rear camera didn’t peel off correctly.

Was a good purchase for me as it was an upgrade from very old non-capacitor type dashcam. Video quality is much better and LCD touch screen is very useful. I connected external GPS receiver to get more features available for X1000.

Only one thing missed was “Safety Cameras” (Speed and Red Lights alerts) from X1000. I would be more than happy if this feature is implemented eventually. Customer support from BBMC was never disappointed.

Thank you Katrina. I have learned currently there is no plan to have the safety camera feature implemented in the X1000 model. However, I believe Thinkware values customer feedback, so hopefully it could happen when the time comes.

My Garmin 57 was easy to install; it’s easy to transfer videos and photos to my iMac by removing the SDXC card or plugging the Garmin dash cam vis the USB. The videos are clear with a good night view, the audio is good, and the music sounds good on the video when I have the car stereo playing.

The only thing is it’s a little expensive, but it’s high quality, nice and small and sturdy.

The camera is satisfactory however, the magnetic base is not suitable as the attachment need to be permanently fixed to the car windshield. This is not suitable if you have to use it in another car or take it on a hire car for example.

I had to purchase a suction cup mount separately at an extra cost to me when it should have been supplied as a standard item just like all other providers of dashcams provide with their cameras.

– Hardware seems decent, robust, good quality, small – Speed limits for a few roads in Helsinki, and likely elsewhere are out of date. (certain changes that took place in 2019 and perhaps earlier), likely to be a problem with other Garmin devices that use the same database.

– The Garmin Drive™App is pretty basic, does what is needed but from a premium brand I’d expect a bit more.

I love this dash cam. So much so that I purchased a second one for my motorhome. It has everything I was looking for in a dash cam: 4k resolution, GPS, WiFi and it supports a 512GB card. The daytime resolution is great when set to 4k but it does create large files.

A three minute file is about 460MB. I haven’t tried driving at night so I can’t comment on the resolution. The Rove app is pretty good. Allows you to see the videos using WiFi. Unfortunately you don’t get to see the GPS info if the file size is too big.

The Rove Windows GPS app is much better. Pop the card into the adapter and plug it in. The Windows app integrates Google Maps and as the video plays it tracks your path on the GPS screen. It also shows the date, time, speed and GPS coordinates.

I haven’t tried editing yet but there is an option. It’s a feature packed dash cam at a great price.

While I have only owned this for one day, my initial reactions are almost entirely favorable. I do have a basis for comparison, as I have previously owned a Crystal Eye Dashcam. Compared to that, this has superior image quality, many additional useful features, and a much smaller footprint that is less of an obstacle to seeing the road.

That said, the Crystal Eye has a much better screen; it’s larger, brighter, and the correct aspect ratio. Also, the Crystal Eye has a slightly wider camera lens angle. Still, I think the Rove R2-4K is a very nice upgrade compared to my previous Dashcam.

For the price, you simply cannot get anything nicer. Pros: Astonishingly clear video in every resolution I tested. Doesn’t need to run in 4K to be significantly clearer at playback than my former Dashcam.

Someone else complained that playback made 55MPH look like 90MPH, to which I can only say that I didn’t have that experience. Presumably he was recording 24FPS video which was being played back at 30FPS by his player.

I have not tested the built-in player, but can confirm that my clips (including 24FPS) all played at the correct speed in VLC Media Player. The GPS speedometer and position tagging are very nice features, and I already took advantage of the on-screen speedometer when I went for a drive in the dark in an old truck where the dash backlight doesn’t work.

It can actually run off its internal battery for a few minutes, something my other one can’t do, and this allows parking monitoring even if it doesn’t have external power connected. The suction mount is very high quality, and the inclusion of an adhesive pad mounting system for permanent mounting, including cable management clips, is a very nice touch, although as the sheepish owner of nearly a dozen vehicles, I’m stuck with suction for now.

Cons: The screen is a little weird. The biggest thing that is weird about it is that it is a 4:3 screen in a 16:9 device, so the video preview is distorted (compressed) in the horizontal plane (i. e.

, things look tall and skinny. ) This is not a hindrance to using the device. The screen is not ideal for daytime viewing at a slight angle such as you might typically see it when it is mounted on a window, but it is adequate.

Other thoughts: I had no card compatibility issues with my SanDisk flash card, even though the instructions say not to use them. However, this was not a cheap SanDisk; it is U3 rated, so it is claiming to be capable of handling the tremendous volume of data this camera generates, and it seems to be so.

Clearly the person who reviewed this as locking up and stopping its recordings was using an inferior card that couldn’t cope with the sheer volume of data high-quality chip-encoded video recording generates.

Also, take the protective plastic off the lens. It seems so harmless, until you realize that it is creating massive edge distortion by creating a second refraction on the image. I was very disappointed with the image quality until I removed it.

Customer Support from Rexing is horrible to nonexistent. Product build quality of this particular product is Good-Fair but it’s the software/firmware that is really disappointing. WiFi only works some of the time and the quality of 4k Video is sub par.

It’s resolution is 4k in pixel size but not quality. Pick a different brand a product. Also, does not have parking monitor mode built in you need to buy an additional cable for that function. This with lack of GPS, low video image quality, and poor support is a reason to avoid this brand and particularly this product.

I have no confidence this product will actually work when needed most.

Video quality is pretty good, I like how easy it is to mount the rearview camera inside the cabin, I ordered the GPS separately and that helps playback of the video as far as location and your vehicle speed.

I like the fact that you can connect to the camera using WiFi and download video to your phone, sometimes I’ll have problems connecting though. Overall, its fairly priced, decent video quality, easy to install, and I get a feeling of security knowing I’ll have proof if I’m ever involved in an accident.

Driving a 2014 Honda Accord Sport. Short version it’s awesome. Easy to install and it just works! The camera lets you change resolution, frame rate, and how long each recording is. Once I put in the micro SD card in it was all ready to go.

Plug and play. The app is cool too. Makes it easy to download any vid the camera recorded. The only negative that comes to mind is also not buying the second camera. Maybe in the future. Make the purchase you can’t go wrong.

I’ve been using dash cams for the last decade, before they even gained some popularity in the US, and have had multiple brands from HP (no longer makes dash cams), to Cobra, odd Amazon brands, and Thinkware.

For the last 4-years or so I’ve only been using Thinkware in all my cars since they actually work, I’ve never had one break down on me, their app is actually reliable, and they include features that others don’t – like being able to warn you of traffic cameras, detect when the vehicle in front of you breaks, detect when you might not be in your lane, etc.

I’ve used Thinkware dash cams in nice cars, like a fully loaded Audi S4, which is suppose to brake by itself to avoid a crash, and there’s been times when the car’s system just hasn’t worked and the dash cam actually warns me when the vehicle in front of me might be stopping fast or slowing down (sometimes braking hard, which I would see the red lights; other times people slow down without using brakes).

I usually do get the Q800 PRO; but this time opted for the F200 PRO because it’s the only one my local Best Buy had in stock (didn’t want to wait) and it was a good sale price, and although the Q800 feels better built, I’m not really going to complain much about the F200.

The only downside to the F200 is that it requires a separate GPS dongle for that feature to work; but that’s fine, having one more little thing on the windshield doesn’t bother me. Personally, I wouldn’t spend more to get the U1000 since Thinkware and all these dash cam companies use a bid chip and mainly software optimization for 4K (in other words, not really the 4K you would expect from a GoPro or a real camera, so to me, not worth it).

Another thing to keep in mind – the sad truth about these dash cams (all brands), while you’re in motion, most will not really be able to read license plates – especially the little back camera (they all use the same low quality back camera).

Keep in mind that they will capture an accident; but if the other car runs from the scene, good luck if you didn’t catch a plate. Personally, I would also suggest that you keep a dongle in your car so you can just remove the memory card in case of an accident so that you can quickly transfer the recording to your phone/tablet/computer.

Yes, it’s not hard transferring the media over the dash cams app; but you’ll have to connect to the cam’s wifi, transfer via the app, then transfer to your phone’s media folder – and the app tends to not work well if you don’t have good cell coverage, which is dumb; so to avoid having to troubleshoot during an accident scene just keep a dongle/card reader in the car (obviously, take care of yourself, loved ones, and others involved before tinkering with the dash cam – don’t worry, a Thinkware won’t fail you and Oakley captured everything).

It’s not just for accidents, if you hardwire it the cam runs 24/7 and will capture things like motion or whatever you set it to capture. On installation – Best Buy has been awesome for the most part, if you have an American or Japanese car it’s a breeze for them – they even installed a back/front cam system in a soft top Jeep Wrangler for me and did an amazing job.

Euro cars, mainly Audi’s are a headache to them – personally, I’d suggest talking to the tech and if he/she or you aren’t comfortable installing in that car, go to someone who knows Euro cars well.

This is my first dashcam. After spending almost, a month with it and watching a few videos and doing some research I found out that most dashcams actually have the same sensors and cameras it’s the software that makes the difference when it comes to nighttime performance and clarity.

The overall pros of the dashcam are that it’s a very clean and easy setup and it is also pretty small. It may look big in images, but you can easily hide it behind a rear-view mirror which is a plus.

The amount of customization you get with the app like being able to set the level of force the g-sensor can detect and the way it overall runs in parking mode or out of parking mode is also great. They also provide good enough image quality and after doing that research I mentioned earlier almost all if not most dash cams will not be able to discern a moving license plate even at a resolution such as 4k.

It also comes with a 32GB SD card included which as long as you delete videos and save the ones you need for any reason is a nice bonus ad on and enough storage. Now the not so good about the camera.

The main issue is the app. It does take time to adjust to and figure out but even then, the UI is outdated to say the least and it also has its quirks which can make it hard to do certain things. Some of the features provided have no explanation whatsoever which for non tech savvy users already adjusting to this hard to use app can just make the experience worse.

I would say that making updates to the app or a new app in general with UI and user-friendliness in mind would be ideal. Overall, the product is great, and I recommend this dashcam to my friends and family and to you guys as well.

I had purchase a cheaper camera in the past & we all know what happened there… it didn’t last… so without one for a while & during a conversation I decided to do a search on a replacement. Not needing anything to fancy however came across this Thinkware model.

Not bad at all… I did purchase the GPS antenna separately ($65) however they should supply the cigarette light power adapter ($35 – from a 3rd party retailer) as well, so a word of advice the cable that comes with this kit is for a permanent install.

With a rear camera too, it’s fairly easy to setup once you know where you’re going to run the wires. However getting it connected to the iPhone app wasn’t easy as I was being promoted by the app that the camera wasn’t supported and a firmware was required.

After using the SD card adaptor, plugging it into my PC, downloading the software and the program completing / updating the files, I thought all was ok. Plugged the SD card back in, tried to connect the camera and phone via wifi and still the same prompt.

After more searching, it was a setting for the Thinkware app via the Privacy settings that needs to be turned on to allow the wifi connection. Once sorted there, wow the picture quality is quite good! You can view the front and rear camera via the app, download any videos rather needing to remove the SD card.

It’s been about a week now, so no comment yet on recordings but nice alerts to cameras etc.

People that gave this Garmin dash cam a 1 star have no idea how to actually use the camera properly and are focusing on the wrong things. First of all, one of the most misunderstood aspects about the Garmin dash cam is that it does not record continuously and that you have to manually save a video if you get into a car accident – that is simply not the case at all.

The camera continuously records 24/7 while you have the camera on. The video is broken up into 1-minute increments and is saved in the microSD card in the camera. If you ever want to review any footage you simply have to get a full-size micro SD card adapter and then insert it into your computer to view your driving history up to the limits of whatever MicroSD card you have.

In my case, I got a bigger Samsung 64gb SD card that can keep track of almost a week’s worth of driving history. Yes you need Wi-Fi connection to view the footage in the Garmin App which I actually didn’t have too much issues with compared to the other reviewers.

The quality won’t be the same as viewing it on the computer of course which is fine because using the app is really only meant for a quick reference. The 1440p quality, the extremely small size of this dash cam and its very easy mounting process is why I got this camera.

The user experience of the camera is great too because you can easily dismount the dash cam off the magnetic mount if you need to be and the mount is as unobtrusive as can be. I was originally worried that the camera would have an always-on display which I preferred not to have but the camera screen can actually turn off by itself after a minute of driving which pretty much happens once you get your vehicle going down the road.

Overall, if you’re looking for a high quality, easy-to-use dash cam that is both very compact and discreet and not distracting for you while driving, whilst having plenty of extra features like voice control or the safety alerts on the camera, you can’t go wrong with the Garmin 57w.

Nice little camera with good video quality. Got it installed (hardwired) at Halfords. If you view the images on a large PC screen, you can just about read the number plates of cars coming in the opposite direction on a freeze-frame.

The camera has quite a few “driver assist” features that I either don’t like (forward collision alert, lane departure alert) or don’t need (Go alert, Speed camera alert), so I spent quite a bit of time figuring out how to turn them all off (the manual is not brilliant).

The free ‘upload to vault’ (images saved for 24 hours) is also of questionable value (imo), so I also turned that off. Otherwise, it takes several minutes trying to upload large files when you come home (i.

e. get within wifi range) after switching off the ignition. Much easier to just eject the micro SD card and insert into your PC/laptop if you need to review footage. In summary, the core features of the device (video quality, GPS location, compact size) are all very good.

I may invest in a 132 GB sd card, as the one it comes with is only 16 GB, which apparently only gives about 1. 5 hours of recording before it starts to over-write).

Bought this a few weeks back and installed easily using the included mount and cables. Good quality images and useful additional features (speed cam alerts, lane departure etc) that can be turned off if you want.

Voice control useful to tell camera to save a photo/video if you spot something happening ahead rather than pressing a button – camera automatically saves photo/video if it detects a collision etc. itself.

Bonus that when I put a hard wire “Parking Mode” cable in the basket, it came turned out to be FREE!!. A promotion not mentioned on the website. Fitted that this weekend (needed 2 piggy back fuse holder/cables + 2 amp fuses) cable routed in head lining for a professional looking concealed cable job 🙂 Nice that camera includes a 16gb mem card to get you going.

One star off for not including a polarising filter to reduce reflections (useful but not essential). Overall a decent piece of kit at a reasonable price, even better if you spot it on a Halfords promo that comes up every now and then.

This product is excellent. The voice control dash cam feature works great. The drive assist features of red light cameras and speed cameras, lane departure warnings are great. Slightly annoying collision warning feature when in city traffic – always alerting.

But still would rather have it than not on older cars that don’t come with collision avoidance braking features. Traffic moving feature is also useful if distracted looking around rather than in front at a stopped traffic light or in traffic.

But that also can be slightly annoying if you are paying attention and going. The small high res camera also is the best for price in class that I found. Haven’t really used wifi app connectivity yet.

I will order three more for each car and driver in household. There is enough power cord to go around windshield, down under seat and up to center console lighter plug on a 2016 Tacoma. So a car should be no problem to hide/tuck power cord out of the way.

Easy to clean; no ridges or edges that collect dirt, no matter how often you clean. Who engineers those other garbage containers? Obviously, they never have to clean them! SImplehuman containers are well-designed to look great and easily continue to look great! Love, love, love!.

It is interesting to see how Garmin engineers can be completely clueless about the weather conditions where the product will be used. The instructions that came along with box said that the car mount must be installed when the ambient temperature is above 21°C.

That means that for Canadian market, the product cannot be installed for at least 8 months in a year. I waited for a warm day to install the mount. There is a small rubber pad that sticks to the car, and then a metallic mount/hook that sticks to this pad and holds the camera.

Both the pad and hook are octagonal in shape, and it is almost impossible to align both these octagons while sitting in a driver’s seat and your hand obstructing the view. The manual advises you to wait for 24 hours to let the pad and hook adhere properly before installing the cam.

I wait for 24 hours, go to my car and as soon as I try to hook the cam, the hook detaches from the pad and comes out. The quality of binding agent was just poor. So I ended up returning the cam.

If you need a dash cam that comes with dual channel, HD video recording and extra features and do not want to spend too much money, then this is the one you should get. Don’t expect this dash cam give you extremely high quality recording like 2K or 4K model could offered but comes with premium price.

At this price range, you should consider some entry model from reputable brand like Thinkware so you can make sure even you spend less, but you are still able to get a high quality built and well design dash cam.

The best of this package is that the package comes with extra GPS which will cost extra on other website, and with this GPS it could provides you with some safety features like FCW or LDW, but don’t expect they works like the one on cars because they do not have radar sensor so they could only rely on video processing.

However, something better than nothing. And, the reason why I brought this one is because they are dual channel, for some other brand, dual channel usually cost you double the price, here, you only get them for 200 or less.

I found this website on Google. I’d never heard of them before. I had spent a few days reading reviews on various cameras off Amazon, but somehow ended up here. I hit the chat button in the bottom right hand corner of the page and spoke with one of the reps here.

In less than 5 minutes I had all the information I needed to finalize my decision. I made my purchase, and received the dash cam literally the next day. Wowzers, I was impressed. Everything I needed to hardwire the camera into my SUV was included in the box.

The Thinkware is OEM, package was sealed, everything was mint. This particular item comes with the second channel camera for the back, and the included wire is LONG. I routed the cable through my headliner and there’s a ton of extra length.

I installed this in a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe XL Limited and could easily see this camera wire spanning the length of a Suburban, Expedition, Grand Caravan or similar.
