Best Cuts For Round Faces (2024 Updated)

This was my 3rd PWRCORE 20 tool purchase. I already had the reciprocating saw and the oscillating tool. Both great tools! I don’t use a circular saw all that much so I opted to save a little money and purchase the brushed version (brushless was quite a bit more).

The only knock I read in reviews was that the brushless had more power. That may be the case, but I’ve cut a bunch of 2×4’s and plywood and so far power has never been an issue. I love the weight of this thing – it is so light and easy to maneuver.

The only thing I wish they had done differently is the dust collector adapter. I wish it angled to the side instead of blowing the sawdust straight backwards. I don’t attach it to a vacuum so the dust is coming straight back at me.

Hard to avoid a lot of sawdust with any circular saw, I realize, but I’m looking for a way to adapt this so it blows in a different direction. Very minor issue to me, though. Overall I love this saw for what I need it to do.

Pros: Overall good saw. It is light weight, surprisingly easy to handle with one hand. Safety Power switch is a great feature. Stops almost instantly in a second when trigger released. Cons; Not very powerful for even a 12 inch rip cut.

The blade gets stuck sometimes in between the cut. The upper and lower blade guards are both made of non-metal materials (kinda hard plastic). Probably a cost cutting measure. Since the blade is on the left side of motor, the saw dust gets sprayed right on you if you are a right-handed individual.

I had to attach a small dust collector bag that came with a Ryobi sander to the saw to solve this problem. It would’ve been nice if the manufacturer thought about it and added a small dust bag to attach, since this is a portable cordless saw.

Bought this saw just for odds and end jobs and was tired of stringing extension. I chose skill because it was less expensive than most. At first, I had some reservations. However, now that Ive use the saw, Im very impressed and would not waste more money on anything else.

I’ve been ripping Walnut and Oak boards with ease and cross-cutting as well. I didnt realize but id picked up a saw with blade on left instead of right but Im getting use to it. I’d buy this saw again.

I am not a professional builder. I don’t need the best saw money can buy. This is an great little saw for the money. I wear out a circular saw about every six or seven years. I cut boards for various home building projects.

I like the this saw because its light weight and seems to be very capable of doing all that I need it to do. I am not a fan of the plastic retracting blade guard. In the pictures on eBay the guard looks like metal; I did not give it much thought until I got the saw and seen that it was plastic.

The cord is pretty short. I replaced a Performax intermediate priced saw from Menards that cost more than this skil brand saw. The old saw was heavy and had plastic adjusters. For all the Performax’s faults it lasted 7 years.

I like this skil brand saw better than my old Performax overall.

First of all, 13 Amps is only going to give you three power to do some menial, house based work which is all I required. However, the bevel makes this tool extremely difficult to work with. A zero setting (90 degrees) definitely does not cut straight, there will be a slight angle.

You need to adjust with a protractor. Next, the sight notches are not in line with the blade, which is useless. Essentially, you need to wing it or use a plane to guide the blade at all times. Should have spent more to get better quality.

I guess the old saying is right. you get what you pay for.

I bought it as a replacement for my original Skil saw that I bought 40+ years ago to build a house with. I only had to replace the cord once because it was getting old and cracking. I am 74 now, and I still need one for different things and I would not buy anything else but a Skil.

I am quite it will last longer than me, and I have been using it to cut brick with and it had more power than my old one. It was getting tired and old, just like me.

I bought this to use on various projects around the home to avoid dragging out the big circular saw plus extension cords. I recently got an item delivered on a big skid. I used this little saw to cut it up to smaller pieces for our trash can.

I used a fully charged 4 Ah battery and used the attachment to hook up to my shop vac. It did a great job and there was very little clean up when project was complete. Note: the blade did bind up a couple of times when I was not positioned properly over the area that was being sawed.

Every time I positioned myself square with the cut the saw cut thru even the thickest part of the skid like cutting butter. The battery still had around 3/4 charge left. Just amazing. It is light weight and easy to control.

This saw will replace my big corded circular saw as I can’t see the need for that big of a saw for the projects that I do around the house. Thanks Worx for yet another great product.

When you don’t want to mess with cords or want or need to lug around a large circular saw this Worx saw should be considered. It’s lightweight, easy to use, fits in hand nicely and doesn’t compromise on power needed for the job.

Only drawback is the battery and charger aren’t included so if you don’t already have Worx tools it may pose an inconvenience. I also find coordinating different tools with the different batteries obligates a person to stick with one brand which isn’t always the best.

I’m a remodeling contractor and my work can often be very demanding. I need tools that are not only heavy duty, but rugged as well. I purchased this tool to finish installing laminate flooring and it did well for a while.

The blade bent after a few hours use and the cuts were not straight. The base is not very sturdy and although I like the tool, I should have opted for the corded version.

Nice tool for a good price. One of the things I’d like to see on this saw, or any circular saw by ANY manufacturer, would be a set of scribe marks, or something on the base, that indicate where the blade is relative to the base.

This saw has a notch in the base that gives you an idea of where the blade will run, but there is no indication of which side of the blade is represented by which side of the notch. That’s why 4 stars instead of 5.

I haven’t been vexed by the saw getting out square like so many have. No problems in precisely cutting off the bottom of a door that a DIY-er or incompetent carpenter had mangled. But then, most of my precision cutting is with a miter saw or radial arm.

I use the circular saw for rough cuts. But where this saw shines for me is in “salvage” work. I cut up utility reels/spools for firewood. Full depth plowing through solid lumber: no problems. This saw has made hundreds and hundreds of feet of such cuts without missing a beat.

What is especially helpful is the powerful sawdust clearing feature. I even wave this Bosch over the surface to blow away the sawdust from previous cuts to help me avoid nails. I’ve done no maintenance except to use a compressor to blow it out.

(Only improvement I’d like: a larger trigger space to accommodate heavy winter gloves. ) Because of salvage work, I’ve gone through a lot of blades, but I never worry about the saw. So maybe it isn’t the most precise saw, but it is, “blades down,” the toughest, most durable, and reliable one I have ever owned.

I am always leery about buying refurbished stuff but I took a chance. The saw overall (with the exception of the lever to adjust the depth of cut) is good and durable. The problem is that the lever to adjust the depth of cut is Plastic and has a cheap plastic cap and spring behind it.

Very first use Adjusted depth and the cap popped off and shot across the room along with the spring. Pretty cheap/crappy design. Not sure if I can get a replacement piece or am I stuck relying on good ole duck tape to keep the lever in place?!?!.

I have owned many circular saws and this is without a doubt the absolute best I have ever owned. My previous saw, which was replaced by this one, was also a Skil saw, and it just died after more than 25 years of service.

I can’t complain about that. The one I just purchased has more power and is easier to handle than any others that I have owned. Great product that I highly recommend.

Nice saw. I’m not a professional carpenter (I’m retired), but most of the guys in my family (and ancestors) are, and since I don’t have the room, or desire, to buy a table saw, I use circular saws a lot on my sometimes very extensive remodeling projects around our 160-year old home.

This new one is somewhat less clunky, and a lower profile, than my 7-year old Skil whose motor I burned up ripping way too many 2x4s into 2x2s. My old saw’s motor was making grinding noises already, so the smoke and flames spewing out of the motor was not really a surprise.

The laser sighting on this new saw is great, and it extends well down the line I’m following. I did replace the blade that comes with the new saw with a carbide 40-tooth blade, and it cuts pretty clean.

The saw is great for non-professional use. I’ve read a review, or two, about the cut depth-lock lever breaking off, so I set that plastic lock lever very carefully. The only issue I have with it, and all brand new tools, is the curl in the power cords never seems to go away, and are always getting snagged on the saw horses.

It’s a minor thing, but can be a point of irritation when ripping precut studs.

I build house’s needed a small saw so I didn’t have to roll out cord and saw and kick on the generator for 10 minutes worth of work my Dewalt cordless batteries needed charging so that wasn’t an option.

The Hyper Tough saw 20v battery last for a short time. It doesn’t have the power of a Dewalt cordless saw and it’s not suppose too. Dewalt is professional grade tool’s. The Hyper Tough cordless is not that.

It will bind on a 2×4 because the power isn’t there so the rpm is lacking so just go slow and try not to push it though the wood and it’ll do the job. It will also depend on the type of wood your trying to cut.

If cutting o. s. b or ¾ flooring you’ll kill the battery quickly. It’s a decent enough tool for the weekend warrior’s and DIY project’s but if your looking for something with power like some of the reviews stated spend the extra money.

I have a dewalt cordless for the job site reason I bought the Hyper Tough was because my batteries were recharging and needed a small saw to complete a project on the way home. So that’s my honest review and yes it’s mixed in with my other work tools and it gets used.

I purchased this saw because my corded saw was starting to make a loud grinding noise. I know the bearing is going out. I had a mini cordless saw by a maker. It was way under powered, 18 V, and struggled to cut 1/4 inch plywood.

When I saw the 20V cordless Hyper Tough saw in Walmart I was impressed with the weight and feel of it in my hand (thank you Walmart for having your tools on the shelf to handle)! I looked over the box.

It came with a battery, a charger and a fence but a big surprise was it also came with a nice blade. Once I got it home and the battery fully charged, I had to try it out. I have to admit the 20V makes a lot of difference! The included carbide tipped blade is very sharp and heavy, not a flimsy “throw away” blade.

The saw sliced through a 1×6 like a hot knife through butter. It cut clean and fast, never bogged down or even slow down. I’m very impressed with how well it cut. The battery can be used on any of the 20V cordless tools Walmart has in the Hyper Tough line, another plus! I used the saw, switched the battery to my Hyper Tough drill and drilled holes and placed screws in installing several 8 foot shelves.

The battery never showed any loss of power. I’m just finishing a room addition on my home and planning another room addition. I look forward to using this 20V Hyper Tough saw in building it! It’s so much lighter than my old corded saw, plus no extension cords.

With my two 20V Hyper Tough tools I can use one battery while my other one is changing! I own several corded Hyper Tough tools and I have to say I have never been disappointed in any of them.

I have got to say I didn’t expect much for the money and I was wrong. I own a few 20V circulars that I paid more for. Some are great but few of them perform as well as this HyperTough saw. For the DIY guy this saw should serve him well.

It cuts smooth and has plenty of power to get the job done. The ergonomics are well thought out and it is comfortable to use all day. Easy to make precision cuts and the battery lasted me far longer than I expected.

I bought the saw as my 15 or so year old battery powered circular saw was and is not strong enough to handle the small jobs I had. It would stall if I pressed too hard in cutting a 2×4 and it went through the battery pretty fast.

The saw was a disappointment as I have many tools by the same manufacturer that are excellent. The brand is also used by contractors although, in my opinion, it sits between home use brands and heavy duty contractor brands.

I usually end up taking out my 70’s all metal plug in saw, a heavy ill handling beast. My first attempt was to try the new brushless motor compact saw of the same manufacture, but it was even less powerful and was returned immediately.

Milwaukee is a good name so I decided to try it out as the price of this one was within my budget. I was surprised to learn afterward that the price of the included battery and charger was more than the saw with the battery and charger.

As I was going to return it if it didn’t perform as expected, I used my 30 tooth 6-1/2” blade to test it. It cut better than my old saw, but not by that much. I was disappointed. However to make it a fair trial, I took the framing blade off my saw and tried again.

I was surprised at the difference as it cut through the wood as if it was butter. I didn’t know the fine toothed blade used so much power. As a final test I fully extended the blade to cut 2” deep in a 3”x11” ash piece of lumber.

My old saw would go in about 2” or 3” and stall and then stall almost immediately if I tried to keep going. The compact saw, maybe an inch before stalling. The Milwaukee went the full 11” with no stalling or any problems.

I was sold.

I needed a good, cordless cross-cut saw to go with my setup. using it with a 5. o Ah battery I found the saw lightweight and easy to handle. THe included framing blade cut very well and produced clean splinter-free cuts in the old plywood I cut.

I only wish the little vacuum attachment worked a little better. It didn’t allow me to connect a standard small-diameter wet/dry vacuum hose without filing down some of the plastic on both the attachment and the vacuum nozzle (which otherwise fits all my other attachments of various brands).

It’s also placed in a way that means it captures only part of the sawdust with much being kicked out into the room. Nonetheless, I’m very happy with the performance of this saw and it’s much easier to handle than my big, heavy, corded Skil circular saw.

Right out of the box I knew it wasn’t good quality, I even turned to my buddy and said “I’m going to have to return this. ” My first concern with the saw was the blade guard, it’s plastic. That’s the most important part of the saw in terms of safety and it gets the most abuse as the saw always gets set down on the guard.

10 years in carpentry and I’ve never seen a plastic blade guard on a saw. Absolutely rediculous. My second issue with the saw was that it didn’t even come with a wrench for the blade nut, not only that but the Allen key hole in the blade nut was messed up.

Not a single Allen wrench, standard or metric, would fit. As for functionality, it could have been much better. The saw bogged down trying to cut through 3/4″ mdf. I should have known this was a bad tool when even the Milwaukee rep himself recommended I didn’t buy this.

Bought it and returned it the next day. This is the second bad review I’ve left for Milwaukee and I am disappointed to say the least. I tried contacting customer service without ever seeing even a confirmation email.

Now I’m here, writing a review to try and help anyone else avoid the headache that has been Milwaukee tools.

Very nice metal cutting cutting saw! It put a blade for cuttinf aluminum in it and it made quick work of the 1/8 aluminum diamond plate that I was working with. I cut about 30 linear feet total in the diamond plate along with 15 or so pieces of 3/16″ x 2″ aluminum angle.

Saw only used less than half of a high output 3. 0 battery. Easy to keep straight, small enough to be comfortable to work with for longer periods of time but very powerful for its size. Cuts cool and doesn’t leave burrs on the edges of cut.

Faster than a jigsaw with metal cutting blade and much easier to keep straight. The one thing that I see that could be bothersome to some users is the amount of metal chips it produces. Most users won’t be bothered by this, but it is worth mentioning for some.

I highly recommend this saw for anyone that wants or needs quick clean cuts in metals up to 3/16 of an inch thick. Great for cutting EMT or rigid conduit, unistrut and metal studs also. I’m sure that it’ll cut thicker material just as cleanly but it’ll be slower going.

All in all, another great product from Milwaukee!!.

I bought this saw specifically for its light weight and small size. I already had a (corded) Fein Slugger 9″ worm drive metal saw, and I had been looking forward to the release of the Milwaukee Fuel 8″ Metal Saw, but decided what I was lacking more was something with easier handling for, say, going up a ladder and cutting a fairly small piece.

A large saw can be really clumsy and precarious doing that sort of thing. Besides cutting metal tubing, sheet, and plate, I have used it to cut plywood, 2x4s, and PVC pipe. The blade isn’t particularly fast for cutting wood, but it works pretty well.

For PVC, you can get a real clean cut–much better than using a hacksaw or sawzall, IMO. This is an awesome little saw, but I found a couple of its limitations. First, cutting longitudinally through a weld bead on 1/4″ mild steel plate (about 3/8″ total thickness), the residual stresses in the metal began to pinch the blade pretty good.

The little saw was powering through it, until after about 3-1/2″ out of maybe 6 or 7″, the heat protection would apparently shut it down. It was then a pain to extricate from the cut, and several carbide tips were damaged and lost in the process.

I actually repeated this twice before I realized the saw had shut itself down. Also in the process, the abundance of hot chips partially melted through the lower guard (some blistering on the outside).

After this, I got out my Fein Slugger 9″ corded saw, and powered right through it all. If it had not been for the pinch due to the weld bead, I think the only problem would have been the guard melting–which would have actually been worse.

One thing a buyer should be aware of is that there is no bevel adjustment for this saw–90 degree shoe angle only.

Great little saw. I bought it before doing a metal roofing job where I had to cut 6 different valleys. What I did was make a little wooden track jig that sits on top of the metal and the saw rides evenly above the ridges and cuts wonderfully.

I find myself using the saw alot at the house and shop too since I do quite a bit of work with metal. Great purchase! Wish I had gotten it sooner. My only minor complaint is the saw doesn’t balance well with a larger battery attached and tends to fall on its side when you go to lay it down.

I bought this after having 14. 4 DeWalt (way-way back) and thought i would give another cordelss saw a go. And i was extremely happy with the performance and ease of cutting the tool provided. It enabled me to not bust out electrical cords when i needed to rip some long boards but didn’t need 20 boards cut- Although I think this could do it with dual-batteries on a full charge.

I am switching out all of my cordless tools to Makita – as having one system makes life simpler!.

Saw came as expected and included blade and rip fence. Plate is good and all bolts work and angle, tighten, and loosen well. Got my batteries and charger elsewhere and confirmed saw works great. Minor negligible damage to the handle but Im totally fine with that.

This 18v Makita Saw was a Fathers Day gift to a pro construction worker. He had been wanting this specific saw for some time because he had used a borrowed one with great pleasure. It has all the features and power desired for his purposes.

He and his son, who has this saw, prefer this saw since it has the blade on the best side/position for a right handed user to accurately see the blade and cut. This higher performance and rpm version (versus lesser models) has power and battery life to work effectively.

Strongly recommend this Specific Makita 18v brushless circular saw.

It’s ok, kinda meh…if I had seen it IRL I would not have bought it…especially for the price!

Festool invented the track saw and It’s well known to be as about the best you can get. So, when only the best will do, this is the saw to get and the precision and accuracy of this saw are hard to beat.

The cuts are extremely impressive to say the least. I’ve never seen anything that I’ve cut before look as good and precise as the ones I’ve done with this saw Sure it’s expensive but, when you want quality, you have to pay quality money.

The first one I got had a problem and when I explained the nature of the problem to Screwfix, they promptly sorted it, even delivering a new one and picking up the problem saw. Now that’s service ! With service like that, why bother to look anywhere else ? I’ve always had good service with Screwfix and they’re a 15 minute walk from me, so they certainly have a long-term customer in me : ).

These are great, but for the money you’d expect it to be. Extremely accurate, cut quality is excellent, dust extraction is excellent. In my opinion they are worth it but only as the accuracy and cut quality saves me from finishing off whatever I’ve cut with a plane and the speed and accuracy that sheet materials can be processed is great and the saws splinter guard saves the waste cut edge as well.

Festool in my fairly limited experience is reliable as long as it’s not rattling around in the back of a van and is handled a tad more delicately than my dewalt gear. That being said any time I have had a reliability issue with any festool product they’ve sorted it quickly and either free (within warrantee) or reasonably, and thinking about it I’ve had to send more dewalt stuff back due to reliability issues than festool anyway!.

Great products by Festool and expect this saw to be the same. My previous one along with most kf my big Festool collection was stolen recently so had to replace my track saw and went again for the well trusted one.

The price was great too. Please consider not supporting the tool thieves by purchasing equipment that seems stolen as it could be you next time. Always check the Serial number by contacting Festool and checking if it’s registered to the sellers name.

I have used it quite a lot for just about eight months of steady use. Ive owned it over a year now. The handle or grip is just terrible. It is super difficult for me a size medium in a military glove, I am 71 inches tall to depress the release and the trigger at the same time.

lt–they need to be a lot closer. It false starts and then goes off. My hand is very sore after I use it for even half an hour. This is beyond irritating and I have probably ruined a couple hundredworth of materials from this.

I tried cutting some 3/4 inch sub floor with a new blade but no way. It kept conking out from my gripping or just some kind of electrical problem. It is hard to see the line ahead when you cut and to keep the blade guard from fouling your work on short edged wood is a nightmare.

Most tools I own, I can master after 20 hours of use, but Im frustrated with this tool. If you are cutting small stuff and that means thin, small stuff, it works marginally OK. I see the rave reviews here and wonder if perhaps you folks arent 78 inches tall and have extraordinarily large hands.

Product well made, powerful, however be aware that handling while using is awkward, I suspect that this type of build are all same. Even though my hand is on the smaller size, to grip trigger switch while pressing in the safety and gripping round saw body is very awkward.

Prolonged use might result in carpal tunnel syndrome. The saw’s body is on the thicker dimension due to a more powerful motor. If someone is looking for a easy to handle saw they might want to seriously explore the traditional top handle build with trigger in the handle, I have been using saws for over 35 years and like to be able to do all sorts positions which I find with this saw very difficult due to type of build, this may also be a little bit of safety issue.

For it’s size saw has plenty of power very pleased with that feature. Had considered returning saw but will keep and add to my collection of hand saws. Product arrived with all advertised articles and well packed.

For what it’s worth, from a professional carpenter.

This is a tough saw. I put a porter cable blade on it and set about cutting plywood, trim, shelving, mdf, and all sorts of stuff. Iam notoriously rough on tools sort of like the American Tourister Gorilla was to suitcases.

This saw has a good bevel and safety cover. Accurate notch to align and a laser that works and produces a deep red line. The only part I do not like is that the laser is battery powered, uses hearing aid style batteries, and it kills the batteries.

I used this saw on a project of cutting trim , shelves, and plywood for 3 days. Cut 400ft of trim, cut shelving for 20 book cases , and cut shelves for cases. 3 days and went through 3 sets of batteries.

For a casual user this is not a problem. Cut a few boards and go away. unfortunate because this tough little saw will cut all day long and is worth every penny except for the laser.
