20 Best Curling Iron For Travel (2023 Updated)

This is a pretty product but in my opinion, if you’re trying to just get a cheap under $30 iron spend a few $$ extra for the Infiniti Pro Rose Gold, which is also pretty. I am trying to replace an ancient Remington ceramic iron that I loved for years but didn’t get hot enough anymore and the clip finally broke.

And I don’t curl my hair often enough to justify a $100 curling iron. First I got an Infiniti Pro Rose Gold 1” — thinking, since the curls fell out from my old one maybe a tighter curl would take longer to loosen.

Wow did that thing curl! I didn’t realize how BUSTED the old one was till I used the Infiniti Pro. But then I realized I DIDN’T need the smaller barrel. At the store, no 1. 25” Infinity Pros, so I got this ceramic 1.

5” one instead. I KNOW the sizes are different so I’m not complaining that this ceramic one made looser curls or that they fell out immediately because of the size. But what I noticed was that this iron seemed much cooler, although both are labeled max 400 degrees.

I had to turn it up to 25, and then put on the Turbo to really get a decent curl. On the Infiniti Pro I got good curls at 15. I assume to get to 400 degrees on the ceramic, you have to put it on 30 Turbo.

I usually use 365 degrees (according to my digital display flat iron), so 25 Turbo might’ve been about that. I don’t want to buy a product I have to run at max setting right off the bat because as it gets older and loses the ability to heat, I usually crank the dial up until it dies completely – but I can’t if I need to max it out day 1.

It’s also possible the metal barrel on the Infiniti Pro contributes to a better curl over the ceramic barrel. Secondly, the on/off and turbo buttons are in a spot where I always kept pushing them and turning the curler off.

Once I was aware of it I was very careful not to push them but it made it awkward to hold the curler and difficult to rotate it easily. On the Infiniti Pro there is no button (turning the temp dial turns it on).

Some reviewers complain about that, that they accidentally rotate it while using it, but I think it was way less of an issue than these buttons. This one’s going back and I guess I will try ordering a 1.

25” Infiniti Pro…or maybe stepping up to a 1. 25” Hot Tools.

I just did a big chop today, and stopped by Ulta for a few things to help keep up with my new short bob. I usually go from long to short every 3 years, but seem to end up needing new tools every time I chop.

I got this curler on sale, but even the full proce is not too much for a Conair. I chose this particular curler because of the barrel size, the color, and the price. I have very fragile hair and extreme heat will cause it to break.

lowering the temp setting usually means weak curls that fall flat in 10 minutes or less. I followed the instructions and kept it at a 10 for fine hair. It heated up in about one minute. The heat was sufficient to create well defined curls which are still holding up well after I curled them.

I am impressed with this curler and pleased with my purchase.

I should have read the most recent reviews first before purchasing. I have longer hair and I thought this curling iron looked like it would do the job…NOT at all! First of all, I don’t know what is the deal with where they have placed the on/off and turbo buttons, but as you are using, my thumb kept hitting it and turning it off.

Next, no matter what products I used before or after, it does NOT hold any curls. At first I thought maybe my hair was ‘too clean’ so I tried it several different times, and same results! I even made sure not to curl too much hair at one time and did smaller sections.

Don’t be fooled…when you’re using it, you’ll see the curls, but as soon as you’re finished and go about your day, they are GONE! Disappointing because it took a long time to curl all my hair. But like other comments read, you get what you paid for.

I do agree that it’s a pretty iron and the barrel is smooth, but that doesn’t matter if it doesn’t work. Don’t recommend.

I’m sure the curling iron is fine, however, after using it my pixie cut that is longer on top, my hair wasn’t curly. It was knappy, kinky.how can I change this. What was my mistake. Please respond.

This is an AWESOME Curling Wand. It’s taking a little getting used to the VERY LONG barrel and the results are worth it. Nice smooth Ceramic Tourmaline contributes to the overall smooth affect of styling.

I love love love love this product, by the time I bought it it cost me like 9$ and it have been with me since then. Great quality and so affordable. You can make different hair styles with it (different types of curls) just look on YouTube tutorials! Or if you are interest you can just ask me and I can help you with that.

This is my best friend now and I wouldn’t chance it 😂 I’m a loyal customer with this one as you can see on my video it’s a little bit burn because if you use a product for your hair and it’s wet you can burn it a little bit but can always change your temperature! Like I said I have this for years and I’m still learning how to do my hair without ruin it.

I’m a 90s girl at heart and I love the curl my hair with a curling iron. I’ve tried using flat irons to curl it but I does not give the same effect. So I will always have the in my hair tools. I use this several times a week.

It heats up in less than a minute. Has an automatic shut off in case you forget. Makes beautiful loose curls. Pretty inexpensive. I recommend trying this product.

I love this curling iron, have my original for well over 15 years and I just reordered the same one. Great for soft sausage curls that can be easily brushed into a natural look wave. Just the right diameter and long enough barrel to curl long hair with ease.

Nice size end tip helps prevent finger burns when wrapping or unwrapping hair onto the iron. Varied heating levels are a plus. Never had a cord problem in the 15 years of its service. So why did I need to buy another.

I love this style so much I didn’t want it to be out dated and off the shelf before I got another. how many items are still around and going strong after 15 years?!?.

Prefacing to state my hair is naturally straight. Since I was young no curling iron has managed to keep a curl in my hair. My mother used her curling irons by various brand that had the clip (Revlon, etc), she used the Conair Infinitipro Curl Secret (one that sucks your hair into it) & as she was going through my hair the curl was coming out.

I’ve used my own Curlipop wand by Tigi, & a small brand of soft curlers that you sleep in called Cozy Curlers. Everything formed a curl, but an hour or two later, it was gone or looked horrible. Then I look in the hair section at my local Walgreens & this was on sale from $30 to $20.

I took a few minutes to Google reviews & decided to take a chance on it. And I’m so glad I did. I’ve only used it a couple times so far, but the curls look amazing & stay all day! You can either have tight ringlet-styled curls, or brush it out a bit to get beach waves.

I will say the barrel takes a bit to get used to & the first time of using it your hair will slide from the end to the tip, but you just have to keep practicing. I’m somebody who loses patience easily, but I got the hang of it & it’s really easy for me to do now.

I bought this because I cut my hair short a few months back. It’s still growing and I usually curl my hair with my straightener. But it’s really hard to do with short hair. I have a expensive straighter so I didn’t want to go crazy on a curling iron.

This is seriously amazing. It’s very light easy to use has different heat settings. My hair came out in this beautiful wave like curl I definitely would have never gotten that with my straightener. I just wanna say be careful I did burn my finger slightly.

The glove that it comes with didn’t fit my small hand or fingers lol so there’s that but everything else was amazing. love it.

the other reviews are not lying I have had this curling wand since high school in 2010 and the only reason I’m replacing it finally is because the colorful material at the base is starting to flake off.

This curling wand has never failed me, I’m pretty sure this is what I used for my prom, my wedding and everything in between. it’s a smaller barrel and that’s why I like it. It’s perfect for when I want to curl my hair and also perfect for fixing any stray pieces when I wear my curly hair natural.

As long as they are selling this curling iron ($15?? are you kidding??) I will be buying it whenever it needs replaced. I cannot stress this enough I spent $15 on it and I’m still using it 11 years later and it works just as good as when I got it.

This is a really nice curling iron. I like that when you rest it on surface it not only has an area in the middle to rest it on, but it also has a little piece at the very end tip so the curling iron does not touch the surface of your furniture.

The barrel is a gold color and the handle is very easy to squeeze. There are multiple heating selections and it is in all around comfortable product to use. It heats up fast and can heat up to 400° with what they call turbo boost.

It has 30 heat settings. Really love this product and feel that it does wonders to my hair. I do recommend it.

I purchased my third of this model in January. I am exchanging it today, because like the two before it, it quickly stopped working. Pros: It’s hard to find a nice 1″ iron. It glides on my coarse hair so nicely.

It gets very hot. The cord is very nice, long and cloth wrapped. Cons: This one was making a crackling sound in the first week and today (April 3) would not turn on. I use it every other day at most.

The first one I had lasted a few years; the second one, only a few months. I vowed not to buy another, but bought a third because I had a gift card and couldn’t find a 1″ iron that had as nice of a ceramic coating.

This one lasted 3. 5 months. I’m careful to turn them off since there’s no auto off, and it only was used minimally each day. I’d gladly pay more to get a better quality product. Babyliss, invest in some quality control!.

Thank you Target for making this curling iron available. I saw it on other websites but needed to have a beautician’s license to purchase it. This curling iron is amazing. It came protected in it’s own box.

Delivery was very fast. I have fine, color treated hair. I followed the directions and used the temperature provided. I love how the dial stays in place, unlike other curling irons. I especially love how the clamp stays put.

My hair, even though fine, does not slip out. Usually the curls will droop after a couple hours. They are still here the next day! My hair feels smooth, conditioned and not fried as with other curling irons.

Purchased this because my hairstylist uses it. *It gets hot fast & works. No smell coming from it. *Gorgeous curls that are still going strong on the second day (today). *I did however burn my fingers bad grabbing the tip- it’s way too small.

After that I figured out how to curl it without needing to touch the end at all. *All these reviews saying it doesn’t curl or your hair won’t hold a curl- that’s your hair not the curling irons fault.

Put a heat protectant on, a mouse- blow dry/air dry, THEN curl. Add a texture spray &/or just a soft hair spray. *Recommend.

When I buy curling irons or blowdryers, I find myself in that awkward “gray zone” between not wanting to spend a fortune yet not wanting the product to be low-quality and break quickly. Hot Tools is slightly pricey, but for the price you get a product that lasts forever and does a fantastic job the whole time.

Heats up quickly, quality barrels, cords don’t tangle easily and are long. great product.

I like this curling iron but idk if my curls hold as well as with other irons that I have used. Def could be because it’s a larger barerll abs I probably need a haircut but overall it’s a decent iron at a good price which is nice.

Tried this product from Amazon based on the reviews and it did not disappoint! This product heats up quickly. I love that it has different sizes for whatever look I am going for. Also works well for long thick hair! My picture is where I used the thickest wand size.

I love this curling wand set! It’s very effective and takes about 10-15 minutes to do a full set of hair. I am a first time user but i Love it! I would probably use a bit of hairspray fo make the curls hold.

If i could improve it id probably add more heat settings too!.

Curling my hair has always been a battle, but the story is now changing. Growing up a set of leave in curlers was the only way I was capable of curling my hair- but the outcome was wonky and inconsistent.

Unless my Mom, sisters or friend was involved there was no way for me to get consistent curls, but the curl pattern holding would always be short lived. An important piece to know as a friend introduced me to the wonders of GHD.

I have three holy grail GHD products ranging from the Platinum+ Flat Iron to the GHD Max Styler in my home at all times. I thought leaning so hard on straighteners the last 15 years that I may have taken all of the volume and body possibilities out of my hair as I have not been able to sustain curls for more than a few hours.

I used an actual stop watch to see how the Thin Wand stood the test of time while getting ready. It upheld 30 seconds exactly from hitting the on button to singing a chime telling me she was ready to work.

The wand is a delight to use. It’s not heavy and it’s easy to wrap your hair around the thin barrel. It heated up very quickly and a chime sounded to confirm it was ready to use. I like the mini glove which comes with it to protect your finger and thumb.

Word of advice, ensure the wand is pointing away from your neck when curling the bottom layer of hair to avoid any accidental burns. I have normal / thick long hair and managed to curl all my hair in under 12 minutes.

I prefer to alternate the direction when curling my hair to achieve a more natural look. I was worried the curls would be too tight so I curled a slightly larger section of hair and ended up with bigger, beautiful, bouncy curls.

Due to my hair type, the curls last 2-3 days with only a couple of touch ups and the curls hold their shape. I have used this wand for the last week and I love it. I really wasn’t sure if a thin wand would work with my longer thicker hair but it’s a fantastic wand and I can achieve different types of curls with it.

The GHD curve thin wand is an amazing product to add to my hair tool collection,i already have the GHD,straightners & this has just made life so much easier and glamorous for me. The wand heated up extremely quickly.

I have very long hair and usually struggle in getting strong curls & curling the back of my hair myself but this wand was realy simple & didnt take me long to style or get used to. My hair is quite thin,so the curls left a lovely volume & glamorous looking effect.

I think curling wands have a little bit of a learning curve and this is the first time I’ve tried one. A couple things I love about it: it comes with a glove so I can use my hand to get the ends of my hair curled without worrying about burning myself, has varying heat temperature options to help get a stronger or looser curl, and it heats up really fast.

I also like that it takes a full second of pushing the on/off button to actually turn the wand on or off- this reduces the chances of my small children accidentally turning it on by just pushing the button.

This is by far my favorite curler ever! It’s so easy to use, and actually holds a curl for more than an hour. I’ve learned to make lots of different types of curls, but my go to is always spirals that I brush out for a beachy relaxed look!.

Curling iron works wonders. It heats up superfast making your styling time that much faster. You do however have to be super super careful because if you leave your hair on this curling iron just like with any other curling iron It will fry your hair.

I find that this curling iron specifically You’ll have to be a lot more careful than any other brand because it will fry your hair if you’re not careful enough. But all in all it is an absolutely amazing curling iron I would recommend it and recommend also to use it in the lowest setting and just be vigilant and do not leave it on for a long time on your hair and you should be good and I’m sure you love it.

This is my favorite curling wand. It’s so easy to use. I get perfect curls every time. I usually wrap my hair starting mid shaft and wrap it going up. I leave it one for a little 6 seconds and then release.

Prefect curls. Every time! And I always get asked what I use whenever I go out. Love how it’s just a wand, easy to use and super fast, considering I have really thick hair. Will buy this again if needed.

Got this for Christmas maybe 5/6 years back and it’s my favorite wand. I’ve been able to use it with chin length and past shoulder length hair. Took a little adjusting to get used to not having to use a clip but I wouldn’t have it any other way! Great quality product still works as good as day one.

So I’m one of the many woman who cannot for the life of them use a regular curling iron 🤦🏼‍♀️ After years of trying I started getting really fed up with curl failure. I was about to drop $200 on a “fancy” curler when my friend told me to try a curling wand first so I purchased this one with the expectations that I would fail at using this as well.

I was so beyond happy when I used this for the first time. It made awesome curls and you can control if you want a tight curl or a more beachy style by how tight you wrap it. I slept in my curls the first night and they held up surprisingly well.

I had to touch up a few spots but I expected that as I always have to touch up my hair. The only thing I have to say is my curls did not hold up against humidity so I’m not sure if that is fault of the curling wand or my naturally wavy hair rebelling at being in the heat.

Overall I’m super pleased with this product especially as it was my first wand.

It fits. This Black Gold 1″ Marcel Curling Iron has a locking and rotating Marcel wand. I like that’s it has settings up to 455 degrees F. It has a locking and rotating handle as well. I like how it also has a very comfortable grip that most other curling irons doesn’t have.

I got this curling iron because everyone always tells me hot tools are amazing products so I figured I would try it out. The curling iron will heat up to 455 degrees and has a indicator light to let you know when it’s ready.

So got it all ready and went to curl my hair only to find out there is a huge learning curve for this curling iron that I didn’t realize at first. So off to YouTube I went to watch some videos. I have to admit it took me a lot of practice to conquer this product but once I got the hang of it then it curled like a dream.

My curls are gorgeous and sometimes even last for days. I would say that if I was doing someone else’s hair it might have been easier but doing it myself was a bit challenging at first. Now that I know how to use it though I do love it and would recommend.

I got this curly iron. I have used it quite a few times in my hair and really love the way it curls in my hair. It is very easy to use. It has an on and off button. It has a setting button from 200 and something to 450.

I like that the handle you can lock it in place. Also with the handle you can unlock it where it will turn instead of using your hand to turn to let your hair out of the curling iron. The handle that you open to close your hair also turns which makes it neat To use.

It heats up really fast. I would say this product is awesome to use If you do your hair often. Or if you are a beautician.

Overall, my favorite part is that the iron is cordless. As long as it’s charged up, you don’t have to worry about it(and you) getting all tangled up possibly burning yourself in the process. I did 2 types of curls on 2 separate days both fresh washed and dried and ready to go.

The tighter curls last for about an hour before they started dropping and the loose curls pretty much stayed throughout the day. I used hairspray both times. My hair didn’t get trapped in the clip which was an issue with my last curling iron so that’s a plus.

There’s a tiny, distinct noise that comes from the iron while on that I found annoying but it wasn’t super loud so I can live with it. The iron is a decent weight but I’d like it a bit lighter because that will cause my arms to get tired especially with making tighter curls.

I’d say this curling iron is just above average only because of the bonus of no cord.

This is a wonderful curling iron. It heats up fast, and it gives me soft, bouncy, long lasting curls in no time. It’s simple to use. Of course it comes with instructions, but I find it very intuitive to use.

Everything you really need to know is on the handle, where you can adjust the temperature up and down with no effort whatsoever. The biggest benefit is the cordless aspect. It charges quickly and you can use it while charging.

But, once it is charged, it was a game changer for me. I always had problems with cords twisting up and tangling when I used curling irons in the past. This eliminates that issue completely. If you are looking for a new curling iron and want one that is easy to use without any cords to get in your way, this is the one for you.

The Hot Tools Signature Series Curling Iron is a decent economical curling iron. I got the 1. 25 inch barrel so I could create loser curls and waves than my 1 inch curler. I like that it has the swivel base and wire that Hot Tools is famous for.

The cord length is long enough to curl comfortably but not so long that there is a lot of excess cord. I like that there is an on off switch and that the temperature dial is very simple. The range of temperatures is really nice to adjust for different hair types and styles.

The iron heats up relatively quickly but I wish there was an indicator to show when it has reached the desired temperature. My lower end budget iron has this indicator, so I was surprised this iron didn’t.

My straight fine hair had to use a higher temperature setting than was recommended for the curls to hold. I prefer a curling iron without a kickstand because it sometimes gets in the way of curling but that is a personal preference.

While this iron looks very similar to other curling irons made by Hot Tools, this is from their more economical line and isn’t labeled as being made of 24K Gold like their higher end lines. The handle is made of a hard plastic and seems pretty sturdy.

I found that if I held my finger higher on the plastic lever, it did feel very warm. I found that the clamp was adequate and I didn’t experience a lot of hair pulling but it was also not the smoothest to release my hair.

Overall, I think this is a decent choice for an economical curling iron and for people who just want to curl their hair occasionally.

I have long, thick, slightly wavy hair that looks crazy air dried. I always have so much trouble finding a curling iron that will actually work with my hair ! I’m so glad that I took a leap of faith and started using this curling iron! After curling my hair with this curling iron / wand my hair looks 1,000 times more polished.

And it gives me beyond beautiful curls !! I don’t even have to touch them up like I normally have to ! They are so full and big beautiful curls! I did sleep on them and of course I touched up around my face and the back ! Literally doesn’t take any time at all! It cut the time in half that it takes me to curl my hair just because I wasn’t having to go back and keep curling , they stayed and my hair held the curls so good! easily the worst curling iron i’ve ever tried. I had an iron from an only slightly less reputable brand than this one and I honestly never wanted to buy another but alas it stopped working and I searched for a replacement.

I heard a lot about this brand so I bought this one around a year ago. I immediately tried it without using any different styling products. For reference I have wavy hair about armpit length, medium thickness and have never had issues with my hair holding a curl, I only ever needed a small amount of hair spray (worked with a variety of irons) but the “curls” that are produced from this product last less than a minute.

I have adjusted the heat and tried DOZENS of hairsprays or styling products to hold this curl and nothing works. It barely curls my hair and even the hottest setting doesn’t do anything. I gave up today on this iron I wish I never wasted my time on it.

I get a better curl just scrunching like crazy with a dollar store mousse. It’s completely trash.

Oh my god! This is the best invention ever! I’m your typical “late for everything” mom. You don’t know how nice it is to be able to do your hair in the car 🚗 and how quickly you can do it with this!! And this thing curls my hair better than my l’ange products!! I can’t find this or the butane cartridges for it anymore, anywhere! This is small (about the size of my hand) but powerful! Some things to know: It comes in 2 pieces in the case. You have to put the TheraCell cartridge into the iron to make it work. You then click the button to power on the iron.

It sounds and smells almost like a lighter- which can be a little disconcerting but that’s just the butane gas doing its thing. According to TSA, this CANNOT be checked on a plane. But you CAN put it on a carry-on, as long as you have the safety cover (the pink case it comes in!).

Something else to know is that you cannot bring an extra cartridge on a plane checked or carry-on. If you think it’s time for another cartridge, change it before your trip. In terms of actual performance, this curling iron performs as well as any other curling iron I’ve tried and doesn’t take much time to heat up! The small size takes a bit of getting used to, but it’s worth it to be able to curl my hair internationally without worrying about plugs.

I love this cordless curling iron i have had a Therma cell for quite sometime. It is perfect purse size! It gets hot quickly and the curls come out great. the cartridge lasts a decent amount of time ! Thats why i have to give this 5 stars !! HIGHLY recommend this product to a traveler, teen, pageants!!!.

This iron is very easy to use (watch a video tutorial and you’ll be all set) and creates nicely shaped beach waves. It is also very fast since the iron does the work and you’re not having to twist and twirl either the iron (clamped iron) or your hair (unclamped wand), to create your curls or waves.

However: I have coarse, thick hair and I am finding that the waves I get when I use this beachwaver really don’t have much staying power compared with my standard traditional (clamped) curling iron. I think the difference is the metal itself: my traditional iron is titanium whereas this beachwaver is ceramic.

I find I have to crank the heat level up quite a bit higher (to 410) to achieve results compared with my titanium iron, where I can get very long-lasting (easily till my next shampoo) waves at a heat setting of 390.

I’m keeping this new beachwaver anyway as it is useful for when I need to style quickly and/or if I’m wanting a looser wave look, as then I don’t mind when the curls ease out over the coarse of a day or so.

I would just suggest being aware of this especially if you have coarse and thick hair as I do. I wish the beachwaver came in a titanium option. Perhaps the pro model (which is a combo of tourmaline and ceramic) might work a bit better in this respect but of course, the price point is much higher.

This was a huge disappointment. It didn’t curl my hair very well and didn’t curl the right side at all. The curl would literally just stick out horizontally and I’ve tried several times. It also made my hair frizzy.

I’ve never had that problem with any other curling iron. I decided to keep it because I kept wanting to give it more chances. However now it constantly malfunctions and now it doesn’t work at all. Whenever I hit the button it starts to twirl but then it just shuts off mid- twirl and I know I’m not hitting any other buttons.

Disappointing considering it was not my main curling iron and I’ve barely used it. Reading some of the reviews it looks like I’m not the only one with the malfunctioning issue. I prefer my GHD way more.
