I purchased this because I really don’t like pennies, lol, so I didn’t want to put it in my piggy bank (stuff and cuddle got it at Walmart) with my other coins (you’ll find way more pennies than you will anything else) so I got this item, things you’ll need: patience of God, A screw driver that isn’t Philips (shocker), 2 triple A batteries, adding and subtracting skills, a pen and a pad to write on.

Once putting it together. You think yay, now I’ll know how many pennies (or coins) I have! You’re officially half way happy haha,You start shoving (yes shoving) your coins (in my case pennies) through the slot, and you see 0.

01 that means a penny has entered the jar, you are now fully gleaming, you enter a few more, still reading 0. 01 oh boy those reviews don’t know what theyre talking about! Shame then you read 0. 10, oh boy better punch those buttons and hold them for three seconds I gotta subtract 9, alright.

You continue until you have now grabbed a pen and pad making tally marks for every 0. 10 you see so you can fix it after you’re done cause pushing pennies isn’t want you wanna do all the live long day! I called my mom during the process she told me she turned all of hers into cookie jars years ago.

This review is for the Digital Energy Transparent Pink Coin Bank Savings Jar – Digital Coin Counter Automatically Totals up Your Savings. This coin bank is very cute and great for throwing all my REALLY annoying change that ends up on the bottom of my purse every day.

I have been looking for a solution to my change problem for a long time and wanted something that kept track of it all so I knew when it was time to cash out the big bucks at CoinStar. This is EXACTLY what I needed!The jar is approx 8 inches tall by maybe 5 inches wide.

I got the fun pink color although I did notice the seller is selling other colors too. This may be a really fun gift for a smaller child to teach them the value of money and the concept of saving. It is easy to use and takes 2 AAA batteries which are not included.

The batteries are placed under the lid and require an adult to unscrew the compartment because it is not for children to tamper with. That makes this coin bank nice and safe!The outside is thick heavy plastic and this is basically indestructible unless you drove your car over it, Lol.

The lid unscrews easily and small hands would have no trouble with it. The top LCD panel counts the coins accurately that you place in the slot. I studied it fairly carefully and saw there is a slide mechanism that allows the bank to recognize coin values.

You can also remove coins from inside and it won’t change the LCD number total at the top for you, so you have to use the +/- buttons on the top to manually change the totals. Overall this is really fun and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to empty their pockets and store their change!If you have any questions please post below and I would be happy to answer! Since this is a gift, wrapped and under a tree there is no way for me to give feedback on it’s use. At least not at the moment. But I LOVE the sturdiness and coin counter with it’s (+) and (-) signs to add to (or take from) the sturdy plastic jar for accuracy.

This is not your water-bottle plastic – it’s terrific. The bank itself holds A LOT of change. And if you wish to add bill currency (one’s, five’s etc. ) simply use the signs and manually count it in.

It will always return to the last amount it showed you so no worries about how much you’ve collected. The slot for the coins is what I find amazing and one of the biggest reasons we bought these. Each coin added to the bank slot is recognized by the slot for accurate coin currency! It’s fun! We have one by a different company given to us as a gift last Christmas and we loved it so much we decided to get every grandchild in the family one from Digital Energy! What a neat way for the children to save their money and watch the numbers grow as they do so! Basic mathematical skills will become a natural for the children and fun at the same time.

The media could not be loaded. It fits my 5 gallon bottle perfectly, there is no looseness. It takes a little bit of muscle to push the coins through. If someone don’t have really good use of fingers and hands this item is not a good purchase.

If the coin don’t go all the way through on the first attempt it will count anyway. If you have an already established 5 gallon coin bank it will take quite some time to push all the coins through. But if you’re just starting your 5 gallon bank it will be ok.

My dad drops his change into a huge bucket everyday when he gets home. It’s over 12 inches wide with an open top and the bucket was so full that it couldn’t be moved without throwing your back out. Neither of us wanted to sit and count 100 pounds of pennies nickles and dimes.

Literally 100 pounds. I got this and a few 5 gallon water jugs for him for Christmas and he loves it. When the jugs get full you just have to put a cap on it put it on it’s side and roll it out of the way.

It fits on the empty jug easily and as far as we can tell it keeps an accurate count. If you collect change this is definitely a good buy.

Was very easy to order. When I received the item and took it out of the box to try and use it there were two things I noticed. First thing was, it doesnt fit well on the bottle. Its loose. Should be made to twist on there securely.

But you have to hold it while you out coins in. Second complaint is it’s very hard to push the coins through. The actuator that tells the machine what size coin it is has a very stiff spring action to push against.

So you have to hold it with one hand on the bottle, then with the other hand you have to press the coins in one by one. It works, don’t get me wrong. But with a whole shoebox full of coins that I have to transfer to the bottle, its gonna take a while.

We got this for our 8 year old grandson to help encourage him to start saving money. At first it seemed more like a toy for him because he enjoyed watching the coins being calculated as he pushed them through the coin slot.

(That did take a few minutes of practice to make sure he did not insert the coin too fast or too slow for an accurate count!) Over time he became more excited using the money jar as he could actually visualize how much money he had collected.

We are now trying to help him patiently realize how the number of coins and the total amount of money calculated on the top of the jar relate to being able to purchase something he wants to buy! The outside of the box shows a recommendation of age 3+, but written descriptions of this product online indicated that it was best for 8+.

The 8+ is definitely a more realistic age for getting the most from this Discovery coin-counting money jar.

Incredibly unreliable. You would have to be counting in your head, on your end to ensure that it is properly calculating. I literally stopped at $0. 50 worth of pennies because I knew I couldn’t move forward.

I want it to effectively/correctly count FOR ME. not me. or US do the work, with me correcting and adjusting the total that is displayed on the device to get it back on track! Returning immediately and searching for another one that allows for more than ONE coin at a time.

Useless garbage!.

Sounds like a great idea. It does not count pennies right. It would count them many time as 10c instead of the 1c it is. Counts quarters , dimes and nickels fine. Returning it because the entire point of this is to be able to count coins accurately.

If you just need a coin jar get a plastic one that costs 98c at many walmarts.

After watching all the videos and doing all the extra educational work to try to make the best countertops possible, I am unfortunately dissatisfied with the way the product turned out. I will post a video of the process we followed shortly.

Customer service provides no customer satisfaction guarantee – they only provided me with speculative information of what we did wrong. We were told to use a flat edge of any kind – since the screed was not added to our list from Jesse.

We were told to use a 2×4, level, or anything with a flat edge – but now the speculative reason we ended up with a poor final product (in the company’s opinion), was that we did not use a long enough level surface; which is something not mentioned in the videos or the technical support phone calls we made.

I was looking forward to this part of our renovation most.

A lot of the forms I got were already separated and broken. Some had chips in them. I had to do a lot of glueing to make the forms work correctly. They still ended up leaking. With all the glueing the cement job turned out less than optimal with a few ridges I’m not super happy with.

The fiber additive did an alright job, but there was still cracking. I used the same consistency as the videos and still had quite a few issues. The regular counter top mix from quickcrete may be a better alternative still.

I have used this product for two kitchens. I like the counter forms, I am happy with all the products I have used, but wish they would also sell forms by the piece. I had some pieces left over from my first job I could use on the second job but had to buy a kit, and still I had to many of one part and not enough of the other.

Only other complaint is shipping cost seems high, and I shouldn’t be taxed on shipping.

Makes money counting easier and I have to handle fewer coins so my hands are less dirty. It can be set to stop after a requisite amount is counted in a denomination. Sometimes five pences get stuck but a screwdriver to remove the back sorts that.

It is quite noisy.
