Some aspects of this ThinkPad are good, e. g. it’s quiet as a mouse with no-to-occasional, minimal fan noise. That’s important to me. The inner workings seem ok, constrained as ever by Microsoft’s relentless march to over-engineering and unintuitive design.

However, everything else within Lenovo’s control falls far short of basic customer requirements. Here are three of of my biggest gripes: 1) Why do Lenovo persist with such a ridiculously un-professional, grease grabbing coating? I’ve since discovered there are so many complaints about this.

Within seconds of unboxing (which clearly should be a pleasurable experience, as Apple have capitalised on) every surface within touching distance becomes tainted with fingerprints that resist all reasonable attempts at cleaning.

This is totally unacceptable (especially in front of clients) and totally avoidable. I had to buy a skin after day 1 of use. Lenovo’s persistent refusal to deal with this issue is hugely arrogant. I would really appreciate a public reply from Lenovo about this issue; 2) The placement of the trackpad is nonsensical.

It’s left of centre which means that, with normal hand positioning for typing, the movement you would ordinarily expect to make for a left click persistently gives a right click instead. You have to make an exaggerated movement and lift your right hand off the natural wrist-resting position to successfully left click.

What on earth were you thinking Lenovo? Please explain. 3) I tried to buy a spare power cable just days after I bought the laptop. I went on the website, looked for accessories and found a long list of product codes that meant nothing and 95% of which were out of stock.

So I rang customer services. They told me they don’t deal with accessories and that I should ring the sales team. The number they gave me was just the generic call centre number and I was told to pick the sales team on AVR system.

The AVR system told me I couldn’t speak to the sales team, I had to order from the website. So then I rang the number for the tech team. They told me they couldn’t sell accessories either but did give me the part number to look up on the website.

I did that again, only to find the part number wasn’t recognised. I rang back and a different tech guy told me not to bother with the Lenovo products anyway, just to get buy a compatible power cable on Amazon.

So I did that but as soon as I used it I got a pop-up message on my laptop telling me the power cable wasn’t Lenovo and shouldn’t be used. So I sent it back to Amazon and started the sorry process of trying to ring Lenovo to find out what I should do.

After speaking to a further 8 different people, someone on the tech team said they had the same laptop and showed me a way to find the right power cable and this time it was in stock. He admitted that the process was overly complicated.

Again, Lenovo, what on earth are you doing? Why are the basics so hard for you? You are making it ridiculously difficult for us to give you our money. I would really appreciate you publicly replying to these three points.

The Thunderbolt cable is also the power for the laptop, which means you cannot be charging your computer and using energy hungry thunderbolt devices like the apollo x4 music recording interface, at the same time.

This is a horrible design flaw. The power should have stayed separate. Also, even though this has 1TB of memory the 16 GB are not sufficient for RAM hungry programs like Adobe Premier Pro. The touchscreen works, but it is clunky, coarse to the touch, and not as responsive/smooth as an iPhone.

So giving up performance for underdeveloped features was a lament for me as a 10 year Thinkpad repeat customer. It already crashed on me while applying luts and effects on video project. Overall, this laptop is not worth the discount price.

Thinkpad used to be top of the line for workhouse computers, and this is just a show pony. I’ll be keeping the item for writing and emails, but for recording music and video editing, this is nowhere near up to spec with the previous ThinkPads.

Let me start off by saying that this was a nice little laptop, but I did ultimately return it. The laptop itself is nice. Booted up quickly and got things running pretty easily. It was also my first introduction to Windows 11 which isn’t as bad as I initially thought it would be.

Ran some videos on YouTube, Netflix, and Disney+ without a problem, and programs like Word and Excel were working with no problem at all. Sound was decent and picture was good quality. The issue, which is really my fault and in no way an issue with the laptop, is when she was trying to play both Minecraft (Bedrock) and Roblox.

There were only a few reviews and questions on both for this laptop, so hopefully this can help out some other parents (or young adults if this laptop is for you) out. Let me start off by saying that this laptop will run and play both games.

But if your child has played either game on console or with another desktop or laptop with better specs than this one, be prepared to have them tell you how it looks a bit different and is a bit slower with movements and responses.

Minecraft runs pretty well, but runs better if you go in an adjust some of the settings. The lack in response and movement is there, but for a youngster who doesn’t know better, is definitely playable without too much of an issue.

Like I said, unless your young person has already been playing on a better system, they won’t really know too much better. The only time it slows a bit is when there is a drastic change like falls from certain heights or something where the graphics have to change and load quickly.

Roblox is a bit of a hit or miss depending on the game they are playing. I do not play the game too much, but as I understand it, there are different games within the game that are a bit more intense than others, and will ask more of your system depending on which one of the games you play.

Mostly like Minecraft, the games she plays on Roblox were doing ok, but definitely not as good as her previous laptop or her Xbox. So, like I said, more so there are no issues with the laptop itself.

It just was not able to suit exactly what she wanted and had become accustomed to. Like I said, unless this your childs first laptop and experience playing Minecraft or Roblox, I would recommend something with a bit faster processor and a bit better graphics.

Although this laptop meets the minimum specs to run both games, your kids experience will be better with a better laptop. That being said, I would definitely recommend this laptop for everyday use for things like homework, casual internet browsing, social media, and streaming some movies, shows, and videos.

Definitely made me feel better about my eventual upgrade to Windows 11 on my machine and other kids’ laptops. Overall, laptop is a great choice for the casual everyday user.

I have had this a few months and overall I like it a lot. I use it mainly to watch online videos. I run the HDMI output to my video projector. For web sites like youtube I play the videos off my Fire Stick, but some of the videos I watch are on free-speech platforms like Locals and those aren’t all available on Fire Stick.

The next thing I have been working on doing with this laptop is to see whether I can use it as a music server when I am working out. My plan was to run songs on the laptop on itunes and run the audio from the headphone jack to a bookshelf stereo.

One challenge was that my itunes library is too big to fit on the laptop’s storage. Fortunately I just discovered that you can open itunes in a way that lets you select an alternative itunes library.

So I was able to open itunes so that it is linked to my itunes library which I have on a flash drive plugged into the USB port. Looks like it works just fine. My one remaining concern is that it appears that the sound output from the headphone jack is weak and not very good fidelity.

I tried outputting it to my stereo receiver and I had to crank the volume way up and the bass and treble seem poor. Now this would appear to be a weakness not just for my particular application but in general if you want to listen to music from the laptop.

The sound quality is poor if you listen to the laptop with earbuds. I think the audio straight out of the laptop’s speakers is pretty poor also. I think the sound quality is better if you are exporting the signal from the laptop’s HDMI port, but that’s an awkward interface if you are just want the audio output and not the video.

My HP desktop PC puts out decent audio so I don’t see why they can’t make all their computers that way. Overall, though, it’s a good laptop.

I’m a college student with a home desktop computer I use for most things. I bought this laptop after my old computer broke so I could get some work done on the go on campus. It was very slow, which I expected from a laptop this cheap, but it got the job done and the battery life was surprisingly good.

What I did not expect was for it to barely last 2 months. I treated it well, never dropped it, was careful to avoid overcharging. A little over 2 months after buying it, I was using it to watch a YouTube video and the screen turned black and started occasionally flashing bright white.

I shut it down and stopped using it for a few weeks, and got it to work a couple times when I tried after that. Now it won’t turn on at all. Most of the time when I try to power it up, I get the black screen with the flashing white, sometimes I get a blue screen, sometimes just a black screen.

This is unacceptable, I strongly warn any future buyers to reconsider. I didn’t pay for a laptop to have it completely break after 2 months of light use.

Hats off to B&H for having one of these available. Mine came quickly and well packed for the trip. This machine is startlingly fast and comes to life right away. All the basics like copying large files, working in Office are a breeze.

Watching videos is a pleasure – truly an amazing screen, and the sound is quite surprising in its 3D presence. But my real purpose was photo editing in Lightroom and Photoshop and this really performs there, much quicker than my 2017 iMac with 40GB memory.

I have 32GBs on this, the Activity Monitor shows I rarely come close to needing it all but I have some video processing in mind as well. The only drawback – I am so used to having an iPad that I keep touching the screen icons and wondering why nothing happens.

I really wish Apple would rethink adding a touch screen.

Shouldn’t have waited as long as I did to try a macbook. The new M1 Pro convinced me (lifelong windows user) to try it and I’m so glad I did. This thing is plenty powerful (10core CPU/16core GPU model with 32GB RAM) for my photoshop and light video editing needs and supports all the same software I use on my desktop PC while being totally silent even under a pretty good workload.

I also do voiceover work and being able to record my audio without a noisy computer running is wonderful – I can use a condenser microphone with a very modest noise gate now. The 14″ size is very portable and comfortable to have on a lap desk on the couch.

It’s also super easy to connect to my ultrawide monitor via USB-C. There are of course very minor things with Apple’s OS that annoy me compared to windows. like why on earth can’t I cut/paste a file in the finder app.

have to copy/paste and then delete the original. But seriously, this is some fantastic hardware that I expect to last a long time.

I transitioned from windows. hated the first two weeks since everything is so different (low key still do) but the part when I do get it to work is just mind blowing. I do photography and there is this cool PS Action that uses Retouch4u and applies all the AI engines and my window laptop would take 5-7 mins for ONE image.

This joker on the other hand take 45-50 seconds. Yes less than a minute!! Same goes for Topaz suite and all their plugins. This thing just flies. I highly recommend this product. Trust me, it’s worth the price.

Pros: Great speed and very slick for all I need to do – video editing is not a problem at all. Cons: One of the keys came loose on the keyboard after about three weeks, but Dell came round to my house to fix it the very next working day, which is excellent service.

The build quality is fantastic and the keyboard and trackpad+trackpoint are all up to the standards I expect of Lenovo. The battery life is great, able to last unplugged for a full work day while listening to music or having videos on in the background while working in Word or Excel.

I have no issue with the hardware or other physical components. The reason for 4 stars relates to software. When I first received the laptop, the sound kept popping and crackling while watching videos or listing to music when on battery power.

I had to spend three days troubleshooting the issue. I finally discovered that the issue related to Power Saving settings that you cannot change unless you edit the Windows registry to make them visible.

Specifically, I had to make power settings for the Wireless Adapter visible in the Registry Editor by creating a DWORD value named attributes under a certain registry key related to power settings and set the value to 2 (hexadecimal).

I could then go into advanced power settings and change the Wireless Adapter from Balanced to Maximum Performance. This was the only thing that fixed my issue. I don’t know if this was a Lenovo issue or a Windows issue, but it nevertheless negatively affected my use of the laptop upon receiving it.

The change did not even affect battery life so I am not sure why they would limit power to the adapter. If none of that made sense and you are sensitive to sound, I would look elsewhere. If you are capable of fixing the issue in this way or can wait for new drivers, a Windows Update, or a Lenovo BIOS update, this is a fantastic little laptop perfect for professional work.

Good full-featured laptop. This is truly a workhorse laptop with great performance, excellent graphics processing, fast dist and really comfortable to use keyboard with precise track-point. The camera with privacy shutter is useful and there are ports for everything essential.

Even the Ethernet port that is barely the height of the laptop is greatly appreciated which avoids having to by addition port-adapters and dongles. The one true flaw with the L14 Gen 2 is an abysmal display.

Colors are very far from accurate which prevents using it without an external display for graphics work. With below 50% sRGB coverage, this is possibly the least accurate display on any laptop. While the unit is also dim, it does feature a very good anti-glare coating.

The frame and cover of the laptop are well-constructed and feel durable. Much more than the more expensive X1 series (which I own 3 different versions too). One notable area where the L14 could be improved in the bezel which is quite thick.

The entire laptop could either be made smaller or the screen enlarge without making the laptop bigger. There is about an extra inch, so this is not insignificant.

I like the look and the design of the device. The performance is fantastic. As a designer, I use multiple tools at the same time requiring lots of resources, and the performance is fantastic. I have the Surface Studio docked almost all day as a desktop computer but when I unplug it, the battery life holds for several hours.

Still amazed by this product. as soon as it arrived I installed all my games to test the max performance and performed way better than my desktop, it may replace it lol. My use case was: I game everyday and I fly frequently, I needed a laptop thin, light and able to handle most current games, able to control the heat well as if I play a lot and it keeps too hot it will die in few years.

This laptop addresses all these issues, I will use it as my battle station anywhere I go with the confidence that it can handle everything I throw at it. No need to have a desktop computer anymore! It’s great looking as well, definitely worth the price.

The processor, RAM, and drive are great to have at this price. The main trade offs are that the screen is pretty bad – 720p with poor brightness, contrast and viewing angles, a very low res webcam, and minimal ports.

Otherwise, you’re getting a light, nicely built, very fast laptop for general use. As a bonus, the motherboard is easily accessible – the RAM is not soldered down, and there’s even a vacant SSD slot for extra storage (disclaimer – I’ve not opened it up myself but watched videos online).

Battery life seems ok too, there are definitely longer-lasting laptop batteries out there but my use case is fairly light work stuff. I can’t speak to the longevity of this laptop as I’ve not had it long yet (couple weeks), but so far I would highly recommend it if you want to min-max your spending for good specs on a portable work/study device (surprisingly enough it runs FFXIV solidly, though with this screen and lack of discreet GPU I wouldn’t recommend it for general gaming).

The trade-offs are on the screen and I/O. If the screen didn’t have such tight viewing angles that make text sometimes uncomfortable to read, it would be a full 5/5.

I bought this fully knowing what I was purchasing, given that it was a low specced laptop. However, the bloatware that Lenovo packs into this is phenomenal, the OS is almost useless when it comes to installing new software or even trying to web browse.

Luckily, it has an extra RAM slot, up to 20Gb from reading, but I put an 8Gb stick in. Also, the hard drive it came with is a 5400rpm spinning disk, which doesn’t help the situation. Again, you can replace this with an SSD, and add an NVME drive also with the added expansion slot on the motherboard.

Taking it apart to install these extras is effortless, provided you have the right tools and know how, but since installing these extras at a low cost, it has made this computer actually pretty snappy and is fantastic for home/school use.

Would recommend reinstalling the operating system to remove the Lenovo bloat too.

Pros: After a lot of issues with our previous home budget laptops, we researched a little and decided to opt for this Lenovo model. We have so far been very impressed with its performance and usage. After putting MS office and other apps on we thought it’s performance might degrade a little, but it’s been amazing so far.

After the previous frustrations we’ve had with budget laptops, this is a dream. I’ve even hooked it up to an audio interface and made music recordings with it. Very impressed at its speed, performance and overall ability.

Well recommended thus far Cons: Not tried anything too fancy on it yet like partitioning hard drive or using vms of it so can’t tell if it will perform as well with this on it.

Got this for Thanksgiving with a great deal and have been using this constantly since receiving it about a week ago (December 22). I got the following configuration: Ryzen 7 Pro 5850U 32GB LPDDR4X 4266MHz soldered ram 256gb SSD 2560×1600 resolution 400nit anti-glare IPS screen Fingerprint reader 1080p IR camera Backlit keyboard Windows 10 home Just about everything has been amazing: this effortlessly handles everything I do on it, temperatures have been great and runs whisper quiet, and the large screen allows me to do a lot more at once than my previous 1080p ThinkPad Yoga 14 despite having a smaller screen.

The trackpad feels extremely smooth and accurate. Portability is excellent due to the small size and weight with great battery life (avg 10 hrs) with half screen brightness, keyboard lighting off, and bluetooth and wifi on, and I have no concern with peripherals due to the number and variety of ports available.

The only thing that holds this back in a major way is the redesigned keyboard and trackpad mouse buttons, which are much more shallow and feel extremely mushy and provide much less feedback than previous ThinkPad keyboards.

There’s already been lots of times where I think I’ve pressed a key, but it didn’t register, and I’ve been making a lot of typos and errors due to this, which has been heavily impacting my work flow.

The same applies to the trackpad mouse buttons, which also have less defined sloping than my previous Yoga 14 and makes it harder to tell which button I’m clicking. I heavily utilize the middle mouse button to open and close new tabs, and I’ve normal clicked instead of middle clicked mistakenly much more than I did on my older Yoga 14.

Everyone who’s tried the keyboard and trackpad buttons has felt the same, and unfortunately I’m seriously considering returning this laptop due to mainly due to the keyboard, as it would kill the portability aspect if I needed to bring an external keyboard with me wherever I go just to type accurately.

I don’t mind using an external mouse as that takes less space than a keyboard. I’ve been recommending ThinkPads to my colleagues at work who were thinking of getting new laptops, but everyone who’s tried the keyboard on this one has decided to look into other options.

If the keyboard was changed for the better or even provided a neutral benefit, this would easily be a 5/5 rating as I love everything else about this laptop, but with the heavy impact to my typing and workflow I would give this more of a 3/5 to 3.

5/5 rating. I bought this online with no way to test the new keyboard, so I would highly recommend trying out the keyboard in stores if you are able so you can see if it is a dealbreaker for you. Lenovo, if you could update the keyboard or bring it back to the classic one the ThinkPad line is known for this would be a no brainer recommendation from me.

Until then, I’d recommend everyone to try the keyboard out first before buying.

I’ll be honest right from the beginning…I’ve never been a fan of HP laptops. While their desktops have (almost always) been extremely good, their laptops have been…uh…”problematic”. As such, this review, unfortunately, will be ‘incomplete’, as it would take several more months (time I do not have in regards to submitting this review) for me to do a complete, honest, and truly informative review.

As such, I will have to base my finding on the limited amount of time I have been given to submit this review. UNBOXING, SETUP, AND INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: HP, like most companies, has greatly improved on “environmentally-friendly” packaging.

They’ve eliminated the great majority of the (unneeded & unnecessary) plastic & styrofoam, and replaced it (for the greatest part), and replaced it with cardboard…so, at least on that front, I am happy.

As for ‘setup’, there’s really not much to say. When you purchase a new computer (desktop, or laptop), the first thing you want to do after completing the “initialization” process is run ‘Windows Update’…and, not once, but many times.

The best (ok, the ONLY) recommendation I can give is to run ‘Windows Update’, installing everything it finds, then reboot the computer, and repeat the process…and, keep repeating the process until ‘Windows Update’ indicates there are no further updates.

After going through all that, my next step is to go to the manufacturer’s website, to their “Downloads” section, and search-for/install all recently-released updates (ESPECIALLY any firmware & BIOS).

Only once you have completed ALL of the above-mentioned steps can you consider the computer to have been completely “set up”. Finally, as for “initial impressions”, for the screen size, I feel the physical size of the laptop, as well as the weight, are (essentially) what they should be.

This isn’t an ‘ultrabook’, so I didn’t expect it to be “lightweight”, nor is it a full-on ‘gaming laptop’, so I didn’t expect it to be “heavy as a rock”…I expected it to weight somewhere in-between, and that’s exactly where its weight is.

I was greatly appreciative of the relatively-slim bezel along the top, and sides, of the screen…but, at the same time, I felt the bottom bezel was a bit excessive. Comparing against my other laptop (an ultrabook), the bottom bezel is no different than the top bezel (approx 1/4”), which is only double the thickness of the side bezels.

On the “plus” side, I have to give HP huge props on the sound…while the Bang & Olufsen speakers aren’t as loud as I would have liked (or hoped), they do produce better-than-expected sound (for a laptop).

Another “high point” is the laptop’s cooling system. While not a “high-end” gaming laptop, HP did put in a “high-end” gaming laptop cooling system…when I say “it blows”, I mean that in the most positive of ways.

Moving over to the CPU, the AMD Ryzen 7 6800H is on-par with the Intel Core i7-12700H. While the Intel CPU does have (slightly) better specs, benchmarks have shown them to be, essentially, equal. Switching over to a GPU comparison, the AMD Radeon RX 6650M is, essentially, equal to the Nvidia RTX 3050Ti.

The Nvidia has more cores, but the AMD has a higher clock speed (glad this laptop has the cooling system it has). In overall performance, the AMD graphics are more than powerful enough for your best “mid-tier” games, and can even run AAA games (as long as you do NOT set everything to the highest setting…your best bet is to set everything at a nice ‘midpoint’, and then test).

THE LAPTOP IN-USE: I like the colored LED-backlit keyboard…but, I do NOT like that it can only be ‘on’, or ‘off’. The least HP could have done was to have two brightness levels (three would have been even better (for comparison, my Corsair keyboard has ‘off’, and five brightness levels).

While I greatly like the 144Hz refresh rate, the 7ms response time is a bit on the “slow” side. On top of that, they could have gone with a display providing slightly higher than just 1920×1080. I’m not saying they should have gone with a 4K display (that would have greatly increased the cost/selling-price)…but, they COULD have gone with 2560×1440.

Or, better yet, 1920×1200 (ie. WUXGA), which would have eliminated a good portion of that ridiculous bottom bezel. Other than that, the laptop works. As I said near the beginning ofd this review, I am not given enough time to TRULY evaluate the laptop, so I am unable to provide accurately-informative information.

If I could update my review after 6 months (or even 4 months), I would…but, I am unable to do such, thus my “review” will, forever, be ‘incomplete’. “PROBLEMS”: As of yet, I have not run into any ‘problems’…but, based on previous experience with HP laptops, such could, eventually, show.

This is NOT to say that ‘problems’ will, eventually, show themselves. Just as certain other brands have improved the quality of their products, it is equally possible that HP has made improvements in their laptops.

I do NOT want to dissuade anyone from purchasing this laptop based on my previous experience with HP laptops…so, for those reading this, please, take anything ‘negative’ I’ve said, above, with a grain of salt, and understand that, in regards to this laptop, I could be completely wrong.

FINAL VERDICT: This is a ‘delicate’ matter…and, in what I’m about to say (along with everything I’ve said above), understand that part of what I’m about to say is based on prior experience with HP laptops.

First, in regards to the “Would you recommend this” question, I REALLY wish Best Buy would add a ‘Maybe’ option…sometimes, having only ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ as the only options isn’t “realistic”. Given the choice, my answer would have been ‘Maybe’…but, since that’s not an option, I will semi-reluctantly say ‘Yes” again, I have not had any problems with this HP Omen Gaming Laptop…and, I am NOT saying I expect to have any…but, based on prior experience with HP laptops, it won’t surprise me if any (eventually) occur.

If I were to completely ignore my prior experience with HP laptops, and base my answer on only what I’ve actually experienced with this particular laptop (in the limited amount of time I’ve had to use it so far), then, my answer would be ‘Yes’.

This is a great gaming laptop. I upgraded from a 2017 Omen 17″ with a Core i7 7700HQ and RX580 8Gb graphics. So, I knew to expect a solid, slightly more affordable competitor to an Alienware product.

This machine absolutely blows my prior laptop out of the water. I’m a pretty serious gamer, and this laptop provides a roughly equivalent experience at 1080p (90-100+ fps in AAA games) to what my desktop does in wide 1440p with an RX6750XT, which is great for cloud syncing my steam games and taking them in the living room or on the go without sacrificing much in the experience.

It has a handy keyboard button to disable the trackpad which is nice for using a controller and being able to rest your hands on the laptop without errant mouse inputs. The RX6650M appears to perform almost as well as the RX6700M in many games.

Fans can get noisy, but most higher-performance laptops are in that boat. It’s not as noisy under load as my Omen 17 was, but since that was about as loud (and hot) as a first-gen Xbox 360, it’s a low bar to pass.

I’ll say that the “screen wobble” many reviewers point out in Omen 16 reviews online has either been addressed in this latest model, or simply isn’t nearly the big deal they’ve made it out to be because I’ve barely noticed it.

I also considered the Asus ROG Strix G15 AMD Advantage Edition laptop with the RX6800M, which can sometimes be had on sale for about ~$1200 also. While that laptop ostensibly offers more performance and better battery life, it also has a slightly smaller screen, no webcam, and reportedly serious reliability concerns.

To me, sticking with HP was a no-brainer. One negative of note is that while it’s pretty nifty that this laptop is equipped with the newer Ryzen CPUs with onboard RDNA2 graphics which it can switch to for non-gaming (or battery gaming) loads, it means that about 800Mb of your RAM is allocated to it for use as VRAM, so you actually only get 15.

2Gb usable RAM. Not a huge deal, perhaps, but worth being aware of. Battery life is better than older gaming laptops (my Omen 17 got about 2 hours) at around 5-ish hours, but nothing spectacular by today’s standards.

In short, if you can manage to get this on sale below $1200 like I did, it’s well worth the purchase.

The HP Omen 16. 1” laptop does not have a garish lid logo with Demon Horns or a mythical creature with pulsing neon lights announcing to everyone at you company meeting or class room that you might not really be paying attention to a boring class or business meeting.

The logo on the lid is subtle and the normally pulsating swirling rainbow of keyboard back-lighting can be turned to plain white if you want to be in a stealthy mode. None-the-less, it’s a well optioned gaming laptop at a good price point.

I loaded Destiny 2 onto the Omen. I play Destiny frequently on an Xbox Series X. The Omen is every bit as competent to play the game as the Series X console is. FEATURES: • Clean lines and sharp defined corners are attractive.

PROS: • Excellent display with a frame rate (144 Hz) fast enough for very smooth gaming • Surprisingly good sound with Bang & Olufsen speakers and HP Audio Boost • I installed Destiny 2 which I normally play on an Xbox Series X console.

The game played every bit as good on the Omen with smooth colorful graphics and excellent frame-rate of 90-120 fps. • More than adequate cooling no matter how intense the gaming movement. Not too loud under intense demand.

CONS: • The Omen’s power requires some heavy hardware. If you don’t need a gaming or high video processing and you need portability, this might not be a good choice for you. • Lacks a book-keeping style numeric keypad.

• The on-off button is not in a place you can feel for in a dim light. It is just one of many on the top rows of keys and I sometimes had to turn a light on to find it. • Because of the higher power internals, the body is thicker than the average less powerful laptop.

• At 300 nits it’s OK in dimmer evening lighting conditions when I usually game, but in daytime lighting I find the screen a little dim. CONCLUSION: A good choice for PC gamers.

I’d been thinking about purchasing a laptop for a long time, but I was picky. I wanted something that would work well for my power-hungry Bible software and be able to stream the best VR games to my wireless headset, but also have good build quality, decent battery life, and generally be well rounded.

This is the closest I could find and so far it has worked well. I’ll organize the features by great and good enough. Great- Power: The 5800H processor and RTX 3060 provide great speed and power for VR, etc.

Screen: It is nice and big with a 16:10 ratio, small bezels, good brightness and colors (when eye care mode is off). Build Quality: Seems to be aluminum and very sturdy. Cooling: For a high-powered laptop, it doesn’t get too hot.

Size and weight Fingerprint reader Great sale prices Good Enough- Keyboard: It’s fine, but I would have preferred more key travel even if the laptop was slightly thicker. Trackpad: It’s large and works fine Webcam: It’s not awesome, but it has a webcam with a privacy shutter.

Some laptops don’t have one. Sound: It’s okay, though not good bass. Battery life is okay (5-7hrs), if you turn all the battery saving options on, turn off keyboard backlight, turn screen down to 50% brightness or less, and use it for very light work.

I wish this could be better. I feel like Lenovo could work with AMD and Nvidia to tweak drivers and software to make the battery last longer for simple browsing or media consumption. I will say I wasn’t thrilled with their customer service.

The laptop shipped a little late; they made it up to me which was nice, but I had to contact support about the issue so many times, always dealing with a different person and people never really knowing when things would happen.

Overall, I think this is a great laptop and I am very happy with it!.

Performance: this laptop finds a sweet point between performance and noise, it never gets too noisy or too hot, and the performance coming out from this well-designed machine is decent. 16p’s RTX3060 with 70watt of TDP falls behind the 130watt RTX3060 by a narrow margin(15%-20%) while being much quieter and cooler.

R7-5800H with 54watt of constant power output also unleashes productivity. Features: Great windows hello webcam and separated power button with a fingerprint sensor. Speakers are quite good except for the lack of bass.

The keyboard has short travel but strong feedback. However, the absence of an HDMI port is disappointing although its USB c port can indeed output 4k60 video through dp1. 4. Value: There are varied options for this price range, 16p is not very outstanding Reliability: grey stylish design is great, but quality control is disappointing for this price range.

Bumps are found on the back of the machine, gaps between the screen and hinges are uneven and some gaps could be found at the joints. (It’s not due to delivery, it’s just common problems, my associates who bought 16p in Singapore physical store encountered the same problem).

It doesn’t affect the function of the machine at all but you wouldn’t expect it from this price range.

Solid build, great display, decent performance. But battery life is unacceptable. At 50% brightness, with every battery-affecting setting imaginable turned off (including Fast Startup, BIOS Extreme Performance, Always-On USB, startup items, unnecessary services and installs, etc.

) and battery saver mode on, I lost 20% of charge per hour browsing on Chrome, and several more percent overnight when the laptop was turned off and unplugged. On a brand new laptop. For reference, I have an HP x360 Elitebook that can easily last 8 hours with frequent usage between Chrome and Excel, and loses 0 charge overnight.

This is a problem with several Lenovo products that Lenovo is aware of but has done nothing about and clearly won’t, which I’ve gathered from the hundreds of support posts from even before 2018 with this exact issue in multiple Lenovo laptop lines.

I won’t be purchasing another Lenovo item and will make sure none of my friends or coworkers make the same mistake I did buying from Lenovo. Oh, and also – there is a slight delay in keystrokes when typing but even worse, if you type too fast, the laptop literally fails to capture concurrent keystrokes.

Is it 1998? Do better Lenovo.
