I really like this kit. The tank itself is much lighter than I expected for an acrylic tank. It is thin, about 1/8″, and weighs little more than a kitchen mixing bowl. Nevertheless, the tank will weigh more than 40 lb when loaded with water and decorations.

Make sure you place it on a sturdy countertop or table. The decorations alone would cost half as much as this entire kit so this is a good value. It does not come with a heater. Biorb has a couple of different heaters to choose from but they are costly.

Perhaps your local aquarium expert can find another option for you. A 50 watt heater should be plenty. If your home maintains a heat of 74F or higher, you may not need a heater at all. I recommend placing the plants in the tank before adding the substrate material.

This will help hold them in place. The LED light is a huge plus. Guys have spent big bucks in the past to upgrade to this style of light in their tanks. You get one automatically. The air pump is small and very quiet.

It has its own power supply which converts your 120V to only 12V of output. I’ve been keeping fish since 1984 and here are a few things I’ve learned. : 1. Do the water changes as instructed. It is the single best thing you can do for your fish.

Biorb recommends a 50% water change every 2 weeks. This is to keep harmful ammonia, nitrates and nitrites from building up in the water from the fish’s waste. 2. Clean the inside of the tank with a soft washrag when you do water changes.

This will keep your tank sparkling clean to look at and get you lots of compliments. 3. Don’t overcrowd the tank. One fish per gallon max! Your fish will be small when you buy them and they will grow.

They will double and triple in size. 4. Don’t overfeed your fish. Don’t worry if you skip a day. I know guys who only feed once a week. This will keep the tank water from becoming toxic with uneaten food.

I am so happy with this 4 gallon biOrb aquarium-it really does look quite amazing. What a great setup this was right out of the box. This aquarium included everything you will need to get your aquarium decorated and ready for fish, including water conditioner.

Once you set your aquarium up by following the simple instructions, you only need to add a few days of patience to let the water conditioner do it’s thing and the tank is ready to go. I absolutely love the look of this round aquarium and the fish seem pretty happy too.

I have no complaints with the air pump either, it works great and doesn’t make extra or annoying sounds. The only thing this set did not include is a heater. I did end up purchasing a flat 7. 5 watt submersible heater and have it in the back of my tank.

My tank is against a wall so it does not ruin the view at all. The only option for a fish that really doesn’t require a heater is a goldfish and they are not what I had in mind. It really is such a unique little aquarium.

Currently I have two guppies in my tank and the round shape of the aquarium magnifies them in certain spots which is quite fantastic to watch. It has been running for almost two weeks now and the water is still crystal clear.

This would also make a fantastic gift since everything is included for the most part. I was also very pleased when I had to reach out to customer service for some help and they replied quickly, and swiftly resolved my issue.

They recommend changing the filter every 4-8 weeks and they sell a convenient service kit which includes everything you will need. I am very pleased with this aquarium and highly recommend it.

Personally, I’m not too happy with any Aqueon products. I have a 29 gallon tank with 1 angel fish and 4 small neon tetras and the filter gets crazy dirty after a week. I’ve tried 20% water changes weekly for a lengthy amount of time and removed and cleaned the gravel, but it still gets dirty.

I’ve recently found some off brand filter cartridges that are supposed to be compatible so I will try those next time.

I upgraded my filter to the quite flow model which utilizes these filters. I like the distribution of carbon in these filters so more water gets polished. The fibers seems to break down after a use. I prefer to rinse my filters and get 1 or 2 uses out of them to help stabilize the tank microflora.

The carbon is still suitable for another use after the first run, ie needing cleaned but the fibers become saggy quickly. One other issue is the price. They are a bit pricey but overall I’m happy with them.

I got some of this a month ago and if you soak it in hot water first it softens it up and makes it super realistic. I have it In my 20 gal long community tank with my betta and tetras and they all love it.

It’s big enough to cover the entire backside of the tank, even though I have it farther to the right. They all find a way to use it and they all love it. My tetras sit in the top part and my betta sleeps In the parts that hang down.

It doesn’t stain water or shred fins, and I’m pretty picky about buying fake plants in fear that they’ll shred my bettas fins, as I’ve had issues with that in the past. If you’re looking for a fake plant that looks real then this is it.

It looks so realistic and just overall the best. I’m buying another one just to cover more of the tank.

Years ago We purchased this item at a pet store long before chewy existed. It started out in salt water tank and is now in fresh water tank has kept its color wonderfully , has virtually no odor ( toxic smell which is scary to add to your pets tank) any type of fish will love the environment it adds.

Beautiful and natural also ( not tacky and unrealistic ) if and when u see it needs cleaning soak it in white vinegar and warm water and let air dry or rub and it’s back to its beautiful green color.

Our Oscars love this grass. Thank u chewy for having this item and making it significantly cheaper than pet store for sure. We not only still have our original purchase, but a brand new beautiful addition in our tank.

Most of the common Tetras like cardinals, neons and rummy nose comes with parasites. Eventually you will see worms sticking out of them. I have tried quarantining them and dosing meds to **** the worms but nothing gives the results as good as this.

It is a little expensive but it is worth the buy. You can literally see the fish without parasites in a day or 2 tops. highly recommend.

This is supposed to help treat my fish and was recommended by another aquarist friend. Unfortunately, it did not help or hurt. I don’t really have more input. It does cloud your water and you have to use a lot for larger tanks.

Well maybe it was because of my location, but this product arrived the next day of purchasing it which shocked me! This container is usually for spotting any diseases, illness, defects, or any other thing before you put a new fish/invertebrate into your tank.

You can also stick it into the tank, and hang it in the water which is very helpful if you’re trying to do selection breeding. For example: Shrimp, Snails, or maybe even holding some babies! I find this a better bonus for when I get new animals, I stick it in my tank and see if my betta fish is aggressive towards the container, if so I know not to put those animals into my tank.

First time fish owner. Have a Betta. The fish has fin rot and losing fins. I called my local Petco. They told me to use Spring Water and Betta water with almond extract only. In addition, I should be using aquarium salt and Melafix.

I followed the directions on the bottle, removed the carbon filter and doing what I can. After the 7th day, I did the water change. However, I am still using the medicine. I am not seeing any results as quickly as the other reviewers have experienced.

Our Guppies love this product. It seems nothing bad for the water as my son almost always feeds too much and rarely gets old water off the tank. I guess our water plants and bacteria in the filters help, too.

There are always baby guppies to be found in the tank. We were using granules before but noticed the Siamese Algae Eater got bigger very fast and aggressive. After switching to this formula, smaller fish grow better.

We use this and another flake formula by Aqeon, depending on the availability. Stock up while they are cheap as prices change almost every 2 or 3 months.

Tetra invented flake food back in the 50s, and I’ve never had a problem. Yes, I’ve used it for that long. My latest purchase is eagerly accepted by my angels and tetras. It’s part of a range of foods I use in their diet.

I also like that the flakes are relatively big unlike the “dust” from some other companies. (Hear me Fluval? I love your lights, but the flakes need work).

Treat aquarium salt as you would a medicine. Freshwater fish can benefit from small, occasional doses of salt, however, as their name suggests, freshwater fish are, well, freshwater. A true freshwater fish (such as betta, gourami, corydora, etc), can deal with small amounts of salt, and the salt can be beneficial in minor fin repair, and parasite eradication, however in large, prolonged doses, aquarium salt can wreak havoc on the kidneys.

Freshwater fish do not have the ability to properly process salts, and in turn, can damage their liver and kidneys. Liken it to the human consumption of alcohol. Small doses don’t do much, but in larger doses, damages the organs, because our bodies aren’t made to consume it.

This can also be said for beneficial things, like cold medicine. Too much of a good thing can hurt! I use this product as a first line of defense, if water changes don’t suffice. It’s best to use aquarium salt in a quarantine container, so as to provide a stress-free environment for your fish to go back to.

I generally do ten minute “baths,” and one tbs per gallon. If your fish shows any signs of stress, take them out immediately, and place them in a container of tank water. Do not attempt the bath again that day.

If you want to try again the next day, half the dosage. Do not extend the time.

fits a 20-gallon tank but not tightly. I bought this lid for my hamster which I keep in a 20-gallon tank because he needs the wire screen to breathe. When given something to climb onto he did try almost nonstop to push up the lid and escape which after awhile he was able to do so.

I simply placed something somewhat heavy on top of the corner he pushed up and this was no longer an issue. Also, I don’t even mind the lid not being all that tight because it allows for incredibly easy removal and I could care less about moving something on and off a few times a day.

the wire is great for small animals that are unable to chew or damage the it due to how small the gaps are, while at the same time the gaps are large enough to let me find ways to attach and tie things such as strings or wires to hold up amenities.

This screen (combined with a screen clip on each end) is just what I needed to keep my little escape artist inside where he’ll be safe! I got a 4 week old mouse that is just too little for a wire cage! He’s now 7 weeks as of today and we’ve had no more of him playing E.

Works like it should but it does fit a little too loose, i coud easily move it from side to side with about a quarter of an inch of play. I hadbto bend the lip a bitbon all four sides to get it to fit snugly.

Even so i still keep atwo small weights at each end to mske sure my pet mouse can’t get out. This is probably overkill but i feel safer knowing its secured.

I agree with the majority of other posters here:1. Setup is very easy2. Works great, exactly like it is supposed to3. This product is very expensive for what you get – you have to purchase your own 10 gallon tank, substrate, heater, and light.

4. This is not for beginners who don’t want to learn and take the time to test water quality, appropriate plant choices, etc. That being said, you definitely should purchase a water quality testing kit that tests the pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels.

If you don’t, you will wind up wasting a lot of money with dead fish. Here is what I love the most about this product and why I give it 5 stars despite it being way overpriced:1. This is not the first aquarium I’ve had and I can tell you that the garden works way better than any other filtration system out there.

I’ve had the system set up for over three months and after testing the water consistently for weeks, with the garden fully stocked it has kept all of my water levels completely stable and exactly where they are supposed to be.

The tank water stays crystal clear and no additional filtration is needed other than the garden. 2. Although this setup is designed for a 10 gallon tank only, it is adaptable to other tank sizes if you rig it correctly.

The pump is powerful enough to where you do not need to buy an extra one. As you can see in my second photo, I upgraded my 10 gallon tank to a 25 gallon, and the powerful pump in this system works just as great!3.

It really is a great conversation piece, everyone that comes over asks about it and is interested in it. 4. I know some people will disagree with my comment here, but idc, we all have an opinion and here is mine: this garden setup makes the tank environment so stable that you never have to change the water (I’ve verified this by extensive and daily water testing).

This is the best part because I hate changing water out of a tank, it’s so messy! But it’s even worse to have a dirty tank because it’s mean to the fish. But with this system, *no* water changes are needed.

The only time I deal with the tank water is when I add water because some of it evaporates, which is natural of course. And in my case, I upgraded to a 25 gallon tank shortly after purchasing it, so additional water was added then.

But that’s it! Fully self-sustaining, or at least so far!Update: I’ve now had this system for 7 months and I still give it 5 stars. In fact, with a little rigging I upgraded the 25 gallon tank to a 75 gallon tank and I swear the little pump built for a 10 gallon keeps the 75 gallon very clean too! I’ve had the 75 gallon setup for three months :).

I’ve had this setup for about 9 months now. I’ve done aquariums for a while now and decided to work on growing food using aquaponics. I have a 10 gallon tank of guppies that I used with this setup and a 55 gallon tank with several breeds of fish.

Both are planted with live plants. You can see the earlier and later stages in my pics. My 55 gallon setup is not as pretty and clean looking as the top 10 gallon system. This is partly due to the exposure to the sun from outdoors.

The top currently has tomatoes and spinach growing. The bottom is still a working experiment. Regardless I love having this system. The only drawback is that my guppies tend to get too close to the pump and get injured from being sucked against it.

As for evaporation I’ve found that I have to replace 2 gallons of water a week in this system and 4 gallons in the beast. Overall the system is great.

I have read the multiple reviews and comments on how nitrifying bacteria in a bottle is a hoax. Being impatient and a little stubborn I gave the product a try. It was at my local Petco and the price seemed a little better than the others on the market.

Well I will report back to you that it works! I started with a pristine virgin tank nothing was used from a pre-established tank. I even ran more or a bio load than directed per the bottle. It took a week for the tank to stabilize and “fully cycle” by day 2 I was having a my nitrogen spike, and by day 3 it was going down until by day 7 it was undetectable.

I cycled a 55 gal tank, but I am planning on using this product on my 75, and 55 show tanks on the main floor. This is a good product for a good price and look forward to using this again.

First of all, I know there were reviews out there that claimed that their tank arrived cracked. Mine, however, arrived in a very strong box that was packed inside another very strong box– All intact with nary a scratch.

The unit comes complete with a filter and very cool lighting. I would have given this five stars, however, the remote for the lighting was not working because the battery was dead. Opening the latch to access the battery was difficult beyond imagination and even the guy on the YouTube video on how to change the battery on the Fluval lighting remote had a problem opening the latch to access the battery.

Once I was finally able to open the goofy latch, remove the battery, and head out to the store for a replacement battery and got the remote working, all was good. It was an ordeal though. Would I purchase this aquarium again? Absolutely.

It’s a good 15 gal tank for the money.

As a person keeping marine aquariums for years, looking at the reviews i think some folks are misunderstanding simple biology. 1. Low PH- Please remember PH changes based on oxygen and Co2 in the air.

More Co2 the lower the PH. If low PH is the concern, oxygenate the water. it been sitting in a sealed bag. 2. High Salinity – Salinity is influenced by temperature. If your water is cold the salinity will be higher.

using this stuff i have never say the salinity more than 1. 027 3. Alk – The alkalinity is much higher than natural sea water. This can be mitigated by dilution with lower alk water. Many people wonder why use this over mixing your own? Its because its natural and it has trillions of different bacteria that are beneficial to sea life.

Every time I use this stuff, It clears my water in ways that carbon cant. Im not saying use this all the time. it is expensive but its good stuff. FYI I own a 300gallon SPS reef tank. i approve.

Unlike other brands, this is a true 5 gallon bag. Yes, it is in a bag, and the benefit is once you use it, you recycle the box and discard the rest. Sure, I wish the bag were recyclable, too, and that may come at some point.

The boxes didn’t make it through shipping (they were mostly destroyed) but the flexibility of the bag allowed it to survive to my doorstep. The price was perfect, and the delivery prompt. The water requires no additional treatment for the aquarium.

Easy water change with no mess, no mixing, and no worries.

Good natural ocean water. Sure it has some phosphate in there but its minimal and required to sustain life. Using this over the LFS saltwater has big noticeable benefits. The water just seems to be more stable and balanced.

I recommend aerating the water at least 2 hrs prior to using to bring PH up.

I originally bought this to help a betta recover from a badly torn fin, and boy am I glad I did. I don’t add it straight to the aquarium water (which you can do) but rather soak all their food in it before feeding.

After a couple of days, I believe I noticed an increase in the rate at which my betta’s fin was healing, and he was noticeably more colorful. As an added bonus to fin growth, I noticed that all of my fish seemed to be more active and playful.

I can’t attest to the increased breeding claim for fish, but after a week of use a large number of my cherry shrimp were much more heavily berried than usual. Depending on the fish you have, how you use it, and how often you use it, it can be an incredibly affordable addition to your feeding regiment.

I HIGHLY, highly, highly recommend this product even if you’re just looking to add some nutrition to your fish’s diet. This review might seem shilly, but it’s a seriously useful product at a great price with few alternatives.

I have a lovely adult betta that developed very severe fin rot over the holidays. I had cut my finger badly while cooking and thought it would be okay to not change his tank for a few weeks to keep the cut clean – it was a really bad idea.

He cut himself on an ornament and his fins deteriorated to the point where they were almost completely gone, nearly 1. 5 inches of fin. I was devastated, but after a few antibiotics and making sure the water was pristine, he finally started growing his fins back! The pellets I give him are already quite dense and tend to sink if I soak them in this, but I like to soak his freeze dried bloodworms in them.

They soak nearly all of the drop up and I’m sure that he’s getting the vitamins he needs to regrow his fins. He’s never been as happy and energetic before, and he looks so beautiful! I swear his fins are longer every day.

I would 100% recommend this for any fish, but especially if they’re recovering from an injury. And don’t worry, now if I cut myself (I’m a very bad but equally stubborn cook), I drag my sister over to clean his poo.

I’ve always loved this brand for water conditioners, and you get a good amount and quality of product for such a good price. It’s worked great for my couples of goldfish, and it even helps with protecting their coat.
