Love this cold air intake! Only issue I had during installation is the clamp rings, the small ones for the throttle body and intake tube with the plastic tubing, they were to big and wouldn’t clamp down enough to make the seal between the throttle body and the rubber.
So I used the OEM ring and it worked with 0 issue. Sucking down air no problem paired with a throttle body spacer! Nice and smooth acceleration for getting on the highway.
Muh dudes. why did I wait so long to do this? Seriously, I wasn’t expecting the blast off so hard I’d be thrown into the car behind me. The instructions mentioned nothing about actual fire coming out the tail pipe and objects in front of me streaking as I hit warp speed.
Totally outruns the stormtroopers. Amazeballs! Also bonus. I now get 77MPG. Okay, but really. I’m rolling 33’s and already used a FlashCal F5 tuner. I suspect the combination of the F5 and the CAI produced a big difference when I hit the peddle.

Very easy to install, thanks to other reviews I anticipated trouble with the air temp sensor and had already put some thought into it so I put a bit of dish soap on my finger and rubbed it inside the gasket.
The sensor slipped right in place with no trouble. It was harder to get it out of the stock intake hose. I also had to remove the belt in order to get the bolt for the bracket out because of the washer being fixed onto the bolt; I might have been able to force it but Murphy’s law and I are well acquainted and I didn’t want to bugger up the threads.
Overall it was one of the easier upgrades I’ve added and I noticed an increase in gas mileage and a slight amount of pickup and throttle response.
Product is perfect for someone who does not want a snorkel but wants to improve or change up air flow. The OEM air box really chokes your engine for air. This one opens up to total flow and improves your performance at altitude.
For install on my 3. 8 V6 I had to do a little bending of the bracket to make it fit correctly but nothing too crazy.
Package arrived on time and was well protected. The install took about an hour. It would have been quicker, but the bolt that holds support brace was tough to get off the engine block. A second challenge was plugging the sensor into the new intake.
The rubber ring kept popping back into the new intake pipe. Red intake pipe land filter look great and are made well. The car seems to have more pep while driving and sounds a little more aggressive.

Had it installed a year ago. No change in performance or gas mileage. Made a cool sound on acceleration. That is until I decided to change out the filter. Opened the box and the filter was half off the intake port.
Had very little dirt in it. How long off is anyones’ guess. Reinstalled, but tightening the clamp made the bottom slip off the port. Had to make a wedge to hold it in place. The cool sound on accelerating is greatly diminished now.
I suggest anyone purchasing one of these will have to be mindful to check the fitment regularly-or listen for that loud intake noise.
Installation was kind of straightforward. The new intake doesn’t have a spot for one of the sensors/vacuum hose so keep that in mind when installing this, the new spot is on the valve cover. Also be careful when tightening the 2 ports on the intake because the part it screws into is very brittle, it broke for me and ended up using JB weld to fix it.
If you have the slightest mechanical ability and a few tools you can install this kit. That being said this one could use a little redesign. The cutting of the factory snorkel is not a huge deal but Airaid could easily just include a bolt on snorkel or redesign the air box so it accepts the stock as a bolt on without cutting it up.
I would pay extra not to have to irreversibly modify my stock box. This would also save on the half tube of silicone you will use trying to seal the joint where the air box meets the stock snorkel – the gaps are large.
Looks good and functions well after its on but takes a fair bit of time to waterproof (cure and dry) that could be avoided with an additional part or box redesign. More work than necessary from the installation end.

I received my order and found everything packaged very well. All the items arrived on time. Removal of the OEM air box went very fast. Take care not to damage the OEM air temp sensor when removing it or when installing it on the new intake system.
Install was very easy. Took me about 3 hours to complete but part of that time was spent locating needed tools. I failed to do this before starting the install. I must say I was very presently surprised with the performance improvement of my Rubicon.
I did install the Airaid Throttle Body Spacer and a Super Chips TrailDash2 computer with 87oct tune at the same time. My low end torque is now back to where it was before I installed 35s on my Jeep. Gas mileage improved 2mpg.
I do attribute my experience to the fact I installed all three items at the same time. Next, I cant wait to find a CARB (California Approved) header exhaust system and see just what this Jeep can do.

Sound is incredible, especially noticeable on the acceleration. Not enough data yet on gas mileage but will report back when I have more data. Easy install. about 1. 5 hours. Only issue was keeping grommet in when re-inserting the sensor.
Item arrived packaged very well. Instructions were pretty good and the installation was pretty easy except for the temp sensor grommet. Every time I pushed the sensor in it popped the grommet out. I was told to put a little oil on the inside of the grommet and on the O ring of the sensor.
Once I did that, some careful pushing got it in place. I also added an Air Raid throttle body spacer. This did make the tube on the cold air intake almost hit the fan shroud near the last clip that hold the coolant return line.
All in all, a pretty easy install. I am noticing better acceleration and the Jeep does not seem to be struggling to travel between 65 to 75 on the highway. It also has a nice sporty growl during acceleration.
As far as fuel saving I can not report any huge findings yet but if anything noticeable pops up I will update.

This intake has been installed on a 2011 3. 8 V6, with a standard transmission, 91 Octane fuel, and Diablosport 91 Octane tune. Came up and over Raton Pass from the north side in 4th gear and it passed everything and it just sucked in more air and up an over no TORQUE Drop, its was wanting more at crest.
It was like wild horses, this engine can do do so much more than the factory supplies with that dog of a tune. You can get a performance boost by burning 91 Octane fuel, but the mileage is still poor Where its 16 city and 19 highway,.
With just the tune and 91 octane fuel I was 21 24 mpg out on the road. Now with the cold air intake 24 to 27 with 30 being seen for wide stretches. Live in the desert with large elevation changes. This intake has added power; like I say was not disappointed, thrilled actually; Torque Drop is a thing of the past.
Easy install, though the mounting bolt for the block cannot be removed on my Jeep, I just loosened it and cut the bracket so that the hole was now a slot, slid it behind and tightened. Also slotted the upper end so that I could position it for best fit and snugged it then tightened.
Fits like a glove. Buy it you won’t be disappointed.
I was disappointed by both the MPG and the performance of my Tacoma when I first purchased it, and this thing fixes both! I went from 17 MPG on the highway to 22 by installing this. It also sounds incredible, especially with the pedal commander.
I don’t have any dyno information, but having worked on cars all my life, this upgrade seemed to produce more power than previous CAI’s. It was very easy to install and shouldn’t take more than an hour, even if you haven’t worked on cars before.
I’ve done some off-roading and the filter still looks remarkably clean, too (I live in NV and am mostly on desert trails. ) Highly recommend!.
Installed on 2019 Tacoma. Anyone with a little mechanical knowhow should be able to install themselves. Instructions can be a little vague so finding a video on YouTube will help. Took me about 1 1/2 hours.
It was a surprise just how much it changed my truck. At 3000RPM is where it seems to kick in and you can hear the change, it’s real loud when you get on the throttle. Also a noticeable improvement on MPG if you drive normal long enough lol.

Had it installed in less than 30 minutes. The filter is much bigger than I expected. The sound and throttle response is much better. Get a deep growl starting at 2,500 RPM. Shipping took about 3 weeks after I ordered it.

I know people usually talk about the sound difference with the cold air intake but I installed the Banks monster exhaust system on my jeep before the intake so it’s hard to decipher the different noises.

This is my first purchase from Banks and so far very pleased. The fit and quality look to be spot on and I assume the performance will be also. I did a lot of research and was very skeptical in even going away from the OEM setup but I was looking for something that would help aid in breathing yet filter great and be cautious of water getting in.

Don’t get me wrong, K&N make amazing products and in the right application I’m all for K&N!… But in a Jeep Wrangler with a 3. 6L V6, all you’re really getting is a nice growl under the hood and an extra MPG or two.
I’m curious to see if the CAI makes a bigger improvement in MPG when I get one for my current wrangler. I installed this in my last 2DR Wrangler on stock tires/wheels and (when I wasn’t pushing the pedal to the floor to hear the roar lol) I was able to squeeze 20.
5-21. 0mpg. I’ve now got an Unlimited on 18” aftermarket wheels wrapped in 35’s, so we’ll see! All in all, it looks nice under the hood and when you’re merging onto the interstate it sounds super sweet….
I just don’t think I would spend over double on the K&N brand again after getting the same results from the RedRock.
First, my negative aspects: the kit appeared to be a very easy install; which it should have been. Unpacking the kit and assembling the subcomponents into the larger assemblies, one of the capscrews was incorrect.
It was the wrong thread pitch, leaving me to scrounge for the correct capscrew. I was less upset that I found this out before completely disassembling my vehicle. And, to add to the negative, the fasteners are not standard fasteners.
I do not mean SAE or metric, but standard stainless fasteners. The fasteners are an aluminum blend. I found this out when I attempted to use a magnetic retriever to find the nut when it fell underneath a fluid reservoir.
These items may seem mundane, but for the money spent, there should have been no issues. The pros: minus the issues above, it is truly a simple installation. Once installed, the truck had different sound, and actually gained a little power at two separate RPM bands.
So far, the MPG seemed to have increased, but that it also dependent upon the foot and the gear.
I would like to give a 5 star for the performance it delivers. however, K&N seriously need to up their quality control. My unit came with scratches, it almost looks like they re-sprayed a return unit and sold it as new.
The paint covered the screw hole. The female screw also had paint inside, where I had to dig it out. The 3 screw part attached to the casing needs to be more flush. or K&N needs to provide a rubber sealer because after assembling it, you can see some gaps there.
I’m not sure if it will have any effect on the performance, but if it is meant to be held together, wouldn’t you want it to be sealed? Otherwise great product.

As soon as I installed my new Stectre filter, I noticed a difference on her performance. Definitely felt more power on the road. Additionally, I have a slowly seen an increase I’m in my MPG. I plan on keeping my 2015 Toyota Tundra for awhile and know this will help with gas mileage and longevity of it truck.
The shipping was prompt. Package well packed order complete. Install was 25 minutes and so simple anyone can do it. The most difficult part was aligning the rubber boots between the intake tube and the heat shield.
Loosening the clamps at the intake and rotating slightly made all the difference. So I put the engine cover back on ckeaned up my mess and hit the key. No significant change on start up. Backed out of the drive and rolled to the toll road.
I cannot begin to tell you how substantial the difference is! My Rubicon has always been cool but now it growls like a rabid tiger. The throttle response timber and pitch dramatically improved. It has more power, better throttle response and now it sounds as good as it looks.
Hands down the most cost effective improvement I have made to date. Mileage based 9n my Jeep’s computer raised 2. 3 miles per gallon. Or say 46 miles per tank. No every 7th tank is free! No brainer straight forward common sense.
Note if you are afraid to light your grill for fear of singe-ing your skirt leave the install to a pro. I am a mechanic so might not be easy for someone who is not.

I installed this in about 50 minutes. The downloaded instructions from SB were fine. The only issue I had was cutting the clip for the turbo resonator. But, once I twisted it off I was good. The video on ET says to reuse the factory bolts at a couple of places.
It was easier reusing the factory bolts. THE install was straight forward and no check engine light afterwards!! Woo WOO You can tell the difference in sound and you can feel a little peppier. But that might be me just expecting that.
ThHere is so much more space for the air to move through this device, as well. Love it. Will be installing the Turbo Blow off valve upgrade next weekend. Suppose to make a huge difference in sound and quickness.
We shall see. But for this device I highly recommended it. Even though it is steep in price, I am betting it will be worth it. Then again, if it comes down to getting another mod or this one, I may have to go with the other one, depending on what it is.
This is a nice “extra” thing to have. Not a necessity, by any means. But it does make your engine bay growl just by being there!! Will post pics as soon as I figure out where to post them.
Just installed 2 days ago. Receive 2 products, a wrangler version and then the Tacoma version. ET was able to phone home and send out a replacement in 2 days. Great job ET support! Installed on 2018 Tacoma SR5 V6.
First glance, looks great and well made. Listening to the CAI is definitely a more aggressive feel, powerful sound, and breathing beautifully. That was my biggest concern with OEM acceleration, it didn’t feel like I was able not open up the engine and get out the gate of passing without a sluggish delay.
This S&B CAI, changes all that. It’s newly install and first drive, look, feel, & sound. I love it. Great job ET! Now off to exploring the next round of ET parts in this universe. ??.
Better throttle repesponse and a little more engine noise. Power seems to be a little more linear as well. MPG has imporoved, but it’s still hot here in the South. Colder weather should only make it better when I take the plug out.
Only wish there was a ram intake option like the Tacoma version or the Stillen. Still very happy with the purchase, would recommend to anyone looking to open up their engine just a little. Side note, actually getting the bottome bolts started was pretty tough.
Box is off to the right about an inch to an inch and a half. May be the intake gasket against the originial hole for the intake on the frame.

Oh where do I start, I originally ordered a less expensive unit, it never shipped. I called Extreme Terrain and switched it to the rugged ridge unit, then they sent me the wrong one ( 4. 0l not the 2.
5l). I waited another week and finally got the correct one. However, even though it was never mounted, it was all scratched up and the heat shield tab was bent. At this point I was too annoyed to send it back and wait another week for the part ( I have already spent over a month waiting for it).
All the parts were there and it was easy to install. The heat shield is so tight that it actually rests on the A. C. lines, I will have to put some kind of rubber edging between them. The tube itself rubs against the the heat shield ( cutting the hose that goes from tube to the valve cover fixed that).
And finally the wire tie that holds the top of the heat shield broke off before even being close to tight! No problem I have tons of those. As far as performance goes, I had already installed a new MBRP exhaust and catalytic converter as well as an air raid throttle body spacer.
With the cold air intake i did not notice any sound change or improvement in performance. I will say that prior to all that, if was really careful i could get maybe 14 MPG, after all the little upgrades I was able to get 17.
5 MPG and that was driving normally! Was the intake worth it? Probably not. But it does look good under the hood. All that being said, I will note that Extreme Terrains customer service has always been easy to contact, professional and helpful! They are genuinely concerned with customer satisfaction and I have no doubt they would have exchanged the scratched up intake if I had asked, but again I was all out of patience at that point and just wanted to be done with it!.
Finish and manufacturing quality are very nice, as well as the quality of the installation hardware provided with the kit. However, the installation guide itself seemed to be written by someone who never actually installed the product, and the photos are grainy and vague.
The process itself is pretty straight forward with the only modification needed was widening out the slot in the bracket securing the air tube to the heat shield (impossible to install otherwise) No noticeable improvement in power or mileage, however this kit replaced a K&N air filter.
so I can’t provide a stock reference point. Engine seems a bit more rev happy tho.
Just received and installed my RR Intake today. Normally I prefer Rugged Ridge products but this one missed the mark. I have a 2018 Rubicon Recon Edition, and this intake was a poor fit. I have installed hundreds of cold air intake systems, and lucky for me I was able to modify this one to fit.
Not to mention you have to literately shave down the filter’s rubber grommet or crush the filter trying to install it. I’m not sure if this one simply got past quality assurance, or if this is how the product was intended.
I ordered this because of the other reviews, and I was let down. Other than the negative aspects, it does have a good sound to it under throttle.

I bought this to replace the TRD factor cold air intake system in my truck that was broken and being held together with hopes and dreams. Installations of the S&B was pretty straight forward and took me less than an hour start to finish (not including a trip to the parts store).
Build seems pretty high quality, I just had 2 minor issues. 1) Would have preferred the seal to the fender to have been a grommet style like the oem one, it does seem to seal up against it pretty well though.
2) The plastic thread in nipple for the vacuum line broke as soon as I tried to put the line on it. I did not contact customer service, just went to parts store and got a brass one for under $5 I cannot tell if there was any performance gain as i already had a CAI, however fuel economy seems to have gone up a bit.
All said, I would recommend this to anyone looking to replace their factory air intake.
You can’t add inches to a 3. 6L but this intake definitely adds a very nice growl. I wanted to get some more air to the AWE exhaust I added so I start looking for a solid CAI. This intake had the most consistent reviews and it was everything I needed.
This intake definitely pulls massive amounts of air , throttle response has improved over stock , mph has not been observed as of yet. Installation took less than an hour and was very simple when you follow the video on ET.
I’ve had my Jeep since November of 2021. I just recently put the upgraded air intake in it. Right off the back I can tell you it feels like it takes off quicker. You can also hear the turbo now which is awesome.
I’m curious to see what it will sound like with the upgraded BOV installed. I haven’t purchased that yet, but it’s on my list. It wasn’t hard to install. It was just hard to get the clamp cut to the turbo resonator.
You have to go buy some wire snips if you don’t have them.

After an inordinate amount of research, I decided the AFE intake was the way to go for my JKU. Very happy with it. It’s fairly subdued sounding until you get on it. Engine has a nice growl to it now without being obnoxious.

I received this for my birthday and was able to install it the next day in well under an hour. My only issue with the install was connecting the housing to the throttle body, but I just reversed the instructions and attracted it first to the throttle body and then to the intake tube.

I bought a cheaper intake first thinking way water the extra money…. wrong! Easy to install added horsepower better fuel mileage. While I was installing this It made since to do the throttle body spacer as well everything was out of the way. Took some time to get everything fired right but when done everything was tightly in its place.
If your state requires CARB numbers you have to go to AFE’s website and submit for the stickers I got mine in 2 days.
Made just ok not great in my opinion, has it’s pros and cons. Straps are top notch plastic molding on tube is solid not a fan on how filter connects to air box and its design. Sounds more aggressive than stock but not obnoxious.
On my beltronix G2 performance tracker showing up 10 less horsepower. 10 seconds slower 0 to 60. But tires seam to spin a little more so that could be a factor. Bought with AFE mach exhaust have not had a chance to install yet.
Will be today. With exhaust might make a bigger difference. Have ran the KandN And Valant cold air intakes also and personally think both of them are better bag for your buck at full price. Got these on sale so can’t complain still a good intake.
Not sure where others get there performance info from but mine comes from a Dyno. This intake has had the largest performance enhancement of any bolt on I can find. The Schorcher GT thing was a bust for performance, but this intake is everything I hoped for.
The sound feedback is excellent and fuel performance increase is accurate. I am extremely pleased with this product.

After much online reviews were read I settled on this cold air intake. Upon receipt the product looked very well built. All parts and clear installation instructions in box. Installation was easy and quick.
I performed a test drive immediately after installation. It definitely improved performance and had a good sound. The sluggishness of the 3. 8L engine was gone. Running on the highway I did see an improvement of between 1 to 1.
This cold air intake has definitely improved my 2010 Wrangler JK for sure! It sounds SO MUCH better under the hood AND it has improved the Jeep’s ‘get up’ 10/10 would recommend. I don’t consider myself super knowledgeable when it comes to cars, BUT I was able to install this with ease.

The install took no time at all since I already had the old air intake removed. If you do the same thing like I did hang on to the airflow sensor. This doesn’t come with a new one. The box fit is a little loose for my liking, It doesn’t grab and snap into place were the factory unit sat.
Decent build and nice concept overall I think. This is pre-fitted for a snorkel if you plan on that. I did not.
