Chukka boots are a type of ankle-high boot that was traditionally worn by desert nomads and British soldiers in the Western Desert Campaign during World War II. The boots are usually made from soft leather or suede and have a flexible rubber sole.
THE SCOUT – The chukka for a new generation! Blending classic British style with our own American aesthetic to be more durable and versatile, this lace-up boot can live up to the demands of long days year-round.
Easy to dress up or down, this boot is as versatile as the man who wears it. Comfort, Durability, Versatility & Honest Pricing. Thursday was built out of our own frustration. Clunky work boots or delicate fashion boots? Cheap shoes that fall apart after a few wears, or shoes that were incredibly overpriced? There had to be another option.
I really like these boots – they’re dressy enough for the office, very comfortable, good heel height, sturdy and will take a good polish. I highly recommend this boot! My one recommendation to Thursday boots – 3 eyelets would be better than 2 on each side of the tongue.
I find I need to re-tie the laces to keep them secure and I think 3 eyelet holes would secure the foot better. I wear a size 10 shoe and ordered the same size in the Scout and Cadet. I would have been better off ordering a size 9.
5 in the Scout; the 10 works better in the Cadet boots. I suspect it’s the plain toe design as opposed to the cap toe that makes the difference and possibly the toe shape. By the way, these boots are taller than the Cadet 5-eyelt boots I purchased at the same time! I really like the Scout design and I can confirm they’re very comfortable and stylish.
After months of research, I was so looking forward to what I thought would be the first of numerous Thursday boots. WOW! Was I ever mistaken. What I got was a completely unwearable pair of what only looked like boots.
These rock hard washed out items should never have been sent out. Furthermore, the excuse for customer service and they great lengths I had to go through just to finally get addressed has been appalling.
Even then, I have just once again been asked to jump through a whole series of new hoops in order to possibly get a simple refund. And that was laced with more excuses and double talk than one can shake a stick at.
And that Tadyhursday employee knows what all I have already been through. Worst purchase I have ever made in 62 1/2 years of life. The steam from my ears is only increasing.
Unfortunately, even though I ordered Wide sized boots, they are too narrow for my feet. While the heel feels a little roomy in the Wide size, my toes feel cramped in the toe box and rub against the side of the boots.
Increasing the overall size of the boot leaves too much length in the toe. For reference, I cannot wear Converse as those shoes are too narrow for my feet. If you like those, you may not have the same problem as me.
I like the quality of Thursday boots, but they just don’t fit so overall I am dissatisfied. I was hopeful for the Wide size, but I couldn’t even tell the difference between Wide and regular. I found the Scout boots to be even smaller and more narrow than the pair of Captains I tried.
The Red Wing Heritage Work Chukka has a ruggedly handsome lookinspired by the company’s work boot heritage. The leather upper of this men’s boot is durable, and the casual design is suitable for work or play.
A white crepe rubber Euro-traction Tred outsole keeps you steady on your feetand provides a sturdy barrier between your foot and hard ground. 1/2 size smaller than their normal size.
I bight these boots in the NYC downtown location a few years ago. The salesperson insisted that I size down and assured me (all but guaranteed) that the boots would break in properly. I must have worn them between 20 and 30 times for an extended period of time.
They were always uncomfortable and never loosened up, just too tight. I finally had to give them away I simply could never bring myself to put them on. Very disappointed in the product and salesperson.
Feel like I was duped into wasting a bunch of money. Buyer beware. If the salesperson or company advises you to size down, know that there is a chance that the boots will just never fit and always be uncomfortable.
I bought the Red Wing Heritage copper colored chukka’s, having owned only one other pair of Red Wing boots over the years. They were hiking boots, and lasted from the time I was 15 until age 40. They still had great Vibram soles, but I finally retired them and bought a pair of Vasque Sundowner’s six years ago (amazing too).
All of this said, I ordered these with high expectations, and frankly, was prepared to be disappointed. It seems we continue to face the degradation, and cheapening of iconic American brands. Not so with Red Wing it seems- these chukka boots are exactly what I hoped for, having owned them just over a month and wearing them two or three times a week.
I am a size 12 wide, and they took about 3 weeks to form perfectly to my feet. Now it is difficult to describe how comfortable they have become (like gloves?) I ordered the 12’s, and although a bit snug at first, I was patient, and now, voila.
Only time will tell how they will hold up, but with the observable strong, and careful construction- I could see having to retire them after 25 years. I’ll probably be bored of them by then. I do like them, and hope this helps someone else decide.
I’ve put off buying these boots for a couple years due to the price, which they’re well worth. After about a week and a half of wearing, the thick leather insoles are just starting to take the shape of my feet.
The sole material is very cushy and also appears to be very durable, a combination hard to find in cheaper shoes. All Goodyear welted shoes are not created equal, the welts are substantial and appear to have the ability to handle multiple resolings.
The combination of good construction and top quality leather makes these a contender to last for 20-30 years or more with proper care. I usually wear dress and casual shoes in 9d, but the toe box is pretty narrow and I ended up fitting better in the 9.
5, despite recommendations to go a half size down. The rough and tough leather in this color is really great, with lots of pull up right from the start. Scuffs rub out very easily by hand. The leather is heavily treated from new and shouldn’t need any treatment for a while.
Two minor complaints, found a couple small spots of glue on the upper near the welt, not noticeable when wearing so no problem, and the taslan laces are just boring, I put rawhide laces in right away.
For the young Urban professional who wants business attire with a little attitude. Sophisticated and fashion-forward, the Chukka Boot from Rockport’s Classic Break Collection offers a bevy of mod work-to-weekend profiles that pack enough personality to pair with either jeans or a jacket and tie.
Features Soft knitted linings that feel great against the foot EVA cushioning and heel cups conform to the shape of your foot for a more personalized fit TPR outsoles provide a durable grip.
Has the look I was going for. I’ve worn Rockport chukkas for years, and they no longer make my favorite boot. I bought this boot looking for my new favorite, however the sole is the issue for me. It is a stiff composite and the heal is not a stacked heel, it is composite as well, the sole and the heel are a single piece of composite material, therefore it is not nearly as comfortable as my previous versions of Rockport chuckkas.
I bought these to replace some less professional Chukka Rockport boots that are a bit narrow as my foot has flattened. I went with a wide and it has made a huge difference. They are breaking in nicely so far.
I typically wear a size 9 but I have four pair of Rockport shoes/boots and the all run a bit smaller at 8. 5. Time will tell buy my last pair lasted well over 5 years of heavy use and never wore out.
I bought these in the beginning of the year and really didn’t get around to wearing them until recently. I’ve worn the Essential Details for nearly three years, 5 days a week and they are perfect. I figured It’s time to reinvest into my feet and these are just terrible.
I’ve given it six different wearing occasions for 9+ hours each and I just can’t wear them. They run much larger in comparison to other Rockports and back of the upper part of the shoe just digs into your heel.
My feet just float inside of them. I recently purchased the Colden and Rugged and I’m in love with those. But these are just uncomfortable.
Knew which shoes I wanted to purchase, style. color. and size. Delivery was free, and I didn’t need it to be Amazon-quick. that’s ridiculous. Overall, very happy with the new shoes purchase. Was able to get shoes that were not at any of the following: Dick’s Sporting Goods, Working Gear, Kohl’s, Target, Men’s Warehouse, and a couple other places.
I should have let my fingers do the walking and found the Shoebacca option sooner, woulda saved time and effort. I replaced both Lugz simultaneously. The lugz Drifter Lo LX dark tan pair I previously had lasted me 8 years.
The golden wheat pair lasted me even more. The dark tan will last a bit longer and will take a tinted cream conditioner, but the golden wheat will take only a waterproofed. If you take care of them, these will last.
The heal will eventually break down and the shoe will lose its rigidity, but considering this price point, it will owe you nothing at that point.
Bought these for my wife cause lugz are the only boots that I wear and she wanted a pair. They are very comfortable and come with the memory foam inside for that extra comfort. We both love this color of the boot and its like a sweade type finish.
These are her first pair of lugz and she’s very happy with them and will be for a long time. My past experience with lugz these boots last forever. They’ve lasted longer than any other brand of shoe/boot that either her or I have worn.
Acc they aren’t that expensive either compared to how long they last. For around $70 for a pair that’s cheap when they last for years And years. Would definitely recommend these to any woman and reccomend lugz period to anyone looking for a comfortable boot that’ll last year’s.
I was looking for boots for work, but I have 2 issues. Arthritis and a Hammer Toe. I decided to give these a try. Not only is the fit good, but the toe room was more than enough for the problem with the hammer toe.
On other boots my toe would rub bad on the inside of the boot. I did remove the insert and put a different insert in, then put the original back in on top of that. Worked great. Had all day comfort at work.
Taking the popular Transform to the next level, the Transform 2. 0 is destined to be another favorite. A sucker for the unbeaten path, this chukka boot style is a little wild at heart, at home in nature and the gritty city sidewalks.
With rugged leather uppers and breathable, comfortable linings, this casual boot can be paired with denim or simple canvas pants. It has the proprietary EASE footbed which delivers additional shock absorption with each step.
Great boot, after using mink oil the leather softened up real nice. My suggestion would be to order one full size smaller, they run big. I love the boots I ordered a half size smaller but they’re still a little big in width.
Good for people with wide feet, wish I could have them custom make a more narrow version but overall good price and good product. Did not know but found out that wolverine worldwide makes the (Cat) line of footwear.
Wolverine is usually my first go to but I did like the style of these better than they had on their site.
I was reluctant to purchase these online as I sometimes have problems getting the correct fit and didn’t want to go through the return process. I tried several sizes of this boot on at a local retailer, finally settling on the proper fit in a size 11D.
Wow, are these boots comfortable! The leather is very soft and appears to be of good quality, and the sole design is impressive too. I was so impressed with these boots that I bought a second pair as a gift for my son.
Wearing these throughout the day, they are comfortable right out of the box, and are breaking in quite nicely. If anything changes, I will update this review. As of right now, I’m really loving these boots.
I love the look! Only thing I personally don’t like is that the tongue seems a bit to short. And I noticed they run on the larger size. I bought one half size smaller than I normally wear and I think i could have gone down another half size.
Okay. I had been eyeing these shoes for a few months. I really like the styling. Unfortunately, I wear a 13W and this shoe is on available in medium widths. I spoke with a Fit Specialist at DXL. It’s kinda neat to speak to a salesperson who actually works at a store.
Well, I asked the rep if the saying was true: “offering a size up gives you more width”. She replied that it can be the case. So, I decided to take a chance and man was I happy. The 14 fit really good although I probably have an extra inch of length.
I’m actually wondering if I can comfortably get into a 13M with this shoe. The leather and soles are nice. The inside of the shoe is luxurious. Shoes were packed well. The plastic sticks to the soles.
One of my shoes had a couple of spots that were easily rubbed off.
Received these as a gift near my college graduation 3 years ago. I find myself on the website 3 years later ready to purchase a 200. 00+ different pair because of how impressed I was with these. At a time where all i cared about waa nike shoes i quickly fell in love.
All i can say is ill return home from a long day at the office and my buddies will stop over and often aak why do you still have your shoes on? Ill look down at my feet and actually have to consciously remember to take them off aa they are so comfortable I often forget.
This is after 8 hours at the office. I qould buy another pair but wuth monthly protectiom from high quality leather conditioner both my black and brown leather pairs have held up very well for 3 years.
Cant wait to add wingtips to the collection! Oh and they held up through harsh new jersey winters.
I used the shoe for everyday office wear for few months. Not too much of a workload except moving around in office environment. Pros: Stylish The inside cushioning was good for first few months. Cons: a) Not durable overall.
The lace is thin and likely the first to wear out. The inside cushioning was soft but after few months there was not much of cushion to provide comfort for the heel. The outside heal also starting wearing out and traction worn out fairly quickly within 3-4 months of use.
Got to a point where it started hurting walking with the shoes and given the price and brand i was expecting the durability to last a lot longer. Overall, the shoes design and style looks good but if you are looking for more durability this may not be the right one.
Classic construction contributes to a nostalgic sensibility in the Steve Madden Harken chukka boot. Genuine leather upper with contrast stitching and lace-up front. Select styles features a fabric quarter section.
Textile liner and man-made sole. Leather upper Lace-up front Fabric quarter panels in some styles Textile liner Man-made sole.
I really like my new boots. Word of caution: I run between a 10 and 10. 5 with most shoes fitting best with the former. After receiving size 10, I had to return them (very easy drop off at a mall retail SM store) and order size 10.
5 as the 10’s were too tight with any sock choice. That said, the 10. 5’s are excellent. Definitely recommend.
I got these as a gift about 5 years ago. First off let me say that the boots are beautiful and I love them. However on the first day the threads around the outside of my right foot came undone and the leather separated from the sole.
So they went in the closet for all these years. So today I dropped them at the cobbler and I am having the rubber soles replaced with leather. They will look even better.
Purchased online. Shoe was so uncomfortable that I returned it immediately. The heel was way too narrow similar to the findings by other reviewers. Although the shoe was disappointing, the return process was very smooth.
The Sorel Men’s Madson II Chukka Boots offers the ultimate versatility, style and waterproof design to make it your favorite. These boots are made from a full grain leather that has a seam-sealed waterproof construction making it perfect for light rain situations.
These dapper chukkas bring a casual-classic look and sneaker-like comfort, plus a molded rubber traction sole that gives you great grip. The Sorel Men’s Madson II Chukka Boots will easily become a staple for every day and do!.
I purchased these boots in anticipation they would be waterproof. Unfortunately however, they are not and leak badly when worn on damp parkland grass. Sorel’s response was disappointing and, despite their claim that the boots are waterproof, I was advised they are not however suitable for use on “wet grass; only light rain”.
I’d have expected some acknowledgement that the description of these boots is misleading and the offer of replacement footwear or a refund. Disappointingly, Sorel have taken a different view and, unnecessarily, lost a previously loyal customer.
These are the coolest, comfiest boots I have ever worn. They look great, which is what attracted me in the first place, but I was very pleased to find they are also incredibly light and comfortable with soles that give you a real soft bounce as you walk.
Rain doesn’t seem to bother them at all, they look great with any colour of jeans, and as someone who is pickier about these things than I thought, these genuinely feel just perfect. Please, keep making them, because I’ll be back for more if these ever wear out.
Purchased at Greaves Sports, Glasgow, Scotland. I’ll be back!.
I am on my third pair of these boots in just two years. I am a home builder and stay on my feet all day. My work is done mostly from a computer so I am by no means rough on the boots. They last about 6-8 months wearing them on average 3 times per week.
They are waterproof until the second time you get them wet. The sole starting separating at the toe of on all 3 pairs after 9 to 10 uses. 6 months in the soles need replacing. In my opinion that is not a $200 boot.
The ONE and ONLY reason I purchased 3 pairs is because they are practically broken in out of the box. They are very comfortable and get better as you wear them. Unfortunately I will not recommend these or purchase anything else from Sorel until the overall quality improves or the price drops considerably.
A little compensation for the 3 pairs of $200, 6 month boots would be great!.
The look great and are comfortable throughout the day. I got the pair made with suede. I usually wear an 8. 5 or 9M. I got the 8. 5 since customer input indicated that they “fit true to size. ” The 8.
5 has room for longer and/or wider feet. I don’t know that there’s enough room to go down a half-size. If you can, try them on if your near enough to a store that sells them before you make your decision on size.
I use inserts for pronation anyway, but they make the fit nearly perfect. They are otherwise of good quality. I live in NYC and walk several miles each day so there is some wear and tear, but they’ve held up pretty well.
Last month, I went with my husband in store to find a new shoe for his Christmas dinner outfit. He wanted something more elevated than he had in his closet, a darker shoe color but not black, comfortable, and something that didn’t feel like his heel was sliding out.
He only docks one star because he finds he needs to wear thick socks to get the right fit. He has a wide foot and finding a true fit can be tough. Other than needing to fill some space round the foot, he finds the shoe very comfortable and easy to pair with many outfits.
Without breaking in the bottoms, he was able to walk on light snow without any slipping. He would recommend.
Bought this pair online, after I tried them on while I was in another State for work. I still had some rewards to spent, so these shoes were a steal. Only downside was that one of the shoe laces was missing, and We’re not available at the store.
The store gave me a dark brown set, but I needed taupe. Had to order laces online. The shoes are comfortable, and light, love wearing them. Thinking of getting another pair.
The boots are great, but I damaged the leather inside of one of them trying to remove the big, sticky, segmented Nordstrom sticker you put inside each of them! Wouldn’t it make more sense to put the giant sticker (which is a huge pain to remove from inside) on the BOTTOM of the shoe?.
The boots were purchased for my son. I ordered a size 12 but they are too large and too wide. My son has very narrow feet and he has a very difficult time finding narrow shoes. He will wear thick socks to wear.
The Cole Haan Original Grand Chukka Boot is clean and sophisticated with an easy work to weekend design. This modern 3-eyelet chukka is cushioned with GRAND OS technology for the ultimate in comfort, flexibility, and lightness of weight.
Chukka boot in leather uppers EVA midsole with rubber outsole Cushioned with GRAND OS technology for the ultimate in comfort, flexibility and lightness of weight.
These shoes are exactly what I had hoped for. Very comfortable soles and the leather supporting the foot. This is my 4th or 5th pair of Cole Haan. Size: Normally I wear a size 10. These run just 1/2 size large.
I was never really a fan of chukka boots. I owned a pair of chukka boots of a different brand before and they were just “okay”. I was at DSW and these chukka boots just stood out among the rest of the boots on display.
I tried them on and was blown away on how comfortable they were. I couldn’t believe it. It’s a simple design, great quality, super comfortable boot. I’m going to order the brown ones.
Cole Haan shoes and boots for my husband have yet to disappoint, and the Grand Chukka Boots are no exception. He says they fit true to size and felt comfortable from the get go. Worth the money to have good arch and heel support, all without giving up style points.
The cognac color is classic and the boots look equally good with jeans or chinos.
The Red Wing Heritage 3322 is a chukka featuring Copper Rough & Tough leather, crafted with traditional Red Wing Quality, and inspired by tried-and-true chukka silhouettes. The Weekender is an off-the-clock shoe that can stand up to adventure while still keeping things dialed down.
The oxford and chukka styles were designed from the ground up to be light and comfortable right out of the box, with or without socks. But light doesn’t mean the Weekenders are lightweights. They’re made alongside our other boots at Plant 2 in Red Wing, Minnesota, with durable leather sourced from our S.
B. Foot Tanning Company and a stitch-down construction that can be resoled for many years of faithful service. Weekenders let you play as hard as you work. You might even be tempted to keep them on come Monday.
Had these for about a year or more, I find myself wearing more than sneakers or other boots I own. My first pair of boots I actually don’t mind caring for. I wear a 14 EE, but the 13 in these are a perfect fit.
Guess they run a little big. If I had anything to gripe over it would be the fact the sole started to separate after a few months. To to a repair shop and it’s been fine since. Getting a second pair just in case the discontinue these.
Everyone is different but for some reason these things fit like a glove on me.
My dad got me these shoes as a highschool graduation gift, and I have really grown to like them. We went in store, where an employee helped size the boots for my feet. I am a size 9 for sneakers, and was sized down to a 7.
5. I was skeptical at first, and remained that way for a few weeks, but after shaping to my feet, they’re starting to really feel great. Quality is amazing, and I love the way the leather looks as scuffs mark them up.
I would definitely recommend! Definitely beginning to look for another pair of Redwings!.
So I have horrible ankles, had ankle reconstruction, bad plantar fasciitis, I’m basically a hobbling train wreck. Wear Hoka’s regularly. These Chukkas are just as comfortable if not more. Look great, feel great, probably gonna have to buy another pair in darker color when available.
No break in period needed, felt great right out the box. They definitely run large, buy a size down if ordering online.
From car campers to global nomads to minimalist travelers, Danner created the lightweight and packable Pilgrim Chukka for adventure seekers of all kinds. The boots are made of soft and comfortable leather, with a leather-lined footbed that wicks moisture and resists odor.
From the airport arrivals terminal to the local farmer’s market, every step is cushioned by a thick PU midsole. The interlocking outsoles help the boots fit neatly into your backpack or suitcase for space-saving efficiency.
If your looking for something that’s fits style, but also gives you a professional look. These are it. I absolutely love them so much. I’m not a big boot guy because most boots are very bulky and I prefer very low top shoes.
But while working in the industry I work in its very common for me to be in someone’s home and in their land in the matter or minutes. Those I wouldn’t recommend these boots for anything rugged or anywhere near water, I do recommend them to someone who is maybe trying boots out and don’t know the right way to go.
I’ve owned these for about a month and wanted to wait to write a review because I’ve seen some negative reviews on here. I don’t have anything negative at all to say. They’re extremely comfortable, well out together, they are unique, the sole has a look I haven’t seen on any other boot, and the leather is refined giving it a very soft feel.
When these wear out, I will be buying another pair. I have Danner snake boots for hunting and Danner boots for everyday wear, but these by far are my favorite.
I love these so much I ordered three pairs! They are the perfect minimalist boot. The over-ankle style keeps out grass seed and gravel, etc. The leather is soft as moccasins. I got them for the functionality, but they are apparently good looking which is a bonus! I have worn them about 4 months and have had around 10 people ask about them, which is more than any other shoes I’ve ever worn combined haha.
My only complaint is that the dye in the original footbeds stained my socks. But, a new footbed is an easy fix. When I brought it to Danner’s attention they shipped replacement footbeds right away (and for all I know they may have changed footbeds in all new pairs by now).
Bottom line is these are a near perfect daily boot/shoe, and Dinner gets an A+ for customer service.
By far, my favorite pair of Danner’s. Currently, own a total of six different pair of Danner shoes/boots, and I purchased another pair of these to have as a backup. These shoes are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned.
They fit well, did not need a break-in period, look amazing, they love hitting the city streets, and I always notice others checking them out. Do not think twice about your purchase of these great shoes.
The only thing you can ever regret is not buying them.
I’ve had these for a few months now and they are my go-to boot more than any other. I even match my clothes to the boots so I can wear them more often. Sturdily made, these feel like they pass the universal test of a man’s footwear: be able to run and stomp out a fire (if your shoes can’t do either, put them back).
I can wear these all day no problem and walk all over the city with no pain. Plus I think they look great!.
I bought two pair (black & brown) a month ago from the Clarks Outlet store. The black was in stock and the brown they shipped to me. Very, very comfortable boot. The round toe adds to the comfort your feet feel snug but not cramped.
Excellent construction, soft leather uppers, perfect size and fit, comfortable and supportive for long days on feet…and they look good. I will buy again when or if these wear out. They look better the more I wear them.
Simplify your wardrobe with a boot you can wear everywhere –– work, weekend, wherever. The Everyday Chukka is crafted from just ten pieces, making this minimalist boot as easy to wear as it is to style.
For ultimate softness, these ankle boots are made with super-smooth WorryFree leather or nubuck. Plus, each lace up boot has a contoured footbed with our Bounce Eco technology for comfy cushioning and extra energy return with every step.
Bought expensive shoes for my son and they cut into his heels. Found these as a friend had just bought a pair. My son loves them and I bought 2 more in different colors for him. Great shoe, comfortable, loving the fact that he is now able to wear these shoe and no breaking in needed.
I’ve received a few compliments, they are not my most stylish shoe, however, they are sleek, incredibly light, warm, they pair with a lot of outfits easily, and they are a great option for the fall in the Midwest, it’s hard for me to pick any other shoe to wear, you can’t go wrong having these shoes in your arsenal, especially if you are sick of the heaviness and clunk of boots.
The Nunn Bush Luxor Plain Toe Boot is a colossal shoe known for its comfort and style. Built atop a modern wedge sole; the Luxor features a subtle two-tone midsole and seam-sealed waterproof leather upper.
Never let the weather get you down with this stylish and practical boot. Nunn Bush Shoes designs shoes engineered for maximum support and comfort.
The Luxor Waterproof Plain Toe Boot have been PERFECT for the recent icy and cold weather. They are both stylish and comfortable, which keeps your feet dry and warm. You will never let the weather get you down with this stylish, but practical boot.
The comfort gel footbed even has molded EVA with Memory Foam insole to keep you exploring all day. The best part? It’s LIGHT! So it’s easy to pack for our adventures without making our suitcases overweight.
That is one of our hardest things to find, and honestly who wants to wear their winter boots on the plane?.
I have been swayed to Nunn Bush products for their fit and comfort right out of the box. I am a Chukka boot fan. My Park Falls and Quest boots were worth repurchasing, though their lifespans are limited.
This boot is ultralight, comfortable and has a distinctly different outsole. It took mink oiling well and has survived a few hikes. All signs point to YEAH!.
LOVE these shoes! They are stylish and my husband says they are the most comfortable shoes he has ever worn. My husband works in a setting which requires he be on his feet most of the day. These shoes have been an absolute game changer for him! He says his feet no longer are sore/hurt after his long days at work.
Wolverine Men’s Torrent Waterproof Chukka Boot, Olive, 10 – When the weather just won’t cooperate, let the Wolverine Torrent fight back for you. With premium waterproof leathers and a classic duck boot rubber shell, your feet stay dry throughout the day.
I ordered these boots online after spending a lot of time sifting through reviews trying to find the perfect pair for winter. I’ve been wearing these about a month and am just entering the thick of Chicago winter (it’s only January), and I’m not too happy with these.
Here’s to keeping it to the point. What’s Good: These are beautiful looking boots and they are definitely very waterproof. I’ve walked in the snow in these and they have kept my feet very dry. They’re easy to get on and off.
What’s Not Good: First thing is these boots run tight. I have narrow width size 6 feet and small calves and these boots are just TIGHT. I wouldn’t say they run small, because my toes have room and they fit the length of my foot just fine – but the width of my feet and calves feel like they are being squeezed.
It took a lot of breaking in to get them to ease up on the squeeze, but the process of that was simply uncomfortable, and they’re still tight. Second – these boots do not keep any warmth at all. Although they keep my feet dry, any time I’m outside in 25 degrees or less, my toes go numb.
And because they are tight, I can’t layer socks. My overall experience with these boots has just been discomfort. These are not winter boots – granted, the listing doesn’t necessarily claim that they are, but the reviews seemed promising for cold weather.
These would likely be best for any other time of the year where it’s not really cold, but just wet out.
These boots are the most attractive duck boots I have ever seen. They are super cute on, exactly as pictured and I REALLY wanted to keep them. BUT – they absolutely have zero sport, there is no structure to the sole.
I placed a small rock on my tile floor and stepped on it and could feel the rock through the shank of the boot. It is just rubber, with no embedded support structure. If I were in my 20’s I would have kept them because they are so attractive.
In my 50’s I value the condition of my feet too much to put them through walking any distance in unsupportive boots. Seriously, these are no more supportive than rubber rain boots that are meant to be pulled over your shoes.
Also, the zipper is barely adequate for putting the boot on, if it were an inch longer it would be useful. As it is, you have to really work to get the boots on. Having had many duck boots from the brands you think of when you think of duck boots, I have to agree that the rubber on these boots marks so much more easily than other brands – making these purely a fashion boot, and light use at that.
I bought these at full price a while ago (cognac color) and I am literally getting ready to go and buy multiples of them in every color, just on the off chance they stop making these in the future. (Especially since they are on sale right now).
They are THE MOST comfortable shoes I’ve ever had, period. And I primarily used Birkenstocks in the past. These boots have amazing arch support (I have high arches and I’m very picky about this). The sole is a great thickness, you don’t feel ANYTHING when stepping on stuff.
I fall often and the high ankle help stabilize me. I never avoid puddles now, even fairly deep ones. The zipper makes it to where I don’t have to tie my laces every time. They’re super cute no matter what I am wearing.
The traction is amazing! They aren’t hot and stuffy like some boots can get, but they keep me warm and dry in winter. They’re literally the perfect boot. I really hope the sale isn’t due to them discontinuing them.
I bought these a size too large. They are fabulous!!!!!! The leather is thick and heavy, yet soft and supple. The boots would be perfect for me in a size Nine instead of Ten, but that’s not Men’s Warehouse’s fault.
These will make a wonderful gift to a stylish man somewhere. I’ve got a couple of friends in mind who would cherish these the way a fine pair of shoes should be held in high regard. I’m going to have to order some for myself in the appropriate size.
These are made of the finest leather that feels great to the touch. What else would we expect from Men’s Warehouse?.
Liked them some much in tan that I ordered in black. The pebble grained texture and the stitching set them apart. Nice tapered shape. The vibram rubber soles adds contrast and are functional. Flexible leather and nice lining.
Good fit throughout. Ordered 1/2 size smaller than usual.
I ordered these shoes online but when they arrived, i wasn’t as impressed. They looked too dressy than what I anticipated yet I felt they weren’t dressy enough for dress-up attire. So I felt like these shoes were in limbo.
The shoes run about 1 size bigger. I took them to a local store and they had a pair that was a size smaller and they actually fit. I still ended it returning for a refund minus the shipping which sucked for me.
After this experience, I vowed never again to buy shoes online. From here on out, I need to see them physically and try them on before making a purchase.
My initial impressions of the boot are solid. It seems well-constructed, and I particularly appreciate that the pair I received has unique characteristics on the leather. The rubber soles are comfortable for a long day, and I have faith that these shoes will last a while.
My one concern is that the toe box is a little constrictive compared to alternative household brands (think Ecco and Birkenstock). This was a problem for me with another pair of Nisolo shoes (which I had to return).
On this pair, I found the toe area slightly too narrow for my preference, while the rest of the shoe fit well. I would keep this in mind when considering these shoes.
Unique and truly different / Beautifully designed boots. High quality at an exceptional price point, truly impressive boots. I normally wear a size 11 shoe and ordered an 11, they are true to size. The reason I did not give them 5 stars is because the color they advertised on this site is not the color you will receive, it much darker.
I sent back one pair because of the color and reordered them only to see the same darker color come back to me. They should post that colors are not representative of what you might receive.
Made of rugged water-resistant leather, these desert boots combine the toughness of work boots with the comfort and flexibility of your favorite pair of sneakers. Order regular shoe size. Size 12 1/2 wearers, please order size 13.
High-quality leather lining for smooth support. VertiGrip rubber grooved outsole for dependable traction. Leather-lined memory foam insole for all-day step-in comfort. EVA cushioning in the midsole for extra comfort.
Double-stitched full-grain leather upper is super soft and lightweight. Imported.
These are comfortable shoes. I’ve found that having boots with flat soles like these is better for reducing lower back pain compared to boots with uneven soles. I could do without the LL Bean name on them.
seems a little silly, but it’s not too visible. Overall I’m very satisfied.
I bought these shoes because I was looking for a rugged shoe, and they were in my size and on sale. They have stiff sides which come up to my ankle which I thought would limber up some with wear, but after walking in them several times, I found they cut into my ankle.
I purchased these for my son-in-law. He needed a pair of functional, as well as, comfortable work shoes. THESE FIT THE BILL!!! He was most impressed with how these boots kept his feet fresh and dry while on his IT service routes each day.
There are many different types of chukka boots for men available on the market, and it can be difficult to decide which pair is right for you. The best way to determine this is to try on a few different pairs and see which one feels the most comfortable.
You should also take into consideration the type of clothing you will be wearing with the boots and the occasion for which you will be wearing them.
