This book will help men to better understand how to live a productive Christian life. It will also help you in everyday interactions with work, family, and marriage. Wish I had read this book 10 years ago.

I have watched the movie “Courageous” (2011) from which this book is based from. The importance of this book is that it raises the awareness of the husbands responsibility of being a man, protector, teacher, godly husband and dad.

If you are interested in taking a step forward into becoming more godly in your relationships I recommend watch the movie first and then read this book. Another resource I would recommend is “Disciplines of a Godly Man” by R.

Kent Hughes. I have also found this to be a great resource in helping me to change myself so that I can become who God has called me to be in Jesus Christ. It is hard work to fight against bad habits and damaging ideologies, but well worth it if becoming a better follower of Christ.

This is an awesome book to help men step up, whether they are single or married, with or without kids at home. The authors have done a fantastic job showing how to build a marriage based on honor as well as how to raise children who are honorable.

If you have ever seen the movie “Courageous” and loved it, then this book is for you. If you haven’t seen the movie, then do! The world would be such a better place if every man read and practiced the values in this book!.

This is one of the best books on manhood that I have ever read and I have read quite a number of them. This week I start my 6th reading. Besides reading it I have used it to teach other men as well as use it for jail ministry.

There are lots of good features like how to pray for your wife and children.

I couldnt be more pleased with this Bible, in fact, it goes just about everywhere I go. 3 months ago, as a 32 y/o father of three beautiful kids, and two months after my wife kicked me out, I gave my heart to Jesus and have been all in.

This book has become a very very close friend, along with a lot of God please help me and Thank you Jesus. I dont deserve what God is doing in my heart, and the least I can do is worship him as much as Im able.

If you have a guy friend, husband, or are that guy interested in getting to know the Good News I would highly recommend this Bible. And if you find yourself running out of things to pray about theres a father (Rob), mother (Kieta), and three beautiful children, in Ohio that could really use your prayers.

Prayer is the greatest gift you can give another human and those prayers would be very much appreciated. Maybe one day Ill get the chance to thank you in person.

They included too much information in between the books of the bible interrupting the enjoyment of the reading of the bible itself. Some of the information might be helpful but they positioned it in a way that is distracting from the reading of the bible itself.

Some of the information is kind of silly and irrelevant, like for example the mentioning of some ‘jokes’ by a comedian. Overall , I feel that they included too much distracting information and placed it in the wrong places, which interrupts the reading and enjoyment of the books in the bible.

I have been looking for a large print Bible for a while that also looks decent and isn’t overly cumbersome. Since I wear contacts for distance, it makes reading close up difficult without wearing my reading glasses over them, which I often either misplace or forget to bring along.

With this Bible, I am able to read it effortlessly. This would be an amazing gift for any man in your life, for Father’s Day, or for any man that may be a new believer, etc. I love how the verses are compared to real life situations that men face every day and how the biblical characters are analyzed for their good and bad qualities.

This book grabbed my interest and gave me a deeper understanding of the lives these biblical characters led and the challenges they faced. It also made me more aware of how relationship, obedience and commitment to God opens doors in our lives which brings blessings beyond messure.

So much is in these stories that you need to read and reread to receive the full benefit. If you don’t read this book you will definitely miss out on a blessing!.

Great account of the lives and challenges of some great historical characters from God’s word. Love the descriptive insights into their character and conversations as they confronted the challenges of faith, leadership, doubts, and struggles we all face.

Well written as usual by Francine Rivers.

Our ladies’ bible study used the female version of this, Lineage of Grace last winter. We were fascinated how F. Rivers can create such moving historical fiction from stories in the bible. We look forward to starting our study with this book this month.

My copy stays by my Bible study area. I bought on for my daughter this Christmas. I wanted to see how the Disciples spread the Good News after Christ disappeared into the clouds. Each story was enlightening.

I use it over and over.

An easy, interesting read with many facts I didn’t know before. I thought it was very well written. I downloaded the ebook, but later ordered a paperback copy for my adult son. The book would be a nice gift.

Anything MacArthur writes is worth reading. Sound, Scriptural, Helpful, Encouraging. A must read for everyone and especially for men – young and old. How amazing that “twelve ordinary men” changed the world.

Simply the best study Bible. Every man should have one. The only gripe I have is the size. It’s too small to fit into a medium size Bible cover

I like the Every Man’s Bible and it came on time and in good condition, however I find the print in this edition very small and hard to read. The study notes are in a faded red that I just cannot see, and my son’s 19 year-old eyes had a problem also.

I love reading my new Bible as it has so much great content that is pertinent to men and the issues they face today.

Prior to reading through this book, I thought only the Bible & Preacher/Teacher Oswald Chambers were both compelling and understandable; now this is equal to Pastor Chamber’s writings while this can only be understood if you look up the Scripture references and so keep track not only of what Nee’s saying and intending you understand, but also whether and how he analyzes human nature to sin and the help provided by the Savior Jesus Christ through the activity and power of the Holy Spirit.

There is a powerful pathway to living the Christ-ian life contained in both the Old & New Covenants and this Nee makes plain through very careful reading, analysis and then integration of what we know from Scripture with how our daily walk sometimes in not all it promises; he fully and carefully details these and the temptations and traps every human is subject too apart from the Holy Spirit so that the fullest life and greatest joy can be had in the here and now; the strange thing is, even true in suffering whether our own or our loved ones or friends.

A totally encouraging work that takes time to read and digest for it is NOT “microwave pop-corn” that is, not quick and easy as it all true growth, even physical as one recalls turning from an adolescent into an adult, it takes time and some growth pains.

Nee is a masterful writer and poetic as well. Recommended the highest as the reader is able to give.

I read this book when I first became a Christian 40 years ago. It had a profound impact on my life as a Christian and helped me to grow quickly and maintain a strong Christian life. I’m reading it again now and it is still excellent and I am discovering how much I did not appreciate the first time I read it.

This is a must read for those who want to learn how to have the Lord help and teach them to live a victorious life.

I first bought the book back in the 1960’s but gave my three-volume set away while living in Ukraine in the mid 2000’s. Because the book is a classic and thorough treatment of man’s divine design created by God, I found it to be the most comprehensive explanation of how we were created by God and for God.

If you want to know the difference between the physical, the soulish, and the spiritual, and how understanding this will enable you to live a more consistent Christian life with fewer hills and valleys, then you need this classic.

It’s nice to have it now in a single volume. This is one of only a very few books ever written, and written so thoroughly, on this subject. Every person should have the book.

Highly recommended to all Pastors and Christian leaders. This book not only defines the problem of American Christianity being too female oriented but it at least begins to show the way toward challenging men to get with it and become a greater force in turning the tide of Christians being a declining influence in America and the West.

If pastors nation wide would read this book and take it to heart, not only would masculine involvement in church increase and real growth begin to occur again, but also more females would want to come to church as it would become a place where they could find real men.

Another benefit of Pastors reading this book would be that it would spark new ideas that are not even mentioned in the book for men to be involved in a growing church.

This seems to be a book that is passed along to alot of leadership, currently, in the Christian community. There is a hunger in the American evangelical scene for insight into gender, and David Murrow contributes nicely to the body of evangelical writing on this subject.

The chapter, “Men Seek Greatness”, is alone worth the price of the book. But one cannot swallow the book whole, in my opinion. David Murrow substantiates the title with lots of well researched data about church attendance over the years, as well as proportions of church volunteer service.

But of course, as in all reading, the need for discerning thinking comes as the writer interprets the data. The interpretation, “men hate going to church”, stands well enough. And his studies about gender are extremely valuable reading.

But there are just a few observations that don’t stand some deeper analysis. There are scores of insightful moments as well as, unfortunately, just a few simplistic ones. The balance in my mind clearly shows that I personally find this book worth owning and re-reading.

However,I would never give this book to someone to read without mentioning my reservations. I thoroughly appreciated Part 3 of the book, “Understanding Men and Masculinity”. It is a good resource to accompany such excellent books out there as Shaunti Feldhan’s popular “For Women Only: What You Need to Know About the Inner Lives of Men”.

That said, I’ll note my reservations after reading this fine book. I support the observations in the chapters on the masculine and feminine spirit, and adjusting the thermostat. But because David of the Bible, “a man after God’s own heart”, reveals so much in his Psalms about his orientation towards a LOVE RELATIONSHIP with God, and because Jesus’ crucial new command to His disciples in the book of John was to “love one another”, I challenge the author and the reader to mentally insert a huge chapter on LOVE.

how it is the ultimate masculine trait, because it includes all the masculine needs for challenge, self-sacrifice, risk, danger, courage, and tough endurance. Consider the warning to that church in the book of Revelation who had left their “first love”.

Hanging on to that in a world of temptation takes the ultimate strength, the strength of Christ alone. In conclusion — enjoy this wonderful book, but not in isolation of the principles of love and grace that are the foundation of the New Covenant.

I admire the author for contributing to the healing of the great and wonderful body of Christ, the church that has been battered by many things over the centuries, but will survive because we belong to Him.

The subject of the book is its greatest contribution. I found it very very helpful to consider this issue. His solutions are helpful as well, and every Christian leader should read this book. The references to Rick Warren’s party-style churches are a blunder though: Men are not necessarily looking for entertainment, quality and jokes (Bill Hybels has recently admitted that this model draws numbers yet it dosen’t make disciples), but Murrow is dead on regarding mens’ need for challenge and usefullness.

Women can particularly benefit. The book is well written and easy to read; more analysis is needed in this subject area. Read it, and remove the lacey flowers from your church.

Everything by Wayne Grudem is phenomenal! This is a super-condensed Systematic Theology. He explains and makes complicated doctrines easy to understand.

Easy to read and understand it’s given me a greater insight into the Bible. Deepens my beliefs. I highly recommend this book for all Christian especially new believers

Good book for introducing new converts to the doctrines of the faith.

So blessed to see that the writer of this book chose to follow God into the journey that would allow him to pen this book. At every turn I am confronted with who I am as a man with great stories that unfold before me like a fun adventure in the making.

I was given this book while going through a divorce and it inspired me and helped me understand so much about me the jungle we call life. I now enjoy this “jungle” with my eyes a little bit more open, enlightened and energized thanks to Wild at Heart.

This is the best book and DVD for self-study or group study. I have lead many of these studies for men over the years and it is amazing how much the enemy has hardened mens heart. This material helps expose our faking, our hiding, and our lack or risk taking.

As John puts it every man has a battle to fight, a beauty to win, and an adventure to live. I have seen many men come alive after this study and change from passive to lovers of God and passionate in following Christ again.

I keep buying more to give out to men I cross paths with that seem to want to take the next step to getting their heart back.

Really helped me as a new Christian studying STEM. This book has something for everyone: muslim, ex-muslim, raised Christian but never understood it/ doubting, atheist, agnostic, firmly believing Christian.

Answers so many questions that many of us is the west have, especially everyone gen x -z. Ive made my whole family read the book. Just ordered the study guide for a neighbor whose granddaughter is struggling.

thumbed through it and it looks really good. She asked how to help reach someone of my generation so I told her to read the book with the study guide. She can them ask thought provoking questions as her granddaughter reads the book.

The author was a very brilliant man. I owe this man a debt of gratitude.

Having heard of Nabeel’s conversion from Islam to Christianity, I was interested in his story. What I found was a rollercoaster of emotions, critical thinking and a story worth telling. Nabeel passed away from stomach cancer in 2017, and the version I read has poignant after words, expanded commentary and memories from his friends.

The reading of this book is certainly a journey, and to understand someone’s personal belief systems means you must seek their perspective both during and after his conversion to Christianity. I learned a lot of beautiful lessons from Nabeel’s story and coming to the end of the book was sad, as I understood the loss of a brilliant man with a huge heart for those who need Jesus.

Everyone struggles with their faith now and then, but I must say that Nabeel ( who by his nature was very inquisitive and investigative) has to have been the most discerning and determined person I’ve ever read of.

Nabeel sounds as though he had a great sense of humor, as well as being intelligent and humble. I received an advanced reader copy of the expanded third edition print of this book to review. I am looking forward to seeking out other books Nabeel wrote prior to his passing.

If you enjoyed “More Than a Carpenter” or ” The Case for Christ,” both by Josh McDowell, you will enjoy this book of one testing his faith to see what is the truth. This is a longer read, but well worth the time it takes to fully understand Nabeel’s journey.

When is the last time that you objectively considered “why?” Nabeel Qureshi departed this world for his heavenly home in 2017, but before he left, he wrote for us several books including this one that chronicles his faith journey from devout Muslim to Christianity.

His journey is methodical as he slowly sees his beloved religion crumble in the face of truth. I knew very little about Islam before reading this book. I did not understand that paradigm of his thinking.

When you read this book, you will come face-to-face with several leading apologists who dive deeply into the questions and doubts of Christianity and arrive at the truth that is given to us through the Bible.

I encourage you to know and understand why you believe what you do. Study the Scriptures as he did. Ask the hard questions. Know the truth.

Wonderfully written and so encouraging. Regardless of the stage of your journey, allow this devotional to lift you up and experience the joy of a deeper relationship with your Savior.

I am a follower of Sarah Young and have been a receiver and giver of several of her devotionals. This booklet for Lent serves a very personal journey, to hear as though our Savior was speaking right to us.

Sometimes I read scripture aloud so I really hear what the Lord is saying. this is as though he was next to me, my friend, yet my Father. He is both. and leads us by way of the Holy Spirit. Very reflective and leads me to the cross.

Extremely pleased with the all the books. However, the devotional prayers are most meaningful and impactful.

For my Book review project I read Tony Dungy’s book, Quiet Strength. I dont read that often, so when assigned a project that involved reading a book, I was not very enthused to say the least, but I felt like there was something diffrent about this book, with each page I wanted to read another, with each detail I seemed to be forced to want another.

This book chronilogicly took me through Dungy’s life in order, starting with his childhood and home life. The book vividly describes a vast amont of important moments in his life, including his time in Tampa Bay, with the buccaneers.

Ironicly the book took me throug his High School years were he played both Basketball and Football, even though his passion was solly on basketball, and then continues through his college years where he was a Big Ten quarterback at the University of Minnesota, and his three year career and switch to a defensive player in the NFL, not basketball.

I felt a very despondent section of the book was when his son commited suicide, right here in Tampa Bay, wich made Dungy, an already huge family first type of guy, even closer to his family. After reading the book it seems to make you think about your own life in diffrent ways, and what you feel is most important.

Fame and money,or family and friends? Even after puting the book down I could not help but ponder my own life, and the situatuions I have been in. Through the high’s and low’s of the book, you almost seem to be there with Dungy, living his life Constantly I compared and contrasted our two lifes.

Dungy’s words made me realize that even a famous football coach like himself, He still had a fairly normal upbringing, just like me, you and the next guy.

Those who enjoy reading biography, memoir, and sport books will love to read this book. It goes through Tony life as a Child, Teenage and parent. Throughout this book Tony goes through many obstacles.

By the conclusion of the book he shows how all his obstacles made him the man he is today. Born in Jackson, Michigan, Dungy is one of the four children of Wilbur and CleoMae Dungy, both of whom were teachers.

Wilbur taught college students while CleoMae taught High schools. Tonys parents being teachers is what help him get so far in life. Tony went on to play college football, but he would have rather play basketball.

For his college he played quarterback for his four years at college. After college Tony play for the pros for a while. After that he became coaches for many teams. He had to move allot, but while in one town he found a girl he liked.

Soon they got married and had kid. While this was going on they moved around out because he got let go and picked up again and again. Then he went on coach for the Tampa Bay Bucs. He got let go from there and got hired for the Indiana Colts.

A few years in Tonys son was found dead in his apartment in Tampa. Even with that going threw his mind he became won of the best coach in the NFL. This book has inspired me in so many way. It does not take that much effort to get something that you want.

He has show you don’t have to be forces full but kind and gentle. Even know he went through so many obstacles he managed to be one of the best coaches ever.

Quiet Strength is an excellent book, great reading , profound in expression. This book is a must read for improvement of quality of life. It’s gives great information about staying the course as a Christian, doing what’s right, allowing the LORD to lead.

Coach Dungy is an excellent role model sticking with his resolve to maintain his Christian bearing.

I am going to persevere and read the whole book but some of it I chew over and still don’t understand. There is much to mull over – I had already heard that people from different faiths see just a part of the elephant and I was fascinated with the idea that you can’t use that illustration because it means SOMEONE knows it’s an ELEPHANT and can therefore see the whole truth.

The author unpicks the arguments the sceptics put forward to discredit Christianity. I am going to read on.

Excellent book explaining why there has to be a God. Easy reading. Held my attention. Concepts were understandable.

This book provides an admirable apologetic for post-modernism. It is theological, philosophical, and empirical, and often all at once. Keller has a firm grasp on the post-modern culture of the West. His intro is a challenging foray into the skepticism that seems so prevalent at present.

He considers how knowledge can be both academic and experiential. He nicely bridges the gap between liberals and evangelicals. His treatment of doubt as an instigator of faith and not its enemy is a refreshing perspective indeed.

He addresses both the empirical concerns of modernism and the experiential desires of post-modernity well. He considers both the rationalism and irrationalism that make up the nature of faith. He answers the standard criticisms of Christianity with sensitivity and compassion.

This book was written with both believer and skeptic in mind.

I chose the audiobook for practical reasons. The book would probably work even better as a physical book, where it really is a manual, a “hand-book,” that you have “at hand,” so you can look it up and use it in your daily life.

In terms of content, the book is excellent and a real help in my life as a Christian and as a man. The content also has a freedom and some surprising qualities that I find fascinating. You should hear it several times so that it sits on your spine, not to mention in your soul.

A great heirloom piece, this book is handcrafted in beautiful brown grain leather with edges guided in opulent gold, and it can be personalized, which is what I did for my husband as a Father’s Day gift, his name embossed in a beautiful script font.

He absolutely loves it and treasures not just the outside but the beautifully written words held within, furthering and depending his passion and growth for being a godly man. We couldn’t be happier with our purchase.

Enjoy the way in which A.W. Tozer makes reference to scriptural principles in a way of telling a story. Also like how he uses the word “we,” thus including himself in his own advice. Great read!

This is a must read for any Christian. It will challenge you to pursue God / Christ on a more passionate level and with much more urgency. I would recommend you get a brand new copy, as with any book, with someone else markings, it will draw you away from your reading and studying.

Such a wonderful book – and I’m only a few pages in. Came so highly recommended and has been republished so many times I knew it had to be something special, and was not disappointed. The used book seller I purchased this from delivered it so quickly and the book was in even better condition than I anticipated, considering its age.

Max Lucado is one of my favorite writers. The chapter on grief really moved me since I lost my brother to complications of Alzheimer’s this past year. I had family who lost friends and family to Covid-19 this year so I bought 4 extra copies for them.

I love Max’s very simple, relatable, and often poetic way of spreading and teaching the Word to the world.

Everything Max writes or says touches my heart deeply. No matter which if his devotional books or inspirational books I pick up daily speak right to my heart. God bless you a max for bringing me closer to the Lord for your love and guidance.

As always, Max hits all the salient points of our life struggles, brings them to light in a relatable way, and pinpoints The Scriptures to offer hope and healing. The addition of several pages after each chapter of questions to ponder along with relevant prayers is perfect!.

“Fathered by God” by John Eldredge is an excellent read. I read it twice in a matter of days. It’s very insightful and very eye opening. Reading through it answered a lot of questions and actually encouraged me to dig deeper and try to get more understanding.

Highly recommend this book.

I bought this book for my husband and wanted to read the first few pages. couldn’t stop! This is a beautifully written book and honest view of what young boys long for. I think any wife or mom of boys should read this too! A huge blessing during Covid 19.

Tremendously helpful insights, about halfway through! Downloaded the workbook and plan to work through it with my 3 sons all in their late thirties in hopes they will do better with their kids than I did with them.

John is an excellent writer and very practical and down to earth, praise God for his wisdom shared in these pages.

I’d heard of Max Lucado and seen very positive reviews of his works, so bought this booklet. I have to say it was a great disappointment to me. The content was very light weight with no in-depth analysis.

One can’t expect much in a small booklet but what there was was curtailed by the second half of the booklet being selected Bible verses! These may prove helpful as a quick look up I suppose but their inclusion disguises the brevity of writing on the subject matter.

I found the writing style most difficult to get on with: those abrupt, short, staccato sentences just grate with me. Flowing prose is so much easier to read, especially on a difficult subject like this.

Sorry I can’t be more positive – the most disappointing book I’ve read in a while. It’ll be discarded once charity shops re-open!.

I highly recommend this wonderful little book. Its show how God uses evil for good. That God is always in control,even in dark times,these are to test us and strengthen us. We grow and give glory to God.
