A chair lift for stairs is a mechanical device that is installed on a staircase in order to assist people who have difficulty walking up or down the stairs. The chair lift typically consists of a seat that is attached to a track, and a motor that drives the seat along the track.
The chair lift can be operated manually or automatically, and can be used by people of all ages and abilities.

During installation I found that the nylon wheels that ride in the extruded aluminium track would not physically fit in one end of bottom track by the junction of the 2 tracks. Because of this, the nylon wheels were damage when I lowered the drive unit down the rail.
(Should have been more gentle when lowering) Had to remove the lower nylon wheel – that’she when I found out that the track had a too small section in it. Iran the nylon wheel up an down the track by hand a found a 2- 3″ section of the track that the wheel could not pass through.
I had to clean up the damaged spot on the wheel any way, so I turned the 2 wheels down on that side approximately. 010″ and also had to Drexel the leading edge of the lower track. Normally, I would not do anything like this, I would recommend contacting ameriglide and requesting a new track section and new wheel (because of the damage caused at my install).
Hopefully ameriglide would accommodate appropriately. I had to get it working because my father in law was coming home from the hospital and needed it. I also live 7 hours away, and was putting this together on a long weekend.
I did get it working with my mods, but then had some issues with it making consistent contact for charging. I thought I had it working and went home only to get a phone call from my in laws saying it was not charging at the bottom and beeping.
I ended up driving back down there (7 hours) to look at it. I ended up taking it all apart again and found that the pin contact in the drive unit was supposed to be spring loaded, but wasn’the because there was a burr on the hole that the pin goes through.
A quick clean up on the hole with a Drexel, re-installed, and pin functions properly. Put unit back together and everything worked great. This unit is a fine lift, but these 2 defective parts (extruded aluminum track and malfunctioning contact pin) Could have been avoided with so quick quality checks at the factory.
I hope ameriglide sees this review and checks parts better, I do think this is a nice unit for the price.
Fixing several flaws would move my rating from good to excellent. First, when the main rail pieces are cut, they need to be thoroughly filed at all of the cut edges, or step 1 of the instructions should tell the installer to do that.
Lack of that action causes the need to de-assemble/detach from mounting the rails because the rack gear will not slide completely down the rails, they get stuck at the joint in the rail due to burrs.
Very annoying. Second, the “cable gland” inside opening diameter is smaller than the width of the connectors on the wires that must pass through it! It is necessary to cut off the connectors, pass the wires though the gland, and then buy and install new ones.
An obvious design flaw. Third, the sensors for the sides of the foot step cause too many issues, constant need to jiggle them to get the lift to move. Fourth, not enough troubleshooting info for error codes shown on the display.
Calling for help is too inconvenient, not open on weekend, the only real technician is very busy and difficult to contact (but very good once you get him on the phone).
Company needs to hire someone to produce better instructions. Installation took 1 to 2 hours longer than needed simply due to poor instructions. We had to go back and forth between printed instructions and video, which were using different models.
There is no excuse for such poor printed instructions and photos. I am good at figuring things out, but if I hadn’t had my MIT-educated brother here, I could not have installed this. Even though the system is not too complex! Really, really poor instructions.
Ameriglide: You’re providing a nice price point, with the intent of allowing, even encouraging, customers to self-install. But if that’s your goal then you need to provide a better instruction manual and a better video.
Plenty of companies can produce something for you for very little money.

The AmeriGlide Rave 2 is built for durability, with a tough all-metal case construction that withstands normal wear-and-tear far better than other comparable stair lift brands. The AmeriGlide Rave 2 differs from many of our competitors’ stair lift units in that the track attaches to the stairs themselves rather than the wall, and every point of contact uses a single bracket, making installation easier.
The AmeriGlide Rave 2 is compatible with any standard 120V household power outlet, and the battery that powers the unit charges at the top or bottom of the track, providing a reserve of power that keeps your stair lift going even in the event of a power outage.
An arm-mounted operation switch is included as a standard feature, along with AmeriGlide’s standard array of safety switches that prevent the lift from operating if an obstruction blocks your path. The seat swivels at the top, away from the steps, so the rider can safely exit or enter the stair lift.
Best of all, the AmeriGlide Rave 2 lift is assembled in the USA, which means quality you can depend on. For stair lift users that want a safe, comfortable, reliable, and easy to install solution: look no further than the AmeriGlide Rave 2!.
y wife became semi handicapped with quadruple bypass and stroke. She now has full access to entire house. Our sleeping bedroom is on second floor and kitchen dining area on first floor. I installed it myself with the help of a friend in less than 4 hours.
It came with easy to assemble instructions and precut to my exact measurements.
I fell for a circular that invited us for a free steak dinner at the local Country Club to hear of the bargain of the year! The presenter was slick and as knowing as I thought I was I bought it the next day.
almost seven weeks later a couple of “Cowboy” disheveled characters showed up and proposed to leave the lift without power for me to get it done! I chased them! and found your company on the net.
If you are a little handy with tools, and have one other person to help occasionally, save the installation fee and install this yourself. Watch the utube video for the Karmer Pinnacle, which this machine is, for installation tips and download the installation manual for the Pinnacle as well.
Don’t try to use the Rave manual! It will just confuse you. Go slow, and understand how everything goes together and works before actually putting it together.
I’ve owned my unit now for 30 months and have written twice before regarding my satisfaction with the unit. This note is to say that I have encountered a lot of trouble using lithium grease (recommended in the manual) to lubricate the inside sides of the rails which encounter a lot of horizontal friction from the rollers.
Lithium grease tends to dry out quickly and create hard clumps of grease and lint, and it is a mess to clean on a regular basis. On the advice of a friend I tried a spray can of “TRI-FLOW” lubricant which has a Teflon base (PTFE), a common use is for motorcycle chains because it clings to the surfaces and doesn’t make a mess.
And it takes very little, sprayed on the inside sides of the roller tracks through the small spray tube and spread evenly with a cloth wipe. No clumps of grease and “smooth as a whistle”. I suspect other brands of chain lube with PTFE may do as well.
“Tri-Flow” is the most expensive, $12 per 6oz can but expect it will last a couple years used monthly. Rule of thumb; too little is better than too much.
The bottom line is, it does matter it this unit is installed on the hand rail side of the steps, and expecially when the steps are standard size width of “36 inches”. So just so all know the picture of the Rubex above shows a railroad track, if you have standard size steps you want that track on its side.
Discussion: I purchased the Rubex AC/DC model without extra battery for my home for when mom visits and purchased the Bruno model for my mom’s house. The Bruno model is slimmer, the track fits on its side and takes up less space in the stairwell, whereas the track for the Rubex is like a railroad track, takes up half the size of the narrow steps and you can barely walk up the steps.
Additionally you cannot install the Rubex model on the side of the steps where the bannister is because the back seat will rub the banister and incrementally bleed the seat cover in the back off. The standard width size of most home steps is 36 inches wide, same as most doors, if a wheelchair the standard width is 44 inches.
Therefore when you consider the handrail that protrudes from the wall outwardly at least two – three inches, there is no way you can install the Rubex (and maybe other models) as discussed in the Installation Guide on page 7, or as demonstrated in the You Tube videos.
These two information presentations need to be succinct and they are not when giving advice on how much to measure from the wall to the track unit. Moreover if you look at the installation demonstration in the You Tube video it is for steps that appear to be wider than 36 inches.
I’m 67 and worked on my feet most of my career so my knees suffer from bursitus when over-used. Routine daily chores also have me “running” up and down 13 steps to our basement office and shop fifteen to twenty times a day which our new Rubex now allows me to avoid.
After just two weeks my knee pain no longer wakes me up at night and regret not getting one perhaps ten years ago. I installed it myself but used an overhead ratchet cable hoist secured with clamps from above the basement door and hooked to a short chain between the two front (downhill) seat assembly bolts for back-up safety and ease of lining up the track joints and lock plates.
With just partial load on the hoist it was easy to assemble the unit in the middle of the stairway, approximate the bracket locations, and finally glide the unit in place close to the wall. I pre-drilled the lag bolt locations with a long 1/8″ drill.
A 1/4″ drive socket set on extensions was plenty enough to drive in the bolts. I attached a photo of how I used the hoist. It sure made it easy. If I make any improvements in the future it will be a switched outlet to plug it into so we can shut it off when gone from home for extended period of time.

It is the temporary, inexpensive solution to being able to get up out of my recliner after knee surgery. I looked into purchasing an electronic lift chair but it was too great an expense. This Uplift Seat Assist does what it says and serves the purpose however, it is not very comfortable for long periods of sitting.
This was really not hard to set, I even had my 74 year old mom do it, she has cancer and weighs 125 pounds just to see how easy it is. She did it easy also. Lifts me right up. Now it is not the most comfortable thing, but for the price the comfort I do get and the ease it is to set and get up I give it five stars.
Bought this for my wife as a replacement for a similar unit that broke after about 5 years use. The new chair broke in the motor assembly after 3 weeks! We are still waiting for the chair to be warranty repaired.
Mega Motion is extremely difficult to contact; their voice mail claims that it is full so you cannot leave a message (no live person ever answers). I finally contacted Pride Mobility (conveniently enough located at the same address) and conned whoever answered to transfer me to the Mega-Motion side of the building.
Talked to someone at Mega-Motion. Still waiting for repairs although I talked to the repair person today—who has to order a part and is going on vacation! Still an optimist.
I’ve purchased two of these lift chairs for both of my elderly parents. One lasted for about 4 years before it broke and the other lasted for less then two years. I bought the 5 year protection plan for one of the chairs and they replaced it With another one, after about a month of waiting.
I bought the protection plan on the replacement chair. The other chair I did not buy the protection plan, so My loss. I’m now in the process of finding another brand lift chair elsewhere that hopefully will last.
This chair is a great value for the price. It was really easy to set up and really helps me getting out of the chair. The only negative, and it’s a minor one, is that the picture shows a chair that is beige in color even though the item description says brandy.
The chair is maroon, nothing like the color in the picture. The item description also states the chair is available in other colors, that is not the case. Like I said, it’s a very minor problem and does not detract from the fact that this is a very nice chair that does exactly what it’s supposed to.

I had a bunch of questions before ordering a lift chair for my dad, and made calls to multiple companies. So glad I went with ElectricWheelchairsUSA. Their staff was patient, friendly and helpful. Special shipping request was honored and arranged easily.
Now dad has a comfy lift chair that will enable him to remain independent. Awesome!! Thank you!!.
Chair moves very slowly. Chair leans way back when foot rest is extended. Foot rest does not come up to where it is parallel with the floor. Chair back is concave and provides no support for mid-back area.
I got this recliner for my dad he has to sleep almost sitting up. He has bad knees. He simply loves his chair cuz it’s the right size the right color material and very comfortable. I was a bit concerned purchasing something on line without seeing it or trying it out.
Very happy it turned out to be a good quality chair. Great value. As I had been comparing prices for a couple of weeks. Could not decide which one to get. Delivered on time. Easy to assemble and works great.
I like the chair very much. It just needs to be a little bit larger. I also do not like using the delivery method of Fed EX. They didn’t deliver on the date that they were suppose to. And they left the Chair outside on the front porch.
I am a 88 year old Senior. Please tell me how was I suppose to get the chair into my house and up the stairs? Also how was I suppose to put it together? The chair is fine, but your delivery service was unacceptable.

I actually bought the Oasis in large. The chair is great except for the lumbar. We tried the lumbar pillow they gave us and tried removing some of the stuffing but it still was not right so her ended up using a pillow.
Other than that, the chair is the right size for him (6’2”) looks great and is very comfortable. They need to come up with a better solution for that crease. I see a lot of comments mention that too.
This powered electric lift chair features a reclining back and adjustable leg rest. Remote-controlled lift mode for sit-to-stand convenience. Includes side remote pocket. Remote control with heat, massage and intensity settings for customized comfort.
300-lb. weight capacity. 20″x21″ seat size. Microfiber upholstery. Engineered wood and metal frame. 35. 5″Lx30. 75″Dx40″H. 92 lbs.
I bought this chair online for a deal of the day price (50% off) with Free Shipping without seeing it in person. It arrived by UPS in Great Shape and if memory serves the box weighs about 119 pounds.
I put it together and honestly the assembly is very simple. You attach the back (slides down onto the base), attach the power cord, and the remote; Done. The chair works great, going up and down, the added heat, and massage are fantastic.
Here is the issue I had. I’m 5’3″ and I fit great, my other half is 6’1″ and needs head support so the person I bought it for, it doesn’t work for (Fit). So that’s why I’m saying if you have a small framed family member that needs this chair, “Buy It” because honestly it’s Fantastic.
You just can’t beat the price and features. However if for example your larger framed family member needs a lift chair, do yourself a favor and buy a larger one.
I purchased this chair for my Dad’s 90th birthday thinking it would be helpful since he is very unsteady, especially when he first stands up. The immediate complaints from my Dad in order as they came: It’s too fancy.
It does not have any head support. the mechanism operates too slowly. it’s too small. it’s too brown. I’m sure it cost too much. Oh well. All in all it is a very nice chair and the features are great, especially since this chair cost hundreds less than other on the market.
Just know you audience when purchasing for an older person. lol.
Best recliner I have ever had. Everything about it works great. Love the massage feature. Lift works wonders for my not so wonderful knees. Was on Bjs. com saw this one the price was right. Delivery was great.
Right to the door. However Saw another model lift recliner on sale and purchased that one also. Love the lift recliner. But the delivery on this one was a complete horror story.

After having to give up baths for showers, my mom was very unhappy. With a rheumatic illness that causes joint and muscle pain, she relied on warm baths to help ease her pain. Today she took a bath for the first time in months! She says she feel wonderful! She was able to transfer and operate the hand control independently, despite some moderate cognitive loss.
The side flaps on the seat provide a solid surface to transfer – they flatten against the tubs edge. The hand control battery charge lasts for 6 baths, and it recharges in about 4 hours. It has a low battery signal so you don’t get stuck, with a dead battery, in the tub.
It is made almost completely of plastic which makes it water-resistant, but that causes concern about product longevity. If I have to buy a new one every year, I will. It has made such a huge difference in how my mother feels, while preserving her privacy and dignity.
Progress Mobility is not truthful when chatting online or when talking to them on the phone. I chatted with David before ordering a bath lift on Nov. 11, 2016 for my 86 year old Mom who had recently undergone hip replacement.
I probably asked 25 or more questions to insure that I was getting exactly what she needed. The one question I failed to ask was what the return policy was. I was going by the website banner on several pages that stated 100% guarantee and 110% guarantee on price.
David stated this at least twice to me that the product was guaranteed. Then, when the product arrived and we realized that it would not work in her tub, Progress Mobility refuses to take it back because it is considered a “hygiene product”.
David had ample opportunity to tell me this during the chat session before ordering. This is deceptive and unethical! After the fact, I had to search and search the website for the return policy. It is buried in the “Terms of Service”.
Now my mother, age 86, who is on a fixed income and having health issues, is out $565. 00. If Progress Mobility has any compassion or concern for their customers, they would refund her money and take the product back.
Other than taking the bath lift out of the box and setting in the tub to determine that it didn’t fit, it has not been touched. Please do your homework before buying from this company! Multiple attempts to get a refund have failed.
I will never recommend or buy from this company. David could have stated to me that this product could not be returned. Instead, he kept assuring me that it was 100% guaranteed! I am sick at heart for my mother.
I love it. I really enjoy my bubble baths and my hip flexor muscles have greatly weakend becasue of Muscular Dystrophy. I was able to get up to get out of the bathtub. So this product is a life saver for me.

We debated a long time before purchasing this lift mostly because of the price. I needed to get away from all the pumping and I wasn’t wild about the bar that operated the legs on our manual lift. I also wanted something that would fold up for transport.
It is a great improvement over the manual lift. Delivery was quick and ran smoothly. We followed the video on Med Mart’s site for unpacking and setting up the lift. It was pretty easy. We charged the battery and the first time we went to use it nothing happened.
After checking that all the connections were tight, we tried it again and still nothing. Then my husband asked me what the big red button was for. I knew it was the emergency stop. After fiddling with that button, it disengaged and then the lift worked perfectly.
I didn’t see anywhere on the instructions where it said to disengage that button. The lift is easy to work and maneuver. I like the foot pedal that operates the width of the legs. I also use the the black release button alot to get the empty lift around corners to store it.
We have hardwood floors and only one rug. The wheels get a little hung up on the rug so I don’t think it would move that much better on rugs than the manual lift. A sling was included in the purchase.
I ordered a size large but it was way too big for my husband. Unfortunately, customer service told me it could not be exchanged since I had opened it. However, I didn’t know it was too big until I opened it!! Anyway, it works well with the sling we already had.
It’s just ashame that this sling will go to waste. Overall, I am very glad we made this purchase.
I bought this for my handicapped dad since it’s electric and supposedly easy to operate. I had my mom completely charge it before I came to visit and I was going to surprise my dad with it. Well, I got my dad lifted in the air to move him to a chair, but the lift wouldn’t go back down.
It was so embarrassing. I had to manually lower him back to the bed. He hasn’t used the lift since because he’s afraid he’ll be stuck in the air again. By the way, I’m a RN and I’ve worked with lifts before so I’m very familiar with operating them.
My mom called customer service to follow up with this issue, but said no one answered. Too expensive to break down like this ON FIRST USE not to mention no customer support. Very upset customer here.
Absolutely the boss in home hoyer’s. The video was super to follow. Ease of putting it together was simple. Works magnificent! My husband returned home after being in the hospital for over 200 days and very deconditioned.
This lift saved my back, is very safe and efficient and effective. I use it daily without any other help. It is great! Wonderful tech people from this company as well if you have added questions that the instructions or video didn’t answer.
My husband snd I love it. Added plus you can travel with it, it’s light and easy to transport.

Love, Love, Love this chair. It arrived earlier than expected too. I fell and I was really hurting in my old chair. I asked God and the Angels to help get my chair to me earlier. Ask and ye shall receive….
a lot of times we need reminding of that. Don’t forget to ask for help when needed. I’m so Grateful it’s the most comfortable chair I’ve ever sat in. I call my chair Comfy Cadi because it’s like the Cadillac of chairs.
I can’t say enough great things about it. You can set it anyway you like too. Very cushy. It is big…my mr. had to remove the sliding door and the bedroom door to get it into the bedroom. I purchased the medium/large.
I’m only 5’4” but I Love it. Got it in Hazelnut it’s beautiful. Again so very Grateful. Love & Light to all 🙌.
Well constructed chair. Has so many more features that the lift chair we rented. You can adjust to fit your own needs rather than just a recliner. The lift motors are quiet and there is a feature to save your favorite positions.
The only downside is that it does not lift up as high as the metal chair, but it is not so bad that you cannot stand up from that position. It also is really too short for someone over 6 ft. It will hit you at the ankles.
The color we chose looks great in the room. Looks like a piece of furniture and not a hospital chair.
My husband just loves the chair. He slept on a couch before because of snoring and twitching. He doesnt snore as much and sleeps better. I notice he’s napping more and more soundly. He loves all the features.
Only complaint is no place for remotes except outside chair. Maybe put small pockets on inside arms of chair. Then he won’t lay on them.
It allows you to gently stand without straining knees or back. Power motion recline extends your legs with a delicate motion. Thick bustle back and headrest. Extra thick pillow arms. Upholstered in Chocolate colored textured velvet.
Overall Product Dimension: 41″ H x 35. 5″ W x 37″ D. Seat Dimensions: 20″ H x 18″ W x 21″ D.

The AmeriGlide Rubex AC is an electric powered (household outlet) stair lift with a 300 lb. weight capacity and comes with an aluminum track up to 20′ in length. It also comes with a constant-pressure rocker control switch built into the arm, a swivel seat, call/send controls, and a magazine rack.
AmeriGlide stair lifts help you keep the mobility you’ve enjoyed for so long in your home. Consider that an AmeriGlide Stair Lift offers many benefits such as: a simple installation that can be done in under 2 hours, safety features that have been incorporated after years of studying stair lift use, reliable cable-drive lift system and hard-wired electrical components, and minimal maintenance requirements.
The instructions call for putting a book (or something like that) under the lower end of the track during the installation. With our carpeted stairs, that book (and the track) moved a bit while we were installing the unit.
If I were to do it again, I would want to put a 2×4 (cut to the proper length) in place between the far wall and the bottom end of the track, in order to keep it from shifting during the installation process.
The AmeriGlide 325M 3 Position lift chair offers a weight capacity of 325 pounds and a three position recline capability. We had just found out my husband is dying from cancer and he had this big old plush rocker recliner that he had to pull up on lever and push back with his legs to get up. He has lost a lot of strength and I told him I found a really nice power lift chair at a great price.
He said fine as long as it wasn’t as big as his old one. So I took a chance on ordering this chair. I was so surprised when it came 4 days after I ordered it and it was exactly everything I wanted it to be! My husband is actually 5’10,175 lbs, however the cancer has affected his size and weight to where the chair is just right for him and when he is gone it will also work for my 5’4 frame.
I highly recommend this chair as a great chair at an affordable price!.
My daughter recently had the Ness Procedure which has a 3 month recovery period and she is unable to use her upper body during that time. We looked at renting a lift chair – but once we found the U. S Medical Supply site we felt buying was actually a better value.
I actually called the toll free number and after speaking to Michael Noneman made our purchase. We are now 3 weeks post op and the chair has been a life saver. I can’t image how much further behind her recovery would be without this chair.
My mother-in-law is fighting her limitations so this chair is more of a sore point with her. But it works fantastic, very simple remote-only 2 directions it can go. We received it sooner than we expected only took 3-4 days from the day I ordered it! Setup was quick and easy.
For the price I paid I believe I got my money’s worth and would purchase again. A longer than 1-year warranty would make it a much better purchase.

My mother moved in with us, but sometimes has a hard time standing. We all work and go to school during the day, so we were at a loss as to making sure that she is safe during the day. This fixed everything.
I would definitely recommend this AmeriGlide 200LC lift chair to anyone. This reclining chair has made my uncle’s life more independent and has given him the confidence and independence back after his stroke.
Every time we visit him, he cannot thank us enough for the AmeriGlide lift chair and he tells us how much he enjoys the comfort and usability of this chair which has allowed him to make his tasks a lot easier and with so much more confidence.
He also enjoys the color that we picked for him and there were a lot of great colors to choose from.
